2023-2024 Caribbean Cruises

Our new 2023-2024 Caribbean season is our most exciting yet, because our next Edge® Series ship, Celebrity Ascent, is debuting in the islands. There’s no better place for a ship designed to connect you more closely than ever to the sea and all the sun-soaked places on the horizon. But that’s just the start, because with Celebrity Ascent, we’ll have eight stunning ships covering the Caribbean—including three revolutionary Edge Series ships—from the colorful reefs of Belize to the white sands of St. Lucia. Choose from a wide variety of sailings ranging from 4 to 11 nights for just the right amount of island time, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa. Plus, we’ve added the new port of Scarborough, Tobago to our already impressive lineup of tropical destinations, and we’ve brought back a popular double-overnight stay in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. There are so many amazing Caribbean sailings this season, you might want to book more than one.

Itineraries

Returning port, scarborough, tobago.

Scarborough is steeped in history going back to the 1600s, and the British, Dutch, and French all left their mark here. That history comes to life at Fort King George, built in 1781, with its well-preserved prison, canons, and other intriguing relics. Nature lover? The Nylon Pool is your ideal escape. It’s a naturally formed swimming area in the middle of the sea created by an offshore sandbar. Nearby Buccoo Reef is a great place to snorkel. Not to be outdone, Pigeon Point Beach and the Main Ridge Forest Reserve offer even more natural beauty to enjoy.

Cheap Caribbean Cruises - Cruises to Caribbean

Featured caribbean cruise deals, cruising guide, why cruise to the caribbean.

Thousands of islands make up the Caribbean, a tropical region stretching across the Atlantic Ocean. Home to some of the most popular cruise ports in the world, the Caribbean offers variations on a theme: sun, white-sand beaches and fun with a local twist, depending on the port. From Dutch and French isles to U.S. territories, the destinations of the Caribbean have cultural experiences to spare that extend well beyond the tip of the umbrella in your fruity cocktail.

A cruise offers the chance to visit multiple islands within the span of a few days, providing visitors with a sampler of new places plus balmy sea breezes along the way. Caribbean cruises offer endless variety giving vacationers the chance to get away for a long weekend or two weeks. With so many departure ports, your ship to the Caribbean might be a short flight or even a drive away.

What are Popular Activities in the Caribbean?

The Caribbean offers as much -- or as little – as you want to do during your time ashore, making it an ideal cruise vacation for families or for couples.

Water sports are abundant in the Caribbean and anyone who likes spending time in the sea will enjoy snorkeling, diving, paddleboarding and swimming through clear, turquoise waters like the remote beaches of Bonaire. Or fly high through the sky on a number of active zipline courses, including the steepest zipline in the world in St. Maarten. Lazily lounging on the beach is almost always a fantastic option. Pair a beach day with a hike on a day trip from St. Thomas to Virgin Island National Park in St. John.

If you need a break from the sun, air-conditioned island tours, duty-free shopping trips and even scenic rail trips -- such as the one around St. Kitts -- provide wonderful ways to spend a day off the ship.

All-inclusive lovers will be able to pamper themselves with excursions to resorts, while those looking for a more local flavor will be able to learn from chefs, artisans and other experts for an authentic taste of each island's culture

When is a Good Time to Cruise to the Caribbean?

Winter and spring are great seasons to travel to the Caribbean due to a slight reduction in crowds and moderate temperatures, though the warm weather holds year-round here.

Atlantic hurricane season, from June through October, means a higher chance of rain and possible storms, though summer is still one of the most popular times to visit the Caribbean. If you book a summer sailing in a Caribbean region within the hurricane zone, there's a chance nothing will happen -- but buying insurance and keeping a flexible schedule helps manage expectations.

What are Popular Ports in the Caribbean?

Cozumel, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman and St. Martin/Maarten are some of the most common ports of call in the Caribbean. You could also experience Jamaica, Cuba, Aruba, Grand Turk or the Dominican Republic. Many Caribbean cruises also include stops at private islands, such as Royal Caribbean's CocoCay or Disney's Castaway Cay, located in The Bahamas.

Where do Caribbean cruises depart from?

Caribbean cruises depart from ports around the U.S., including San Juan, Puerto Rico. Many of the top Caribbean cruise departure ports are located in Florida: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando.

Elsewhere on the East Coast and Gulf Coast, Caribbean sailings depart from Baltimore, Manhattan, Galveston, New Orleans, Mobile and more. Caribbean islands and itinerary lengths will vary, depending on where you sail from and where you're sailing to.

What are Popular Regions of the Caribbean?

Choose from Eastern, Western or Southern Caribbean itineraries. You’ll primarily find the U.S. Virgin Islands -- St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John -- on Eastern Caribbean sailings, as well as St. Maarten/Martin and the Dominican Republic. The ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) are featured on Southern Caribbean cruises. Western Caribbean cruises often include ports in Mexico and Jamaica, along with Belize and Grand Turk.

Lengths also vary -- Western Caribbean itineraries can be limited to just a few days for those who want a quick getaway or don't have time for longer sailings. Southern Caribbean sailings tend to last at least 10 nights, and these often depart from San Juan. Eastern Caribbean sailings are typically a week long.

What are Tips to Find Cruise deals to the Caribbean?

Here are our best tips for finding a cheap cruise or cruise deal to the Caribbean. If you book a “guaranteed cabin” (they select for you), a cabin on a lower deck or sail on an older ship from a brand you like, then you can get the best price for a specific cruise to the Caribbean. Last minute cruises deals to the Caribbean appear as you get closer to the sail date, usually 1-2 weeks in advance. Taking a cruise to the Caribbean in the shoulder season (before or after the peak season) can also be a great way to find a cruise deal.

