The doobie brothers.

The Eagles possess one of the most storied careers in all of music. The California group, formed in 1971, have sold more than 200 million albums globally with six releases reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 through their final studio album, Long Road Out of Eden (2007). The band also holds the record for best-selling album in the United States with the 1976 compilation Their Greatest Hits 1971-1977 certified 38-times platinum. Their immediate follow-up Hotel California , released later that year, ranks third on the U.S. all-time best-seller list at 26-times platinum. The Eagles made an instantaneous imprint on rock music with their indelible 1972 debut single “Take It Easy,” and over the years released five No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 including “Best of My Love,” “Hotel California” and “Heartache Tonight.” The band earned six Grammys throughout their career, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Founded by Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner, the Eagles have forged ahead as a live outfit featuring Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

Top of my Bucket List! I can die a Happy Woman! The best concert I have ever seen!

One of my top fav Concerts

So glad I was able to get tickets to attend this final tour of the Eagles. They did not disappoint. The harmonies are just as good as they sound on radio or previous recordings, amazing. Loved that they posted a message before performing discouraging recording of performance and standing blocking others view around you (I had my 79 yr old Dad with me, so standing for over 2 hrs would have been tough). Vince Gill is such an asset to the band and fits in beautifully singing many a classic Eagle song. Left on a high note with “Heartache Tonight” as final song! Well worth the money and time!

An incredible show. Really impressed with Deacon Frey. He sounds just like his dad. Joe Walsh was on fire! Whew.

Great show. Sounded more country.

The Eagles were excellent as always, but were not the same. I miss Glenn Frey as I'm sure many other fans did.

Eagles, amazing! Shuttles were AWEFUL!

The Eagles concert was phenomenal! The line for the Shuttles to Xzavier Prep took 1 1/2 hours to get back to my car. Unbelievably UNACCEPTABLE. There should be a special exit route for the shuttle buses. Not the same route as the thousands of cars leaving the parking lot.

Love the Eagles

Their performance was incredible! I wish they have more concerts in the East Coast!

Show was awesome, security was annoying.

The Eagles put on a stellar performance, as always. Vince Gill's opener was delightful and the main act was breathtaking. However, there were some very militant security personnel on the floor that were very distracting. Commendable to keep people's phones down, but the constant flash lights glaring at the offenders and verbal interruptions really ruined the concert vibe. I hope they tone it down in the future.

Eagles final concert?

Very professional show top of the line joe walsh wS top gun

Extremely happy with the long goodbye! We go to a lot of events and the Eagles with Vince Gil and Deacon Frye was the best show we’ve seen in a long while.

This was an amazing show! Saw them 3 times! Raleigh, Orlando and Charlotte! Would see them again if given the chance!! Thank you to the Eagles for the decades of amazing music!!

The eagles announce “the long goodbye” – the band’s final tour.

"The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.  So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.  But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

With love and gratitude, The Eagles

The Eagles Announce “The Long Goodbye” The Band’s Final Tour

Tickets On Sale Friday, July 14 at 10:00 Local Time

High-res photos HERE

LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye”  will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan,  will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.  In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.  Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum.  After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

The “Long Goodbye” tour is proudly presented by Live Nation.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe, keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals, and setbacks of many kinds,” said the band in a statement. “Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long-run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

Still in its planning stages, according to the band, with more dates possibly added on at a later date, the 12-date tour will feature Steely Dan .

The final tour, featuring the Eagles’ Don Henley , Joe Walsh , and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, is currently scheduled to start on Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and go through several major cities within the U.S. before wrapping up on Nov. 14 in Lexington, Kentucky.

“We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round,” said the Eagles. “So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.” The band continued, “We hope to see as many of you as we can before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

Baltimore tripleheader: Orioles home opener; Bruce Springsteen, Eagles band at CFG Bank Arena

If you’re a local baseball fan — or just a fan of classic rock — it’s a great weekend to visit Baltimore, Maryland.

