Royal Caribbean Perfect Day at CocoCay Bahamas Price List

By: Sherry Laskin · Updated On: September 19, 2022

My first Royal Caribbean cruise was decades ago aboard the old Sovereign of the Seas. The cruise included a stop at CocoCay (properly pronounced Coco”Key”). There was no printed CocoCay price list.

A perfect day at CocoCay meant you could relax on a relatively uncrowded, peaceful beach in the Bahamas .

Nearly everything but booze was included. For only $7, you could rent a floaty mat for the day. There were two volleyball courts beneath the shade of massive pine trees.

Or you could walk along a meandering dirt path around to the back of the island and look for shells or maybe long-lost pirate treasure. CocoCay was itself a treasure of peace and tranquility.

My, how times have changed.

Perfect Day at CocoCay Prices

Royal Caribbean invested $250 million to give the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas a total transformation. This once-tranquil CocoCay was renamed, “Perfect Day at CocoCay.”

And taking poetic license, the cruise line has “Cay” rhyming with “Day”. Or do they??? Check out what I found on their website area for travel agents:

cococay excursion prices

The heart of the “new” private island destination is Thrill Waterpark. There are 13 waterslides and includes the tallest in North America.

Cool off at Oasis Lagoon, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean or for the fearless, try Up, Up & Away, a helium balloon ride with the highest vantage point in The Bahamas, soaring up to 450 feet.

Like almost elsewhere in the world of cruising, everything is on steroids. Bigger ships need bigger cruise terminals to accommodate the bigger ships. And now bigger, private beach destinations.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is a prime example of bigger must be better. And from the looks of what’s happening there, maybe it’s true. Your Perfect Day at CocoCay now comes with a hefty price tag and a lengthy price list, to enjoy all the features and attractions.

And then there’s last minute souvenir shopping, too. Here, you’ll need cash or a credit card. There are a lot of straw items, t-shirts, colorful beach coverups and more.

Colorful little shops in CocoCay.

Where is CocoCay Bahamas Located?

CocoCay was once named Little Stirrup Cay located in the chain of the Berry Islands. The Berry Island Archipelago is located about 55 miles north of Nassau. CocoCay is close to Norwegian Cruise Lines’ private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

Perfect Day at CocoCay view from above.

What is Free at CocoCay?

Thankfully, a few things at CocoCay don’t come with a price tag. There are still a lot of free things to do, eat and enjoy. What Royal Caribbean calls the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, Oasis Lagoon, doesn’t cost a dime.

There’s a kid’s water play area with a pirate shipwreck as the focus called Captain Jack’s Galleon with slides and water cannons. Another free area is Splashaway Bay water park plus sports courts on South Beach.

Also at South Beach and Chill Island, you’ll find free beach chairs and beach activities. And food!

Cococay Chill Grill Restaurant

When your stomach starts to rumble, CocoCay offers five complimentary dining spots throughout the island. These include Skipper’s Grill, Chill Grill and three Snack Shacks.

Will a Drink Package Work at CocoCay?

Absolutely. If you purchased an onboard Royal Caribbean Drink Package , you can use it on CocoCay.

Perfect Day at CocoCay Price List

Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay prices to experience the water park have changed from the original cost in 2018. Their website doesn’t list the actual cost unless you have a booking. So I made a temporary “booking” to access the chart below.

Remember, CocoCay prices can vary based on season. What has stayed the same is kids under three years still have free admission.

You can also purchase half-day passes for Thrill Waterpark and a combo Thrill Waterpark + Zip Line.

Wristbands are used for your entry into Thrill Waterpark. Once you have a wristband, you may enter and exit the park as often as you like. Half-day passes are for afternoons only.

READ NEXT: Radiance of the Seas Review on an Alaska Cruise

The admission price to Thrill Water Park gives you access to what’s billed as I mentioned earlier, the highest water slide in North America, Daredevil’s Peak, at 135-feet. The cost also includes another 12 waterslides, Wave Pool, Adventure Pool, complimentary dining at Snack Shack, beach chairs and towels.

Beach umbrellas, spa services and water sports toys are at an additional cost. Towels and beach loungers are still free.

How Much Does a CocoCay Cabana Cost?

For shade, there are plenty of options; beach umbrellas, clamshells, and daybeds- all available for a rental charge. Over at the beach, there are cabanas available at Thrill Waterpark, and Oasis Lagoon freshwater pool.

CocoCay Overwater Cabanas

The overwater cabanas at Coco Beach Club accommodates up to eight guests and comes with attendant service, a private hammock, a minibar, and your own personal slide into the sea.

Some cabanas come with extra perks, too. If you reserve a cabana at Thrill Waterpark, you’ll enjoy complimentary entry to all of the slides and activities inside for up to six guests.

If you reserve a cabana at Coco Beach Club (including the overwater cabanas), you’ll enjoy complimentary access to the club for up to eight guests.

An overwater cabana for eight including full admission to the attractions can run as high as $1,799 during peak season.

The price of a Coco Beach Club overwater cabana also includes admission to the beach club with its complimentary restaurant, an exclusive beach, a beach clubhouse and other amenities.

What Activities Cost Extra at Perfect Day at CocoaCay?

If you want to ride the 1,600′ zip line or soar 450′ skyward in a tethered helium balloon, it’ll cost you. Here’s the new Perfect Day at CocoCay price list for all the attractions, experiences.

Note the asterisk in their price chart. The cost, especially for the Cabanas, can increase dramatically without notice. This depends on the season, ship capacity, and other factors.

That’s why Royal Caribbean is not listing a specific dollar amount for Cabana rentals.

cococay excursion prices

All said, unless you want to dish out the big bucks for a private cabana, it really looks like a quiet day at CocoCay of the past, is gone.

Hi Barbara, Thank you for taking the time to send your comment. I’m actually laughing at how ridiculous the prices are at CocoCay for one of the premium cabanas. Keep in mind, though, that March is high-season and that’s part of the reason for the outrageous $3,799 price. It would be interesting to see if all the overwater cabanas are sold. I’ll bet all will be sold or nearly all. Crazy.

Thank you also for reading my article about the price list for CocoCay. Much appreciated! Have a fun cruise (despite the cabana cost)!

I have to say that I am utterly shocked by the cabana rates for our March 2023 cruise. An overwater cabana is $3,799 (no typo). Even if you put 10 people in it, that is still $380 per person. The least expensive cabana is about $1,299. The one-day cabana is going to be more than most paid per person for the cruise!

Hi Cookie, Thanks for reading my CocoCay article. Prices at CocoCay may fluctuate slightly based on season, anticipated crowd size or Royal Caribbean’s whim. But discounts are highly unlikely. Good question, though. Thanks for taking the time to ask it! Enjoy your day at CocoCay!

Are there ever discount tickets for cococay

August 17, 2022 at 3:15 pm

Hi Heather, Thank you for reading my article. To the best of my knowledge, your prepaid gratuities cover the onboard service staff. This is probably a question best left to be answered by Royal Caribbean, or something your travel agent could find out for you. You could inquire with someone at Shore Excursions if the reservation agent can connect you. My guess is that it’s better to be prepared with a gratuity than not to have any cash, just in case.

Thank you again for reading and taking the time for your question. Have a terrific cruise!

Thanks for this article. I’m curious if my overwater cabana rental included gratuity or if I should plan on adding gratuity on the day of. For reference, my party all has purchased the alcohol package and prepaid all gratuities.

Hi Linda, Thank you for your question. Your SeaPass card is used for almost everything related to Royal Caribbean, except as you mentioned, local shopping kiosks. It would depend on the merchant if they accepted a credit card. According to Royal Caribbean’s website today, lockers are still free. Enjoy your cruise!

August 2, 2022 at 6:44 pm

I was there in March 2022 and those were the prices. Royal Caribbean can change the rates on a whim, based on location, capacity, holiday season etc. They can and do charge up to $3,000 for an overwater cabana but as I said, when I was there, they were $1,500. Thank you for your comment.

' src=

August 2, 2022 at 3:38 pm

are u high. NEWSFLASH.. Cabanas $2500 each.. Minimum $250 each for cococlub day pass. Why are saying the rates are so much less? Have you even been to cococay club?

' src=

July 30, 2022 at 12:35 am

It states all things are using your Sea Pass card. Except for shopping, t shirts etc. It says to pay cash. Are credit cards accepted. Also are the lockers free?

July 27, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Hi Brad, Wow! I totally understand your frustration with all of this. In my opinion, the cost at CocoCay should be fixed, not fluctuate based on season, holidays or ship. There’s a good chance that if you had booked with through a travel agent, he or she may have been able to “negotiate” with their sales rep to add more onboard credits to equal the change in the Thrill Water Park pricing.

If it was me, I would keep pestering Royal Caribbean and ask to speak with a supervisor – throw in the word “Escalate” and see if that helps the reservation person to act.

Sorry that this happened…and I’ll be you’re not the only family that’s going through something similar. Good luck! And thank you for taking the time to reply with your issue. It helps me to learn what’s happening, too.

Thank you for updating the prices. I had purchased a cruise on the harmony of the seas for Jan 22 in 2023 last year. At the same time, the thrill water park was available to purchase, so I did for a total of about of $440 for a family of 6. A month or so later Royal Caribbean had to change the ship from Harmony to Wonder (however everything was to stay the same, same ports, same dates, etc..), which was fine. Without notifying me, they cancelled my thrill water park reservation and when I called they said I couldn’t re-purchase it yet and had it wait until RC re-offered it, but I was to call to get everything corrected. Well they finally re-listed it and it is now double the price, $880 for my family of 6. I have been on the phone for hours and they refuse to honor my original price. After hours, the “best” they say they can do is offer $200 in onboard credit (originally on the first call the “best” they could do was $100 in onboard credits) in an attempt to prevent me from escalating my call to a manager. I have now been waiting for close to a week now for a call back. Very frustrating and unethical I feel. Their justification is that it is a completely different sailing, even though the original email about the change in ship noted the only thing that would change was the ship and the stateroom.

Hi Janice, Thank you for your comment. CocoCay certainly has changed since we both visited there “back in the day!” I agree, there wasn’t much there except to relax in a hammock under a palm tree, have the BBQ lunch, water sports or walk the beach. Very low key. Now it’s become its own theme park destination, though there still are a few quiet spaces to relax. You’ll be amazed when you return, for sure. I also hope you have the chance to experience the new CocoCay. Thanks also for reading my article…much appreciated.

Hi Marina, Thank you for adding your comment. Yes, converting from USD to Euro will be helpful to many cruisers. Thank you!

My first cruise was also on Sovereign of the Seas. It was the last cruise on that ship. We went to Coco Cay and Nassau. There were hammocks and lounge chairs. We snorkeled and there was a BBQ buffet for a couple of hours. There were a few vendors. They were renting floating mats for $10 but we were too cheap to do that! It was relaxing but nothing to write home about. Food was mediocre at best. Now I would LOVE to go back!!! I hope I get the chance.

Hi Mary, Thanks for your question. That’s a tough question to accurately answer. A lot depends on when you travel, how many passengers are onboard, weather etc. In general, the lines do move well, not like at Disney where you can wait for hours! Before you purchase your 4-hour pass, ask the shore excursion desk for their thoughts – they might have some insight as to how many passes were purchased. Have a terrific day at CocoCay!

' src=

April 26, 2022 at 9:55 am

Do you happen to know how the lines are for all of the attractions within the waterpark? Wondering how much we would be able to get out of a 4 hour pass.

April 22, 2022 at 3:17 pm

Hi Patricia,

The difference between “old” Cococay and the new Perfect Day are really extreme! I’m glad you were able to experience the before and after Cococay. There are parts of the new one that I like, too. Although I will admit that I enjoyed being able to walk what used to be a deserted beach on the other side of the island, back in the day.

Thank you for reading my article and taking the time to leave such a nice comment. It’s much appreciated!

Hi Sherry; I must agree that Coca Cay looks a whole lot better now than when my husband and I went there on a Royal Caribbean Cruise for our honeymoon. I have pictures of the day that probably needs to be archived now…lol. It looked so primitive when we were there: some small huts, small market, hammocks and a nice beach walk. I still have my map of Coca Cay that shows up how to get around the island. We re-visited Coca Cay in 2019….what a difference a 250 million dollar update made and we enjoyed it.

April 20, 2022 at 9:30 pm

Hi Sharry, Thank you for reading my article and sending your question. I double-checked with Royal Caribbean and here’s their info: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/shoreExcursions/product/detail/view.do?sourcePage=shorexByPort&ProductCode=ZH97&DestinationCode=

Yes, at this time (subject to change as it is stated) Royal Caribbean states that there are half-day passes available. Adults and children are both $39.00 per person for approximately 4 hours at Thrill Waterpark. A waiver must also be signed and anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by someone over 18. Minimum height for the slides ranges from 40 – 48″.

I hope this helps!

' src=

April 20, 2022 at 1:01 am

I would like to know if on summer 2022 there will be a half day pass for the 13 waterslides at coco cay? And what is the price?

