Red Hot Chili Peppers Extend 'Unlimited Love' Tour into 2024 with Support from Ice Cube, Kid Cudi and More

The rock group will resume their massive tour in support of their 12th studio album in spring 2024

Red Hot Chili Peppers “can’t stop” their touring momentum.

On Monday, the rock band featuring frontman Anthony Kiedis, drummer Chad Smith, bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante announced that they’re extending their Unlimited Love Tour into 2024. The band first kicked off the tour in support of their 12th studio album in June 2022, and after continuing the shows into 2023, they’ll continue the stadium run for a third year.

After playing two previously announced shows in Lincoln, California and Highland, California and a festival date at Tempe, Arizona’s Innings Festival in February, the latest North American leg of the Unlimited Love Tour will begin in late May. The “Californiacation” group will kick things off on May 28 in Ridgefield, Washington and then travel throughout the west and east coast. The string of 16 new live dates includes stops in both mid-sized and major cities, such as Salt Lake City, Utah, Tampa, Florida, Cincinnati, Ohio, Toronto and others.

The Grammy winners brought exciting guests with them out on the road on their first run of the Unlimited Love Tour — including A$AP Rocky , King Princess , St. Vincent, The Strokes and more— and their 2024 shows are no different. This time around, they’re also being supported by an eclectic mix of both hip-hop and rock acts. At select performances, they’ll be joined by rappers Ice Cube , Ken Carson and Kid Cudi , Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti & Egypt80 , Japanese punk group Otoboke Beaver , rock group Wand and indie band IRONTOM , who previously supported them at a handful of 2023 shows.

When the “Scar Tissue” band first launched the Unlimited Love Tour, it marked their first tour in five years and a reunion with Frusciante, 53, who exited the band for a period from 2009 to 2019. ( Josh Klinghoffer filled in for him during his departure.)

Upon the announcement of their most recent, hit album in 2022, RHCP shared a statement in a press release about what it was like working together with the core lineup for the first time since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium . "Our only goal is to get lost in the music. We spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could," the foursome shared. "We were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and once again, try to get better."

Tickets for the 2024 Unlimited Love Tour start off with a presale for Citi cardholders on Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. local time, which lasts until Dec. 7 at 10 p.m. local time. Actor Adam Scott ( Parks and Recreation ) and comedian Scott Aukerman (host of Comedy Bang! Bang! ) are joining forces once again as superfan Adam Scott Aukerman to geek out on their favorite bands. Their newest venture, R U Talkin’ RHCP RE: ME , focuses on the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The duo’s newest collaboration follows in-depth podcasts on R.E.M. ( R U Talkin’ R.E.M. RE: ME? ) and U2 ( U Talkin’ U2 to Me? ).

A post shared by Scott Aukerman™ (@scottaukerman) on Jul 1, 2020 at 7:35am PDT

The first episode , which dropped on July 1, offers a track-by-track breakdown of the legendary California band’s 1984 self-titled debut (produced by the late Andy Gill of Gang of Four) and their 1985 follow-up, Freaky Styley (helmed by funk legend George Clinton). Scott and Aukerman also discuss their own personal recollections of hearing the band’s music for the first time. According to a recent Instagram post of Aukerman’s, the podcast will offer a “comprehensive and encyclopedic compendium of all things Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

In an interview with Pitchfork last fall, Aukerman discussed his passion for music. “A lot of times I will put musicians on my podcast just because I want to watch them play,” he said of his long-running Comedy Bang! Bang! show. “People in bands have a really sly sense of humor and end up listening to a lot of podcasts, too,” he added.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, meanwhile, announced late last year that guitarist John Frusciante would be rejoining the band nearly a decade after his departure, replacing longtime guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

A teenaged Frusciante first joined the rock band in 1988, following the tragic death of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak. The young guitar phenom can be heard on Mother’s Milk (1989) and  Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), before departing and returning in 1998 for Californication (1999), By the Way (2002) and Stadium Arcadium (2006). Klinghoffer took over for the band’s next two albums – 2011’s I’m With You and their most recent release, 2016’s The Getaway .

During his time away from the Chili Peppers, Frusciante enjoyed a fruitful solo career, releasing 12 solo albums and seven EPs.
