Recently, we were on a Grand Safari booked by Don @ Renshaw Travel from May 19th/22 to May 30th/22 in Kenya and Tanzania. Although we have travelled extensively in the past, this was our first safari. Prior to leaving we did have a few concerns regarding unknowns such as Covid safety protocols, quality of accommodations and food, etc. , Don kept assuring us ever thing would be ok, and not to worry. The arrangements you and Stephanie made were, well, in a word, flawless.. Or in another word, perfection.   You guaranteed us a balcony at Chevre d’Or. We had two balconies! Chevre d’Or is unique, with wonderful service, breathtaking views, yet very welcoming and friendly. The first night there was a spectacular fireworks display at Cap Ferrat…we had the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy.   We were also very impressed with the Excelsior Palace, where we were provided with an upgraded room with large terrace overlooking Portofino Bay. We enjoyed a  family reunion with both our daughters/sons-in-law in Rapallo for three days, and had them over to the Excelsior for dinner on the terrace. The food and service were outstanding. Rapallo proved to be the perfect spot to explore Portofino and Cinque Terre.   Hertz provided the exact model of car that we needed and there were no problems or delays. Interestingly, the drop off in Genova was very close to Brignole train station, making this a remarkably easy transition. Stephanie’s choice of train schedule was perfect for us.

Hello Jessica, Ron and I just left the little hotel in Villabuena that you so kindly booked for us. We drove in from San Sebastián, it was a 2 hour drive through the prettiest countryside I have ever seen. Very mountainous, lots of small Spanish villages perched on the hill sides. Through a very long tunnel to a completely different landscape. Dry and lots of vineyards. We found Hotel Virura with the help of GPS and WOW what a find it was. We were blown away from the scenic drive than the icing on the cake was the hotel and our room. I think Ron and I will remember that evening for a long time. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Portugal again, after 32 years.  All of the arrangements made by you worked out perfectly. Travelling across the Atlantic in business class was a real treat, for which you deserve special thanks.   Overall, we were pleased with our itinerary: 8 days in Lisbon (with day trips to Evora, Sintra, etc), 2 days in Coimbra, and 4 in Porto, including our tour up the Douro valley. Jamie and I are back from what was the most wonderful, relaxing of vacations.  Thank you so much! Hermitage Bay did not disappoint; from the spectacular views, to pampering touches, to friendly, welcoming staff, we could not have been more pleased.  And our villa...simply amazing!  We were taken back by the beachfront villa, but to then be paced high on top the hillside in villa 39 - it took our breath away!  We have a feeling you had something to do with us getting that villa and, again, thank you.   It was a pleasure getting to know you and work with you on this trip.  We've already referred you to friends and will most certainly call again when we're planning our next getaway.

Overall, the trip was amazing. Africa is such a beautiful country. The people were so lovely and friendly!   We have no words to describe the gorilla trekking. It was absolutely amazing. Yes, we would definitely recommend Mikeno Lodge. The food was wonderful and the cottage was very cozy.   Giraffe Manor- What can we say! We couldn't get enough of kissing the Giraffes!   The safari was super fun. Our guides were a joy to be with. It was also nice that we had the option of private dining each night. We quite enjoyed our privacy and we will never forget Bernard! Our wonderful host who made each night special for us.   Lamu was a quaint little town and we spent most of our time on Manda Island at the Majlis. The Majlis was absolutely beautiful...It was a wonderful way to end the trip.   Thank you for all your hard work in truly planning a dream vacation. Dear Carly,   It has been a couple of weeks now since our dream vacation on the SeaDream ended but the memories are still fresh and wonderful.  Everything was perfect, from the arrival in Athens with the hotel car waiting for us and delivering us to the truly outstanding Hotel Grand Bretagne where we spent 2 luxurious nights surrounded by gleaming marble and tapestries.  Did you know that the sidewalks in Athens are marble?

