  • Elizabeth H 2 contributions 0 5.0 of 5 bubbles Adventure worth every step! Trust your guide. We had to be flexible about leaving time due to weather conditions and looking back I am so glad we were in Taina's hands to monitor this. We changed the leave times and felt a little rushed through the hike to the falls and swim area, but thank God she pushed us. We were first to arrive at falls, and had it to ourselves before the crowds arrived. Not a hike for the frail or dainty, but well worth it! Tristan Lebron

Tour Guide / Guía Turístico

Buenas! Bienvenidos a Tranki Tours, my name is Tristan.

I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where there is little to no Boricua nor Caribbean culture. While it’s a culturally rich region in the United States, something was still missing. I remained intrigued and curious about my family’s roots in Puerto Rico. After beginning my travels around the world, I decided it was time to seek the same fulfillment from Isla del Encanto.

Since relocating in 2020, my life has blossomed into everything I never imagined it could be. I increasingly appreciate our island, people, and culture with each passing day, and I aim to spark that feeling within you during our time together. I love being outdoors and connecting with people. And the fact that I can do both in my favorite place on earth is a blessing for me. Puerto Rico is full of enchantment, and it’s an honor to make our tours the highlight of your trip!

Magical mystery tour.

VIP Rainforest experience into the Ancestral Soul of Puerto Rico!

We access this sacred land via a private property (farm) which belongs to us (Atabey Tours). From here we have a 15 minute hike through the forest to reach the river. This is a super off the beaten path local area (no tourists). This adventure requires hiking on uneven terrain. Once on the river, we do some wild river trekking (waist deep) and enjoy some beautiful swimming holes and an optional Mud Bath along with spectacular views of the mountains and even the ocean. We even have a natural water slide more up river for those true explorers. All this on the way to our stunning 40 foot waterfall where we can play and cliff jump into the river at all levels from easy to more challenging.

We bathe inside the vortex of the canyon created by the thundering waterfall carving out the rock over thousands of years. On the way back, we take the Afro-Puerto Rican scenic coastal route & learn about local African culture in our island. Pickup and drop off time is usually 12:30-5:30pm (possibly longer) depending on your pace as we have no rush in these magical places. We can also start earlier. I would pick you up in your place in the San Juan area.

We also get to indulge in the best local Puerto Rican Mountain coffee on the island in some of the farm to table cafés where the owners grow their own coffee beans in their farms up in the highest Central mountains of Puerto Rico. We focus on secret local spots in the city as well as the iconic classics with a unique local perspective. Rainforests and Rum Castles: The Best Day Trips From San Juan

By  Kathleen Squires

“El Yunque is the United States’ only tropical rainforest. It was devastated by the storms. The lower falls have been cleaned up, so you can still hike that part; it’s full of lovely greenery and flowers. I recommend going to El Yunque with  Atabey Tours . The guide, Andres Carrero, is an adventurer who has lived in Puerto Rico his entire life. He has a deep appreciation for the island and is super socially conscious. He will point out amazing things that people don’t normally notice and take you off the beaten path. Remember to wear a bathing suit so you can jump in a swimming hole.”  —Laura Daen, founder of  Mercado Agricola Natural Viejo San Juan

Join this unique Afternoon to Night Nature Walk Adventure!

Did you know that about 60% of the El Yunque Rainforest inhabitants are nocturnal, and are very seldom seen during the daytime?

Imagine entering the forest just about one hour before the sun sets via a guided nature walk tour to learn about the daytime flora and fauna, and walking along a manmade and natural trail that winds its way through the forest to a wild and scenic river better known as the Mameyes.

If weather conditions permit, we are able to take a dip in one of El Yunque’s finest natural swimming holes, Las Damas pool, or you can just relax around the river banks and listen to the water rushing through the rocks!

After about thirty minutes, it’s time to start our walk back out of the forest, just as twilight settles in over El Yunque. All diurnal animals are preparing to rest while the nocturnal animals are starting to come to life. First, we notice the cooling of the air; the dew points rise, sounds become much more intense, new smells fill the air as night prepares to fall! Bats take flight, sounds of the Puerto Rican screech owl are heard in the distance, insects are seen and heard, 17 species of tree frogs start calling out to their mates, aquatic life becomes more present as El Yunque awakens!

Come and enjoy the El Yunque Rainforest while it’s asleep, then leave as it awakens! This Puerto Rico rainforest tour is an adventure not to be missed!

Great experience. We felt very safe and there were several different zips of different lengths. It was a warm day but it got even hotter when we saw all of the good looking staff.

A++++. Safety was #1 here!!!!! I never ever felt unsafe. We were clipped on every second of the 11 (2 were mini ones) zip lines that we were on. Super impressed w this place. Safest one ever. Very very veryyyy fun staff!!!! They were funny and were entertaining and made it a super fun experience.

Personable staff, pretty views. Great spot if this is your first experience zip lining or if you just want to try it out during your time in the area. We had a good time. Clear & easy instructions and the lines were not very difficult. Definitely recommended if this will be your first time.

This zipline adventure was so much fun! Our tour guides, Giovanni, Eliot, Yariel,, Christian and Anthony were very professional but they made it so fun! You can tell that they love their jobs. Safety is top notch, they continually reminded us of how we should be as we go down the line and most of all the views were amazing. All in all, this was a great activity to do and is well worth the money!
