THE MOST PERSONAL ANTELOPE CANYON EXPERIENCE

a man standing on a rocky hill

At Taadidiin Tours, we are a Navajo- and family-owned tour company. We are happy to announce the premiere of our documentary at the Phoenix Film Festival on April 12, 2024. The festival will take place at the Harkins Scottsdale 101, in Scottsdale, Ariz., and will run through April 14, 2024.

“Bad Indian” profiles the Tadytin Family and its history with the federal boarding schools. The documentary uncovers the countless atrocities against Indigenous populations that have remained buried by the passage of time.

Hastiin Tadidinii (known as the Corn Pollen Man), the great-grandfather of the current owner of Taadidiin Tours was an early victim of the boarding school system, but his story is not yet part of the federal investigation on Native American boarding schools. The documentary traces back to the 1800s and explores Tadidinii’s struggles with the federal government, including his murder as the federal government forcibly transported his children to a federally funded boarding school.

“Bad Indian” was directed by Joe Raffa, a frequent collaborator of production company Point in Time Studios. He is best known for his projects “Downeast” starring Greg Finley and Kirk Fox, and “Dark Harbor” starring Joel McHale. Through the compelling lens of the Tadytin Family, Bad Indian courageously exposes the harrowing legacy of federal boarding schools, shedding light on the unspoken horrors endured by Indigenous communities,” said Raffa. “I’m honored to have been a part of this poignant documentary that unveils a powerful narrative of resilience and unearths the painful truths hidden beneath the weight of history.

“Bad Indian” was produced and edited by Point in Time Studios, produced by Kellina Templeton, shot by Edwin Pendleton Stevens of The Defiant Ones, Downeast, and edited by Eric Leutzinger. Raffa is represented by Zero Gravity Management.

SKIP THE CROWDS & EXPLORE AT YOUR OWN PACE

TAADIDIIN TOURS of Antelope Canyon X

We booked a photo tour and it was my wife and I and our tour guide for 3 hours straight! We got to go into the canyon without ANYONE else present, got to take our time taking shots, and had groups pause before and after us so that I could get the shots I wanted...It was WORTH IT! Awesome guides who are knowledgeable and kind! No one enjoys crowds, so book your tour here!

Hands down the best tour for Antelope canyon! Other tour companies herd you in and out like cattle, this one did not! Our group wasn't rushed at all and our tour guide gave us all the best tips and advice on how to take the perfect pics! Thank you for Canon X for the best tour!

This was amazing, not crowded and staff were very kind. Our tour guide Tiara shared a lot of great facts about the canyon, she was great. She showed our group how to get the best photos and even took some for us. I would definitely recommend this tour.

We booked a tour with Antelope Canyon X Tours when we realized that Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon were already booked - but we were anything but disappointed! Antelope X Canyon is a different part of Antelope Canyon that is less touristy and has only been open for a few years. Our guide Kyndra was great, she even did a demonstration of how the caves were formed...Highly recommend!

This was one of the highlights of our 30 day trip out west. Our guide “Van” was knowledgeable and made the experience special. Did not rush and gave everyone plenty of time to make pictures. Awesome experience!!!

Grizzly Bear 399 And Her Four Cubs Walk Along A Roadway In Grand Teton National Park

Destination

Explore Grand Teton National Park through a different lens.  This full day private photography experience offers you the opportunity to enhance your photography skills while you travel through the national park with a professional photography guide.  The stunning backdrop of Teton Mountain landscapes and diversity of wildlife creates photo opportunities you’ll only find here in Jackson Hole.

This is a wildlife safari tour with a photography focus.

  • Premium Photography Safari
  • Personalized Instruction & Creative Direction
  • Grand Teton Landscapes & Wildlife Sightings

Our professional photography guides will maximize your goals and expand your skill set whether you identify as an amateur or professional photographer. Throughout the day, your guide will work with you to advance your skill set covering topics such as gear, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, lighting, composition, editing, and more.

Always keep in mind that landscape photography opportunities are subject to change due to weather conditions and wildlife photography is dependent on, well…wildlife, and sometimes wildlife can be finicky.  Your professional photography guide will be happy to help you with your photography gear, answer any questions you may have about photography, and share some of their best photography practices.

This tour is van-based with ample time out of the vehicle for photography and instruction.  Please come prepared for a variety of conditions and terrain.

A full day private photography tour begins with an early-morning pick up to maximize wildlife and landscape opportunities. Pick up time may vary based on the days weather and lighting conditions and our professional photography guides will cater the trip to your creative interests and goals. Whether you are aspiring to be a new-age Ansel Adams or just love capturing images in an awe-striking natural landscape, a full day private photography tour into Grand Teton National Park is a perfect opportunity to have an experienced guide lead you to prime scenic viewpoints and the most fruitful spots to find wildlife.

Your personal guide will navigate you through over 50 miles of roadway within the park with mindful attention to elements conducive to successful photography conditions, along which a variety of strategically placed pullouts can be found, each offering dramatic vistas of either winding rivers, crystalline bodies of water that mirror open sky, craggy, alpine peaks and the potential for spectacular wildlife sightings.  Working in this wild space also results in no two pictures being the same, even if snapping a photo from a popular spot such as the Snake River Overlook or the Oxbow Bend; the weather, clouds and lighting vary on a near daily basis. Our guides are well-versed in popular photography spots and will also help encourage you to experiment at each location and challenge you to produce unique work. Each tour will be customized to your physical and technical skills.

