Rather than parking at the port we recommend you stay at a local hotel and take a stress-free transfer to the port. Many hotels offer cheap deals . This way you can relax before and after your cruise as well as enjoying the historic attractions and beaches of Galveston.

Galveston covers a compact area and a shuttle or taxi cab fare to the port should never cost more than $10 – $15 dollars per person.

Several hotels, however, offer their own shuttle service to the port . Very often, this is complimentary especially if you choose to park at the hotel. Other times it should cost no more than a few dollars.

1. Harbor House Hotel and Marina (Pier 21) ★★★ (Walking Distance – Free Shuttle)

The Harbor House Pier 21 is located on the waterside, close to the Port of Galveston adjacent to the Historic Strand district. Most bedrooms offer stunning harbor views while the Strand Historic District is just a short walk away. The hotel provides a continental breakfast and guests can use the swimming, spa, and dining facilities at its nearby sister hotel, the Hotel Galvez.

As the Harbor House Pier 21 is located only 0.5 miles from the port’s entry you can easily walk from the hotel to the cruise terminal. If you choose to leave your car at the Harbor House while on cruise, the cost is $15/night. A shuttle to the Cruise terminal is available upon request.

2. The George Manor ★★★★ (Bed & Breakfast)

This historic house from the 19th century is ideal located in the center of the Galveston’s historic district, close to The Strand with its restaurants, bars and antique stores. Guests staying at this bed and breakfast enjoy transportation to and from the cruise terminal ($25 for 2 and $12.50 per extra person). Walking distance to either cruise ship terminal 1 or 2 is approx. 20 minutes. The George Manor also provides transportation to and from both Houston Airports. 

For those willing to leave their vehicle while on cruise vacation the property offers safe secure long-term parking for $150 per week which includes a private shuttle (Black Suburban) to and from the Port.

3. The Tremont House, Galveston, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel ★★★★ (Walking Distance)

The Tremont House Hotel is just a pleasant stroll away from the Strand Historic District and Galveston Beach. Guests can enjoy dining and cocktails in the rooftop restaurant of the Tremont House as well as using the swimming pool and spa of the nearby Hotel Galvez.

Tremont House has cruise parking available at a reasonable cost which includes one night of hotel valet and up to 1 week of cruise parking but only when the Park & Sail package is booked. There is a shuttle service to the port but only for guests who booked this package. The property is only 5 minutes’ walk from the Galveston Cruise Terminal ( Carnival ). Royal Caribbean ‘s new cruise terminal is a bit further away, 25 minutes walk. The best way to get there is by taxi or Uber/Lyft.

4. Hilton Galveston Island Resort ★★★★

The Hilton Galveston Island Resort is just a few steps from the beach, making it the ideal place for adding a few extra days to your cruise vacation. There are a swim-up bar and grill at the center of the hotel’s outdoor heated swimming pool.

The Hilton Galveston Island Resort offers cruise parking and a transfer to port for a fee . There’s also a free shuttle service* to and from the port, but only if you book the park and go package. Parking for extra nights is charged for. It is best to book your transportation when you reserve your hotel room.

5. Avenue O Bed and Breakfast ★★★ (Free Shuttle)

The Avenue O Bed and Breakfast is located in the historic Silk Stocking District, approx. 10 minutes walk from Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and 1.2 miles from cruise terminal 1 and 2. Royal Caribbean’s International cruise terminal is about 1.7 miles from the property. A trolley that goes down 25th Street (a block down) will take you to the beach, Moody Gardens, or the downtown area.

Guests staying here can enjoy a complimentary port transfer and parking for cruisers (free cruise parking only if you book directly with hotel). Plus, free breakfast. A minimum two-night stay is required for parking longer than 7 days and on weekends.

With its beachside location, the Holiday Inn Resort Galveston is the perfect place to spend a few days in the Texan sun. The popular Best Western Plus Seawall Inn & Suites is well located on Seawall Boulevard 5 to 10 minutes walk from Stewart beach. Enjoy wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico from this seaside property. Amenities include a very nice outdoor pool. If you’re leaving on a cruise from Galveston, the port is a short drive away (2 miles or 6-8 minutes).