25 Caribbean Cruises for Your Next Tropical Vacation

caribbean island cruises 2023

The Caribbean islands are among the most popular cruise destinations in the world. Ships from ocean liners and yachts to small expedition vessels and sailboats carry cruisers who enjoy the time at sea as well as the islands' beauty, colorful marine life, and tropical weather.

Historic towns, ancient ruins, modern cities, secluded beaches, delicious food, and friendly locals offer something for everyone. The diverse languages and cultures add to the fascination with the Caribbean, and cruises that visit a series of destinations highlight the distinctions among the islands.

Caribbean cruises depart from many port cities, so for some travelers, a few days in a new place before or after the cruise adds to the experience. Cruises can be family-focused or adults-only, and many accommodate all ages with activities to keep everyone happy. Whether you're looking for a quick getaway or an extended vacation, a cruise can fit into your plans. Here are some of the best Caribbean cruises to inspire your island vacation.

The external view of the new Explora 1 ship from Explora Journeys.

If you're looking to book a brand-new cruise ship sailing island-centric itineraries in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and beyond, 2023 offers lots of options. There's a new cruise ship debuting almost every month from April to December as nine leading cruise lines add vessels to their fleets, an upscale newcomer debuts, and a familiar brand relaunches.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Southern Caribbean Cruises Insider

The great thing about a Southern Caribbean cruise is that you aren't limited by the seasons. Plan your adventure for the summer, fall, winter or spring, and experience the seasonal changes in the landscape. Although Aruba is best-known for its beaches, a 4x4 trek through along the rugged coastline is an island thrill ride. You can get off the beaten path in Curacao , too, and explore underground lakes and caves. Balance out the excitement by relaxing on a beach in St. Croix where the sand is soft and white. Or grab a glass of rum in Martinique and sip as the buoyant sound of steel drums sets the scene.

Check out the shopping options in port cities. Some cities have local shops where you can find homemade souvenirs, while others have duty-free shops where you can score a bargain.

If you want to bring rum back on the boat, learn the cruise policy before you buy. There's a limit to the amount of alcohol you can carry onto the boat from a port.

Spend your first at sea day planning your excursions. Book ahead so you have a better chance of doing your top activities.

WHERE CUISINES COLLIDE

Southern Caribbean cuisine reflects the region's diverse cultural influences, from hearty Latin American dishes based on plantains and rice to east Indian curries and island-inspired takes on British favorites. Look for locally owned spots serving humble, authentic dishes — this is where you'll find the region's most distinctive flavors.

St. Maarten Roadside BBQ Lobster

ISLAND FUSION BBQ

St. Maarten is known for its mix of Caribbean flavors. The French, east Indian and island influences are the perfect combination for a delicious roadside BBQ stop. Visit a lolo — the local term for a barbecue joint — and enjoy freshly grilled lobster. Wash it all down with some guavaberry liqueur.

Traditional Aruba Gumbo Dish

THE MELTING POT

Aruba is a melting pot when it comes to cuisine. Enjoy a mix of Argentinian meat dishes, Dutch cheeses or gumbo with pan bati, which is a pancake made from wheat and corn flour. The fusion of flavors and cultures has created a food mecca in the Caribbean.

Rum Cocktail Offered in Caribbean Rum Distilleries

Drink With Captain Morgan

Grab a glass of rum to sip your way through the distilleries in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands . Home to both Captain Morgan and Cruzan Rum distilleries, you can spend the day learning about the famed Caribbean beverage while tasting it right from the source. Rum tasting is one of the best things to do when you visit a Southern Caribbean island.

Nearly 30 different itineraries range up to 14 days and span the Caribbean region

Seattle, Washington, April 2, 2024 — Travelers looking to explore the sun-drenched shores of the Caribbean will have nearly 30 different Holland America Line itineraries to choose from between October 2025 and April 2026. New to the season is the addition of Miami, Florida, as a homeport, as well as the return of Koningsdam, putting all three Pinnacle-Class ships in the Caribbean.

Through the expansive variety of itineraries, cruisers can explore the eastern , western and southern regions of the Caribbean, as well as a partial Panama Canal transit. In addition to weeklong getaways, Holland America Line offers longer Caribbean cruises from nine to 14 days, featuring more islands on one itinerary. Select November sailings and special December cruises make it fun and easy to celebrate Thanksgiving and the winter holidays in the tropics.

“ This will be the first time all three of our Pinnacle-Class ships are in the Caribbean together, allowing for even more opportunities for guests to experience all we have to offer,” said Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer for Holland America Line. “With demand for Caribbean cruises remaining strong, we’ve planned a robust season allowing guests to choose the islands they want to visit and the ideal length for their vacation.”

St Vincent and the Grenadines

St. Vincent & The Grenadines (comprising 32 remote islands and cays) is the best location for a quiet stay in the Caribbean away from the modern luxuries (without TV, phone, or Wi-Fi) in full serenity and natural beauty. With thatched roof cottages, a gentle vibe, and a revitalizing atmosphere, it is ideal for honeymooners and romantic couples. Plus, its stunning volcanic scenery and pirate-lair harbors enhance the travel experience. Visitors can stay in any of the cottages or stay on adjacent Bequia and take the local ferry across for a day trip.

  • How to reach: Fly into St. Vincent's Argyle International Airport (SVD). Alternatively, St. Vincent and the Grenadines are also accessible by water. Several cruise lines call at the islands, and individual yachts or sailboats can dock at marinas and ports on the islands of the Grenadines.