August 17, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Hi Mieke, Thank you for reading the article and sending your question. Yes, combo package for Thrill and Zip Line are offered. The easiest way to reserve it is to go through the Cruise Planner on Royal’s website and choose your shore experiences there. Or your travel agent or a cruise line res agent can also add it to your booking. Have a great time!

' src=

August 17, 2021 at 7:00 pm

Is the cruise line still offering the combination Thrill Water Park + Zip Line discount pass? If so, what is the best way to purchase these prior to sailing?

July 20, 2021 at 11:20 am

Hi Kathy, Thank you for your question. The Wave Pool is located within Thrill Waterpark, and as you noted, there is an admission fee. The cost can vary depending on when you travel. At last check, the cost can vary from about $44 – $99 for ages 4 and up. Thanks again for reading my article and have a fun cruise vacation!

July 19, 2021 at 2:29 pm

Hi Sue, Many thanks for reading my article and taking the time for your question. If you and your friends want to be where there is a good chance of less kids, you might want to head to Chill Island beach area (go to the left when you get to the island) or go straight ahead all the way to Coco Beach Club. There is a premium cost to spend the day at Coco Beach Club, somewhere in the range of $80 per person and up. When you log in to your account on Royal Caribbean, you can get the exact rates, as they vary by season as well. These are the two areas I’d recommend if you don’t want to be inundated with kids. There isn’t an “Adults Only” section at CocoCay. Thank you again and have a wonderful cruise!

May 9, 2020 at 3:25 pm

Hi Brooke, You brought up some very interesting and involved questions as well as the fact that quite a few people are traveling together. So that I’m not caught in the middle of this with any inaccurate information or misinterpretation, my best suggestion to you would be to ask your travel advisor for the exact details that you mentioned. If you didn’t work with a travel advisor, you should call Royal Caribbean. If the reservation person cannot clearly answer your question, then ask to speak with someone in the Shore Excursions department. Sorry I can’t be of more help here…but there’s quite a bit at stake and I don’t want to confuse or give out incorrect information. Thank you for taking the time to write and I hope you and your family have a wonderful cruise!

This is in regards to renting a land cabana at coco beach club. I was curious as to how pricing works. Is it per person or just for the cabana. As well it says it comes with complimentary admission to the club for up to 8 guests. My mother is the one purchasing the cabana but it doesn’t allowed her to to pick who will be in the group. If she rents the cabana and we arrive on the island do we go to coco beaches desk and check in saying how many we have (7) and then we all get access to the club? I just need clarity on how the complimentary access for up to 8 people works and how it will play out once we are on the island. Thank you.

January 4, 2020 at 7:05 pm

Hi Lynsie, Thank you SO much for your email to point out this issue. After digging around on both the public and travel agent areas on their site, I cannot pull up the new price list. I’ll have to book myself with a refundable deposit to get to the planning area for the pricing. The new list is horrible as it doesn’t show prices…and that’s because (I’d guess) as the fine print says, “Subject to change based on sailing date.” I haven’t been to CocoCay with the new attractions, but I’ve heard it’s like an amusement park, not the peaceful beach retreat it used to be. Thank you again for pointing out the out-of-date chart. As soon as I can, I will change to the new one with actual prices (subject to change, lol!). Sherry

' src=

January 3, 2020 at 12:08 pm

Unfortunately, your article is out of date. The prices have gone up a ridiculous amount! When we first booked our 2020 cruise, I saw full day passes to Thrill were $74. Not realizing that was actually a great deal at this point, I didn’t purchase them. Now, they are $132 EACH, which they call a “pre-cruise deal.” Cabanas with passes are a minimum of $1000. These prices are over the top crazy. Very disappointed in RCL for this. 🙁

May 13, 2019 at 2:21 pm

Hi Doug, I contacted Royal Caribbean. The person I spoke with said none of the cabana rental categories include the Up, Up and Away or Daredevil’s Tower. Good question! Thanks for writing and have a great cruise! Sherry

Have rented a cabanas at Co Co Cay. Is the up up and away and daredevils tower included in cabana rental price? Thanks, Doug

Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay guide

Erica Silverstein

What's your perfect day in port on a cruise? For some cruisers, it's relaxing on the beach, umbrella drink in hand. For others, it's all the water sports. Your kids might vote for an epic amusement park, while young professionals might be looking to let loose and party.

Royal Caribbean 's private Bahamian island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, aims to create the ideal vacation day for nearly everyone with its plethora of attractions. It features multiple beaches, a giant pool, water play areas and thrill rides for kids and adults of all ages. Plus, there's plenty of dining areas and bars to keep you fueled up for all the fun.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

A visit to the island can seem overwhelming at first. Which beach do you choose — or should you head straight for the pool? Should you book an excursion, or is there no need? Can you enjoy the island without paying extra or do you need to cough up hundreds of dollars to have fun?

In this guide, I'll take you on a comprehensive tour, so you can get a better sense of how to plan your perfect day the next time you visit Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day.

Note: Prices for activities and rentals can vary based on sail date and whether they're booked pre-cruise, on board or on shore.

Where is Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay is located in the Bahamas. It's part of the Berry Islands, northwest of Nassau and southeast of Freeport, both popular cruise ports in the Bahamas. It's roughly 140 miles east of Miami.

The island sits just to the west of Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line 's private island, and you'll be able to see that island and visiting NCL ships from Perfect Day.

The island is smaller than 1 mile long and 1/3 mile wide.

Which cruise ships go there?

cococay excursion prices

Nearly every Royal Caribbean ship in the fleet will visit Perfect Day at CocoCay at some point, either during a season of Caribbean or Bahamas cruises or during a repositioning voyage from one cruise destination to another.

It's easier to list the ships that won't be visiting the island. Through April 2025, ships that won't ever dock at Royal Caribbean's private island include:

  • Brilliance of the Seas
  • Navigator of the Seas
  • Ovation of the Seas
  • Quantum of the Seas
  • Spectrum of the Seas

It used to be that only Royal Caribbean ships regularly called at Perfect Day, but now sister cruise line Celebrity Cruises is getting into the action. Beginning in April 2024, Celebrity Reflection will sail three- and four-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale that will visit the private island. Other Celebrity ships that will call on the island a handful of times in 2024 and 2025 include:

  • Celebrity Beyond
  • Celebrity Apex
  • Celebrity Equinox

How do you get to and around Perfect Day at CocoCay?

cococay excursion prices

Two cruise ships at a time can dock at the long pier jutting out from Perfect Day at CocoCay. Passengers can walk off the ship via the gangway instead of taking a tender boat, as they might have to on other cruise lines' private islands.

Once on the island, pathways lead to the various beaches and attractions. It's not actually that far to get anywhere around the island, but when the Bahamian sun is beating down on you, it can feel a lot longer. According to the map, it's 14 minutes from the arrivals plaza to the farthest beach, Cove Beach. But you can have your feet in the sand within three minutes of stepping foot on the island.

For those who can't or don't want to walk the long pier from the ship to the island and from the arrivals plaza to the beach, Royal Caribbean runs a fleet of electric trams that run every 15 minutes. Stops include Thrill Waterpark, South Beach, Coco Beach Club, Oasis Lagoon, Chill Island and Up, Up and Away. Wait at the tram stations for a pickup.

What are the Perfect Day beaches?

cococay excursion prices

Perfect Day at CocoCay has six beaches and the Coco Beach Club. It can be overwhelming trying to decide where to go first when you step foot on the island. But you really can't go wrong — and if you do, just get up and go somewhere else!

The beaches have different vibes, and some are closer to or farther from the arrivals plaza or other amenities such as dining and beach sports. Let that combination decide your first destination. All have complimentary lounge chairs with beach umbrellas (so nice not to have to pay for shade!) and lifeguards.

CocoCay's seven beaches are:

Chill Island

cococay excursion prices

The closest main beach on Perfect Day is Chill Island, a 5- to 10-minute walk from the arrivals plaza. Here you'll find two big and one small sheltered bays with calm water. One end has daybeds and the other cabanas to rent, and in the middle are the open-to-all lounge chairs. In the middle is the Island Market for shopping and the Chill Grill, one of the two main complimentary barbecue lunch venues on Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Breezy Bay at Chill Island

Beyond the rocky breakwaters of Chill Island is Breezy Bay at Chill Island, a smaller, less protected beach. The shore excursions and kayak rental huts are at the corner where the two beaches meet, and your jet ski tours will depart from this beach, as well. Daybeds are available to rent.

There's a Snack Shack between Breezy Bay and the Oasis Lagoon pool, but otherwise you're not so close to food on this beach.

Harbor Beach

cococay excursion prices

Harbor Beach surrounds the Harbor Lagoon, the calmest waters on the island as the lagoon only has one narrow outlet to the sea. This beach is ideal for families with young kids as it's close to both main lunch spots, the Splashaway Bay water play area and the Oasis Lagoon pool. And it's not far from the ship.

Seaside Point

cococay excursion prices

This tiny beach area on the other side of the bridge from the arrivals plaza is Perfect Day's event venue. Weddings are held here, and you can rent out the area for other private functions as well. There's no swimming outlet here, so you'll need to make the short trek to Chill Beach to get wet.

Coco Beach Club

If your idea of a perfect day is living the VIP lifestyle, you'll want to buy access to Perfect Day at CocoCay's exclusive Coco Beach Club. Your pass gets you access to the private beach, infinity pool and upscale beachside restaurant and bar.

Pricing for a Coco Beach Club day pass can vary wildly. Folks online say they're a deal at $89 per person but can run more than $200 per person. Keep an eye out for sales. Cabanas and daybeds in the beach club cost extra, but the price to rent one includes the day pass.

South Beach

cococay excursion prices

South Beach, like its namesake, is the party beach, mainly due to the floating bar just offshore and the sports courts behind. You will be dared to jump off the bar's platform with your beer or "chug, chug, chug" with your friends. Once you get here, via tram or nature trail, everything is at your fingertips. There's a Snack Shack for lunch, Coconut Willie's bar if you prefer not to swim to your cocktail, bathrooms, rentals and the aforementioned sports areas.

Past the exclusive-access cabana and daybed area of South Beach is Cove Beach, the farthest stretch of sand from the ship. No roads lead here; you have to hoof it down the beach from the South Beach tram stop.

What are the best Perfect Day at CocoCay things to do?

If you don't love the feeling of sand between your toes, you've got plenty of other ways to keep busy and get wet on Perfect Day at CocoCay. After all, not everyone's ideal day out looks the same.

The one thing that some other private islands have, but Perfect Day does not, is a spa.

Thrill Waterpark

cococay excursion prices

The first thing you will notice about Royal Caribbean's private island, including from the ship, is its giant multicolored waterslide tower rising above the tree line. This iconic landmark is the 135-foot-tall Daredevil's Peak (the tallest waterslide in North America, according to the line) and it's the signature attraction at Thrill Waterpark.

The park, accessed just off the arrivals plaza, is not included in your cruise fare and you will need to purchase entry via the shore excursions desk on your ship (or online before your cruise). Once you're paid up, just scan your SeaPass card for entry.

The thrill zone is divided into several sections. You'll find a wave pool, an Adventure Pool with watery obstacle courses, Daredevil's Peak with its seven slides (including drop slides, a nearly vertical slide and racing slides) and Splash Summit, the more family-focused slide area. Here, you can try a one- or two-person raft slide, a four-person raft slide that races up a wall before splashing back down and four-way racing slides.

You must be a minimum of 48 inches tall to ride most Devil's Tower waterslides (40 inches for the twin racing slides). The minimum height for the Splash Summit slides is 42 inches, though for the raft slides, you must be 48 inches to ride without a life jacket or adult supervision. Prepare to step on a scale before being allowed to climb the stairs up the slide towers.

cococay excursion prices

Amenities in the water park include plenty of lounge chairs, cabanas for rent, lockers, a Snack Shack and a bar to give mom and dad some liquid courage.

Note: There's little natural shade in this area, and it can get hot walking between the slides or from the splashdown pool back up to the top of the slide to ride again. For maximum enjoyment, visit the water park first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon when the lines have died down. No one wants to wait 45 minutes in the hot sun for a ride.

Cruisers looking for some high-flying adventure with excellent island views can sign up to ride Perfect Day at CocoCay's zip line (for a fee). The 1,600-foot course has three segments that go over the Thrill Waterpark and the Harbor Lagoon.

You'll need to purchase zip line access as you would any shore excursion, and then check in on the island near the Thrill Waterpark entrance. Lockers are available to store your valuables while you ride. You must be at least 4 feet tall and between 75 and 275 pounds to ride.

Captain Jill's Galleon and Splashaway Bay

Little kids have their own water play spaces on Perfect Day at CocoCay, and unlike the main water park, they're free to use.

Captain Jill's Galleon is a pirate ship-shaped play structure with slides, water cannons and fountains. It's perfect for the littlest cruisers, but grownups can enjoy the views from the top.

Splashaway Bay on the island is similar to the onboard versions with a climbing structure, water sprayers, dump bucket and tame waterslides for younger visitors. Get there early if you want to snag a seat in the shade.

Children in swim diapers are allowed in all pools, beaches and water play areas on the island.