You can park for free while staying and when enjoying your cruise.

2. Inn at the Waterpark ★★★ (Free Cruise Parking)

If your cruise vacation involves the kids, then this is the perfect place to stay as the Inn at the Waterpark is located right next to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Families can also enjoy a round or two of the hotel’s mini-golf.

The ninety-one rooms of this four-story hotel are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. They offer spacious accommodation with seating areas and unobstructed views of the beachfront. In the communal lounge and dining room, there are lamps and artwork to add to the cozy atmosphere.

The property has an indoor pool and one outside. You can park your vehicle for the duration of your voyage, but there’s no shuttle service. Just stay one night prior or one night after your cruise. Affordable taxi services and uber drivers are available to get you to the port terminals.

This is one of the most booked affordable beachfront hotels offering three-star accommodation. You can admire the magnificent views of the sea and enjoy relaxing in the large pool and garden. All 151 guest rooms are attractive with comfortable furnishings and the cafeteria and lounge areas are spacious and pleasant.

The hotel doesn’t offer transportation to the cruise port, but with a permit, you can leave your car at the hotel while on your cruise.

With delightful tropical surroundings, the Moody Gardens Hotel is right next door to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Guests can choose from several on-site dining options or simply relax in the outdoor pools or spa.

The Moody Gardens Hotel has a Cruise Transportation Package . Enjoy a luxurious room for one night and free parking with a valet service for the entire length of your cruise. Shuttle to the port is not included in the package but the hotel can recommend some companies.

7. Baymont by Wyndham Galveston ★★★ (Affordable)

The bold looking hotel offers exquisite rooms for your comfort. If you love spending time at the beach it is a great place for this. Enjoy the waters within the calm, serene and nature filled environment the hotel offers. You can enjoy the views, and early morning walks to the beach, or evening strolls as the sun sets.

It is close to Galveston cruise port, which gives it an additional plus. Unfortunately they discontinued free cruise parking at the beginning of 2022.

8. Comfort Suites Galveston ★★

This unusual property features a small tower and an arched entrance to the lobby that has wrought iron balustrades lining the wide staircase. Guest rooms are large and modern with a bright decor and wooden paneling.

You can relax in the pool or visit the beach, which is two minutes away. The hotel operates a paid shuttle to the cruise port at Galveston, although kindergarten children go free. There’s also parking available while being on your cruise for a small fee. Free hot breakfast is offered to guests.

9. Motel 6 Galveston, TX Seawall ★★★ (Cruise Parking)

This property is ideal for families as it’s situated just a few minutes from the beach and Galveston’s attractions. There are ninety-six comfortable guest rooms that have plenty of space and amazing views of the sea.

In the pleasant breakfast room you’ll find a cheerful decor while outside there’s a picnic area and pool. There’s parking during your cruise which costs $10.00/day, but you’ll have to take a cab or Uber to the cruise port.

10. Howard Johnson by Wyndham Galveston ★★

Like many Galveston properties, this attractive budget hotel is two storys high with covered, wrought iron balconies. There’s a relaxed atmosphere in the compact, simply furnished rooms, while the communal lounges and dining areas are spacious and informal with comfortable seating.

Outside, you’ll find wooden benches and barbecue facilities on the terrace. You can park for free while taking your cruise (based on availability) and their is a shuttle service directly across the street. The port is four miles away.

11. Super 8 by Wyndham Galveston ★★

This charming inexpensive two-story hotel features balconies and an arched porch. You’ll find the comfortable guest rooms have a stylish, modern decor with bright colors and minimalist furnishings. The breakfast room has plenty of seating and there’s space to relax outdoors in the garden area alongside the pool.

The cruise port is five miles away and although there isn’t a shuttle service. As of March 2022, the property no longer offers free parking for cruises.

