2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 To Come With Tripper Navigation

  • Mar 8, 2021

The bike has been spotted with the revised instrument console for the first time

trip navigator royal enfield classic 350

It’ll be powered by an all-new air-cooled 349cc engine -- the same unit from the Meteor 350 . It makes 20.4PS and 27Nm, mated to a 5-speed transmission. The engine is quite refined thanks to the addition of a counterbalancer and the company’s decision to ditch the primary chain drive and the age-old pushrod setup.

Expect better hardware on the 2021 Classic 350, just like the Meteor. It could be equipped with a larger 300mm front disc and a 270mm disc at the rear, paired with dual-channel ABS. From the looks of it, its suspension setup seems to be the same as the Meteor: a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shocks at the rear.

The 2021 Classic 350 is likely to command a premium of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 over the existing Classic 350 with single-channel ABS, which retails at Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will go up against the standard Jawa , Jawa Forty Two , Bajaj Dominar 250 , Benelli Imperiale 400 , and the Honda H’Ness CB350 .

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350: Tripper navigation system revealed by spy images

trip navigator royal enfield classic 350

The next-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been spotted with the tripper navigation system. New spy images of the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 350 have confirmed that the model will feature the Tripper Navigation system. The TFT screen used by the Tripper Navigation system has neatly been integrated into the motorcycle.

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Tripper Navigation System

The Classic 350 has been Royal Enfield’s best-selling model for several years now. Buyers love the motorcycle for its timeless design and for the usability it offers. However, the model has been in its current form for a long time now and there is no doubt that it is old. Sure, it did get updates in the form of an ABS system, and a BS6 compliant engine.

Royal Enfield though, has a new engine and frame in its arsenal and we expect this engine and frame to eventually underpin all motorcycles from the Chennai-based manufacturer. The engine and frame in question debuted in 2020 with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. It is quieter, comparatively vibration-free, and more tractable than the 350cc engine currently found in the Classic 350.

It was known for a long time now that Royal Enfield is developing the next-gen Classic 350 on this new platform. The motorcycle has been spotted several times until now and many spy images have already revealed most of its details. Now, a new set of spy images have revealed another important detail — the Royal Enfield Tripper navigation system.

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Tripper Navigation System

The Tripper has been in development for a long time now and debuted with the Meteor 350. It was known that this system would eventually make it to other Royal Enfield models too. More recently the Tripper Navigation system debuted on the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan too.

Most of us did feel that the circular TFT screen fitted next to the instrument console of the Himalayan was more of an afterthought and it does look like an aftermarket fitment. With the upcoming Classic 350 though, it is a more thorough job as this spy image reveals. The entire instrument console has been updated.

It is still the same metal, body-coloured headlamp enclosure unit that we’ve seen on the Classic and Bullet models for ages. However, it is now an analogue-digital setup. It gets an analogue speedometer with the same classic fonts and numbers mentioned in km/h as well as mph.

Under it is a non-colour LCD screen which might display the trip meters, odometer, and maybe even the average fuel consumption. Right next to it is the full-colour circular TFT screen for the Tripper system. This will allow mobile phones to be paired to the screen and once the destination is confirmed on the mobile phone, navigational instructions will be displayed on this little TFT screen.

As aforementioned, the motorcycle will be powered by the same 350cc engine as the meteor. It has a maximum power output of 20.2bhp and a peak torque output of 27Nm. It is unknown at the moment if Royal Enfield will tune it differently for the Classic 350. Almost all details of the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 350 have been leaked by spy images. It does seem like we’re very close to the motorcycle’s launch, although the exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Next-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 to feature Tripper Navigation System?

facebook

The recently launched Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is the first motorcycle from the Chennai-based company to use the Tripper Navigation System. Now, the latest reports tell us that the next Royal Enfield bike to come equipped with this convenient feature could be the next-gen Classic 350.

Next Gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 Instrument Clus

The Tripper Navigation System is a sophisticated navigation solution. Powered by Google Maps and Royal Enfield App that connects smartphones with the motorcycle through Bluetooth, it indicates directions through an intuitive display. Now, based on the next-gen Royal Enfiled Classic 350 spy shots, it appears that the company would implement the Tripper Navigation System in this motorcycle next.