Oasis Lagoon

Tired of the beach? Perfect Day at CocoCay also has a huge pool called the Oasis Lagoon for those who prefer a more chlorinated, less wavy dip.

Families tend to stick to the far end of the pool with its sloping entry and gentle fountains. The party crowd gathers around the swim-up bar and its blaring DJ beats. (Seriously, it's the spring break I never had, and a mecca for all the bachelor, bachelorette and birthday groups.) Wandering bartenders will sell you crazy cocktails in souvenir glasses, so you won't go thirsty when you climb out of the pool to dry off.

A nice hybrid area is the section of pool on the other side of the bridge, where you can hear the music but aren't in the bar fray.

The pool has numerous little nooks where you can find in-the-water seats and tables for your drinks or undulating loungers in the shallows. The pool is surrounded by plenty of loungers, rinse-off showers, bathrooms, racks of swim vests and rental cabanas.

The closest lunch options to the pool are the Breezy Bay Snack Shack and Skipper's Grill.

Up, Up and Away balloon ride

I've visited Perfect Day at CocoCay twice, and I've never seen the Up, Up and Away tethered balloon ride in action. A spokesperson for the line tells me it "is temporarily closed for maintenance until further notice."

The colorful helium balloon can be seen around the island, and when it's operational, guests can book 10-minute rides to soar 450 feet into the air. The balloon is tethered, so you only go up and down rather than circling the island.

Beach rentals

You can rent floating mats from three stations, one on South Beach and two on Chill Island. You can pick up snorkel gear for personal use at the snorkel shack on Chill Island near Seaside Point.

Sports and games

If you need a free adrenaline boost on the island, you can get your competitive spirit going at two sports pavilions on Perfect Day at CocoCay. One is located at Breezy Bay and the other on South Beach.

cococay excursion prices

At the pavilions, you'll find hard and sand courts for basketball, volleyball, cornhole/baggo and other games. All are free to use.

You will not find any crew-led games for kids on the island.

What are the excursions at Perfect Day?

In addition to the major activities and attractions on island, you can book several excursions that will take you off the island — or at least out into the water. Personally, I'd save my excursion budget for a different island since the complimentary pools and beaches are so nice (or for the water park), but you've got a few nice options if you're interested in water sports.

cococay excursion prices

Tours include:

  • Certified scuba dive with or without equipment
  • One-hour glass bottom boat ride
  • Guided kayak adventure in two-person kayaks
  • Kayak and snorkel adventure combo (guided kayak plus independent snorkeling)
  • Guided Wave Jet tour on a Sea-Doo jet ski
  • Reef snorkeling by boat
  • Sandbar getaway with snorkeling and water toys
  • Swiming pigs tour in the northern Berry Islands

Does Perfect Day at CocoCay offer cabanas to rent?

cococay excursion prices

If you want to reserve a private space on the island, you have options ranging from beach beds to overwater cabanas. You'll need to decide what type of exclusive hangout you desire, as well as where on the island you'd like it be.

Note that pricing will vary by cruise and cabana location. Royal Caribbean lists prices per daybed or cabana, not per person.

Royal Caribbean rents beach beds on Breezy Bay, Chill Island and South Beach. The double beds sit atop a wooden platform with a full roof and open sides, with curtains for some measure of privacy. Your rental comes with two lounge chairs with an umbrella, two floating mats, a cooler with four complimentary bottles of water and towels.

The price you'll pay is per bed, not per person, and each bed can accommodate four people.

If you're looking for a more substantial retreat, you also have several options for cabana rentals on Perfect Day.

Chill Island cabanas

The Chill Island Cabanas are located at the end of Chill Island by Breezy Bay, farthest from the ship. The attendant noted that while they're situated on a lovely protected bay, the cabanas are far from the island's amenities. If you want to hide away in your cabana all day, they're a great choice, but if you want a more interactive or social beach day, South Beach might be a better bet.

Each cabana is a wooden hut with an open front, thatched roof and front patio area. The interior is furnished with a sectional sofa, cooler stocked with complimentary water and a storage chest. Four lounge chairs sit out front.

A cabana attendant will bring you drinks (at going rates) and food from the Snack Shack menu, as well as towels during your stay.

Each cabana can hold eight people for the same price. You can add two more (for a total of 10) for $50 per person more.

Oasis Lagoon cabanas

The Oasis Lagoon cabanas are identical to the Chill Island versions, except they're nestled in the greenery on the outskirts of Perfect Day at CocoCay's gigantic pool. They're a great place to crash after some hard partying by the swim-up bar, or for parents to relax with kids tuckered out from playing in the pool's shallow area.

These cabanas have a hard limit of eight people.

cococay excursion prices

South Beach cabanas

The South Beach cabanas are the same thatched-roof hideouts that you'll find on Chill Island or by the Oasis Lagoon, but they're located on the middle of South Beach between Coco Beach Club and the South Beach daybed area.

The cabana base rate is for eight occupants, but you can pay $50 extra per person to add another two guests (for a total of 10).

cococay excursion prices

Thrill Waterpark cabanas

The Thrill Waterpark cabanas are the perfect places for parents to relax while their offspring get wet and wild on the slides and in the active pools.

The brightly colored cabanas are scattered throughout the water park. They're more of a basic design than the thatched-roof cabanas — simply a platform with four wooden posts holding up privacy curtains and an umbrella-style roof. The cabanas are outfitted with a sectional sofa, resort chairs, two outlets and a cooler and a couple of lounge chairs with a shade umbrella in front.

Cabana attendants will bring you food and extra-fee drinks. Your fee includes passes for up to six people to the water park. You can invite two more guests for $50 per person, but they will also need to purchase water park day passes individually.

Coco Beach Club is the exclusive, restricted-access area of Perfect Day. You have three options for how to gain entrance to this private beach area with its infinity pool and upscale restaurant.

cococay excursion prices

The most affordable option (though it's not cheap by any means) is to purchase a day pass to the beach club. This will give you access to the pool, restaurant and bar, and the loungers and umbrellas on the private beach area.

Or, you can upgrade with a beach cabana, located along the exclusive beachfront. These are a more upscale version of the cabanas found throughout the island.

The thatched roof huts are open on all four sides with privacy curtains, and feature a deck with four wooden loungers and a shade umbrella. Inside, relax on a chic sectional sofa or padded resort chairs. There's locked storage, a minifridge, charging outlets and complimentary snorkel gear.

If you really want to live it up, go all out with a floating cabana, which Royal Caribbean claims are the first overwater bungalows in the Bahamas. They're set on a dock jutting out from the beach and have similar furnishings to the beach cabanas with the addition of a circular dining table for four and a wet bar. Each also has its own slide into the sea, a two-person overwater hammock and a freshwater shower.

cococay excursion prices

Each of the 10 beach cabanas and 20 overwater bungalows accommodates eight people and comes with the services of a cabana attendant. For the overwater cabanas, if you wish to add one or two guests, you'll need to pay $50 per person extra plus the cost of a Beach Club pass. Even in this extra-free enclave, you'll need to pay extra for all drinks you order (unless you previously purchased a beverage package).

Is food included on Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Yes, multiple venues serve a complimentary barbecue lunch on Perfect Day at CocoCay.

cococay excursion prices

The two main venues are Skipper's Grill (overlooking the Harbor Lagoon, just past Splashaway Bay on the main path) and Chill Grill (between Harbor Beach and Chill Island). They serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with stations for burgers and hot dogs, grilled chicken, tacos, salads, fruit and desserts (don't miss the caramel brownies). Both have drinks stations, soft-serve ice cream machines and a bar.

Seating is at colorful picnic tables with shade umbrellas.

cococay excursion prices

You don't have to trek across the island for lunch if you've chosen lounge chairs away from the grills. Three Snack Shack outposts — one inside Thrill Waterpark, one on South Beach and one between the Oasis Lagoon and Breezy Bay — ensure you're never far from a meal.

The Snack Shacks are huts with multiple order-up windows where you can access a more limited menu than at Skipper's or Chill Grill. You can choose from sandwiches (burgers, hot dogs, crispy chicken), various salads, mozzarella sticks, french fries and dessert (including funnel cakes). You'll find drinks and fruit, too.

Take your selections back to your lounge chair or grab a spot at a nearby picnic table. Snack Shacks are open longer hours, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

cococay excursion prices

If you've paid for access to the Coco Beach Club, you will dine at its upscale restaurant and can order dishes such as lobster and steak unavailable at the island's grill venues.

Unlike the other restaurants on the island, Beach Club passholders still need to make reservations for lunch times at the restaurant. Make them on board on embarkation day; if you wait until you're on the island, the earlier dining times will likely be taken.

Captain Jack's, the large bar located at the entrance of the park, has a food counter serving chicken wings and steak fries for an extra fee from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It seems silly to me to pay for food at the bar when the complimentary Skipper's Grill is a short walk away, but if you're buzzing and don't want to leave the bar, know you have snacks close at hand.

cococay excursion prices

Does my drink package work on Perfect Day at CocoCay?

You are never far from a beer or frozen cocktail on Perfect Day at CocoCay. Even better, unlike at some other cruise line private islands, your onboard drink package is accepted on the island. Just show your SeaPass with its special sticker and you won't have to pay another cent for your pina coladas or White Claws.

cococay excursion prices

The island has eight named bars and five nameless bar stands. Roving waiters will take orders and bring drinks to your lounge chair, as well.

The bars on Perfect Day at CocoCay include:

Captain Jack's Bar: The first bar you'll see, right by the arrivals plaza, has covered and uncovered seating, a row of swing seats and a stage for live music.

Oasis Lagoon Bar: The pool's swim-up bar is usually packed, but if you get out and walk around to the land-based side, you'll find hardly any customers.

cococay excursion prices

Wacky Seagull and Wacky Seagull Jr. Bars: These bars service either end of Chill Island. You'll find one by the beach rentals kiosk and the other by the shore excursions kiosk. The signature drink here is the Coco Loco.

The Cracked Coconut Bar: This bar serves the Harbor Beach crowd and is a fun place to watch the zip liners come flying by.

Floating Bar: Its name tells you all you need to know. This bar on a raft just off South Beach quickly gets loud and rowdy with the party crowd. It's surrounded by palapa-covered tables in the water and circular floating mats.

South Beach Bar: This is the closest watering hole to the South Beach cabanas and daybeds and Cove Beach.

Coconut Willie's Bar: The land-based bar on South Beach is close to the sports courts.

Is there shopping on Perfect Day at CocoCay?

cococay excursion prices

Whether you're looking for souvenirs or need to pick up the sunscreen or swim goggles you forgot to pack, you can find what you're looking for at the shops of the CocoCay Island Market between the central portion of Chill Island and Harbor Beach. You can also get your hair braided.

There's also a CocoCay Logo Shop across from Splashaway Bay, by the back exit of the water park.

All shops will accept U.S. dollars or your SeaPass card as payment.

What additional amenities will I find?

cococay excursion prices

Restrooms and beach showers are scattered throughout the island and are well marked on the maps. You'll also find towel exchange kiosks, designated smoking areas, lockers and first aid stations.

You can check out towels from the ship or once on shore, but you must return to the ship with the same number of towels you took with you and check back in with the towel station just after the security screening. You cannot return wet towels on the island unless you initially checked them out from an onshore kiosk.

The island is Wi-Fi-enabled with Royal Caribbean's Voom internet. Your onboard Wi-Fi package will get you access on the island as well.

Beach wheelchairs and beach strollers with extra-thick tires for navigating Perfect Day at CocoCay's sandy shores are available to borrow throughout the island.

Can you stay overnight on Perfect Day at CocoCay?

You can only have a perfect day and not a perfect night on CocoCay.

You'll see plenty of beds on the island, but they're daybeds for rent. Your cruise ship will leave the island in the afternoon, and the only people who spend the night are a handful of staff members who live on the island.

What's the typical weather like ?

The Bahamas has great weather year-round. Expect highs in the low 80s during the winter and low 90s during the summer. You won't find a ton of natural shade when walking around Perfect Day at CocoCay, and the sun is incredibly strong. Reapply sunscreen more often than you think you need to, to avoid burning!

The rainiest months here are June, August and September. Hurricane season runs June through November, with the peak time for storms August through October. Your ship will not call on Perfect Day if conditions are unsafe.

Don't let a rainy forecast get you down. Like in other tropical destinations, rain showers tend to pass quickly and you can see them coming. I got caught in a downpour for about an hour on my most recent visit, so I hid under an umbrella and ate lunch. Before and after the shower, I enjoyed the beach, pool and attractions with no problem.

Note that if lightning is seen, the lifeguards are required to send everyone out of the water until they get the all-clear.

Perfect Day at CocoCay may not show up on major weather websites, but you can search on the Berry Islands or Great Harbour Cay in the Bahamas to come close.

Can I see a Perfect Day at CocoCay map?

Sure! Here is a map of the island to help you plan your day. You can also find a map in your Royal Caribbean app, but it's awkward because you have to zoom in too much to see anything clearly. Your best bet is to pick up a paper map at your ship's shore excursions desk before you head out to the island.

