When Netflix ordered the renewal for Manifest Season 4, it announced that the fourth and final season will consist of 20 episodes . However, the season is split into two parts. So, it seems unlike the previous seasons, Manifest Season 4 is more extensive and longer. The first season of Manifest has 16 episodes, while the second and third seasons went down by a few episodes and had only 13 each. The final season is going to be the longest. Originally, Manifest was planned to run for six seasons, which would wrap up the entire story, solve all questions, and tie up the remaining open-ended arcs of the characters. The fourth and final season of Manifest sees the return of a majority of the original cast members. At least, the ones who survived by the end of Season 3. But sadly, at the same time, we will be seeing the departure of some of the earlier cast members. The only confirmed departures from the show are that of Jack Messina and Athena Karkanis . Messina played Cal Stone in the last three seasons and will now be replaced by actor Ty Doran . Doran, who played a younger Cal in the earlier seasons, has been promoted to series regular. Athena Karkanis played Grace Stone, Cal and Olive’s mom, who dies at the end of Season 3.

Melissa Roxburgh returns as Michaela Stone, an NYPD detective and a passenger who was on Flight 828 with her brother, Ben Stone. Josh Dallas is back as Ben Stone, Michaela’s brother and co-passenger who is an associate professor of mathematics. J. R. Ramirez appears as Jared Vasquez, Michaela’s ex-fiancé who is also an NYPD detective. He was married to Michaela’s best friend but when she returned, he got divorced. Jared later got promoted to lieutenant. Luna Blaise plays Olive Stone, Ben’s daughter and Michaela's niece. Cal Stone is her twin brother. She and her mother stayed back when her father and brother went on Flight 828 with her aunt. Years later, when her brother comes back, she is older than him, but eventually, under strange circumstances, Cal catches up to her age.

Parveen Kaur is back as Saanvi Bahl, a grad student and researcher at Mercy Hospital who was one of the passengers on Flight 828. She is later recruited by the NSA to investigate the events of the flight. There was some doubt about whether Matt Long , who plays the role of Michaela's husband Zeke Landon, would be back in the final season. However, he has confirmed that he would be back for “some” parts of the final season. Holly Taylor will also be returning, playing Angelina Meyer, another passenger of 828 who gets locked up by her parents in Costa Rica when she returns after the event. She later moves in with the Stone family. After a strange turn of events, Angelina has a huge change of character and a sort of spiritual revelation. She then ends up killing Grace Stone and kidnaps Grace's younger daughter, Eden.

Apart from these returning regulars, Daryl Edwards , who plays NSA director Robert Vance and was a recurring cast member, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 4. He leads the Flight 828 investigation and has been working covertly to uncover the mysteries of the flight and a deep-rooted government conspiracy. The last we saw him, he was leading a new task force called Project Eureka to examine the wreckage of Flight 828 and find some answers.

The original plotline of the series itself is based on a time jump. The story takes off in 2013 and then jumps to 2018. Season 4 will involve yet another time jump, taking place two years after the end of Season 3. This seems quite logical considering how the events of the story are all aligning towards the death date in 2024.

Manifest Season 3 ended with Grace Stone dying after being stabbed by Angelina. But before her death, Grace gets reunited with her son Cal. Cal had previously disappeared after he touched the plane’s tailfin and then re-emerged as a teenager. On the other side of relationships are Michaela, Zeke, and Jared, where a love triangle has been brewing for a while. And, as is the case in such scenarios, a lot of old emotions are reignited, making their dynamics more complicated. We don’t get to see Ben at the end of Season 3, since he was trapped in his calling. Season 4 will explore his emotions and reactions to his wife’s death and daughter’s kidnapping. Will he come to terms with the facts of his life or seek vengeance is a question yet to be answered. Predictions are that his character might have a dark turn. Going back to Angelina, she is following her calling and remains firm on her opposing views to Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and Cal. It is likely that her character could become quite significant in the final season and might have to answer for her actions in the Season 3 finale. “We are now in a realm where we are talking about our passengers interacting with the divine , so Captain Daly is interacting with the divine,” creator Jeff Rake explained Bill’s current whereabouts to TV Insider . “Where has Captain Daly been since he bewilderingly disappeared a year and a half ago in story time? Whether it’s purgatory, whether it’s the netherworld, these are terms and concepts that Ben and others will struggle to understand,” he added. Rake also went on to reveal that Bill is at the exact place where the passengers of Flight 828 were upon disappearing from the Earth.

