“Brother used this and booked”

My brother used this service and booked his trip to fiji with me it was okay for him so it may make sense for others

“To good to be true”

I am writing this review to warn veterans from being blindsided by these prices. They advertise prices that are from $200-400 for 7 day stays then show resort fees of around $10. Which is an amazing deal right? Wrong a lot of the resorts actually charge extra fees especially if it's all inclusive. These fees can be almost $400 a night per person. You can purchase one of these deals than show up with your partner and will be told by the hotel that you owe around 5k for the stay. Imagine that happening to you! It saddens me how these prices trick vets and people who serve.

Be careful when booking. The advertised price may seem nice. They usually advertise $200-$400/7night stays. But There are hidden fees. You'll most likely be better off just booking through the actual resort's website or a travel agency. Save some money and always do research on cancellation.

I booked 11 days at LaQuinta, Airport Clearwater Florida through AFVC. I paid in advance. The AFVC highly recommended it. The hotel was by far the most dilapidated, filthiest, roach infested place I have ever seen. I had to leave after two days due to the roaches, filth and patrons. The hotel would not give me a refund. They said they would send AFVC the credit($545). AFVC said the purchase was non-refundable. I offered to show the agent the photos I had of the severity of the situation. She gave me a bogus email to send the photos to and refused to give me her last name. This site takes advantage of veterans! Stay away!

I had a reservation for August in Vegas. When our event was canceled due to Covid-19, I immediately called to cancel or reschedule for another time frame, but they refused to reschedule for a later date, and they would not give me a full refund. I think that 60 days in a pandemic situation is way too far for AFVclub to keep 25% of the payment for cancellation. Disney is 7 days out to cancel and you get a full refund! Very disappointed. I will NEVER book with AFVclub again. For those who are first time user of AFVclub, please do not book with them or do the research first.

afvclub cruise reviews

Hi all, have any military members or spouses on here booked a vacation using afvclub.com? My fiancé and I are really wanting to go on our first vacation together but need something REALLY affordable. We also looked into cheapcaribbean.com but are thinking about using afvclub and flying Space A. We've never done this before and have never really traveled. Can anyone tell me more about this? Any and all details welcome, any information is probably new information to me. Thank you!

There are a few posts and reviews for their recommended hotels - but they look like a travel club. As such, I cannot recommend them, because I think I can find better bargains and deals on my own.

I use AFVClub all the time. We have vacationed in Lake Tahoe, Hilton Head, Orlando, Las Vegas, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and others at a considerable fraction of the market price. Needless to say, many of these vacations would not have been possible for us at this level of comfort and luxury without AFVClub. It is called a club, but you do not need to pay to join or pay any other fees aside from what you are paying for the rental. You are a member if you are active military or veteran.

These are four of the resorts we've stayed at, normally a 3 bedroom or 2 bedroom with a sleeper.

2. Accommodation Options

When it comes to accommodation options, there are more than 4000 choices you can choose from worldwide. If you are an eligible member, you can book any one of them, some of them costing less than 50 Dollars per day. You can book your chosen accommodation from anywhere between 2 days to 365 days in advance. And once you have booked your favorite listing, that unit will be taken out of the reservation list which will guarantee your stay.

3. Offers and Deals!

One of the biggest benefits of being a member of the Armed Forces Vacation Club is the plethora of offers and deals that you get. There are different rates and offers for each budget that starts at 349 Dollars a week. Your upgrades, add-ons, and the time of the year you have chosen for your vacation will affect the final rate of these vacation deals.

Space-A-Vacation:

This is a one week offer that has a fixed price of 349 Dollars per week. So whether you are a couple of a party of 6, the rate will be the same because the price is dependent on the accommodation and not on the number of people. The website allows its members to choose the amenities, rates, and activities and sort out their accommodation according to these guidelines.

Last Minute Vacations:

This offer is for the premium members of the AFVC. This program allows premium members to book hotel rooms or studio apartments for 309 Dollars per week. If you are looking for more than one room, then the rate jumps to 329 Dollars per week.

Short Stays:

This offer is for those members who are in search of a 3 to 4-night vacation in a comfortable and relaxing condo.

High Demand Getaways:

High demand getaways offer larger accommodation units in a high demand resort during peak tourist season. These resorts are in some of the most sought-after destinations in the world.