The unpredictability of wildlife enhances the experience as well.  While many animals, like bison, moose and pronghorn, have distinct habitats they are typically found amongst during certain seasons, there is always the chance of finding them in unexpected places that could create the set up for an entirely unique photo.  Then there are less frequently seen species, such as otters, wolves, great gray owls and grizzly bears.  These animals keep you on your toes, potentially darting along a river bank or dashing through an open field and vanishing before the click of a shutter.

To understand more about the seasonal nature of Jackson Hole’s wildlife, you can read more about the seasons and what you’re most likely to see in Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park or even Yellowstone at different times of the year.  If you have a certain subject in mind, plan your arrival accordingly in order to optimize your chances of seeing it in the wild.

Weather and light dependent, we will utilize the warmest (and often slowest) part of the day to review images, discuss successes, areas of improvement, and expand your knowledge of Lightroom. Our guides will not only put you in the right habitat to get your dream shot, but also help bring your creative vision to life during our editing workshops. One goal of the tour is to see you go home with several successful images that demonstrate your growth and understanding of photographic concepts covered on the tour.

It is important to note that appropriate gear for the season is necessary to accommodate for times when we will need to walk short distances in variable weather conditions.

What equipment should we bring for a full day photography safari tour?

Bring the photography equipment you are familiar with using on a daily basis. Before you head out, make sure you have fully charged batteries, including a spare for the day.  We recommend having extra memory cards on hand.  For landscape photography, a 14mm-24mm and 24mm-70mm lens are best.  For wildlife photography, a 300mm, 500mm and 600mm lens are best.  A tripod is optional; if you have your own, and would like to bring it, you may do so.

What should we wear for a full day photography tour in Grand Teton National Park?

For the summer season, the weather can be variable throughout the day. Early and late summer can experience wild temperature swings from early morning to midday. It’s best to come prepared with synthetic or wool layers that can easily be put on or taken off as the temperatures change. Make sure to include a wind/rain shell to keep yourself dry if needed. Sturdy shoes are a must. We will be in and out of the vehicle and crossing uneven terrain to get some of our shots. Hiking boots are a good option if you have them. If not, a sturdy walking shoe will also work just as well.

For the winter season, layers are a must. Choose lightweight wicking layers to wear against the skin and add insulating layers to keep you warm. A wind/snow shell is key in order to keep you dry. Sturdy waterproof snow boots with good traction should be worn with wool or synthetic socks to keep your feet warm and dry. Don’t forget to bring a wool or fleece hat and warm pair of gloves or mittens.

What's the best time of year for a Grand Teton photography safari tour?

Wildlife sightings vary throughout the seasons and there’s not one season that is better than another; it only depends on your photography goals. The diversity of flora and fauna in Grand Teton National Park is impressive; sometimes, you just need to know where, and when, to look. In the spring months (April, May, June) you’ll be more likely to see bison calves, grizzly bears, black bears and blue birds. In the height of summer (June, July, August), you might see bison and pronghorn. During the fall, (August, September, October), you could see black bears and moose. During the winter months (November – March) you may see elk, bighorn sheep, moose (possibly without antlers), coyotes and foxes.

5 Winter Photography Tips: Dealing with Three Exposures

December 28, 2016.

Winter is a time of paradoxes and extremes; landscapes covered in clean white snow are most beautiful; temperatures range from above freezing to well below zero, animals are wearing their finest winter furs, some animals are losing their adornments (antlers) and many scenes you will have alone as most folks are nestled comfortably in front of the fireplace. Capturing this winter beauty is an exercise of extremes. We must deal with three primary exposures; skin, camera and photographic.

Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls, Mono & Mirror Lakes and more

GRAND TETON

Explore with us one of the most amazing National Parks in North America.

Welcome to the home of the Granite Giants; where water flows freely and the flowers grow wild. Yosemite is a place incomparable to others, with meadows decorating the valley, hundreds of lakes, waterfalls as tall a 200 story building and tree’s that are the size of rockets. Even some European countries could fit inside this park, that’s just how big this place really is. With over 800 miles of trails; we have tailor-made an experience to best showcase Yosemite to the photographic eye. But no matter what path you take or which hike you embark on, there is aways an exquisite view to be captured.

Photographing Yosemite is an art of controlling light and capturing it in all its glory. Get your camera and tripod ready because you will come back with some amazing photos. You will be guided to premier locations as we chase the light, seek out natural beauty, and go where the weather goes.

This adventure is designed not only to guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light but to aid you in mentally visualizing a scene before capturing the decisive moment. Our aim is to raise your awareness and spark your creativity so that you not only go home with images to be proud of but use your new found skills to improve and expand your photographic technique in general. Apart from the technical aspect of learning your camera settings and capabilities, you will learn how to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary image by using your own creativity.

In addition, you will become knowledgeable on how to survey the landscape, and utilize and approach your environment. Our time together will include individual and group discussions, inspiring ideas, and great fun. We cannot think of a better location to express your creativity than the stunning beauty of Yosemite!

