Legoland Malaysia is one of THE BEST activities for families in Malaysia. However, there are some very important things you need to know before your trip. In this article we will answer all of your questions and give you all the information and advice to help you plan your trip to Legoland Malaysia.

If you are traveling Malaysia with kids we do recommend a visit to Legoland Malaysia.

Legoland Malaysia has the main Legoland park, a theme park with a range of epic rides and activities. The Legoland water park has a range of slides, wet play areas and a kids water play house. The SEA LIFE aquarium is full of fascinating, beautiful and bizarre species. This is a great place to teach children about the beauty and importance of our oceans.

Where is Legoland Malaysia located?

Legoland Malaysia is located in Johor Bahru on the south tip of Peninsular Malaysia. Legoland Malaysia is actually located around 15 km to the west of Johor Bahru city centre.

Legoland malaysia with toddlers

Legoland is suitable for children of any age including toddlers and babies. Some of the rides in the Legoland theme park are restricted by height and age. However, there are still loads of activities and rides suitable for younger children. If you want to visit the theme park with a baby or toddler, we recommend the imagination section. This section has a lot of activities and rides which are suitable for babies and toddlers.

Children over 100 cm tall and over four years old should be able to go on most of the rides, if accompanied by an adult.

What’s more, some of the bigger slides in the Legoland water park are restricted by height and age. There are still plenty of activities suitable for babies and toddlers at the waterpark. There is a shallow baby pool, with a small slide and water play activities.

Are there lockers at Legoland Malaysia?

Lockers are available at the main entrance, the great Lego race, Dino Island and at the water park. Other rides and roller coasters offer space to store bags at the start of the ride. Be aware however these are not lockable spaces. Locker prices are as follows:

Small locker rental one day RM20

trip to legoland malaysia

One of the things we absolutely love about Legoland Malaysia is the sheer variety of activities. That really is something for everyone. This means that you can plan a very balanced and enjoyable itinerary for the whole family.

The Legoland theme park

The Legoland theme park is an extensive park with a range of different creative themed sections. That’s to Legoland theme park you will find over 40 amazing rides, shows and attractions.

Here are some of the things that you can do in the Legoland theme park. This is not a comprehensive list of all of the rides and attractions at Legoland Malaysia. Rather, these are just a few of the rides and activities to give you a feel for the variety of experiences available at Legoland Malaysia:

The Dragon (Lego Kingdoms)

Legoland Malaysia Dragon

This is the biggest and fastest roller coaster at Legoland Malaysia. The Dragon is for anyone who needs a good adrenaline rush. The Dragon is a fast and exciting roller coaster, a guaranteed adrenaline rush. The dragon roller coaster starts by going through an indoor castle exhibition and then suddenly speeds outside up a steep climb, and then speeds around a winding track.

Children aged 6 and above and over 100 cm tall can ride the dragon if accompanied by an adult. For younger kids check out the Dragon’s Apprentice roller coaster (minimum height 105cm and 4 years old).

Rebuild the world exhibition

This is an activity designed to develop dexterity, creativity and problem-solving. This is an air-conditioned exhibition with several Lego stations. Children design and build Lego structures to add to a collective piece of artwork in the centre of the room. Children can build animals, vehicles and buildings to add to the giant Lego globe in the centre of the room.

trip to legoland malaysia

Around the room you can also see amazing lego sculptures to inspire children’s imagination. This also affords a well earned break for parents! There is a such a variety of activities at Legoland Malaysia. They occasionally switch the theme of this section.

We love for use of Japanese decorations and trees all around the building here.

4D Cinema (Imagination Zone)

trip to legoland malaysia

If you need a little rest they also have a 4D cinema at Legoland. Admission to the 4D Cinema is free of charge and included with your entrance ticket. Just arrived at the show time and you can walk straight in. The 4D Cinema shows a range of different 4D adventure lego movies throughout the day. If you have never experienced a 4D movie before, we highly recommend stopping by.

trip to legoland malaysia

At the 4D Cinema they give you special 3D glasses and they also include other elements that have the fourth dimension to the experience. For example wind and rain (don’t worry this is more like spray).

The Observation Tower (Imagination Zone)

trip to legoland malaysia

The observation tower is a large rotating lift. This is a slow, steady and scenic ride. If you do the observation tower you are seated and looking out at the glass window which affords a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Legoland park and the surrounding areas. This ride takes around 10 minutes.

Top tip: If you are not sure which rides to go on, taking a ride up the observation tower allows you to see the park from above and get inspired.

The Aquazone Wave Racer (Lego Technic Zone)

trip to legoland malaysia

The Aquazone Wave Racer is a fun water ride that spins you over the water. You can ride the Aquazone Wave Racer without getting wet. Children over 100cm and 6 years old can ride the Aquazone Wave Racer accompanied by an adult.

Dino Island log flume (Land of Adventure)

trip to legoland malaysia

The Dino Island log flume is a boat ride with a dinosaur theme. The boat leads around a river with Lego dinosaur exhibits. The Dino Island ends with a splash. Like all the best log flumes that is a huge exciting drop finishing with a massive splash. If you ride to Dino Island log flume all of your clothes will be wet through. Don’t take any cameras, phones or valuables on the Dino Island ride. We recommend doing this activity in swimwear before visiting from Legoland Water Park. Also, be aware that kids need to be at least 110 cm tall and over six years old to ride the Dino Island log flume accompanied by an adult.

The Imagination Zone park

trip to legoland malaysia

If you are visiting Legoland Malaysia with a toddler, the Imagination Zone is the place for you. The Imagination Zone is an area of the theme park that has small climbing frames and rides for younger children, such as the Lego train ride.

trip to legoland malaysia

We love the fact that the imagination zone is also covered by a large canopy to provide shade from the intense sun.

The remote control boats (Lego City)

trip to legoland malaysia

If you are looking for something a bit slower and more serene check out the remote control boats at the Boating Lake in Lego City. This is a great option if you just need to chill out or you are looking for activities with younger children at Legoland. Additional fees apply for this activity.

The Great Lego Race (Lego Technic Zone)

trip to legoland malaysia

Welcome to the world’s first virtual reality roller coaster! This roller coaster is designed to be ridden with a virtual reality headset. Experience the acceleration and wind of this roller coaster with a virtual reality simulation headset on.

trip to legoland malaysia

Since the covid pandemic Unfortunately they have not been using the VR headset due to the risk of contamination. This roller coaster is still a lot of fun even without the VR headsets.

The Technic Twister (Lego Technic Zone)

Get dizzy on the Technic Twister. On this ride you sit in a compartment with your friends and as the whole platform spins around, you can also spin a wheel in the middle to make your friends even more dizzy.

Legoland express

trip to legoland malaysia

This colourful Lego themed train runs a loop route around the park allowing you to look at all of the attractions and fun of the park. The Legoland Express is not a way of getting around, rather a way of relaxing and enjoying the exciting scenery on getting inspired by the range of rides, attractions and shows this amazing park has to offer.

The Miniland exhibitions

And definitely do not miss the Miniland Lego sculptures. Perfect for anyone who loves Lego and travel. The Miniland Lego sculptures are located at the center to Legoland theme park. These impressive multiples of themed on various iconic parts of the world. Don’t miss the Petronas Towers, Angkor Wat Temple, the Taj Mahal and much much more.

Remember, this is only a selection of the amazing rides, activities and shows at Legoland Malaysia. For a full list of

Sea Life at Legoland Malaysia

trip to legoland malaysia

Sea life at Legoland Malaysia is in an indoor Aquarium. Sea life has a range of fish tanks and glass tunnels that allow you to get up and close to amazing underwater species. Experience the fascinating, bizarre and beautiful at Sea Life. From colourful starfish to eerie jellyfish and elegant sharks, Sea Life has it all.

trip to legoland malaysia

We absolutely love the “touch a starfish” activity. This is great for kinaesthetic learners. Which child doesn’t want to touch some amazing creatures in an aquarium?!

trip to legoland malaysia

The seahorse tank is strangely mesmerizing. It feels like you could spend the whole day just gazing at these bizarre animals.

trip to legoland malaysia

We were also impressed by the big glass tunnel with a range of larger fish. You can see plenty of black tip reef sharks swimming around this tank. And don’t miss the large strange humphed parrot fish too. And if you want to see something spine-tingling don’t miss the jellyfish tank.

trip to legoland malaysia

Sea life at Legoland also has exhibitions and activities to help children understand the importance of protecting, conserving and respecting our oceans.

On a personal note, as a papa who loves scuba diving and free diving, I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this amazing underwater world with my children.

trip to legoland malaysia

My youngest son is only 2 years old, and yet he was able to gaze at some of these incredible animals with me. And hopefully this will inspire him by the beauty of our oceans.

trip to legoland malaysia

It is possible to walk around this Aquarium in 45 minutes. But in our opinion this would be rushed. Although there are so many exciting things to do in Legoland Malaysia, we would encourage you not to rush Sea Life.

trip to legoland malaysia

It is easy to miss how amazing this place is. If you have time, we would really encourage you to slow down and enjoy learning in this beautiful place.

trip to legoland malaysia

Top tip: If you have a ticket to access all areas of the park but you are only here for one day, we recommend visiting the aquarium at the hottest part of the day. The aquarium is air conditioned and will provide a restful and enjoyable experience to break up the day.