“That idea of the divine taking you away, but keeping you in a holding pattern — which is probably an apt flight analogy — as your ultimate fate is determined speaks to where Captain Daly has been. Let’s put it this way: Captain Daly has been exactly where the passengers as a group were for those five and a half years. Captain Daly has been exactly where Cal was from the end of Episode 312 when he disappears to when he returns right there at the very end of the season finale,” Jeff further added. Bill’s disappearance must have alarmed the viewers concerning Frank Deal’s commitment to the show. Will we see him again? Let’s find out.

Did Frank Deal Leave Manifest?

Manifest has finally explained why the passengers on Flight 828 disappeared.

Netflix has dropped the final batch of episodes for Manifest season four part two, the ending of the cult sci-fi series. It provides an explanation for one of the longest running TV mysteries.

The supernatural drama chronicles the lives of a group of aeroplane passengers whose flight mysteriously vanished from the face of the earth for five-and-a-half years. Then, it suddenly reappeared in the sky without its passengers realising any extra time had passed.

Over the next four seasons, they attempt to reintegrate into society, some of them developing special abilities, such as hearing guiding voices and visions of events yet to occur dubbed ‘callings’. The mystery of their disappearance and newfound abilities drive them to investigate what happened to their flight.

The passengers on the flight eventually discover that their disappearance, and subsequent abilities, are directly linked to a particular date in the future: June 2, 2024. On this “Death Date”, they will all be judged by a divine being and if the good doesn’t outweigh the bad, they will all be put to death (along with the rest of humanity). Some of the characters subsequently preach that their only chance of surviving the “Death Date” is to follow their ‘callings’ and act on them by doing good deeds.

Now, in the final part of the season, it’s revealed that the passengers weren’t actually capable of changing their fates at all. One character, Michaela, deduces that they were just a “bunch of random people, some good, some bad”, with one character, Saanvi, adding that they were “a statistical sample for a divine experiment”. There was no extra divine intention behind the selection of the passengers. It was all random.

The official synopsis for season four part two reads: “In the aftermath of Angelina unleashing a devastating volcanic fissure, the passengers face severe scrutiny in a world fuelled by 828er hate, no longer free to solve their own Callings without constant supervision by the unscrupulous 828 Registry.”

Originally airing on NBC for three seasons, Manifest made the jump to Netflix for a fourth and final season, with the first half of the season arriving on the streamer back in November 2022.

Series creator and showrunner Jeff Rake initially planned to make six seasons of Manifest , and despite that expectation being cut short, he previously said that “the series’ endgame won’t change at all”.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly after the series was saved by Netflix, he said: “When I’ve talked in the past about having a roadmap all the way to the end of the series, that didn’t mean that I had a roadmap for literally every single episode.

“I have a roadmap with a series of twists and turns and flags in the sand that we would ultimately hit in order to tell the core stories within our mythology and within our relationship drama. So it will not be a particularly difficult exercise to overlay that same exact roadmap onto 20 episodes. It will be quite organic.”

The record-breaking series may be landing at a new home, but there’s a full roster of familiar faces still on board

If you’ve ever been aboard an international flight, you know just how crowded those things can get. So naturally, the “ Manifest ” cast is pretty huge. First released on NBC and now streaming on Netflix, the record-breaking show follows the passengers of a plane that disappears mid-flight and lands five years later without explanation, or anyone on board noticing something was wrong.

But once they land, the Flight 828 passengers find their lives forever changed — and forever connected — through a series of visions dubbed “Callings,” which drive the 828ers to solve crimes, uncover mysteries and continually reunite thanks to the influences of a force they never fully understand.

