Most PGA Champions Tour major tournament victories

The most PGA Tour Champions major tournament victories is 12, achieved by Bernhard Langer (Germany) between 2010 and 2023.

The PGA Tour Champions is a men's professional senior tour open to players aged 50 and above. Langer’s victory at the 2023 US Senior Open saw him overtake Hale Irwin’s record of 45 wins on the tour. He has won all five of the tour’s major tournaments: the Tradition (2016, 2017), the Senior PGA Championship (2017), the Senior Players Championship (2014, 2015, 2016), the US Senior Open (2010, 2023) and the Senior Open Championship (2010, 2014, 2017, 2019).

Bernhard Langer makes history with latest PGA Tour Champions win, reflects on improbable journey

Bernhard Langer tied Hale Irwin for most PGA Tour Champions titles of all time.

Even with the tournament in hand, meaning a historic win was within reach, Bernhard Langer didn’t slow down. Probably because, even at 65 years old, Langer just simply doesn’t know how to slow down.

With a two-shot lead in the middle of the 18th fairway at the Chubb Classic Sunday, Langer pulled driver off the deck and made birdie on the par-5 finisher to win the tournament by three. The win is No. 45 for the World Golf Hall-of-Famer , which moves him into a tie with Hale Irwin for the most PGA Tour Champions titles of all time. He also extended his own record for the oldest winner on the over-50 circuit (65 years, 5 months, 23 days).

In reflecting on the accomplishment, even Langer admitted he thought this win was unattainable.

Bernhard Langer of Germany hits his tee shot on the second hole during the final round of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai at Hualalai Golf Club on January 21, 2023 in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.

The secret to Bernhard Langer’s remarkable longevity? This swing change

“It’s extremely special because we’ve been talking about it for so long it seems now,” Langer said. “When I first came out here, I thought, this is never going to happen. When I heard Hale Irwin had won 45 times, I’m going, this is awesome and amazing, and it still is and always will be.”

Langer admitted he wasn’t 100 percent sure of his position on the leaderboard while playing the 18th, leading to his decision to hit driver from the final fairway.

“I thought I had a one-shot lead and I needed to make par to win, and [my caddie] said, ‘You actually have a two-shot lead.’ And I said, ‘Well, I don’t trust leaderboards and all that,'” Langer said.

The birdie was the finishing touch of a 65 for Langer, the second time this week he shot, or bettered, his age after opening his title defense at Tiburon Golf Club with a 64.

He began the day with a one-shot lead over four others but was caught and passed early in the round. But the back nine was all Langer — he made five birdies while Padraig Harrington made a double and Dicky Pride bogeyed the final two holes. A 30-footer on 17 for birdie essentially sealed the victory.

Bernhard Langer waves to the crowd.

Superhuman Bernhard Langer breaks own record (again!), explains longevity

Langer became emotional when reflecting on the significance of the achievement, but admitted it still hasn’t set in.

“It will in the next few hours and days,” Langer said. “Just right now, I just feel relieved and grateful and thankful for everybody that’s been on my team and helping me through these years.

“For a German kid from a village of 800 people and starting as a caddie to do what I’ve done, it takes a lot of people to do that, not just one.”

Langer, who grew up self-taught on the golf course, was asked if his journey to this record was improbable.

“My whole life is an improbable story,” he said. “When you dive deep a little bit where I came from and what has happened in my lifetime, where I should have died as a kid, was extremely high fever, the doctors gave up on me — well, first of all, they told my mother not to have another child because when she got pregnant anyways. They told her to abort me, which she decided not to take the chance of killing herself and me, so we all survived.

“To make it just to earn a living was an incredible story, but then to make it to No. 1 in the world and to become one of the best players for many years, and what happened on the Champions Tour, we all know that, but a lot of stuff has happened in those earlier years that some people have no clue, and they were pretty miraculous.

“Maybe someday we can make a movie about it. It would be pretty cool.”

Three-time major champion Vijay Singh came from behind to win The Ally Challenge, his first Champions Tour victory in almost five years.

He carded a 4-under 68 Sunday to finish at 14-under par, one stroke ahead of three-time PGA Tour winner Jeff Maggert.

“It was a long time coming,” Singh said after his victory. “Whenever I tee it up on the Champions Tour, I have a chance to win. I’ve been working really hard... So I’m really happy with this win, and I look forward to the next events. I think my game’s coming around and this was the start of it.”

Singh’s last victory came at the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup Championship at the Phoenix Country Club.

Vijay Singh, PGA Tour Champions, The Ally Challenge

But he won Sunday thanks to a collapse from Paul Goydos, the 36-hole leader at The Ally Challenge.

At the par-3 17th, only 155 yards, Goydos made a costly triple bogey. He held the lead at 15-under but quickly plunged back to 12-under at the penultimate hole.

“I saw [Goydos] hitting it on the fairways,” Singh said of Goydos. “I said okay, back there I still have a chance. Then I looked at the scoreboard, I was [14-under], and Jeff was [13-under], and no Goydos. So I’m surprised what he did there.”

If golf fans recall, Goydos held the 54-hole lead at the 2008 Players Championship. But in that final round, Goydos shot a 2-over 74, which forced a playoff with Sergio Garcia .

