I was very impressed and happy with my online consultation. The initial registration process was very straightforward and the app was very slick with no hiccups. Interesting how you get to choose your doctor. Some doctor profiles had more information than others, with the minimum showing their IMC registration number and a picture. My doctor was very nice, professional and clear. I didn't have to wait long to see her (about 10 min), as you book your preferred time slot from available ones and then when they're ready you get notified (text, device notification etc). Ideal for straightforward Dx. Besides the skypelike interface which was nice and clear, you can also send extra photos of your condition which was great. Again. Overall very impressed. Finally...welcome to the proper 21st century of medicine.

I found it an excellent experience as I didn't feel well enough to travel to my Doctor several kms away, I most likely would have had to wait for an appointment and then sit in a full waiting room feeling unwell. I never felt rushed and it was no different to seeing a doctor in person The gentleman in the premises where I went was very helpful but at the same time he respected my privacy, he reassured me with the process and helped me set up my account. I would recommend the service to everyone. I liked the fact that the Doctor said to visit my own Doctor if I didn't see an improvement in a few days. I should also add it's a lot less expensive than visiting a Doctor.

While our network is ever-expanding and growing to include health care practitioners and providers nationwide we can’t guarantee that individual providers will be part of our network.

Can children join Recovery at Home Ireland and avail of doctors at home visits?

Of course, both children and adults can become part of Recovery at Home Ireland.

How does it work?

After confirming your booking, you'll get a link to access your online video consultation or you will receive a phone call from one of our doctors, depending on the selected type of consultation.

If you opt for a phone consultation, please ensure that you are able to provide an Irish phone number for communication.

What's included?

General practitioner consultation by phone call or online video visit;

Electronic prescription;

Tests prescription;

Medical notes (sick leave*, professional, others) - ( this is a complementary service that has a price of 10 € )

Bare in mind that our doctors do not routinely prescribe controlled substances.

What can you expect from the GP video or phone consultation?

During the online GP consultation, the doctor conducts a thorough medical review by asking questions. The questions may cover symptoms, general condition or feeling of the patient, any health concerns, and the results of previous medical tests.

After running some checks, if necessary, the doctor will then recommend more tests, which may include imaging scans such as MRI, PET, or CT scan, prescribe medication or prepare a referral to a medical specialist. 

Some of most common health conditions treated on our online GP consultation (among others): 

• Respiratory: asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and other acute infections
• Circulatory: hypertension or high blood pressure
• Endocrine: diabetes, metabolic diseases and immunity disorders
• Musculoskeletal: joint disorders, osteoarthritis and rheumatism
• Nervous system and sense organs: ear infections, migraines and pink eye
• Genitourinary: urinary tract (or bladder) infections, menstruation disorders and menopausal issues
• Mental disorders: attention deficit disorder, depression and anxiety
• Injury/poison: contusion or bruises, sprains, strains and open wounds
• Skin and subcutaneous tissue: eczema, cellulitis (bacterial infection of the skin and tissues beneath the skin) and abscesses (collection of pus build-up within the tissue)
• Infections and parasitic diseases: viral and chlamydial infections and strep sore throat

Columbia University has become the epicenter of a growing showdown between student protesters, college administrators and Congress over the war in Gaza and the limits of free speech.

Oncologists' meetings with drug reps don't help cancer patients live longer

Drug companies often do one-on-one outreach to doctors. A new study finds these meetings with drug reps lead to more prescriptions for cancer patients, but not longer survival.

Pharmaceutical company reps have been visiting doctors for decades to tell them about the latest drugs. But how does the practice affect patients? A group of economists tried to answer that question.

When drug company reps visit doctors, it usually includes lunch or dinner and a conversation about a new drug. These direct-to-physician marketing interactions are tracked as payments in a public database, and a new study shows the meetings work. That is, doctors prescribe about five percent more oncology drugs following a visit from a pharmaceutical representative, according to the new study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research this month.

But the researchers also found that the practice doesn't make cancer patients live longer.

"It does not seem that this payment induces physicians to switch to drugs with a mortality benefit relative to the drug the patient would have gotten otherwise," says study author Colleen Carey , an assistant professor of economics and public policy at Cornell University.

For their research, she and her colleagues used Medicare claims data and the Open Payments database , which tracks drug company payments to doctors.

While the patients being prescribed these new cancer drugs didn't live longer, Carey also points out that they didn't live shorter lives either. It was about equal.

The pharmaceutical industry trade group, which is known as PhRMA, has a code of conduct for how sales reps should interact with doctors. The code was most recently updated in 2022, says Jocelyn Ulrich, the group's vice president of policy and research .

"We're ensuring that there is a constant attention from the industry and ensuring that these are very meaningful and important interactions and that they're compliant," she explains.

The code says that if drug reps are buying doctors a meal, it must be modest and can't be part of an entertainment or recreational event. The goal should be education.

Ulrich also points out that cancer deaths in the U.S. have declined by 33 percent since the 1990s , and new medicines are a part of that.