CocoCay: 21+ Tips & Things to Know for Royal Caribbean’s Private Island (Prices, What to Do, And More)

When it comes to cruise line private islands, there is CocoCay… and then everything else. Royal Caribbean has completely transformed its private island into a world-class port of call with swimming pools, waterslides, exclusive areas and even over-the-water cabanas.

View of CocoCay from Royal Caribbean

Ever since the cruise line put in an investment totaling $250 million (about 25% the cost of a brand-new cruise ship) to completely overhaul the destination a few years ago, those who have visited CocoCay have raved about the island.

But if you’ve never visited before (or it’s been a while since you have) you might be wondering exactly what you can expect during your visit. Cruzely has you covered. Below we review everything you could want to know, including details about everything on the island, from prices to tips and more.

In This Article...

What Is Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Entrance to Thrill Waterpark on CocoCay

For years Royal Caribbean operated CocoCay in the Bahamas. The private island — exclusively for the cruise line’s ships — offered plenty to like. It had beaches, a number of activities, snorkeling, and more. Essentially, it was an extension of life on the cruise ship.

Over the years, you might have noticed that cruise ships have become larger and more extravagant. Today’s ships have entire neighborhoods, wave simulators, countless restaurants, bars, clubs, and more.

In other words, private islands like CocoCay could actually be a downgrade from hanging out on a modern cruise ship. So Royal Caribbean decided to upgrade the island.

Investing $250 million, the area is now known as “Perfect Day at CocoCay” and offers the most wide-range of amenities of any cruise line island.

There’s a complete waterpark, a 33,000 square foot pool, beaches, restaurants, and even over-the-water bungalows straight out of Fiji. It’s all designed to make a world-class destination for Royal Caribbean’s passengers.

Where Is CocoCay?

The island sits in the Bahamas, just about 140 miles due east of Miami. That makes it ideal for any Royal Caribbean ship that sails in the area, including those coming from ports like Miami, Port Canaveral and Port Everglades.

Given the proximity, if you are sailing from anywhere departing the east coast of Florida, then chances are your ship will make a stop here.

What’s the Difference Between the Old CocoCay and the New Version?

To put it simply, just about everything.

The old version of the island had some amenities and entertainment, but it was primarily a place to hang out by the beach and maybe do some water activities like snorkel or kayak.

Perfect Day at CocoCay now has tons of activities. While the main beach (now known as Chill Beach) is still there, practically everything else is new within the past several years. Where there was once just jungle brush now sits an entire waterpark. The cruise line also built the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and the tallest waterslide in North America. And did we mention the helium balloon that can take you up 450 feet in the air?

The closest analogy we can think of is Las Vegas when it was a sleepy town in the desert with a few casinos compared to Las Vegas today.

Here’s a picture of what the island used to look like before the renovation:

And here is a video with lots of images of how it looks now:

What Can I Do on CocoCay?

With the number of attractions, it can be a bit overwhelming to get an idea of everything that’s available. Here’s a run-down of what’s on the island:

Thrill Waterpark ($) Perhaps the crown jewel of the island, the Thrill Waterpark offers a ton of different water activities (including 13 different slides). The highlight is Daredevil’s Tower, home of the tallest waterslide in North America at 135 feet tall, along with several other slides. There’s also the adventure pool (an over-the-water obstacle course) a massive wave pool, Splash Summit (another group of slides), and a spot to eat ( See our full guide to Thrill Waterpark here .)

Up, Up, and Away on CocoCay

Up, Up, and Away ($) A helium balloon that rises 450 feet into the air, Up, Up, and Away can give you a bird’s eye view of the entire island, your ship, and the stunning waters of the Bahamas. Just note that if there is too much wind, then it won’t fly.

Zip Lines ($) Royal Caribbean is known for having zip lines on their Oasis-class ships. CocoCay extends the trend… literally. You can zig zag across the island, getting a great view and an adrenaline rush at the same time.

Captain Jill’s Galleon (Free) A free water feature for the kids, Captain Jill’s Galleon is in the style of a pirate ship with water cannons and multiple slides. In other words, you’re not getting out of here dry.

Splashaway Bay (Free) Similar to what you’ll find on many Royal Caribbean ships, CocoCay features a Splashaway Bay. The splash park features sprayers, dumping buckets, slides, and more. If your kid is smaller, they will love the area. Older kids will likely want to go to the Thrill Waterpark.

Chill Island/Harbor Beach (Free) If you want some beach time, then these spots are ideal. Packed with umbrellas and chairs, they feature a wide beach and calm blue water. There is also the Chill Grill to grab a bit to eat when you’re hungry. A straw market is also here if you want to do a little local shopping.

Oasis Lagoon on CocoCay

Oasis Lagoon (Free) Lagoon? Maybe it should be called a lake instead. The Oasis Lagoon is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean. It’s surrounded by umbrellas and loungers, making it a great place to spend the day. There’s also a gradual entrance (for those who don’t want to dive in) and a swim-up bar.

Restaurant at Coco Beach Club

Coco Beach Club ($) Coco Beach Club is an exclusive enclave on the island. It features a private entrance, along with an open-air restaurant serving higher-end dishes (filet mignon and lobster) than you’ll find elsewhere on the island. There is also an infinity pool and bar.

The most notable feature, however,  is a group of over-the-water cabanas. Rent one of these and you have your own private floating spot to relax and unwind, complete with waiter service and your own slide into the water. ( See our guide to the Coco Beach Club here .)

South Beach (Free) If you want something a little more active on the beach, then South Beach might be your destination. It features volleyball, basketball, kayaking, paddle boarding. Or you can just hang out on the beach. As with other beaches, there are also plenty of loungers, umbrellas, daybeds, cabanas, and more. We like this spot because it’s a little farther from the ship, so the crowds seem a little smaller.

Where Can I Eat?

You won’t go hungry while on the island. As well, you don’t have to spend any money on food either, unless you want to.

Snack Shack on Royal Caribbean's CocoCay

Skipper’s Grill/Chill Grill (Free) These two spots are complimentary, serving typical beach buffet fare at lunch time. The menu includes chicken, salads, burgers, dogs, and desserts. You can think of it as an extension of the Windjammer buffet on Royal Caribbean ships.

Snack Shack (Free) Dotted around the island are several Snack Shacks. These spots serve up burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and salads. You can also get fries and mozzarella sticks, as well as desserts like funnel cake. The Snack Shacks have longer hours than Skipper’s/Chill Grill and since there are several, it’s never far to a bite to eat. You might also find them handy because there are normally smaller crowds than the large buffets.

Restaurant at Coco Beach Club (Included with Admission) This restaurant is included with paid admission to the Coco Beach Club. Here, you can get your choice of a number of higher-end dishes, complimenting the exclusive atmosphere. Filet mignon, grilled lobster, and garlic tiger prawns are all on the menu, as are things like rum cake and chocolate brownies for dessert.

Captain Jack’s ($) It’s more of a bar than a restaurant, but Captain Jack’s serves some bar food like chicken wings and steak fries. There is a small charge for items from here.

Perfect Day at CocoCay Price List

Royal Caribbean is known for variable pricing of nearly everything on its ships. What you pay depends on your specific sailing. CocoCay is similar. While visiting the island — and many attractions — are free, there is lots that you’ll have to pay for if you want to enjoy it.

We’ve listed some prices below from a recent cruise. What you will pay depends on your specific trip (for instance, we’ve seen prices of $160+ for admission to thrill Waterpark ). Prices will be available when you board the ship or online with your cruise planner.

Note: You can often get discounts for booking early. Also, there are occasional sales. For instance, during Black Friday we saw rates cut essentially in half for many items.

CocoCay Tips & Things to Know

Beaches on CocoCay

The Island Averages Around 11,000 Guests a Day According to Royal Caribbean, CocoCay can handle a lot of people — right now it averages up to 11,000 at the current configuration…. and that number is set to rise. With that sort of size, having one ship in port provides plenty of space without a lot of overcrowding. But the number of guests it averages should tip you off that it means multiple ships visiting the port on many days. On these days, its obviously a bigger crowd, but not overwhelming.

Royal Caribbean Wi-Fi Works on the Island Want to stay connected… or post to Facebook/Instagram to make everyone back home jealous? You can do that on CocoCay. Royal Caribbean’s on-ship wi-fi ( VOOM Internet service ) does extend to the island.

Considering that many people pay for internet service for the entirety of the cruise but normally can’t use it in port, this is a big addition to the wi-fi package.

Drink Packages Work on the Island If you’ve ever bought a drink package on a cruise ship then you likely know one of the big drawbacks is that they don’t work in ports. If you are off the ship, you’ve got to open up your wallet for a drink.

But on CocoCay, there’s a huge benefit — drink packages (alcoholic or otherwise) work while you’re enjoying your time at the beach. There are bars all around the island, so you can walk up to any of them and grab a drink just like you would on the ship.

Oasis Lagoon Is the Largest Freshwater Pool in the Caribbean It wouldn’t be Royal Caribbean if they didn’t lay claim to the biggest and best. In this case, we’re not talking about the cruise ship, but the pool. Oasis Lagoon on CocoCay is the large freshwater pool that’s a centerpiece of the island.

How large? At more than 33,000 square feet, it’s about 3/4 of an acre! That makes it the largest pool in the Caribbean. In other words, you’re unlikely to have a hard time staking out your own little spot in the pool.

Loungers? That’s another thing. We suggest getting there early as lounger space can fill up quickly.

Daredevil's Tower on CocoCay

Daredevil’s Peak Is the Tallest Waterslide in North America On just about any picture of CocoCay, you’ll see the huge structure that looks like a skyscraper, with waterslides wrapping around it. This is Thrill Waterpark, and that tallest slide that goes to the top is called Daredevil’s Peak.

All told, the slide rises 135 feet above the ground (about 14 stories). If that sounds tall to you, then you’re right. In fact, it’s the tallest waterslide in North America. If you don’t do anything else at CocoCay, riding this slide would give you a lifelong memory… and bragging rights.

You Could Need a Reservation for Daredevil’s Peak On a recent trip, we saw something we hadn’t before. With two ships in port that day, staff was taking reservations for riding the tallest waterslide. You had to get a reservation time at the base of the tower. When we visited, all the spots were filled up until 2 p.m. After that time, however, the staff said there are no more reservations needed and you can just walk up to ride like normal.

You Can Spend as Much… Or as Little as You Want On CocoCay you can spend as much money or as little money as you want. If you just want to eat the free food and hang out by the pool or the beach, then good news — that’s completely free to do, and you won’t feel like you’re missing out.

However, if you want to do things like rent a cabana or play at the waterpark, then you’ll have to spend some money. Considering a cabana can costs thousands and we’ve seen admission prices up to $160+ per person to get into the waterpark, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your cash.

Five Different “Zones” on the Island Provide Something For Everyone While the boundaries aren’t hard and fast, the island is divided into separate zones that each have something different going on. First is the Thrill Waterpark. A full-fledged waterpark with more than a dozen slides, wave pool, and more, there is an admission fee. Nearby is the Oasis Lagoon, which includes the free Splashaway Bay for kiddos and the large freshwater pool open to all guests.

Keep going and you’ll find Chill Island — a relaxing spot to hang out in a lounger at the beach. The other two areas are also known for their comfort — South Beach and the Coco Beach Club (including its over-the-water cabanas).

Crowds Are Much Thinner in the Afternoon Crowds not your thing? With one ship at the island, crowds aren’t that big of an issue as everyone has plenty of space. Two ships and it might feel a little more cramped (though certainly not unbearable).

If you want smaller crowds, check things out later in the day. After around 2 p.m. you start to see many people head back to the ship, creating more space around CocoCay.

View of the cruise ship from CocoCay

Want a Great Photo? Head to the Bridge As you arrive onto the shore of CocoCay, hang a left and you’ll pass over a bridge that heads to Chill Island. This bridge doesn’t seem like much, but it’s the best photo opportunity in our opinion. It looks back toward your ship docked at the pier. Here you can get a great photo of your ship, or get a photo of yourself with the ship in the background.

Bring Your SeaPass Card… And Some Cash For the most part you’ll need your SeaPass card when you are at CocoCay. You’ll need it to exit and return to the ship, and you will also use the card to pay for things on the island. The one exception is that there is a straw market with local goods and souvenirs where you will need dollars.

The Island Is Wheelchair Accessible Overall, Royal Caribbean has made the island accessible to those in wheelchairs. For instance, there are beach wheelchairs available for use, concrete paths are easy to navigate, and the Oasis Lagoon is also accessible as well. There is also the tram (see below) to help those who can’t walk long distances get around the island.

A Free Tram Runs Around the Island CocoCay is pretty big — it can take a good 20 minutes to make a loop. And with all the different things to do and see, you can anticipate walking a around quite a bit. If you’re not big on walking, don’t worry. There is a free tram that runs around the island, stopping at the major attractions. It operates continuously throughout the day.

