Only thirty kilometers from Tours, this city was for many years the favorite city of King François 1er who resided in his royal castle. Every summer evening, you can watch a magnificent nocturnal show “A la cour du Roy” in the Château. On the program, light shows, water games, fireworks, Renaissance dance scenes and cavalry scenes will make you experience the history of France.

This pearl of Touraine and the Loire still hides other secrets… Leonardo da Vinci spent his last two years at the Château du Clos Lucé in Amboise. Today, this place can be visited by everyone. You can discover the reconstruction of a large part of his Renaissance works.

But Amboise is also a city of wine: it offers sublime wine-growing landscapes. You can also taste, in the Touraine Amboise appellation, white, rosé and also red. Amboise knows how to please everyone!

What particularities for Amboise wines?

Amboise Blanc is a wine made from the Pineau de la Loire grape variety. There are two kinds: sparkling wines, rather light on the palate and pleasantly accompanying aperitifs and desserts, then dry, semi-dry or sweet still wines depending on the amount of sunshine.

Amboise Rouge comes from a blend of different grape varieties: Cabernet and Gamay. And it is then that the wine expresses all its fragrance.

Amboise Rosé is obtained by maceration of the whole grape and comes from the same grape varieties as the red. It is bottled early to preserve all its freshness.

"That was the most wonderful wine tasting that you can imagine! Myriam is very professional but doesn't oppress you with her knowledge. She talks about wine so passionately that you are drawn into this world and want to know more and more. She answers all your questions (silly as they may be) and takes time to explain all the details. The tasting itself was magnificent, especially interesting were the explanations about all the combinations with regional delicacies. That was almost like a proper meal. Thanks to her we are now fans of Nougat du Tours and will definitely try to recreate it at home (although only certified bakers are allowed to name their creation by this proud name). We had small children with us and were very worried that they may be bored but they could play freely around the vineyards and had many glasses of wonderful grape juice, so that they could also taste their Vouvray. " We visited the vineyard, the winery and the caves of Vignoble Alain Robert over 3 hours on a wonderful tour. Our host Myriam was delightful, her English excellent, and she had huge knowledge of everything wine, from vines to bottle to tasting. This tour will suit anyone really interested in the making of wine whether you know a lot or little about the subject. We highly recommend this tour....and a few of the Alain Robert wines!!" "Highlight of the trip to the Loire Valley"

" I booked the three-hour "From Vine to Wine" tour of the vineyard, winery, and cellar followed by tastings of 6 wines plus samples of excellent locally prepared food -- and every moment was a delight. Myriam, our guide and a member of the owners' family was almost exhaustively knowledgable about each aspect of the process, but it was not at all exhausting to listen to her as we walked because her charm, good humor, and obvious love of the land made for a fascinating afternoon. This tour would be fine for both a novice and a wine connoisseur. The Vouvray wines surprised me - only one was "sweet" and even that was pleasing! Discover the wonders of the Loire Valley with this day wine tour! Visit its famous Chateaus and discover its fine matured wines thanks to a visit to a historical winery.

You'll be picked up at 9:00 AM at the Tours train station or your hotel in Tours to visit the Chateau of Chenonceau, nicknamed “the ladies castle" as prominent French women once resided here, including Catherine de Medici. Besides the castle, you will be able to admire the wonderful Renaissance gardens that surround it.

Next, you will visit Caves Ambacia, a winery established in 1874. Here you will enjoy a guided tour and tasting of 3 wines, led by a specialist in matured Loire Valley vintages. Please note that the tour and wine tasting will only be in English.

Lunch will be at your leisure. After lunch, you will visit the Royal Castle of Amboise, the residence of Charles the 8th and young François d’Angoulème (the future Francois the 1st). Here you will have the opportunity to discover perfect examples of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance styling and visit the Saint Hubert Chapel which shelters the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci.

This Loire Valley tour would not be complete without a visit to The Genius' Chateau du Clos Lucé, only a few short steps away from the Royal Castle. This is where da Vinci spent the last three years of his life. You will be touring his bedroom, office, reception room, and kitchen, to finally stand in awe at the Invention Room, where models of Leonardo's most spectacular machines are on display.