A quote from John Muir ~

“Yosemite Park is a place of rest, a refuge from the roar and dust and weary, nervous, wasting work of the lowlands, in which one gains the advantages of both solitude and society. Nowhere will you find more company of a soothing peace-be-still kind. Your animal fellow beings, so seldom regarded in civilization, and every rock-brow and mountain, stream, and lake, and every plant soon come to be regarded as brothers; even one learns to like the storms and clouds and tireless winds. This one noble park is big enough and rich enough for a whole life of study and aesthetic enjoyment. It is good for everybody, no matter how benumbed with care, encrusted with a mail of business habits like a tree with bark. None can escape its charms. Its natural beauty cleans and warms like a fire, and you will be willing to stay forever in one place like a tree.”

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

Yosemite   6 days, day 1 | fresno - tunnel view - sentinel meadow & cook's meadow.

We meet in the morning at 9 AM at our hotel in Fresno. After breakfast, we will have informal discussions on what our guests are trying to achieve in their photography, subject matters, styles and techniques. Included in the discussion we will discuss PWA’s “10 Guiding Principles of Photography” as well as our “THE ART OF SEEING” photographic technique.

From here we’ll set out on our journey north towards Yosemite. The drive has many opportunities to witness breathtaking scenery, so when inclined, we will take breaks for photography along the way.

We’ll enter the park via the South Entrance, as that is where we’ll come across a spectacular long tunnel that takes us through the mountains and once we are on the other side we will have a quick photo stop at Tunnel View where we will see a grand view of this immaculate park.

As we are nearing the end of the day, we will take a short drive/hike into Sentinel and Cooks Meadow where we will have the pleasure of photographing sunset. Cooks Meadow offers great views of the East and West of the park featuring Half Dome and Yosemite Falls. Trust us, there will not be a bad view in sight.

In the evening we will celebrate with our “Welcome Dinner” in Yosemite Park. (D)

Day 2 | Giant Sequoias - Bridalveil Falls - Glacier Point

After breakfast, our first stop of the day is at the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. It’s by far the biggest sequoia grove in Yosemite, home to hundreds of the handsome beasts, but the 1,800-year-old Grizzly Giant sequoia is worth the trip all by itself. Our hike is a gentle stroll through the forest taking a variation of photographs along the way, capturing these Giants in their best form. A good idea for this location is to bring a wide angle lens, something below 24mm. After we get back from the shuttle ride to Yosemite valley we will head back to our hotel for lunch.

Once lunch is finished, we will have a very short hike to the base of Bridalveil Falls to capture long exposures/quick bursts of the water falling upon the rocks. This is a good spot to create dramatic black and white photos as the rocks add a strong edge to the bright, white waterfall.

When we get back from the hike there will be some downtime to explore the valley on your own. We will meet up again around 5:45 pm to head up into the mountains towards Glacier Point. This spot is known for its spectacular view of Half Dome and is one of Yosemite’s famous Granite Peaks. There are numerous spots at Glacier Point so we will make time before sunset to chose our location to capture the most enchanting spot during Sunset’s glory. Dinner will be back at the hotel. (B)

Day 3 | Lower Yosemite Falls - Tenaya Lake - Mono Lake

Breakfast will be at our hotel and afterwards we will look through our images and discuss the trip to date. We will also have a Q & A about editing techniques. Today is all about photographing water, from waterfalls to lakes. We start our days journey by taking a short stroll over to Lower Yosemite Falls; the waterfall is an astonishing 2,425 foot tall and if there was a building built in the same size it would mass to 200 stories high. What’s amazing about this location is that the water pressure hitting the bottom of the falls will blow your hat right off your head. Once again bring a wide-angle lens option so that you are able to create dramatic landscapes with a full view. We will take a variation of photographs from close up quick shutter exposures to wide long exposures.

Once we have had our fun and exhausted all possibilities for photo ops, we’ll head back to the hotel dining area for a quick snack and pack bag lunches with us to take along on our next adventure. We head east towards Mono Lake but have a first photographic stop at Tenaya Lake. This lake is extremely picturesque and from the west side of the lake the view looks back upon those Granite monsters we just left. This spot will be the prime place to capture a postcard picture moment. Once we are done shooting we will have lunch while enjoying the gorgeous view from Tenaya Lake.

For the Finale of the day we will arrive at Mono Lake. This lake is home to many Tufa Towers and the only thing you can really compare it to would be walking through a cave with stalactites and stalagmites, with the only exception being that there is no cave blocking the gorgeous sunsets. Having the lake reflect the colors is sure to you leave you breathless. This will be our sunset photo location and an image that no one will forget. (B)

Day 4 | Vernal Fall - Wawona Swinging Bridge - Mirror Lake

What Yosemite has done brilliantly is create paths and walkways throughout the park; making sure that all parties interested can see the beauty within its walls. That’s why today we will focus on Yosemite’s footbridges and walkways. Our first spot is at Vernal Falls Footbridge. Only a mile from the trailhead we arrive at the bridge, crossing the North to the South bank of the Merced River. This locations offers spectacular views both down and upstream the river. The view upstream overlooks Vernal Fall. We will work this spot from select angles, capturing the best placement of the falls in our photographs.