Splashaway Bay on CocoCay

CocoCay Is Great for Babies & Toddlers If your baby or toddler isn’t yet potty-trained, then swimming on the cruise ship can be a challenge. Kids that are still in diapers are prohibited from the pools for health reasons (though there are some kids areas for those in swim diapers). But on CocoCay babies and toddlers have a dedicated area to play with Splashaway Bay. Of course, they can also swim in the ocean. That gives two great options for getting your little one in the spirit of The Bahamas.

Rides Don’t Have Age Limits… But There Are Height/Weight Rules If you have kids, you’ll be happy to know there aren’t age limits on the waterpark rides. Instead, there are only height and weight limits. The minimum for the majority of the rides is 48 inches (four feet tall). This includes the Daredevil’s Peak slide. Some slides do allow riders at 42 inches tall.

The maximum weight limit for most rides is 300 pounds. So as long as someone is above four feet and less than 300 pounds, they will get to enjoy all the water rides.

Several Spots Offer Free Food On the Island Something about the sun and water can take it out of you… and build up an appetite. Luckily there are a number of free spots to eat on CocoCay. This includes Skipper’s Grill, Chill Grill, and multiple Snack Shacks. There is also Captain Jack’s where you can get wings and fries, but it’s priced a la carte and not included for free.

Lockers and Beach Towels Are Available One of the nice things about having an island that’s run by the cruise line is that there is a lot of convenience. On CocoCay there are lockers available at spots all around the island, no matter where you want to visit. There are also beach towel stations (free) so that you don’t have to worry about bringing a towel from the ship.

If you use a beach wheelchair. What do you do with your electric chair? Don’t want it to get stolen.

Honestly, the risk of it being stolen seems low. Everyone on the island is affiliated with the cruise ship. And the electric chairs we’ve experienced are tremendously heavy. If you’re real worried, you could try bringing a bike lock and locking it to something.

Hi there. When looking at booking a cabana at either place on the island, it says$1900+. Is that pet adult?? I’m trying to understand if that’s for the whole day or adult. Thanks much.

That will be for the whole cabana. Depending on the location, either 6 or 8 people can use it.

Is there a place to snorkel for shells that is free that’s close or do I have to find an excursion and pay to go?

Snorkel gear is a rental fee. However, you can bring your own. You can snorkel where you want, but in general there aren’t a ton of shells that we’ve noticed.

Are there any water slides at cocoa cay that are free.

No, the waterpark is a charge.

We’ve heard that the cruise line offers combination water park/zip line passes at a discount rate. Do you know if they’re still doing this?

I don’t remember seeing this during my last visit. However, that was before the cruise suspension. It’s possible that things have changed.

Is there a banana boat available? What water toys are available? And prices? Thanks, Tammy

No banana boat that we say. There are floats and snorkel gear available.

There are 15 of us 8 adults 7 children (2 under5) can we rent two thrill water park cabanas or is it max 12 people

Not entirely sure, but only a certain amount of waterpark passes come with the cabana. So if there are 15 of you, you might have to pay for a few entrance fees out of pocket. Once inside, we can’t imagine them giving you any hassle because you have 15 people in the cabana instead of 12. In fact, with so many kids, it’s unlikely all 15 of you will be at the cabana at one time!.

I would like more info on the cabana prices…

During our visit, they ranged in price depending on where you wanted to be.

Oasis Lagoon Cabana: $499.99 for 8 guests Chill Island Cabana: $499.99 for 8 guests Thrill Waterpark Cabana: 299.99 for 6 guests Full Day Beach Bed Rental: $199.99 for 4 guests

How much to rent paddle boards and kayaks on Cococay?

We will check the latest pricing when we head there again in October.

Can I bring my beach tent to Chill island and use it by the water?

We’re not sure. Tents aren’t mentioned on Royal Caribbean’s prohibited items list, but a large tent could be an issue for space an interfering with other guests. Chill Island has umbrellas that you can use. We’d suggest leaving the tent at home.

Is the Captain Jack a la carte restaurant included in the unlimited dining package as a $35 or so credit as is the a la carte restaurants like Johnny Rockets and Izumi on board the Anthem of the Seas ship?

Not sure. Drink packages work on the island, but we’ve seen nothing official saying that dining packages work. I would plan on paying extra for it and maybe you will get lucky and it’s included in the dining package.

Where is Cococay?

Cococay is located in the Bahamas.  It is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean.  Only Royal Caribbean ships can port at Cococay. Even big ships like Oasis of the Seas , Allure of the Seas , and Icon of the Seas can dock.

Cococay Complete Guide

It is about 140 miles from Miami!

What are the Best Cococay Excursions?

Even though Perfect Day at Cococay is owned by Royal Caribbean, there are still excursions offered at Cococay.

However, you will have to book directly with Royal Caribbean.  You can do this by logging into your Royal Caribbean account or booking these Coco Cay shore excursions through the app.

Cococay Excursions

This image above is what is offered for Coco cay shore excursions when you actually arrive at Perfect Day at Coco Cay.  There are not as many options compared to what you will find online.

If you know you want to experience Perfect Day at Coco Cay,  make sure to book a cruise itinerary that includes this stop!

Let's get started with the best Cococay Excursions.

1. Thrill Water Park

Thrill Water Park is one of the best Caribbean water parks! It has the tallest slide tower in North America and the largest wave pool in the Caribbean.

There are 13 slides and two main pools: Adventure Pool and the Wave Pool.

Admission Cost

The cost of a Thrill Water Park full-day pass depends on what time of year you are going and what ship you are on.  It can range from $55 to over $100.  We went during Spring Break and it was around $100 per person.

Coco Cay Water Park

Thrill water park is designed for older kids and teens.  If your kids are under 40 inches this Coco Cay shore excursion is not for you.  There are other areas on Coco Cay that are free and more fun for little ones.

All of the rides on Devils Tower require you to be 48″.  There are some family rides on the Splash Summit Tower with a height minimum requirement of 40″ if they wear a lifejacket.

Great For Older Kids and Teens

We took a 9, 13, and 15 year old and it was perfect. They loved this Cococay excursion! We played at Thrill Water Park most of the day and then checked out the other free options on the island.

2. Zip Line at Coco Cay

Perfect Day at Cococay has a 1600 ft zipline that soars above the island.  If you like a thrill zip-lining is the perfect Cococay excursion to try out.

We loved watching the participants soar over the Thrill Water Park.  It was really cool!

Admission:  $79 – $139

Prices will be higher during peak season.  You can also buy a combo ticket that includes the zip line and Thrill Water Park.  This ticket is $99 -$179.

Height Requirement : 48 inches

Minimum/Maximum weight: 75lbs to 275lbs

Duration: 45 minutes

3. Swim with Pigs

Have you ever wanted to swim with pigs? It's a thing in the Bahamas! Swimming with pigs is a Cococay excursion that you can book ahead of time.  There is also a booth located on Cococay where you can check to see if they have any open spots for the tour.

Duration: 1.5 hours

Treasure Island

If you decide to do this Cococay excursion you will take a speedboat to Treasure Island.  The island hosts the swimming pigs.  One important thing to know is that the pigs do most of the swimming (not you).  You will enter the water no more than waist deep and feed the pigs.

Prices vary depending on the time of year. This is one of the top Cococay Bahamas excursions.

4. Jet Ski Cococay Royal Caribbean Excursion

A jet ski excursion is a fun Cococay excursion! Prices vary depending on the time of year however one thing that holds true is that the driver pays a higher price and the passenger pays a much lower price.

Bahamas Jet Ski

The jet ski adventure is a tour.  There will be about 10 jet skis following a leader.  The water is so wonderful and calm around the island on most days.

5. Up Up and Away Helium Balloon

The helium balloon is an awesome Cococay excursion to consider.  The balloon actually goes 450 ft in the air.  This is the highest vantage point in all of the Bahamas.

Duration: 20 minutes

Admission : $39-$99 depending on the season

Unfortunately, when we went it was too windy.  The balloon was not operating! Weather conditions determine if this option will be available.

6. Kayak Adventure

A Cococay excursion to consider is a Kayak Adventure.  This is a guided tour.  The guide will teach you how to paddle and will show you sea life as you explore around the island.

Duration : 1.5 Hours

Admission : $43

You can also combine a Kayak Adventure with Snorkel Gear Package for $72.

7. Glass Bottom Boat Tour

The Glass Bottom Boat Tour is a great Cococay excursion.  It is perfect for those of you who do not want to swim in the ocean but still want to see all the coral reefs and tropical fish.

Duration : 1.5 hours

Admission: Starting at $42

8. Scuba Dive with or without Equipment

Scuba Diving is an option for a Cococay Excursion.  This is a one-tank dive in shallow water around the island.  The maximum depth is 40ft.  There are a lot of coral reefs and tropical fish.  There are no shipwrecks or swim-throughs.  It is a pretty basic dive.

To do this excursion you will need to be certified and have completed at least one open dive within the past year.

9. Parasail

When we went to Cococay, parasailing was not an option.  You will have to check and see if this is offered during your stop at Perfect Day.

Duration : 1 Hour Total with 5-6 minutes in the air

10. Sting Ray City

Sting Ray City is probably one of the best Bahamas excursions.  It is amazing to be so close to the sting rays.  You will get to spend 45 full minutes swimming with the sting rays.  The water can be a little chilly in the winter months.

This Cococay excursion is not always available.  You will have to look on your app when you book your cruise to see.

Are you Ready to Book a Coco Cay Excursion?

Hopefully, this helps you create a cruise plan for what Coco Cay excursion you want to do.  There are so many fun options.

If this is your first time cruising picking excursions can be overwhelming. Knowing your options helps narrow down what you are most interested in. Hopefully, you find a Coco Cay activity that you will love!

Most of the Coco Cay excursions have to be booked through the official Royal Caribbean website or App.

Have so much fun!

Oh Wow! This looks like so much fun. I’m already booking.

We want to book another one too!

I had no idea they owned an island! It looks like a really fun place to go for the day though.

It is such a cool place!

This looks exciting! Haven’t been to the Caribbean or on a cruise yes. And I had no idea they owned the island. From those I would bee keen to try Zip line, but only after my sting ray and pig swim 🙂 After I would also fo for kayaking. Such a cool place to spend your day.

It is a really cool place to spend the day!

I knew about Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island – but I had no idea Royal Caribbean had one too! Wouldn’t mind trying some of those activities, especially swimming with pigs, the water park, and scuba diving.

We did the water park and it was really fun!

Wow!! This looks like so much fun! I would definitely love to swim with the pigs and the stingrays. But also the diving experience looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Perfect Day is such a fun place!

How do you book the Stingray tour – it isn’t an option on the Royal Caribbean website?

There is a booth on Perfect Day, where you can book any excursion they have available. Sting Ray City may only be available from the other Bahamas stop.

Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay: The Complete Guide

cococay excursion prices

© Arthur Levine

A number of cruise lines have private islands, most of which are located in the Caribbean. While a few of these tropical oases feature modest splash pads and a couple of small water slides, Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay boasts a full-fledged water park packed with an incredible array of slides—including one of the tallest in the world.

Boasting a price tag of $250 million, the refuge is quite impressive and has proven so popular, the cruise line offers 80 itineraries that include stops there. The water park makes the biggest splash, but there are many other things to experience on the island. Let’s run down what you could expect when you spend a “perfect day” at CocoCay.

Getting to and Around Perfect Day at CocoCay

There’s only one way to visit the Bahamian island, and that’s by booking a cruise aboard Royal Caribbean . There are a number of ships that stop at the getaway, including ones that originate from ports in Florida and elsewhere with itineraries ranging from two to nine nights. The ships dock at the island, so there is no need to transfer using a tender.

CocoCay is large enough to offer a wide variety of activities spread among a number of areas, but small enough to easily get around on foot. Nothing is more than about a 10-minute walk away. For guests that prefer hitching a ride, there is a tram that winds its way around the island.

How to Experience the Water Park Areas

There are three water park areas at CocoCay, all located adjacent to one another. Two of them are complimentary, while the third, which Royal Caribbean refers to as “Thrill Waterpark,” requires an additional fee. The cost varies from $54 to $99 per person depending on the season. Passes can be purchased onboard at the ship’s excursions desk.

Thrill Waterpark has two water slide towers. The one that pierces the skyline is the 135-foot-tall Daredevil’s Tower. At the top of the tower is Daredevil’s Peak , which earned Royal Caribbean bragging rights as the tallest water slide in North America. (While that was true when it opened in 2019, it’s since been eclipsed by a 142-foot-tall slide at DreamWorks Water Park, part of the American Dream complex in New Jersey .) Daredevil’s Peak is undeniably tall, but it may not be as thrilling as you might expect. Because the slide winds around the tower instead of heading straight down, sliders don’t accelerate to especially fast speeds.

If you're looking for bigger thrills, you'll get them on two of the other slides down Daredevil’s Tower. For Dueling Demons , which starts at the 75-foot-level, passengers get into one of two launch chambers . After a countdown, a trap door opens and you'll drop, in a near-vertical position, into the slide. Between the anticipation of the launch and the zippy ride down the slide, Dueling Demons is plenty nerve wracking (in a good way). Likewise, Screeching Serpent will get your adrenaline pumping; the speed slide, which starts at a nearly 90-degree angle, is a straight shot 50 feet down. The tower’s other two slides are fairly mild: Green Mamba , a typical enclosed body slide, includes some twists and turns, while the two open flume slides on Manta Racers only have a 40-inch height requirement and are especially tame.

