What our customers say about us

Adolfo Mignogna

We are located in Santiago de Compostela, very close to the Abastos market. But it’s easier to see it on the map:

Safe travel - Covid19

F.a.q - frequently asked questions.

To be a travel agency and comply with the laws, it is necessary to comply with a few government laws, have several mandatory insurance by any tourism company and obtain the famous agency identification code. This code is essential to start the activity as a travel agency. Our company’s ID code is XG-682. By law, moreover, any tourist company has the obligation to teach by all means the identification code: for example, on the website you can always see it at the bottom of the page, but it is also mandatory to put it in all material advertising. So, if you ever miss leaflets without this code, do not trust those too much. That advertising can be illegal and maybe insurance has not been paid for the good of their customers.

  • Administration insurance. it’s an insurance that changes according to the community and that is also called insurance or surety policy, since the most advantageous way to provide this insurance is through a surety insurance given that the amounts are usually very high (€100,000 in Galicia). This is the individual guarantee offered to agencies and the community.
  • Collective Insurance for workers is the insurance that serves to protect workers and employees of the company. It is governed by collective agreement.
  • Civil Liability Insurance, which provides cover for the exploitation of the activity for any type of casualty, such as material, personal and economic damage. The aim of having this insurance is to ensure that the company can respond to claims from third parties.

For many different reasons:

  • It is a young company, where creators participate actively and daily to all activities, and no one puts more heart in an activity than the one who has created it.
  • In it. we speak many languages, 7 different languages spoken among creators. And in addition, depending on occasions, we collaborate with guides and tourism professionals who speak many more languages, being able to cover almost everything, yes, according to availability.
  • Guides are always trained by the founders. A good guide, according to our philosophy, not only knows a lot of information, but provides the right product to the right person at the right time and is dedicated to the tourist as if it were his servant. To quote a famous movie by Benigni: “To serve is the supreme art, God is the first servant, God serves man but is not the servant of men”
  • Because before being employees, founders and owners of the company, we are after all tourists. We love to be able to travel, discover and know the world, so we know very well the desires of a traveler.
  • Because we have won a very important award for our work.

We are very proud to have won in 2020 the Tripadvisor award for the most beautiful excursions around the world. Tripadvisor is today one of the most important and well-known platforms worldwide for tourism activities. And this platform has awarded the Traveller’s Choice award to our star excursion to Finisterre and Costa Da Morte, placing it among the 10% of the most beautiful activities in the world.

Although in recent years we have focused mainly on “incoming” tourism in Galicia, we work all over the world. In fact, there are many group trips that we organize throughout Europe and Morocco. The founders also have experience as guides in almost every city of Europe, before starting with our company. For example, in Morocco there are not so many companies and especially guides that go many times in a row from Spain. Our guides are even experts from this country, not easy to control in tourist matters.

Galicia Travels focuses mainly on the topic of group travel, because our philosophy is that travel can be as cheap as possible, so that everyone can travel, taste the art of the tourist and know the world, always letting culture accompany us. This does not mean that we only dedicate ourselves to groups. In fact, for example, in Santiago de Compostela and on the Camino de Santiago, it is not necessary to have a group. We also offer, in short, package trips, logistical support for other tourist companies, etc.

Answering this question is very easy, we invite you to see what our customers say about us on various platforms. On Google, for example, we are the only tourism company with many votes (around 300 at the end of 2021) and with an average of 4.9/5. No other company has nearly as many votes, nor such a high average. As well as on other platforms such as Trustindex, Tripadvisor, Booking, Getyourguide, etc.

The Portuguese Camino - Coastal Way to Santiago

Walking the Camino to Santiago de Compostela is an amazing experience. This self guided tour was a wonderful way to do it. The stops were well spaced out and the hotels were clean, comfortable and efficient. The food was adequate and at times quite good. The luggage service was fantastic. It was great hiking with just a day pack knowing your luggage would be at your hotel when you arrived at the end of the day. We found the maps and notes provided difficult to follow but extremely useful to get back on track if one gets “lost”. In general, the Camino was extremely well marked and one could follow the signs easily. Google maps was helpful finding our hotels which were not always directly on the way. Our stop in Padron was less than ideal - The Hotel Rosalia was quite a distance from town, was located directly across from the train station, and was a ways off the Camino. The room had a very strong odor of disinfectant that didn’t disperse with all the windows open. Other than that, the hotels were quite good and all were very clean. A special shout out to Hotel Restaurante Costa Verde in Viladesuso for the excellent fish.

What people love about galicia tours.

Our guide got us safely to Santiago which was a big part of his job. We had a nice group of people on our tour. The leader had good recommendations for restaurants and city tours. However, the guide was very impatient with me when my backpack was missing, and I only found my pack due to my air tags. Gadventures was responsible for moving my pack during the day so I am not sure about the reason for the impatience.
Matched me with G tours. Everyone followed up, made changes as needed & worked well together.
Everything was amazing! Our group leader really took care of us,from making sure we were all ok to getting us to some of the greatest places to stop for break or lunch and supper. She made sure we all could keep up & she was always smiling . I would definitely do this tour again !

The first day we will go to Coruña and the Costa da Morte, the second day we will visit Pontevedra and the Rías Baixas from Barbanza to Cambados and on the third day we will discover the interior in Ourense and the wonderful Ribeira Sacra. All organized with an official Galician guide who will explain all the stories, legends and secrets of each place so that your experience is total.

