Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Ball

The Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball is a superb lower-spinning premium golf ball. The penetrating flight will please those who want to lower their flight and while aimed at slower swing speeds, this ball was capable of handling driver swing speeds above the 105mph mark.

Penetrating ball flight for additional distance

Generous amount of short game spin

MindSet visual technology

Doesn’t produce enough spin from the rough with irons

Why you can trust Golf Monthly Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test .

Bridgestone has been making golf balls for a while now but it’s only really been since Tiger Woods joined the brand as an ambassador that it gained a serious presence in the golf ball market. Tiger , alongside PGA Tour players Jason Day and Matt Kuchar , use the Tour BX golf ball but this review is about the Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball - a ball designed for golfers with driver swing speeds under 105mph who want to increase their distance from the tee.

As a golfer who typically swings the driver at around 116mph, I channelled my inner Fred Couples for this review, swinging with a slower, smoother tempo to see what performance I would experience and if it could be considered one of the best golf balls for slower swing speeds . As it happens, the Tour B RX golf ball is actually the choice of the aforementioned 1992 Masters champion.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Balls

I tested this ball at the same time as testing the Tour B RXS and it was immediately noticeable that the RX ball was built for added distance compared to the RXS golf ball. The feel was much firmer off the face through impact. The brand has introduced a gradual compression core which allows for high initial ball speed and low spin. This was certainly evident on the golf course with the driver, seeing a high but penetrating ball flight through the air.

I struggled with the ball wandering from my target line when the wind picked up with the RXS golf ball but there was no such issue with the RX ball. It felt like there were good levels of stability with this ball and even when I made a more aggressive swing at my normal swing speed, the ball didn’t climb up like I expected to and performed just as well as other premium golf balls I have tested in the past year.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Ball Review

One area where I feel as though I struggled a little with the Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball was from hitting iron shots from the rough. Where this ball did produce slightly less spin, I feel as though I struggled to control the ball a little when hitting from the first cut. I saw a lot of balls fly fairly low with a lack of stopping power, which made it difficult to hit greens having missed the fairway.

Where I saw the RXS ball perform so well around the greens because of its soft feel, I was expecting the RX golf ball to be slightly harder to control and with less spin due to its firmer feel but that wasn’t the case. While it does feel firmer with a wedge or putter in hand compared to the RXS ball, it features the same Reactiv Smart Cover technology which is designed to create friction and keep the ball on the face for longer - thus creating more spin. I’m someone who prefers a firmer feeling ball around the green anyway, like the Titleist Pro V1x and some of the other firmer feeling best golf balls .

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Ball Review

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Ball features MindSet Technology

Bridgestone has now added the ability to purchase its Tour ball franchise with MindSet technology, which I absolutely love. This three-stage process gives you a solid pre-shot routine which you can follow implement using the visual cues on the golf ball. This was created with tour player feedback through Jason Day who is regarded as one of the best putters in the world. While I normally putt with a line on my ball and it took a while to focus on a dot, it gave me a repetitive cycle to revert to before striking my putt.

I would say the Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball is perfect for golfers of all abilities and to be honest even all swing speeds. Despite the ball aimed at golfers with driver swing speeds of 105mph and less, I would argue that the lower spinning nature of this ball means that golfers of swing speeds up to 115mph would be absolutely fine to use this ball without suffering from excessive spin.

Coming to retail at $49.99 these aren't the cheapest golf balls on the market but they do offer superb performance, while retailing a touch cheaper than other major manufacturers' premium golf balls.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Ball Review

Bridgestone tour b rx golf ball.

The new Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball is the “distance and accuracy” option for “low-to-mid” handicap players, from the Tour B lineup.  Looking to hit bombs while hitting more fairways ?  The Bridgestone Tour B RX golf ball might find its way into your bag this season.

Bridgestone Tour B RX 1

How Does it Feel?

Now, normally when moving to a distance ball, you would typically think that you’re going to sacrifice a good amount of feel.  That being said, with the Bridgestone Tour B RX , you don’t have to.  It doesn’t have that rock-like firm distance-ball feel off of the driver, which is a big win for me.  Irons feel crisp yet smooth, providing ample feedback off of the face.  Wedges?  A nice, medium “click” at impact.  Off of the putter face?  It feels close to perfect.  Not too clicky or firm, yet not so soft that you don’t get any response.  As far as feel is concerned, the Bridgestone Tour B RX was the “Goldilocks” for me – not too firm, not too soft, but just right.