The Legoland Water Park

trip to legoland malaysia

The Legoland water park is right next to the Legoland theme park. At the entrance to the Legoland Water Park there are changing rooms, showers, toilets and lockers.

trip to legoland malaysia

The Legoland water park has water activities suitable for every age. They have a lazy river with floating Lego pieces and floating rings. They have a shallow pool for babies and toddlers with small slides and squirty animals.

trip to legoland malaysia

They have a large water adventure castle with slides, nets, splash buckets and more. Don’t miss the Legoland wave pool (they have life jackets for non-swimmers) and of course sun loungers so parents can take a well earned break!

trip to legoland malaysia

The Legoland water park also has a selection of faster slides for older children: If you are looking for a competitive adrenaline rush try out the mat racer slide. You ride down this speedy slide on your front holding onto a foam mat and see if you can beat your friends to the bottom.

trip to legoland malaysia

Alternatively, if you want to have some fun with friends try out the large ring slide. These large rings can accommodate a group. Speed down large funnels and tubes as you pray that your ring doesn’t flip over.

trip to legoland malaysia

One of the things we absolutely love about the Legoland water park is, at the bottom of all the faster slides, there is a Lego boat activity. This is great for younger children who are not allowed to ride on the faster slide. You can build a lego boat and then race it down the small waterway.

Can you buy food at Legoland Malaysia?

trip to legoland malaysia

Yes you can buy food at Legoland Malaysia. The Legoland Malaysia theme park has a wide range of cafes and restaurants available with different types of food on offer. You can also buy refreshing cold drinks around the park too.

If you are looking for a large range of food and an indoor seating area check out Pizza Mania located in the imagination Zone. Side dishes start with around 10 ringgits each (roughly £2 or $2.50). Expect to pay around 20-30 ringgits for pastas and chicken (roughly £4 – £6 or $5 – $8). Pizzas range between 40 – 60 ringgits (£8 – £12 or $10 – $15) depending on the size and topping.

trip to legoland malaysia

The different types of food and prices vary quite a lot throughout the park at different outlets. For example, a burger at the Kings Grill (Lego Kingdoms) costs 100 ringgits (around £20 or $25). If you grab a burger at the Burger Junction in the Land of Adventure it will cost around 40 ringgits (around £8 or $10).

trip to legoland malaysia

Some of the food Outlets have vegetarian and vegan food options available. Drinks typically cost 5 – 10 ringgits (around £1 – £2 or $1.30 – $2.50) at most food outlets at Legoland Malaysia. It is worth being aware that they do not have any water fountains or water dispensers to top up water bottles. Cold 500ml water bottles can be purchased from food outlets for around RM4. Be aware that Legoland has a “no outside food” policy.

Are there shops near Legoland Malaysia?

Legoland Malaysia is located next to a small shopping mall Called the Mall of Medini (sounds exotic doesn’t it?) This shopping mall has a supermarket called Big. There are also several small restaurants nearby and a Starbucks.

trip to legoland malaysia

Oh yeah and make sure you don’t miss the epic Legoland gift shops too!

What is the resort like at Legoland Malaysia?

trip to legoland malaysia

Legoland Malaysia has its very own resort. The Legoland resort is a magical themed hotel, the perfect place to stay and celebrate your time at Legoland. Everything about the Legoland resort screams fun. On the lift you even have a disco ball! And we absolutely love to play areas in the reception too. The rooms in the Legoland resort each have a unique, creative and interesting theme.

trip to legoland malaysia

Legoland Hotel guests also get a special offer for the Legoland park: Get 2-Day Combo Ticket to Legoland Theme Park, Water Park and Aquarium for the price of 1-Day Combo Ticket.

How do you get to Legoland Malaysia?

If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur there are several ways to get to Legoland Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur.

1 Take a bus: 5 hours, 70 ringgits

trip to legoland malaysia

The cheapest way to get to Legoland Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur to take a bus.

Buses from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru run from the Kuala Lumpur TBS bus station (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) in the south of Kuala Lumpur. From KL sentral, take the KLIA transit line. If you get off at the first stop (Bandar Tasik Selantan) you can walk across a pedestrian bridge to the TBS bus terminal. It is possible to buy bus tickets on arrival at the terminal or to purchase them in advance online. A bus ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru should cost in the region of 25 to 35 ringgits.

trip to legoland malaysia

The Bus Journey from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru will take around 5 hours (including a stop) and drop you off at Larkin bus terminal in Johor Bahru. From the Larkin bus terminal you can’t take a taxi ( use Grab ) to Legoland for around 35 ringgits. This is a long journey we recommend staying at Legoland or nearby. Also if you are travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru by bus in Malaysia, be aware that they do not generally have toilets on board. This can be quite tricky if you are travelling with young kids.

2 Take a train: 8 hours, 90 ringgits

trip to legoland malaysia

It is possible to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru by train. However, the journey is quite slow and more expensive than bus.

Another way to get to Johor from Kuala Lumpur is to take a train. That is no single train line running all the way from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru. Instead you need to take an ETS train from KL sentral to Gemas. This leg of the journey takes around two and a half hours. The train from kl sentral to Gemas costs around 30 ringgits. At Gemas you need to change to a KMT train to JB sentral. The second leg of the journey takes around 5 hours. The train from Gemas to JB Sentral costs around 20-30 ringgits. When you arrive at JB Central Station you can take a taxi to Legoland. The taxi will cost in the region of 30-40 ringgits.

3 Take a flight: 1 hour (flight time) 200 ringgits

trip to legoland malaysia

Another way to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru is to take a flight. This is a particularly good option if you are short of time. Several Airlines operate the route between Kuala Lumpur on Johor Bahru. For example, AirAsia (the local budget, no thrills airline) operates flights from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru for around 150 ringgits. The flight itself takes around 1 hour. If you are taking short domestic flights, it is very important to consider transit time to and from the airport and additional waiting time at the airport for your total journey time. A taxi from the airport to Legoland is likely to cost around 40-50 ringgits.

Where can you park at Legoland Malaysia?

There is a large carpark located at the entrance to Legoland Malaysia. It costs RM10 per day to park. Take a card when you enter the carpark and then pay at the parking machines at the end of the day.

How does Legoland Malaysia fit into your itinerary?

If you are traveling around Malaysia, here are some ideas of how you can fit Legoland into your itinerary.

It is worth considering which other activities you would like to do around the south of peninsula Malaysia. For example, from Johor Bahru it is very easy to travel over land into Singapore. Alternatively, if you are interested in visiting the historic town of Malacca this is a short bus ride up the coast. If you are looking to visit islands in the south of Malaysia there are also some very beautiful islands, including Rawa Island and Tioman Island. These are great spots for snorkeling and diving.

21 Essential Legoland Malaysia Tips + Legoland Malaysia Map for 2024

' src=

Looking for some helpful Legoland Malaysia tips? You’ve come to the right place!

My family and I lived next door to Legoland® Malaysia resort for over six months.

During much of that time, we enjoyed all three amusement park areas multiple times a week. It is one of our favorite theme parks we’ve visited! And we’ve been to a lot of them!

Based on that experience, this Legoland blog has all our top Legoland Malaysia tips that will help ensure you have the best visit possible.

After all, I couldn’t keep these tips to myself. I’ve been sharing them with friends, so obviously you need to know, too!

Legoland Malaysia Hours & Pricing

Location : 7 Jalan Legoland, 79100 Nusajaya, Johor, Malaysia Hours : 10 am – 6 pm Wednesday to Monday; closed Wednesdays

Legoland Malaysia Ticket Prices, Single Day: 💲 Theme Park: 199 RM/adult, 169 RM/child 💲 Water Park: 149 RM/adult, 129 RM/child 💲 Aquarium: 89 RM/adult, 69 RM/child 💲 Theme Park/Aquarium Combo: 279 RM/adult, 219 RM/child 💲 All 3 Parks Combo: 339 RM/adult, 279 RM/child

👉 Save money by buying Legoland passes in advance!

Kids under 3 enter all parks for free. Seniors aged 60 and over are given the discounted child rate at the parks.

There are also discounted rates offered to Malaysian MyKad cardholders as well as Singaporeans.

Pro Tip: If you plan to visit all three parks twice on your trip, it’s cheaper to buy an annual triple park pass than a single ticket.

There is no combo ticket option just for the theme park and water park. If you have a combo ticket, you have the option to exit the park for more food options outside.

However, with a single-park ticket, you cannot re-enter if you leave the park. Not even for food. So don’t exit the park until you are done with your visit.

When to Visit Legoland Malaysia

Visiting Legoland Malaysia takes a bit of planning if you don’t want to be rained out or spend half your day waiting in line. And we found that on any given day, the chance of rain can be pretty high.

These Legoland Malaysia tips help you plan to visit at just the right time of day as well as the time of year.

Legoland Malaysia Travel Tips

Visitors to Legoland Malaysia can enjoy a variety of attractions and activities, such as exploring Miniland, trying out thrilling Legoland Malaysia rides, and discovering what to do in Legoland Malaysia through interactive exhibits and shows.

Legoland Malaysia resort is a lot of fun. It’s one of the best family resorts in Malaysia !

Based on our extensive time spent at the park, here are a few Legoland tips and tricks to make your Legoland Malaysia trip even better! All in one easy Legoland Malaysia blog post.