After all photos have been captured, we move onto our next bridge; The Wawona Swinging Bridge. If you like Indiana Jones then you will love this bridge as it actually swings. During this time of year, the Wildflowers will be blooming and will make for amazing foregrounds in our images. This part of the Merced River is also used as a swimming hole so if you’re in the mood, bring your swimsuit along. We will also take a walk through the woods around this area to feel a bit of serenity. At this point of the day, we will head back into the valley and grab some lunch to refuel.

For our final sunset of the adventure we have left it blank so that we can all decide on which area we would like to finish the trip. The options will be, Glacier Point, Lower Yosemite Falls or Cook’s Meadow. Either one of these spots will make for stunning photographs. The reason we’ve left it undecided is because not every sunset is a winner, but if we experience a dull sunset on one of our shoots then we have the option to head back there for round two. Once we are all finished for the day we will head back to our hotel for our final night together. As we are winding down the trip, this will be the opportunity to assess our photographs and be educated on the best retouching techniques for each setting. (B)

Day 5 | Panorama Trail (Optional)

Today we begin our most difficult hike of the trip; the Four-Mile Trail. There may be no better way to see what’s so fabulous about Yosemite Valley than to hike the Four-Mile Trail. Starting near the swinging bridge and finishing near the south valley rim of Glacier Point, this hike offers extraordinary views at every turn. We will see all the amazing landmarks that Yosemite Valley has to offer, but from views that have not been shown on a postcard. You have to take this hike to be able to view its glory.

In the beginning, we will pass through giant trees and a field full of wildflowers. From here we enter the winding trail of the hike which will yield a gorgeous view at every turn. What’s so wonderful about this hike is being able to view Yosemite Falls at each turn from a new unique angle. We will need to bring lunch as this will be a hike that will take up most of our day. Once we arrive at the top next to Glacier point we head down the mountain, but on a separate trail that offers different views; The Panorama Trail.

There are memorable views almost everywhere along this hike. On this side, we will gaze such beauties as Nevada falls from above and Illilouette Falls; moving around them as we go getting variations of photographs. These two hikes will take up our entire day, so be prepared to have snacks, sunblock and plenty of water to bring along.

After such a long hike we will bask in our accomplishments back at our hotel as well enjoy our wonderful “Farewell Dinner”. (B) (D)

Note: This hike is optional. Those who are not comfortable with this hike will be guided to alternate locations throughout the day. Everyone will return to the hotel in the afternoon in time for our dinner.

Day 6 | Yosemite - Farewell

On our final morning, we will have a group discussion, review our past week’s photos, trade contact information and say goodbye. We urge you to extend your stay at Yosemite National Park or elsewhere in California and practice all the photography skills you learned on this Photo Workshop Adventure. (B)

These guys know what they are doing! We were with Pangolin for 5 days on a recent two stop photo safari. Pangolin handled the Chobe part of the trip in Kasane and on the Pangolin Voyager houseboat and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish.
This is truly the way to do a game drive if visiting Chobe National Park. The people of Pangolin are amazing and turned this game drive into one of the most memorable events in my life!
This was an incredible trip. Pangolin arranged everything and deserves top scores for coordinating the logistics.
We can’t talk more highly of Pangolin and thank them very warmly for a wonderful holiday.
I loved being in and on the Chobe. The amount of game and birds one gets to see really close up is amazing. I am just a happy snapper who enjoys seeing wildlife but with Guts’ fun instruction in easy to grasp chunks I was surprised how much I learnt and the quality of some of my pics.
The photo boats are incredible, well equipped with all the resources you need to create magical wildlife photography. If you come to the Chobe and don’t do a photo tour with Pangolin you’re missing out!
A wonderful experience, since the photo teachers and guide are very very knowledgable. They bring you in the best position to take your pictures, they know their equipment very well, and by experience, they can almost ‘read’ animal behaviour.
Never, and I mean never, was so excellent guided!
This was the most memorable activity of our holiday! What a treat to be able to use such wonderful camera equipment, with tuition and a guide, in such an amazing location.

2024 Dolomites Photo Tour

The dolomite alps in the fall.

Join us for a Dolomites Photo Tour , where we will take you to the most breathtaking locations in the Dolomitic Alps. We will visit the most iconic spots, such as the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo, as well as some hidden gems that we have discovered over the years. We’ll also have the opportunity to capture our Milky Way galaxy in locations that are ideal for astrophotography and have minimal light pollution.

We run our Dolomites photo tours in October , the time of year when the alpine trees turn orange and red, and you can shoot a vertical Milky Way setting behind the mountains.

St. Maddalena church in Val di Funes during fall season in the Italian Dolomites

On this Dolomites fall photo tour , we will focus on capturing the most spectacular landscapes in northern Italy during the times of day with the best light.

From huge, rugged mountains, jagged peaks, and alpine hills to impressive blue lakes, picturesque churches, and dark, starry skies, The Dolomites in northern Italy is one of those breathtaking destinations you must visit at least once, especially in late October when the golden autumn colors are in all their fall glory!