Off the Tee

The Bridgestone Tour B RX touts “distance and accuracy,” and it delivers off the tee.  I found myself to be a good few yards further than my typical gamer, which never hurts.  We’re not talking exponential increases (unless you’re currently playing a ball that’s a terrible fit for you), but for those with mid-to-high swing speeds, there could be some nice gains.  The accuracy is what was the big improvement for me.   I tested this ball at the PGA West Stadium Course, which isn’t “wide open” by any means.  However, I pleasantly found myself in more fairways than usual, or just off of it.  For a course that tight, that’s a big win for someone as erratic with a driver as I am.  Was it just a good driving day?  Nope, because I played my gamer the front nine and sprayed it all over the place.  Chalk up another plus for the Tour B RX.

On the Approach

As mentioned above, the Bridgestone Tour B RX has a happy medium feel between soft and firm with irons.  I will admit, I didn’t see any noticeable distance gains from my irons.  What I did notice was distance consistency , which is big for me. Consistency is the hardest part of golf, and knowing how far you your irons and being able to count on that number when it matters is key.  Again, we can chalk that up to the “accuracy” trait.

In terms of holding greens, this ball isn’t going to necessarily hit and stop like a Tour-level spin ball, but then again, this ball isn’t designed to be a spin ball.  I’m not a “Tour Spin” player as it is, so I didn’t expect this either.  What I will say is I still didn’t have any problems holding greens.   It’s not like it rolls out an extra twenty feet versus a spin ball, just a few more.  For naturally high-spin players, I wouldn’t see this as an issue at all.

Around the Green

Coming into this review, around the greens is where I thought the Bridgestone Tour B RX would be the most challenging.  Those expectations were quickly dismissed.  Again, I already mentioned how much I liked the short game feel, but the performance went well too.  I know, I just talked about how I wasn’t getting that “drop and stop” spin from my longer irons.  My wedges just performed differently.  I saw a tad bit more roll out versus a Tour-spin ball, but the amount of release/roll was predictable.  This allowed me to maintain consistency and control around the greens.

Once I adjusted to the release, I got predictable results each time (barring my occasional blade across the green, amirite?).  I had no problem checking the ball up on the greens, or stopping it on pitches.  Off of the putter, again, this ball was just right for me.  It had a close-to-perfect feel which is great for consistency .

Final Thoughts

Following my review of the Bridgestone Tour B RX , I’m officially calling myself a fan.  I would definitely classify myself as a Low-Mid handicap (float between a 6 and 10) which the Tour B RX is designed for.  Simply put, this ball just does it all for me.  The feel is great, the performance is consistent, and I loved the results .  I’ve tried to kick my gamer out of my bag many times in the past, yet ultimately keep coming back to it.  I think the Tour B RX could be the ball to finally kick it out of the bag for good.

2022 Bridgestone Tour B X, Tour B XS, Tour B RX & Tour B RXS Golf Ball Review

  • on May 11, 2022

50 Words or Less

The 2022 Bridgestone Tour B golf ball line up continues to lead the industry.  A Tour ball for every player type and swing speed.  Modest changes over the 2020 versions.

Check out the 2024 Bridgestone Tour B golf balls HERE

2023 tour b rx

Introduction

In 2020, the new Bridgestone Tour B golf balls were the surprise stars of the PGA Show [full review HERE ].  They debuted a new cover material that allowed the ball to spin less in the long game and more in the short game – the holy grail of golf ball performance.  Two years later, there’s a new Tour B.  Can it possibly outperform its show stopping predecessor?

2023 tour b rx

On the green, the feel of the Bridgestone Tour B line up has been tweaked slightly.  The Tour B X remains the firmest of the group , though it’s still slightly softer than a Pro V1 to me.  As in previous years, the Tour B XS is noticeably softer than the Tour B X .  The sound off the putter is quieter and duller.

