Arrival at Nainital

On your arrival at the Delhi airport or railway station, you will catch the Swan Tours representative who further transfer you to the first beautiful hill station that is Nainital. Nainital Lake Tour

Nainital Tour Itinerary: A 7-Day Adventure In The Serene Hill Station

Make your Nainital tour worthwhile by going through our pre-planned itinerary of seven days. Ideally, this is what your Nainital Tour Package must look like, but a little shuffling is completely fine. However, make sure you cover all these locations and activities to get the full essence of the renowned hill station in Uttarakhand , known for its lakes, dense forests, and natural beauty. 

Day 1: Arrival and Local Sightseeing during Nainital tour

Check into your Treebo hotel after arriving for your Nainital tour, and take a moment to breathe its pristine air as you freshen up to experience the beauty of this hill station. Take it easy on yourself on the first day, since you’ve traveled for a long time, and visit the local spots for your Nainital sightseeing journey. The Naina Devi Temple on the northern shore of the Naini Lake should ideally be the first place you visit. The ancient temple is surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views.

Next is Mall Road, a bustling destination that combines both traditional and modern experiences through its exquisite shops and restaurants. End your first day with a peaceful ride in the Naini Lake as you bask in the sunset and row on the tranquil lake. If you’re lucky, you might see the migratory birds decorating the skyline. Now, head back to your Treebo hotel and get some rest as you prepare for the upcoming days of exploring and getting the most out of your ideal Nainital Tour Package.

Day 2: Trek to Tiffin Top

Start your day early and head for a trek to get a glorious view from the Tiffin Top, a scenic viewpoint nestled in mountains that take around 2-3 hours to complete. Book a taxi or walk to the starting point, i.e., Ayarpatta Hill, and make sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes, and carrying enough water, along with some energizing snacks. Also, take litter bags with you to avoid throwing any waste around, like a responsible citizen.

The trek leans more toward the moderately difficult side, but the spectacular view at the top is worth all the huffing and puffing. Plan a nice breakfast with your loved ones on the mountaintop and head back to your hotel, either by trekking or on a horse ride. Lastly, go out to enjoy some local delicacies and treat yourself after a long day of hard work.

Day 3: Visit Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal

Bhimtal and Sattal should be in every Nainital Tour Package, as they are two gorgeous lakes located near the hill station, surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Enjoy a boat ride in the Bhimtal Lake, which is named after the mythological character of Bhima and is considered to be one of the few natural lakes in the region. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, named Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple, stands proud on the banks of this lake and is said to be around 700 years old. 

After visiting the temple, head to Sattal, which is a cluster of seven interconnected freshwater lakes, and a perfect spot for birdwatching, nature walks, or picnic. In the evening, spice up your Nainital tour by exploring the Tibetan Market and shopping for souvenirs, handicrafts, woolen clothes, jewelry, and more. You can also try out some of their traditional cuisines that, include momos and thupka. End your day with a bonfire and some live local music at your Treebo hotel . 

Day 4: Visit Naini Peak and Snow View

Your fourth day of Nainital sightseeing can be another trek, but this time you’ll climb the Naini Peak, which is the highest point in the hill station with an altitude of 2615 meters. Even though it’s not for the faint of heart, you’ll have a panoramic and breathtaking view of the Himalayas.

The Mallital Peak can be your next destination, and it takes around three to four hours to reach atop, but you can also opt for a pony ride to save your time and energy. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, take a cable car ride to Snow View Point for a thrilling experience on your Nainital trip. After a long and tiring day, you can head back to your hotel and prepare for the next one.

Day 5: Day Trip to Ranikhet

Ranikhet should be next on your list, which is around 60km from Nainital. Moreover, it is also a beautiful hill station with vivid architecture and an equally beautiful environment. On your way to Ranikhet, you can make a stop at Kainchi Dham, which is built in memory of the holy Neem Karoli Baba and is located at a picturesque site. Once you’ve reached your destination, drive to Chaubatia Gardens, which is an impressive spread of orchards that covers hundreds of acres. In the garden, you’ll find seasonal fruits like apples, apricots, peaches, etc.