Not only does Friday mark the home opener at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, it also marks the launch of the newly renovated CFG Bank Arena with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performing on Friday and the Eagles band on Saturday.

“Baseball has doubleheaders; I’m offering you a tripleheader: You have the Orioles, Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles all in one weekend,” CFG Bank Arena General Manager Frank Remesch told WTOP. “If you’re going to do it, go big or go home. Between Bruce and the Eagles, can you get any better of a weekend? Are you kidding me?”

His personal favorite Springsteen song is “Glory Days,” but he says it’s impossible to pick a favorite Eagles tune.

“I have friends that I hang out with, we’re very eclectic from country to rock ‘n roll, from Megadeath to John Denver, and the one group that everyone agrees upon is the Eagles,” Remesch said. “You forget how many No. 1 songs that they’ve had until you just sit back and listen, so this one-two punch is a bucket list for me.”

It should be a bucket list for everybody. The Boss ranks No. 12 all-time on the RIAA’s list of artists with the most albums sold , while the Eagles rank as high as No. 4, behind only The Beatles, Garth Brooks and Elvis Presley. All of those legends have played the venue since it first opened as the Baltimore Civic Center back in 1962.

“Elvis has played here, Led Zeppelin has played here, The Beatles have played here and Garth Brooks has played here,” Remesch said. “That’s what’s great about doing what they did and keeping the history of this building. I can still go back and say, ‘The Beatles walked right where that stage was, Martin Luther King gave a speech on that stage,’ and then I have a new building on top of it, so somewhere in these hallowed halls are those souls.”

The venue has had numerous names from Baltimore Arena to 1st Mariner Arena to Royal Farms Arena before sitting empty during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a Guns N’ Roses concert in fall 2021, it hosted the CIAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments before being bought by the Oak View Group for 11 months of renovations.

“This isn’t lipstick on a pig, this was a 100% evisceration of the inside of the building, nothing was left but the pillars,” Remesch said. “It’s absolutely beautiful, the amenities are first-rate, it looks like a brand-new building on the inside, the bars, bathrooms, hallways, suites — we only had two suites before, now we have 38 — and the acoustics were totally overhauled. … The worst seat in my house is pretty much the suite level in other buildings.”

The exterior of the building also got a makeover with two outdoor terraces on the third and fourth floors holding 160 and 140 people each. These aren’t some exclusive VIP experience; they’re open to anyone with a general admission ticket, featuring a bar window to order your favorite beverage as you sip outside with city views.

CIAA Basketball

“The outside is going to be gorgeous,” Remesch said. “We’re doing a brand new marquee and lighting system that basically covers two sides of the building that’s all electronic, you’ve got to see it at night, nothing like it, totally modern. Then we did a total green space outside, as much as you can in the city surrounded by four streets.”

The spring and summer lineup also features:

  • Adam Sandler on April 21
  • New Edition on April 22
  • Lizzo on May 9
  • Janet Jackson on May 13
  • Anita Baker on May 14
  • Blink-182 on May 26
  • Bryan Adams on June 6
  • Chris Stapleton on July 15
  • Thomas Rhett on July 21
  • Lionel Richie with Earth, Wind & Fire on Aug. 19
  • Queen with Adam Lambert on Oct. 4
  • John Mayer on Oct. 20
  • KISS farewell tour on Nov. 29

“Pre-COVID, I was probably doing about 105 shows a year, 20 to 25 concerts and maybe one or two A-listers; now I’ll do 130 a year, 60 concerts and 40 A-listers — that shows you the difference,” Remesch said. “We (previously) drew about 560,000 (people per year); we’ll be over a million now. You can extrapolate those numbers out about what it does for the local economy. … Just like the MCI Center did for Chinatown, you’ll see that here too.”