Dear Don, I want to congratulate you on such a special trip to New Zealand . I went last year with the group to South Africa. I have traveled extensively before but the trip last year was so amazing!!! Every detail was attended and one only had to get dressed in the morning and the rest was taken care of amazingly. My name is Joy. Santiago Nemirovsky recently planned a week long adventure in Argentina for my husband Scott and me. This was hands down, the best travel agent experience I have ever had. We have used other Virtuoso travel agencies from Woodside Travel, Frontiers Travel, to  American Express Platinum Travel. However, it was our experience with Santiago Nemirovsky and Renshaw Travel that was by far the best.

Santiago went well above and beyond to make our trip special. His exemplary planning skills came through every piece of our journey, from the comprehensive and well-executed dossier, to the logistics of our flights, and the handling of our accommodations, excursions, and dining reservations. In addition, he took extra care to provide personal touches, helping me develop a personal shopping itinerary.

I found his character to be honorable and trusted him to always make our trip work. For this reason, I have asked him to manage a trip to Belize next week, and to dive in to our plans for travel this year ranging from Amsterdam to London, Paris, and perhaps back to Argentina next summer.

I think that Santiago is very special. He has a rare combination of precision, thoughtfulness, and passion for his work that I find admirable.  I have told all my friends and family that this trip to Argentina planned by Santiago was the most relaxing trip I have taken as an adult. This was a first for me and it had deep personal meaning.

I have come through several life or death health crises in the past few years. After many hospitalizations, etc... I have found it difficult to relax. The History of Renshaw Travel

The history behind Renshaw Travel & Cruise Concepts goes back to the life story of a young man from a small-town whose ambition and determination took him to great places. This man was Don Renshaw.

After thirty days on the road, Don and the doctor's family arrived in Vancouver, a different place for Don, who came from a town where everyone was on a first name basis. Though not knowing a single soul, he soon fell in love with the city. Within weeks, Don was rehired by the doctor to drive down to Hollywood over the winter holidays. The highlight of this trip was staying in the garage of one of his idols, famous actor Walter Pidgeon. Don returned to Vancouver in early 1946 and began to earn his keep by working on steamships along the BC coast up to Alaska.

During this time, Don started to groom his eldest son, Donny, in the world of travel sales by sending him off on trips to Victoria, Montreal, Spain and India. After a taste of flying the globe in luxury, first class style, Donny was hooked!

Don Jr. soon gained recognition for his savvy salesman skills in the travel world, which undoubtedly helped him land and earn the respected position of Director and Vice-President at Renshaw Travel in the late 1970s.

The 1980s brought even more change to the Renshaws, when Senior decided to take a gamble and relocate to 4th Avenue, one of Vancouver's less glamourous neighbourhoods at the time. When Senior replaced the existing dive with a sleek west-coast glass structure, a domino effect of trendy upgrades came to the Avenue, and by the late 1980s, 4th Avenue turned from hippie town to a high-end retail district, adding even further to the travel agency's success.

In 1993, Don Jr. bought the travel agency from his father, marking a new age for Renshaw Travel, especially with the introduction of new technologies. Within no time, the agency went from issuing hand-written to machine-automated tickets and using new software now commonly referred to as Apollo. This change in processing not only made booking of flights and hotels more efficient, it also opened up a whole other side to travel. When internet came, the thirty-odd travel specialists became even better experts with information being just a click of a button away.

While there was discussion about adding a cruise department back in the late 1980s, the addition of a cruise department did not come into fruition until 1997. A year later, Renshaw Travel became Renshaw Travel & Cruise Concepts and was honoured with an invitation to become a Member of Virtuoso, an exclusive network of luxury travel to which only 1% of all travel agencies are invited to join (to learn more about Virtuoso, please click here). This not only gave great advantage and credibility to the agency, it also changed the focus of the agency to specialize more in luxury travel and tailor-made itineraries.

To this day, the agency has remained a true family business and Senior's ambition and determination as a young man truly has left a legacy to be remembered! Senior is still a great fixture in the agency and enjoys most of his time traveling, playing sports and enjoying life!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Monday that President Joe Biden's administration does not view the killings of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel in its war with Hamas as genocide.

Sullivan said the United States wants to see Hamas defeated. He also said that Palestinians caught in the middle of the war were in "hell" and that a major military operation by Israel in Rafah would be a mistake.