“Manifest” is back with the final episodes in the mega-sized 20-episode fourth and final season, and as the series starts to pay off the promise that “it’s all connected,” many of the 828 passengers make their return, along with some new faces. If you’re wondering who’s who, not to worry, we’ve got a comprehensive Season 4 lineup of “Manifest” characters and actors you need to know.

Melissa Roxburgh as Michaela Stone, aka Mick

A survivor of Flight 828, Michaela Stone boarded the flight from Jamaica with her brother, Ben Stone, after a family vacation. She was about to be engaged to Jared Vasquez, a fellow NYPD cop, but returned to discover he had married her best friend during the five years she was gone. Though Jared divorced after Mick’s return, their relationship remained complicated as she fell in love with and married Zeke. Michaela resigned from the NYPD at the end of Season 3 due to increasing inter-department hostility towards passengers.

Canadian-American actress Melissa Roxburgh plays Michaela. Outside of “Manifest,” the 29-year-old actress is best known for the films Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012), and most recently appeared in “I Still Believe” (2020). She has also appeared in several The CW shows, including “Arrow,” “ Supernatural ,” “The Tomorrow People,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Valor.”

Josh Dallas as Ben Stone

Ben Stone is Michaela’s brother, who boarded Flight 828 with his Son, Cal, and left behind his wife Grace and daughter Olive during the five-year disappearance. A Mathematics professor, Ben dedicates much of his time to investigating the callings and the passengers of Flight 828. Because of his dedicated interest, Ben emerged as the de facto leader of the passengers, leading to disputes with passengers like Egan and Adrian who didn’t agree with his methods. At the end of Season 3, Ben’s wife Grace was murdered and his daughter Eden was kidnapped, leaving him in shambles.

Ben is played by Josh Dallas, best known for playing Prince Charming in the ABC series “Once Upon a Time” and originating the MCU role of Fandral in “Thor” before Zachary Levi took over the part. He has also appeared in episodes of “Doctor Who,” “Hawaii Five-0” and “CSI,” and films including “The Descent Part 2” (2008) and “Red Tails” (2012).

J.R. Ramirez as Jared Vasquez

Jared Vasquez is Michaela’s ex-fiance, who married her best friend Lourdes (Victoria Cartagena) after her disappearance, but divorced after Mick’s return. Despite their complicated history Michaela and Jared worked together at the NYPD’s 129th Precinct, where he quickly learned about the Callings when she started inexplicably solving crimes. Formerly a detective, Jared was promoted to lieutenant at the end of Season 2, and temporarily lost his position due to his support of the passengers.

Jared is played by J.R. Ramirez, who played Oscar Arocho in “Jessica Jones,” Julio in “Power” and Diego in “House of Payne.” Ramirez has also appeared in “Arrow,” “Emily Owens M.D.” and “24.”

Parveen Kaur as Saanvi Bahl

A brilliant doctor and passenger aboard Flight 828, Saanvi Bahl grew close to the Stones after they returned when she treated Cal’s cancer. She dedicates her time to researching the science behind the miracle of 828, which made her a natural fit for the NSA’s Project Eureka while it was in operation.

Saanvi is played by Canadian actress Parveen Kaur, who previously played Christine in “Beyond,” Dr. Asha Mirani in “Saving Hope” and Aanya Gupta in “The Strain.” She also appeared in “American Gods,” “Workin Moms” and “9-1-1,” as well as the films “White Night” and “American Hangman.”

Matt Long as Zeke Landon

Michaela’s husband, Zeke Landon, was not a passenger of 828 but experienced a similar phenomenon after he got trapped in a cave during a blizzard and disappeared for a year, only to return from presumed death. That means he had a shorter journey to his death date, which he survived by following his Callings. Since surviving his death date, Zeke has empathetic powers that allow him to feel and absorb what other people feel. Zeke used his powers to make a great sacrifice at the end of Season 4 and saved Cal’s life.