12. Grand Galvez ★★★★

The Hotel Galvez is housed in one of the island’s grandest most historic houses and is a pleasing blend of old-world elegance and modern amenities. Guests can dive into a saline pool with a swim-up bar, and a spa as well as a restaurant well known for its delicious seafood menu.

The hotel offers cruise parking at a reasonable cost. There is a complimentary shuttle service to the cruise port for all guests, whether they are using the parking facilities or not. Shuttle reservations should be made at the valet staff when checking in to the hotel.

The Cruise Port of Galveston TX

The port of Galveston has three terminals (from November 2022) and is used by several cruise lines including Carnival, Disney, Princess, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. Interstate 10, Highway 146, and Interstate 45 link Galveston to mainland Texas and there is ample parking at the port with a guaranteed place for every cruise passenger who requires it.

The Port of Galveston is 45-minutes from Houston Hobby Airport and 75-minutes from Houston Intercontinental Airport .

Galveston Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

When it comes to Galveston cruise parking, you have lots of options on where to park while you take your trip.

While the port offers official parking, there are close to a dozen other independent options that all compete for your business. The result? Galveston has the cheapest parking of any cruise port in America. Many lots charge about $15-$20 per day for outdoor spots when you add in all taxes and fees. ( Many hotels also offer free or discounted parking if you stay with them a single night before your cruise .)

With all of the options, it can be a little overwhelming to figure out where you should park. Truth is, most lots are similar and located about the same distance from the port. The major differences between most lots is whether or not they offer covered/indoor parking and of course, the price you’ll pay.

Galveston Cruise Parking Lot Details

Below, we’ve included a price list across all your options. Just note that prices can vary based on season, trip length, parking lot, and even which cruise line you sail. We’ve included all taxes and fees where applicable .

For all lots it’s a good idea to reserve and pay online ahead of time. Not only does this guarantee you a parking spot, but online reservations usually have a discount off the “drive-up” price. We also have a listing of coupons (up to $15 off!) here.

As well, since the Port of Galveston charges shuttles from outside parking lots an access fee to drop off at the cruise ships, there are often discounts if you park and walk instead of using the shuttle . Keep in mind that rates can change.

Port of Galveston Cruise Parking Lots (Official Port Lots) No matter which cruise terminal you sail, the Port of Galveston offers official port parking, and guarantees a space for all cruise passengers. That said, there are a number of different parking options provided by the port, which come with different prices, making things a little confusing.

Economy Lots: The port offers a number of surface lots (Lots A-B) that sit on either side of Harborside Drive, between 29th Street and 33rd Street. The lots are fenced and lit. Parking for oversize vehicles is available for an extra charge. The price is $147 (all prices inclusive of taxes and fees) for a 7-day cruise. Five-day cruises see a price of $106. A shuttle to the ship is provided.

Express Lot & Parking Garage: In addition to the economy lots, the port also offers premium options. The first is an Express Lot that’s at the door of Cruise Terminal 28. It offers the ability to park and walk just a few steps to the terminal. As well, there is another lot at Pier 25. This costs $162 for a 7-day trip and $117 for a 5-day cruise.

Then there is also a covered parking garage across the street from Harborside and a short walk to both terminals. The garage charges lots are priced at $200 for a 7-day cruise and $144 for a 5-day cruise. No shuttle is provided given the short distance.

Cruise Terminal 10 Parking: Cruise Terminal 10 is the newly built Royal Caribbean terminal, located east of the other terminals. This spot offers four parking areas: North Lot (located closest to the terminal), South Lot, Pier 12 Lot, and the Pier 14 Lot. The North Lot and Pier 12 Lot cost $200 for a 7-day cruise and $144 for a 5-day trip. The South Lot and Pier 14 cost $178 (7-day) and $127 (5-day).

• Distance/Shuttle: 5-7 blocks from the port (shuttle provided for free). Garage/Express Lot parking is at the cruise ships. Terminal 10 parking is at or a short distance from the terminal.

Discount Cruise Parking Among the cheapest places to park, Discount Cruise Parking can offer affordable rates, along with a new location that’s much closer to the terminals than the lot used to be.