All-Inclusive Package:

This offer is the most expensive of the bunch since it includes all food and drinks costs. This offer is helpful as it makes it easier for you to calculate the budget for the trip. This offer does not include the everyday resort fee, so keep that in mind when you are budgeting your trip.

Vacation Deal On New Resorts

The AFVC offers a 50 Dollars discount on every new addition of resort to their list. The recent vacation deal includes newly built resorts in Hawaii, California, South Carolina, and Florida. If you want to take advantage of these deals, you must keep monitoring the AFVC website regularly.

These holidays are Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Easter, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day. If you are planning a getaway during any of these holidays then, we advise you to book early as these offers are limited.

Military Vacation Club

4. Resort Certificates

When you are a member of the Armed Forces Vacation Club, you are eligible to buy  a non-refundable resort certificate . This certificate is valid for a friend or a family member. The certificate holder can then browse from the inventory and choose their favorite vacation destination. These certificates have an expiry date and must be used within one year of buying. You can upgrade your stay at the time of booking. Whether you want additional nights or an upgraded room, you can do it all. The cost of upgrading ranges between 250 Dollars and 1500 Dollars.

5. Club Reviews

The Armed Forces Vacation Club is promoted by the Department of Defense and the  Department of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. The department of morale is responsible for the leisure services for the military. This department deals with all the deals that have been negotiated to facilitate our veterans and serving members. This enables them to offer great deals and discounts on various vacation location, and a portion of each sale goes to the military.

The reviews that you find on TripAdvisor are designed to tell you about the pros and cons of the resort or a condo instead of telling you about the benefits of the AFVC. A typical review on TripAdvisor fails to convey the price you pay if you are a member of the AFVC member.

6. Pros and Cons

The biggest pro of the AFVC membership is that it is free compared to most of the other vacation memberships that you might have come across come with a price tag attached to it. On the other hand, a major con is that you have to stay a whole week in a single destination. Moreover, the accommodation that you prefer might not be available during the peak traveling season. In addition to that, the resorts’ and accommodations’ inventory may differ or may not be available at all. This all depends on whether they are a part of the AFVC network or not.

7. Discounts and Comparing Other Options

When you compare your cost with other booking platforms like Expedia or Booking.com, the AFVC rates are very discounted in comparison. When you are comparing your options, it is important to add the same dates and read the details of the room thoroughly to make sure you are not comparing apples with oranges. When you are looking to save money, it is never a bad idea to do a bit of homework before deciding anything. Some examples of comparing offer among AFVC, Expedia, and Booking.com are;

  • A one-week stay at Velas Vallarta Suites Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for two bedrooms is $845 on Expedia and $349 on the AFVC website.
  • A stay at the Grand Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida in a three-bedroom suite is $1,449 on Expedia and $869.99 for standard AFVC membership, and $807.29 for premium members.
  • In the Berkshires of Massachusetts, a week at the Berkshire Mountain Lodge on Booking.com is $837, compared to the AFVC offer of $349.
  • In the high demand area on the AFVC website, Barefoot in the Keys, Florida starts at $688 a week for a one-bedroom and, on Booking.com for the same time, the room is $1,021.

This assessment was taken from  travel.lovetoknow.com .

8. Tips and Tricks to Get the Best Experience

The AFVC is like any other large vacation club. Its inventory changes almost daily. If you are looking to go on a vacation while saving a lot of cash, you must keep an eye on the website and plan your getaway accordingly. Apart from that, there are some other considerations as well that you should keep in mind.

Be Flexible:

When you are planning your vacation, you must stay flexible. There may not be that many deals during the peak season as the accommodation offered might be time-shared or the resort space is not in use.

Budgeting Your Time:

Resort stays or timeshare often require a one-week stay, therefore you must plan and make sure that you have enough time to spend and avail of this offer. If you are looking for a shorter getaway at an all-inclusive resort then you might have to pay a bit of extra cash.

Always Compare:

To get the best price on your vacation, it is very important to compare your deal with other booking platforms, to make sure you are getting the best value.

Being Proactive Is Key:

When you are planning a vacation, you must be taking charge. Researching the resort you are planning on going to helps a lot. You can adjust your expectations as well as compare your offer with other options available in the market.

The Devil is in the Details:

If you planning to go to an all-inclusive resort, it is important to read every line of the disclaimer with the utmost attention. You will come to know that the daily resort fee is not included.