It can be seen in the spy pictures that the instrument cluster of the next-gen Classic 350 would have a small LCD below the main analogue dial that is likely to show details such as odometer, trip meter, clock, etc. On the right of this display is a circular empty space which could be used by Royal Enfield to fit the Tripper Navigation System.

Do you think Royal Enfield should provide the Tripper Navigation System in its future models or keep it as an exclusive feature for the Meteor 350? Let us know your views in the comments.

Since the next-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 is based on the brand’s all-new 350cc platform, most probably it will be powered by the same 349cc single-cylinder engine which we have made its debut in the Meteor 350. It is a BS6 motor which comes with a balancer shaft and SOHC set up for reduced vibrations. It is capable of delivering a maximum power of 20.2 bhp and a peak torque of 27 Nm.

There have been several sightings of the next-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 test mules. We wouldn’t be surprised to see more information about the upcoming motorcycle surfacing in the near future.

trip navigator royal enfield classic 350

Royal Enfied, the Chennai based bike maker is gearing up to introduce the all-new Meteor 350 motorcycle in the Indian market soon. It will most likely be launched by the end of September or early October.

The Meteor 350 is going to be RE's first ever bike to be equipped with Tripper Navigation feature which is company's own version of a turn-by-turn navigation system. For the record, bike makers such as TVS Motor Company and Hero MotoCorp have already equipped their select motorcycles with such a feature.

This retro instrument console is expected to go well along with the overall appeal of the Meteor 350.

The leaked document suggests that the 'Tripper Navigation' digital dial will be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth and will display road directions directly onto the TFT screen. This feature will be specially helpful for the long distance travelers who love to explore newer destinations on a motorcycle. It is going to be part of the standard kit across all the variants of the motorcycle - Fireball, Stellar and Supernova.

What is "Trip F" for?

Getting there....

The manual says: "Trip “F” is provided to measure distance travelled by the vehicle when fuel level in the vehicle is 5.5 +0.5 lts. in the fuel tank so that the rider can plan fuel filling accordingly based on his trip requirements, Trip “F” will get activated when needle on fuel gauge enters the red zone." Doesn't Trip "A" and "B" also measure distance traveled from whenever you zero it? It's not like in some cars where it estimates miles to empty, is it? I'm not sure what the point is.

"F" measures miles from entering "reserve" - giving you distance since your fuel level was measured as low. Mine comes on early - with about 1.4 US gals left. That gives me about 100 miles to bone dry. If you know you safely have 50 miles to empty, it serves the same purpose as the automotive style miles-to-empty in a less sophisticated way - which is what the Himmy is all about.

Running your tank dry is going to damage the fuel pump. Apparently the pump uses the fuel to lubricate the bearings, not to sure but if someone can confirm????? As soon as "F" comes on I fuel up asap, its only happened once but as a rule I refuel when the gauge gets to the halfway mark.

Overdrive

Most on here seem to get around 80/85 mpg (uk) without trying too hard.

Both the fuel gauge and the Trip F are inaccurate. Mine is near new and was near the red so filled it and it took only 7 litres. Next fill the Trip F came on after a couple of hundred Km, rode another 50km to top up and it took 9 litres. The tank hold 15 litres by the book so the Trip F comes on at about 1/2 a tank but by the manual it should be 1/3 of a tank. Not the end of the world but a fuel level reminder at half a tank is not very useful to me.

Kirkew

Finally made it

I'm in awe of anyone getting 80 mpg (3 l/100km)! Since I fitted the 16-tooth engine sprocket my economy is much better but as soon as I have the luggage fitted I'm back in the 4-5 L/100. (58- 48) Factor in rain and a headwind and I'm lucky to get 200km from a tank!

Yeah, fuel economy dips hard after certain speeds on the Himalayan, and aero (or lack of it) starts playing into it. I saw 75-85 MPG even with front bags in the first 6K miles riding mostly backroads at 45-55MPH, with the occasional jaunt to 60. After my bike was fully broke in and I started trusting it, I changed the rear gear and began riding freeways for longer jaunts. I've seen dips into the 50's MPG, and one time rode against a really mean headwind that wouldn't let me exceed 60MPH unless I tucked and ducked! 65-70MPH gets me in the low 60's MPG, while 50-55MPH will get 75-80MPG most of the time, from my experience. Trip F is a quirky thing, and when it triggers, the fact it replaces the usual Trip meters annoys me enough to just go and refuel lol. I have refueled within a mile of Trip triggering and my bike only took 2.2 gallons to fill back up. I have also exceeded 100 miles on Trip F and bike took just under 3 gallons. It's not really consistent.