We will spend eight magical days visiting iconic mountain views like Cinque Torri, Tre Cime, Alpe di Siusi, and Passo Gardena; photogenic blue lakes like Lago di Braies, Lago d’Antorno, Carezza, and Limides; and beautiful alpine valleys like Val di Funes.

We will personally help you capture the best possible images during our Dolomites photography workshop and show you the best techniques to shoot any type of subject in different light conditions: sunrise, sunset, midday, twilight, night, etc.

2024 Dolomites Autumn Photo Tour Itinerary

Our Dolomites photo tour itinerary will be flexible.  We know the area very well, so our goal will be to photograph the Dolomitic landscapes under the best possible conditions depending on the weather forecast.

DAY 1: Dolomites Photo Tour

This Dolomites autumn photo tour will begin at the Venicegreen Agriresort hotel, where we’ll meet at 9:00 AM . This hotel is very close to Venice Marco Polo Airport. After a meet and greet with the rest of the group, we will drive north towards the Dolomite mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site , which takes roughly 2 hours to reach.

Once in the mountains, depending on the weather and time, we will visit the tour’s first location, which will either be Lake Carezza or a more secluded area with spectacular views of Mount Civetta, depending on time and weather conditions.

After our first photography location, we will drive to our first hotel in Ortisei, where we will spend the next two days.

Dramatic peaks of Lago Carezza covered in clouds and soft light

DAY 2:  Dolomites Photo Tour

On the second day of our Dolomites fall photo tour, we will start the day by photographing  Seceda.

Seceda offers one of the most beautiful mountain experiences you can enjoy in the Dolomites. Everything in Seceda is a feast for the eyes, especially the impressive ridgeline that is surrounded by some of the most photogenic peaks in South Tyrol.

To enjoy the best conditions, we’ll take the first cable car of the morning to be on the top of Seceda ready for a morning photography session. Photographing the morning light at Seceda is a special experience.

After breakfast in one of the local huts in Seceda,  we will move to our next location:   Val di Funes. In  this famous alpine valley, we will photograph cozy little houses and picturesque churches, like St. Johann and St. Maddalena. We will spend the entire day there shooting from different perspectives and waiting for sunset. Hopefully, we’ll get to see the Odle Mountains turn red from the alpenglow.

If conditions are good for Astrophotography, we will  shoot the Milky Way  and do some astrophotography if conditions are clear.

DAY 3: Dolomites Photo Tour

On the third day of our Dolomites autumn photo adventure, we will photograph the sunrise at the beautiful Alpe di Siusi .

Alpe di Siusi is a vast plateau with many alpine hills, little huts, pines, and huge mountains in the background. It offers a lot of photography options for capturing different types of landscape images. If conditions are good, here you’ll photograph one of the most classic images of the Dolomites with the fog over the rolling hills and the mountain huts.

During the day, we’ll visit Passo delle Erbe , where after a short walk, we’ll find a beautiful viewpoint with our subject, the mountains, in the background, and roots in the foreground serving as leading lines.

Then, we will move to our sunset location : Passo Gardena . This valley in the Dolomites is surrounded by endless meadows and jagged peaks. Here, starting in September, you can enjoy a phenomenon that is also known as “Burning Dolomites,” a wonder of nature where the sun, just before setting, illuminates the most impressive peaks in the valley.

After sunset, we will drive to our hotel near Lago di Braies.

Cabins in Alpe di Siusi covered in thick morning fog

DAY 4: Dolomites Photo Tour

The next morning of our Dolomites photo workshop, we will wake up early to enjoy the sunrise at Lago di Braies . This is arguably one of Italy’s most photogenic locations and the most beautiful of the Dolomitic lakes, with its emerald waters and the striking natural landscapes that surround it.

Our next stop will be another location where we will photograph the  “ Piramidi di Terra ” (Earth Pyramids); a group of natural hoodoos that is one of the best hidden gems in the Dolomites. Here we will photograph the hodoos from different viewpoints before lunch.

After lunch, we will arrive arrive in  Cortina D’Ampezzo , the biggest town in the Italian Dolomites, where we will spend the next three nights.

We will check in our hotel and go for a sunset session at the majestic Passo Giau , where we’ll photograph the sunset in an open valley overlooking some of the most imposing peaks in the Dolomites, such as Marmolada, Tofane, Cristallo, and of course, the imposing Ra Gusela. If conditions allow, we will do a Milky Way session from Passo Giau .

Lago di Braies during the fall season

DAY 5: Dolomites Photo Tour

On the fifth day of this Dolomites photo adventure, we will wake up early to capture the sunrise over the breathtaking Cinque Torri , five massive rock formations located in the heart of the Dolomites. This is an ideal location to capture the sunstar and the nice pinky clouds of the sunrise with endless photo opportunities.

After our morning shoot and a break in the hotel, we will continue on our Dolomites photo trip to the famous  Tre Cime di Lavaredo . Here, we will embark on a 1.5-hour scenic hike to this imposing spot, where we will photograph the most iconic peaks in the Dolomite Mountains. Our plan will be to  photograph the sunset as well as the Milky Way  if the skies cooperate.

This is one of the best places for astrophotography in the trip, so we might change the date of this plan according to the weather conditions so we can maximize the chances of clear skies and a succesful Milky Way session.