9. Getaways On a Budget!

If you are a member of the armed forces, and you are looking to go on a vacation then, the Armed Forces Vacation Club offers some of the best deals you can find anywhere. With their diverse listings to free of cost membership, the AFVC is the perfect platform to plan your annual vacation. All you need to do is be aware of some of the limitations of the membership, plan your trip to avoid any inconvenience, and understand that if you are planning to go during the peak seasons you might have to a bit of extra money.

Final Word About The Armed Forces Vacation Club:

The Armed Forces Vacation Club is an organization that is built on the notion that our armed forces deserve the best. And to back their claim, the club offers weeklong space-available resort stays which cost so low that would make you think that it is too good to be true. Starting from 50 Dollars per day, these deals are an absolute steal.

The Armed Forces Vacation Club inventory is one of the largest ones you can find anywhere with access to accommodations in more than 100 countries with a wide range of options. The options start from a studio apartment to a two or three-bedroom apartment. The best part is that these rental properties are fixed priced. That is because the units are priced according to the accommodation and not the number of people. This is my favorite military vacation club out there!

Would you consider it related content if I included a link to my Airbnb Hosting article here? Maybe Airbnb hosting isn't specifically a part of this military vacation club but you staying in, or hosting a short term rental is fun too!

Hey David! Man, thanks for putting this all together leatherneck. After retiring from the Corps, I considered getting into 3 different timeshares, I rescinded on two of them and refused to extend the other; it was a short two year commitment. This pretty much sold me on getting into the AFVC for sure. It sounds well worth the efforts of planning a great vacation for your family or a couple’s get-away. I appreciate your work on this amigo.

Semper Fidelis!

Glad you found it helpful Serjio!

It is a scam! Most of their locations are MOTEL 6 resorts! They will offer you cheap prices but the locations are poor, many hidden fees, You can not get the resort in short term so you will not use all or non of the days. The feed are NON REFANDABLE. One of the wonderful trick is selling hotel rooms that is not running. Selling weeks that is impossible to redeem it. It is shame to scam military members or retirement members! By the way, the organization (AFVC) is running from an Asian country not the USA!

' src=

Dr. E this is absolutely NOT TRUE. The same is on YOU for coming here and saying things like this. AFVC has saved my family Thousands of dollars each year. We love going to Colorado and Florida without the high cost. Not sure why you felt the need to disparage them but please stop.

Glad to hear this!

' src=

Dr.E – AFVC is owned by Wyndham International, based in New Jersey. They don’t pre-sell weeks. Perhaps you’re confusing AFVC with Government Vacation Rewards , which has a bad reputation. Or maybe, based on your inability to write in understandable English, you are a troll. I have used AFVC in Italy and France I booked for Israel, but was unable to use it, and they refunded me my money (I canceled within the 100% refund window). We totally enjoyed our time at the AFVC locations.

' src=

We have used this site for several years, and find it wonderful for family gatherings. Since we use it about once or twice a year we do not see the advantage of paying for the premium membership, the FREE one is good for us. The the resort’s may have an activity fee. And some of the spaces have been tight for our family but we have found that most if the time we can upgrade to more spacious units. Very nice places, Holiday inn Resorts and Hilton resorts are the ones that we have used. One place that was offered was nice rooms but very dated, we knew this because we had stayed at the location previously. We find the resort options give us the best opportunity to have fun affordable family time.

' src=

I’ve been a member since 2017. Have yet to find anything available and searched up to a year. Not sure who uses this with success but I have been very unlucky.

' src=

I have found the AFVC to be extremely cost effective. We are golfers and have stayed at Fairfield Glade TN and Phoenix AZ for $389 to include discounted golfing rates. In addition, we have stayed in CA and Italy at beautiful resorts. I just booked a stay for $389 in Bavaria Germany. The key to savings is looking frequently on the website, traveling off season when you can, and read the reviews! Great article.

Who have been using AVC since 2000 when the one week stay was $199, and have always had fabulous resorts to the point where I would tell the kids don’t touch that don’t touch this. I don’t know what Dr E above is talking about. we have stayed at least since 2000 twenty-five times in different resorts and never had a problem not one single time. It is a great value for the military community.

Consequences of Failing to Pay Vacation Club Fees

If you stop paying your vacation club, the timeshare company will take various steps to collect the payment. Initially, they’ll likely reach out to you via phone calls and/or letters in order to remind you of your outstanding balance and encourage you to pay. If this proves unsuccessful, they may assign the debt to a collections agency. If you still don’t make any payments, the timeshare company may pursue legal action against you and potentially put the property into foreclosure. It is important that all parties involved understand their rights and obligations in regards to a timeshare agreement.