French Antilles

The French Antilles, a group of calm islands with a dash of Caribbean flair and activities, are incredibly charming . While St. Barts is famed for its elegance and sophistication, as well as its nicer beaches, Guadeloupe is a tropical paradise with its own volcano, sports, and Creole culture. Martinique, on the other hand, offers some of the best hiking trails in the Caribbean. For visitors looking for delectable culinary experiences, St. Martin's Grand Case Boulevard boasts some of the best French and Creole food in the Caribbean, as well as prominent French chefs.

  • How to reach: To reach French Antilles in the Caribbean, travelers can fly to major airports in Martinique or Guadeloupe, with direct international flights or connecting through nearby Caribbean hubs.

Another Caribbean island that is quieter than usual is Dominica. This mountainous Caribbean island is considered the northernmost of the Windward Islands, giving it a more "remote" feel. Here, people can explore various natural attractions, including Trois Pitons National Park, Trafalgar Falls, and the narrow Titou Gorge. The capital, Roseau, is filled with stunning architecture and botanic gardens, making it a must-see portion of the island.

What makes Dominica special is its quiet, low-key charm. Although the Caribbean is often considered bustling with vacationers from near and far, Dominica is one of the quieter, more relaxing options. According to the country's website , Dominica is often called the Caribbeans' best-kept secret, so it's certainly worth taking a vacation to.

  • How to reach: You can get to Dominica either by plane or sea ferry. The island has two airports, Melville Hall Airport in the north and Canefield Airport in the South.

Saint Kitts

As one of the first Caribbean islands colonized by the Europeans, Saint Kitts has a blend of culture, history, and laid-back charm. Here, people can stay in some of the area's finest hotels, as well as local rentals. Saint Kitts is a dual island connected to Nevis, which makes it one of the more interesting choices on this list. It's known for its pristine beaches, mountains, and natural wonders. On top of that, Saint Kitts is the larger island of the two, filled with nature trails, opportunities for adventure, and peacefulness throughout most seasons. Because Saint Kitts isn't quite as popular as the other large Caribbean islands, it should be on travelers' radar if they prefer something chill.

  • How to reach: Fly to Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, with connections from various international hubs, or access the island via cruise ship.

The next laid-back Caribbean island is Montserrat. Here, guests can experience a quiet, mountainous Caribbean island considered a British overseas territory. In addition, Montserrat features a somewhat infamous volcano, Soufrière Hills, which erupted in the 1990s and destroyed the south of the island. Of course, the island was able to rejuvenate the aftermath, but it remains a sore subject to locals and officials alike. With mountains galore, Montserrat feels much more rugged and adventurous than some of the others on this list, so for people wanting that, it's a great choice.

Furthermore, the north side of the island remains more popular, filled with coral reefs, beaches, cliffs, and shoreline caves. The nature here is absolutely stunning, with many visitors describing it as paradise.

  • How to reach: Montserrat is accessible by air, with flights from Antigua or St. Kitts. Ferries also run from Antigua. Check schedules and availability before traveling.

The official language of Montserrat is English, so that will make things easier for tourists coming from English-speaking countries. Of course, it's always nice to try and adapt to other languages that may be spoken, but overall, it should be English.

Puerto Rico

Another laid-back Caribbean island to consider is Puerto Rico. Although this country is a bit more known, that doesn't mean it's packed or a party destination. Of these islands, Puerto Rico has one of the strongest identities, being a mix of cultures and landscapes and easily accessible to American travelers. Here, visitors from the United States do not need a passport, which makes coming here super easy. With that said, the capital, San Juan, is more popular, filled to the brim with music, hotels, restaurants, and traffic.

So, heading to a smaller town along the coastline might be better for people wanting something peaceful. Puerto Rico offers some of the most charming towns and people in the world, so it's a highly recommended destination in the Caribbean islands.

  • How to reach: To reach Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, fly into Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan from major U.S. cities or other Caribbean destinations.

Guana Island – British Virgin Islands

Guana is one of the 16 inhabited islands of the around 40 islands that make up the British Virgin Islands. It is an 850-acre covering island that has miles and miles of white sands with not a soul in sight; only 36 guests are allowed at a time.

With seven beaches, undulating mountains, verdant gardens, organic orchards, many hiking trails, and flamingos running amok, it’s the best place to be. The island, with its endemic wildlife, is popular among nature lovers.

  • How to reach: Fly into British Virgin Islands’ Beef Island Airport through Antigua or San Juan, St. Thomas.

Note: There are only 18 rooms and villas on this private island, so it is as exclusive as it gets, and it feels like a private domain

Related: Spring In The Caribbean: 10 Best Islands To Visit In May

This tiny island covering 36 square miles packs a big punch. It has plenty of tranquil spots to relax and leave all the stresses behind. The island is a beautiful combination of gorgeous beaches and lush rainforests. Nevis may be a tranquil spot, but it packs wellness, adventure, and sumptuous cuisine in one lucrative package. Nevis doesn't have many hotels apart from the standout Four Seasons Resort. However, one can always try some of the best boutique plantation resorts, such as the Golden Rock Inn. There is also an ancient sugar mill turned guest house, which promises amenities wrapped in luxury.

  • How to reach: Fly from the USA to St. Kitts and take a ferry or water taxi to reach the island.

Note: Relaxing or taking it easy on Nevis is called liming.

Despite St. Lucia’s 20-year-old tourist history, it still features among the 9 less crowded Caribbean Islands that you should visit . It is a blessing in disguise for tourists looking for a serene holiday. Book a luxurious room at the Landings Resort and Spa, which has around 70 rooms; enjoy the lavish perks of the resort.

A mud bath at the Sulphur Springs and scaling heights to the Tet Paul Nature Reserve are just a few of the vacationer’s favorite things. Tourists can also enjoy a day on the terrace, watching the sun go down and painting the sky beautiful shades of orange and pink. There is a private beach with access to numerous water sports.