"We do not believe what is happening in Gaza is a genocide. We have been firmly on record rejecting that proposition," Sullivan told reporters at the White House.

War in Israel and Gaza

Sullivan expressed concern about reports of Israeli settlers attacking a humanitarian aid convoy on its way to Erez Crossing in northern Gaza, the second such incident in less than a week.

"It is a total outrage that there are people who are attacking and looting these conveys," Sullivan said. "It is completely and utterly unacceptable behavior."

Biden, who is running for re-election this year, has faced heavy criticism from his own supporters domestically for his support of Israel; some of those critics have accused Israel of committing genocide. More than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have died, according to Gaza health officials.

Biden has sought to influence Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach to the war, Sullivan said, but Israel is a sovereign, democratic nation that ultimately makes its own decisions, Sullivan said.

"The prime minister doesn't have to answer to us. He's got to answer to the Israeli people," Sullivan said.

Reiterating a comment made by Biden on Saturday, Sullivan said there could be a ceasefire in Gaza now if Hamas would release hostages. The world should be calling on Hamas to return to the negotiating table and accept a deal, Sullivan said.

The United States is working urgently for a ceasefire and hostage-release deal, Sullivan said. He said he could not predict when or if such a deal would be sealed.

Factbox-Who are the candidates running in the 2024 US presidential election?

(Reuters) -President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will face each other in the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5 in what looks set to be a divisive, closely fought contest. Several third-party hopefuls are also running.

Here is a list of the candidates:

REPUBLICAN PARTY

DONALD TRUMP

Trump, in office from 2017-2021, has secured enough delegates to clinch the Republican nomination, setting up the first presidential rematch in nearly 70 years.

He has leveraged his unprecedented legal challenges to solidify support among his base and has cast his third bid for the White House in part as retribution against perceived political enemies. 

He calls supporters jailed for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol "hostages" and campaigns using increasingly dystopian rhetoric. He has refused to commit to accepting the election results or to rule out possible violence around the Nov. 5 contest, and is already laying the groundwork to contest his potential election loss.

Trump, 77, faces 88 charges in four criminal cases over efforts to subvert the 2020 election, retaining classified documents after leaving office and alleged efforts to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star.

He denies wrongdoing in all the cases, including the New York hush-money criminal trial, which could be the only one to begin before the Nov. 5 election.

He has called the charges a Democratic conspiracy to prevent him from winning. The U.S. Justice Department denies any political interference. 

If elected to another four-year term, Trump has vowed revenge on his political enemies and said he would not be a dictator except "on day one," later calling that "a joke." He also wants the power to replace federal civil service workers with loyalists.

Trump sparked criticism from Western leaders for saying the U.S. would not defend NATO members that did not spend enough on defense and would encourage Russia to attack them. He also pressed congressional Republicans to stall military aid for Ukraine before later reversing course.

Trump has made immigration his top domestic campaign issue, declaring he would carry out mass deportations, utilize the National Guard and possibly federal troops, end birthright citizenship, and expand a travel ban on people from certain countries. He has referred to migrants as "animals" and has not ruled out building detention camps on U.S. soil.

On abortion, Trump takes credit for the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade and has said it should remain a state issue. While he has criticized some Republican-led state actions such as Florida's six-week abortion ban, he said he would allow Republican-led states to track women's pregnancies and prosecute those who violate their state bans.

He had promised to eliminate Obamacare health insurance before saying in an April 11 video that he would not "terminate" it. He has also vowed to undo much of the Biden administration’s work to fight climate change.

Trump has yet to announce a vice presidential running mate, but several possibilities have been floated. Mike Pence, who ran alongside Trump in 2016 and 2020 but was targeted by Trump and his supporters amid the Jan. 6 attack, refused to endorse him in November's contest.

DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Biden launched his 2020 candidacy as an urgent bid to defend American liberties and protect democracy and has cast his reelection bid in the same light, saying Trump threatens the future of American democracy.

Biden faced no serious challenger for the party's nomination, which he clinched in March.

November's election will be much tougher, with the most recent Reuters/Ipsos poll putting both Biden and Trump's voter support at 40% of registered voters. Other polling shows the incumbent trailing Trump in crucial battleground states.