The change comes on the RX side of the family.  In the past, the RX has been very similar to the XS and the RXS has been far and away the softest.  For 2022, Bridgestone has matched the feel of the RX to the X and the RXS to the XS.  This gives players with sub-105 MPH swing speed the ability to have a slightly firmer, more responsive ball on the green.

With wedges and irons, I found that the Tour B X and Tour B RX had a soft, solid feel with a slight click at impact.  The softer versions, the XS and RXS, feel even softer and don’t have any click.

2023 tour b rx

Matt Meeker and I tested the 2022 Bridgestone Tour B golf ball line up independently to see how they performed for a player under 105 MPH and one at/slightly above 105 MPH.

For Meeker , there was a 500 RPM bump with the Tour B RX over the Tour B RXS .  This didn’t produce significant differences in carry or total distances, but the Tour B RX did fly higher and had a steeper landing angle.  This cuts against the expected results and is more evidence that every player should test a few different models.

I tested all four models and found all of them within the average to high range for short game spin .  The Tour B X stood out as the lowest spinning, though not by a lot.  Tour B XS spun more for me on pitches and full wedge shots, but the gap was only a few hundred RPM.  The gap between the RX and RXS was quite small for me – both spun at the same level as the XS.

2023 tour b rx

For Matt Meeker , the Tour B RX and Tour B RXS were “amazingly similar” with the mid irons through the driver .  I suspect this is due in large part to his robotic consistency.  Also, Meeker’s swing is not extreme.  Players with very steep or shallow angles of attack will likely see large performance differences between models.  Ditto for players who severely deloft or “flip” the club at impact.

In my testing with Foresight GCQuad , I got great speed and consistency from the Tour B X and Tour B XS .  Tour B X has iron spin in the average range for a Tour ball, Tour B XS was about 500 RPM higher, on average.  It’s always worth mentioning that I’m a fairly low spin player, so you may find larger gaps between the models.  Neither the Tour B RX or RXS are my prescribed fit.  That showed in less consistent speed and spin numbers.

Moving to the driver, I got the same exceptional ball speed from the 2022 Tour B X and Tour B XS that I got from the previous generation.  As expected, I saw less spin from the Tour B X compared to the XS.  Again, the difference was not huge for me – a couple hundred RPM.  It may be larger for higher spin players.

2023 tour b rx

Two out of two Matts agree that the 2022 Bridgestone Tour B golf balls are fantastic.  Not only is each ball a great performer, but the messaging is clear and sensible.  As Meeker said, “You can play the same technology as Tiger, but refined for your game.”  Check out one of Bridgestone’s many ball fitting options and find the best one for your game.

When referencing swing speed, is that for driver?

' src=

Thanks for the review. Did you happen to hit the RX and RXS off the driver also? I’m interested to know if there are ball speed differences between that and the X and XS.

Additionally, did you happen to notice launch angle/ peak height differences in the wedges?

I did not find any ball speed differences between the X and XS or notable launch angle differences with wedges.

What a great write up, very much appreciated guys. I am 105-110 mph driver swing speed and love the old model Tour B RXS, can’t wait to try the new models

Have hit the RXS for 2 years with driver swing speed of 106 and loved them. Just recently tried the be Srixon Z Star Diamond and have been extremely impressed with all aspects. Any reviews for that ball planned?

We have a review of the Z Star Diamond here: https://pluggedingolf.com/srixon-z-star-diamond-golf-ball-review/

With a driver swing speed averaging 95, I bought a box of RX and RXS. B-Stone touts RX as having more greenside spin this year, which I value. Played the RXS last year and thought it needed slightly more greenside spin. I thought the 2020 B – XS was great around the greens in comparison but I don’t have the speed for that on the long ball.

Sounds as if you are finding that greenside spin on the RX and RXS has improved. DId I get that right?

Great review. Did Matt Meeker test the X or XS balls? I know his SS is less than 105, but it would be interesting to read his results. Ping’s Ballnamic recommended the X for me, although my driver SS is in the low 90s. I haven’t given it a try due to Bridgestone’s recommendation that the R X would be the better ball for me based on SS, although I am curious as to how the X or XS would react at slower SS.