  • How to reach: Reach St. Lucia via direct flights (American Airlines) from Miami (MIA) and New York (JFK).

Note: Try the popular local dish, Gros Islet Fish Fry, on Friday nights.

Salt Cay is a remote location, so you cannot expect modern facilities. However, people from around the world visit here to get what they don't get in their bustling cities. It's a rare feat to watch whales swimming around or enjoy the calming activity of snorkeling in the blue seas. There's a restaurant and bar on the island, Coral Reef Bar & Grill, which offers you a drink and a bite while watching the quiet waters lapping the shore. There is something quaint and tranquil about the island, from the colonial buildings in Balfour Town to the South District Beach, the vantage point to watch the sunset.

  • How to get there : Though the airstrip is tiny, Salt Cay has one, and you can reach there via Air Turks & Caicos and fly there from Providenciales.

Note: The best way to move around the island is via bicycle, which is an excellent commuting vehicle

The Little Cayman Islands

To all those tourists who want to get far away from the "madding crowd," you should try the unique Cayman Islands all-inclusive resorts for a relaxing beach vacation. The island is a favorite among divers and beach enthusiasts and is known to the diving community as the “Mecca of the Caribbean.” Most vacationers head to Bloody Bay Marine Park to explore the popular diving gems.

Set out to explore the Point of Sand for a swim or take a boat to explore the deserted Owen Island to enjoy nature in all its glory. You can also rent a scooter to explore the pretty nook and corner of the island and stop for refreshments at the East End. Put on your explorer’s hat to find out more about Cayman’s spectacular crystal caves.

  • How to reach: Fly from Grand Cayman via a charter flight to Little Cayman. There are direct flights from Miami to Cayman Brac and a connecting one to Little Cayman.

Note: Bring an underwater camera to capture incredible underwater scenes, especially stingrays and exotic tropical fish in all their glory

Renaissance Island In Aruba

Renaissance Island Aruba is a popular go-to destination for avid travelers. It is a tiny man-made paradise with two beaches, accessible only to in-house guests at the Renaissance Aruba Beach Resort & Casino.

Take a boat from the island’s capital to reach the destination; however, one must show them the hotel's key for a free ride. This palm-fringed island boasts a private beach bar to comfortable hammocks for all-day lazing. And one may have some cute, not-so-little pink flamingos to greet on the island. Feed these friendly creatures and spend time with them on Flamingo Beach.

  • How to reach : Reach the island via a water taxi ride from Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba . Take a direct flight from Miami to Aruba.

Note: Renaissance Island has an adult-only beach featuring a seating area, lounge chairs, water hammocks, and food and beverages.

Culebra is another underrated low-key Caribbean island located 17 miles east of the Puerto Rican mainland. With a sparse population, vacationers will enjoy beautiful turquoise lagoons, white powdery beaches, and lush mangrove forests without fighting the crowds.

Bird watchers love to frequent the island as it has the oldest bird sanctuaries in the United States. The spring or the early summer season is the perfect time to visit the island to watch sea turtles making their way to the island to lay eggs.

  • How to reach : Take a 30-minute flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Culebra. It takes five and a half hours from the USA to San Juan.

Note: Flamenco Beach is the best and the most picturesque beach in Culebra and all the Caribbean.

Bluefields, Jamaica

Tourists who like to ditch crowded beach destinations would love Bluefields in Jamaica, as it hasn't caught the attention of the average tourist. They can still enjoy the many island activities that most go-to beach destinations promise, from deep-sea fishing to glass-bottom cruises. It is also one of the most stunning Caribbean beaches to visit this winter.

For more fun activities, visit the Bluefields Organic Fruit Farm to get a sneak peek at Jamaican history and learn about organic farming. Also, have a look at a monument near Belmont Falls that pays tribute to Peter Tosh, a reggae musician.

  • How to reach : Bluefields is an hour from Montego Bay Airport. Take a bus from Montego Bay Airport to Savanna-la-Mar and a taxi from Savanna-la-Mar to Bluefields Beach.

Note: For a lively evening with food and good music, visit Rick’s Café, an hour away from Bluefields.

Although The island of Bonaire is one of the less popular island trios among Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao; however, it has scores of island activities that can make it a vacationer’s paradise. With coral reefs and sea caves, revelers will have plenty of things to occupy themselves with on the picturesque island and plunge into shore diving with Bonaire's ten best scuba sites .

Besides visiting Washington-Slagbaai National Park, visitors love to scale the tallest peak at Mt. Brandis. 16 Best Low Key Caribbean Islands For A Peaceful Vacation

Margaritaville's cruise company just unveiled a $900 pass for nearly unlimited cruises through the end of the year

  • Margaritaville at Sea announced a $900 cruise pass that allows travelers to sail on the majority of its 2023 cruises.
  • Margaritaville launched its cruise brand in 2022 with its Margaritaville at Sea Paradise vessel.
  • The 30-year-old ship is now operating nonstop two-night itineraries from Florida.

Insider Today

For $900, you could spend most of 2023 nibbling on sponge cake and watching the sun bake aboard a floating Margaritaville resort .

The cruise line is currently operating nonstop two-night sailings from Florida's Port of Palm Beach to the Bahama's Freeport, Grand Bahama island. These set itineraries range from about $170 to over $500 (not including current deals). But if there's nowhere you'd rather be than on a Margaritaville cruise ship, you could potentially save hundreds of dollars with its newly announced cruise pass.

Margaritaville at Sea has taken a page out of Disneyland's playbook with what it says is the industry's "first season pass," the Ultimate Paradise Pass . For $899, travelers with this pass can go on an unlimited number of non-consecutive Margaritaville cruises from April through the end of 2023. A second traveler can then stay in the same stateroom — limited to ocean view or interiors — for free. If you want to travel alone, you'll have to pay an additional $160.