Zeke is played by American actor Matt Long. Outside of “Manifest,” Long is best known for playing Joey Baird on “Mad Men,” Dr. James Patterson in “Private Practice,” Dr. Kyle Sommer in “Helix” and Jack McCallister in “Jack & Bobby.” He also starred in “Sydney White” and Hallmark’s “Christmas Joy.”

Daryl Edwards as Robert Vance

An on-and-off high-ranking NSA officer who heads up investigations into Flight 828, Robert Vance was forced to fake his own death during a raid, which allowed him to continue investigating 828 covertly — until he got trapped in Cuba hunting down the tail fin and the government learned he’s still alive. That brought him back to the NSA, heading up Project Eureka while it was in operation.

Vance is played by Daryl Edwards, a veteran character actor with dozens of credits to his name, including “The Many Saints of Newark,” “The Americans,” “Daredevil,” “Rent” and “NYPD Blue”

Ty Doran and Jack Messina as Cal Stone

Ben and Grace’s son, Cal was aboard Flight 828 with his family and appears to have seen something during the flight that connected him more deeply with the Callings — so much so that he can glimpse the future, usually through the form of his drawings. Cal disappeared in Season 3 when he touched the tail fin, only to return as a teenager in the season finale, five years older and temporarily disconnected from the Callings before he learned his true strength as a Dragon. In that regard, he shares a connection with Angelina, who also has a profound connection to the callings.

Younger Cal was played by Jack Messina in Seasons 1-3 and as of the Season 3 finale, is now played by Ty Doran. Messina also appeared in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and the 2022 film “Over/Under. Doran previously played Peter Tanner in “American Crime” and Bryce in “All Night,” and appeared in “Queen Sugar,” “Chicago Fire” and “The Blacklist.”

Luna Blaise as Olive Stone

Ben and Grace’s teenage daughter, Olive was the same age as her twin brother Cal when Flight 828 disappeared. In the five years since, Olive grew up and grew attached to her mom’s new boyfriend, Danny, who became a surrogate father to her. She has dated T.J. and Levi, and grew close to Angelina before she betrayed her family. Though Olive doesn’t get Callings, she’s become one of the experts on the mysteries of 828, not just because of her family, but through actively researching every new lead.

Olive is played by actress and singer Luna Blaise, who previously played Nicole Ellis on “Fresh Off the Boat.” Other credits include “Concrete Kids” and “We Are Gathered Here Today.” She has also released two singles, “Over You” and “Secrets.”

Holly Taylor as Angelina Meyer

A fellow 828 passenger and relative latecomer to the series, Angelina was introduced in Season 3 and took up residence with the Stones after Michaela rescued her from her fanatically religious parents, who were keeping her locked away because they thought her callings were evil. After falling in love with and tragically losing Pete Baylor in Season 3, Angelina grew more and more unstable, and after she became convinced that the Stones’ baby, Eden, was her guardian angel, Angelina killed Grace and kidnapped the baby in the Season 3 finale, though Eden was ultimately reunited with her family. At the start of Season 4, Angelina has fused a piece of the Omega Saphire into her hand, making her extremely powerful — and more dangerous than ever.

Angelina is played by Holly Taylor, who is best known for playing Paige Jennings in “The Americans.” She also appeared in “The Good Doctor,” “Bull,” and “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings,” as well as recent films “We Still Say Grace” and “Rogue Hostage.”

Ali Lopez-Sohaili as Eagan Tehrani

A surprisingly late addition to the show considering how crucial his role has become, Eagan first appeared in Season 3 and has emerged as a wily antagonist to the Stone family. A former chess player with a photographic memory, Eagan is calculating and clever, though often low on scruples.

Eagan is played by Ali Lopez-Sohaili, whose recent credits include “The Unknown Country,” “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “The Black List: Redemption.”

Ellen Tamaki as Drea Mikami

Mick’s friend and former partner, Drea is an NYPD agent who has been very accepting of 828ers and the Callings. She joined the series in Season 2, taking over as Michaela’s partner after Jared, and quickly became Michaela’s “right-hand-man,” both at the station and as a friend. After Mick left the precinct, Drea became Jared’s partner — and friend with benefits.

