Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management | TU

BTTM course, which stands for Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management, is a four-year course offered by Tribhuvan University (TU). The program comprises 126 credit hours, spread over eight semesters. Its objective is to produce skilled professionals in the field of tourism at the first and middle levels in the country.

Nepal, known as a paradise on earth, has consistently been recognized as a top tourist destination in various international journals and magazines. This highlights the significance of the tourism sector in our country.

Therefore, it is evident that travel related subjects have immense potential in Nepal. Among the various courses available, BTTM is highly prioritized due to its comprehensive coverage of topics essential for becoming a proficient tour professional.

Objectives of Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management

To fulfill the demand for skilled professionals in the travel and tourism industry, both in the public and private sectors, Tribhuvan University offers the BTTM course. This course aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Enhance understanding of the industry's operations through theoretical and practical approaches.
• Appreciate the importance and functions of tourism marketing, development planning, measurement, and administration.
• Acquire the skills necessary to handle international tourist service operations, including trekking and rafting program management, as well as domestic and international air ticketing and reservations.
• Comprehend the theoretical and practical aspects of travel and tourism industry administration and operations.

• Provide a foundation for further studies in the tourism field

The BTTM course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the dynamic travel and tourism industry.

Admission Requirements in Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the BTTM course, the candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of the intermediate level (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum of second division in any stream from a recognized University/Board/Institution by Tribhuvan University (TU).
• English should be a full paper (200 marks) in the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
• Fulfill all the requirements while completing the entrance exam form.

Entrance Exam:

Candidates are required to take the Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by Tribhuvan University (TU). The entrance exam consists of four types of questions:

• Verbal Testing
• Logical Reasoning
• General Knowledge
• Quantitative Ability

To pass and be selected for the next stage, students need to score a minimum of 40% marks. The next stages include group discussion and interviews. The final admission is based on the merit list, which is prepared by considering 50% of the CMAT score, 30% of the 10+2 or equivalent examination score, 10% of the group discussion score, and 10% of the interview score.

Fee Structure

The fee structure of BTTM in Nepal under TU is relatively affordable compared to other programs. The fees range from NRs. 1,50,000 to NRs. 2,50,000. For detailed information on fees, individuals can visit the official website of the colleges or contact the administration.

Career and Scope

Once you complete the BTTM course and earn the degree, you will have access to a wide range of jobs and opportunities. You can work at governmental or non-governmental jobs, private or public sector, or start your own ventures.

Eligibility requirements for enrollment in programs of IST College:

A. FHS Diploma in Hotel Management (Bachelor level)

Students who have successfully completed a 10+2, High School Diploma, PCL, 'A' Level or equivalent with at least D+ Grade are eligible to enroll in this program.

Step 1 – College Visit

The dedicated team of IST College is always ready to offer counseling to provide in-depth information. The College will provide overall information about the course structure, course perspective, fee structure, property visit, internship facility, opportunity after the completion of the course, and other facilities.

Step 2 – Form Submission

After the counseling, if the student wants to pursue the course the following is required:

• Completed and signed enrollment application form;
• A copy of Curriculum Vitae/Resume including special interests and activities;
• A Copy of Citizenship;
• 3 recent Passport size photos;
• A Copy of SLC Mark sheet;
• A copy of School Leaving/Transfer Certificate;
• A Copy of Character Certificate – SEE/SLC;
• A Copy of +2 Transcript;
• One Motivational Essay regarding your choice to study Hotel Management at IST.

Step 3 – Entrance Examination

• There will be a written examination of 1.5 hours.
• There will be a psychometric test to check the competency level of the candidate.

Step 4 -   Group Discussion and Personal Interview

• Candidates who pass the written examination will have to participate in the Group Discussion. This process will help the candidate to express their views about the given topic
• After Group Discussion the candidate will have to go through one on one Personal Interview. 

Step 5 – Selection for Admission

• Selected students will be issued with an Enrollment Slip.
• During the admission time student will also be given a Commitment Letter regarding the Code and Conduct of IST which needs to be signed and returned during admission.
• The student will get admitted once the required fee is cleared.
• Orientation and class commencement dates will be announced accordingly.

Eligibility for BTTM in Nepal
