Fusion FC Travel Programs
About our travel program.
Fusion F.C. offers a Travel soccer program for U9 and up players who are ready to commit to moving beyond a recreational level of play and training. Fusion also strives to form a U9 "play-up" team each year for U8-aged players wishing to tryout to play at a more competitive level than our recreational program offers.
Travel teams are formed each year during spring tryouts. Teams formed during tryouts play during the next soccer year - the upcoming fall and spring season. Each soccer year runs from August 1 through the following July 31.
Fusion F.C. teams participate primarily in the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League. Most games are within 30-45 minutes of our complex; however, there may be some away games at locations in outlying locations in the CPYSL area. Home games are played at our club's main Red Land Soccer Complex in Etters, PA. Teams may also opt to participate in other leagues, tournaments, and other events.
Registration fees cover registration with our club, referee fees for league games, insurance fees, and other league fees. Uniforms must be purchased at an additional cost. If teams participate in tournaments or utilize paid trainers/coaches, payment for those activities is the responsibility of the team and players.
The Travel program is overseen by our VPs of Boys and Girls Travel Soccer, as listed below.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding our Travel program please contact the appropriate VP.

YWCA's SYRACUSE CITY FC (FUTBOL COMMUNITY)
CREATING A NEW URBAN SOCCER DEVELOPMENT MODEL HERE IN SYRACUSE
The YWCA's Syracuse City Football Club aims to make quality youth soccer programs accessible to city youth. Our programs seek to close the gap in youth soccer development and give access to those who face barriers in accessing the sport. Through innovative and collaborative efforts, our programs seeks to create a new urban soccer development model that gives children in the city of Syracuse an opportunity to learn and play, promote healthy lifestyles, increase pathways to college while proving there are alternatives to the pay-to-play model.
THE START OF SOMETHING NEW.
Back in 2017 the YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County Inc. partnered with the U.S. Soccer Foundation to offer the Foundation’s Soccer for Success after-school mentoring program in Syracuse. Soccer For Success is a free after-school program striving to establish healthy habits and develop critical life skills through caring coach-mentors. It wasn’t long before the YWCA staff realized there were many talented and passionate players who strived to play the game competitively. In the United States, youth soccer has become a pay-to-play sport, leaving many youths with talent and/or the desire to learn and play without the opportunity to play and develop their full potential.
It was because of this that in the summer of 2018 several YWCA staff started offering extra training sessions for youth interested in learning and developing their skills in the game and created Syracuse City FC (Football Club). Thanks to the support and generous contributions of community members, the club was able to enroll two teams to play in local leagues. In the fall of 2019 the YWCA incorporated Syracuse City FC as part of its programing and created the Urban Soccer Development Program. Rear the article from the U.S. Soccer Foundation blog....
CLOSING THE GAP
Syracuse has many children who love the game of soccer but are unable to access proper soccer development programs. The reason for this is barriers due cost - program fees are too high for low income families- and location - most programs are located outside the city. Building on our existing city soccer programing, the YWCA's Syracuse City FC (SCFC) aims close the gap in soccer development by establishing a city-based, low cost, youth development programs where children can learn and expand their soccer proficiency, enhance social and leadership skills, and see the sport as pathway to college.
SOCCER FOR SUCCESS
Soccer for Success is an out-of-school time program proven to help children establish healthy habits and develop critical life skills. Led by staff trained as coach-mentors, students participate in 60-90 minutes of active play 2-3 times a week with a c urriculum focused on soccer skills & Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in a non-competitive environment. The program reaches boys and girls in grades K-8.
SYRACUSE CITY FC
Syracuse City Futbol Community (FC) provides youth eager to play and compete at a higher level with opportunities to play in local leagues, while developing leadership qualities that will help them reach their full potential. The program serves youth ages 10 to 18. Currently our program has 5 teams: U15 & U17 girls, and U13, U16 & U18 boys.

Respect the ref.
Respect for referees begins with recreation soccer. Our referees are ESS alums who have been certified by WNYSRA. Many are high school players and some are as young as 13. Many are reffing for the first time this spring. We are grateful for our new and returning refs who will allow us to provide refs for all of our games this spring and next fall.
Any concerns with a referee should be brought to the attention of the Referee Coordinator. Please refrain from challenging referee calls during games.