The rescission period typically lasts for a few days or weeks after signing the agreement and allows buyers to cancel their purchase without any additional costs. During this period, buyers can review the agreement and decide if they want to move forward with the purchase or not. If they decide against it, they can simply contact the club and request a cancellation of their membership. Depending on the terms of the agreement, some clubs may be able to provide a full refund, or may only be able to offer a partial refund for any fees already paid. It is important to read the terms and conditions carefully and understand any potential consequences before canceling your membership.

The Benefits of Joining a Vacation Club

Joining a vacation club can be a great way to save money on future vacations, proided you remember that it is an ongoing commitment. While the upfront cost of joining a vacation club may be high, you are essentially paying for a lifetime of vacations. Plus, if you buy your membership through the timeshare resale market, you could save thousands of dollars. There may also be maintenance fees associated with your membership, so make sure to read the fine print and understand what your continuing costs will be. All in all, if you plan to travel frequently in the future and want to save money on accommodations, joining a vacation club can be worth it.

The benefits of joining a vacation club are numerous and prvide great value for money. Vacation clubs provide exclusive access to vacation packages, resorts, and experiences that cannot be found elsewhere. Additionally, members often receive discounted rates on their vacations and other amenities such as spa services, golf courses, and much more.

Members of vacation clubs also benefit from the convenience of having their vacation packages pre-selected and organized for them. This can save time and energy when it comes to planning a memorable trip. Some clubs even offer personalized concierge services to help you get the most out of your experience while away from home.

Additionally, many vacation clubs offer additional benefits such as access to exclusive offers or discounts on activities or attractions during your trip. Some clubs may even cover certain expenses such as luggage handling or airport transfers so you don’t have to worry about extra costs during your stay.

Ultimately, the benefits of joining a vacation club depend on what type of club you join and what kind of package you purchase. However, if you’re loking for an affordable way to enjoy a quality getaway with access to exclusive perks, then a vacation club may be the perfect choice for you.

Alternatives to Timeshare Ownership

Owning a timeshare is often touted as an excellent way to save money on vacation accommodations, but it’s important to weigh the pros and cons before committing to a long-term ownership. In many cases, other options are more advantageous than owning a timeshare.

Staying at an Airbnb is a great option if you’re loking for a flexible, budget-friendly vacation accommodation. Airbnb listings typically offer more amenities than hotels and resorts, and they tend to be cheaper than timeshares. Plus, you have the freedom to stay in different locations every time you take a trip.

Renting from a resort can also be more cost-effective than owning a timeshare. Resorts typically offer discounted rates for weekly or monthly stays, so you can enjoy all the same amenities of staying at a resort withot having to commit to ownership.

If you’re lookng for long-term savings on vacation accommodations, purchasing your own vacation home may be the best option. Depending on where you buy and how much you’re willing to spend, it could end up being cheaper than owning a timeshare in the long run. You can also rent out your vacation home when you’re not using it, which can help offset the cost of ownership even further.

These are just some of the alternatives that may be preferable to owning a timeshare; ultimately, it will depend on your individual nees and budget. By doing your research and weighing all your options carefully, you can find the best solution for your budget and lifestyle.

In conclusion, Armed Forces Vacation Club is a great way for military personnel and Department of Defense-affiliated personnel to save money and enjoy vacations at popular destinations around the world. With an initial membership fee and manageable monthly or yearly membership and maintenance fees, members can access discounted vacations from the club’s list of possible destinations and travel dates. With Wyndham Worldwide as the parent company, Armed Forces Vacation Club offers reliable service, quality accommodations, and an affordable way to take a well-deserved break.

3 Reasons to Join Armed Forces Vacation Club

You need to be an AFVC member to take advantage of these discounts. Here are the top reasons to join AFVC:

Free Membership. Membership is free and easy, and can be completed online or over the phone. Be sure to opt-in to emails so that you can receive sales and deals directly to your inbox. Membership gives you access to a wide range of resorts around the world, making it easy and affordable to take a trip from wherever you happen to be stationed – or wherever you choose to go.

Value Pricing. Vacation Rentals are priced per unit, not per person. This gives you excellent value for your vacation dollar!