Drea is played by Ellen Tamaki, who previously played Niko Hamada in The CW’s “Charmed” reboot. Recent credits also include the films “Fernanda” and “Inez & Doug & Kira,” as well as an episode of “Girls5Eva.”

Mugga as Bethany Collins

Bethany Collins was the Flight Attendant aboard Flight 828. She smuggled her cousin’s boyfriend Thomas into the U.S. for his safety on the flight, but when they landed five years later, her cousin had been missing for years. Bethany was taken by the FBI and returned at the end of Season 3 after Michaela saw her in a terrifying Calling. Bethany is married to, Georgia.

Bethany is played by Mugga, who previously played Marshal Langston in “Power,” “Reema Pell” in “Orange Is the New Black” and Dolores in “The First Purge.”

Jared Grimes as Adrian Shannon

An 828 passenger who first believed the passengers were doing god’s work and followed his callings to found a religion devoted to the mysteries of 828, Adrian later became convinced that 828 and the passengers would bring about the apocalypse and that the callings are evil disguised as good. Adrian aligned himself with Angelina in Season 4, Part 1 — until her mother nearly killed them both.

Adrian is played by Jared Grimes. A professional dancer who toured with Mariah Carey, Grimes is best known on screen for his work in “Manifest.” He also previously played The Wiz in “The Marc Pease Experience” and Jackson in the 2018 Korean drama “Swing Kids.”

Frank Deal as Bill Daly

The pilot for Flight 828, Captain Bill Daly had an especially rough time after they returned to the present day. Smeared in the press and blamed for the disappearance, Daly is driven to uncover NSA secrets surrounding the cover-up around what actually happens and takes scientist Fiona Clarke hostage, determined to replicate the events of 828, he hijacks a plane and flies into a storm with her, but just as he reaches the lighting the Air Force says the threat has been neutralized. However, Captain Daly returned for a chilling moment in Season 3 after the tail fin was returned to the ocean, materializing in the airplane at Eureka headquarters before both disappeared.

Captain Daly is played by Frank Deal, who previously played Gary Levine in “Gypsy” and Isaac Breland in “The Americans.” His recent credits also include “Better Call Saul,” “The Outsider” and “Your Honor.”

Garrett Wareing as TJ Morrison

TJ is a young Flight 828 passenger who grew close to the Stones — and became dedicated to solving the mysteries of the Callings — when he dated Olive in Season 2. TJ was away in Africa during Season 3, investigating the mysteries of 828, though he was there in spirit when he sent Olive a crucial missing piece of The Last Trial parchment.

TJ is played by Garrett Wareing, who previously played Billy in “Independence Day: Resurgence” and Zach Fordson in “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.”

Francesca Faridany as Fiona Clarke

An 828 passenger and a neural psychologist who was driven out of her field for the unorthodox belief that “insisting brains could be networked like computers” (sounds an awful lot like the Callings, huh?). She was kidnapped by Captain Daily and aboard the hijacked plane with him when he flew into a storm, seemingly shot down by armed forces.

Dr. Clarke is played by Francesca Faridany, who previously acted in “The Blacklist,” “FBI,” “Evil,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Black Panther.”

Athena Karkanis as Grace Stone

Ben’s husband, Olive and Cal’s mother, Grace and Olive weren’t aboard Flight 828 and had to learn to live without their lost loved ones before the 828ers miraculously returned. During those five years, Grace met and fell in love with another man, but ultimately chose to stay with Ben and reunite their family. When she became pregnant with Eden, Grace also began to receive callings, though ultimately, it didn’t save her in time. She was stabbed and killed by Angelina in the Season 3 finale, and died in Cal’s arms.