Related stories

But like Disneyland's annual passes, there are some limitations. There are five blackout dates in July, September, November, and December. Cruises must also be booked 24 to 72 hours in advance. And the pass doesn't cover additional payments like the $94 in taxes, fees, and expenses, the $20 booking fee, or gratuities.

So far, 2023 is shaping up to be a successful year for the cruise line. Bookings are "off to a record start ... with the company's best wave season on record," Kevin Sheehan, Jr., Margaritaville at Sea's president and CEO, told Insider in an email. He says the cruise line is also seeing "strong trends" for pre-bookings through this year.

The 658-cabin vessel is a big draw for fans of the brand and Jimmy Buffett. The floating Margaritaville resort is filled with typical cruise amenities — like a pool deck, casino, and nighttime entertainment — all named after Jimmy Buffett's discography. From the Port of Indecision buffet to the al fresco 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar and Grill, it's hard to escape the Margaritaville brand aboard the Paradise.

The nascent cruise line — one of Margaritaville Holdings' latest ventures — was launched in 2022. But don't expect a vessel as new as the brand. Before its refresh, the ship was known as the Grand Classica, a 30-year-old flagship vessel owned by budget cruise company Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. The company has since rebranded to Margaritaville at Sea while the ship has undergone what Margaritaville has called a "multi-million investment and refurbishment."

Besides this cruise venture, the Jimmy Buffett-branded company's diverse hospitality portfolio also includes restaurants, resorts, senior living communities, and RV parks . In 2021, John Cohlan, the company's CEO, called Margaritaville the " fastest-growing hotel brand in the country ."

SUNREEF 88 DOUBLE DECK: A catamaran designed for ultimate comfort!

680 m² of canvas downwind, 460 m² upwind, the Sunreef 88 DD is a real sailboat making 7 knots in just 10 knots of wind

The 88 DD is an imposing catamaran with an air draft of over 40 meters... Welcome to the outsized world of superyachts!

The sheer of the deck makes it possible to house a jet-ski on the sidedeck while maintaining good headroom in the cabins...

On the flybridge, behind the helm station, you find all the indispensable features for relaxation: sunbathing, barbecue, bar and a magnificent 35m² of space

The helm station located on the flybridge allows for handling everything on the entire cat while offering an ideal view of the water.

The aft cockpit encircled by loungers is very large. The skipper's cabin is hidden under the bench seat of the big table. Beneath the stairway, there is access to the day toilets without having to go through the interior of the boat

The Sunreef 88 DD hasn’t forgotten any of the rules of super-yachting. Attention to detail and refinement is everywhere on board, making life enjoyable

The cockpit interior offers a good view forward across the water. From here, you can handle the boat while staying warm during night watches.

The owner's cabin occupies the entire forward part of the coachroof and offers a 180° panoramic view. It has a large bench seat / bunk bed for when the children want to join their parents, and the bathroom is located in the hull. Superb!

The galley is professionally equipped and offers really impressive storage space. A wine cellar and large freezers find their place in the cargo hold under the floor

The guest cabins are just as beautiful

With their new 88  footer from the Double Deck range, Sunreef are unveiling an ultra-comfortable cruising catamaran built for an experienced boating family, and are confirming their ability to complete fully customized projects on the same timescale as production boats.

It took no more than 9 months for the Sunreef 88 DD, first announced at the 2016 Cannes boat show, to see its hulls hit the water in Gdansk, Poland.  Yet this is not just a well-honed semi-custom boat, but a brand new model in the range which is already known to connoisseurs and necessarily demanding owners. Having owned many of the best in English and Italian motor yachts, this family got into sailing with a beautiful 25 meter ketch.  The natural instability of a heeling monohull prompted them to ask Ian Sellers, their skipper, to think of another solution.  The choice of a sailing catamaran was a logical one: the space, stability, low draft, panoramic view and the economical running are irrefutable arguments for those who want XXL-sized comfort.

A good average speed to cross the Atlantic or to reach new anchorages in the Caribbean islands after a beautiful summer season in the Mediterranean also guided their choice.  It simply remained to find a shipyard capable of satisfying the wishes of the owner.  With a budget of more than 4 million euros, this owner was looking for a boat that was not just ultra-equipped and of the highest quality, but a unit that was entirely made ...

DISCOVER THE MODEL

Description.

The start of the ambitious Sunreef 88 Double Deck project was officially communicated during Sunreef Yachts’ press conference at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016. After eight months of intensive work, the shipyard proudly announced the launch of this catamaran with a zealous, sporty look.

An experienced yachtsman switching from a massive motor yacht , the owner decided to commission the Sunreef 88 Double Deck to pursue a more stable navigation style with greater living space. Indeed, a challenging project for the shipyard’s engineering and design teams.

Nonetheless, this journey was destined to keep the promise of delivering a state-of-the art fully customized sailing catamaran from the start. To achieve the goal of building a seaworthy and dynamic catamaran, Sunreef Yachts’ team of naval architects conceived a completely new yacht design which seemed far sportier than the rest.

Same as all yachts within her range, the Sunreef 88 Double Deck too features a mezzanine level inside the saloon and a spacious master stateroom with a panoramic view in the bow part of the main deck. However, her superstructure was granted a more aerodynamic aspect. As a result, the 88-footer emphasis equally on both performance and luxury, offering over 300m² of living space and an outstanding sailing experience.

Despite this, the Sunreef 88 Double Deck remains a family-friendly yacht offering the best of comfort and safety. The innovative composite superstructure of the sailing yacht conceals a smart and functional layout with luxurious accommodations for eight guests and up to five crew members.