Cinque Torri covered in fog and moody sunrise

DAY 6: Dolomites Photo Tour

The next day, we will drive up to two of the most iconic lakes in the Dolomites, Lago di Misurina and Lago Antorno . We will enjoy the sunrise and capture some long exposures during the golden morning light. These lakes are especially photogenic during the fall, when the pine trees around the lakes turn gold.

During midday, we will do a photo editing session so we can work on the images taken during the trip. We will show you how to edit different type of images, from basic edits to more advanced techniques and also night photography shots.

In the evening, we will take a short hike up to Lago di Limides, a small, beautiful lake with outstanding views of the impressive Tofana di Rozes mountain range. We will explore the area and wait for the sunset light.

Reflection at Lago di Misurina during sunrise

DAY 7: Dolomites Photo Tour

On the seventh day of our Dolomites photography trip, we will take a private 4WD taxi to Lago Federa . This lake is one of the most spectacular locations in the Dolomites during the fall, with endless larches and a lake surrounded by the distinctive mountains of Croda da Lago . Getting there requires a considerable hike, so we will take 4WD private transportation so we can be there in time for sunrise.

After this, we’ll leave Cortina D’Ampezzo and drive through Selva di Cadore , where we will photograph some picturesque churches with the fall colors, and Allegue , a small population by the Allegue Lake considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Dolomites.

Later, we will drive southwest on a spectacular road to Passo Rolle , where we will take the road to Refugio Baita Segantini, a quiet place that is ideal for capturing the sunset over a small lake with marvelous views.  After the sunset session, we’ll do a last group dinner close to Passo Rolle.

Aerial view of Lago Federa during late fall season

DAY 8: Dolomites Photo Tour

On the final day of this Dolomitic Alps photo tour, we will capture the sunrise in Passo Rolle and the surrounding area.

After breakfast, we will pack up and drive you to Venice Airport so you can catch your flight back home. Expect to be at Venice Airport no earlier than 12:30 PM , so you can take flights that leave at 3:00 PM or later.

Photographers photographing mountain peaks in the Italian Dolomites

The average temperature in the Dolomites in October is 46ºF (8º C), but in the mornings, it can drop below 32ºF (0ºC). You should be prepared for all kinds of weather and bring warm clothing. Rainstorms are also very common in the Dolomites. Some of the things that we recommend bringing on this Dolomites photography tour are:

  • A system of layers to wear (base layer, fleece, windproof layer, shell).
  • A good pair of breathable boots to keep your feet warm and protect your ankles while walking over rocks and uneven terrain.
  • A wool hat and gloves for the night and sunrise sessions.

You will find more items and details on the official list of recommendations that we provide upon registration.

The currency in Italy is the Euro (EUR). We recommend obtaining some euros in your home country, although, if that is not possible, you can purchase some at Venice Airport.

In almost 100% of places in the Dolomites, you can pay by credit or debit card, so you won’t need much cash for the trip.

Documentation

Please check if you need a visa to visit Italy. We can help you with this.

Accomodations

During this Dolomites photo tour , we will be staying in the best hotels close to the photo locations , in shared rooms with private bathrooms. There’s also a limited number of private rooms available.

These hotels are not only close to the photography locations but also have beautiful views.

Some of the hotels we’ll be staying at have indoor (and outdoor) swimming pools, spas, and saunas, so we encourage you to bring your swimsuits to be able to enjoy these amenities during our free time.

Transportation

During this Dolomites Photo Tour we’ll travel in a minibus with ample space for all participants to travel comfortably from one spot to another. It features inclined seats, air conditioning, heating systems, and more.

We’ll have a professional and accredited driver who is experienced in navigating the winding and narrow roads in the Dolomites.

Mini bus with driver

This is not a hiking photo tour, and most of the locations will be next to the parking lot, we will also use cable cars and 4WD cars to get closer to certain locations and minimize the amount of hiking we need to do.

However, we are in the mountains, and therefore there are some moderate hikes that we’ll take and that you should consider:

What expenses should you consider for this Dolomites Photo Tour?

You should book your flight to/from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

The price of round-trip flights to Venice from Europe is around $100-300 USD and flights from the US cost approximately $400-700 USD.

We recommend this article to find the best flights to Venice Airport from your current location.

Meals are not included, except for breakfast.

Every day, we will have breakfast at our hotel and have a big meal at dinner in one of the local Italian restaurants. Northern Italian food is delicious, so this will also be one of the highlights of this Dolomites photo tour.

During the day, we will eat snacks/picnic to maximize our time for photography.

We recommend preparing to spend about $40-$70 USD on food per day.

Parking, Taxis, and Cable Car Fees

All the parking, taxis, and cable car fees for locations, such as Seceda, Lago di Braies, and Tre Cime di Lavaredo, are included in the price of the tour.

What makes this Dolomites Photo Tour unique?

Unforgettable, frequent questions about our dolomites photo tour, what level of photography knowledge should i have to attend this photo tour to the dolomites.

Whether you are experienced or just starting out in photography, you are welcome to join us, and I am convinced that you will progress very fast. Together, we will get you back home with a greater and deeper knowledge of many photography topics.

