Seville to Morocco Tour Description

Begin in Seville where you will be picked up by your private car close to 7 o’clock in the morning and set off for Tarifa, the city in Cadiz on the edge of the Strait of Gibraltar .

From Tarifa you will take a one hour ferry to the port of Tangier.

Once in Tangier you will meet your local guide who will be waiting for you outside the ferry, ready to across the city. First you will enjoy the unreal views of the Atlantic ocean and Mediterranean Sea , continuing to the Cave of Hercules , the beautiful natural caves on the coast.

From there head towards the Medina of Tangier . Along the way you will have the opportunity to see the iconic Camels of Morocco . Once in the Medina you will walk the picturesque streets of the historic city center, passing the interior of the huge market of the Grand Zoco where you will be able to shop, learn, and experience true commerce in Morocco.

Afterwards it will be time to to grab a typical Moroccan lunch and explore the tastes of North Africa. You must try the iconic Couscous or Tajin of the country.

After lunch you will continue through the city center and have the opportunity to visit some typical shops such as a textile cooperative and a trading pharmacy. Enjoy the wondrous views atop a typical Moroccan house and explore through Sultan’s Palace as you make your way through the coast.

You will arrive back in Tangier at the end of your visit and return to Tarifa by ferry. There your transport will be waiting to take you home to Seville, where you will arrive close to 23:00 (11 p.m.).

We will set off by private transport from Seville to Tarifa (province of Cadiz). From there we will take a fast ferry which will leave us on the African continent in less than an hour, after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar . If we are lucky, we will have the opportunity to see some cetaceans during the journey.

We will get off the ferry at the port of Tangier. There, our local Moroccan guide will be waiting for us and will lead us through the most picturesque places in the city for several hours.

Tangier offers a very rich cultural and historical heritage. During our trip, we will visit places as interesting as the Cave of Hercules, the Sultan’s Palace and the Medina . We will also have the opportunity to visit other places of interest such as a traditional pharmacy or an associated textile company, among others.

We will enjoy a typical Moroccan lunch before continuing our tour in Tangier within a highly cosmopolitan environment, which fuses recognizable ingredients from both African and European cultures. You will be able to taste typical Moroccan dishes such as Couscous or Tajine , as well as accompany the meal with a typical Arabian tea .

Our day  trip to Tangier from Seville will begin in Seville, where our guide will give you meeting point and will accompany our  transport to head towards the Strait of Gibraltar, specifically to the Cadiz town of Tarifa.

At this point we will take  a ferry that will bring us to the African continent in less than an hour, crossing the Strait and enjoying magnificent views of the sea during this journey between Europe and Africa , if you pay attention you can see even the dolphins that seem to greet us.

Once we arrive in the north of Morocco, a local Moroccan guide will join us. We then will board the transport in and first enjoy a panoramic tour and get to know the most emblematic places around Tangier.

You will begin the day with a hotel pickup and a beautiful and relaxing drive to the port town of Tarifa where you will board a ferry to Tangiers. Enjoying the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean and keeping a lookout for the dolphins that often accompany us.

Upon arrival in the Tangiers you will taken on a sightseeing tour, in and around the city. You will witness not only the older and more historical sites, but also how the influences from outside have shaped this city into a modern and thriving hub of commerce and trade.

We will drive along the Atlantic coastline to Spartel Cape, the most North Western point on the African mainland, and one of the focal points of Tangiers. The lighthouse was built in 1864 as part of the international agreement zone, cooperatively with nine European nations and the American and Moroccan government.

Continuing along the Atlantic coast we stop at what is know as Hercules cave, these caves date back to the Neolithic period, the cave is partially man-made and natural.  The construction of these caves is a marvel of engineering, considering the crudity of tools that these people would have had at the time, and leaves us wondering, did they have help? You also have the option at this time to take a ride on a camel along the beaches.

Returning to the city we stop for lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant, enjoying the diverse and very flavorful and typical cuisine of the region. After lunch we will begin a walking tour of the city starting in the Kasbah, with its beautiful museum (The sultan’s Palace), giving you an insightful  look into the history of the area from prehistoric times to the 19th century. After which we will show you to the Medina, where you will experience a typical Moroccan market, getting to interact with the friendly locals and perhaps also visiting a local bakery.

Prior to heading back and board our return ferry we will have some free time to shop for some souvenirs, take some last minute photos or perhaps just relax and have a drink.

Once we arrive back in Tarifa we will return to Seville and drop you off at your hotel to dream of your Moroccan adventure.

A very quick trip to Morocco. Early morning pickup by our driver Valdo, 2.5 hour drive to Tarifa, Spain, 1 hour ferry and your are in Tangier. Meet by our guide Bashir and our driver Achmed. Drive through the city to Cap Spartel, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Oceans, beautiful views and on a clear day you can see Gilbraltar. Next to the Caves of Hercules where they found cuts showing mill grind stones from 4000 years ago. From there back into the city and yes we hit the Casbah! https://youtu.be/bJ9r8LMU9bQ Wandered through the old streets, had a great tour of an old mosque turned into a museum, watched them bake bread in the communal ovens of the village bakery. Had a marvelois traditional lunch at La Terraza De La Medina. Tradition harira soup, a savory Moroccan soup made with dried legumes — lentil, chickpeas, fava beans. Then a tangine of chicken and a other of chicken, couscous and vegetables. All delicious, finishing with mint tea and a sweet pastry.