1. Avoid Weekends

Avoid school holidays too. And national holidays, like Christmas and New Years . If you have absolute flexibility, check the school holiday schedules for both Malaysian and Singaporean public schools.

It tends to get a tad busier on international school holidays but not nearly as crowded as when either of the country’s public schools is on a break.

Little Man looking at a crowd in front of the Legoland Malaysia Ninjago ride.

2. Arrive Early in the Day

Get to Legoland right when the park opens. Especially if you are visiting on a weekend or during a school holiday. The crowds are much smaller before lunchtime.

If you arrive before the crowds, then you can do more activities before there are lines for everything.

Plus, if you’re there when the gates open there’s a little dance party at the entrance each day. It’s fun!

Little Man waiting at for the opening of Legoland Malaysia. One of our Legoland Malaysia tips is to arrive early so you can see the opening show!

3. Check the Weather Forecast

Legoland Malaysia weather is pretty reliable. One of the best Legoland Malaysia tips we got was to be prepared for the rain and you won’t be disappointed.

In the afternoons it rains pretty often. When this happens, they shut some rides. They also shut down the entire water park during rain and thunderstorms.

The weather is another reason for #2 above.

My family in front of the Legoland Malaysia entrance on a sunny day. Watching the weather is one of my essential Legoland Malaysia tips.

4. Book Tickets in Advance

You can buy your tickets to Legoland Malaysia online. If you do this, you can buy tickets from the Legoland Malaysia website.

Or, you can save money by going with one of our favorite Asian travel apps.

👉 Klook offers single-day Legoland Malaysia tickets at a discount!

Buying tickets online in advance is only available for single-day tickets. If you’re planning on buying an annual pass, you must do it in person at the gate.

They take your photo and print it directly onto your personalized plastic pass card.

5. Download the Park Map

Unfortunately, there isn’t an app for Legoland Malaysia. However, there are some great Legoland Malaysia maps so you can plan your day more effectively!

The Legoland map Malaysia includes the theme park, the waterpark, and the aquarium all in one place.

The Legoland Malaysia theme park map is really helpful for planning ahead, one of the best general Legoland Malaysia tips.

Legoland Malaysia theme park map

6. Don’t Follow the Crowd

When we first visited Legoland Malaysia, we followed the crowd and turned right after the entrance. Don’t do that!

Everyone wants to do Lego City Junior Driving School first. It’s really fun, so I don’t blame them. However, there’s a long line first thing in the morning.

Turn left at the entrance, and you’ll have that entire side of the park practically to yourself.

We found that when we did that, especially on weekdays, we could ride some things several times in a row without even getting off and reboarding!

One of our Legoland Malaysia travel tips is to turn left, and ride the aquaracers first!

7. Stay Hydrated

I’m pretty sure you know this but it’s hot in Malaysia. There isn’t always a lot of shade in some parts of Legoland Malaysia.

While there are some drinking fountains and misters around the theme park, they are sporadic.

One of my essential Legoland Malaysia tips is to be prepared. Have your own water on hand.

You can bring bottles of water into the park and the snack carts around the park sell them as well.

8. Do the Outdoor Stuff First

The Aquazone Racers on the left side of the park are our favorite way to start the day. It’s right across from the VR roller coaster and is a great spot to beeline to on arrival. We like to ride a few things multiple times while everyone is still at the front of the park first thing in the morning.

Save indoor activities like Sea Life Malaysia, the Lost Kingdom Adventure, and the Lego City Stage for the afternoon.

This way, whether it’s extra hot or raining you will have done all the fun outdoor stuff already. You can cool off or dry off indoors without regretting that you missed something on your visit.

David and Little Man crouched and looking at a Legoland Malaysia aquarium exhibit

9. Visit the Playgrounds

Visitors often wonder what to do at Legoland Malaysia. Thankfully, there is a playground in each section of the Legoland Malaysia theme park.

Most of them are covered so they are another excellent way to escape the sun on a hot afternoon.

One of the playgrounds even has a small train for the kiddos to ride. Little Man rode that one a bunch of times with his friends.

Even at age 7, he didn’t feel too old to enjoy riding it!

Little Man playing on a playground at Legoland Malaysia

10. Plan to Eat at the Park

If the security guards at the gate see food in your bag, they will not let you enter. This means you’ll either have to throw it away or take it back to your car or your room. If the former happens, you’ll have wasted money. If the latter happens, you’ll lose your place in line and have to wait to get in all over again.

Pro Tip: Don’t take food unless it’s a small, hideable snack.

I’ll admit, we have taken a couple of granola bars at the bottom of our bag in case Little Man got hungry. However, we never take full meals with us. We had a friend who tried do to that and was turned away at the gate. While a water bottle is usually okay, food isn’t.

Little Man hugging a very large lego ice cream build with two scops of ice cream in a bowl with a lego chef figurine on top holding a spoon.

11. Check the Maintenance Schedule

Before you go to Legoland Malaysia, check the website for ride maintenance dates.

When we went back to Legoland on the reopening day after the pandemic hit, the observation tower was closed for maintenance.

We were so excited to return after the theme park’s extended closure that I didn’t check the maintenance schedule in advance. Rookie mistake!

The Legoland website shows the ride maintenance dates typically up to a month in advance.

So checking a few weeks before your trip should accurately reflect the available rides when you’re there.

In addition, they tend to announce other closures on their Facebook page .

Legoland Malaysia sign that the Dino Island ride was closed for maintenance

12. Souvenir Shop at the End of the Day

While some of the same stuff as the mall Lego stores are for sale here, there are also some cool specialty items you will only find at Legoland Malaysia.

Your kids (and likely you!) will want to see what sort of cool stuff you can snag during your visit. However, you aren’t going to want to schlep it all over the park for hours on end.

The trinkets and souvenirs aren’t going anywhere. Stop in the stores to look during the day, but don’t make any purchases until you’re ready to leave.

This will also help ensure you (or your kids) really want whatever it is your (or their) heart desired earlier in the morning.

Legoland Malaysia Tips: What to Bring to Legoland

You already know to leave the outside food at home. But what do you need to bring to make your day a success?

With our Legoland Malaysia tips for packing, you’re sure to have a great time!

13. Waterproof Day Pack

Since you need to be prepared for rain, it makes sense to have a bag that will repel water if you do get rained on.

It will also ensure that the contents of your bag don’t get wet after you ride Dino Island.

14. Proper Swimwear

Legoland Water Park does not permit visitors to swim in leggings, athletic clothing, or jeans. To swim, you must have an actual swimsuit.

Burkinis and bikinis are all permitted as long as the attire is designed for swimming.

Note: Kids under 3 are required to wear waterproof swim diapers when entering any swimming or water attractions at the waterpark.

If you haven’t spent a lot of time in Malaysia, it’s important to note that swimming attire tends to be more conservative.

Every time we went to the waterpark at Legoland, almost no one was wearing a bikini. It wasn’t frowned upon to wear them, but revealing clothing and swimwear isn’t common. I’d recommend leaving thong swimsuits at home.

David, Little Man, and some friends running into the wave pool at Legoland Malaysia.

15. Umbrella

There are umbrellas and even ponchos for sale at Legoland Malaysia if you get in a real bind. However, they are incredibly overpriced.

It’s much easier to pack a pocket-sized umbrella or two in your day bag.

16. Waterproof Waist Pouch

I’ve raved about waterproof waist pouches for a while now. I’ve worn them all over Legoland Malaysia as well as to hot springs in Mexico .

This will hold your cell phone, room key, car keys, credit card, and cash. Plus it’ll keep them all safe and dry, whether you’re on Dino Island for the 5th time or enjoying the wave pool at the waterpark.

17. Dry Clothes

You want a set of dry clothes for everyone, ideally. However, at the very least have some fresh clothing for your kid(s).

Little Man standing on the bridge above a water ride waiting to get sprayed at Legoland

Whether they get wet on a water ride or soaked in a rainstorm, kids tend to be less patient walking around in wet clothes than their parents.

This is especially true if you plan to see some shows or a 4D movie. The aircon in the theaters and live shows is chilly.

You do not want to sit through those with kids in wet clothes. Trust me. I’ve done it.

18. Stroller

The park is very flat and stroller-friendly. If you don’t bring one, though, you can also rent one.

Note: The guest services counter near the entrance offers strollers for rent.

If you have kids who are used to walking everywhere and have an abundance of energy, good for you.

But if you have kids who get really whiny while walking under the hot sun, then keep them and yourself sane by renting strollers at the park.

They offer single and double sizes, so you can easily accommodate multiple kiddos if necessary.

Whether or not you go to the water park, bring at least one towel. Bring one for everyone if you go to the water park.

We like to bring a small, travel-size towel made from microfiber. It soaks up a lot of water quickly and also dries fast.

I also love that it doesn’t take up much room in my day bag!

20. Sunscreen

If it’s not raining in the afternoon, it’s going to be very hot and sunny. There doesn’t seem to be an in-between type of weather at Legoland Malaysia.

Make sure you pack a large bottle of sunscreen next to your umbrella!

Even with checking the forecast, you never really know what kind of weather you’ll have. It’s better to prepare for everything.

21. Water Bottle

There are disposable water bottles for sale at the theme park. However, it’s better for the environment for you to bring your own and refill it as needed.