Grace is played by Athena Karkanis, an actress with an extensive resume that includes nearly 100 credits. Outside of “Manifest,” Karkanis is perhaps best known for playing Agent Perez in “Saw IV” and “Saw VI.” She also played Melody Cruz in “House of Cards,” Octavia Muss in “The Expanse” and Nadia in “Lost Girl.” Karkanis also has a voice acting history that includes “My Little Pony” and “Star Wars: The Old Republic” games.

Sydney Morton as Alex Bates

A married doctor, Alex Bates was having an affair with Saanvi and was supposed to be aboard Flight 828 with her, but changed her mind at the last minute after having doubts. Despite their complicated history, Saanvi contacted Alex for help with her research in Season 2 and it was revealed that they both still share feelings for each other, though Alex ultimately chose to stay in her marriage.

Alex is played by Sydney Morton, who previously appeared “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker,” Netflix’s “She’s Gotta Have It” series, “Younger” and “FBI: Most Wanted,” and played Meghan Markle in Lifetime’s “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace.”

Mahira Kakkar Dr. Aria Gupta

A scientist who worked with Vance and Saanvi at Eureka, Dr. Gupta was introduced in Season 3 and factored heavily into the arc surrounding the tailfin. She operates by her own code and faith, which ultimately led her to allow Ben and Vance to take the tailfin and return it to the ocean. Dr. Gupta was also the sole witness when Captain Daly briefly appeared in the reconstructed airplane before it disappeared from Eureka premises.

Dr. Gupta is played by Mahira Kakkar, whose previous credits include “Hank and Asha,” “A Suitable Boy,” “Orange Is the New Black” and “The Blacklist.”

Heidi Armbruster as Noelle Meyer

Angelina’s mother, Noelle, was introduced in Season 3 along with her daughter in a very dark storyline. Convinced that the Callings are evil, Noelle believes her daughter and all 828ers are doing the devil’s work. She and her husband kept Angelina locked up until a Calling led Michaela to rescue her.

Noelle is played by Heidi Armbruster, whose previous credits include “Younger,” “Revolutionary Road,” “Daredevil,” and “Ray Donovan: The Movie.”

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ’s government announced Tuesday it is imposing higher taxes on the wealthiest Canadians as part of the federal budget.

The budget proposes to increase the capital gains inclusion rate, which refers to the taxable share of profit made on the sale of assets.

The taxable portion of capital gains above $250,000 Canadian (US$181,000) would rise from half to two-thirds, which the federal government says will only affect 0.1% of Canadians and raise nearly $20 billion Canadian (US$14.5 billion) in revenue over five years.

“I know there will be many voices raised in protest. No one likes paying more tax, even — or perhaps particularly — those who can afford it the most,” Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said.

“But before they complain too bitterly, I would like Canada’s one per cent — Canada’s 0.1% — to consider this: What kind of Canada do you want to live in?”

Freeland presented the federal budget, which pledges $53 billion Canadian (US$38 billion) in new spending that she says is focused on economic justice for younger generations.

Freeland denied that her latest budget is mainly a political exercise — but nonetheless acknowledged that for anyone under 40 in Canada, it’s “just harder to establish yourself” than it was for the generations that came before.

Freeland delivered a budget that she said capped the federal deficit at $40 billion Canadian (US$29 billion).

Trudeau’s Liberal government is trailing badly in the polls amid concerns over the cost of living in Canada.

“This budget will do very little to improve Liberal prospects. They will be going down to defeat, and they know it,” said Nelson Wiseman, a political science professor at the University of Toronto. “Their only hope is if Justin Trudeau steps aside and a new Liberal leader is selected. And, even then, it would be difficult for them to prevail.”

UEFA EURO 2024 Trophy Tour continues through Germany

We’re just seven weeks away from the start of UEFA EURO 2024, and the festivities have already started in Germany as the Trophy Tour has been continuing to make its way through the ten host cities.

The event kicked off in Stuttgart on 22 March and has since been to Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen, with fans across western Germany getting the chance to see the iconic Henri Delaunay trophy and meet some special guests.

Excitement builds across the country

The second stop on the Trophy Tour was Frankfurt, where the silverware embarked on a photo tour through the city, including Frankfurt Arena, which will host five matches at UEFA EURO 2024.