Once you sign up for the workshop, we will discuss your skills and goals for this tour, and I’ll organize a teaching plan so you can make the most of this experience. You’ll also receive access to Dan’s Capture the Milky Way course so you can start preparing your astrophotography before the trip.

WHAT PHYSICAL SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN?

Most locations are a relatively short walk from the parking lot. The longest hike we will take is Tre Cime, which is a 1.5-hour scenic, moderate hike from the parking lot and another 1.5-hour hike to get back. Some other locations, such as Lago di Limides, require hikes of just about 30 minutes. We consider most hikes to be moderate difficulty, and the terrain will be mostly flat, with some uphills.

We will be driving, walking, and shooting a lot during the tour, so we recommend being in good physical shape to be able to enjoy this experience.

AM I TOO YOUNG/OLD FOR THIS DOLOMITES PHOTO TOUR?

There is no age limit. This trip is perfect for anyone  over 18 years old who wants to photograph the Dolomites with us.

CAN MY NON-PHOTOGRAPHER COMPANION JOIN US ON THE TOUR?

Non-photographer companions are welcome to join the tour, and they need to book a spot under the same price and conditions as any other participant. (We don’t allow non-participant companions tagging along with the group). We have had plenty of non-photographer companions over the years and all of them enjoyed an amazing experience. As long as they enjoy nature, beautiful landscapes, and are a bit patient with the schedules of a photo tour, joining the trip can be a great experience regardless of the shooting.

CAN I USE MY DRONE?

Capture the Atlas is  drone-friendly . Both instructors are experienced drone pilots and can help you with your drone photography.

The Dolomites are a paradise for flying drones and we highly recommend bringing your drone if you like aerial photography.

However, flying a drone should always be done following local policies and at one’s own risk. To learn about local drone policies in Italy, you can visit DJI’s website or directly visit the Italian Civil Aviation Authority .

The actor admitted that he has yet to start filming Imaginary Friends, but is full of anticipation for the opportunity to work with Krasinski again saying, "Well, I haven't started working on the film with him yet, but I can't wait. I'm anticipating just joy and fun. I mean, he's the best, and he's a great director. I'll put him through his paces, you know? I'll make him work for it. Floods Engulf Porto Alegre

May 8, 2024 JPEG

Strong storms bringing high winds and torrential rain began to sweep into Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state, on April 27, 2024. In some areas, more than 300 millimeters (12 inches) of rain fell in less than a week, overtopping river banks and leading to widespread, destructive flooding.

The OLI (Operational Land Imager) on Landsat 8 captured an image (above) of Porto Alegre’s flooded downtown area on May 8, 2024. Floodwater inundated the historic district, caused the international airport to close, swept through major stadiums, and left several highways impassable.

The MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) on NASA’s Terra and Aqua satellites acquired these images (below) on May 6 and April 20, during and before the flooding. Water overtopped the banks of the Jacuí, Cai, and Sinos rivers, inundating parts of Porto Alegre, the state’s capital city. Floodwater also spilled into several other cities, towns, and farmland upriver. Runoff, stained brown with suspended sediment , is visible flowing into the Patos Lagoon, south of Porto Alegre.

April 20 - May 6, 2024 JPEG

The flooding caused havoc throughout Rio Grande do Sul state. More than 160,000 people have been displaced, and scores of people have died, according to Rio Grande do Sul’s agency for civil defense . The state is a major producer and exporter of soy, rice, wheat, and meat. Farmers are already reporting extensive damage in several areas, and analysts expect that damage to silos and other storage facilities, transportation networks, and ports will disrupt grain exports.

According to Brazil’s National Institute of Meteorology (INMET), the weakening El Niño contributed to the region’s extreme rains by helping steer cold fronts toward Rio Grande do Sul and concentrating atmospheric instability over the state. Unusually warm water in the South Atlantic Ocean boosted humidity levels, setting up a collision between warm, humid air from the Amazon and colder air to the south of the state that strengthened the storms, INMET said .

The extreme rainfall fits a broader pattern of change that climate scientists expect to see in this region due to the rising atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases . This part of South America is projected to see significant increases in annual precipitation totals and annual 5-day precipitation maximums by 2050 , according to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change . The projections are based on simulations from the CMIP-6 ( Coupled Model Intercomparison Project ) multi-model ensemble, a project that incorporates modeling results from the GISS ModelE , a general circulation model developed by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

NASA’s Earth Applied Sciences  Disasters program  area has been activated to support partners responding to the event. The team is using satellite data to map landslides and identify regions without power. As new information becomes available, the team will be posting maps and data products on its open-access  mapping portal . Among them is NASA’s MODIS Near Real-Time Global Flood product, which showed extensive flooding in and around the city on May 6, 2024 (above).

Stormy Daniels Testifies About Her Encounter With Trump in Lake Tahoe

The porn star met the future president at a golf tournament, and she said she was invited to his suite. Her account of what happened next eventually resulted in Donald J. Trump’s criminal trial.

Stormy Daniels on Tuesday told jurors her account of a sexual encounter with Donald J. Trump in 2006, an episode that ultimately resulted in the former president’s criminal trial.