' src=

I did not test the X or XS George. If you get a chance to compare, let us know your results.

Really enjoyed this review of the Tour B line. I am one of those rare players that have a slower swing speed, but have best results with the XS due to the spin I get from it. All in all the Tour B line is terrific!!

I’m a 8 handicap with a 98to101 swing speed I play the Bridgestone E12 contact ball it is the straightest and best ball I’ve found would like to no your thoughts

We have a full review of the e12 here: https://pluggedingolf.com/bridgestone-e12-contact-golf-ball-review/

' src=

If the xs and the Rxs were both hit at 100 club head speed how much distance would the xs lose as it is designed for over 105

I don’t think there would be a significant difference in ball speed, if any.

' src=

Is the oncore elixr comparable to the bridestone tour b rxs golf balls? Which one is better for a 80 to 95 ss?

We have a full review of the Elixr here: https://pluggedingolf.com/oncore-elixr-2022-golf-ball-review/ Fitting golf balls is about much more than swing speed – the best approach is to either get fit or try both balls on the course and see what performs better for you.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Vs. Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls Comparison Overview

2023 tour b rx

The Callaway Chrome Soft balls are known for punching above their weight class. Some have even called them the perfect combination of distance and short-game performance.

But can they really hold up to a true tour-grade ball?

Conjecture is one thing but we wanted to find out for ourselves just how well the Callaway Chrome Soft balls held up to a true tour-grade ball.

So we tested them side-by-side off the tee, deck and on the green and recorded our findings in the following article.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Golf Balls Overview

2023 tour b rx

The Tour B RX balls have a surprisingly soft feel which makes them feel nice off the tee and deck.

They produce a nice squish against the driver face and our faster swing speed testers were able to get a max distance of 277 yards out of these balls off the tee.

From the fairway, the Tour B RX balls do a good job of holding their line even if you launch them a bit high.

This has to do with the gradational core which is pretty substantial for a ball with a compression rating of 66. That extra firmness also helps out with greenside spin.

We really liked the way the Tour B RX balls felt with our wedges.

They were reactive, had a good bounce on the green and we were really able to control roll even on firm greens.

Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls Overview

2023 tour b rx

The Callaway Chrome Soft balls have a surprisingly firm feel on the club face for balls with compression ratings of 65.

While it’s not much softer than the Tour B RX balls, you have to remember that these aren’t tour-grade balls. Yet they sport the same tour-grade features like a urethane cover and 3-piece design.

The faster swing speed testers weren’t able to launch the Callaway Chrome Soft balls as far as the Tour B RX’s off the tee; but the testers with swing speeds of an average of 95 MPH were still getting max distances of 267 yards.

The Callaway Chrome Soft balls launch high so they are great in the rough. The urethane cover makes for short-game performance comparable to the Tour B RX’s.

The Bridgestone Tour B RX’s would still be our choice at the end of the day; but the Callaway Chrome Soft balls aren’t too far off.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Quick Facts

2023 tour b rx

Compression: 66

Cover material: urethane, how many pieces: 3, core material: gradient type, dimple type: 338 dimple within dimple pattern, spin level: low long-game spin, low short-game spin, best suited for: mid handicap players who are focusing more on distance from the tee, callaway chrome soft quick facts.

2023 tour b rx

Compression: 65

Core material: graphene, dimple type: hexagonal (332), spin level: low long-game spin, high short-game spin, best suited for: high to mid handicappers, performance off the tee.

While our faster swing speed testers were getting better distance with the Srixon Z Stars, our slower swing speed testers were having a field day with the Bridgestone Tour B RX’s, yielding an average of 260 yards.

Performance from the Rough

The urethane cover of these balls makes it easier to grip them and swoop them out of the rough.

Performance from the Fairway

The Bridgestone Tour B RX balls keep a low spin rate pretty much across the board.

This was making it difficult for some of our better testers to work the ball the way they wanted to with their irons and hybrids.

The faster testers in our party were getting about 245 yards while the slower swing speed testers were getting about the same.
Scooping the ball up and even spinning as you may need to was surprisingly easy with these balls.
We actually really liked the way these balls felt against our irons and hybrids.