The trophy was then put on display at the MyZeil shopping centre, where tournament ambassador Célia Šašić was in attendance alongside Host City ambassador and former Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Alexander Meier, who signed autographs for fans before taking part in a Q&A session with other local guests. Meanwhile, 11-time table football world champion Chris Marks showed off his skills, with two more tables available for fans to use.

The Tour then moved onto Cologne, which will also host five EURO 2024 matches. Tournament director Philipp Lahm accompanied the trophy on a photo tour ending at the German Sports & Olympic Museum, where fans were able to take pictures with the cup. Lahm then took part in a talk with Mayor Henriette Reker and Host City ambassador Toni Schumacher, who won the 1980 UEFA European Championship with West Germany.

In Düsseldorf, Lahm met Host City ambassadors Sandra Mikolaschek, a two-time Paralympian in para table tennis, and Selin Oruz, Olympic bronze medallist in hockey, following a photo tour taking in the sights of the city and inviting local football clubs to join in the fun. The Merkur-Spiel Arena will stage five EURO 2024 games, including the third quarter-final on Saturday 6 July.

The next stop was Dortmund, where fans were treated to an afternoon of fun family-friendly activities at Friedensplatz, including football-themed games and plenty of food and drink options. The trophy was paraded through the city, with stops including the German Football Museum and BVB Stadion, which will host six EURO 2024 matches, culminating in the second semi-final on Wednesday 10 July.

The trophy then made the short trip to Gelsenkirchen and the Arena AufSchalke, where four EURO 2024 matches are scheduled to take place. It was greeted at the stadium by Host City ambassador, 43-cap Germany forward and Schalke 04 legend Gerald Asamoah. Along with former teammate Émile Mpenza, Asamoah took part in a penalty shootout challenge before watching a tournament for local youth teams with mascot Albärt. Schalke players were also in attendance and signed autographs for the children, who could take photos with the trophy.

The Trophy Tour’s final stops

The UEFA EURO 2024 Trophy Tour now heads to the capital Berlin before making its last three stops in Leipzig, Hamburg and Munich, where it ends on 14 May, exactly a month before the tournament kicks off.

The Trophy Tour is playing an important role by bringing the festivities to supporters across Germany, while fostering ties with local organisations and supporting grassroots football.

Innovation and Collaboration for Samsung’s Sustainability Journey

Samsung is celebrating earth day by reflecting on the galaxy s24 series and spotlighting the work of young changemakers..

From designing the first Galaxy AI phone with recycled materials in certain parts 1 to collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Samsung is on a journey to open possibilities for people and the planet. We harness the power of innovation and strategic partnerships with likeminded organizations to advance our mission and deliver positive impact for a better future .

Finding the Balance between Innovation and the Environment

Samsung is reimagining how Galaxy technology is designed and packaged to do more with less when it comes to our planet’s natural resources. For the last decade, we have worked to innovate high-performance components that are made with recycled materials.

We took an important step in 2022 when we incorporated recycled discarded fishing nets , also known as ghost nets, in the Galaxy S22 series. Recycled materials can now be found in all Galaxy mobile products, including smartphones, tablets, PCs and wearables 2 . At the same time, we have expanded our use to a greater variety of materials, from several different types of plastics to metals and glass.

The Galaxy S24 series 3 takes these actions one step further. For the first time in any Galaxy device, we developed key device components with recycled cobalt, rare earth elements and steel. The battery 4 in the Galaxy S24 Ultra contains a minimum of 50% recycled cobalt, and 100% recycled rare earth elements 5 and a minimum of 40% recycled steel 6 were used in the speakers.

Samsung has a long history of addressing the pervasive challenge of plastic waste through our recycled material innovations, and recycled plastics continue to play an important role in the Galaxy S24 series . The Galaxy S24 series maintains our use of recycled plastics sourced from discarded fishing nets, water barrels and PET bottles.