The Eagles announce 1st dates for final tour: 'This is our swan song'

the eagles tour 2023 baltimore

WASHINGTON — After more than 50 years of touring and selling out arenas worldwide,  rock icons the Eagles are saying farewell. The legendary band announced their upcoming "The Long Goodbye" tour will be the band's final one.

The Eagles revealed the first 13 dates for their upcoming farewell tour on Thursday, adding that  depending on demand they may return to some cities more than once later on.

Steely Dan, the Eagles' long-time contemporaries and fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, will open each show on the tour.

"We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful," the band said in a statement. "Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle."

"Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on,” The Eagles said.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available for purchase Wednesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. ET through Thursday, July 13 at 10 p.m. ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. ET.

During "The Long Goodbye" tour, the Eagles — consisting of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands, with the tour expected to continue into 2025.

Since forming in 1971, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, with more than 150 million albums sold worldwide — with the coveted title of best-selling album in history ("Greatest Hits 1971-1977").

The band has won six Grammys from 18 nominations, including Record of the Year in 1978 ("Hotel California").

Bill Belichick Teaming Up With 'Pat McAfee Show' for 2024 NFL Draft

The ex-Patriots coach lands his first analyst job.

  • Author: Kristen Wong

In this story:

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick will be co-hosting a live event with the “Pat McAfee Show” at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, ESPN’s Pat McAfee announced on his eponymous show on Wednesday.

The live event, dubbed “The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular,” will start at 7:30 p.m. ET on April 25 and can be streamed on YouTube, TikTok and ESPN+. The special offers fans a non-traditional broadcast option to watch the upcoming draft, utilizing “a wide range of personalities and analysts to break down picks while also emphasizing the Draft experience from a fan perspective.”

McAfee invited Belichick on his show on Wednesday to deliver the news.

“Coach, I just announced to the world something that we’ve been chatting about for like the last month and half or so,” McAfee told Belichick. “So incredibly pumped and thankful that you’ll be joining us next Thursday night in Detroit for the countdown and for the draft.”

We're so INCREDIBLY PUMPED Coach "I'm looking forward to it and Draft Weekend is always an exciting time.. It'll be fun to be with you guys and get your expertise" ~ Bill Belichick #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/VnjLzVcuSb — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 17, 2024

The 72-year-old Belichick was passed up for NFL head coaching jobs this past hiring cycle after parting ways with the Patriots at the end of the 2023 season. Amid speculation over his future, the eight-time Super Bowl champion is reportedly expected to sign a deal as an analyst with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions , known for producing ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program, “ManningCast.”

“I’m looking forward to it,” Belichick said of the Draft Spectacular. “Draft day, draft weekend, it’s always an exciting time for everybody, for the teams, for the fans, for everybody involved in it. It’s a great event, and I’m looking forward to seeing it from the outside. It’ll be fun to be in Detroit, to be with you guys, and get your expertise.”

Browns returning to white facemasks beginning in 2024.

Around The NFL Writer

The Browns are turning back the clock with a uniform adjustment in 2024.

Cleveland is giving its helmet a minor makeover, ditching the brown facemasks in favor of a return to white, and reverting its matte orange helmet shell to a glossy finish. The Browns revealed their changes on Wednesday, complete with an accompanying update to the team's helmet logo.

A new era of Browns football returns. pic.twitter.com/92oDngzzXO — Cleveland Browns (@Browns) April 17, 2024

Cleveland first wore gray facemasks when the protective gear was initially introduced in the NFL, but switched to white facemasks in 1975, pairing them with the introduction of the now-beloved orange pants that featured striping matching their helmets. Though the orange pants eventually disappeared in the mid-1980s, the white facemasks remained until 2006, when the club returned to gray facemasks in honor of the team's 60th anniversary of its inception.