The only problem was that the launch remained relatively high even when we weren’t trying.

Bridgestone Tour B RX Selling Points

  • Low spin off the tee
  • Low spin with long irons
  • Urethane cover
  • Great for mid handicappers
  • Good rebound

Bridgestone Tour B RX Cons

  • High bounce
  • Not very workable
  • Not great for lower handicap players
  • More distance than tour-grade balls

Callaway Chrome Soft Selling Points

  • Great for beginners and intermediates
  • 3-piece construction
  • Decent short-game control
  • Good side spin with short irons
  • High launch off the deck

Callaway Chrome Soft Cons

  • Not great for low handicappers
  • Lacking workability with irons
  • Launches high in all situations
  • A but unstable

Who are the Bridgestone Tour B RX Balls for?

2023 tour b rx

The player in need of help with distance off the tee.

If you are looking to start more holes off on the right foot and not so much focused on the finer aspects of your short game yet, we would recommend the Bridgestone Tour B RX balls.

How are they with Short Irons?

A bit difficult to work overall. Not as much responsiveness with wedges.

On the Green

You get good feel on the green thanks to the urethane cover. They feel good off the face though they play a bit slow.

Overall Rating: 94/100

Who are the Callaway Chrome Soft Balls for?

2023 tour b rx

The Chrome Soft balls partially live up to their hype by being a viable option for mid to high handicappers.

The compression isn’t low enough to match the distance you would get if your swing speed was in the “fast” territory.

The great thing about these balls is the urethane cover and the 3-piece construction which allows for a good amount of greenside spin control. They definitely perform above their class with short irons.

The Chrome Soft balls were a little hard to check on fast greens.

Overall Rating: 96/100

Bridgestone Tour B RXS Golf Balls

What we say..., the bridgestone tour b rxs golf balls deliver incredible spin on approach shots and around the greens..

For decades Bridgestone have been manufacturing golf balls worthy of being played by outstanding Tour players; thanks to their reputation. The Tour B RXS is a wonderful option for those who like to play with the best golf balls but may not have the quickest swing speed.

Among the Tour B family, the Tour B RXS is perhaps the best premium golf ball for golfers with slower swing speeds to get the most out of their game, due to the lower compression core, the technology packed into the ball, and the amazing spin and control.

Technology is certainly not missing from these golf balls. Bridgestone pride themselves on their golf balls which have had much success on Tour and seen them become ever prevalent in the amateur game. The technology included in the Tour B RXS features across all the golf balls in the Tour B family, but what exactly is the technology?

Specific to the Tour B range of golf balls is Bridgestone’s REACTIV iQ ; a smart urethane cover technology. This technology reacts to the force of impact which helps to offer more distance off the tee and more spin and control on approach shots.

Gradational Compression Core

The ideal golf ball will fly straight and travel further – something the gradational compression core assists with by reducing side spin and increasing ball speed. This improves the overall performance of the Tour B RXS; making it one of the best golf balls for club golfers.

Dual Dimple Technology

A common feature of Bridgestone golf balls since the early 2010s is the dual dimple technology which has become an integral part of their premium golf balls. This technology enhances aerodynamics, providing extra distance by reducing drag while the balls are in the air.

Seamless Cover Technology

The seamless cover technology offers a consistent ball flight and creates a perfectly balanced dimple pattern giving you a ball you can trust to travel as well as it’s struck.

Who uses Bridgestone Tour B RXS golf balls?

Unlike TaylorMade and Titleist , Bridgestone does not have an array of Tour golfers playing with their balls. Although they do have formidable staffers using their golf balls. The Tour B RXS is not a common ball on any tour but that does not make it an excellent ball which is perhaps more suited to club golfers than any ball manufactured by TaylorMade or Titleist.

The Tour B RXS is the ball of choice for 1992 Masters Champion Fred Couples. “Boom Boom” (named for his long accurate distance in his prime) has been a Bridgestone staffer since 2005 and now plays the Tour B RXS in yellow – uncommon for Tour golf.

Another golfer who plays the Tour B RXS is Wake Forest College star, Emilia Migliaccio, a member of the 2023 NCAA women’s golf national championship.