We travel with a 2L water bladder. It holds enough water for us to get through most of the day at the theme park. Plus, as it empties it takes up less room in our day bag.

How To Go from Johor Bahru To Legoland Malaysia

The easiest way to get from Johor Bahru, including the Senai International Airport, is by Grab . We’ve used this rideshare service all over SE Asia, including in Singapore and Malaysia.

You can also hire a private driver to pick you up. This may be easier if you have a lot of luggage unless you call a Grab XL to fit your extra bags.

We travel light and our bags plus our family of three barely fit in our Grab from the airport to our Legoland Malaysia apartment.

The ride from the Johor Bahru airport to Legoland is 20 minutes, and it’s 30 minutes from the Johor Bahru City Center.

If you’d rather take the bus, that’s also possible. From Senai International Airport, take Causeway Link AA1 shuttle bus services to JB Sentral.

Transit to Causeway Link LM1 Bus services to go to the Mall of Medini drop-off area. From here, it’s an easy five-minute walk through the mall to the entrance of Legoland Malaysia Resort.

How To Go To Legoland from KL

The easiest way how to go to Legoland Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur is by car. If you drive your own car or get a rental, it takes approximately 3.5 hours.

👉 I recommend using Discover Cars for renting a car on your trip!

It’s also possible to take the bus between KL and Legoland. There is a direct Causeway Link Bus departing from the Swiss Garden Hotel KL in Bukit Bintang and arriving at Legoland Malaysia.

The bus costs 256 RM. Services depart once daily and operate every day. The journey takes approximately five hours.

How To Go from Singapore To Legoland Malaysia

With young kids, I find it a pain holding their hands as well as my luggage while waiting at customs.

👉 I recommend families hire private chauffeured cars for their trips to Legoland from Singapore.

It’s possible to travel from Singapore by bus. However, doing so in a single day isn’t really possible due to the limited departure times.

The bus departs only in the afternoon so by the time you take the bus there, it’ll almost be time to leave. You’re best off spending a night in a nearby hotel if you travel to Legoland Malaysia by bus.

If you do want to go by bus, there are two ways to do so. From the Woodland checkpoint, take Causeway Link LM1 bus services to the Mall of Medini. For how to go to Legoland from Singapore Tuas Link (via Second Link), take the Causeway Link CW7 bus services to CIQ Second Link. From there, take the Causeway Link CW7L bus to the Mall of Medini.

Bottom Line: The best way how to go to Legoland Malaysia from Singapore is by private car or taxi. This makes crossing the border much quicker and easier. However, the most budget-friendly option is a bus or to take a tour that includes your Legoland tickets.

Where to Stay Near Legoland Malaysia

We spent the night at the Legoland Malaysia hotel for Little Man’s birthday one year.

The stay offers breakfast in the restaurant at a nominal extra cost, and there’s even a rooftop pool just for hotel guests. It’s really a great resort for a quick trip in Malaysia !

👉 Hands down, the best place to stay near Legoland is the Legoland Malaysia hotel .

The rooms at Legoland Hotel Malaysia are built for families with two separate sleeping areas.

One for adults and one for kids with a bunk bed and even their own TV. The best part is that the rooms come in a range of themes.

Legoland Malsyaia tips for hotels: stay at least one night at the Legoland resort hotel. It's worth it!

You can choose between a pirate, kingdom, Lego Ninjago, or adventure theme. Regular rooms face the parking area and premium rooms overlook the theme park.

Other Hotels Near Legoland Malaysia

If you want to be within walking distance of Legoland Malaysia, then the Medini area is an excellent choice.

👉 We lived next to the Ramada by Wyndam and it’s very nice.

The hotel near Legoland Malaysia is only a 15-minute walk to both Legoland Malaysia and Mall of Medini. It has a coffee shop and restaurant on the ground floor.

There is also a grocery store and another restaurant next door at the Meridin at Medini residences.

Puteri Harbour and Eco Botanic

For hotels further away, both Puteri Harbour and Eco Botanic offer a variety of amenities. We have spent time in both areas and they have some great family-friendly restaurants.

👉 Trinidad Suites Puteri Harbour is located at the waterfront.

It offers on-site parking and a nice pool. The hotel is also centrally located near restaurant row at Puteri Harbour, so you can eat somewhere different every night of your Legoland Malaysia holiday .

Legoland Malaysia tips for places to stay: go to Legoland hotel, Medini, Eco Botanic, or Puteri Harbour.

Eco Botanic is a more residential area, with few hotels. However, they have some of our favorite restaurants in the area near Legoland Malaysia. There’s also a really fun board game cafe there!

It’s a great spot to check out if you want ideas for what to do near Legoland Malaysia!

There is also a FREE daily shuttle bus from Eco Botanic to the shopping areas at Educity and Aeon Bukit Indah.

👉 This 2-bedroom vacation rental in Eco Botanic has a full kitchen that sleeps up to six people. It’s great for large families!

What is the best time to visit Legoland Malaysia?

For best results, optimal weather in Johor Bahru is February, June, July, August and September. On average, it is hot all year round. The rainiest months are  April, November and December .

Rainy season in Johor Bahru is quite unpredictable. Some days it’s sunny and bright, other times it pours down heavily without any notice. So don’t be afraid to visit Legoland Malaysia during rainy season.

Final Thoughts on Legoland Malaysia Tips

Legoland theme park in Malaysia has so many things to do. It’s a totally different experience than a Malaysian beach break, like Langkawi .

Having a few extra Legoland Malaysia travel tips makes it easier and more enjoyable to plan your Legoland itinerary for a family trip to Legoland Malaysia.

Our family and some friends at Legoland Malaysia

While this isn’t exactly a Legoland Malaysia review blog post, I should note that it is definitely aimed at little ones and families. A couple of the roller coasters are thrilling. Little Man even got scared on one of them. However, adrenaline junkies will be rather disappointed.

Note: Some of the rides at Legoland Malaysia theme park have height maximums so adults can’t ride them at all.

While I do recommend Legoland Malaysia for adults, you can expect to get through it quickly if there aren’t crowds.

In addition, it’s possible that some activities and attractions on your Legoland Malaysia itinerary won’t be much fun for you.

One of our legoland malaysia tips is ride the ride without your kids while they're at a free robotics class!

Bottom Line: Is Legoland Malaysia worth it?

For our family, definitely yes! Visit with an open mind and enjoy the family travel experience.

Seeing your kiddos enjoy their time there will hopefully make the experience more fulfilling.

They picked us up from our hotel/condominium and transported us to the mall where our tour bus awaited. Inside, we joined fellow tourists who were also part of the tour. Our guide for the day was Mr. Mcpall. Mr. Mcpall Darma, affectionately referred to as Mc (humorously clarifying he had no connection to McDonald's), proved to be an exceptionally informative, witty, and entertaining tour guide. He commenced by providing a concise history of Malaysia before delving into details about the destinations we were about to explore: The Batu Caves, Genting Island, and, of course, the souvenir shops. His narratives not only enriched our understanding of each location but also offered valuable insights on how to efficiently utilize our time at each stop. Meanwhile, Mr. Kassim, our skilled driver, ensured a secure journey. His cautious driving, particularly noticeable to us as we were seated near the bus door, put our safety first. To wrap up our memorable day, they kindly accommodated our request to drop us off at the Petronas Towers, allowing us to capture a lasting image as we concluded our tour. Legoland Opening Hours

Legoland Malaysia is usually open every day of the week, except most Wednesdays and occasional Thursdays. The hours will vary by day and season, so you'll want to check their site before going to confirm their hours.

In general, this theme park is open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, Legoland Malaysia will be open for extended hours, until 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm depending on seasons.

⚠️ Attention:

Legoland Malaysia Ticket Prices

If you're planning on just going to Legoland Malaysia, you'll pay US$28.08 for children/senior and US$28.08 for adults .

I'd suggest buying the 1-day double-park ticket if you're trying to get the full experience with your kids. This costs RM for children and RM249 for adults. It gives you access to both the Legoland theme park and SEA LIFE.

And if you're really ambitious, there's the 1-day triple-park ticket. This costs US$46.79 for adults. For 1 day, you can visit the theme park, SEA LIFE, and the water park.

If you're lucky enough to live in the local area, or you're planning on visiting Malaysia a lot, there's also the annual pass. The prices are as follows for children and adults:

Online Ticket Purchases

If you want to plan ahead, it's always a good idea to prepurchase your tickets so all you'll have to do is present them when you get to the theme park.

You can actually buy your tickets on Trip.com, which I highly recommend. You'll get 10% off on Legoland Malaysia combo tickets!

Accommodation

To make it a truly unforgettable experience for your kids, you should book a stay at the Legoland Malaysia Hotel . There's a grand Lego entrance and the entire building looks like it's made out of Lego bricks, so your little ones will fall in love right away.

Legoland Malaysia Hotel

Inside, your children will be just as enamored. There are 249 rooms to choose from and they have various themes, such as pirate, adventure, kingdom, etc. There's free Wi-Fi in all public areas and 24-hour front desk service.

This hotel has an outdoor pool, as well as Bricks Family Restaurant and Gourmet Bricks Restaurant on the premises.