Fuel gage senders don't measure the fuel quantity, they only measure the fuel height. Due to the shape of most moto gas tanks the bottom 1/4 holds a different quantity of gas than the top 1/4 of the tanks height. True, fuel does cool and lubricate the fuel pump assemblys innards but...plain old " oh shit I ran outta gas " when it happens won't kill it. Running one dry will shorten the pump sections life if done for long enough time or done often enough.

Look mate, lets keep this simple and joke-free. When 'Trip F' lights up, put some fuel/petrol/gasoline in that baby WITHIN 50-70 miles (I'm in USA) and you'll not run out, with room to spare. Why push it? - these things are supposed to be fun! Why run dry? Ride on, lad!

Spoody

Uncle Voodoo ran his Himalayan out of gas. He got 180 miles before the F level came up and 130 miles after. The F level indication is extremely pessimistic .

McQueen216

Your 15l (+/-.5) will let you use your Trip A and Trip B features, but the ECU will - on the Himmy and the Scram - automatically switch to Trip F when the fuel level reaches 4l (+/-.5). This is in conjunction with the low fuel light coming on, also. As mentioned - and as Uncle Voodoo tackled - Trip F then counts up the miles. If the counter reaches 200, it will begin to flash. I haven’t tested this - I’ve just RTFM. Adding fuel to raise the level to above 4l will release the hold on Trip A / B at the next start of the bike. It takes a couple of minutes as the bike takes several readings to ensure it’s not a false or premature thing.

I have found it pretty useless myself, as it starts to show up, disappears, shows up again, disappears and each time always resetting to 0. I imagine this is due to the fuel sloshing around in the tank when the sensor is right at the edge of the fuel level. The owner's manual says a "Low Fuel" warning will light up on the LCD at around 200 km of a low fuel condition tripping the "F" display, but by then you risk fuel pump damage. Great! 100% agree. Best just to fill up soon after seeing the "F" odo showing up.

  • Tripper Navigation now an accessory on Meteor 350, Himalayan
  • Change in effect from May 1, 2022
  • Royal Enfield hikes booking amount for made to order bikes.

Royal Enfield has made a feature revision to the new Meteor 350 and the Himalayan adventure bike with the deletion of the Tripper Navigation system. Both bikes previously received the system as standard, though now it can only be fitted as an accessory. However, as per the company's website, there is likely to be a wait for those wanting the system with the configurator listing the system to be out of stock.

In a statement, the company said,”The ongoing global semiconductor shortage continues to pose a challenge for the automotive industry at large. As the shortage situation continues to prevail, we have decided to optimise the use of semiconductor chips by making a temporary decision to shift the Tripper Navigation device feature as an additional, plug-and-play option on the Meteor 350 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan.”

The tripper navigation pod is now available an option on the Meteor 350 and the Himalayan

The feature change came into effect from May 1 and is already reflected in the company's configurator with the Meteor 350 now displayed with only a singular offset instrument pod on the handlebar. The Himalayan in the configurator meanwhile lacks the additional Tripper Navigation gauge on the right of the main instrument cluster.

With the company calling it a temporary measure one can expect the feature to be made available as standard again once the semiconductor shortage situation improves.

The company has also said that it has hiked the booking amount for its made to order models though the company has not revealed a booking amount. The bookings amount for standard bookings remains at Rs 10,000.

  • In 2024, Hunter 350 received new paint schemes, Dapper O and Dapper G, to make an already dapper motorcycle even more attractive.
  • The Hunter 350 retains its classic design, with no internal changes, but remains joyous to ride with its lightweight, responsive engine.

Royal Enfield has unquestionable supremacy when it comes to the 350cc retro-styled motorcycle market. Since its 2010 launch, the Classic 350 has grown to be the Indian motorcycle manufacturer's most popular model. The Meteor 350 followed suit, becoming the first model of RE's brand-new 350cc J-series platform introduced in 2020. The platform was so successful that it led to a revived Classic 350 (and the Bullet 350) in time to come. And then came the Hunter 350 in 2023.