Support your local MWR / ITT office . Armed Forces Vacation Club gives back to the military community by contributing to local Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Programs or Information Tickets & Travel (ITT) offices . A portion of every booking goes back to the MWR/ITT office on the base/branch of your choosing. You can choose your local base when you become a member.

MWR programs provide servicemembers, retirees, and their family members with access to fun activities on and around military installations. It’s good to know that a portion of your purchase goes right back to the military community!

Resort Property Amenities

Many Armed Forces Vacation Club properties offer amenities not found in many standard hotel rooms. Hotels are great for short trips. But staying in a hotel for more than a few days can become cramped and expensive. Having a fridge or small kitchenette is helpful, but not all hotels have them. And most hotels don’t have DIY laundry facilities and other features you would normally have at home.

That isn’t the case with many AFVC resort properties, which frequently feature amenities like kitchens, living rooms, multiple bedrooms, washer/dryers, balconies or outdoor patios, pool and recreation facilities, kids activities, and more.

The best part is that vacation rentals are priced per unit not per person, and typically sleep 2-8 people. This makes it much more affordable for larger families or even extended families or small groups to rent a resort for a week for much less than the cost of a couple nights in a mid-grade hotel.

Additional resort features: Some resorts also have on-site activities, which may include activities such as golfing, skiing, swimming, beaches, tennis courts, and other activities. Amenities vary by location, so be sure to read the full feature list before booking your next vacation.

**Note about all-inclusive resorts: Some all-inclusive resorts may have required fees in addition to the unit rental price. These are required by and paid to the resort. AFVC will give you advance notice before you book your reservation if there are additional required fees.

Vacations for Every Type of Traveler

Armed Forces Vacation Club features several different types of vacations. Many locations offer something for the entire family, regardless of the travelers’ ages. Some of the more popular vacation types include family vacations, adventure trips, and journeys centered around beaches, fishing, golfing, skiing, and other activities. There are also relaxing and romantic getaways. A quick search on the AFVC website or a call to the AFVC customer service line can help you find what you are looking for.

A Destination for Everyone

Armed Forces Vacation Club - Lake Tahoe

Where does AFVC offer resort stays? A better question might be to ask where you can’t book through AFVC! Armed Forces Vacation Club is a part of Wyndham Worldwide, one the world’s largest hospitality companies. This makes it possible to offer a vast collection of condominium-style timeshare resorts***. There are over 200,000 resorts and over 100 countries. So you can find places in many of the world’s most popular cities and countries, as well as locations off the beaten path.

I would start by visiting their site and searching their inventory. You can use their search features to narrow down your search by continent, country, region, state, etc.

***Many of these resorts are time-shares, however, the AFVC website states members are under no obligation to attend any timeshare presentations.

Explore Destinations Worldwide .

How to Use AFVC To Book Your Next Trip

There are three ways to search for properties on the Armed Forces Vacation Club website. You can search by destination, travel dates, and price types. There are additional filters you can use to narrow down your vacation choice, including price range, ratings, unit types, amenities, activities, and more.

Here are the main ways to search and how you can use them to find the perfect vacation rental:

Search by Destination : This is the most obvious way to use AFVC. Simply choose the destination you wish to travel to, then choose your dates. AFVC has access to a large pool of inventory, making it relatively easy to find a resort for your featured location and dates.

But there are other ways you can use AFVC’s extensive network of resorts to your advantage.

Search by Dates : If you have more flexibility with your schedule, you may choose to search by date. This allows you to zero in on a specific timeline, and go from there. This can be useful if you like to vacation during a certain time of year, of you want to get in a trip before you PCS, before leaving for a deployment, etc.

Search by Price: If you are the more adventurous type, you can search for the best available price, regardless of location. This can be a fun and inexpensive way to see the world and give you an opportunity to visit a location you may not otherwise have chosen. My friends and I did this when we were stationed in the UK. We bought the least expensive airline tickets we could find and ended up staying for 4 days in Aarhus, Denmark. We had the most amazing time, even though we didn’t know much about the location before booking our tickets.

The best offers through Armed Forces Vacation Club come through their Space-A offers. These are made on a space available basis, so the inventory varies by season and location. Space-A offers feature resorts that have limited inventory and they offer heavily discounted rates in order to fill the spaces so they don’t go unused. There are some exceptional offers at these rates, which generally start at $349* per week. AFVC sometimes even offers further discounts on Space-A inventory, so keep an eye out for possible discounts or special offers.