Next a wander through the Souk in Medina. A little bargaining a little shopping, some small trinkets, all good.

Back to the ferry terminal and a reverse trip back to Seville. A very long but enjoyable day! All arranged through Not Just A Tourist #notjustatourist.

We had an amazing day! Enrique, a wonderful driver picked us up near our Airbnb and drove us to Tarifa, chatting with us about Spain along the way. He was kind and helpful getting us to the ferry. He gave us some useful tips including to jump in the immigration line as soon as we got on the boat to get out passports stamped quickly so we could enjoy the ferry ride. Those at the end of the line had to spend the whole boat trip waiting in line. We were among the first off in Morocco and met by a wonderful guide and driver in Morocco. The guide spoke 5 different languages- we communicated in both English and Spanish. He was amazing. Very kind, thoughtful and full of stories about his country and it’s history. It was very interactive-we asked lots of questions and he tailored things to our interests. We saw the Hercules caves -Impressive! We went to the farthest northwest top in Africa-he took some great photos of the 3 of us and waited patiently as my son stopped to pet all the cats and dogs we crossed paths with. Then we headed back into the old part of town. There were many tourists in large groups -and we felt incredibly fortunate to have just the three of us and our guide. After wandering for a while and hearing great stories we stopped for lunch. The food was wonderful and the service amazingly friendly…could not have been nicer. Then off again to explore the markets -we stopped to get Henna painted on our hands -the store owner was a friendly woman who called her friend to come do it. She served us wonderful mint tea while educating is about Henna and painting crest designs on an arm/hand. Our guide then took us to a great natural skin product place where we bought various types of cactus oil and Árgan oils. Again such a wonderful experience. We had one last cup of tea with our guide and heard back to the ferry. What a special day! We were the first off the ship, sailed through customs ( again thanx to Enrique’s suggestions -others waits an hour to clear customs). We fell asleep in the drive home as the sunset turning the sky above Sevilla a beautiful pink and purple at 10 pm ! Am incredible day we will never forget!

The tour to Tangier was excellent. Baldo, our driver to Tarifa and Bilal, our guide in Tangier, did a great job. Even though the available time at Tangier was reduced due to the cancellation of our 11am ferry (bad weather so we took the 1pm), Bilal managed to show us all the places included in the tour, have time for a nice lunch on a typical Moroccan restaurant and take us back to the port on time to take the ferry back to Spain. We even had time to ride a camel on the beach. All the pre-tour communication with Mahsa was timely, very clear and took out any questions we could have. We hope to return to Seville and no doubt we’ll seek to arrange our tours with Not Just a Tourist. Highly recommended!

Fantastic time in Morocco! Our driver Fran picked us up right on time for the drive to the port. He spoke only a little English and I speak only a little Spanish but despite the language differences he managed to communicate the information we needed to know about the ferry transfer to Morocco. The driver was also friendly and drove very safely.

Our guide in Morocco (Bashir) was excellent and told us a lot about the history of the country. One word of advice- pack some snacks or eat something on the ferry because lunch is not until 3.

Once back in Spain, our driver picked us up right where he said he would and we got back to Seville around 11.

We took a day trip from Seville to Tangier, and it was an excellent experience. The person who booked the trip by phone was courteous and helpful in getting the trip on a day that we could fit it into our schedule. On the day if the trip, the driver arrived on time. He didn’t speak much English but our friends were fluent in Spanish, so communication was not a problem. He drove us the 2.5 hours to Tarifa and picked us up there for the return to the hotel. He also made sure we secured our ferry tickets and made it to the boat for the crossing. On arrival in Tangier, our guide and his driver met us for the tour. The guide spoke 5 languages, including English and Spanish. He was friendly and professional and full of information. The driver was also helpful and friendly as we navigated the tour route. The highlight of the tour was the walk through The narrow streets of the old Bab Kasba. We walked through the narrow streets of the old quarters and browsed old shops. We also had an excellent lunch at a restaurant in the old quarter. Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed the day and the interesting mix of modern and ancient.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed our day trip to Tangier! It was a once in a life time experience and our guide really opened up the world to us. The back streets of the Medina were especially fascinating. Our guide was very knowledgeable which was great. We took the optional camel ride and I’d highly recommend it – when else will you get to ride a camel ?! The guides were all very professional and everything from pickups to the ferry went without a hitch. We didn’t even mind the rain!

