Halloween on the High Seas is Back for Disney Cruise Line!

Halloween on the High Seas is back at Disney Cruise Line, and Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck are SO excited, they fashioned up some new costumes for the celebration! 

Mickey and Minnie are both dapper and spooky in their new, batty ensembles. Never to be outdone, Donald has put together a gentleman spider costume sure to impress Daisy Duck. All of his spidery legs are ready to boogie!

Make sure to pack your own Halloween garb for Mickey’s Mouse-querade, a special party with Mickey and his pals dressed in their Halloween best. You’ll be able to get a spooky selfie in your scary suits during themed meet and greets with Disney characters!

Disney is celebrating the official Halfway to Halloween mark with some big news! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and beyond.

Are you ready to celebrate all things spooky and seasonal this year for Halloween? We are, and we can’t wait for the frighteningly fun overlays, decorations, and parties to return at Disney theme parks – and other Disney destinations like Disney Cruise Line ships! This week, Disney is celebrating Halfway to Halloween and sharing a few sneak peeks at what’s in store for guests come fall.

When Halloween arrives this year, you’ll find countless ways to celebrate inside the theme parks, across the resorts, and even at sea. Take a look at what’s coming for Halloween 2024 below.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Returns in 2024

The guest-favorite Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is coming back to Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World for another year of frights and fun! This separately ticketed event, which takes place on select nights from August through October 31, will kick off on August 9.

The dates for 2024 are:

• August 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30
• September 2, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29
• October 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27, 29, 31

During the 2024 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates, guests can strike a pose with Mickey and Minnie in brand-new seasonal costumes. There will also be some thrilling new character experiences, too, including the chance to meet Bruno alongside Mirabel in the Fantasy Garden and a new DescenDANCE Party inspired by the upcoming Disney+ movie Descendants: The Rise of Red .

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets will go on sale for guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green on May 8. Tickets will go on sale for all guests on May 15.

Oogie Boogie Bash is Back (With More Dates!)

At Disneyland Resort, Halloween Time will mark the return of the beloved Oogie Boogie Bash for 2024 – and this year, the spooky celebration will be bigger than ever before! When the party arrives at Disney California Adventure Park this year, it’ll offer more dates for plenty of after-hours Halloween fun.

Oogie Boogie Bash will return on 27 nights throughout the Halloween season, starting Sunday, August 25 through Thursday, October 31. This will be the first year that party dates are offered in August! Tickets aren’t available just yet, but will be available this summer.

All of the aspects guests love about Oogie Boogie Bash will return, too, including immersive treat trails, unique character sightings, themed merchandise, special seasonal entertainment, and exclusive food and beverages.

Halloween on the High Seas Sets Sail in 2024

Disney Cruise Line will set sail in 2024 with Halloween on the High Seas – a returning favorite for cruise guests! This year, Halloween on the High Seas will feature brand-new costumes for Mickey, Minnie, and Donald Duck. While Mickey and Minnie opt for some “batty” inspiration, Donald makes one very gentlemanly spider.

In addition to the opportunity to meet characters such as Mickey, Minnie, and Donald, this event out at sea also includes a scary good time filled with activities like Mickey’s Mouse-querade, trick or treating, and some spooky food and drinks.

Halloween on the High Seas is available on cruises setting sail on select dates in September and October.

Frightfully Fun New Merch is Coming

One of the best parts of the Halloween season at any Disney theme park or Disney Cruise Line sailing is the brand-new seasonal merch, and you’re in for a mix of returning favorites and fresh, frightening picks this year.

Disney shared a sneak peek at the 2024 Halloween merchandise, and it includes the return of those ever-popular Mickey Mouse pumpkins as well as clothing featuring Mickey Mouse and friends. Plus, Haunted Mansion fans won’t want to miss a brand-new collection inspired by the attraction itself.

International Theme Parks Will Celebrate Halloween in New Ways

Of course, Disney theme parks around the world will also get in on the Halloween fun. At Disneyland Paris, the Disney Halloween Festival will take place from October 1 to November 3, 2024. During this celebration, spellbinding events like Mickey’s Halloween Celebration, Disney villain meet and greets, and more will fill the park.

At Tokyo Disney Resort, guests can celebrate Disney Halloween from October 1 to November 7, 2024. The seasonal fun will include brand-new theming across Tokyo Disneyland, as well as new entertainment and more.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
