When Pentatonix puts on a holiday festive season tour, it's nothing short of a magical experience that comes complete with an out-of-this-world production, fancy sound and lighting, and some pretty amazing choreography. Last year, they pulled off a seriously cool trek, which saw them sell out multiple venues across the board.

Fans absolutely fell in love, and you could hear them screaming for more hit after hit, and you expected them to do the exact same thing this time around. Adding to the excitement is their brand new studio recording of eight new songs as well as a greatest hits compilation, which is due out on October 20th. This album marks their 7th festive release and their 12th album to date.

This all means that fans of the group have never had it so good. Since their formation way back in 2011, they've been building a huge army of followers that has led to several prestigious awards, including three Grammys, over 10 million album sales world wide, and billions of multi-platform streams.

On their journey to the top, the group has performed at the Kennedy Center Honors for Tom Hanks, with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in the audience. They've also worked together with such legendary artists as Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, and Lindsey Stirling. Pentatonix have also made their way onto the silver screen with a cameo in the massively successful Pitch Perfect 2. Not to mention, they're givers too, having supported amazing causes such as the Do It for the Love Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and more.

Multiplatinum a cappella group Pentatonix will bring their Evergreen Christmas Tour 2021 to Minneapolis’ Target Center on Dec. 18.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster. Neither the promoter nor the venue announced ticket prices.

The Texas-based five-piece group won the third season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” and a contract with Sony Music. They built a strong online following through the group’s YouTube channel , which now boasts 19.2 million subscribers.

The group’s Daft Punk medley , which has been viewed 353 million times on YouTube, won them their first of three Grammy Awards. The single also went gold, along with the group’s covers of Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

Pentatonix has released five best-selling Christmas records and will issue their sixth, “Evergreen,” on Oct. 29.

Pentatonix is also a popular live act. After selling out several Twin Cities theater performances, the group graduated to St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center for shows in October 2016 and June 2019. They also drew 13,139 fans to the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand in 2017.

Target Center also announced three other shows on Monday.

Comedian Jeff Dunham will headline the basketball arena on Dec. 30. The $50.50 tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 through Axs.

Alt-metal band Tool will return to Target Center on March 13. Tickets are priced from $147 to $56.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Axs.

Fresh off of Hollywood Boulevard where a cappella group Pentatonix received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, the three-time Grammy-winning quintet announced that they will be embarking on a North American Tour with very special guest Lauren Alaina. Produced by Live Nation, the 24-city tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 9th at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville making stops across North America in Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, Irvine and more.  

Today’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is especially significant for Pentatonix as they are the first A Cappella group to receive such honor. Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and multi-platinum selling artist  Pentatonix  has announced the release of a new holiday album,  Evergreen.  Pentatonix come to Target Center on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Tickets on sale now. 

Toys For Tots - This year, for the Evergreen Christmas Tour we are partnering with Toys For Tots, to donate gifts to children aged 0 - 12. You will be able to donate new, unwrapped gifts (including books) to the above participating venues if you wish to. Thank you in advance for helping us spread some extra holiday cheer this season.  

The re will be drop box locations at all entry point sincluding the Lifetime Lobby and Main & South Skyways.  Attendees can look for Marines in uniform who will be manning the Toy for Tots drop boxes. I’m typically not one for Christmas shows. it’s not that I don’t appreciate Christmas music it’s more that things have become so commercialized that some of the spirit has been lost. I’m not standing on a soapbox preaching just simply saying from my point of view it takes away the specialness of the season when the Christmas music is starting weeks before even Thanksgiving happens.

I went to this concert because Pentatonix is one of my daughter’s favorite vocal groups. She really wanted to see the show, so I thought why not have a father/daughter date night. I have seen them in concert before and I’ve always liked their music. But this holiday show was something special. I have to say it was nothing short of spectacular. I was pleasantly surprised because I when not really expecting anything.

Their selection of songs was fantastic which added to the evening. I did not realize that Evergreen is their 7th Christmas CD. That gave them an awful lot of material to choose from. I can’t pick out one song that was a highlight for me but more the entire production. I left with a feeling that I used to get over Christmas season listening to these songs. I think partially because the band believed in these songs so much and you could just hear the passion in their voices.

Unfortunately, I believe they’re only doing around 11 shows for this Christmas tour. So…..

Pentatonix will harmonize in minneapolis to combat bullying.

Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying suddenly perked up over the phone.

He had just learned about the cause behind the benefit concert that his champion a cappella quintet is performing Saturday in Minneapolis. It's for PACER Center, a Twin Cities agency that helps children with disabilities and operates anti-bullying programs.

"Oh, my gosh. That's an incredibly important organization," Hoying said. "I think that anything we can do to put an end to bullying is something we want to do. Because bullying affects kids for their entire life and affects your future."

He knows. He speaks from personal experience. He was bullied as a youngster. Name-calling. Taunts like "Why do you talk like a girl?" "Why do you act like that?"