Biden, already the oldest U.S. president ever at 81, must convince voters he is more fit for office than Trump, who is just four years his junior, while combating low approval ratings that are worse among younger than older voters.

The economy will also factor in Biden's reelection campaign. While the U.S. escaped an anticipated recession and is growing faster than economists expected, inflation and the cost of essentials are weighing on voters.

Biden pushed through massive economic stimulus and infrastructure spending packages to boost U.S. industrial output, but has received little recognition from voters so far as his campaign moves to highlight new semiconductor manufacturing plants, housing plansand other economic efforts.

Biden has said he wants to compete with China, not launch a trade war, and moved to keep tariffs put in place by Trump while ratcheting up others on an array of Chinese imports.  

Two labor groups, the United Auto Workers union and the North America's Building Trade Union, have endorsed his reelection bid with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden's handling of immigration policy has been criticized by Republicans and Democrats as migrant crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border hit record highs.

He has led the response of Western governments to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, persuading allies to punish Russia and support Kyiv, and secured additional funding in April after a months-long battle with congressional Republicans.

Biden has also provided military aid to Israel in its conflict with Hamas while urging more humanitarian assistance, but he faces growing criticism from many Democrats over his handling of the war in Gaza. Reuters/Ipsos polling shows the issue has divided the party. 

Pro-Palestinian protests at U.S. universities and cities over the conflict are supported by 38% of registered Democrats in the May 7-14 survey, whereas the same percentage say they do not back them.

In May, Biden paused a shipment of certain bombs to Israel amid continued efforts to pursue a ceasefire, while Israel has vowed a ground operation in Rafah.

MARIANNE WILLIAMSON

Best-selling author and self-help guru Marianne Williamson, 71, relaunched her long-shot 2024 presidential bid focusing on "justice and love" less than one month after dropping out.

In a February statement, she said she was getting back in to fight Trump's "dark and authoritarian vision" after earlier suspending it because she was losing "the horse race." 

Williamson previously ran as a Democrat in the 2020 presidential primary but dropped out of that race before any votes were cast. 

INDEPENDENTS

ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR

An anti-vaccine activist and environmental advocate, Kennedy, 70, is running as an independent after initially challenging Biden for the Democratic nomination.

While he lags in overall polling, Kennedy could siphon votes from Trump and Biden, with a May Reuters/Ipsos poll showing he was backed by 13% of respondents.

The son of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968 during his own presidential bid, Kennedy has drawn rebukes from his famous family, which has publicly backed Biden.

Kennedy, who chose wealthy lawyer Nicole Shanahan as his running mate, supports Israel and has questioned a six-week ceasefire backed by Biden. 

He said he views the U.S. southern border situation as a humanitarian crisis and opposes Trump's border wall. He has also vowed to repeal parts of Biden's climate bill over tax breaks he says help the oil industry.

Kennedy has taken different positions on abortion rights, including restrictions on when a woman can access an abortion. He told Reuters he thought every abortion was a "tragedy" but that it should be a woman's right "throughout the pregnancy."

He has been criticized for making false medical claims over the years on vaccines but says he would still allow Americans to have access to them.

He himself had a brain worm more than a decade ago but has fully recovered, his campaign said in May. 

Kennedy's campaign has said he is officially on the ballot in a handful of states so far, including California, Michigan and Utah, although he faces a challenging, costly battle to be listed in all 50. 

CORNEL WEST

The political activist, philosopher and academic is making a third-party bid for president that is most likely to appeal to progressive, Democratic-leaning voters.

West, 70, initially ran as a Green Party candidate but, in October, he said people "want good policies over partisan politics" and announced his bid as an independent. He has promised to end poverty and guarantee housing.

Jill Stein, a physician who ran under the Green Party in 2016, is trying once again in 2024. 

She launched her current campaign accusing Democrats of betraying their promises "for working people, youth and the climate again and again - while Republicans don’t even make such promises in the first place." 

Stein, 74, raised millions of dollars for recounts after Trump's surprise 2016 victory. Her allegations yielded only one electoral review in Wisconsin, which showed Trump had won.