The Jhula Devi temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga, is also nearby, and it boasts intricate wooden carving designs that are a treat to everyone’s eyes. Another site here is the Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum, where you’ll find exhibitions of photographs, weapons, and uniforms of the Kumaon regiment. As the sun begins to set, you can stroll and eat at some local cafes before returning to your hotel. 

Day 6: Visit Mukteshwar 

On day 6 of your Nainital trip, feel free to explore another nearby hill station, i.e., Mukteswar, which is around 50 km away. The Mukteshwar temple, built to honor Shiva, is a must-see place and an ideal spot for sightseeing and photography.

The Chauli Ki Jali cliff near the temple is another place where you can find similar views, with recreational activities like rock climbing and rappelling. If your inner nerd wants out, make sure you go to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute for a range of exhibits and specimens of flora and fauna. Lastly, drive back to your Treebo hotel and cherish the remaining wonderful moments of your Nainital trip. 

Day 7: Departure

Nainital Itinerary – How to spend 5 days in Nainital

Often known as the Lake district of India, Nainital, nestled in the lap of the Kumaon range in Uttarakhand, was built in 1841, at a height of 2084 metres, as a British summer capital. The city derives its name from the eye-shaped lake in its centre (naini-tal; naini in Hindi meaning ‘eyes’) on the north shore of which is the holy Naina Devi temple.  This bustling town offers panoramic views of the Himalayas all around and is a popular destination for families as well as honeymooners who are looking for a rejuvenating week of fresh, clean air and mesmerising and enchanting mountain views. If you are planning for Nainital itinerary, this post will help you.

Although summer months are the most popular, Nainital can be a pleasant experience throughout the year. From backpackers on a budget to couples looking for an exotic stay, Nainital offers a range of accommodations and eateries.

This is also a trekker’s paradise as most of the high-altitude view-points can be climbed on foot. However, if trekking is not your idea of a perfect getaway, you can easily tour the sites in a cab that can be hired at multiple points in the city.

Pantnagar is the closest domestic airport and is connected to Delhi and Mumbai through several flights. Indira Gandhi airport at Delhi is the closest international airport. Kathgodam railway station is the closest station at a distance of 34 kilometres from Nainital. There are several trains available from Delhi, Agra, Kolkata, Lucknow etc.

Nainital is also accessible by road- you can take a cab or bus from Delhi and reach Nainital in about 5 hours. This is why it is one of the best places to visit near Delhi .

Once you reach Nainital, start your vacation at the Naina Devi Temple on the banks of Naini Lake. This is an 8 th century temple believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peeths holy to the Hindu culture. Mythology states that the eyes (naina) of Goddess Sati fell on this site after the Tandava of Lord Shiva and the site is a pilgrimage spot for many Hindus.

The Naini Lake beside is the central attraction in the city and you can take a boat ride on it while enjoying the views of the Kumaon range surrounding it. The Governor’s House in Uttarakhand is located close to the lake and is a British colonial structure.

Visit the Eco Cave Gardens nearby for a fun-filled crawl through various animal-shaped caves. This site is especially popular with children. Next on your list could be the Aurobindo Ashram and the Gurney House, the erstwhile home of Jim Corbett.

You can then drive to Jeolikot, about 18 kms away, which is often called the gateway to Nainital to see the many-hued flowers and butterflies prolifically spread in the area.

Spend your evening at the Astronomical Observatory gazing up at the constellations in the clear sky. End your first day strolling through the Tibetan Market and Mall Road lined by many cafes.

Mallital, 5 minutes from the Naini Lake, is the other charming spot in the city. Take a ropeway ride from here to reach Snow View Point which provides extremely magnificent views of the mountain ranges all around.

Tiffin Top, at a height of 7,520 feet is another popular viewing point. The place is named so because many tourists come here for picnic with packed tiffins!

St. John Wilderness Church, located next to the High Court, is a fascinating structure and a must-visit. You can trek or drive up to Naina Peak, at a height of 2,615 metres, to see the rhododendron blooms lining the hill.

Next visit the ashram of the famed Neem Karoli Baba. His popularity was so widespread that many luminaries across the world, including Steve Jobs, wanted to become his disciple.