Upon the owners’ request, the interior decor of the Sunreef 88 Double Deck features exclusive natural materials: Chambord oak, linen, leather, natural stone, and quartz tiles – all contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the sailing yacht . The feeling of warmth was also achieved through applying numerous orange accents to the interiors – an important color for the owner’s family who consider it to be a symbol of energy.

New Sunreef 92 Double Deck Sailing Catamaran

catamaran boat double decker

From the same people who brought you the original Sunreef Yacht, comes the new Sunreef 92 Double Deck , with a new design which not only streamlines the deck house, but tops it with a giant 40 m 2 fly bridge.

This was inspired by similar designs found on other super yacht designs. In collaboration with K-Epsilon and Rivoyre Ingenierie , The Sunreef Naval Architecture Bureau has intensely studied performance and sea capabilities using state of the art CFD, computational flow dynamics to create the ultimate in catamaran luxury.

Using integrated stepped hull chins, the Sunreef 92 Double Deck catamaran increases interior space, without compromising performance. Now this yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests, in up to 5 double luxury suites, as well as a crew of four.

Sunreef’s 92 Double Deck also features a canoe style boom and carbon mast, one of this manufacturer’s specialties. How are they able to accomplish such feats? They added a new mezzanine floor, which includes a coffee table and lounge, located on the port side of the main deck dining area, freeing up more space below for larger cabins and storage space, or even more suites if you prefer.

Because of this innovative design modification, now the owner’s suite occupies two floors of the entire front area of this yacht, with a private luxury office, gym and leisure area on the upper level, with the bathroom, wardrobe and storage area below deck. Each cabin has an extended size, three way access to their King sized beds, with spectacular panoramic sea views. Not only this, but each luxury suite comes with its own separate bath and shower area, large closets, storage lockers, as well as their own air conditioning and a comprehensive entertainment system.

With a LOA of 27 meters, an 11.2m beam, and a 1.6m draft, this super yacht has a 80 ton displacement. It will also be powered by two 405HP 1200 L/3170 Gal engines, and will be able to cruise at speeds up to 15 knots. The 70m 2 cockpit will also include a large dining area, sunbathing mattresses, and diving equipment. Its spacious fly bridge is fitted with a jacuzzi, two wet bars, barbecue, ice makers and even a pair of jet skis. It will also include a tender, hidden in a specially built locker under the main sun pad of the cockpit.

Even though this is only the second of such models, it isn’t hard to see why the Sunreef 92 Double Deck sailing catamaran is on it’s way to be one of the most sought after luxury yachts. With it’s innovative design, state of the art electronics, and focus on luxury, the Sunreef 92 Double Deck is top of the line, and a must for people who may still think they have it all. Don’t miss out on your own little piece of paradise.

A seafaring adventure on island routes double-decker catamaran cruise.

A seafaring adventure on Island Routes double-decker catamaran cruise

Embark on a luxury catamaran cruise adventure out of Ocho Rios, Jamaica that takes adventure to new heights.

Standing on the dock, I pause a moment to let my gaze travel slowly upwards at the gleaming catamaran floating before me. Rocking gently in the calm Caribbean Sea, the beautiful double-decker  Calipsoul  seems familiar yet exciting and new to me all at the same time. I had chosen Island Routes Catamaran Dunn’s River Cruise the last time I was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It had been the perfect combination of relaxation and excitement that I had been looking for. We had also done the romantic Lovers Rock evening cruise, literally sailing into the sunset together. Making the cruise reservation Both times it had turned out exactly as promised and this time around when I knew I was heading back to Jamaica, I reached out to the wonderfully helpful Island Routes team yet again. I spoke with them about how much I had enjoyed the last catamaran excursion I did with them and shared that this time I would be coming with a group of friends and family of all ages. I had enjoyed the snorkeling aspect of the Dunn’s River cruise so much but it had been fairly short and some of my group said they really wanted to let loose and relax.

Island Routes Reggae Family catamaran cruise They suggested the Island Routes Reggae Family catamaran cruise. They explained that it was like The Dunn’s River cruise minus the climbing, which my mom was happy to hear about, and a lot of time spent exploring the underwater world. Then they told me how great my timing was as they now have a brand new double-decker catamaran! To be honest, I couldn’t quite picture it so I didn’t know what to expect. Standing here, about to step onto the Calipsoul , I am filled with delight as the kids all leap aboard. We aren’t the only family on board that day and as my group is fairly large, coming over on the shuttle service from the Beaches all-inclusive family resort, I had been worried about feeling crowded. Yet, what we discover is the perfect blend of being able to find ample areas for ourselves while also having the opportunity to meet other people as equally excited as we are.