Paul Goydos, PGA Tour, The Players Championship

The lone playoff hole happened to be the famous par-3 17th at TPC Sawgrass, where Goydos plunked his shot into the water. Garcia went on to win, which marked the biggest victory of his career before he won the 2017 Masters .

Goydos, meanwhile, never won again on the PGA Tour but did manage to claim five PGA Tour Champions events.

Funny enough, before this week, Singh had five victories on the PGA Tour Champions too. And because Goydos collapsed on the 17th—as he did all those years ago at TPC Sawgrass—Singh was left in the winner’s circle.

John Daly gets first PGA Tour Champions victory at Insperity Invitational

Long john has been on the senior circuit for a while, but this is his first win.

He kissed the painted umbrella on the grass honoring Arnold Palmer as he walked up the 18th fairway, and then he two-putted from 60 feet for his first PGA Tour Champions victory. John Daly took home his first grand prize on the senior circuit by shooting 69 in the final round of the Insperity Invitational to beat Tommy Armour III by a single stroke.

Daly shot scores of 68 and 65 to open the tournament and finished at 14 under overall.

Daly, who many presumed would rock the senior tour because of how long he still is off the tee, has struggled to this point. In his first 21 events, he did not notch any top-10 finishes. Until Sunday.

Rocking American flag pants Sunday, Daly got his first official victory on any tour since 2004 when he won the Buick Invitational. He did it the easy way, too. After building his lead early, Daly finished bogey-bogey-bogey to shoot the 69.

"Some guys come out here and win right off the bat, get the monkey off their back, but now I can say I'm a champion on the PGA Tour Champions," Daly told the PGA Tour after his win . "It's really cool and hopefully I can keep this confidence going."

Bernhard Langer wins U.S. Senior Open, sets mark for career wins on PGA Tour Champions

  • Associated Press

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Bernhard Langer won the U.S. Senior Open on Sunday at SentryWorld to break the PGA Tour Champions' career victory record.

Pushing his record as the oldest winner on the 50-and-over tour to 65 years, 10 months, 5 days, the German star broke a tie with Hale Irwin for the victory mark with No. 46.

"I have my mother that's going to be 100 on August 4th, so I think I have good genes," Langer said. "Hopefully, I'll be around a few more years."

Seven strokes ahead on the back nine, Langer bogeyed the final three holes for 1-under 70 and a two-stroke victory over home-state favorite Steve Stricker on the tree-lined course with thick rough.

"Never thought it would happen at a U.S. Senior Open, but I'm very thrilled that the record of 46 wins happened this week," Langer said. "It's certainly one of the greatest tournaments we ever compete in, and to beat this field, where everybody was here, especially Stricker and [Jerry] Kelly on their home grounds, is a very special feeling."

Langer finished at 7-under 277, with only eight players breaking par for the week. He shattered the tournament age record set by Allen Doyle in 2006 at Prairie Dunes at 57 years, 11 months, 14 days.

"There are a lot more aches and pains than 10 years ago," Langer said. "I still enjoy the game. If I play like I did this week, I'm going to keep playing. There have been the odd week when I thought, 'What were you doing out here? Go home and play with the grandkids.'"

The two-time Masters champion has a record 13 victories since turning 60 and holds the top five spots on the oldest winners list. He has multiple victories in 11 straight seasons and 14 overall.

Also the 2010 U.S. Senior Open winner at Sahalee outside Seattle, Langer extended his record for senior major victories to 12. He won the Chubb Classic in Florida in February to tie Irwin.

Stricker -- from Madison, 100 miles to the south -- birdied three of the last five holes for a 69.

"It gives all of us hope, I guess, that are out here still playing that we can continue to play as good as he's played for such a long time," Stricker said about Langer. "It's really impressive. I knew he wasn't going to back off today."

Stricker won the first two senior majors of the year and took his hometown Madison event three weeks ago for his fourth Champions victory of the season.

"It seemed like I had a poor nine holes in there every day, and that just ended up costing me the tournament," Stricker said.

Kelly, also from Madison, was third at 4 under after a 71.

"I was way too amped up," Kelly said. "I was trying to be settled and calm, but I was talking more than I have all week. I was moving a little bit faster than I have all week."

Two shots ahead of Kelly entering the round, Langer birdied the first two holes for the second straight day.

Langer added a birdie on No. 5, then rounded from a bogey on No. 6 with birdie on No. 7. He opened the back nine with a birdie on the 10th, parred the next five and closed with the three straight bogeys.

"It was not easy," said Langer, who earned a spot next year in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. "My age probably showed up toward the end."

Brett Quigley (66) and Rob Labritz (69) tied for fourth at 2 under. Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (71), Steven Alker (65) and Dicky Pride (69) were 1 under.

"The rough was difficult and, as many fairways as I missed, I think I did OK," Goosen said. "I was like a cow out there just eating cabbage the whole time."

Langer, paired with Goosen the first two rounds, sacrificed distance for accuracy to stay out of the rough.

"I think that's one of the reasons I did so well. I didn't hit it in the rough very often," Langer said. "Took many 3-woods off the tees at times, but then I had to hit 3-wood into the green or a very long club. But I'd rather do that than hit driver and wedge it out from the rough."

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.

Know More about this tour

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.

Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.