Space-A availability is greatest when booking in the off-season, or when booking a last-minute vacation. Again, the goal is to prevent these rooms from going unbooked, so there can be great deals if you can be ready to go with a few days’ notice.

Search Now for your next vacation .

7 Night Resort Vacation Certificates

Looking for some flexibility? You can purchase a 7 Night Resort Vacation Certificate (RVC) now, and redeem it any time within the next year. RVC’s can also be purchased by an Armed Forces Vacation Club member, and given as a gift to friends or family (regardless of their military status).

Learn More About AFVC Resort Vacation Certificates .

AFVC Premium Program – Additional Value for Members

Armed Forces Vacation Club recently launched a new level of membership called Premium. Premium Membership features lots of great vacation benefits including Early Access to Sales, 10% Off High Demand Vacation Rentals, a $25 Monthly Dining Certificate from Restaurant.com & more! The cost is reasonable, at an annual rate of just $119 a year or $249 for three years (only $83 a year!).

Note: the Space-A Resorts mentioned in this article are not to be confused with Space-A travel. Both refer to space-available, but one refers to private resorts, the other refers to flying on a military aircraft on a space-available basis .

AFVC is now Wyndham & trip advisor run. You cant trust either one. Used to be really good site but not anymore. Don’t even trust resort reviews esp by Trip Advisor. Nothing gets a bad review. So sad! I wonder how much more will be taken away form active duty, retirees, and veterans. Such a shame! The certificates are now a Gimmick!! Be sure to read all the info and check out the resort info. I bought this cert yesterday and canceled it today. Some of the resorts only have upgrades available for additional charges. The one we wanted in Orlando had and extra charge over $500. The $299 spaces were nil. It is a gimmick! It is such a shame that AFVC can’t do better than that to give the correct info. Forget the pet friendly…it is nil too!

I booked a vacation in February 2019 at a resort in Western Florida and received confirmation via email. When our party of 4 arrived we were told they did not have our reservation and were booked solid. After being on the phone with a Customer Service rep she was able to find a rental in beautiful Sanibel Island, however, it is not a resort. Angry that no one made our reservation with the resort.

Service members, veterans and their families now have a one-stop shop for finding and booking travel with military discounts. The Department of Defense has teamed up with Priceline to create a travel booking site exclusively for U.S. military members.

It only takes a quick eligibility check on the American Forces Travel booking site to begin accessing savings that claim to include up to 60% off hotel stays.

Here are seven questions about the new site, answered.

1. What kinds of travel can be booked through the site?

Eligible members of the military and Department of Defense can book everything from flights and rental cars to vacation homes and hotels. Even cruises are available on the site.

The site, which is powered by Priceline, can be used for booking domestic and international travel, and boasts hotel deals in more than 71,000 destinations around the globe.

American Forces Travel also offers packages that users can use to book flights in combination with hotels or car rental for even deeper discounts. On Priceline’s site, travelers who book a package save $240 per transaction per person, on average. People will see similar savings on American Forces Travel.

In the future, American Forces Travel hopes to also offer discounts on theme parks and other attractions.

» Learn more: Beat your travel budget and find cheap activities in any city

2. Who is eligible?

American Forces Travel is open to all military and military-affiliated personnel who are eligible to use Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs. That's an estimated 9 million people.

The list of people who are eligible to use American Forces Travel includes:

Active-duty members and their families.

Full-benefit retirees and their families.

Veterans who are100% disabled and their families.

Medal of Honor recipients and their families.

American Red Cross and USA paid personnel who are serving outside of the United States and their families.

Department of Defense civilians.

Veterans and non-active members who did not retire with full benefits should be eligible later in 2019. The Department of Defense has said it intends to make them eligible but has not specified a date yet.

3. How do I find out if I’m eligible?

The eligibility check is on the American Forces Travel site. Users will enter their last name, the last four digits of their Social Security number and their date of birth. Then the information is checked against the Department of Defense’s records.

Priceline is not part of the verification process and does not capture or retain that data.

4. What kind of savings can military members expect?

American Forces Travel will offer hotel deals up to 60% off and cruise deals up to 80% off. Military members will have access to discounts on 1.2 million hotels, as well as deals on flights and car rentals.