We found rates of $92 (including taxes and fees) for uncovered parking during a 7-day cruise. Rates for shorter 5-day cruises were $78 after all taxes and fees.

In addition, the parking lot offers a free shuttle that picks up and drops off at the cruise terminals every 15 minutes.

Cruise Park Galveston This small lot is one of the closest to the port, but it is also among the cheapest with prices around $95 for a week. 

The parking cost for a six-night cruise is $82 after taxes and fees. Seven-night cruises are $95. Eight-night trips will run $108. Parking for shorter cruises isn’t available.

The outdoor lot is fenced. It is also easy to find (you can’t miss the big “Cruise Park” sign on Harborside Drive).

Note that this lot only serves Carnival ships at the moment . This lot won’t work if sailing another line. If your cruise isn’t with Carnival, then you’ll have to find another lot. There is also no shuttle to the port.

Falstaff Cruise Parking/Patriot Cruise Parking Don’t get confused as this lot seems to go by two different names: Falstaff Cruise Parking and Patriot Cruise Parking. No matter, they refer to the same spot.

Falstaff offers indoor parking and outdoor lots. Note that that the lot is a little farther than most lots from the port, but still a quick free shuttle ride to the port.

In our search we found parking for $171 for indoor parking for a week cruise after taxes and fees with the shuttle. There is also outdoor parking for $129 for a week with taxes/fees.

Sailing on a five-day cruise? We found rates of $149 per car for indoor parking and $119 for outdoor.

Lighthouse Parking Lighthouse Parking is located right next to the Port of Galveston’s “official” lots. Lighthouse offers   covered parking for $149 a 7-day trip or uncovered parking for $128 after all taxes and fees (rates can vary slightly). Prices for a five-day cruise are $111/$91 for covered and uncovered. Before you book, be sure to check their coupon page for discounts.

Reservations are suggested. Your rate includes a shuttle to and from the port, located 5-7 blocks away. Also, if you are worried about storms while you are away, know that Lighthouse Parking offers an elevated lot. Oversize vehicles are also welcomed.

Park 2 Cruise Galveston You may notice that several lots only serve Terminal 25 and 28. Cruise Terminal 10, which is home to Royal Caribbean, sits farther east than he other terminals Due to the distance, many lots don’t offer parking for the cruise line.

Park 2 Cruise Galveston, however, is a new lot that’s directly the street and serves only Royal Caribbean. Fenced and lit, it offers outdoor parking. 

Rates are $115 for a 7-day cruise. Five-day cruises have a parking fee of $91. Note there is no shuttle, but the walk is short.

EZ Cruise Parking EZ Cruise Parking offers elevated lots with high fencing and lighting to keep your car safe. While it doesn’t offer covered parking, the company does rent car covers if you are worried about the sun or salt air. Oversize vehicles aren’t allowed.

While the lot is within walking distance of the cruise terminal, it does offer shuttle service. There is a discount for walking to the port instead of taking the shuttle . Reservations are recommended as the lot often sells out.

Prices runs $160 for a 7-day cruise with shuttle, after taxes/fees. Skip the shuttle and the price is $137. Five-day cruises see prices of $114 with taxes if you take the shuttle or $98 with no shuttle.

Galveston Park N Cruise It doesn’t get much closer to the port than with this parking lot. It is among the closet independent lots to the port (Terminals 25/28), located just across Harborside Drive. The entire lot is fenced and lit. Most parking is outdoors, but there is also indoor parking for an additional fee. 

Because the lot if relatively tight, no RVs or oversize vehicles can park here. Given the proximity to the port, it’s a great option for those who want to be able to walk to the ship and not have to wait on a shuttle. Parking is not available for Royal Caribbean cruises.

Prices are $175 for a week of indoor parking after taxes/fees and $145 for a week of outdoor parking. Prices for five days are $137 for indoor parking after taxes/fees and $119 for outdoor.

Port Parking Situated close to the official Port of Galveston parking, this facility offers both indoor and outdoor parking in its 24-hour secured lots. The lot does offer a discount if you don’t take a shuttle, however, we consider this distance too far to walk (nearly a mile).