The park’s other tower, Splash Summit, has three water slides. On the most extreme one, Sling Shot , four passengers board a cloverleaf raft, drop down an enclosed tube, and soar up and down a halfpipe element before being deposited in a splash pool. Splash Speedway is a multi-lane mat racing slide, and Twister sends sliders down an enclosed tube on two-person rafts. Rounding out Thrill Waterpark is a wave pool—billed as the largest in the Caribbean—and an activity pool with swing ropes, lily pad walks, and a climbing wall.

Just outside the park is Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon, two interactive water play areas with tipping buckets, fountains, water cannons, and small slides. Both areas are geared to younger children.

By the way, the water park fun doesn’t end when the ships pull away from CocoCay. Onboard slides and attractions vary by ship. Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas, for example, offers an uphill water coaster, a single rider mat slide, and a FlowRider that generates waves for boogie board surfing.

Top Activities at CocoCay

Thrill Waterpark notwithstanding, it should be noted that most of the activities (including most of the food served) at CocoCay are complimentary. Cruise line passengers who don’t want to test their mettle on the wacky slides can still enjoy the island without spending an extra dime. There are, however, a couple of intriguing extra-charge attractions they might want to consider.

If the summit of Daredevil’s Tower doesn't get you high enough, you could soar some 450 feet above CocoCay aboard Up, Up, and Away , a tethered helium balloon. The 10-minute experience offers commanding views of the island, the docked cruise ship, and the Bahamian waters. The ride is gentle and should be accessible and enjoyable for nearly everyone, except those who have a crippling fear of heights or vertigo. Fees, which vary seasonally, are approximately $39 for adults and $24 for children 4 to 12.

Guests can also get a bird’s-eye view of CocoCay by giving its zip line a whirl. The 1,600-foot course traverses the water park and the island’s harbor. Prices are about $79.

Other upcharge excursion activities at CocoCay include wave jet tours on Sea-Doo personal boats as either a driver or passenger, parasailing, reef snorkeling, kayaking, a glass-bottom boat tour, and an opportunity to hop into the water with swimming pigs .

Spend a Perfect Day by (and in) the Water

There are plenty of places throughout the island to stake out a lounge chair and enjoy the water. Wrapping around the eastern side of CocoCay is the largest beach, Chill Island, which includes a series of coves with breakers to keep the surf from anything more than “chill.” Other places to catch some rays and dips into the ocean are Harbor Beach and South Beach.

For those who would prefer to avoid salt water, Oasis Lagoon offers an enormous pool—the largest in the Caribbean, according to the cruise line—with a large swim-up bar.

The chairs and umbrellas are complimentary, but guests could opt to rent a floating beach mat, a beach bed, or, for beaucoup bucks, a cabana that accommodates either six or eight people. For even more pampering, the island offers Coco Beach Club. To access the exclusive area, visitors have to rent either a beach or an overwater cabana that accommodates eight, with prices starting at $999. Coco Beach Club includes an infinity pool, a private clubhouse, and dining with more upscale fare than is offered at the island’s other restaurants.

Where to Eat, Drink, and Shop

There are four dining locations around the island that serve up complimentary fare—including sandwiches, BBQ, and salads—sourced and prepared by the ship's culinary crew. The bars and dining spots at CocoCay honor Royal Caribbean’s beverage packages. Note that the eateries only serve lunch (breakfast and dinner are available on the ship).

There are a surprising number of shops at the island’s Straw Market and other locations. Items include CocoCay-branded T-shirts, hats, and other merchandise, as well as Bahamian crafts and beach gear.

Tips for Perfect Day at CocoCay

  • The lines for the major slides at Thrill Waterpark, especially Daredevil’s Peak, can get long; try to avoid the mid-morning crowds by disembarking as soon as the ship's crew allows you to, typically at 9 a.m.
  • There aren’t a ton of hammocks on the island, but there are a few, and there is no additional charge to use them. You can find some behind the Snorkel Shack on Chill Island as well as behind Oasis Lagoon at Chill Beach.
  • Chill Beach is also where you can find a volleyball court, cornhole, and other games. There are also a bunch of beanbag chairs for lounging.
  • Be sure to bring footwear. Some of the beach sand is coarse and contains small rocks and shells. There are bins to stow shoes at the water slides.
  • Some of the the shops only accept cash, so you might want to bring money.
  • If you are planning to experience the zip line, bring closed-toe shoes. They are required to ride.
  • Consider purchasing Thrill Waterpark passes and other extra-charge activities in advance. You might be able to score deals prior to your cruise. Check to see if Royal Caribbean has any special offers, including discounted packages that combine water park passes with other on-island activities such as its zip line or helium balloon experience.

Everything You Should Know About Royal Caribbean's Private Island, Perfect Day at CocoCay

Here’s what you need to know about Perfect Day at CocoCay before your next Royal Caribbean voyage.

cococay excursion prices

Getting There

Things to do on perfect day at cococay, dining on perfect day at cococay, family-friendly activities, adults-only activities, tips for visiting.

Courtesy of Royal Caribbean

Private islands aren't only for billionaires — they're for cruise lines, too. Many Royal Caribbean cruises include a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas. Spanning 125 acres, Perfect Day at CocoCay has a little bit of everything for everyone, whether you're seeking some laid-back beach time, family fun at a water park, or a Vegas-style pool party.

The island underwent a $250 million overhaul in 2019, and its list of attractions includes the tallest waterslide in North America (one of 13 waterslides in total), overwater cabanas, a 1,600-foot zip line, and an adults-only zone. The renovation also added a two-ship-capacity pier to the island, so guests can simply walk off their ship and onto the island rather than take a tender.

If you want to book excursions or private cabanas for Perfect Day at CocoCay, do so as early as possible. Excursions are bookable online before your cruise's departure — although Royal Caribbean tends to periodically unlock excursions rather than open all bookings at once. Check around six months prior to departure to see what's available. Anything that's left at the time of departure can be booked onboard.

Ready to plan your adventure at Perfect Day at CocoCay? I recently visited during a sailing on the new Icon of the Seas , so here's everything you need to know about Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean's fleet is enormous, with a whopping 26 ships — and counting. Many of them spend the entire year in the Caribbean, and that means you can visit Perfect Day at CocoCay any month of the year. Of course, not every single sailing calls at this port, so be sure to check the itinerary before booking.

Once your ship pulls alongside the pier at Perfect Day at CocoCay, you'll have anywhere from eight to 10 hours to explore the island. Depending on the day, your ship might be the only one at the pier, or you might be sharing it with another Royal vessel. In the latter case, there might be more than 10,000 guests on the island at once.

After you make your way down the pier, you're greeted by island staff, who can guide you to the attractions. At this point, you can hop on a free tram to bring you to some of the more distant areas, like the adults-only Hideaway Beach or the family-friendly Breezy Bay at Chill Island. But the whole island is also walkable, and it takes about 15 minutes to get from one end to the other. Beach-access wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, too — ask a crew member to point you in the right direction.

The only things you need to bring onto Perfect Day at CocoCay are your SeaPass Card and a towel — towels are handed out onboard before heading to the island unless you've booked a cabana, where towels are provided. There are a few towel-swapping stations on the island if you need a fresh one.

While general admission to Perfect Day at CocoCay is free, certain zones and attractions do require a fee. As such, I'll be sharing things to do on the island in two sections: complimentary activities and ones that come at an extra cost.

Free Things to Do

For zero charge, guests have access to Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill's Galleon (two splash pads for kids); Oasis Lagoon (the Caribbean's largest freshwater pool, spanning three-quarters of an acre); and the beaches Breezy Bay at Chill Island and South Beach (loungers are free, but daybeds and cabanas must be rented for a fee).

Options Available for a Fee

For an extra charge, the fun really kicks in. Thrill Waterpark, with 13 slides and a wave pool; the 1,600-foot zip line; and Up, Up, and Away (a helium balloon ride) all cost extra. You must also pay to enter the exclusive Coco Beach Club and Hideaway Beach zones — the former is where you'll find the overwater cabanas, while the latter is the adults-only beach club. Other extra activities include snorkel and kayak rentals, as well as formal excursions, such as jet skiing and scuba diving.

Dining is included at Skipper's Grill, Chill Grill, and Snack Shacks on Perfect Day at CocoCay; here, you can find burgers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and even soft-serve ice cream. Then there's the restaurant Captain Jack’s, which is known for its chicken wings, where you have to pay per dish. If you pay to enter Coco Beach Club, your admission includes dining at a Mediterranean restaurant. Similarly, Hideaway Beach admission covers food at its Snack Shack and Slice of Paradise pizza bar.

The food at Hideaway Beach was a highlight of my afternoon ashore. At the Snack Shack, the ceviche was a stunner, with a touch of spiciness that was perfect with a sweet piña colada. And the mozzarella sticks hit the spot, too. At Slice of Paradise, I was impressed that the menu included Bahamian seafood escabeche pizza, a nod to a favorite local dish.

Royal Caribbean is a family-friendly cruise line , and pretty much all of Perfect Day at CocoCay is family-friendly — except for Hideaway Beach, which is a designated adults-only zone.

If your kids are looking for some action, there's plenty to keep them entertained. Toddlers might enjoy the splash pads at Captain Jill's Galleon or Splashaway Bay, while older kids might want to head straight for Thrill Waterpark with towering waterslides and a wave pool. Then there are the "dry" activities like the 1,600-foot zip line and the helium-filled balloon ride.

For a more relaxing island day, consider visiting one of the three family-friendly beaches, where you'll find free loungers and free beach strollers on a first-come, first-served basis. If you'd prefer a pool, Oasis Lagoon has a zero-entry cove. And if you'd like to maximize privacy, consider booking a cabana for the whole family. The Coco Beach overwater cabanas are the star of the show, each with a two-person overwater hammock, a slide into the sea, a private shower, and concierge service.

Interestingly, there's no dedicated daycare or kids club on the island, so sorry parents — you'll have to bring your kids with you. That said, Adventure Ocean will remain open onboard your ship, so you can drop off the kids if you want to slip out to Hideaway Beach for a few hours.

As I visited Perfect Day at CocoCay without kids, I made a beeline for Hideaway Beach, the adults-only area of the island. Admission comes at a cost — anywhere from $39 to $89, depending on the day. But if you're looking for a Vegas-style pool party — with club music blasting throughout the majority of the horseshoe-shaped cove — this is where you'll find it. There's a DJ in the middle of the lagoon-style pool, where you'll find a swim-up bar, too. (That's just one of four bars here, mind you.) Island staff were even walking around with Champagne water guns, shooting right into the mouths of thirsty guests. Find a little more peace over on the far side of the beach, where the cabanas with semi-private pools are located. The music drifts over here, but no speakers are pumping it in. I spent the majority of my afternoon in a hammock on this calmer side of the beach.

  • Use the app to book activities and excursions, like a ride down the zip line and entrance to the beach clubs and water park.
  • Speaking of the zip line, closed-toe shoes are a requirement, so bring a pair ashore if you plan on riding it.
  • The crowds are usually largest in the morning, as many guests head back to the ship in the afternoon. Consider heading ashore later in the day for less congestion.
  • If you've paid for Wi-Fi on the ship, you'll also have access to Wi-Fi on the island. Similarly, drink packages extend to all the bars on Perfect Day at CocoCay.
  • Don't forget to bring your towel back onboard. If you don't return your towel, you'll be charged $25.
  • The slides do have height requirements and weight limits. Minimum height requirements are usually 42 or 48 inches tall, while maximum weight limits top out at 300 pounds per person.
  • If you plan on shopping at the straw market, bring some cash — vendors can't charge purchases to your SeaPass.
  • Lockers and showers are available on the island, though you can return to the ship and come back ashore as many times as you want.

An aerialdrone view of Royal Caribbeans Perfect Day at Cococay private island after the renovation with the helium air balloon ride and daredevil’s peak are visible

CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. The island is exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests.

In other words, only Royal Caribbean cruise ships can visit.

The island functions like any other port your cruise ship visits. After your ship docks, you can get off and explore the island at no cost.

Around the 125 acres of the island, you’ll find plenty of attractions, restaurants, beaches, and pools.

There’s so much on the island that you can’t do everything in one visit.

You might be wondering what makes CocoCay so special.

In a way, the island is an extension of Royal Caribbean’s ships. You can use your drink package, Voom internet service, and SeaPass card at various attractions, restaurants, and pools.

The island is run by Royal Caribbean staff. That means you can expect the same great level of service you’re used to on their ships.

And after a $250 million renovation, the island features several exclusive attractions and thrills that make it one of Royal’s most popular stops.

  • Several new dining options

3. What Should You Bring to Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Because Royal Caribbean operates CocoCay, you don’t need to bring many things off the boat.

The island functions like a private resort, with many essential amenities you’ll need throughout the day.