Things to Do at Legoland Malaysia

Once you've got all the details down, you're probably wondering how to make the most of your day at Legoland Malaysia. We'll show you our favorite places to visit here…

Lego City

One of the best parts of Legoland Malaysia is Lego City. Basically, take everything in the real world, transform them into Legos, and you'll get Lego City!

Attractions in this area include:

● Driving School

● Lego City Airport

● Legoland Express

● Lego Frontliners Mural Display

● Boating School

● Lego City Stage

● Duplo Express

● Junior Driving School

● Rescue Academy

● The Shipyard

From zipping around in Lego boats and riding in Lego trains and cars, to "flying" in planes, your family will enjoy Lego on water, land, and the air. There are also attractions for younger children (such as Duplo Express and Junior Driving School), so they don't have to feel left out when their older siblings go on some of these rides.

Map: Going To Legoland From Singapore

The distance from Singapore to Legoland Malaysia is approximately 45 kilometres although this depends on exactly where you are coming from in Singapore. The Singapore to Legoland Malaysia travel time is approximately an hour but this heavily depends on how busy the border is.

The map below shows how to travel from Singapore to Legoland Malaysia.

BEST OPTION: How To Get From Singapore To Legoland Malaysia

We can book you a private taxi from Singapore to Legoland here . It is by far the easiest option and only costs SG$90 for up to five people.

Here is a summary of all the options for how to get to Legoland from Singapore. Below, each of these are elaborated with exact instructions.

Option 1: Singapore to Legoland By Bus

If you want to take a Singapore to Legoland Malaysia bus, there are two choices – the yellow public Causeway link buses going to Legoland from Singapore or a Legoland shuttle bus Singapore.

Catching the Causeway link buses are cheaper but they take much longer and can be confusing. They can also be very full and aren’t great if you have luggage, young children or doing a day trip and want to maximise your time at Legoland. I wouldn’t recommend this option at all if you want to do a day trip to Legoland.

A coach to Legoland from Singapore is much faster – it is just going straight there (although you will still need to get off at the border) and there should be more space. It should also wait for you at the border instead of having to find a new bus. However, there is less flexibility of what time you will depart and where to catch them from.

Causeway Link Bus To Legoland Malaysia

When it comes to how to go to Legoland Malaysia from Singapore by bus, there are a few options depending on where you are departing from.

In all cases, you are looking for yellow Causeway Link buses. You are going to have to catch a few of them as none are direct to Legoland and you’ll need to get off the bus at each side of the border, go through immigration and then wait for the next bus to come.

Looking at Google maps can be the best way to sort out exactly what buses to get from where you are in Singapore to Legoland.

But basically, you can look for Causeway Link CW1 (Kranji MRT Station), CW2 (Queen Street), or CW5 (Newton Circus). They will take you to the Woodland Checkpoint (Singapore immigration).

From here, hop back on a Causeway Link bus to the customs at Johor Bahru to enter Malaysia. Once you have entered, you’ll need to hop back on a Causeway Link bus going to JB Larkin station.

From here, you can take Causeway Link, LM1. It’ll take you to Mall Of Medini which is a short walk to Legoland. The big downside is that this bus only runs every 90 minutes. It takes about 45 minutes.

The Singapore to Legoland bus fare is approximately SG$7 all up. The Singapore to Legoland Malaysia bus travel time will depend on where you depart from and how busy the border is. From downtown areas in Singapore, two and a half hours is normal and that’s if you get a good connection for your second bus.

You can read more about Causeway Link buses here.

Singapore Legoland Shuttle

The WTS Travel Singapore to Legoland coach departs from Singapore Flyer and goes directly to Legoland Malaysia every morning.

The Singapore flyer bus to Legoland generally leaves at 9am and returns at 5:15pm but this can vary and there can be multiple departures at peak times. When border times are short, the Singapore flyer to Legoland travel time is only about an hour.

Click here for more information and to book the coach from Singapore Flyer to Legoland Malaysia.

There are also other options for how to go from Singapore to Legoland Malaysia by coach with different departure points including Golden Mile Tower, Boon Lay, Tuas and more. If you are looking for how to get from Singapore airport to Legoland Malaysia, you can also get a shuttle bus to save you needing to go into the city.

Click here to see all options.

These are the only bus options I recommend for a day trip to Legoland. Note that you’ll still need to exit the bus at both sides of the border.

Option 2: Taxi From Singapore To Legoland Malaysia

If you want to go from Singapore to Legoland by taxi, you can’t catch any taxi in Singapore. It has to be an especially licensed Singapore taxi or a Malaysian taxi.

I recommend a Malaysian taxi as a Singapore taxi can only take you to Larkin Bus Terminal in Malaysia and then you will need to take a second Malaysian taxi to Legoland Malaysia.

You can take a Malaysian taxi across from Singapore at the Ban San St. Taxi Kiosk on Queen St. This is straightforward and they can drop you off at Legoland. This taxi should take about an hour if lines aren’t long at the border.

A huge plus of taking a taxi is that you don’t have to get out of your car at the border. They can drive you through.

Make sure you also take into account that you need to get to the taxi stand in Queen Street. It is near Bugis MRT.

Since this still costs S$80, I recommend you take the next option, of a private transfer, which is only slightly more, holds up to 5 people and will pick you up from anywhere in Singapore. You can also book this for a certain time so you don’t need to worry about getting stuck waiting for a taxi.

This is especially the case for the return journey, as you’ll need to make your way from Legoland to JB Larkin before you can catch your taxi which is about 20-30 minutes away.

Option 3: Singapore To Legoland Private Transfer

The easiest answer for how to get from Singapore to Legoland Malaysia is by private car. You can book a private transfer that will pick you up from wherever you want in Singapore and drop you off at the entry to Legoland in Malaysia.

This way you don’t need to worry about getting to taxi or bus stops and can relax when going through the border. You won’t have to leave the air conditioned comfort of your car

A private car Singapore to Legoland is more expensive at SG$90. However, if you have the budget, this will make your trip to Legoland so much more enjoyable, especially with kids. For this price, you can have up to five passengers. There’s also larger vehicle options for bigger groups.

You can book it here.

You can also book the return journey for the same price. It’s far and away the best way to visit Legoland, especially on a day trip.

Option 4: Singapore to Legoland By Car

If you have your own car in Singapore then the best option may simply be to drive across.

As stated above, the Singapore to Legoland distance is about 45 kilometres and at times when the border isn’t busy, you could be across in as fast as 50 minutes.

Legoland Malaysia Lego Ninjago The Ride

Option 5: Singapore Legoland Tour

Another easy option for a Legoland day trip from Singapore is to simply take a tour. A tour will include transfers and entry tickets to Legoland Malaysia.

This is a very easy way to go.

You can see more options and book a tour here.

However, it can be much cheaper to simply book return private transfers yourself here and then book your discounted Legoland admission here . It’s also more flexible to do this.

Want the Easiest (and BEST) Way to travel between Singapore and Legoland?

We can book a taxi for you from anywhere in Singapore directly to Legoland for a great price.

A taxi is the best way to cross the border as you don’t have to leave the air-conditioned comfort of your vehicle, and you can have maximum time at Legoland.

LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore – a complete guide

LEGOLAND Malaysia makes a fun and exciting holiday side trip from Singapore. Here’s how to do it quickly, easily and cheaply!

The Singapore Flyer coach to LEGOLAND Malaysia

The Singapore Flyer coach to LEGOLAND Malaysia

Well run, good quality and good value as a bonus, LEGOLAND Malaysia makes a fun and exciting holiday side trip from Singapore. But if you’re like me, you like to do your research first – particularly if you are taking your kids to a foreign country.

We test-ran two of the main ways to get your family to LEGOLAND from Singapore – here’s how it went!

No time to read? Watch our Singapore to LEGOLAND Malaysia bus video

No time to read watch our legoland to singapore private car trip here.

A lot of Australians want to visit LEGOLAND during their Singapore holiday – but for many, it may seem a little daunting. Where exactly is it? Is it hard to get there? Are you allowed to go to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore?

We found that even as a family with teenagers, a visit to Malaysia LEGOLAND is definitely well-worth the effort. Once you’ve got the logistics worked out, it’s really quite easy to get yourself and your fellow LEGO lovers singing “Everything is Awesome!” in beautiful LEGOLAND Malaysia in no time!

Is there a LEGOLAND in Singapore?!

The LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel

The LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel

No, there isn’t a LEGOLAND in Singapore – but there is a LEGOLAND very close to Singapore!

It was just a week before we left for our Singapore trip when I learned that there was a LEGOLAND near to Singapore. Upon further research I found it was actually in a neighbouring country – Malaysia. But how exactly do you get to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore?!

Can you drive from Singapore to Malaysia?

The Johor Strait is the water (and border) between Singapore and Malaysia spanned by two bridges

The Johor Strait is the water (and border) between Singapore and Malaysia

Despite Singapore being an island, thanks to two long bridges across the water that separates the two countries – the Johor Strait – you can actually drive from Singapore to Malaysia LEGOLAND! No ferries to Malaysia and LEGOLAND are needed! But what is needed is specific vehicles with cross-border permission.

Being only one hour’s drive away from Singapore Airport, it seemed really doable to me. I was determined to make a trip to LEGOLAND Malaysia happen!