Snorkeling lesson Once in the water, we are directed by the crew, who have joined us, where to swim and, along the way, they make sure to point out coral formations and beautiful fish ensuring we have an amazingly immersive experience (pun intended). I explore for ages and I am very excited as I brought my waterproof camera with me this time and aim to meet my self-imposed challenge of taking an underwater selfie with tropical fish. Although unsuccessful because they move pretty quickly, I still have a blast. Suddenly, someone is tapping me on my shoulder and I pop my head up to see one of the crew members guiding me back to the boat. Making my way back I realize that, as strong a swimmer as I am, I’m pretty happy to have the life vest on as it allows me to keep looking underwater while I make my way back without having to put in too much effort in keeping myself headed in the right direction so all my focus is on the magical world below me. Trampoline for the kids, hammocks for the adults We climb aboard and the teenagers head to the trampoline area (I was told that’s what it’s called). For people who may not normally hang out on a boat, this area serves an engineering purpose but is also a pretty cool place to just hang out on as it’s like a flat stretched-out hammock where you can just lay out and chill. I divest myself of the fins, mask, and vest and realize I’m pretty hungry! Lunch on the ocean Luckily, the food comes out and everyone piles up their plates with tropical fruit, delicious wraps and chips, and salsa, and we head for a sunny spot on the upper deck of the catamaran. We start chatting with other people and decide it’s just about the right time for the rum version of that delicious fruit punch (after all we’re in Jamaica, how can we pass up the delicious rum when no one is driving or diving). My husband opts for a cold Red Stripe instead and leans back to work on his tan. Learning Jamaican dance moves We hear music and a lot of laughter below and realize the trampoline is empty. I decide to leave my husband happily tanning and I follow the music only to discover a full-blown dance class, as the crew is teaching everyone the latest Jamaican dancehall dance moves. Although I feel a little self-conscious when I join in, that quickly fades away as everyone tries their best to match the expertise of the crew. Over on the right, two little girls have their own crew member showing them what to do and they catch on quickly, delighted grins lighting up their faces. I manage to muddle through and I’m pretty sure my sister is going to show these videos to everyone once we get back home for an evening full of a similar level of laughter at my expense. In that moment though, I don’t care. I feel the salt from the sea drying on my skin, my hair is a tousled mess and I’m dancing with my children in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. This, I think, is what happiness is.

First Sunreef 88 double deck catamaran launched

The first hull in the Sunreef 88 range of double deck sailing catamarans has been launched in Gdansk for a European owner, the Polish yard has announced.

This fully personalised multihull superyacht measures 26.82 metres LOA and was styled inside and out by the in-house team at  Sunreef Yachts .

In a statement, the Polish yard added that the design of the Sunreef 88 is “a great display of the shipyard’s non-conformist attitude and a genuine example of an avant-garde sailing catamaran concept”.

Captain Ian Sellers added: "She is a beautifully crafted, fully customised transoceanic catamaran, with superb quality and finish."

The design brief was focussed on three key themes: luxury, performance and privacy. To this end, the Sunreef 88 features more than 300 square metres of living space — an impressive figure for a yacht of this size, proving that bigger isn't always better .

This two-deck sailing yacht will feature an extensive flybridge with a central helm station and plenty of al fresco dining and relaxation spaces. Back aft, the cockpit features a central dining table with seating space for ten guests as well as a second sunbed, making good use of the Sunreef 88's 11.2 metre beam.

The in-house design includes sporty and dynamic exterior lines, as well as a fully customised interior layout. Key features include a mezzanine level in the saloon and a main-deck owner's cabin , which boasts superb views out to sea through panoramic windows.

Auxiliary power comes from a pair of 425hp engines drawing on a total fuel capacity of 8,000 litres, while her total sailplan is in excess of 345 square metres.

Sunreef added that the designers drew inspiration for this single-masted sailing yacht from the 35 metre flagship yacht Che , which was launched in 2010. The Sunreef 88 is the sixth superyacht from the Polish yard, which has also created the Sunreef 102 yacht Ipharra .

Savor Bonaire's breathtaking seascapes from the Sea Breeze double-decker power catamaran .

You'll stop at the famous pink salt flats and white mountains of salt. Your guide will explain the salt production process.

Offshore from the historical white slave huts, learn some Caribbean facts and discover why these centuries-old huts are built next to the sea.

The catamaran approaches the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire by way of the famous Bonaire Marine Park . Its protected reef makes it a divers' paradise. From up close, you will see Bonaire's most attractive white-sand beach. Its name, of course, is No-Name Beach.

Follow the coastline for exceptional panoramic views, and don't forget to look down into the crystal-clear turquoise water. Oceanfront hotels and restaurants and beautiful Dutch Caribbean mansions line the way back to the port.

Maximum age is 70 years. Maximum height is 6'6". Maximum weight is 330 lbs. Guests who are more than five months pregnant or have a heart condition, asthma, or leg or chest injuries and/or recent surgery are not allowed to participate. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations.

Some of the best decking materials include:

  • Wood: Cedar, redwood, and tropical hardwoods offer a classic look but require regular maintenance.
  • Pressure-Treated Lumber: Affordable pine that resists rot and insects but may need staining.
  • Composite Decking: Low-maintenance blend of wood fibers and recycled plastic, available in various colors.
  • PVC Decking: Synthetic option resistant to stains, scratches, and fading, but can be pricey.
  • Aluminum Decking: Lightweight, durable, rust-resistant, suitable for water areas, but more expensive.
  • Vinyl Decking: Low-maintenance, moisture, and rot-resistant, but quality varies.

It’s better to build a patio when:

  • Privacy is a priority: Patio provides a sense of privacy, especially when enclosed.
  • Budget and low maintenance are the priority: Patios are generally more cost-effective to build and require less maintenance.
  • The ground is flat: For even ground, constructing a patio is easier and more straightforward.

It’s better to build a deck when:

  • Scenic views are desired: Decks offer better views.
  • You are fine with obtaining building permits and inspections: Decks typically require permits and inspections due to their structural impact on the home.
  • The ground is uneven: If your backyard has slopes or uneven terrain, a deck can provide a stable and level outdoor space.

2 crew members die on Holland America ship; fire breaks out on Carnival cruise

MIAMI — Two crew members died on board a Holland America cruise ship, and a fire broke out on a Carnival ship while both of the ships were in the Bahamas this weekend, officials said.

The two crew on the Florida-based Nieuw Amsterdam died Friday during an "accidental steam release" while it was calling at the private resort island Half Moon Cay, Holland America said in a statement on Sunday.

"There was an accidental steam release in an engineering space on board Nieuw Amsterdam, which sadly resulted in the death of two crew members," the cruise line said.