Khurpatal, a scenic lake, surrounded by pine and cedar trees and Land’s End, a cliff offering an adrenaline kick due to its treacherous viewpoint are the other popular sites in the city. Spend some time in the Himalayan Botanical Garden and the zoo with its many species of birds and animals.

Almora is a quaint yet spectacular town in Uttarakhand, about a 2-hour drive from Nainital. Shaped like a horse-shoe, this town gives visitors grand views of the Himalayas from its Zero Point in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Jageshwar group of temples is a cluster of over 100 temples built between the 7 th and 12 th century and is a holy site to the Shaivism sect of Hindus. Katarmal Sun temple and the Kasar Devi temple are also worth a visit in the town.

The Deer Park and Bright End Corner are the other popular attractions here. The latter is named after a Mr. Brighton and is the site for the Vivekananada Library and memorial.

Govind Vallabh Pant museum is an interesting site in the town that houses artefacts belonging to the Katyuri and Chand dynasty. It also displays many local handicrafts and paintings. Spend your night at one of the guest houses or homestays in the town to enjoy a chilly and silent sleep in the lap of the mighty mountains.

Ranikhet is 46 km away from Almora and should take you about 2 hours to drive. This picturesque town is known for its orchards and sprawling golf course and you will not regret spending the day here, watching the snow-capped peaks from every angle. The Jhula Devi Temple in the town is often visited by pilgrims.

Legend has it that Queen Padmini of Kumaon spent a large amount of her time in this hilly nest and the place received its name after her palace as the Queen’s farm. Though this palace has left no trace of its existence, this enchanting town draws tourists for its excellent views of the sunrise and sunset.

Head to Chaubatia Gardens which is spread over 600 acres of land! Its a must for every nature lover where one can find several orchards filled with apricots, peaches, apples and so much more.

On the road to Almora, you find this quaint town called Majkhali that is renowned for its natural beauty. The places hosts several picnic spots that is enjoyed by tourists coming here, not to mention an absolutely splendid view of the Himalayas.

You can return to Nainital at the end of the day or choose to stay overnight in this peaceful station.

The wildlife sanctuary needs very little introduction. Situated 65 kms from Nainital (a 2 hour drive), this is the most exciting way to end your trip. Established in 1936, the oldest national park of India is the home to the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. The Park is divided into 5 zones: Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna, Domunda and Sonanandi with different entrance points. Take a safari and immerse yourself in the sightings of hundreds of species of flora and fauna.

Even though tiger glimpses are very rare, you can certainly come across Asiatic Black Bear, Sloth Bear, Walking Deer, Hog Deer, Sambar, Yellow-throated Marten, Otters and Ghariyal. The aqua fauna include: Golden Oriole, Pallas Fish Eagle, Indian Pitta, Tawny Fish Owl, Scarlet Minivet and more.

Nainital is a Himalayan resort town in the Kumaon region of India’s Uttarakhand state, at an elevation of roughly 2,000m. Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board in the Dehradun District of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is about 35 kilometres from the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km north of the national capital of New Delhi. Jim Corbett National Park is a forested wildlife sanctuary in northern India’s Uttarakhand State. Rich in flora and fauna, it’s known for its Bengal tigers. Upon arrival at Dehradun we will pick up and drive to Nainital. On arrive check in at hotel. In the evening enjoy boat ride at Naini lake.Dinner and overnight stay in Nainital

Day 1 Delhi- Nainital (320 KMS / 08 HRS. DRIVE)

On arrival in Nainital. Check-in at the Hotel. After Breakfast Start Local sightseeing in Nainital covering Waterfall, Himalaya darshan, Eco Cave Garden, Landsend, Naina Devi temple, and Mall Road. Overnight in Nainital.