New Sports Complex Proposed in Syracuse
Soccer and lacrosse complex would be built with covid relief funds.
A multi-sport athletic complex that would cost approximately $25 million is being planned for the Syracuse, New York region with most of the costs being covered by money given to Onondaga County as part of the American Rescue Plan.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon this week announced plans for the venue in the town of Salina which would replace a softball complex currently at the site. McMahon is proposing that the new complex have 10 fields for soccer and lacrosse, one with seating for 1,500 and all fields would have synthetic turf and lights.
“Sports tourism is a huge marketplace, and we’re in the center of the state,” McMahon told reporters . “We’re within a three- and four-hour drive of every major metropolitan market in the Northeast, including Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. So this is a huge opportunity.”
The Hopkins Road Park currently has five softball fields and one baseball field and would be relocated somewhere else in the county. If the Onondaga County Legislature approves McMahon’s proposal, construction would begin in 2022.
“We’ll pay for this project in cash, essentially using American Rescue Plan funds that replaced our lost revenue, so there will be no debt service on this,” McMahon said at a press conference .

Fact Check: Rumor Says Biden Finished 76th Academically in a Class of 85 at Syracuse University College of Law in '68. Here Are the Facts
Joe Biden graduated 76th academically in a class of 85 students at Syracuse University College of Law in 1968.
In April 2024 – just months away from the November U.S. elections – a meme was virally shared on Facebook , X and other websites showing an old photo of U.S. President Joe Biden. The meme displayed the words, "Graduated 76th in a Class of 85." Snopes was unable to locate information about who created the meme, nor did we find where it may have first been posted. "Did Biden graduate 76th out of a class of 85?," a reader asked Snopes in email. "Saw it posted by a friend on Facebook today 4/19 with an image of a grad that looks kinda like him shaking hands with someone else. Both in regalia. Black & white photo."
This claim was true. Biden finished 76th academically in a class of 85 at Syracuse University College of Law in 1968. This fact was previously confirmed in decades-old reporting from The Associated Press , The New York Times , The Washington Post and others. Many of the dated reports publishing this news cited records that Biden himself released in the late 1980s.
The picture featured in the meme showed Biden with the Rev. William J. Byron, the former president of the University of Scranton. It was captured at the 1976 undergraduate commencement ceremony where Biden – then a U.S. senator – received an honorary degree and addressed students with a speech. Byron died at the age of 96 on April 9, 2024, just days before the meme went viral.

The Syracuse University College of Law Alumni Association once published a letter mentioning Biden's low placement in his graduating class. "But statistics often prove not to be the predictor of one's abilities or prospects," the letter read. "And, indeed, it was after leaving Syracuse that his life and career took off."
On this same subject, Snopes previously reported on Biden's past false claim where he said he finished in the "top half" of his class at Syracuse. That and other false claims about his past – including a plagiarism scandal – reportedly factored in to his decision to drop out of the 1988 presidential race.
Snopes contacted Syracuse University College of Law to request records regarding this matter. We will update this story if we receive any further details.

