My wife and I spent a week in Phuket and we ended up doing two Simba Tours, after being thoroughly impressed by our first tour.

We did the Phi Phi island tour, and the James Bond island tour. Both were amazing and I would recommend doing them both because they were very different from each other. The Phi Phi islands tour had snorkeling and a lot of pristine beach and lagoon locations, while the Jamea Bond island tour had no snorkeling but sea kayaking instead, as well as cave exploration.

Both times the driver showed up at our hotel in Karon beach early, and was very pleasant to deal with. He takes you directly to their office in the Royal Phuket Marina, where a light morning snack is waiting for you (boiled eggs, coffee, crackers, fruit, etc.). There's then a briefing of the tour on a large map that is very comprehensive so that everyone understands the days schedule and can ask questions. Both times the briefing was done by one of the tour guides named Harry who speaks perfect English. The tour guides themselves were amazing, we had Woody on our first tour and Harry on our second tour and I can guarantee that these guys are top notch. They really do avoid all of the masses, for example we were the first ones on the James Bond island, which apparently is very very busy normally. The tour guides know when the popular spots get busy and using the smaller boat (we had approximately 16 people on our first tour and 15 on the second), they are able to get in and out before the masses. The crew on the boat such as the captain and boat boy were always very friendly, often taking candid pictures of us, which they offer to email to you afterwards at no cost. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Highly recommend.

Experience one of Thailand’s most popular destinations, the Phi Phi Islands, on this Big Boat tour with economy seats. It’s an ideal choice for travellers who are on a budget and want to experience as much as possible in a day.

This Phi Phi Island boat tour with economy seats includes an international buffet lunch and snorkelling gear, as well as return transfers from your Phuket hotel. If you want to upgrade, we recommend you opt for silver or gold seats for a little more comfort.

No matter which seats you choose, you will be guaranteed a safe and enjoyable trip while exploring the beautiful bays and beaches of the Phi Phi Islands. It’s important to note that due to the size of the vessel, it cannot access the smaller bays and shallow waters, such as Maya Beach. Instead, our big boat will stop near the entrance to the bay where you can snorkel.

Short on time? We recommend you opt for one of our speedboat trips to the Phi Phi Islands as the Big Boat tour can take up to 2.5 hours each way. That being said, it offers a smoother ride than the speed boat tours, which makes it a good choice for families travelling with young children.

After being picked up from your hotel around 7:00 am, you will be transferred to our private pier at Koh Siray where you will meet your tour guide and board your luxury ferry yacht. We plan to depart around 8:30 am, with our first destination being the archipelago’s main island of Phi Phi Don.

On arrival at Tonsai Pier, we will say goodbye to our one-way travellers and our Phi Phi Island Big Boat tour passengers will transfer to their sightseeing boat. You’ll then head towards Phi Phi Leh to explore beautiful Loh Samah Bay, Pileh Cove and the Viking Cave, as well as Maya Bay. Please be aware that big boats are not allowed to moor at Maya Beach due to its protected corals.

This will be followed by a snorkelling session at Monkey Bay, which requires an additional 400 THB to be paid on arrival to the Thai Government to help preserve the local marine life. An international buffet lunch will then be served before we return to Tonsai Pier on Phi Phi Don.

Around 2:30 pm, we will depart from the Phi Phi Islands to Koh Siray where a return transfer awaits to take you back to your hotel.

Phi Phi Islands Big Boat tour by is the opportunity to visit the main islands with a cruiser. Big Boat tour is recommended for family with children and elderly or afraid of small boats. All the comforts you can find on board, air conditioning, bar, toilets and a large area on the roof where you can relax and sunbathe. Unfortunately, the large size of the boat does not allow you to enter in the small famous bays as Maya Bay, Pileh Cove. About two hours time from Phuket island to Phi Phi islands.

Students take boat to school after bridge closes

GUNNISON, Colo. (KUSA) - The broken bridge over Blue Mesa Reservoir outside Gunnison, Colorado, has more cracks than originally thought.

The Colorado Department of Transportation’s engineers said they have no idea when it will reopen.

Right now, they cannot even get their equipment out on the bridge to complete their inspections.

In the meantime, some students are being forced to boat to school.

Hayden Fresques lives on the other side of Blue Mesa Reservoir, and now that U.S. 50 is closed for the foreseeable future, he has been getting to school on a boat with classmates who live around him.

“It was weird. I was like, ‘I’m taking a boat to school,’ and it was so early. The sun was just coming up. I was just like, ‘What’s happening?’ It was weird. Not something I’m used to,” he said.

Families have also opened up their homes in Gunnison so that kids do not have to commute across the water every day.

It is a situation no one expected, but one with which everyone wanted to help.

“So I’ve been staying with my friend’s parents and him for the last two days or two nights. They’ve been so kind to let me stay with them. I feel so appreciated and cared for,” Fresques said.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has also opened up a side road that people can take to get around the bridge.

However, the state’s transportation department said drivers need to be guided over the rough road, so it is only open every 12 hours, once in the morning and once in the evening.

Island Day Trip Itinerary

This tour is ideal for our guests who may have done other tours of Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay and are now looking for something different. We will now take guests for a good look around the Krabi Islands on the east side of Phang Nga Bay. Here, we can snorkel (most days), canoe, swim, and explore the beautiful quiet beaches almost untouched by tourism. These islands have lovely beaches but not the cave systems of the other Phang Nga Bay tours. There are several nice snorkelling locations, where we can snorkel from the boat, but the experience does depend upon the tide and water clarity on the day.

Pickup time is around 7.00 am. You will arrive at our office by the pier around 8.00 am for a light breakfast, introduction to your guide, and briefing.

By 8.30 am, you will be aboard and under way. Heading east, you will stop at beautiful places such as Long Beach on Koh Yao Yai for swimming and exploring, and then continue east looking for a good snorkelling spot. There are several places to choose from for snorkelling, depending upon the weather and tide on the day. Often, we stop at Paradise Beach where there is a beautiful lagoon and fun snorkelling.

Along the way you will pass by a bird’s nest cave , where a security guy lives to protect and harvest the swift’s nests made of saliva. The nests are valued as a tonic, and are also used in such dishes as Bird’s Nest Soup. Not in my soup however.

There is a delicious Thai meal cooked and served aboard, usually consisting of chicken Massaman curry, sweet green chicken curry, Tom Kha Gai soup, stir-fried vegetables, tempura vegetables, steamed rice and more. Fruit and soft drinks are available all day.

We then go to Hong Island on the Krabi side of the bay to canoe through the beautiful lagoon and mangrove forest.

On the return trip, we often find another little island to swim and relax, typically Koh Nok, Koh Pak Bia, or one of the many other beautiful islands that dot this part of the bay.

Your day can be either as relaxing or as active as you want. Participate in canoeing or relaxing on the boat. The program and comfortable boat suits everyone. Families with children of all ages, older couples, and adventuresome singles. Everyone will enjoy this island tour.