» Learn more: Credit card offers for active-duty military

5. Are these discounts different than what nonmilitary travelers might find on Priceline?

Some of the discounts are different because Priceline has a team dedicated to negotiating additional deals for American Forces Travel.

6. Outside of travel deals, what else can American Forces Travel provide?

The same services exist for American Forces Travel that exist for Priceline customers, including 24-hour customer service and insurance options for all forms of travel.

7. Why was American Forces Travel created?

Previously, military families would have booked travel with a travel agent on a military base. The Department of Defense created American Forces Travel to make the process faster, more modern and accessible.

In addition, travel booked through American Forces Travel will generate a commission that will support Quality of Life programs for each branch of the military.

How to Book a Cruise with all Military Cruise Discounts applied

You may book directly here on our website. Our cruise search engine is configured to reveal the cruises with the lowest military discounted rate plus our extra discount is built right in. Need to book more than one cabin? Just book the first one and then start again to book the next one.

If you want to confirm that the rate shown online was the lowest rate available to you and to get our additional discount applied, you can call us at 1-866-9-MILITARY (866-964-5482) to book the cruise with you over the phone.

Be sure to tell the agent that you or a family member is part of the Armed Forces. We will then help you find the right cruise for you at the very best price.

If the cruise line is offering its own military rate, you will get that rate for as many cabins as they allow. Even if no veteran and military discounts are offered by the cruise line, we will apply our discount to the other cabins. If you already booked with the cruise line directly before you found us and have not yet paid in full, call us anyway. We might be able to get a discount applied for you.

What’s new and awesome in cruising? We’ll tell ya – and give you some great tips!

Is there such a thing as 80% discounts on cruises, as advertised by some other websites?

Oh gosh, no. We can hardly believe some sites make such silly claims! The reality is, their rates are usually the exact same as the cruise lines.

They are comparing their price to a ‘brochure rate’ to sound like they are offering a discount.

What kind of military cruise discounts do we offer?

  • We simply offer a discount off the cruise lines' lowest rate, usually about 5%.

So for a $4000 cruise fare, our discount would be $200. It comes out of our commission, so there’s not much more to give. (That’s why the claim of 80% off is soooo ridiculous.)

  • And we offer free travel insurance for kids and discounted at around 50% off for adults, based on passengers' ages.
  • Yes, you ALSO get any and all past guest perks, amenities, onboard credits, promos offered by the cruise line - anything you would get by booking direct...PLUS OUR EXTRA MILITARY DISCOUNT!

Do the cruise lines offer any military cruise discounts and benefits?

They all do something different.

  • Carnival consistently has a special low rate just for the military on most of their cruises.
  • Royal Caribbean does! Just be sure to check the military box.
  • Norwegian has a new military discount program that could get you 10% off – ask us how to get that applied – it is cumbersome.
  • Celebrity often has a military rate that’s about $100 less than civilian rates. Celebrity has so many different fare codes, getting the right price with the perks you want is tricky! Let us help.
  • Disney occasionally announces a huge military discount on specific cruises. Usually not on holiday or summer-time cruises. Mostly on cruises during the offseason like in October, November, February, and March. We check for those daily and post all details on our Disney page.
  • Princess and Cunard offer onboard credit to every military member. The amount is $50 to $250, based on the length of the cruise.
  • The luxury and river cruise lines rarely have a discount specifically for military and veterans, but we book all luxury and river cruise lines and provide a discount for you when you ask us for a quote!

What is our cruise discount for military families and groups?

As always, you’ll get everything the cruise line is offering, plus your entire group will get our military and veteran discount, plus any extra amenities that we offer – usually onboard credits or specialty dining.

Our best advice for getting the maximum cruise discount on a 2024 or 2025 cruise:

Book as far in advance as possible!! Or, cruise in the shoulder season, which would be May, October or November.

Cruise bookings are back: All restrictions on cruising have fallen, so folks are coming back to cruising in droves.

Cruise ships are finally going out full. So if you have any intentions of cruising in 2024 or 2025, do start shopping now and get something on hold so you get in on the good deals.

How are our military discounts on cruises calculated?

The cruise lines often have anywhere from 3 to 20 different fare codes we could use to price out a cruise.

Some are higher but come with a beverage package or other amenities.

When you book on our site, our site automatically uses the lowest available fare code offered by the cruise line for that cruise.

Then, our site automatically subtracts a discount from that fare - and reveals this new discounted price to you.