Creators of Sora-powered short explain AI-generated video's strengths and limitations
OpenAI's video generation tool Sora took the AI community by surprise in February with fluid, realistic video that seems miles ahead of competitors. Shy Kids is a digital production team based in Toronto that was picked by OpenAI as one of a few to produce short films essentially for OpenAI promotional purposes, though they were given considerable creative freedom in creating "air head." In an interview with visual effects news outlet fxguide, post-production artist Patrick Cederberg described "actually using Sora" as part of his work. Perhaps the most important takeaway for most is simply this: While OpenAI's post highlighting the shorts lets the reader assume they more or less emerged fully formed from Sora, the reality is that these were professional productions, complete with robust storyboarding, editing, color correction, and post work like rotoscoping and VFX.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. --Junior Cori McMillan broke the program's single-season home run record with her 20th homer of the season. The home run came at the right time as it gave the Hokies the lead in the eighth inning to then lead them to victory. Freshman Emma Mazzarone dominated on Saturday, fanning nine Syracuse hitters over six innings of work to help propel the No. 13/15 Virginia Tech Hokies past the Orange 7-3.
In addition to her nine strikeouts, Mazzarone went six innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits and walking two for Virginia Tech (38-10-1, 18-5). Sophomore Lyndsey Grein (12-3) also made an impact in the circle for the Hokies, throwing two shutout innings while allowing one hit, with two walks and four strikeouts.
Offensively, the Hokies were paced by junior Cori McMillan , who went 1-for-2 on the day with a home run, a walk and three RBI. Senior Addy Greene furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Senior Emma Ritter also chipped in for Virginia Tech, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hokies got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. McMillan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Virginia Tech and get them on the board.
The Hokies lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the sixth trailing 2-1. Virginia Tech scored twice on back-to-back home runs from Ritter and Greene, which brought the Hokies lead to 3-2.
Syracuse clawed back to even the ballgame at three before Virginia Tech reclaimed a 7-3 advantage in the eighth inning. The Hokies bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of McMillan. The score remained 7-3 for the rest of the game, as Virginia Tech coasted to the win.
» Mazzarone struck out nine Orange hitters. » The Virginia Tech pitching staff combined to strike out 13 Syracuse hitters. » Virginia Tech's highest scoring inning was the eighth, when it pushed four runs across. » Virginia Tech hitters hit three homers in the ballgame. » The Hokies out-hit the Orange at a 7-4 clip. » McMillan stole two bases in Saturday's game. » Virginia Tech pitchers faced 33 Syracuse hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and two fly balls while striking out 13. » McMillan led the Hokies at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI. » Syracuse was led offensively by freshman Madelyn Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI. » Sophomore Madison Knight led the Orange pitching staff, throwing eight innings of seven-run ball.

Biden to make stops in Syracuse, Westchester County Thursday. Why he is visiting NY
President Biden is set to make several stops across New York Thursday as he promotes federal funding for key economic priorities and rubs shoulders with prospective donors.
Biden will visit Syracuse to promote a preliminary agreement to provide a $6.1 billion federal cash infusion for Micron chip manufacturing plants in New York and Idaho . Micron in 2022 pledged to invest up to $100 billion in the Syracuse-area project, hailed as one of the largest memory chip plants to be built in the U.S.
The $6.1 billion investment comes from the CHIPS and Science Act, a 2022 legislative package designed in part to position the U.S. as a leader in chip manufacturing.
On Thursday in Central New York, Biden will "discuss how the CHIPS and Science Act and his Investing in America agenda are growing the economy and creating jobs in Central New York and communities across the country," White House Deputy Communications Director Jennifer Molina said on X Tuesday.
Biden will also attend a sold-out glitzy fundraiser in Westchester County that day, attended by Hollywood names like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, who own a home in the area.
Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide
The minimum price to attend is $3,300 for one person and $5,000 per couple. Top donors will shell out $100,000 to the Biden Victory Fund to rank as hosts of the event.
Central and downstate New York have been regular stops for Biden in recent years as he's promoted various economic initiatives like Micron and a $20 billion investment in IBM plants in Poughkeepsie, Yorktown and Albany. He also touched down in the state to make campaign-style speeches in Valhalla last year, and at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers two nights before the 2022 midterm elections , during which New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was expected to face a tough election challenge from Republican opponent Lee Zeldin.

Miami bounced back from its CONCACAF Champions Cup elimination with back to back regular season wins over Sporting KC (3-2) and Nashville (3-1). Lionel Messi was a force to be reckoned with in both games, and found the net twice during Miami’s last outing against Nashville, including an equalizer at 11′ following the Herons’ own goal at 2′, and a successful penalty kick at 81.
Miami commands the Eastern conference with a 5-3-2 record as they prepare for their outing against New England, which is having roughly the opposite season to date. The Revs are 1-1-6 overall and dead last in the standings. They’ve lost their last three games across competitions and won just one of their last nine fixtures.
Saturday’s game is still expected to draw a record-setting crowd at Gillette, no doubt due to the arrival of the Argentinian superstar with the away side. More than 64,000 fans are expected to be in attendance, according to USA Today , and it is expected to be the stadium’s highest-attended MLS game ever, since the 61,000 fans attended New England vs. L.A. Galaxy in 2022.