The Browns debuted brown facemasks as part of the team's radical 2015 redesign -- which included the change to a matte orange helmet finish -- and although those kits only lasted for the league-required minimum of five years, the brown facemasks and matte finish carried over into their 2020 shift back toward their traditional look. Since then, Cleveland has introduced throwback sets, including an all-white homage to the team's first uniform, which featured drop-shadow numbers. After first being paired with a throwback orange helmet, they were eventually matched with a new all-white helmet -- which included a brown facemask -- in 2023.

During that time, the Browns also occasionally swapped out their brown masks for white, pairing this helmet with brown jerseys and orange pants as a nod to the team's beloved 1980 Kardiac Kids. Though the look was initially planned to honor the 40th anniversary of the 1980 team in 2020, the Browns didn't debut the alternate set until Week 15 of the 2022 season, a 13-3 win over Baltimore. They rolled out the same uniforms for a Week 11 win over Pittsburgh in 2023, instantly sending scores of fans back into the glory years of the 1980s (and the less-prosperous first decade of the 2000s), and prompting them to ask for a permanent return to white facemasks.

Browns ownership listened and delivered, largely resetting the team's current look to the same kits worn when Tim Couch led the expansion Browns into the new millennium.

Cleveland's facemask shift isn't the first in which an NFL team ditched one mask for a white replacement. Buffalo made such a change permanent in 2021 after fan response to the alternate look was overwhelmingly positive.

The Browns are following suit, relying on history and fan support to justify their change.

Joe Flacco to speak at Commencement

Article by UDaily Staff Photo courtesy of Joe Flacco and Delaware Athletics April 17, 2024

Class of 2024 ceremony set for May 25 in Delaware Stadium

Joe Flacco, NFL quarterback, Super Bowl MVP and 2008 University of Delaware graduate, will deliver the 2024 Commencement address at his alma mater on Saturday, May 25, UD President Dennis Assanis announced today.

“We are so thrilled to welcome Joe back home here at UD where he created a legacy for other outstanding Blue Hen student-athletes to emulate,” Assanis said. “Joe embodies the UD values of leadership, teamwork, perseverance, excellence and resilience. We are incredibly proud to call him our own, and I know that his remarks will inspire the graduates of the Class of 2024.”

The Commencement ceremony, scheduled at 9:30 a.m., May 25, in Delaware Stadium on the University’s Newark campus, is a ticketed event, open only to graduating students and up to four guests. An estimated 4,000 graduates are expected to attend, with approximately 16,000 family and friends. The ceremony also will be livestreamed.

About Joe Flacco

A UD alumnus with a degree in accounting, Joseph Vincent Flacco has spent his career as a National Football League quarterback.

In 2008, he was a first-round NFL draft pick (18th overall; the highest recruit from Delaware) by the Baltimore Ravens. He led the team to the six playoffs, three AFC championships, and the Super Bowl XLVII title in 2012, when he was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Flacco has since played for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.

Signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad in November 2023, the Blue Hen quickly found himself as the starter. His 1,616 passing yards and 13 touchdowns are both the most in NFL history by a quarterback who made his debut in the final six games of a season. Flacco's 323.2 passing yards per game led the league in 2023, and he became the first quarterback in Browns history to have 300-plus passing yards in four straight games. After leading the team to a playoff berth, Flacco won the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year. In March 2024, he was named a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts.

At Delaware, Flacco set 20 school records, including yards passed in a single season (4,263 in 2007) and career completions (595).

He still recalls the acclaimed matchup against Navy, where he threw for 434 yards, and the five-overtime game against Richmond, which UD ultimately lost, but which stands out in Flacco’s mind as one of the most memorable games he’s ever played.

In 2018, he and his wife, Dana, made a significant gift to UD Athletics to support the University’s Whitney Athletics Center, a one-stop facility for all 600-plus student-athletes in all 21 D1 sports programs.

“Some of my biggest memories at UD were playing in the stadium and having 22,000 people excited about winning football games,” he said in a 2021 UD Magazine profile . “I remember how cool it was to play there and how passionate the people were, and I want all the players coming through to have the same experience I had.”