If you want to get the perks that are offered with higher-priced fare codes, you’ll need to call us to book. And we’ll help you use that fare code, and then still get our discount applied.

How to find all possible military discounts?

All rates you see on our site already have a military discount added (which means, actually, subtracted from the cruise lines’ lowest rates). So, if you were to compare our rates with the cruise lines, you’d see that ours are lower.

Also, if any other benefits, amenities or perks come with that cruise, we’ll have them listed under that cruise in the ‘BONUS OFFERS’ section. Be sure to click the bonus offer itself to read the terms and conditions.

But honestly, the way you should go about this is to look for a cruise you’d like based on where you want to go, and when you can go. And then see what the best deals are that fit your needs.

How do you get all military deals or discounts applied to your cruise booking?

You don’t have to even try. We do that for you in three ways.

  • First, our online booking engine is configured to check for all military discounts from the cruise line.
  • Then our system automatically adds an additional discount from us.
  • Finally, one of our expert agents personally looks at every booking to make sure it has been done correctly, and all perks and discounts that could apply, have been applied.
  • Once we get a confirmation from the cruise line with your booking, we check that carefully to make SURE they’ve got all our discounts and benefits applied.

You know what - we do even more than that. So, you are in good, capable hands with us. You don’t need to worry about a thing. We got this.

The Military discount on your cruise is not the only reason you’ll be glad you booked with us!

Here are even MORE reasons why veterans and military folks like you should book your cruise with Military Cruise Deals.

We apply our military discount to all cabins that contain any friends and family of military personnel – so your whole group gets our discount!

If the price of your cruise comes down, we’ll get you their new lower rate or the difference in the form of onboard credits or upgrades. This applies only until the final payment date. Our online discount does not apply.

After the final payment date, cruise lines will not adjust the rates or provide onboard credit but may offer an upgrade at their discretion.

When you book with us, you pay the lowest possible rate – lower than if you’d booked with the cruise line directly, on-base agencies, or other online cruise websites.

We help you save even more money on travel insurance and shore excursions. We never charge booking or cancellation fees of any kind! The cruise line penalties apply as usual though!

We’re always available by phone – so you can get excellent customer service from a cruise expert every day of the week! We aren’t just order-takers. We are experienced cruise travel agents!

This is how we save you money even after your cruise is booked and paid for:

Between the time you book your cruise and your final payment date, we encourage you to check the rates offered by the cruise line. If it is less than what you paid, we will contact the cruise line and request that they re-fare your cruise to their new lower rate, upgrade you to a higher category, or provide an onboard credit for the difference.

Cruise lines do NOT always honor the request but we always try! Please note, Cruise lines will NOT re-fare after the final payment date and many of the new non-refundable deposit fares restrict making fare changes after booking! After the final payment date, cruise lines will not adjust the rates or provide onboard credit but may offer an upgrade at their discretion.

The lower rate will NOT qualify for our online discount.

Who qualifies for our military discount?

Our cruise discounts apply to all U.S. and Canadian active duty, retired, and honorably discharged military personnel (veterans) – and their friends and family. Even military members from OTHER countries are able to book most cruises with us. Email us to inquire!

Seniors who are veterans may qualify for all senior and military discounts available. Click here to see how to indicate senior and veteran status on our site.

While all spouses, dependents, family, and friends DO QUALIFY for the military discount from Military Cruise Deals, most cruise lines will often only allow the veteran and military discounts to be applied to the cabin which contains the member of the military.

Thus, getting the maximum military discounts and benefits applied correctly is sometimes not an easy and obvious endeavor.

We are experts on all the cruise line’s military and veteran discount policies: we know exactly when special rates and benefits pop up, who qualifies for them, and how to get them applied.

Transferring your booking to Military Cruise Deals

At Military Cruise Deals we often hear "Your offer is better than what I booked directly with the cruise line, how can I get your offer?"

The answer is quite simple as long as you booked directly with the cruise line and not with another agency.

If you transfer the booking to us, then you get to keep the same cabin, the same booking number, and the same rate as you have with the cruise line. You will also get to take advantage of our offer.

You lose NOTHING when you transfer to us. Any past guest promotions or perks you had will remain on the booking

Plus, we automatically check the rates for rate reductions at the final payment date for you!

Even your non-military friends and family can take advantage of this great opportunity! We will add our extra discount to ALL CABINS traveling with you, regardless of their military affiliation.