Galveston VIP Cruise Parking This lot boasts the absolute closest location to the cruise terminal from a non-port lot — literally just across the street from Terminals 25 & 28. No need to catch a shuttle. You can simply walk to the cruise port. Parking is not available for Royal Caribbean cruises.

All spots are indoor parking. Keep in mind that because of the building, they can’t offer parking for oversize vehicles. Given the prime location and small size of the lot, it’s a good idea to reserve your spot ahead of time as it will fill up. 

Rates are $192 for seven days after taxes/fees. Five-day cruisers pay $148 after taxes and fees.

Cheapest Galveston Cruise Parking

Who has the cheapest parking for a Galveston cruise ? Among the least expensive options are Discount Cruise Parking and Cruise Park Galveston. Both charge around $90 for parking during a seven-day cruise.

PARKING AND MOBILITY Our Mobility Department is devising ways to move cruise-related traffic to its final destinations most efficiently. All customers who park at Cruise Terminal 10 will benefit from expedited entrance and exit at parking facilities with new license plate recognition technology.

Discount Cruise Parking has moved much closer to the terminal and is at 433 33rd Street, Galveston TX 77550. They were still the cheapest from those available when I searched. (I had a four-day cruise during the week and half the parking lots were not even open.) I will know next week if the service is still good.

Jim how was the parking at Discount Cruise Parking? I am trying to decide if I want to use this lot for my upcoming cruise for this December.

Hotel Galvez is now Grand Galvez with new owners, and no longer offer cruise parking or cruise port shuttle service.

I am a disabled veteran 100 percent I am visiting a friend in Arkansas and are Carnival Cruise leaves on March 21 to the 26th will be driving from Arkansas to Galveston and leaving on the dream but the car we’re bringing down is my friend’s car but I did bring my packer plate from my car in Pennsylvania would that work to get the free parking the car is registered in her name not mine…

I’d suggest calling the port at 409-765-9321. That’s a pretty intricate situation.

Do you have Purple Heart parking prices

Purple Heart recipients can park for free at the official Galveston port lots. According to their website:

“To qualify for complimentary parking space you will need the following: State vehicle registration receipt with Disabled Veteran or Purple Heart Recipient designation along with driver’s license or state-issued ID to match vehicle registration information.”

“In addition, the Disabled American Veteran or Purple Heart Recipient MUST be present at time of check in along with the vehicle that has the DV/PH license plate.”

You don’t have to reserve ahead of time. Just show up and let the attendant know. They will direct you on how to park for free.

Sonesta Suites in Webster

The proximity of Harbor House Hotel & Marina to the port makes it one of the most popular cruise hotels in Galveston.

Here is a video of the walk from Harbor House to the port. A nice slow walk took me four minutes including waiting for a walk signal at an intersection.

Just two blocks away in the opposite direction from the port is Cruise Plaza. Cruise Plaza has a food store where you can pick up some last minute items and a liquor store where you can grab that bottle of wine to take on the ship.

Harbor House has a gated parking lot. When you check in they will give you a parking pass for your windshield and set up a card with in/out privileges. They charge $15/day during your stay and $15/day if you choose to park there during your cruise.

This is the parking pass that you put on your dash board.

The lobby is pretty small. If there are more than a few groups waiting to check-in, I could see some people having to stand outside.

Business Center

They have a Business Center with a computer and printer in the lobby area. Again you get an idea of how tight this area is with the bellman’s cart blocking the chair.

My room was on the 3rd floor. They have sanitizing stations by the elevators.

You can also take stairs if you prefer them to elevators.

This is my room which was room 311. It can be a connecting room if that’s what you’re looking for.

The picture didn’t come out but there is a refrigerator and a microwave in those two cabinets on the right.

I liked that they had USB ports on the clock radio next to the bed.

I did have to sit at the desk for some work. I’m not a fan of the plastic chair.

Restaurants

On one side of Harbor House is Willie G’s Seafood and Steaks .

On the other side of Harbor House is Katie’s Seafood House .