Bridgestone Tour B range of golf balls

Which Bridgestone Tour B golf ball should I play?

There are four different balls in the Tour B family, and the majority of golfers will be able to find a suitable option from these four. The Tour B RXS is perhaps the most suited to the average club golfer who wants a premium ball.

The Tour B XRS is ideal for most club golfers because you can still achieve distance with this ball but there is more emphasis on spin and control when approaching greens. Also, these balls are designed for golfers who swing their driver slower than 105mph – most average club golfers will be in this category. If the Tour B RXS works for a former world No.1 they must work for others.

There is another ball manufactured by Bridgestone intended for golfers who swing their driver slower than 105mph. This ball is more distance-orientated and doesn’t spin as much when approaching greens.

Bridgestone offers premium golf balls for those with a driver swing speed quicker than 105mph, the first of which is the Tour B XS . This is the ball of choice for 15-time Major Champion Tiger Woods . This ball is long off the tee with increased spin and control on approach to greens.

Jason Day and Matt Kuchar both play the Bridgestone Tour B X , the other ball aimed at golfers who swing their driver quicker than 105mph. This ball is designed to maximize distance by reducing spin and providing a lower launch. The Tour B XS and Tour B X are competitors to the best premium golf balls .

Bridgestone Tour B RXS review: Robot golf balls test verdict

Robot golf balls test data and verdict – bridgestone tour b rxs.

The RXS didn’t appear among any of our top-performing models in any situation in our robot golf balls test, but it bubbled around the test averages throughout all sessions and, for a higher spin ball, produced surprisingly low levels of wedge spin.

For this cost, we reckon there are better-performing models out there, even if you are after a slightly higher-spinning golf ball.

See how it compared to the other 27 models in our  robot golf balls test .

Bridgestone Tour B RXS availability

The Tour B RXS is available in white and yellow (choice of Fred Couples). The balls come with traditional numbering from 1 through 4, which are blue on the white balls and black on the yellow balls.

The balls are available to purchase from numerous retailers at an RRP of £44.99 / $49.99 per dozen; a fair price for a quality ball.

Best Bridgestone Golf Balls: 2024 On-Course Comparison

Written By : Jon Webber // Read All Comments

For 2022, Bridgestone has introduced seven new balls for a wide range of golfers. Four different tour-level premium balls and several lower-priced value balls. In this post, we’ll be comparing each model and talking about which ball is best for each type of golfer.

Which golf ball are you looking for?

Bridgestone Tour B X

Bridgestone tour b xs, bridgestone tour b rx, bridgestone tour b rxs, bridgestone e12 contact, bridgestone e6.

  • Best Bridgestone Ball For Low Handicaps
  • Best Bridgestone Ball For Mid Handicaps
  • Best Bridgestone Ball For High Handicaps

These balls are each supposed to provide certain advantages for your particular style of golf. The main takeaway that I got while looking at these balls is that each is designed for a specific swing speed while providing either extra distance or greenside spin .

We’ll start by looking at the Tour B balls. They are all priced similarly at an MSRP of $49.99. Depending on the specific model, these balls are for golfers with swing speeds over 105 MPH as well as under 105 MPH.

All of the Tour balls feature a proprietary urethane cover that Bridgestone refers to as REACTIV iQ , and a “double dimple” technology. They certainly look different than most of the balls I normally play and felt decently soft on the club face.

On their website, they refer to this latest design as using “smart” technology to help improve your game. Here is a quick run-down on the specs of each golf ball.

Alternatively, if you want to know about different brands instead, you can read our guides on the best Callaway golf balls or the best Srixon golf balls .

I want to hear from you. In the comments below, let me know what your favorite Bridgestone ball is and why.

  • Handicap : Low
  • Feel : Firm
  • Compression : 100
  • Swing Speed : 105+
  • Wedge Spin : Mid/High

The new Bridgestone B X ball is what I would call the “base” model of the new Tour B style balls for lower handicap golfers. It’s the firmest ball with the highest compression rating and will have less short-game spin compared to the Tour B XS.

While driving, the balls are stated to provide a higher speed off the tee and less side spin resulting in longer drives and an increased roll out. On approach, they provide a longer duration of club face contact providing more spin with a firmer feel for a tight landing.