Here’s what you should bring to Perfect Day at CocoCay:

  • Seapass card
  • Beach towels
  • Cash (for tips and the artisan market)
  • Closed-toed shoes (required for the zip line)
  • Bug repellant
  • Baby supplies

5. You Can Use the Royal Caribbean Drink Package at CocoCay

Guests at Royal Caribbean’s private island enjoying alcoholic beverages purcahsed with the Deluxe drink pacakge

One of the biggest drawbacks of purchasing a drink package is that they don’t work in the port. Fortunately, you can use the Royal Caribbean beverage package at CocoCay.

The drink package works the same at CocoCay as on the cruise ship.

Simply swipe your card when you purchase a drink, and your drink plan pays for the beverage.

6. You Can Access Voom Internet at CocoCay

If you purchase a Wi-Fi plan, you can use Royal Caribbean’s Voom internet at Perfect Day at CocoCay .

With all the amenities on the island, you might be too busy to check your emails or browse social media. But the Internet service is there if you need to connect.

7. Perfect Day at CocoCay Shore Excursions

8. Perfect Day at CocoCay Restaurants

cococay excursion prices

One of the most significant improvements in the updated CocoCay is the expanded selection of restaurants and food options.

In the past, you wouldn’t find much more than hot dogs and hamburgers.

Chill Grill, Skipper’s Grill, and Snack Shacks offer complimentary dining for all guests, while The Coco Beach Club has its restaurant included with the Beach Club fare.

For an exclusive dining experience, visit Captain Jack’s. The restaurant features à la carte menu at additional cost.

Chill Grill and Skippers Grille are famous for their complementary BBQ chicken and Caribbean-style food. They also serve salads, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, desserts, and soft-serve ice cream.

They are often considered an extension of the Windjammer, with a great food selection.

There are several Snack Shaks located around the island. Their menu features finger foods, primarily hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, desserts, and salads.

We always visit at least one Snack Shack for excellent funnel cake.

The Coco Beach Club has a private restaurant included in the admission fare. The restaurant features a higher-end food selection to compliment the club’s exclusivity. The menu features Filet mignon, grilled lobster, garlic tiger prawns, and chocolate brownies for dessert.

Head over to Captain Jack’s for a more secluded and quieter experience. Captain Jack’s is more of a bar than a restaurant with traditional bar foods. Think chicken wings and steak fries.

The restaurant has an à la carte menu. In other words, the food at Captain Jack’s has an added fee.

9. Free Things to Do at Perfect Day at CocoCay

If you don’t want to spend your day feeling nickeled and dimed at Perfect Day, there are plenty of free activities around the island.

Free things to do at Perfect Day at CocoCay include:

  • Tram around the island and back to the ship
  • Sun loungers, umbrellas, and hammocks (excluding The Coco Beach Club)
  • Oasis Lagoon pool
  • Chill Island, South Beach, and Harbor Bay beaches
  • Beach access wheelchairs
  • Splashaway Bay (children’s water park)
  • Captain Jill’s Galleon (children’s water park at Arrival’s Plaza)
  • South Beach Sports Court
  • Some fitness classes on the beach
  • Food and drinks at Chill Grill, Skipper’s Grill, and the Snack Shacks
  • Airbrush tattoos

Things to do at Perfect Day at CocoCay

10. thrill waterpark.

Thrill Waterpark splashpad with buckets sprinklers cannons waterslides daredevils peak splash mountain and more

CocoCay’s Thrill Waterpark is a massive attraction boasting 13 waterslides, the largest Wave Pool in the Caribbean, Adventure Pool, and a Snack Shack.

Entry to the waterpark is paid, with admission priced between $50 to $100 per person. Half-day admission is available from $39 to $74, and kids under three go free.

The entrance fee constantly fluctuates, making it possible to save money if you keep an eye on prices. If you’re looking for a deal, it’s best to keep an eye on the costs and purchase your admission before your cruise begins.

When you pre-book admission to the Thrill Waterpark, you simply swipe your card for entry. Once you enter, you’re provided a wristband so you may leave and re-enter as often as you like.

With the admission fee, you get unlimited access to the waterpark and free use of beach chairs. Private cabanas are available for rent at $299 to $569.

In our opinion, the cabanas are not worth the price unless you are visiting with a large group.

If you want to experience more of Perfect Day, you can pay the addon fee for the Zip Line and Helium Balloon ride.

11. Daredevil’s Peak Waterslide

The 35 foot tall Daredevils Peak the tallest waterslide in North America

You can spot the bright red tower from the ship that holds Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America.

Daredevil’s peak is 135 feet high. That’s ten feet taller than Universal’s Volcano Bay in Orlando and 15 feet taller than Disney World’s Blizzard Beach.

The ride should be on every adrenaline junkie’s bucket list. You feel the excitement build as you climb 200 steps before descending the ultimate white-knuckle ride.

The ride isn’t for the faint of heart. But if you visit Thrill Waterpark, it’s an experience you can’t miss.

Daredevil’s Peak has a minimum height of 48 inches and a maximum weight of 300 pounds.

12. Wave Pool

Thrill Waterpark boasts the largest wave pool in the Caribbean. When the countdown hits zero, simulated waves sweep through the pool.

The turbulent surf provides fun for all ages.

13. Zip Line

Guests on the 1,600 foot long zip line coursethat crisscrosses Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island destination in The Bahamas

The Zip Line excursion at CocoCay consists of three zip lines totaling 1600 feet. The ride provides quite the adventure as you soar around the island and over Harbor Beach.

Riders must weigh between 50 and 300 pounds to participate in the excursion. And there’s a cost of $79 to $139 to ride.

The price of the zip line is high, but we recommend trying it at least once for the adrenaline rush and unparalleled views of the island.

14. Adventure Pool

cococay excursion prices

Adventure Pool provides a more laid-back obstacle course with ropes and bounces pads. The pool is a fun stop for kids to bounce, hop, and swing as they make their way to the other side.

15. Up, Up and Away Helium Balloon

cococay excursion prices

The helium balloon ride provides an incredible view of the island and the surrounding blue ocean. The tethered ride gently rises 450 feet in the air before descending back down.

The basket carries 30 passengers and is a highly recommended activity. The ride is so peaceful and gentle that even those afraid of heights feel an overwhelming sense of calm at the top.

Tickets for Up, Up and Away are between $39 to $99 for those aged 13+ and $24 to $64 for children aged 4-12.

You can’t pre-register a time slot. It’s best to arrive early to guarantee your spot and avoid long lineups.

Additionally, the ride only runs when the weather conditions are favorable. The ride may close for guest safety if high winds or storms are approaching.

16. Splash Summit

Splash Summit in Thrill Waterpark with six multi rider slides including The Slingshot The Twister and the four lane Splash Speedway racing slides

Splash Summit offers six twisting waterslides at various heights and steepness. The water slides include The Twister, The Slingshot, and four splash Speedway Racers.

It’s one of the most popular attractions at CocoCay, so be sure to arrive early for the shortest lines.

17. The Twister

The Twister is a 60-foot tall waterslide navigated on a two-person raft. Grab your best friend and do the climb before plunging down the winding tube slide

Restrictions: 42 inches minimum height.

Maximum Weight: 300 pounds.

18. The Slingshot Waterslide

The Slingshot is a four-person raft waterslide that rides up a wall to give riders a zero gravity sensation.

The four-person raft allows sharing the experience with other group members.

Restrictions: 48 inches minimum or 42 inches with swim vest and supervising adult companion.

Weight: 300 pounds per person or 550 pounds total raft weight.

19. Splash Speedway Racers

Race your friends down the 40-foot-high Splash Speedway Racers.

Restrictions: 48 inches minimum or 42 inches with swim vest and supervising adult companion

Maximum Weight: 300 pounds per person or 550 pounds total raft weight.

20. Dueling Demons Waterslides

Dueling Demons are two drop slides that launch riders from a height of 75 ft. Standing in a verticle position, get ready for an exhilarating ride as a trap door releases you down the twists and turns.

Restrictions: 48 inches minimum height

Weight: 300 pounds maximum

21. Screeching Serpent Waterslide

Screeching Serpent is another trap door slide with a platform height of 50 ft.

22. Green Mamba Waterslide

Green Mamba is full of twists and turns. It’s not as steep as the verticle slides, but it provides quite a rush.

23. Manta Raycers Waterslides

Two side-by-side Manta Raycers provide a race to the bottom. These twin slides have a platform height of 25 ft.

24. Splashaway Bay

Splashaway Bay is the kid’s splash pad located near the island entrance. The splash park is similar to the ones found on Royal Caribbean ships and is free for guests.

The splash pad features sprayers, dumping buckets, slides, fountains, and more.

It’s best suited for younger childer, as older kids and teens would much prefer to spend the day at Thrill Waterpark.

25. Captain Jill’s Galleon

cococay excursion prices

Next to Splashaway Bay is the pirate ship named Captain Jill’s Galleon. Kids can climb and explore the mock pirate ship, using water cannons to return cannon fire and the slides for a quick escape.

26. Oasis Lagoon

Perfect Day at CocoCay Oasis Lagoon is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean complete with three distinct coves private cabanas and a swim up bar

Ocean Lagoon is the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool. It’s located at the heart of CocoCay and covers 33,175 square feet.

It’s difficult to overstate the size of this massive pool.

But to give you an idea, the pool holds 800,000 gallons of freshwater and took eight days to fill. The pool has an official capacity of 1,750 people.

Throughout the pool are palm tree-covered islands and a swim-up bar.

The islands minimize crowding by creating smaller sections for people to gather.

Seats by the swim-up bar go fast, but you can swim up and order a drink without finding a chair.

The pool is surrounded by umbrellas, hammocks, and loungers that are free to use.

27. Chill Island

cococay excursion prices

Chill Island is another complimentary area at Perfect Day. You’ll find a watersports marina, private cabanas, and a beautiful white sand beach.

You can rent snorkel and diving equipment from the Snorkel Shack or bring your equipment to explore coral reefs off the shore.

Jet skis and paddle boards are also available for rent.

Nearby is the Chill Grill, offering complimentary Caribbean-style food. We highly recommend the BBQ chicken!

As the sun reaches its peak, you can relax in the shade of a private cabana or rented beach lounger for two. With the rentals, you’ll have access to a personal assistant.

Insider Tip

Chill Island and South Beach are the two most popular beaches on the island. But Chill Beach is located closer to the ship. You should visit Chill Island over South Beach if mobility is an issue.

28. South Beach

Visitors enjoying a day at South Beach CocoCay with beach chairs and colorful umbrellas

South Beach is another white sand beach for cruisers to relax and soak up the sun.

There’s a more significant focus on sports and active living with volleyball, basketball courts, paddleboarding, zorbing, and fitness classes (some are free).

If you prefer to relax in the Caribbean sun, there are plenty of complimentary loungers, umbrellas, and beach chairs.

Guests enjoying a drink at the floating bar at South Beach on CocoCay

And don’t miss the floating bar.

It’s more of a walk-up bar than a swim-up bar. Climb up the ladder and enjoy drinks on the floating tiki bar.

The bar is relatively small, and they don’t have much selection. You can expect beers and basic mixed drinks.

You can also rent a glass bottom kayak and explore the ocean around CocoCay.

South Beach is one of the least crowded spots on the island. It’s a long walk from the pier and nestled away behind trees. If you’re looking for a quiet place to spend the day, visit South Beach.

29. Coco Beach Club

cococay excursion prices

Coco Beach Club is an exclusive beach area on the island. There’s an additional fee to access the club.

Admission to the club is between $50 – $99 per adult and $34 – $70 per child aged 4 to 11. Children three years old receive free admission.

The admission fee includes access to the beach, clubhouse, loungers, umbrellas, infinity pool, and the Coco Beach Club restaurant.

The club is on the island’s far side, opposite Arrivals plaza.

But you don’t need to worry about the long walk.

CocoCay has a dedicated tram to carry visitors to Coco Beach Club.

Private floating overwater cabanas available for rent at the Coco Beach Club

Private floating cabanas are available for rent if you’re looking for a more exclusive space. Floating cabana rentals start at $999 to $1599.

Up to 8 people can rent an overwater cabana. The cabanas come with an overwater hammock, shower, and a slide that drops you into the sea.

30. Artisan Market

The Artisan Market is the perfect stop to pick up a souvenir and do a little shopping.

Make sure you bring cash, as your sea pass card won’t work at the market. The Artisan Market is the only spot at CocoCay that is cash-only .

Perfect Day at CocoCay Tips and Tricks

31. free things to do at cococay.

While you can pay for several exciting shore excursions, there’s plenty to do for free around the island, including:

  • Splashaway Bay
  • Captain Jill Galleon
  • Skipper’s Grill
  • Chill Grill
  • Snack Shack
  • Oasis Lagoon
  • Beach chairs, loungers, hammocks, and umbrellas
  • Chill Island
  • South Beach
  • Sport’s courts
  • Freshwater showers
  • Tram service
  • Water and juices

32. The Best Times for Low Crowds at Thrill Waterpark

cococay excursion prices

Thrill waterpark is one of the most popular attractions at CocoCay. You can expect it to be a bit busy with wait times for the water slides.