Or just two blocks away from the hotel is the Strand District which has many bars and restaurants.

Right next to the hotel parking lot is the Ocean Star offshore drilling rig and museum .

On the other side of the hotel on Pier 21 they have various booths where you can purchase tours.

Checkout was easy. They slid an express checkout sheet under my door. I had prepaid my hotel room so I only had a parking charge which went to the credit card I put on file at check-in.

I do recommend this hotel especially as a pre-cruise hotel. It’s proximity to the port is outstanding. I liked having the two restaurants and the Ocean Star right next to the hotel. Being just a short walk to the Strand District was nice as well.

Galveston Harbor House Parking Question

Where is the parking lot for the Harbor House located? Is it on premises? And how secure is it?

Yes it is on premises. We have stayed at the Harbor House pre-cruise and left our vehicle many times with no problem. It is as secure as can be. Parking is no longer free. You now have to pay $20 for cruise parking.

If you book the Harbor House through Galveston.com, you pay 10.80 parking for each night you stay and free parking for duration of your cruise. If you book the hotel any other way such as Priceline or travelocity etc where Harbor House has to pay commission or reduce their rates to someone then you do have to pay for cruise parking. This info is per the manager of Harbor House, and is printed on my confirmation sheet. Our stay is 9/12/2010.

I am glad you have it on your confirmation. I just stay in the Harbor House the beginning of June and I booked on galveston.com and they charged $20 for parking but not the $10 for the night we stayed there.

Wow Nonna5, I am sorry to hear that. What did it say on your confirmation sheet? With mine being in writing they would have a tough time enforcing that, especially with the date, time and name of when I called to verify on 3/30/10. I really don't see how they can continue to do free parking because their lot is small and they have a lot of cruise passengers staying there. I'm OK, even if they tried to charge me as I have free parking at Lighthouse, but if I didn't have that option and they tried to charge, I would throw a fit.

The parking lot is small but appears enough for the hotel

and some more cruise customers. Never have really seen it full.

There should always be plenty of room for parking

unless something unusual.

And there is still a larger parking lot next to the hotel parking lot,

which they own also.

And they have parking lot garage at Galvez they can use also.

The Tremont uses the Galvez Garage when need be.

As far as the parking rates I don't know.

All three hotels - HH, Galvez and Tremont owned by same family.

We have the HH reserved for our cruise on 10/10/10 for 1 night and were told the total parking fee for 1 night and for the 7 day cruise would be $30.

Just in case some are not aware: Parking at the terminal is free for Service Connected Disabled Veterans, documentation must be provided to support the claim.

Jeanno222 - I am sure it will be fine for you since you have it in writing. This is probably new since you booked. I did not book until 6/1 for my 6/3 cruise on the Ecstasy. I never know when I am going to be able to get away the day before until the last minute for my short trips. Just a bummer since they are charging to park. I use to justify going down the night before because I was able to get the hotel at a reasonable rate and then not have to pay parking at the pier. I am only a hour from Galveston so I guess I will have to rethink that in the future. Along with Carnival's now 200% for singles.

Bottom Line

Within a short walk of the cruise port and a host of restaurants and tourist attractions, the 42-room Harbor House is a convenient mid-range option for couples and families on a brief Galveston layover. Rustic wood floors, metal stair rails, and bare-bulb light fixtures invoke an industrial-hip vibe. Given its location on a busy pier, the spacious and light-filled rooms are surprisingly quiet, and come with comfortable beds, large flat-screen TVs, and ocean or marina views. Wi-Fi is free, boat slips and parking are available, and a cold breakfast is included -- although the offerings are mediocre. The hotel also lacks a pool and fitness room, although guests can use the facilities at a sister hotel (Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel). For another mid-range option with a pool and beach, consider the Holiday Inn Resort Galveston.

Oyster Hotel Review

A hip warehouse vibe, but no place to hang out.