RELATED : How Backspin And Sidespin Affect A Golf Ball

The first thing I noticed was the “ Dual Dimple ” technology of the cover. The dimples were uniform and evenly spaced out, one dimple within another. I didn’t notice any imperfections on the balls I was using.

I would say this ball would be a good fit for the low handicap golfer looking to increase his distance, it had a firmish feel and felt decent on the driver. It does require a swing speed of over 105 to maximize its potential, so keep that in mind.

Who’s using it on Tour: The ball was developed with the help of both Bryson DeChambeau and Matt Kuchar. This, along with the other Tour B models are golf balls for professional golfers .

Key takeaway : This ball is ideal if you have a swing speed over 105 MPH and you could use less short-game spin.

Handicap : Low Layers : 3 Feel : Mid Compression : 85 Swing Speed : 105+ Wedge Spin : High

The Tour B XS is regarded as slightly different from the Tour B X in that it is supposed to provide additional short game spin as compared to the Tour B X, hence the S after the X.

RELATED : Which Golf Balls Spin The Most?

Using the same proprietary REACTIV iQ urethane cover and dual dimple technology, simply put, this ball should provide more spin for better control on approach shots while maintaining a softish feel. The compression rating is slightly lower than the B X, which should give it a bit of a softer feel .

For me, I can’t get a whole lot of spin on my wedge shots, and because of that, this ball would suit me better than the B X (if my swing speed was over 105 MPH).

Who’s using it on Tour: The ball was developed with the help of the world-famous Tiger Woods! And he does use it in professional competitions. He really doesn’t need to increase his distance, so it makes sense to go for better green side control with more spin.

Key takeaway : This ball is ideal for golfers with swing speeds over 105 mph who need additional short-game spin.

Handicap : Low Layers : 3 Feel : Mid Compression : 75 Swing Speed : Under 105 Wedge Spin : Mid/High

Bridgestone went a different route with the designation of an R in front of the X. I assume that the R signifies “reduced”, as in reduced swing speed. It is designed for golfers with a LESS than 105 MPH swing speed.

Having the same outer cover technology as the previous models, this ball would be good for low handicappers that are getting older and don’t swing the club as fast as they used to.

It is designed to supply more distance at those slower swing speeds while maintaining a softish feel, reduced spin on the drive, and tight control around the green.

Who’s using it on Tour: Lexi Thomas uses this ball in professional competitions. Her average swing speed is around 106 mph and she is known to be a long hitter.

Key takeaway : This ball is ideal for better golfers with swing speeds under 105 MPH who could use a ball with less short-game spin.

Handicap : Low Layers : 3 Feel : Soft Compression : 65 Swing Speed : Under 105 Wedge Spin : High

The Bridgestone Tour B RXS is designed to provide extra spin at a reduced swing speed, less than 105 MPH. Going for more greenside control by increasing spin, the Tour B RXS is Bridgestone’s answer for the less than 105 MPH swing speed player.

These balls have the lowest compression and softest feel compared to the other Tour B balls. If you’re a lower handicap with an average swing speed, but looking for better green side control, this is the ball for you.

Who’s using it on Tour: The iconic Fred Couples is playing this ball.

Key takeaway : This ball is ideal for better golfers with swing speeds under 105 MPH who could use more greenside spin.

2023 tour b rx

Handicap : Mid/High Layers : 3 Feel : Soft Compression : 60 Swing Speed : Under 105 Wedge Spin : Mid

Getting down to the lower-priced balls, we come to the e12 Contact. With an MSRP of $29.99 they obviously don’t have all the features of the Tour B X series.

It does not use the same REACTIV iQ and double dimple technology. Instead, they use something Bridgestone calls a CONTACT Force dimple .

These balls utilize a polymer cover with a unique dimple pattern, which is designed to provide more distance off the tee with less side-to-side spin. You can learn more about if low spin golf balls go further here.

Designed for the average golfer who is looking for more distance off the tee and some help to keep the ball flight straighter. The compression of this ball was somewhat soft, but the outer cover was not as soft as the Tour B series balls.