I loved the cathedral tour as a way to get grounded in the history. Our guide Ismael did a nice job pointing out the most important features in the cathedral. He was also fun. It is truly amazing and I can’t imagine not having the helpful context provided. I also loved the bell tower climb and views of the city. For me the combination with the Real Alcazar made it a little too long and a lot to absorb. If you are going to the Alahambra in Grenada you could skip the Alcazar. Crowds are crazy at Alcazar due to it being a site from Game of Thrones. If you have seen moorish influences before it won’t dazzle you as much as the Alahambra. Read more Written April 7, 2024

Grenada is the day trip to do, but it was sold out in our case, and I’m not sorry I went. The local company did a nice job with this tour overall, the guide was lovely, so I will give them a 4, but with this feedback 1) due to the national football match they had to combine 3 tours into one bus. I signed up for the English tour and found it crowded and distracting also having the French and Spanish group with us. I have never had this before with a TA recommended tour so I give them the benefit of the doubt that they were in a pinch. 2) for me the stop at the olive oil factory and the 2 white villages before Ronda was not that interesting and left not enough time in Rondo itself. I would prefer one village stop and then get to Rondo and have lunch there near the beautiful park. It would also be helpful for them to provide a map of Rondo with suggested locations to explore. Everything was figured out for us the moment we got on the bus. The average group size was less than 20 people. Maria made sure all of us enjoyed our day. She took us through all of the famous paths/sights and provided history along the way. The Mezquita visit had a separate guide who provided detail history of everything we looked at. They were ontime for everything and we didn't feel rushed. We could have gone to Cordoba by train on our own, but this was money well spent for the time we saved and the experience. As the meeting point of Europe and Africa, Tangier offers endless contrasts . Embark on a ferry, crossing the Gibraltar straight and be seduced by the exotic style of this gorgeous Moroccan city.

After picking you up at the agreed meeting point in Seville, we'll head by bus south of the Iberian Peninsula.

The bus ride will last two hours as we travel through the beautiful province of Cadiz . Then we'll arrive at Tarifa , where we'll take the ferry crossing the Gibraltar Strait : a 75-minute journey to the port of Tangier.

We'll see the picturesque streets of the old town, where you can still see the charm and the remains of its commercial splendour. The souks are the main attractions in this part of the city, markets where you can find all kinds of strange and unusual products, including a wide range of artisanal Arabic wares .

Then we'll fuel up with a typical Moroccan lunch , trying couscous , a staple of Northern Africa, made with wheat, corn or rice and often with lamb and vegetables. And you'll have the opportunity to try one of the other classics of local gastronomy: tajin, a meat-based stew, vegetables or beans. Drinks at lunch are not included.

Having eaten, we'll take another view of the Tangier old town from high on the fortress, whose walls hide infinite legends, revealing to us the city's long history from the ancient age to the modern day.

Then in the evening, we'll head back to Tangier to take the ferry back to Tarifa . From here we'll go to the Tangier port to head back to Tarifa by ferry. From here we return to Seville by bus, arriving around 10:30 pm .

• To travel to Tangier you'll have to present a valid passport.
• Citizens of some countries will need a visa to enter Morocco. You should be sure to have this document beforehand if this is the case. Information on nationalities which need a visa.
• Students must show a valid form of identification.

Discover the magic of Tangier

Tue - Thu - Sat - Sun (Approximately 15 hours.)

Our trip starts in Seville, from here we will go to the city of Tarifa (Ferry Tickets and transportation included). From here, we will take  a ferry that will take us to the African continent in less than an hour, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and enjoying magnificent views of the sea during this journey between Europe and Africa , if you pay attention you can see even the dolphins that seem to greet us.

A local Moroccan guide will join us once we arrive in northern Morocco . We will then board the transport and enjoy a panoramic tour. We will get to know the most emblematic places around Tangier.

We will visit the famous Hercules caves . We will look at the Atlantic coast to see how the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean separate, we will have a short stop to see some camels as a more representative symbol as well as how important it is within their culture, taking a small ride uphill with the most iconic animal of Morocco, the camel.

At the end of the panoramic tour, we will arrive in the centre of Tangier . We will leave our transport and begin a magnificent walk through the city of Tangier. We will be able to see how a multicultural city where Muslim , Jewish and Christian communities live in harmony.

Its magnificent traditions attract artists from all over the world. Halfway through our visit, we will stop at a typical restaurant to enjoy a Moroccan lunch and taste its fabulous cuisine, which includes dishes such as couscous or tahini.

After this pleasant gastronomic stop, we will continue our visit by discovering other corners of this city where North African and European cultures meet . We will have the opportunity to enter some of the hundreds of shops that line the streets.

This remarkable experience will allow you to visit a textile cooperative or a traditional pharmacy, or simply enjoy walking through such an important space, full of smells, colours and typical sounds.

The visit will end by returning to the port of Tanger to take the ferry back to Tarifa from where, already on the peninsula, we will return to Seville late at night, having enjoyed an unforgettable excursion.

I joined this tour to Tangier from Seville and totally fell in love with the country. At first I thought it was going to be two days in a stuffy, dusty tourist trap, but by the time I left, I had fallen in love with the culture. This tour really opened my eyes to the Moroccan beauty which I must say is a hidden gem!

Morocco is a beautiful country and I really enjoyed my two days there!