Day 2 Nainital Sightseeing

Today get ready for sightseeing of lakes around Nainital. Go for an excursion tour to  Naukuchiatal -means a nine-cornered Lake. Perched at 1,220 mts above sea level, the lake is about 1 km long and is also the deepest lake of Nainital with a depth of 40mts &  Bhimtal -once the part of the ancient silk route, is another picturesque lake perched at 1,370mts above sea level, has a small island in the centre having a large aquarium and  Sattal -or (Seven Lakes) is an interlinked group of seven mesmerizing freshwater lakes. Visit the famous temple of  Golu devta Ghorakhal ,  Kainchi Ashram  and stop for buying local fruits & herbs in  Bhowali  Market.

Day 3 Nainital – Almora – Kausani (115 KILOMETERS)

Morning transfer  to Jageshwar temple-old shiv temple a heritage of India site. Proceed to Kausani.Reach  Kausani . Today Kausani sightseeing covering  Anashakti Ashram . Anasakti Ashram was built to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi who visited this place in 1929 and described it as the ‘Switzerland of India’ after falling in love with its pristine beauty. It is here that he wrote his treatise Anasakti (‘detachment’) Yoga.  Pant museum , Gandhi Ashram, Tea Garden ,Sunrise and Sunset Point.

Day 4 Kausani Sightseeing

Local sightseeing in Kausani covering  Baijnath Temple . Baijnath Temple complex has many historic ruins. An intricate and slight carving makes the temple magnificent. Visiting Baij Nath Temple, Kausani located amidst the mountain ranges with the splendid sceneries around, can be an enchanting experience.  Rudradhari Waterfall  and enjoy shopping for local artefacts e.g. green tea, woollens, local herbs.

Day 5 Kausani - Ranikhet (60 KILOMETERS)

On arrival in Ranikhet, Check-in at the hotel. Start the local sightseeing tour of Ranikhet by visiting the  Chaubatia Gardens . From here you can trek to the  Bhalu Dam  and attempt your hand at angling. You can eat at the  Rani Jheel  or  Ashiyana Park  which are pined for outing spots. After lunch, you can visit the  Jhula Devi Temple ,  KRC Museum -run by the army,  Haidakhan ashram ,  Golf ground , Healing forest-First of its kind in India, and appreciate the nightfall at Majkhali overlooking the Himalayan pinnacles. Ranikhet is to a great degree pleasant and is a treat to the eyes. You can shop at the nearby market for wooden things, sketches and adornments, woollen cloths made by local women weavers at KRC woollens.

Day 6 Ranikhet Sightseeing

Today, you will explore the other attractions of Ranikhet like Chaubatia Orchard, Jhula Devi Temple, Ram Mandir, Binsar Mahadev, Kumaon Regiment Army Head Quarter, Shawl and Tweed Factory and Mankameshwar Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 7 Ranikhet - Delhi

On the first day of your trip our representative will pick you up from Delhi, and from the capital, we start our road trip to the beautiful Nainital situated in Uttarakhand. After we reach Nainital, you check-in at your hotel, take some rest and freshen up, after which we head to explore Nainital. We check out the Hanuman Garhi Temple which offers you a sunrise and sunset view, the Naina Devi Temple which is situated near the lake. Tour Overview

Mussoorie , popularly known as the Queen of Hills, is a hill station situated at an altitude of 1,880 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Himalayas in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state. From this hill station, there is a spectacular view of the Shivalik mountain range. This place is also considered the gateway to Yamunotri and Gangotri religious centers.

Auli is famous for its huge snow-capped mountains, Trishul Peak, Nanda Devi Peak, and activities like skiing, camping, and hiking. From December to March, the Auli Mountains are usually covered with a thick carpet of snow, Auli is most famous for skiing and winter games. Nainital is known as the lake town.

This beautiful hill station is located in the Kumaon Hills in the Himalayas and is home to several beautiful lakes. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva's wife Sati's left eye fell at this spot, causing the formation of this eye-shaped Naini Lake. The weather in Uttarakhand is excellent throughout the year. During summers the most popular activities are Char Dham Yatra , Rafting, Camping, and Trekking, while in winter skiing, winter games, and snowfall are most popular.

Itinerary Details

On arrival, the Tusk Travel representative will meet you at the airport/railway station or other desired location at your preferred time and assist you to your car, driving straight to Mussoorie. Lunch at midway restaurant.

On arrival in the evening, check-in into the hotel, and after taking some rest explore Mussoorie mall road on your own.

