Al Wasl Dhow

There are a number of boats leave from the marina area, this one was recommended by our hotel. We opted not to be picked up as it was only a 15 min walk. The boat was well presented, clean and tidy and the staff very helpful. The night view of the marina area is spectacular. Takes about 2 hrs. We didn't eat till about 9 pm but the food was very good and there was something there for all tastes. The entertainment was a guy who span round for 5 mins plus in a huge skirt thing illuminated with LEDs. Sound weird ! It was but also rather clever and fun. I would certainly recommend this company.

So My Fiancé and I booked the Glass boat dinner cruise on Groupons. When we got to Dubai we made reservations the company confirmed and the day of they send me an email saying that the original boat had technical problems and we was now changed to the Dhow Boat. I was a little disappointed but decided to go... so now we get to the boat there are no seats for us. We are standing there and the guy try's to move a couples two young kids from a table that they were sitting at so they can sit with their parents,the family argued with him and refused so then the gentleman tries to sit us downstairs where it was hot and poor viewing of the city. Now this is where it's gets crazy! We are standing there waiting for the gentleman to figure out better arrangements he moves a family of three from a table right by where we were standing thinking ok he's going to give us that table oh NO HE GIVES IT TO A COUPLE THAT JUST ARRIVED 10 MINUTES AFTER US!!! So we are still standing there confused and pissed off to say the least. So now the couple is like is this our table or theirs (meaning ours) they were confused and a little disappointed for us so they offered to let us sit with them which we did then; the unthinkable happened 5 minutes before the boat left to start the cruise the gentleman and another guy brought up a table and table linens so we said wow ok now they get us a table great... But oh no that table was for another family that had just arrived!! We were beyond disgusted at this point. However the plus side my fiancé got to meet a nice couple and seen a great view of Dubai city skyline and took some great pics!!! The food wasn't the greatest, they are unorganized, rude and have poor customer service!!

Ship buffet was not suitable to Chinese but Scene was good. I can say it is my first-time there. Okay to me.

There's a few dinner cruises to choose from and I'm not sure if they all follow the same coarse. We chose the "Alexandra" and were not disappointed. The food for me was nothing special, a buffet of simple dishes, if you want good food try one of the many restaurants in the vicinity. What made the evening for me was the cruise through the marina, it's simply amazing, you leave the marina and head out towards the Palm, before coming back along the coast and entering the marina again. Entertainment was provided after lunch, Arabic dancing followed by someone singing, but for me the cruise and the sights were so good that the entertainment wasn't really needed. Even though I have made a few negative comments I would highly recommend a cruise on the Alexandra

Everyone travelling to Dubai for he first time should do this. A very nice meal on a boat that is so decked out with Christmas style type of lights. They have entertainment after dinner with dancers and magic show. It is very relaxing and the food is fantastic

It is not to be missed in Dubai. Both options Marina and Creek are good specially for dinner. If full moon is available it will be bonus. Ask for open deck while making reservations. To avoid inconvenience specially in tourist season make a prior reservation.

Up until now, the creek and the adjacent city are called Old Dubai for the right reasons. But it is soon going to change. The creek harbor is a massive development that is underway. It will bring a new face to the whole area.

The biggest attraction in Creek harbor will also be the tallest building in the world once it is completed. Though we don’t know how tall it will be, the creek tower will surpass Burj Khalifa in height by a long shot.

While Bur Dubai’s side is the blend of modern and medieval, Deiraside is right in the middle. Most of the buildings in Deira were constructed in the 60s and 70s. Most notable are the Rolex twin towers, Deira Creek tower (not the Creek Tower), and the iconic National Bank of Dubai building. It is also where Spice Souk and Gold Souk are.

Watch the fishing boats sailing up the creek from the sea after a good catch from the dhow. There are boats carrying cargo docked near the souk. These boats are the main lifeline that keeps things moving in these busy markets. Abras criss-cross across the creek, ferrying men onboard them. The government now runs these Abras to keep up the tradition and transport people at a nominal price.

The dhow sails towards the sea at first until Shindaga turns inwards towards the creek. Then it is time for dinner. The food is just as good as the experience, if not better. You will not run out of options in this five-star gourmet dinner but maybe get a bit overwhelmed. Start with appetizers and savor through the main course up to the assortment of delicious desserts.

As the icing on the cake, the Tanoura dancer will be ready by the time you finish. Tanoura is a dance form traditional to the Middle East which originated in Egypt. In it, the dancer twirls from beginning to end, putting on a marvelous display of his heavy and colorful skirt. In between, he performs tricks with his props and lights the skirt with brilliant lights.

Deira wharfage is the furthest point inward Creek the dhow goes. From there, it sails back to the starting point, and the journey comes to a happy end.

Dubai Creek Dhow cruise is a visit to the past glory of Dubai. Those near the creek are the first skyscrapers in Dubai. And the most upscale place in Dubai some forty or fifty years ago. Bur Dubai and Deira were developed around a naturally formed waterway.

On the other hand, Marina showcases the most modern face of Dubai. It was planned and built from scratch over a decade ago. And it is full of pomp and glitter.

The creek is populated by ex-pats who can be seen going about their daily lives. Either side of the Creek is also the central marketplace in old Dubai. Therefore, the air there is more about people’s everyday lives except for some places like the heritage village and Al Seef, which are relatively new.

Marina is the exact opposite of that. People come to Marina to chill and enjoy. Most people you may see on the bridges and promenades are out there to have a good time away from their daily routine. Mostly you will see local Arabs, tourists and European ex-pats in and near Marina. So the hustle and bustle in Marina is anything but mundane.

One more factor you might have to consider is the price. Dhow cruise Marina is costlier than their creek counterparts. This is due to the higher docking fees in Marina.

So, which one to pick, in the end, comes down to personal preferences and budget.