The hotel’s entrance directly off the pier leads to a narrow lobby with loft-like ceilings and bare Edison bulb fixtures suspended over the reception desk. Exposed beams and roughhewn wood plank floors give off a hip warehouse vibe. The industrial theme continues throughout the public spaces, where the neutral gray color scheme is punctuated here and there with a bright piece of furniture or abstract wall print. Apart from a couple of upholstered chairs near the front desk, there is no cocktail lounge or lounge area where guests can sit and chat. A utilitarian breakfast area off the lobby feels cramped and uninviting. Guests are a mix of families and couples, many of them on a cruise layover. 

On Pier 21, walking distance from the cruise port, restaurants, and fun attractions 

Located on Pier 21 overlooking Galveston Channel, Harbor House is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and tourist destinations. Highlights within a 10-minute walk include the Texas Seaport Museum, Grand 1894 Opera House, and East-End Theatre Company. The city's major cruise terminal is about six minutes away. Attractions on the opposite end of the island, like the beach and the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, are within a 10-minute drive. Also within 15 minutes of driving are the Schlitterbahn Island Water Park and Moody Gardens. George Bush Intercontinental Airport is over an hour's drive away.

Bright, clean-lined rooms with timbered ceilings and marina views 

The hotel offers three room types: The Skipper (two queen beds), The Admiral (one king bed), and The Captain's Quarters (a suite with separate living area, two flat-screen TVs, and a sofa bed). All rooms are carpeted and clean-lined, with exposed timbered ceilings, custom headboards, and bright-colored accent walls behind the beds. Comfortable beds have pillow-top mattresses and high-quality linens, and windows offer natural light and marina views. Renovated, neutral-tiled bathrooms are nicely sized and come with floating vanities, large walk-in showers, and Bath & Body Works toiletries. Additional conveniences include free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and coffee/tea makers. There have been occasional complaints of moldy odors and rundown facilities. 

On-site parking and marina, free breakfast and Wi-Fi, access to a nearby pool and hot tub

As the only hotel in Galveston that overlooks the harbor, the hotel provides a wonderful vantage point for observing the workings of this busy port. The walking-distance proximity to the cruise terminal is an outstanding feature for ship passengers. Harbor House offers other appealing amenities like on-site parking and boat slips (both for a daily fee). Because there's no kitchen, the free breakfast consists of cold items, which may not be enough for some guests. For guests who want a swim, access to a pool and hot tub are available six minutes away at the Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel.

Selected this hotel because we were getting on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship the following day and it's close to the pier. We arrived early and had been up since 3a traveling/flying from Ohio and getting an Uber here from Houston/Bush Airport (IAH). We had to pay the $20 early check-in fee to get a room. There are plenty of small sit-down restaurants within walkable distance. If you are looking for fast food, Jimmy John's is walkable but anything else requires a car. You can go look at the ships in the dock. The bed is comfy and the shower can accommodate 2 people. Our shower head was kind of broken because not all the settings and nozzles worked. The room has too many switches, some didn't work at all so you have to figure out what's what. They offer a continental breakfast on the 2nd floor with typical selection. We also selected this hotel because they offered a shuttle to the pier for our cruise. At no time did they tell us we would have to reserve the shuttle. Really upset that now we will have to walk down to the pier with our luggage.

My wife planned a cruise out of the Port of Galvaston and decided we should stay near the cruise line. This hotel is located at Pier 21. Our cruise left from Pier 23. We could have walked in less than 10 minutes. Our room was very modern and super clean. The kind of air where it smells either brand new or the hotel has ionized air conditioning. I was impressed with the comfortable beds, clean room and simple cruise parking solution. We took a shuttle to the port but had a bit of confusion getting the shuttle back upon our return. No worries. It was a short walk. I will book a room at the Harborhouse Hotel again when I am in Galvaston going on a cruise or not. Also, we went out to eat that evening and walked a few blocks. There is a steak house next to the hotel that we should have tried.