Despite the objections of Mr. Trump’s lawyers, Justice Juan M. Merchan ruled that it would be up to jurors to decide on the credibility of the porn actress, whose $130,000 hush-money agreement with Mr. Trump before the 2016 election is at the heart of the charges against him. Prosecutors said she would not, however, describe his genitalia, as she did in her book “Full Disclosure.”

Mr. Trump denies they ever had sex.

The fateful meeting of Mr. Trump and Ms. Daniels nearly 18 years ago took place at a celebrity golf tournament on the banks of Lake Tahoe in Nevada. Mr. Trump was competing there, and Ms. Daniels was working at the event to promote a porn studio, Wicked Pictures.

This account is drawn from versions of her story that Ms. Daniels has told in the past. She first described her interactions with Mr. Trump in a 2011 magazine interview. The magazine, Life & Style, agreed to pay her $15,000 for her story, but she never collected because Mr. Trump’s then fixer, Michael D. Cohen — who is now expected to be one of the prosecution’s primary witnesses — had the story killed before publication.

The interview was eventually published in a related publication, In Touch Weekly, in early 2018 after The Wall Street Journal revealed her hush-money deal . She described the episode again in her book, which was published later that year.

Ms. Daniels has said that at the tournament, she rode with Mr. Trump in a golf cart while he was playing, and he later asked for her phone number and invited her to dinner.

Ms. Daniels and Mr. Trump were photographed at the tournament together. She was 27 then. He was 60. He had married his third wife, Melania, the year before, and their son, Barron, was a few months old.

That night, she has said, she arrived at Trump’s hotel penthouse suite in a gold dress and gold heels and found his bodyguard, Keith Schiller, standing outside. She went in and found him watching television on the couch in pajamas and slippers.

“Does Mr. Hefner know that you stole his outfit?” Ms. Daniels has said she joked, referring to Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner.

Ms. Daniels has said they ate dinner in his room and talked, and he asked her about the porn business. He asked her to sign one of her movie DVDs, and said she reminded him of his daughter.

Then, she says, he told her she should be on “The Apprentice,” his reality show. Ms. Daniels says she scoffed at the idea that a porn star could be on the show, but he insisted he could make it happen. Mr. Trump’s lawyers have said that they intend to argue that his interactions with Ms. Daniels concerned only her possible appearance on the show.

After she went to the bathroom, Ms. Daniels has said, she emerged and found him on the bed, and they had sex.

Mr. Trump finished 62nd at the tournament. He and Ms. Daniels met on several occasions after that, and he continued to promise he would get her on to his show, but they never had sex again, she has said. And he never put her on “The Apprentice.”

Van Hunt Pays Tribute to Halle Berry on Mother's Day with Cheeky Photo: 'I Wasn't S'posed to Post That!'

Berry is mother to two kids, 16-year-old daughter Nahla and 10-year-old son Maceo

Van Hunt is celebrating  Halle Berry  with a sweet — and sexy — tribute.

On Sunday, May 12, the singer-songwriter, 54, shared a post on Instagram in honor of girlfriend Berry, 57, on Mother's Day. In the photo, the Catwoman alum can be seen posing nude on a balcony, surrounded by plants as she faces her body away from the camera and gives a sultry look over her shoulder.

"Happy Mother's day from the bottom... of my heart," Hunt joked in the post's caption, adding, "Oh s---, I wasn't s'posed to post that!"

"Butt...u hav to admit thassa bada--... mutha right there!" he concluded the caption.

Berry and Hunt — who first went public with their relationship in September 2020 — have three kids between them. The actress is mom to 16-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela with her ex Gabriel Aubry, and 10-year-old son Maceo-Robert, whom she shares with ex-husband Olivier Martinez. Hunt is a father to a teenaged son, Drake.

Although the pair aren't married — though Barry has teased that they want to tie the knot eventually — they've been candid about their love and their support for each other as a happy, blended family.

Back in early 2022, the Oscar winner spoke with AARP The Magazine about how she believes she's "found my person" in Hunt .

"My son  Maceo on his own did this little commitment ceremony  for us in the back seat of the car. I think he finally sees me happy, and it's infectious. It was his way of saying, 'This is good. This makes me happy,' " Berry said at the time.

"It was a very real moment for all of us," the  Bruised  director continued. "I teared up, Van was fighting back tears. Even Maceo knew he'd said something poignant. I have two children, Van has a son. As a mom living this modern, blended family, all I care about is that my kids are okay with my decisions."

Berry and Hunt are also open about their passion for each other on social media. In March, Berry took a moment to wish her boyfriend a happy 54th birthday .

“Don’t count your candles baby, just enjoy the beautiful glow! Happy Birthday with ya fine a--💥,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of them together on Instagram.

Berry also shared a rather saucy post on Instagram for Valentine's Day , teasing that Hunt and her would be having some romantic fun that day.

The actress shared a playful video of Hunt while he was on a business call. "It's Valentine's Day and he's WOOORRRKKIINNNGGG! But tonight he'll be working on me 😂Happy Valentine's Day everyone! ❤️."

The video showed a split screen of Hunt on the phone and Berry making silly faces as she reacted to his conversation, telling the camera, "Money, honey!"