We will leave from Santiago de Compostela to visit the maritime city of Coruña. We will take a guided tour of the city and visit the famous Tower of Hercules, the only working Roman lighthouse in the world. Then we will have free time to eat and enjoy the famous tapas of the city walking through the streets with more bars and a good atmosphere.

After lunch we will go to the towns of the Costa da Morte. We will start with Laxe and its famous and original Playa de los Cristales and continue through Camariñas visiting its lighthouse and the Lace Museum, who does not know the famous lace and palilleiras of Camariñas?

After a break and time for coffee, we will continue to Muxía to visit the famous Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Barca and, finally, we will arrive at the Finisterre Lighthouse, the famous “end of the earth”, to contemplate if time permits. sunset.

We will return to Santiago de Compostela after a wonderful day in the north of Galicia.

  • Second day:

The second day is to get to know the south of the Galician coast, the famous “Rías Baixas”. We will leave from Santiago de Compostela towards the famous Ría de Arousa. We will go to the Sierra del Barbanza to complete the views of the entire estuary from the top and then we will arrive at one of the most beautiful towns in the place, Corrubedo.

After the visit, we will continue to the Ría de Pontevedra visiting its city and we will have free time to eat in its wonderful old town. Then we will go to the town of Combarro to see its curious granaries and alleys and then we will reach the Grove and the island of La Toja. If time permits, we will take a boat to navigate the Ría de Arousa for an hour.

Back in Santiago we will make the last stop in Cambados, the cradle of Albariño wine to say goodbye to the top of the Rías Baixas.

The third day is to finish delighting ourselves with the magic that Galicia has in the interior, in the depths of its mountains and forests. We will leave from Santiago towards the Ribeira Sacra, famous for its rivers, vineyards and monasteries. We will first visit the Ribas de Sil Monastery, current National Tourism Parador and located in a unique enclave. Next, we will go to the famous Cañones del Sil and take the one-hour catamaran route to contemplate the impressive landscapes, flora and fauna of the place and of course the fantastic vineyards. We will continue the route through the monasteries of the place, this time visiting a semi-ruined one, the Santa Cristina convent.

After the visit we will replenish energy with time to eat and visit a winery with tasting to enjoy the famous wine of the place, the Ribeira Sacra.

Interactive tour map of Santiago de Compostela

Strolling through the cobbled streets and squares of Santiago, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, will give you the feeling to be back in time, as most of the monuments date from the Middle Ages. Here you will witness a splendid and mystic past and a lively international present thanks to the many locals, students and high-spirited pilgrims and tourists that fill the streets. Santiago has a feeling of a ‘big village’, thanks to its size, the fact there are no cars circulating in the centre and the very friendly people you will meet. You will feel safe in this magical city!

You will find not only Romanesque and baroque churches, museums, elegant streets, majestic parks and some of the oldest University buildings but also many cosy cafes, traditional and contemporary restaurants and interesting shops. Santiago will not only give you a sense of bustling medieval town, it will also offer you a fiesta atmosphere with its unique musical tradition thanks to the opera singers, flute/guitar/violin-players, pipers, drummers, and of course, the TUNA, the group of students dressed in capes with colourful ribbons and emblems designating the history of their travels, playing traditional instruments and singing typical Spanish songs.

Wander around the ancient cobblestone streets and quaint back alleys, allow yourself a time to get delightfully lost in this ancient maze and enter in one of the many empty churches to absorb the magical atmosphere of Galicia . You will definitely fall in love with this Santiago de Compostela!

The first thing to do is go to the market then tour the old town’s streets and squares before entering the Cathedral. We recommend waiting to enter the Cathedral until 12 noon to attend the pilgrim mass and get the chance to see the botafumeiro censer in action. However, if you would like to avoid crowds the best hours to visit the Cathedral are before and after the pilgrim mass.

We have put together more things that you can probably see in a day without stressing, however this is just an indication of where the main sites are, hoping this will help you make your way around this amazing city and select the few things that are interesting to you.

El Camino de Santiago: A Walking Tour in Northern Spain

Aerial view of Burgos

Friday, October 18, 2024 to Wednesday, October 30, 2024

For more than a millennium, pilgrims have walked the Camino de Santiago, the Way of St. James, to the Shrine of the Apostle at Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. On this moderately-active program, follow the pilgrims' footsteps by hiking the most interesting sections of the Camino, enjoying exquisite cuisine, regional wines, breathtaking architecture, and splendid hotels en route. Daily walks average 3.5 miles, with plenty of opportunities to rest along the way. This journey on the classic Camino concludes with Mass at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the traditional incense-burning ceremony will be performed specially for our group.

Trip Highlights:

  • Begin a series of walks along the Camino in Pamplona and end in Santiago de Compostela. This pilgrimage has been undertaken for centuries, and still draws hundreds of thousands of devotees annually.
  • Admire awe-inspiring cathedrals and monasteries in Nájera, Burgos, León, and other pilgrimage cities along the way, and enjoy leisure time to explore Spain’s lovely Galicia region.
  • Experience midday Mass at the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most important religious structures in Spain, with the famous Botafumeiro ritual performed for the group.
  • Watch the sunset over Cape Finisterre, a rock-bound peninsula once thought to be “the end of the Earth,” into the Atlantic Ocean.