"A queer kid in Texas," the 31-year-old said. "I had a tepee in the closet and tried to hide the true me for so many years. I was a really eccentric kid. I had a lot of energy, and I was goofy and so over the top.

"There was one specific time where a kid physically hurt me that has stuck with me to this day. Stuff like that in your formative years can really, really affect your development," he said. "I feel like it's something I'm still dealing with. I'm still writing songs about it as a form of therapy. Empathy and kindness and connection and kids are essential."

For Pentatonix, the Minneapolis benefit is an isolated concert in a year that has been mostly time off. Soprano singer Kirstin Maldonado gave birth to her first child in the summer. New bass singer Matt Sallee got married. Yet, Pentatonix still managed to squeeze in the recording of another yule album, "Holidays Around the World," the group's sixth Christmas offering in eight years.

In fact, two weeks after the PACER concert, Pentatonix will hit the road for its annual holiday concert tour. Like Bing Crosby and Mannheim Steamroller, Pentatonix has become synonymous with Christmas music. Is that a blessing or a curse?

"I'd say it's a blessing," Hoying said. "Christmas is such a joyous time. It's family and memories. We get to be the soundtrack to so many people's Christmases, which is a time associated with joy, happiness and peace. Also, Christmas is a huge thing every year."

Hoying finds it comforting to know that Pentatonix will be able to gig for six weeks every holiday season. Otherwise, he finds the music industry so fickle.

"You'll have a No. 1 one day and then one day the industry won't want you anymore," he said. "That's a really scary thing."

Released last week, "Holidays Around the World" features an original, "Kid on Christmas," with pop star Meghan Trainor. The project also showcases other guests, including Chinese pianist Lang Lang, England's the King's Singers and Filipina vocalist Lea Salonga, who voiced Jasmine and Mulan in Disney animated movies.

"It's probably the album we're most proud of in Pentatonix ever," Hoying said. "We collaborated with all these iconic artists in all these special countries. It was fun to have instruments and production inspired by each country, and also we put in some strong originals."

In addition to all those holiday albums, Pentatonix — which launched its career after winning NBC's "The Sing-Off" a cappella competition in 2011 — has recorded five albums of cover songs as well as two full-length collections of original material, including 2021's "The Lucky Ones."

Solo trip to 'Mars'

Pentatonix was formed by Hoying and two high school friends from Arlington, Texas. He self-released three solo albums in the mid-'00s before turning to a cappella singing. This summer, he finally dropped his first single, "Mars," since joining Pentatonix. Its accompanying video is an ambitious trip to the desert with some additional underwater videography.

"So, the budget for the video is really, really small," Hoying said last month from his Hollywood home. "I find it so inspiring to bring five friends, go out to the desert and get an Airbnb and make art in DIY fashion. Everyone is so hands-on and inspired, and it ended up looking like a million-dollar video."

Solo recordings have been a long-held dream for Hoying, and he finally felt he had the "experience and capacity" to do both solo work and Pentatonix.

"Pentatonix still comes first," he said. "I want to keep releasing music and have a solo career going as long as I can keep up my energy."

His solo career is a higher priority than his other side project, Superfruit, with Pentatonix pal Mitch Grassi. That duo is on hiatus as Grassi works on his own solo project.

This year, Hoying has become super-passionate about songwriting, penning a song "almost every day."

Although he has enough quality material for an album, Hoying hasn't signed a contract, so he'll just release singles in the meantime.

Singing for Joni Mitchell

The PACER Center gala isn't the only benefit for Pentatonix this year. In April, the quintet joined an all-star lineup in a salute to Joni Mitchell for MusiCares, the Recording Academy's charity foundation for musicians.

"One of Joni's favorite songs is 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love,' so Brandi Carlile — she hangs out with Joni and Joni plays solitaire and listens to Pentatonix — asked us to surprise her and sing her favorite song for her as well as one of her songs. And besides that, it was one of the craziest events I've ever done. It was surreal."

To top it off, Hoying talked to Mitchell about music for about 10 minutes.

"It's one of those 'Pinch me' moments. How did my life lead to this moment? It was really cool."

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Grammy Award winning and platinum selling recording artists Pentatonix have announced additional North American dates to their 2016 Pentatonix World Tour. Special guests Us The Duo will continue on the road with the quintet. The 22 city second leg of the US tour will begin on October 17 in San Jose, CA and end on November 22 in Houston, TX. The group will continue touring in support of their self-titled gold certified album and their newest single, "If I Ever Fall In Love" ft. Jason Derulo.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2011, multi-platinum selling recording artists Pentatonix have sold more than 3.2 million albums in the U.S. alone, won two Grammy Awards, sold out venues worldwide, have amassed over 1.5 billion views on their YouTube channel with over 10.5 million subscribers and appeared in the feature film Pitch Perfect 2.