Though the lines are manageable and move pretty quickly, you may not want to spend your day waiting for your turn down the slide.

The best times for low crowds at Thrill Waterpark are:

  • Before 11:00 am
  • After 2:30 pm

33. There are Two Free Splash Pads

Thrill Waterpark provides heartstopping fun for the whole family. But if you want to save money, there are two free splash pads for kids.

Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon are located near the entrance, next to Arrival’s Plaza.

The complementary splash pads are great for families with younger kids. Both attractions feature water cannons, small slides, rope climbs, and more.

And there’s plenty of seating within eyesight for adults to supervise.

34. Save Money by Purchasing the Thrill Waterpark in Advance

If you want to visit Thrill Waterpark, you will save money by purchasing your admission before the cruise.

You can purchase tickets to the water park from your Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner. The tickets frequently go on sale before the cruise.

Once you’re on the ship or the island, be prepared to pay inflated prices for those same tickets.

If you want to save money, purchase your tickets before embarking on your cruise.

35. There is a Free Tram Service Around the Island

Perfect Day at CocoCay is a massive private island. If you’re not keen on walking under the hot Caribbean sun, keep an eye out for the complimentary tram service.

Walking down the pier, you’ll find a complimentary tram service that travels around the entire island.

The solar-powered trams make it easy to navigate the large island paradise.

Tram runs every 15 minutes with stops at:

  • Arrivals Plaza near Thrill Waterpark
  • Coco Beach Club (there’s also a dedicated tram to the club during peak hours)

36. Create Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

The complimentary restaurants offer soft service ice cream and chocolate chip cookies.

You can make your own DIY cookie ice cream sandwiches by dispensing soft serve between two cookies.

37. The Island is Home to Wildlife

Perfect Day at CocoCay is home to more than just white sand beaches and cruise passengers.

Keep your eye out for wild chickens, iguanas, and seagulls that inhabit the private island.

38. The Chairs and Umbrellas are Free to Use

Complimentary umbrella and chairs on Chill Island

There are thousands of beach chairs and umbrellas around the island.

And they’re all free to use.

One of the best improvements from Royal Caribbean’s CocoCay renovation is a large amount of seating and umbrellas to provide shade.

You no longer need to hurry to the beach to save a spot. You’ll always be able to find a beach chair or lounger, even during the busiest times of the day.

39. You can Use Your SeaPass Card Almost Everywhere

Perhaps the biggest benefit to visiting a private island is that it acts as an extension of the cruise line. You can expect the same service, food, atmosphere, and amenities you’d find on the ship.

And just like on the ship, you can use your seapass card to make purchases around the island.

Guests can use their seapass cards to purchase Thrill Waterpark and Coco Beach Club admission, book shore excursions, and buy souvenirs and drinks.

The Artisan Market is the one place where they won’t accept your seapass card. So bring cash if you’re planning to shop there.

40. There’s No Breakfast on CocoCay

I recommend getting off the ship early in the morning to experience the island before it gets crowded.

But make sure you grab breakfast on the ship, as you won’t find breakfast on CocoCay.

The restaurants on the island don’t open until lunchtime. However, you will find coffee and pastries at the Coco Beach Club.

41. Book a Thrill Waterpark Cabana if Your Family is Going

Booking a cabana is not worth the high cost to most people.

However, booking a cabana can make sense if you’re a family of four to six visiting Thrill Waterpark.

Cabana purchases come with free admission to the waterpark for up to six guests. The free admission alone makes it worth the cost. It’s usually cheaper to purchase a cabana than six admission passes.

But there are other reasons to book a cabana.

A cabana makes for a great meeting spot if you’re traveling with small kids. The bright-colored cabana is easier for your kids to see among the sea of beach chairs, so they’re less likely to get lost.

And the cabana canopy provides excellent shade under the Caribbean sun.

It also makes for a great napping spot (something my dad can attest to.)

42. The Island Has a Year-Round Warm Climate

People having fun with colorful kayaks on the island Cococay, the private island post that’s owned by the Royal Caribbean cruise line

Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay is sunny year-round, with temperatures ranging between 72°F in January to 90°F in July.

The cool ocean breeze makes it comfortable for guests, even in the summer heat. And the overnight lows rarely drop below 70°F, allowing the water temperature to remain at a comfortable 72-84°F, depending on the season.

There’s not much rainfall on the island. However, rainfall is heavier during the summer months, particularly if there’s a nearby tropical storm.

Hurricanes rarely affect the Bahamas. And it’s unlikely a Hurricane would impact your cruise vacation. Though hurricane season runs June through November, cruise lines provide advance notice on itinerary changes.

43. You Can Get Towels if You Forget to Bring Your Own

It’s a common strategy to get towels on the boat and bring them with you to CocoCay. Following this strategy, you’ll need to bring the towels back to the ship. Otherwise, the cruise line may charge a fee.

If you prefer to avoid the hassle or don’t want to stay with the same towel all day, you can get fresh beach towels from towel stations around the island.

The towel stations are my preferred choice. If I swim multiple times during the day, I prefer to use a fresh towel.

And if you bought admission to Coco Beach Club, they have their own branded towels for guests.

44. You Can Snorkel at CocoCay

Woman snorkeling at CocoCays artificial reef

CocoCay offers snorkeling at an artificial reef located near Chill Island. The manmade reefs consist of an artificial plane crash and shipwrecks.

You can bring your own snorkeling gear or rent free from the Snorkle Shack.

The reef is close to the shore (only 20 or 30 yards out), and lifeguards are on hand for safety. The reef is home to fish, stingrays, jellyfish, and sea turtles.

For clear waters and the best viewing conditions, it’s best to snorkel in the morning as the water can get cloudy during the afternoon.

45. You Can’t Wear a Rash Guard on the Slides

You might be surprised that the lifeguards at Thrill Waterpark have a strict policy against rash guards while going down the slides.

That’s because rash guards or shirts create drag that could bring you to a stop on the slide.

If you get to the platform with a rash guard, you’ll have to hold onto it while on the ride and put it back on at the bottom.

46. Thrill Waterpark Height and Weight Restrictions

Before you purchase your admission passes, it’s a good idea to look at the height and weight restrictions of the rides.

47. There are Free Lockers to Store Your Belongings

One of the biggest worries about visiting the beach or waterpark is the safety of your belongings. Fortunately, Royal Caribbean provides free lockers to store your valuables.

Lockers are located around the island at:

  • The entrance of Thrill Waterpark
  • By the Zip Lines
  • Near the Helium Ballon ride

48. Do the Balloon Ride Early in the Day

Up, Up & Away Helium Balloon Ride is one of the most popular attractions at CocoCay. With no option to pre-book time slots, it’s common to find long lineups.

For the shortest lineups, visit the Balloon Ride early in the morning.

Additionally, the winds are calmest during the morning hours. If you wait until the afternoon, the ride may close if winds pick up.

Our strategy is to get off the boat early in the morning and make our way to the balloon ride. It’s our favorite attraction, so we ensure we can do it immediately. Afterward, we can head off to explore the rest of the island.

49. Try the Coco Loco

Skippers Grill Complimentary restaurant with Up, Up and Away Helium Balloon ride in the background

Coco Loco is the official drink of Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The fruity frozen drink is perfect for staying cool during the afternoon. The beverage comes with rum, but there’s a non-alcoholic version for kids.

And as the name suggests, the drink is fantastic!

50. CocoCay Provides Complimentary Life Jackets

CocoCay provides complimentary life jackets for use around the island. If your child doesn’t know how to swim or isn’t a strong swimmer, you can borrow a life jacket from the pool attendant for free.

51. Drones are NOT Allowed

If you’re looking to capture an aerial view of the island, you’ll have to think again. Drones are not allowed at CocoCay .

Royal Caribbean prohibits the use of drones on the island. You can bring a drone on the ship to use another port of call. But, Royal Caribbean does not allow drones to be used on the vessel or at their private destinations, CocoCay and Labadee, Haiti.

Sights of Elektrostal: the history of the city, what to see, photos and reviews

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

Elektrostal is a fairly large industrial city, which is located near the Vokhonka River and almost 40-50 km from the eastern part of Moscow. There are a lot of powerful factories here, where many residents of Elektrostal work. They are perfectly combined with the most beautiful green boulevards, streets and parks, bright lawns and flower beds that adorn almost the entire town. It is picturesque due to amazing reservoirs and forests. It is worth learning more about the main attractions of Elektrostal, photos of which are in the article.

sights g elektrostal

The city was founded in 1916 thanks to the construction of a metallurgical plant. Previously, this place was the natural boundary of Calm. To start construction, the labor of local peasants was used. In the middle of 1925 herebuilt the first railway line that connected Elektrostal with Moscow. After the onset of 1938, the village turned into a separate city.

It is noteworthy that during the Great Patriotic War, the Electrostal plants produced ammunition that was needed for victory. In particular, it is worth noting the production of the legendary Katyushas.

A new stage for the factories of the city began after the invention of atomic weapons. The local plant was on the list of the main production facilities of the nuclear industry. This led to the fact that in 1954 the production of fuel was launched, which was used for the operation of nuclear power plants.

In 1963, the cultural center "October" was built, and this was done by the masters of the Novo-Kramatorsky plant, named after Stalin. It featured a spacious auditorium that could seat more than 850 people, as well as a unique revolving stage for actors to change scenery in seconds.

At different times, eminent creative groups performed in this cultural center, as well as the Beryozka ensemble, famous at that time. It is noteworthy that even in our time the cultural center is actively functioning, and the square in front of it is considered the most beautiful place in Elektrostal with fountains operating in the summer. In mid-2013, it received the status of a city of labor and military glory.

There are many numerous monuments in the city that tell about the history of this amazing place: a monument to Nikolai Vtorov -the founder of the famous plant "Elektrostal" near the House of Culture, a monument to Tevosyan - the chief engineer, monuments to M. Gorky and K. Marx, a sculpture "Steelworker", a monument to Korneev - Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as a memorial and a monument to soldiers who died in Afghanistan and on North Caucasus.

This is a fairly large and old factory in the city that specializes in the production of fuel for local gas stations. The plant is part of the structure of the company FC "TVEL" of the state corporation "Rosatom". The General Director of the enterprise is O. L. Sedelnikov.

This plant produces nuclear fuel, which is used by many nuclear power plants, transport power plants and research reactors, not only in Russia, but also in other European countries. The company has quality certificates OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.

The museum of the plant presents its history, shows old photographs of the streets of the city, there are achievements of workers, as well as photos of significant people, there are many of the most interesting models produced at the machine-building plant. It also stores presentations showing the principles of the enterprise.

This temple - a landmark of Elektrostal - is a single-dome centric church, which is made in the style of Byzantine times. It was erected in the 20th century, in the immediate vicinity of St. Andrew's Church. The temple was designed by T. V. Trubnikov and V. A. Drozdov, according to the developments of which the iconostasis and interior were exactly designed.

The church plays the role of a baptismal church and belongs to the Moscow diocese. The main shrines of the church are the most ancient and valuable icons of Nikandor Gorodnoyezersky and the Great Martyr Panteleimon. In addition, particles of the relics of saints are kept here. Divine services are held in the temple only during religious holidays.

the main attractions of the electric steel

The local park - a landmark of Elektrostal is an ideal place where everyone can stay alone with nature, ride numerous attractions, and also spend time playing slot machines. The park is especially popular in the summer - it is full of families, youth companies and couples in love.

Especially for the summer in 2013, the park was re-planned, which made it possible to accommodate more modern entertainment and interesting playgrounds for young visitors. Swimmers will love the dragon and swans, and trampolines have been installed for more active children.

It is noteworthy that the prices in the local park are quite affordable: the cost of a ticket for various attractions ranges from 30-100 rubles. Today it is called "Wonder Park", and it is divided into a quieter "Quiet Alley" and "Entertainment Alley", where there is an inexpensive cafe, a summer stage, and also quite a lot ofattractions.

sights of electrostal

This cinema is very popular, so it can be called a landmark of Elektrostal. It is located in the shopping center "Elgrad" and consists of 5 spacious halls that can accommodate more than 800 people. To show 2D and 3D films, only modern equipment is used: Dolby Digital Surround EX and MasterImage acoustics, as well as huge screens with a special coating. In all cinema halls, very comfortable conditions for visitors were created: climate control and soft chairs.

In the foyer of the Cinema Gallery there is a play area, a fairly spacious cafe, fast food establishments (Suneki, Tashir-pizza, Rostiks, Kebab-tun, etc.) and popcorn- bar. This is an attractive local leisure center, where the residents of Elektrostal are shown all the latest cinema.

This is a whole complex where you can spend your free time pleasantly and profitably. In addition to the playgrounds, which are fully equipped for playing laser tag and paintball, guests are invited to visit a local cafe where delicious home-cooked dishes are prepared, a banquet menu, karaoke, as well as a relaxing sauna with a warm font.

What do tourists who have visited the city say? It is not tourist, but industrial. Attractions are quite specific, but overall interesting. Tourists were pleased with low prices.

Looking at the photo of the sights of the city of Elektrostal, you may want to go there and spendunforgettable weekend.