My personal opinion after playing with this ball was that it was pretty much what you would expect for the price. I didn’t notice any straighter flight or distance with my driver, but I felt that it helped my long irons out. Greenside control was nice and the feel was not bad.

Bridgestone does not call out a recommended swing speed for this ball, so I assume it is modelled for the moderate swing speed golfer (90-100 MPH).

Key takeaway : This ball is ideal for average golfers (mid to high handicap) who don’t want to spend a fortune on balls but could use a little bit of short game spin.

Handicap : High Layers : 2 Feel : Soft Compression : 50 Swing Speed : Under 105 Wedge Spin : Low

Similar to the e12 Contact, the e6 is for the moderate swing speed golfer. The design is reformulated from a previous model and features a 2 piece low compression core.

According to the golf pro at the local muni I like to play at, this is a very popular ball . I didn’t feel like I made any gains with my distance, but the ball felt decently soft around the greens.

I know he was telling me the truth concerning its popularity, out of the different balls that they sold in the pro shop, I could see that more players bought these than the others. And, I could see in the “used ball” bin that there were quite a few of them in there.

Key takeaway : At a price point of $24.99, this ball is ideal for high handicap golfers who prefer price and distance over short-game spin.

Which Bridgestone Golf Ball is For You?

Bridgestone makes it really easy to find your balls, pun intended. On the Bridgestone website, you can use their “Fitting” app to find the ball that suits your game.  Click here to go to the app .

On the other hand, if you want to know what worked the best for us, we have some recommendations for you. The ball you should play will really depend on your skill level and what you’re looking for. Let’s jump into it.

Best Bridgestone Ball For Low Handicappers

The best Bridgestone ball for most low handicappers is the Tour B RXS . This ball is designed for swing speeds under 105 MPH and more greenside spin, which would suit the majority of golfers.

From what I’ve seen, most people don’t swing the driver over 105 MPH. That’s pretty much going to rule out the Tour B X and Tour B XS. What’s left is the Tour B RX and Tour B RXS.

Both of these balls are ideal for swing speeds under 105 MPH. The main difference is the short game spin . The RX has less greenside spin than the RXS.

I’m pretty sure that most people could use more spin on their wedge shots. That means playing with a 3 or 4 piece golf ball . Even though I’m not a low handicapper myself, out of all the Tour B balls, the RXS performed the best for me.

RELATED : Best Golf Balls For High Swing Speeds

Best Bridgestone Ball For Mid Handicappers

The best Bridgestone ball for mid-handicappers is the e12 Contact . This ball is suited for a wide range of swing speeds, is forgiving and long off the tee, has decent short game spin, and is priced at a reasonable level.

Even though a mid-handicap golfer could use one of the Tour B series balls, I don’t think it’s the best choice. I’m a mid-handicapper myself and I’m not good enough to see any of the benefits, so why would I spend the extra money?

I still hit the occasional hook or slice, I still don’t hit the ball as far as I’d like, and I can’t put much spin on my wedge shots. A 2 or 3-piece golf ball that’s at the tour-value level is all I need.

The main reason I prefer the e12 over the Tour B is that it’s quite a bit cheaper. The reason I like the e12 over the e6 is that the extra layer makes the e12 have a bit more greenside spin.

RELATED : Best Golf Balls For Mid Handicappers

Best Bridgestone Ball For High Handicappers

The best Bridgestone ball for high handicappers is the Bridgestone e6 . This ball is one of their cheapest options and is designed for maximum distance off the tee, which is one of the most wanted features for average golfers.

Don’t get me wrong, but you could use any of the other Bridgestone balls at this point and it might work for you. That being said, high handicappers slice the ball off the planet and end up losing multiple balls per round.

I don’t know about you but I sure don’t like losing $5 balls every few holes. High handicaps don’t need a ball that spins a whole lot because they don’t know how to spin the ball anyway.

You’ll be way better off playing an entry-level ball that’s priced well. Both the e12 and e6 are solid options at this point, but the main reason I’d suggest the e6 is that it’s cheaper.

We even did a test to see how the e6 compared to the Pro V1x in terms of distance and there wasn’t much of a difference. You can see our low vs high compression golf balls test here.
