Cody Rhodes tour bus sets on FIRE in Philadelphia before WrestleMania

WWE  Superstar Cody Rhodes avoided a potential life-threatening incident after his tour bus caught fire ahead of WrestleMania this weekend.

Rhodes is in Philadelphia for WWE's biggest event of the year, where he'll headline both nights at WrestleMania 40 at the city's Lincoln Field Stadium.

Cody rhodes says his tour bus caught fire last night, everyone ok, share this article.

When you’re preparing for the biggest weekend of your pro wrestling career, the last thing you need is unexpected misfortune. Life threw one at Cody Rhodes Thursday night, but fortunately it all turned out fine.

The American Nightmare took to social media today to reveal that his tour bus caught fire Thursday, but that everyone was OK. He thanked the Philadelphia Fire Department and joked that the things he grabbed off the bus before he evacuated “will probably pop wrestling fans,” though he didn’t say what those were.

Before you hear it elsewhere – my tour bus caught fire last night 🔥 Everybody is safe and okay The 2 items I grabbed before I got off will probably pop wrestling fans Again, thank you @PhillyFireDept — Cody Rhodes (@CodyRhodes) April 5, 2024

Appropriately, the comments section of his post is filled with fans and other accounts (like that of USA Network, which broadcasts Raw) expressing their relief that everyone on the bus is safe.

Rhodes has a busy schedule during WrestleMania week, one that comes with being the biggest fan favorite star in WWE. He’s been doing a ton of media and also made an appearance at the WWE World fan event yesterday.

He could probably do with less unscheduled distractions like this one, however, as he’s pulling double duty at Lincoln Financial Field this weekend. Rhodes will team with Seth Rollins to take on Roman Reigns and The Rock on Saturday night, then turn right around and face Reigns solo in the last match of the evening on Sunday.

In any case, we echo the sentiments of the wrestling community in saying we’re glad Cody and everyone with him is fine, and hope that nothing else of this nature pops up over the next 48 hours.

Cody rhodes says tour bus caught on fire, 'it was up in a big fireball', cody rhodes my tour bus caught on fire ... 'it was up in a big fireball'.

Scary moment for Cody Rhodes in the leadup to this weekend's WrestleMania in Philadelphia -- he says his tour bus caught on fire ... but, thankfully, he made it out unscathed.

The American Nightmare told Pat McAfee on Friday morning the blaze started just hours earlier -- at around 1 AM -- just as he had settled into his bed to get a little bit of shuteye.

Rhodes says his driver noticed the flames -- and urged him to get out quickly. The 38-year-old WWE Superstar says he then grabbed a few pictures and his 'Mania boots -- before jetting off the ride.

Rhodes said the vehicle didn't burn down completely -- but, "it was up in a big fireball for a moment."

Fortunately, he said there were no injuries ... and he gave a big shoutout to the Philadelphia Fire Department for assisting in putting out the blaze.

Rhodes is slated to wrestle twice in the WWE's Super Bowl ... taking on The Rock and Roman Reigns with Seth Rollins on Saturday night -- and then wrestling against Reigns on Sunday night.

Here is the best ending segment in #WWERaw history with Cody Rhodes and The Rock In case you missed it. pic.twitter.com/q247dYHEfR — FADE (@FadeAwayMedia) March 26, 2024 @FadeAwayMedia

Rhodes says he didn't take the blaze as a bad omen -- especially considering The Rock beat him down in front of that bus just a few days ago -- in fact, he told McAfee he was viewing it as just the opposite.

"I think the universe was saying, 'Hey, we're going to set your bus on fire and you're still going to go in and wipe the floor with The Bloodline on Saturday,'" he said.

"'You're still going to do it.'"

Guess we'll all know in a little over 24 hours!

By John Dodge

April 7, 2024 / 6:00 AM CDT / CBS Chicago

The partial solar eclipse will occur in Chicago from 12:51 p.m. to 3:22 p.m. CDT. It is at its maximum coverage—when 94% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon as seen from Chicago—at 2:07 p.m. CDT.

Here are some events to view the spectacle:

Earth and Space Center, Triton College, 2000 Fifth Avenue, River Grove

The college's  Earth and Space Center  has the second-largest planetarium in Illinois, and officials started getting ready at the beginning of March, with shows already running not only on the eclipse and its impact but also on how eclipses have been viewed historically.

9:30 a.m. The Cernan Center's Box Office and Star Store will open to sell Planetarium tickets ($4-$8) and eclipse glasses.

Noon-3:30 p.m. Telescopes with full aperture solar filters and various indirect viewing methods will be provided.

Adler Planetarium, 1300 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago

The Adler will have activities outside the planetarium where attendees will be encouraged to observe the eclipse. Tickets are not required

The staff there will provide:

  • Safe solar viewing through telescopes on the Telescope Terrace.
  • Telescopes for solar projection and eclipse photography.
  • Free solar viewer giveaways (while supplies last).

Pullman National Historical Park, 610 East 111th Street, Chicago

Join National Park rangers and a NASA ambassador to learn about and view the eclipse from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There will be snacks and a limited number of solar safety glasses available.

Twice in a Lifetime Solar Eclipse, Chester, Illinois

View the eclipse along the bank of the Mississippi River. The official riverfront viewing site opens at 9 a.m. Cole Memorial Park and Cohen Recreation Complex will also have viewing parties with music and food.

The Ryder Family Farm, in Golconda, Illinois, will offer a 4-course "Farm Dinner. Enjoy appetizers and beverages, view the eclipse, enjoy the farm ambiance, and sit down for a French-based Farm Dinner.

Tickets are $220, $199 for children 12 and under. Starts at noon.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 4780, West 16th Street, Indianapolis

NASA will broadcast live from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway while real-life astronauts and NASA experts will be on hand.