The Bahamas Maritime Authority and the Dutch Safety Board were investigating the exact cause of the release, Holland America said.

A representative of the Bahama’s Coroner’s Court did not immediately respond to a request for information, such as the crew members’ identities and the cause and manner of death.

The cruise line said the conclusions of any investigation would be taken seriously. "Safety is always our top priority, and we are working to understand what, if anything, can be learned from this tragic accident," it said.

Passenger Laine Doss said she was on board when the captain announced the deaths on the vessel's P.A. system.

"We were celebrating the last day of the cruise," she said, when the mood changed "to something extremely somber."

The captain's voice broke, she said.

"He broke down crying," Doss said. "There was a moment of silence that the captain requested. And that entire scenario did affect the entire cruise. Things were canceled, joyous events were canceled, and we really just thought about mortality — the people who perished on the ship."

Crew members were being offered counseling, Holland America said.

Dutch government inspectors determined the vessel to be "fully operable," and this was "confirmed" by the U.S. Coast Guard, the cruise line said.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said she was looking into the statement and was unable to immediately confirm it.

The Nieuw Amsterdam returned Saturday to its home port of Fort Lauderdale, guests disembarked, and the vessel has embarked on a cruise with a stop in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on Monday, Holland America said.

"All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this event," the cruise line said. "We’ve been in contact with the families of both team members and are offering our support to them and to all of our crew at this difficult time."

The ship set sail out of Fort Lauderdale on March 16 for a seven-night trip.

Fire on the port-side exhaust funnel of another Florida-based cruise ship in the Bahamas, the Carnival Freedom, rocked some passengers Saturday and took the ship out of commission for repairs, the cruise line said.

No injuries were reported.

In a statement Sunday, Carnival Cruises acknowledged witness reports of a lightning strike or the sound of thunder before the fire erupted.

Passenger Heath Barnes said the ship was on a detoured path, destined for an unscheduled stop in Freeport, as a result of stormy weather and high winds when fire started.

"I was shocked," he said. "I mean, I looked out there and you're not supposed to see black smoke and fire shooting out of the tail end of the cruise."

The blaze was preceded by "the loudest thunder-lightning clap that I've ever heard in my life," Barnes said.

Ship personnel extinguished the fire, Carnival Cruises said.

The cruise line said a technical team determined the ship sustained enough damage that it will need repairs before it can be returned to scheduled cruises. The funnel was stabilized, passengers were expected to be returned to Port Canaveral, and the ship will set off to Freeport for repairs, it said.

"The damage is more than we first thought and will require an immediate repair to stabilize the funnel, resulting in the cancellation of the March 25 and March 29 cruises from Port Canaveral," Carnival Cruises said.

Passengers scheduled for those late-March cruises are being offered full refunds and credit that can be used for a future cruise, it said.

It was the second funnel fire on the Carnival Freedom since 2022.

Couple tells of how cruise ship caught fire after lightning strike in Caribbean

Florence & Joe Torchia tell FOX Weather about the harrowing experience they had on a cruise ship that was hit by lightning and then caught fire while at sea in the Caribbean.

OCALA, Fla. –  A couple, who were vacationing on a Carnival Cruise ship in the Caribbean last week when a lightning bolt reportedly struck the ship, described how it turned their relaxing afternoon into a harrowing experience.

The Carnival Freedom was about 20 miles off Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas on March 23, sailing to Freeport after being unable to dock at Princess Cay earlier that morning due to strong winds.

Then thunderstorms rolled over the ship during the afternoon. Florence and Joe Torchia were in their cabin at the back of the ship when the storm struck.

"I saw the lightning," Florence Torchia told FOX Weather.

LIGHTNING FATALITIES WERE SECOND LOWEST ON RECORD IN 2023, SAFETY COUNCIL SAYS

Moments later, the crew reported a fire on the port side of the ship's exhaust funnel.

"We saw it on the TV because they had a (camera) set up," Joe Torchia said. "And then we said, 'Oh my God, this doesn't look good.' And then they were trying to put it out and the hoses just didn't reach the funnel."

The captain then announced to the passengers that there was a fire on the ship.

"And so we tried to go down to the muster station," Joe Torchia said. "And it was kids crying, looking for their parents. And it was scary."

Florence said they couldn't see the fire from their cabin due to the angles of the ship.

"But then the (exhaust) stack fell down onto the 10th deck, and then the plume of smoke came down, and we had it in our cabin and everything," she said. "So (it) was a little scary for a bit, but the staff… notified us of everything."

LIGHTNING SAFETY: WHEN THUNDER ROARS, EVEN TAKING OUT THE TRASH CAN TURN DEADLY

"Communications were pretty good. And the captain did a good job," Joe added.

A Carnival Cruise spokesperson said their onboard team acted quickly to contain and put out the fire.

"While we continue to investigate multiple eyewitness reports of a lightning strike, our technical team completed a thorough assessment during the ship’s visit to Freeport on Sunday," the spokesperson said.

The Freedom eventually had to return to Port Canaveral , Florida , on that Monday, where guests disembarked.

The cruise line said damage to the ship is "more than we first thought" and will require immediate repair to stabilize the funnel. Cruises scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral on March 25 and March 29 were canceled. All guests on the canceled trips will receive a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit.

"We greatly appreciate our terrific guests for their outstanding cooperation and support," Carnival said.

DEBUNKING 7 MYTHS ABOUT LIGHTNING

Joe Torchia said it was the couple's third cruise, "but it might be our last."

"I'd rather go to the Caribbean to a single destination," Florence Torchia added.

FOX Business reported that the same cruise ship caught on fire in 2022 after being struck by lightning.