It has been exactly a year since the Hunter 350 was launched in America shortly after it was first revealed in Asian markets. It's safe to say the entry-level roadster from Royal Enfield has gone on to be a gigantic success. It is an ideal choice for novice riders as well as enjoyable for more experienced riders who just want something easy and peppy. Now, the Indian bikemaker is eyeing to lure in even more buyers for 2024. How? By making its most affordable motorcycle even more dapper. Here's why the Hunter 350 still makes for a great buy in 2024.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 And Super Meteor 650: Key Differences

What’s new on the 2024 royal enfield hunter 350, say hello to new paint schemes.

Taking the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach, RE has introduced two new liveries for the Hunter 350 . These are called Dapper O and Dapper G. The first one comprises a deep orange–almost red–finish, complete with bright orange accents on the tank, battery cover, and color-matched pinstripes. Whereas, the second boasts deep green paint in the same places. Again, bright green accents–on the wheels, tank, and battery cover–wrap up the livery.

It’s worth noting both bikes also have color-matched finishes for the ‘Royal Enfield’ lettering on the tank. In case you forgot, the Rebel range comes with a dual-tone finish on the tank. It’s also the priciest. Not a fan? Then, you’d be happy to know no previous color has been discontinued. You can still have the Hunter in the following colors.

The 2024 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Remains Unchanged Internally

Powered by the same j-series engine.

Everything else remains unchanged on the Hunter 350. So you get Royal Enfield’s trusty 349cc, single-cylinder powerhouse that thumps out 20 horsepower and 20 pound-feet. It is the same engine powering the Meteor and Classic. The throttle mapping has been somewhat modified, though. For a bike like this, the throttle feedback is fairly decent when you get going.

Compared to the other 350cc bikes in Royal Enfield's lineup, the Hunter 350 is far more responsive. That is due to its overall weight being the lightest in Enfield's books, which ensures a more than acceptable power-to-weight ratio. Talking about power, it reaches the wheel via a 5-speed transmission, and there are no rider aids to rob you of the low-end grunt. That might not sound like a lot, but the J-series engine is properly fun for city duties, as we discovered while riding the Hunter .

Engine Specifications

The 2024 royal enfield hunter 350 continues to be a joy to ride, with the same, dependable underpinings.

The Hunter 350 retains the classic 350cc Royal Enfield design. It features the same round headlamp design, vintage aesthetic, and a recognizable silhouette. To give this bike a more contemporary roadster appearance, several alterations were made over the previous 350s, although that quintessential Triumph influence is quite evident. The only complaint, however, is that the Hunter 350 is devoid of an LED headlamp even in 2024.

As for finer details, the motorcycle hides a steel double-cradle chassis – reminiscent of the Classic 350. This is tied to 41 mm telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers, each paired with sporty 17-inch alloy wheels (the first for RE's 350cc range). Single disc brakes, with Bybre calipers, help this 399-pound roadster come to a halt. Like everything else, the Hunter keeps things simple in the features department as well. You get a semi-digital instrument cluster, which shows trip meters, fuel level, speed, time, and gear position. Bulb-type lights are present all around, along with a USB port.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Underpinnings

Gear up, six new royal enfield bikes are around the corner, the re hunter 350’s new colorways aren’t available in america yet, but it still remains an attractive option.

Yes, you read that right. In typical RE fashion, the new colors of the roadster are only available in its local Indian market for now. There’s no word when these will reach the global market, or whether they are India-only options. Anyway, you’d be happy to know the Hunter 350 is currently on sale in North America. Prices start at $3,999 and go up to $4,199, making it the cheapest RE here. Chuck that, one of the cheapest over-300cc bikes on the continent!

2024 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Key Competitors

How it fairs among direct rivals.

The Hunter 350 is a fantastic bike with sturdy construction. It is comfortable for all kinds of riders, handles unlike any other Enfield out there, and on top of that, looks amazing. Having said that, the sub-500cc market is massive. Catering to beginner riders, there are all kinds of bikes for different types of riders. So it is only obvious that the Hunter has a handful of rivals to compete against.

These come in the form of the Triumph Speed 400 and Honda CB300R . Both, the Speed 400 and CB300R are more expensive offerings, although the ride quality is vastly different in all three. Triumph's roadster is the latest of the three, in case that is of importance to you. It is also the fastest and the most fun to own. With that said, we're quite sure that if you're considering the Hunter 350, it is not for the speed. It is because of its recognizable Royal Enfield simplicity, the retro appeal, and most importantly, the price tag. Comment below if you think we're wrong!