The recycled ocean-bound plastic 7 material was created in partnership with global organizations who collected discarded fishing nets abandoned near the oceans. The nets’ properties were separated, cleaned and extruded before optimizing them into high-performance, recycled polyamide pellets. Similarly, the recycled polycarbonate and PET materials are sourced from discarded water barrels and PET bottles that were ground, filtered and melted down with other additives. This process helps us transform these fragile resources into high-performance optimized materials that uphold Samsung’s state-of-the-art design and high-quality standards. We also teamed up with other organizations to upcycle discarded Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) that was generated from shoe manufacturing.

This is a culmination of our continued efforts with our partners to transform fragile plastic wastes into high performance material used in Galaxy devices. With the Galaxy S24 series , our goal by end of 2024 is to help recover nearly 100 metric tons of recycled plastics 8 , which is equivalent to 10 million empty plastic bottles. 9

When it comes to recycled metal, the Galaxy S24 series incorporates recycled aluminum 10 that originates from scrap metal generated during manufacturing. The aluminum scrap is re-melted, filtered for impurities and then recycled to make components within Samsung’s product development process. With the Galaxy S24 series, our goal by end of 2024 is to recover about 110 metric tons of recycled aluminum, which is the equivalent of 9 million soda cans. 11

Additionally, the Galaxy S24 series comes in a packaging box made using 100% recycled paper material. By the end of 2024, our goals is to recover nearly 2,760 metric tons of recycled paper with Galaxy S24 series, which is equivalent of 552 million pieces of A4 paper 12 . If stacked on top of one another, that would be approximately the same height as 71 Burj Khalifas 13 , which is the tallest building in the world.

From the smallest components to the newest, most premium features, the Galaxy S24 series represents a significant stride in Samsung’s sustainability journey, and we remain committed to scaling these innovations in years to come. This work will help us shift to more circular designs and build technology that supports a more sustainable future.

Enabling a Global Platform for Change

We believe that preserving the future of our planet is not a solo job. We teamed up with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support young changemakers on the frontlines of climate change and enable them to deliver meaningful progress for our collective future. Through Generation17 14 , we elevate their platforms on the global stage and enable their success through mentorship, peer learning and networking.

Today, we want to spotlight some of our incredible Generation17 Young Leaders and their work to address environmental challenges through upcycling materials, advocating for environmental reforms, and concerts powered by renewable energy.

Máximo Mazzocco , a leading climate activist from Argentina, is the founder of Eco House, an NGO that specializes in educational and ecological restoration programs. Today it operates 40 environmental programs globally and educates more than 100,000 youth on environmental topics in Argentina every year. Recently, he advocated for the approval of more than 40 socio-environmental laws and organized digital communications campaigns for the environment that reached more than 150 million users. In 2023, Eco House conducted workshops in collaboration with other organizations to educate more than 60,000 state workers on environmental laws for the public sector. These trainings were the result of a law that EcoHouse advocated for called the Mandatory Ecological Education for State Workers Law. 15 The organization also launched Eco News , which is dedicated to providing quality socio-environmental information.

Tamara Gondo , a Young Leader from Indonesia, started her social enterprise, Liberty Society, to empower and upskill marginalized refugee women in Indonesia. Liberty Society provides tailoring and entrepreneurship trainings to produce goods made from upcycled materials. Upcycling materials is an important method to minimize waste whilst also reducing CO2 emissions through extending the lifespan of materials. In 2023 alone, Liberty Society has upcycled 2.5 tons of waste into more than 40,000 individual goods, set up four training-to-employment centers, and upskilled 225 women from marginalized communities. 16

AY Young , is a performer from the United States who created the Battery Tour to raise awareness around the importance of sustainable electricity and provide solar powered batteries to communities in need. He is also producing an album, titled Project 17, to support organizations working towards each of the 17 Global Goals. During Climate Week in 2023, AY hosted a preview performance for the album. His shows are powered by 100% renewable energy and since kicking off his tour, AY has donated over 100 solar boxes that power medical devices, fans, and lights in Puerto Rico, Haiti, Honduras and six African countries. 17