LEGOLAND Malaysia makes a great Singapore day trip or overnight trip

LEGOLAND Malaysia is a fun family destination only one hour from Singapore

LEGOLAND Malaysia is a fun family destination only one hour from Singapore

I shuffled our still-rough Singapore itinerary around (no mean feat when the Singapore attractions we were visiting were closed on certain days!) so that we had a whole free day and night. Then I started researching how to get myself and my girls to Malaysian LEGOLAND.

Can you go to LEGOLAND Malaysia as a day trip from Singapore?

Yes. As Malaysia LEGOLAND is only one hour’s drive away from Singapore, it’s definitely possible to visit LEGOLAND Malaysia as a day trip from Singapore.

The LEGOLAND bus arrives mid-morning at leaves at at 5:15pm in the afternoon. So you do miss out on some afternoon/evening fun time. A private car trip would give you extra time, as you can choose pick up time.

That said, I wouldn’t recommend doing LEGOLAND as a day trip from Singapore if you have a night to spare. The reason being that then your kids would be missing out on staying at one of the most fun hotels for kids in the world , Malaysia’s LEGOLAND Hotel! And Unlike some other theme park main hotels, a night or two at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel isn’t hugely expensive.

Malaysia LEGOLAND hotel rates are reasonable in comparison to Singapore hotels – so it’s not costing you any more than staying in Singapore for the night. (LEGOLAND in Malaysia is even cheaper to stay in than California LEGOLAND, but it’s just as fun!)

How far is LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore?

Singapore is an island. It’s connected to the Malaysia mainland via two long bridges spanning the Johor Strait. The bridge we crossed to get to LEGOLAND was named the Johor-Singapore Causeway.

Iskandar Puteri where LEGOLAND is located is 30 minute’s drive from the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru.

LEGOLAND Malaysia is around a 45 minute drive from the Singapore central business district.

LEGOLAND is around one hour’s drive from Singapore’s Changi Airport. Changi Airport is the huge international airport you will fly into from Australia (if you can, allow some extra time to explore this amazing airport’s family attractions!).

How far is LEGOLAND Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur?

LEGOLAND Malaysia is three and a half hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. So LEGOLAND Malaysia is actually located a lot closer to Singapore.

Crossing the Singapore-Malaysia border

The Singapore border check point

The Singapore border check point

The travel times I’ve mentioned from Singapore don’t take into account any possible delays at the Singapore-Malaysia land border checks, which can be hard to predict – anywhere from about twenty minutes all together, to maybe taking an hour or more.

There are two customs checkpoints either side of the Johor Strait bridges – one for each country.

On our trip, we went straight through each of the border checkpoints with no delay either way. It took around five to ten minutes at each check point.

My family test-ran two ways to get to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore

We test ran two easy ways to get to LEGOLAND Malaysia

We test ran two easy ways to get to LEGOLAND Malaysia

I decided we would try the two main ways to get from Singapore to LEGOLAND Malaysia and back, so that I could let you know which worked best. We took a coach there and a private car back.

Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages, but each were safe, effective ways to go. They did differ in price, and so convenience. My comparison between the two ways to get to LEGOLAND from Singapore is coming up!

Things you need to know before you go to LEGOLAND Malaysia

The following information is everything I found out about traveling to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore and back, visiting the main theme park and staying overnight at the LEGOLAND Hotel – which I highly recommend.

Our LEGOLAND trip was taken in August 2022, so prices, conditions and wait-times may vary according to your travel dates – double check everything and feel free to use this article as a useful planning tool.

What day is LEGOLAND Malaysia closed?

The same as the major Singapore tourist attractions, LEGOLAND Malaysia has days it is closed. The LEGOLAND theme park is currently closed on Wednesdays (January 2023), and the LEGOLAND Malaysia water park is closed on Tuesdays. The LEGOLAND Aquarium is open every day.

It’s important that you check if the LEGOLAND attraction you want to visit will be open on your planned visiting dates – this can also change if there are public holidays.

If you’re planning to take your family to Singapore Universal Studios too, make sure you schedule them both in before you buy the tickets for either, as Universal Singapore also closes on certain days.

For us, the main LEGOLAND theme park was where we wanted to visit (there is also a LEGOLAND Water Park and a LEGOLAND Sea Life Aquarium on site).

Check the opening dates status on their official website. It may even be wise to call LEGOLAND to double-check too.

Legoland Malaysia tickets

Another way is going through the motions of trying to purchase entry tickets on their official website simply to check that the dates are available (but you can save money by buying your entrance tickets on a third party ticket app like Pelago or the cheapest one that I could find, Klook ).

LEGOLAND Malaysia opening hours

The LEGOLAND Malaysia theme park is open 10am to 6pm (excepting Wednesdays when it is closed) some days and 10am to 8pm others – you really need to check on their website, because it varies from week to week.

The LEGOLAND Malaysia Water Park is open from 10am to 6pm every day (excepting Tuesdays when it is closed).

The LEGOLAND Malaysia Sea Life Aquarium is open from 10am to 6pm every day.

Do Australians need a Visa to go to Malaysia?

No.  Australians (tourists) don’t need a visa to enter Malaysia for a short stay (we stayed one night at the LEGOLAND Hotel).

Although Australian citizens holding an Australian Passport don’t need a visa to enter Malaysia, you MUST take your passport to enter.

Your passport is stamped both entering and exiting Malaysia at the land border.

On our passport stamp it says “permitted to enter for 99 days for social reasons”. You’ll see an example passport entry stamp in our passports in our bus video.

Do you need to be vaccinated to enter Malaysia?

From 1st August 2022 you are allowed to enter Malaysia regardless of your COVID-19 vaccination status and don’t require COVID-19 tests or quarantine.

The Singapore 3 day entry card

What you do need to get is another Singapore (3 days notice) entry card to re-enter Singapore upon your return. (More about this following)

Documents & COVID vaccinations Australians need to enter Singapore as a tourist (no visa)

When entering Singapore (even re-entering from Malaysia after you’ve just only just left Singapore to visit LEGOLAND), you’ll either need to be fully COVID vaccinated or do a prior COVID test.

Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Singapore without COVID testing   or   quarantine.

You’ll need to prove your vaccinated status with your Australian COVID Vaccination certificate – the International Vaccination Certificate (this is not just a copy of your Medicare one). It’s available from your Australian government My Gov account using a computer browser (not mobile phone browser) after selecting “Centrelink”.

You can show the Australian International Vaccination Certificate as official proof of your vaccinations upon entry into Singapore.

There is also an extra (non-compulsory but official) step to verify your vaccination status online at the Singapore Vaccination Check Portal  which I did, so we didn’t need to show any vaccination proof on our trip. ( I always carry copies of our vaccination certificates just in case though). I’d recommend doing this extra step before your trip to expedite your Singapore Changi airport entry processing.

What does Singapore regard as fully vaccinated?

Fully vaccinated is regarded as two doses for adults and whatever is considered fully vaccinated for your child in Australia at that time. My youngest (14 years then) had had two vaccination as per government recommendations at that time anyhow.

Fully vaccinated is currently regarded as two brand-acceptable vaccinations like Pfizer (except for kids under 12).

Can I go to Singapore if I’m not vaccinated?

Yes. If you’re not fully vaccinated you’ll need to do a PCR test prior to arrival in Singapore and hold travel insurance with a minimum coverage of SGD30,000.

This vaccination information is correct as of January 2023 – check the most recent Singapore immigration requirements at the Singapore Australian Embassy  official website here .

A 2nd Singapore SG Arrival Card is needed upon return from LEGOLAND

The MyICA Mobile App to fill out your Singapore Arrival Card

The MyICA Mobile App to fill out your Singapore Arrival Card

When visiting Singapore from anywhere, you are also required to lodge what is called an SG Arrival Card online using the MyICA Mobile app .

The Singapore Arrival Card is a FREE process. Don’t fall for scamming websites offering to do it for you for a fee or charge!

Make sure to keep the MyICA App on your phone to show proof of your lodged Singapore arrival card if necessary.

The SG Arrival Card must be submitted within the 3 days prior to your visit.

That doesn’t mean it has to be done at least 3 days prior. It means you can do it any time within that 3 days.

Therefore you’ll also be required to do an additional SG Arrival Card for your re-entry into Singapore from LEGOLAND Malaysia. Even if you’re only on a day trip to LEGOLAND.

The lodged online Singapore entry card and your Australian passport is all you need to re-enter Singapore when returning from LEGOLAND Malaysia.

How to fill in a Singapore Entry Card

The entry card is nothing to worry about. You can do it any time online within 3 days before arriving in Singapore from Australia or Malaysia.

Although it’s better to be prepared, if you forget to do it beforehand you can still fill the Arrival Card out on the LEGOLAND bus or in your private car on the way back to Singapore from LEGOLAND Malaysia – or even when you arrive at the Singapore/Malaysia border crossing checkpoint if you like.

Tip: If traveling by private car, ask your car company to provide you with your private car details (the registration number) prior to the day they pick you up so that you can fill out/lodge your Singapore re-entry SG Arrival Card in advance. This avoids the inconvenience of doing it in the car, or having to sit at Singapore Immigration doing it at the last minute.

For our return LEGOLAND trip entry into Singapore, I asked for the private car rego number from the company, and then lodged our Singapore three day entry card online whilst still at our Singapore hotel the night before we even left for LEGOLAND.

