We have just returned from an amazing trip to Guatemala and Belize. Every part of the trip was wonderful, from the seamless travel and transfers to the lovely food, the fascinating range of experiences, the knowledgeable guides we connected with along the way, and so much more. Zicasso's travel partner listened carefully to our requests and interests, and every detail was addressed to perfection. We had a wonderful mix of active adventure (volcano hike, kayaking, snorkeling, etc), culinary delights, cultural immersion, and ancient exploration (the ruins of Tikal). What's more, our travel team was communicative, checking in with us a couple of times along the way, and highly responsive (on the one or two occasions we had minor questions, we got almost immediate responses).

Our Zicasso tour operator's suggestions and planning for my first trip to Belize were beyond amazing and outstanding, especially given the short amount of time given for planning and then our requested change of dates about a month before flying. Together, we put together a land package that included the Mayan ruins and cave tubing. The private transportation driver who took us to the mountain was patient in waiting for our delayed flight and knowledgeable in pointing out areas of interest on the two-hour trip. We stayed at a hotel which was quaint, clean, and beautiful. The staff were completely service-driven. Our driver/guide for the Mayan ruins and cave tubing was extremely polite and so knowledgeable. We loved him! Cave tubing is way too much fun and I am looking forward to going back to do it again. Our travel agent added an unexpected and welcomed tour through an iguana conservation project located at the hotel. The small plane/flight to Ambergris Caye was easy and gave great views. The inn right on the beach was cute, quaint, and small. It was in a great location to get away from the business of San Pedro by walking along the beachside or getting into the hustle/bustle of the town by walking one block. We took two snorkel excursions on which both crews were extremely knowledgeable, polite, and very nice. One had us going out on a sailboat, which was a pleasant surprise. We were able to rent a golf cart directly through the hotel, whose staff were kind and provided exceptional customer service, to travel to Secret Beach. One minor thing was being on the second floor of the hotel instead of the ground floor, but we completely understand that we were probably lucky to have even got a room there due to our late changes. We are more than excited about planning a trip to go back next year!

We had such a great experience with Zicasso’s travel agents. They were quick to respond to any questions leading up to our trip. They listened to our ideas of what we wanted to do and see, and took that into full account before sending us the perfectly planned itinerary. Due to some hiccups with our airlines, we were delayed a day, but once I reached out to explain the situation, our agent quickly rearranged our trip and assured us that we would still have a great vacation. And we did!!!! Even after our return, when I needed to reach out to our travel insurance to recoup some of the losses, our travel team quickly sent the appropriate documents to make it easy for me to submit. I will absolutely use and recommend this company to anyone thinking of visiting Belize.

She worked in the Guatemalan banking industry for 20 years, until she decided it was time to start a new adventure, and tourism was something she wanted to do. Mary Toy of Destinations Belize is a past secretary of the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association, a founder and past president of the Placencia Humane Society, a founder of the Placencia Sidewalk Fund, founder of Peninsula Citizens for Sustainable Development, and an inactive member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar Associations.

Destinations Belize is not affiliated with any hotel, guest house, resort or other tourism business because we believe our independence allows us to best serve our clients by offering them unbiased advice on where to stay and what to do in Belize.

And our goal is simple - to help our clients and other visitors to Belize enjoy and learn about our home in the way most comfortable for each of them.