This is a great location for cruisers. You are right beside the ships....so close in fact that you can walk to your ship when you're ready to board. However, Harbor House has a free shuttle to take you to the ship so no need to worry with walking with all your luggage. PLUS, the seafood restaurants in the area are wonderful. We ate at Katie's and I would definitely eat there again. But I can't write this review without mentioning Dee. We arrived too early for check in but I guess Dee could tell how weary we looked from a day of travel because not only did she let us check in early, but she gave us the best room in the house! It was perfect!!! There was no need to walk out to the pier to watch the ships go by; we could watch them from our room. And the room was huge! I can't say enough about Harbor House and especially Dee. She was a very welcoming and freindly face to begin our vacation. I will most definitely stay at Harbor House next time we cruise out of Galveston. Thank you Dee!

This was my second visit here because of the location of the cruise dock. It's a pretty decent hotel, and the staff does their best to make you feel welcome. I arrived early before check-in because I wanted to see if maybe a room was available. I got to the parking lot and pushed the button for assistance. After some back and forth, I was allowed to park and check in. That wasn't the most pleasant start, but I was partly to blame, I guess, for coming so early. I had to request the cleaning crew to clean my bathroom because it was not clean. Not a big deal, given bathrooms, are hard to clean all spots. My room was PERFECT to see the cruise ships sail in and sail out. And the morning I woke up, I saw my ship at dock. That was a major plus for me. If I could get this room every time, I would suck up the $400 a night cost. In all, not anything that wouldn't make me stay again. As I said, it is very convenient to the cruise port.

Miss D. Is AMAZING! Stayed here the night before our cruise. Miss D. was incredibly friendly and generous. She helped us with directions to the Walmart and gave us recommendations for dinner. The room itself was clean and a great size. Everything about our stay was fantastic! I would definitely recommend staying here any time!

Yes, it is walking distance to everything downtown. BUT the rooms are a cold sauna. The humidity level is possibly 95%. The floors are sticky, a towel, hung in the bedroom, does not dry in 24 hours. In the bathroom it is a wet 24 hrs later as it was when used. I stayed there 4 years ago, this is NOT normal hotel experiences in Galveston

We booked our stay at the Harbor House in August of 2022 we were catching the new ship out of Galveston for Royal Caribbean we came in on a Saturday stay at the Harbor House for Mardi Gras they canceled our reservation the day before we were flying in and put us in the Hilton on Seawall they said it would be a comparable room we were on the second floor facing the parking lot so I paid $400 to look at a bunch of dumpsters I would not stay there and they're very untrustworthy people.... the Hilton's website said that the room we were in was going for $150 a night so they made $230 but just switching it to a different hotel!!! Straight up dirt bags!!! Stay away.

The front desk clerk Dee was fantastic! She was very personable and quick. I was giving my room key to 214 which is a Harbor-view king bed room. The room is very spacious. Has an awesome view of the harbor. I already booked another room for my next cruise. A quick walk to the terminal and that's it.

Check in was a breeze. Rooms were ample and clean. The carpet or room smelled very musty and in dire need of a deep carpet cleaning. The room a/c was not working properly. When we arrived, the room was warm and the unit was showing error code "A2" . We had to call front desk and they advised us to unplug it and plug it back in, to reset it. This worked for approx 4 hrs at a time. We woke up 3x times, during the night to a hot room. We had to repeat the reset. It was quite frustrating and extremely disappointing. We felt a rate adjustment would have been an acceptable courtesy, but one was not offered. When the desk clerk was advised of the issue, he was rather dismissive. The coffee stations on each floor were great. Coffee was good.

The Harbor House is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. Dee, who works in the front is a gem.

It was absolutely beautiful, right on the pier. There are shops and restaurants all around within walking distance. The view from our room was amazing.

The room was unbelievable with such great views. We stepped out and were right on the ocean walk. We loved walking around the area and checking out all the sites. Definitely would recommend.

The location is awesome, walking distance to shopping, coffee and dining. There is even some public Tesla Destination Chargers right across the street. We used the shuttle to get to the Royal Caribbean Terminal and parked our car there for the duration of the cruise.

The location was great, especially for a cruise.Friendly staff, check in was quick. Breakfast area could be a little larger. Continental Breakfast was good. No Complaints.