(When arriving in Singapore, you can literally do a Singapore entry card at Changi Airport if you wish. I saw people standing around doing them, so last minute doesn’t seem to be a problem. That said, I wouldn’t recommend that, as airlines may have their own requirements before you leave for Singapore)

How I filled in our Singapore entry cards

Singapore 3 day entry card

A section of my Singapore 3 day entry card

For my first SG Arrival Card, I put my departure date as my final departure date from Singapore, even though I was submitting a second SG Arrival Card for our return from LEGOLAND Malaysia within that time period. It didn’t seem to cause any issues, so I assume the departure dates don’t have to be precise with regards to a Malaysia side trip. The entry dates however, must be correct.

How long does it take to cross the Malaysia-Singapore border?

Delays at the border are possible dependent upon the day and time. It can apparently take up to an hour. We had no delays at all and went straight through both there and back. We were held up no more than five to ten minutes at immigration on both sides of the border, however we entered Singapore on National Day morning, a public holiday – so we may have just got lucky!

The cheapest LEGOLAND Malaysia tickets are on Klook

Klook has cheap LEGOLAND theme park tickets

I like to shop around for the cheapest prices for anything, so I researched the prices of tickets on the official LEGOLAND website, the third party app Pelago and the third party app Klook.

I purchased through Klook as it had the cheapest LEGOLAND Malaysia tickets at the time.

I also liked that you could downloaded the Klook app to your phone and then have your purchased tickets easily accessible.

I ended up using Klook for cheap tickets to several Singapore attractions as well – it worked really well for me during our trip. Another benefit was that the ticket codes meant no standing around in queues – you can go straight to the express entrance gates.

Which is the best way to get to LEGOLAND from Singapore? A comparison.

We trialed and compared the two main ways tourists usually take to get to LEGOLAND Malaysia easily. By private driver, and by coach.

The closest MRT station to the Singapore Flyer is “Promenade” – about a ten minutes walk away. The way we walked is marked on the above map in red. You are out in the heat and do need to cross major roads to get there. If you have little kids and suitcases, it may be wise to get a taxi or a Grab car to the bus stop.

About Singapore Taxis and Grab cars (Singapore Ubers)

You can catch a taxi to and from the bus station at the Singapore Flyer

Whilst in Singapore we caught taxis most of the time – particularly if we were short on time, or there was no convenient MRT station. Costs for taxis and Grab cars (Singapore’s version of Uber cars) are similar – the benefits of Grab (download the Grab app) are that you have already paid online so you don’t need to fumble around or wait at the destination to pay. Singapore taxi drivers/Grab car drivers don’t require tips.

Be at the WTS bus station 15 minutes early

WTS Coaches will tell you to be there half an hour prior. Be there 15 minutes prior – the driver didn’t appear or open the door until then and it’s hot to wait outside, even that early in the morning.

It was a Monday and we and one other person were the only people on the coach, so I really did appreciate the fact they were still running the service.

What happens at the Singapore Malaysia land border checks by coach

Once you set off, it really seems like you are at Singapore immigration in no time, right before the bridge crossing to Malaysia.

The coach stops and everyone gets off and walks inside the immigration building.

Singapore officials check your passport (Singapore don’t stamp your passport anywhere).

Your suitcases stay on the bus and the bus moves to meet you where you come out of the building at the other end.

This whole process only took 5 minutes. (This was a Monday morning at around 9am)

Everyone gets off and retrieves all of their suitcases and bags from the bus to take with them.

You proceed inside the immigration building to a desk where they check your passport and stamp it. Then you walk through to the bag checking area.

All bags are put on an x-ray conveyor belt, and you walk through an x-ray detector like you do at an airport.

Then you collect your bags and head back out to the bus which has moved down and is waiting outside.

Again, this whole process only took about 5 minutes.

O ne tip we were told by our coach driver is MAKE SURE THAT MALAYSIAN IMMIGRATION PUT THE CORRECT DATE ON YOUR PASSPORT STAMP. Apparently, it’s common for a wrong date to be put on by mistake, and then you may need to pay a fine later. It certainly can’t hurt to double-check that your passport date stamp is correct before you leave Malaysian Immigration for LEGOLAND. If you watch our video you’ll see an example of our passport date stamp to check.

We arrived at LEGOLAND Malaysia at around 10:30am. The coach drops passengers off at the main carpark, which on a Monday morning was mostly empty – we had to walk around 500 metres with our bags down a long, shaded concrete path. (our private car picked us up right at the Hotel entrance, so no walk)

The price of the WTS Travel Singapore Flyer bus to LEGOLAND Malaysia costs $13 Singapore Dollars per person.

How do I book a seat on the LEGOLAND Malaysia bus?

The company we used was WTS Travel. We encountered no problems with this company during our booking, payment and trip.

Using a private car service to and from Singapore to LEGOLAND is a very convenient, but of course much more expensive option.

Certain companies with a permit to cross the border offer this service. I used the company most talked about positively in Facebook groups (I have put all the contact details at the end).

I saw MOSTLY good reviews online (I did a bit of Googling and saw a couple of complaints on Trip Advisor I think, however overall, this company seem well reviewed and looked professional – one person complained they had been dropped off at the wrong hotel, one complained of bad driving) For us, fortunately the service was excellent.

When to book:

I arranged our journey a few days in advance in Australia and paid without any issues. I recommend pre-booking to be sure.

There were a couple of slightly worrisome planning issues that ended up fine, like when you message with the car company via Whatsapp, however they responded immediately no matter the time of day and were very efficient.

SGMYTAXI payment options – you can use a Singapore app to pay them but only in Singapore, so ask them for a link to pay them by credit card from Australia (there is an extra charge of a few percent – this was really the only option available to us).

Important notes:

For the company we used, booking and arrangements are done via the Whatsapp App. Keep your Whatsapp live on your phone for messages with the company.

How it went – private car from LEGOLAND to Singapore

We were picked up at the LEGOLAND Hotel front entrance

We were picked up at the LEGOLAND Hotel front entrance

The car driver picked us up at the front door of the LEGOLAND Hotel. He was early by 5 minutes and called me to let me know. He was very helpful and respectful and loaded our suitcases. The vehicle was a spacious, air conditioned and modern mini van.

The Singapore & Malaysia border crossings are much easier by private car

The big difference between the legoland coach and a private car is that you don’t have to get out of the car at the border..

At no point were we asked to get out of the car at either check point.

What happens at Malaysia Immigration by private car

Handing our passports to our driver - he handed them to the immigration officer

Handing our passports to our driver – he handed them to the immigration officer

After about twenty minute’s drive from LEGOLAND Malaysia, we arrived at the Malaysia Immigration car entrance.

The driver took our passports and handed them to the Malaysia Immigration officer. The immigration officer checked our identities by saying our names and asked us to lower our COVID masks one by one (this happened at any passport check at the time – masks are no longer mandatory).

The passports were stamped, and then we drove out of Malaysia Immigration.

Then we drove through and over the bridge to Singapore Immigration. The passport check happened the same way – we didn’t need to get out of the car. The van door was opened by our driver so that our faces could be seen and checked against our passports by the immigration officer.

The van tailgate was raised and our bags were somehow checked or xrayed whilst still in the back of the van. The car was quickly checked over at the same time. That was it. It was all easy and quick.

We spent no more than 5 minutes at each immigration stop and it was a much easier process than the coach, where you had to get out and physically walk through the customs halls with your suitcases.

Soon we were back on our way to where we wanted to go in Singapore – the Jurong Bird Park.

The private car to LEGOLAND price was about $150 AUD ($130 SGD) one way (it was a public holiday so cost an extra 30%). Normally it would be about $120 AUD ($100 SGD).

Can you get to LEGOLAND Malaysia using public transport?

Singapore MRT train system

The Singapore MRT train system

Yes, you can get to LEGOLAND Malaysia using the MRT train or a taxi and then change to public bus to cross the border, or just public bus all the way. There is also a specific Causeway Link Bus. Apart from it being cheap, you really aren’t going to save much money in comparison to taking the Singapore Flyer coach that we took – but you will lose some time due to the transfers. You’ll also need to know where and how to change public buses with kids and cases in tow. Time is money when you are on holiday, so I dismissed these options to get to LEGOLAND as not particularly feasible for tourists.

Legoland Malaysia train

There is also a train that crosses the border from Johor Bahru, a major city half an hour from LEGOLAND near the Malaysia/Singapore border, however this means you need to get to Johor Bahru first. Again, not straight forward, but perhaps a fun adventure if you have extra time and want to check out the city too.

Can you get to LEGOLAND Malaysia by taxi?

Yes, you can. There are special Singapore & Malaysia taxis who have permits to allow them to make the border journey. They are limited to leaving and dropping off a one point – Ban San Street Taxi Stand in Bugis in Singapore. This means no direct pick up or drop off to your hotel, so catching two taxis. There’s no great savings in using two taxis instead of one private car, plus they can’t pick you up at your hotel or LEGOLAND and make the entire journey in one go, so to me this method seemed overly complicated.

Can you hire a car and drive yourself to LEGOLAND Malaysia?

Apparently this is possible, however you would need to discuss crossing the border to Malaysia with the Singapore hire car company as many don’t allow it. You would also need to contend with Malaysia and Singapore street directions, tolls and border crossings.

So, which is the best way to get to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore – coach or private car?

It really depends on your budget and priorities.

