Hagey ‘steers away’ and closes doors after more than eight decades

From Souderton all the way to Canada, Hagey has provided informational tours and comfortable transportation. “After 84 years of offering the finest in motor coach tours, Hagey Coach & Tours is permanently closing its doors,” Hagey’s official goodbye message, posted on their website, said. Teachers have used Hagey for a long time for field trips, concerts, and much more. Hagey gave passengers a “comfortable experience” and made a “huge influence” on the community. “[The seating] is comfortable…you sit up higher, it’s climate-controlled, and [there is] wifi capacity. Come on, what kid isn’t on their phone?” French teacher Anne Fitch said. Indian Crest choir teacher Michelle Clausz was always impressed with how easy it was to transport instruments. “They have a lot of cargo space for all the music equipment,” Clauzs said. According to Clauzs, through Hagey, family traditions were formed. as families were able to form traditions of going to the same place each year by taking the bus. According to Fitch, Hagey also made it easier for exchange students to travel back and forth. “I worked [in] conjunction with a third-party for my entire career of bringing exchange students over from France. There was a student named Allen Cane and he used Hagey a lot,” Fitch said. Without Hagey, exchange students like Cane will have to look for new means of transportation. Cane would use Hagey to attend “excursions with both the American [students] and the French [students,]” Fitch said.

Boy, do we miss Hagey. After 80+ years, the pandemic finally forced the closure of this great local family run institution. I believe I said it all in my other reviews about my feelings for the great service they provided to their customers. Farewell!

We have taken Hagey Tours to many destinations - one day and multiple day tours - over the course of 20 years. The coach drivers are very knowledgeable about the destinations, courteous, and prepared to handle the rigors of either type of trip. It's a family-owned and operated business whose focus is on keeping their customers happy. Their main location in Franconia offers a fenced, lighted area for customers where there is always someone onsite (expert maintenance team caring for their coaches). We can't say enough about our experience, from the office team who scouts out the trips first hand, to the drivers, to the clean facilities, to the maintenance crews who keep the coaches humming. We can't wait for our next trip...wherever and whenever that turns out to be!

Our first and probably last tour with Hagey. The four day trip to Martha's Vineyard was terrible with a rude and condescending bus driver (Jeff) and poor tour guide (Jeanne). The stops were mostly shopping and eating events. No response from the company after submitting survey.

First time on a Hagey Coach but tour. Wife and I went to New York Cory for the day. Bus was clean and very nice overall. Our driver was polite and courteous and above all Very professional. We will surely take a Hagey Coach tour again in the future!

We took this bus tour up to NYC yesterday. Our driver Bob was so friendly and it was such a convenient way to get up to NYC for the day without having to take the train and travel to/from Penn station. It was the most relaxing trip my family has ever taken up to the Big Apple . I would definitely recommend this company and will be taking their tours again in the spring.

I took the Hagey bus to New York this past weekend and I thought it was good! It was very convenient as they have a stop at the Montgomeryville mall, so there is plenty of parking available at the mall parking lot and you don't have worry about paying an arm and leg for parking like I've done in the past parking at the 30th street station to take the train to NYC. There were 5 different buses going to 5 different theaters in the theater district playing different broadway shows. The boarding was painless and very organized and left on time. There was no traffic, so we go to the city fairly quickly. The drop off location was at 44th and 8th which is just a few blocks away from times square. The driver was very courteous and every once in a while pointed out locations like new WTC tower on our way into the city and the statue of liberty to our left while returning home. The one negative I think is the fact that you only get a few hours in the city as the bus gets there around 11am and leaves at 5:30pm from the city. This does not give you too much time to tour the city and do a lot of things. I would have liked it more if the bus would depart around 8-9 pm, so that you I could fit in a few more things in NY before heading home. The bus seems to be geared for people planning on watching a matinee broadway show with a few hours for lunch and a quick dinner afterwards. I may take the bus again if I decide to watch a show, but I just don't think I had enough time in the city for the price I paid to get there.

Do not entrust your life and the lifes of anyone you care about to this company that employs reckless, discourteous drivers. I know because one hit my vehicle on October 8, 2013. He never came to see if I was injured and the company took no responsibility for their action. This is not about money, I have insurance and the means to pay for damage. Its about bus companies that employ drivers who can harm their riders and the public. When you take a train, you have no choice as to who is driving, but when hiring a bus company you do and I would seriously discourage hiring this one.

Big shout out to the managers of Hagey Couch & Tours. My son misplaced his wallet on the bus, and they sent it right out to our house, after calling to let us know that the wallet had been found. My son was part of a group of young adults with special needs and his wallet is critical. Many thanks for the great customer service to Camp Pals!

I have taken Hagey bus tours many times and had a pleasant experience everytime. Drivers are courteous and professional, buses are clean and roomy and even have outlets at each seat so you can charge your devices. Pickup points are convenient at Montgomery mall with plenty of free parking. Free WIFI and room for personal bags.

Great 4 day trip to Middlebury VT. Hagey lined up accommodations, meals, attractions. A good vacation package.

Have been on 5 different tours from a day trip to a 6 day trip. Everyone of them were great. Hotel, food, tour guides and the bus drivers all supper. Can not wait for my next trip.

The BCSO wishes all the best to the Hagey family, long-time concert sponsors, who recently closed the Hagey Coach & Tours portion of their business after serving the community for 84 years. Hagey Coach & Tours, Linda Hagey and her late husband, Donald, have donated generously for many years to support our concert programming, particularly the Family Concert that benefits hundreds young musicians in our community each year.

Our best wishes to Linda, a true Friend of the Symphony; we look forward to seeing her once again when our concerts are able to resume.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