Later return back to the hotel and overnight stay at Mussoorie.

After having breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Mussoorie sightseeing. Explore Kempty Falls , Mussourie Lake, Camel’s Back Road, Lal Tibba , Landour Bazaar, The Christ Church, Sisters Bazaar, Snow View Point, Bhatta Falls, Happy Valley .

In the evening explore Gun Hills by ropeway on your own. returns back to the hotel, having dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast drive to Rishikesh (Yoga capital of the world) via Dehradun . Upon arrival visit nearby temples and Ashrams.

Later in the evening witness the holy Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat. Back to hotel for Overnight stay.

After breakfast start driving to Joshimath, the whole day you will spend a scenic drive to Joshimath.

On arrival check-in at the hotel, later in the evening explore nearby places. Back to hotel for overnight stay.

After breakfast, leave for Auli by Ropeway from where sightsee covering with skiing in Auli and Gurson Bugyal ( 03 km trek from Auli).

Where you can view peaks of the Himalayas like Nanda Devi and Trishul and artificial lake after enjoying back to Joshimath hotel and overnight stay in Joshimath.

After waking up to a beautiful morning, check out early from the hotel and start a scenic drive to Nainital after having breakfast.

After check-in has some rest later visit nearby places by walk. overnight stay in a hotel at Nainital.  

After breakfast check out from the hotel for local sightseeing of Nainital . Visit the Naina Devi temple, Tiffin top, Naini Lake, Naina Peak, the Mall road, and lakes like Sattal, Bhimtal, and Naukuchiatal. 

Later in the evening, return to your hotel.

At a distance of 1.5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, Nainital Lake is a natural freshwater lake, situated amidst the main town of Nainital. It is one of the prime Nainital tourist places . Nainital Lake is commonly represented to promote Nainital Tourism. The lake was built in 1839 by P. Barron. Situated at an altitude of 2,000 m, this is one of the four lakes of Kumaon hills, the other three lakes are Sattal Lake, Bhimtal Lake, and Naukuchiyatal Lake. Nainital Lake is lunar-shaped and has an outlet at the southeastern end. The lake covers a perimeter of 2 miles with a depth that varies from 6 m to 28 m. The northern part of the lake is called Mallital while the southern part is known as Tallital. Balia Nala is the main feeder stream of the lake. Other than this, 26 major drains, including the three perennial ones, feed it. It is surrounded by panoramic hills on three sides. According to a legend, .....

2 Naina Devi Temple

At a distance of 2 km from Tallital Bus Stand, the Naina Devi Temple is a Hindu temple situated on the northern end of the Nainital Lake near the Nainital Boat House Club. It is one of the top places of pilgrimage in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, and among the must-visit places during Nainital Tour . The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Naina Devi represented by two eyes. According to the legend, Naina Devi Temple is the place where eyes from burned body of Goddess Sati fall when her corpse was being carried by Lord Shiva. Situated at an altitude of 2,270 m, Snow view point offers excellent views of snowcapped mountains like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Kot. It also offers great views of Nainital Lake and the town. Snow view point is well connected by road but a ride in aerial ropeway from Mallital is the best way to reach this place. In order to provide a perfect view to visitors, a pair of huge binoculars is installed at this spot. 4 Mall Road

At a distance of 1 km from Tallital Bus Station, Mall Road is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nainital. It connects the North and South West corner of Nainital Lake known as Mallital and Tallital and runs parallel to Nainital Lake. Shopping in Mall Road is one of the top activities in Nainital. The Mall Road was constructed during the British colonial rule. This is the main commercial area which runs through the heart of the Nainital town. At a distance of 1.5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo is a high altitude zoo situated in Nainital. It is one of the three High Altitude Zoo Parks in North India, apart from those in Darjeeling and Sikkim, and among the top tourist attractions in Nainital . The Zoo was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 11 acres. It is situated on the Sher Ka Danda hill at an altitude of 2,100 m (6,900 feet) and is the only zoo in Uttarakhand. The Zoo was opened to visitors on 1st June 1995 and is managed by Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society, Nainital from 1st March 2002.