Are you visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia on a tight budget? Take the LEGOLAND bus

WTS LEGOLAND Coach at the Singapore Flyer bus station

WTS LEGOLAND Coach at the Singapore Flyer bus station

If you have a tighter budget, the coach is cheap, comfortable and the border crossing is still simple.

If you have a larger family it may be closer to more cost-effective to go by car. For example, the three of us cost $39 Singapore Dollars by bus. The private car cost $130 Singapore Dollars – however it was a mini van, so could have carried two more people. Therefore the difference between the two would have been less, because 5 people would have cost $65 by coach.

In any case, the coach to LEGOLAND will cost significantly less than a private car and driver.

Is convenience more important to you than price? Order a private driver to get to LEGOLAND

Our SGMYTAXI at LEGOLAND Malaysia

If you have a higher budget, arrange a private car for an easier experience. You can be picked up at the airport or your hotel in Singapore, and be picked up at the door at the LEGOLAND Hotel. All at times that suit you, not a bus schedule.

You will also benefit from an easy border crossing without even having to get out of the vehicle.

Of course you pay much more. That’s the trade-off!

I hope my Singapore to LEGOLAND Malaysia guide helps you work out the best way for you to get your family to LEGOLAND Malaysia from Singapore.

Good luck with your decision, and have a wonderful time at LEGOLAND!

Looking at a trip to Singapore later in the year and wanted to do legoland but thought it was WAY to hard. You have now made it seem possible and not so overwhelming with your detailed blog. Thanks sooo much!!!! Also adding the AUD has given me an approx cost to help with budgeting. Amazing!

' src=

It’s such a good fun place to visit – if I had school-age kids, I definitely would not miss it – super easy to reach and cheap too if you use the bus service. The private car is more expensive, but it makes the trip even easier and Malaysia Legoland is just as much fun as California Including the hotel, although they are lacking the Castle hotel. I must say though that the swimming pool has to be one of the most beautiful – that view! Definitely worth taking the swimmers .

In the heart of Legoland, amid a Lego “ketupat” hunt, the tunes of the season echo (with an irreverent dose of Alamak Raya Lagi, mind you), ensuring this Hari Raya Aidilfitri season is a memorable one for those visiting the theme park.

It’s almost like visiting an open house celebration, but with the added dopamine rush of exploring a sprawling theme park.

As you step through Legoland’s gates in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, the “Nostalgia Raya” festivities greet you, extending until May 12.

So you still have time to make a dash to the brick paradise for this Raya swing, which has friendly staff ready to guide visitors through a series of Raya pop-ups, featuring activities like Lego “ketupat-weaving”, batik-painting and Lego lantern-making.

Watch out for the life-sized Lego figures when you finish taking photos with the beca (trishaw) to avoid knocking them over. The festive welcome from the staff was just the start, setting the stage for the high-energy adventures that awaited within the theme park.

For both newcomers and seasoned annual pass holders alike, Legoland remains a theme park full of surprises.

A young boy taking part in a Lego ketupat-making activity, which is part of the 'Nostalgia Raya' festive season programme at Legoland.

Staying at the Legoland Hotel nearby is an excellent way to ensure that families and kids get into full bricking mode, with brick pits in the hotel lobby, oversized foam blocks in the swimming pool, and themed rooms featuring favourites like Ninjago and Friends.

Since its launch in September 2012, Legoland has expanded significantly, adding numerous park attractions over the years. The park has introduced new franchise attractions and integrated local content, offering visitors something refreshing every time they visit.

Like any trip to a theme park, the secret is to pace yourself and create the perfect experience through careful planning. Or, if you prefer, you could simply embrace spontaneity and let the kids decide on whatever sparks their fancy (it’s their day out, after all).

A must-see among the new attractions is Miniland Amazing Malaysia (introduced last year), celebrating the nation’s iconic landmarks and cultural sites while showcasing its remarkable architecture.

Numerous attractions, locally developed at the Legoland Model Shop in Johor Baru, showcase the theme park’s evolution through a diverse array of homegrown highlights.

The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, the largest Lego model in Miniland Amazing Malaysia, is a breathtaking build.

The Lego version of Masjid Jamek, among Kuala Lumpur’s oldest mosques, is a miniature marvel, accentuated by the delightful touch of a Hari Raya banner adorning it for the season.

Red bricks, you say? Well, behold Melaka’s Dutch-era buildings, including The Stadthuys, featured bright and bold in Miniland. And don’t miss the meticulously mapped downtown Johor Baru, offering a glimpse into the local area.

For a “yabba-dabba-doo” treat, try to spot the cute Lego tribute to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia’s Fred Flintstone mobile, while the trophy-laden JDT team bus parade is Lego gold for football fans in Johor.

While the real Sarawak State Legislative Assembly offers amazing night-time lights for your holiday photo album, the Legoland version, the largest model in Miniland Amazing Malaysia, is also a sight to behold.

A team of eight builders used an astounding 200,000 bricks to construct it.

Miniland, an attraction for all ages, now also features added canopies and shade structures, encouraging visitors to admire other highlights in Asia, like the intricate Angkor Wat and majestic Taj Mahal, at leisure.

Relax and enjoy the journey; brick travel has a way of transporting you to exotic destinations.

The cinematic adventure at Legoland also extends beyond mere viewing – it’s an immersive experience with 4D technology. Don’t miss the newest attraction: the Lego Friends 4D movie.

Settle into the cinema hall among excited children, and brace yourself for a “splash” of a 15-minute film that bursts from the screen, providing you with a full sensory experience.

With more than 40 interactive attractions, it’s wise to plan your Legoland adventure carefully.

What’s a theme park without a trek?

There is no denying the heat and weather conditions in Malaysia can significantly impact your visit to Legoland, especially if you’re accompanied by toddlers and young children (and grandparents too!).

However, the park is strategically designed with numerous shady areas and rest stops, and there are plenty of options to seamlessly switch between indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.

As you gear up for your walkabout, make sure to strap on your fitness watch to keep tabs on your steps, track your distance, and watch those calories melt away (even if you indulge in a burger, a large tub of fries, or two ice creams, no worries) as you wander through the themed areas (all eight of them).

At Legoland, with over 40 interactive attractions – rides and shows – for thrill-seekers, curious learners, and families seeking adventure-packed day trips or quick getaways, every moment counts.

If you encounter queues, remember to have an ample supply of water to stay hydrated before embarking on outdoor activities with the family.

At Lego City Driving School, budding drivers can navigate their way through realistic streets and traffic signals, honing their skills behind the wheel (while overly anxious parents call out to their kids from the curb to “stay in your lane!”). The Lego Mindstorms Workshop provides an interactive experience where enthusiasts can explore (basic) robotics and engineering through hands-on activities.

Adventure awaits at Lego Ninjago, where visitors can test their agility on the rock-climbing wall or embark on an exhilarating 4D ride and unleash their Spinjitzu skills to defeat The Great Devourer (even bewildered grandparents, dragged along by their grandkids, will be getting into this one).

When you’re wilting from the heat and overloaded from the rides, take a break in areas like “Build and Test” in Imagination, or Rebuild The World in Planet Legoland. The latter sparks creativity with building challenges, encouraging children to unleash their imagination by constructing everything from innovative modes of transportation to enchanting deep-sea creatures and musical instruments, showcasing the limitless possibilities of the Lego universe.

Like all great adventures, the fun must eventually come to an end, even if you’ve been enjoying yourself since the doors opened at 10am until they close at 6pm.

If you find yourself wanting more Legoland at the end of the day, swing by the main merchandise store (appropriately named The Big Store, complete with child-sized shopping trolleys) and snag a Legoland replica, or an in-store exclusive or three, to keep the adventure alive at home.

Legoland New York offers limited-time, reduced children's ticket price

Legoland New York Resort is open just on the weekends for now. But soon, starting Thursday, May 23, the Goshen theme park will be open all week, and in advance of that comes a limited-time offer.

Until June 30, a one-day child's admission ticket is just $29 with the purchase of a full-priced (from $54) adult ticket. Up to four children's tickets can be bought at that price per adult ticket.

Children must be between the ages of 2 and 12 years old. Tickets can be purchased at www.legoland.com/new-york/tickets-passes/tickets . They are valid only on the date selected and must be used by June 30.

Legoland New York: What you should know about the Goshen theme park

New to Legoland New York this year is The Minifigure Skyflyer, an aerial gondola-style ride enabling attendees to travel between the upper and lower levels of the 150-acre park. Scheduled to be operational this summer, the Skyflyer is an interactive ride. Minifigures will tell how they designed and built the ride, but they'll need help to make it fly.

Attendees will help "charge" the gondola's batteries, and then follow a rainbow road to the boarding platform's disco-themed floor. Families are then invited to show off their dance moves.

There are seven themes to the Skyflyer, from pirates to space to disco. Once aboard, the interaction continues where one can learn how to talk like a pirate or an alien language, or participate in a sing-along.

"There's a lot to enjoy at Legoland New York, but it's a big resort and our fans asked us for more ways to move easily from the upper and lower levels of the park," said Stephanie Johnson, divisional director of Legoland New York in a prepared statement . "We take our guests feedback seriously and the Minifigure Skyflyer gives them a way to do exactly that while igniting creativity, sparking imagination, and inspiring movement through disco and dance."
