Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship arrives at Honolulu (Oahu Island, Hawaii) for bunkering

The HDOT (Hawaii Department of Transportation) Harbors Division announced that the Celebrity Cruise s' ship Celebrity Eclipse was scheduled to arrive in Honolulu (Oahu Island, Hawaii) for fueling and provisioning on Saturday, September 18, 2021, and is expected to depart on Monday, September 20, 2021.

The vessel came from Indonesia en route to San Diego (California USA) with no passengers and only a skeleton crew. The Eclipse ship stopped in Honolulu only for bunkering. All crew members were restricted to the vessel while in port.

No passengers have been on the ship since May 2020, the beginning of the COVID crisis. Eclipse is currently scheduled to restart commercial operations in 2022 (on March 26th) out of homeport Los Angeles .

The 2010-built Celebrity Eclipse belongs to the company's Solstice-class boats, with sisterships Equinox ,  Reflection ,  Silhouette ,  Solstice . All these liners were constructed by Meyer Werft at  Papenburg Shipyard (Germany) .

As  newbuilds , Solstice-class ships were among the most environment-friendly marine vessels ever constructed. The Eclipse ship has an efficient hull design coated with light-emitting diodes and an innovative photovoltaic system. This way, the liner's energy-saving increases ~30% compared to a similar-class passenger vessel. Solstice-class also featured the fleet's first new cabin types and categories (ConciergeClass, AquaClass). Around 85% of all passenger staterooms have private step-out balconies.
