General Advice & Guidelines for Al-Aqsa

Please note Hasan Travel & Tours does not guarantee entry into Israel, this decision is with the authorities at Tel Aviv airport.

Entering via Tel Aviv:

Most airlines fly to Tel Aviv; and the waiting area in the airport is relatively comfortable. Tel Aviv airport is prohibited to most Palestinians, which means that on arrival, most people you see are Israeli, and as a Muslim you are in a very small minority in the airport. You must aim to arrive at Tel Aviv airport at least 3 hours early when departing Israel to clear all the security checks. These start enroute to the airport at checkpoints, and continue from the moment one steps foot in the airport. On arrival at the immigration desk, some travellers who look Muslim, have a Muslim name, or whose background is from the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent will inevitably be directed to the “waiting room” and asked to wait for an officer to come and speak to them. It is not uncommon to be in the waiting room for a few hours, and you will most likely be questioned once or twice.

Will my passport get stamped?

They don’t stamp your passport, they stamp a separate paper with your visa details.

Types of questions asked at the borders:

Regardless of which border crossing you choose to travel to, you will inevitably be questioned by security on a number of occasions. The questions usually include the following:

  • Names of parents, grandparents, great grandparents?
  • Ethnic background?
  • Type of employment you work in?
  • Any association to charitable or Human Rights organisations?
  • Where do you give your zakat and sadaqah?
  • Name of Mosques you attend in your home country?
  • Reasons for visiting other countries (esp if Muslim countries)?
  • Purpose of visit to Israel?
  • Places you intend to visit in Israel?
  • Name of accommodation?
  • Any contacts in Israel?
  • Any contacts in Jordan (if travelling by King Hussein Bridge)?
  • How much money are you travelling with?
  • Occasionally Israeli security will ask for access to your email account, Facebook account and other social media – and may make this a condition of entry.
  • If you mention that you will be visiting any cities in the West Bank, you will be extensively questioned on this, and will most likely have to spend more time at the border before an entry visa is granted. In addition – the Israelis may limit your visa to West
  • Bank only, which can be problematic.
  • Is it safe to travel to Palestine?
  • As a tourist it is as dangerous as any other place, wherever you travel in the world there is a chance of danger if you don’t abide by the rules.

Palestine is no different, all the religions are living with each other and people are getting on with their normal lives. There is trouble in Gaza and unrest in West Bank. Gaza is very far from Jerusalem, hence the chance of trouble is less likely there.

What happens if we do encounter problems?

As British passport holders they have to treat us the same as any other tourists. The police and soldiers are very careful around you if you are a tourist. If they mistreat a tourist they will lose their job. The British Embassy is always there for you if you are mistreated in any way. – In sha Allah you will have a safe journey.

  • Can we take family? – Yes you can. We actively encourage families young to old to make this journey.
  • Can we enter Masjid al-Aqsa? – Yes. There is no age limit. There are many entrances to the Al Aqsa compound which are guarded by Jewish soldiers, their job is to stop non-Muslims from entering the Masjid al-Aqsa.

Under a leaden sky, worshippers pour out of the Lion's Gate after Friday prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque compound. From a distance, Zeina Amro watches the exodus. Once, she was a teacher and guide inside al-Aqsa; now, she cannot legally step onto the premises of Islam's third holiest site. 3 Haram Trip

Al-aqsa (only) trip, ramadan hotel group, summer holidays, christmas holidays, ramadan iitikaaf, al-aqsa trips.

Masjid Al-Aqsa is the third holiest mosque in the Islamic tradition. A mosque deeply rooted in Prophetic history and the destination of the famous Al-Israa W’Al-Mi’raaj (night journey and ascension) undertook by The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) before travelling to the heavens. Situated in the heart of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), a city which has been a focal point for so many different religions since the start of time.

Praying in Masjid Al-Aqsa carries 500 times the reward of praying elsewhere and is one of the three Masjids that Muslims are allowed to travel for reward. An opportunity of a lifetime and one that every person should embark upon in their life.

We offer various trips throughout the year. Our trips are DIY trips with the aim of giving you the opportunity to travel to the blessed land of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and visit Masjid Al-Aqsa in an economical way under the supervision of people who have travelled to Al-Aqsa. “ We had an excellent trip with VisitAqsa - from the initial contact till the end it did not disappoint. Each step during our journey was made very simple and easy and was well organised.  The group leader, Shahban, and the imam went above and beyond to make each individual of the group feel comfortable and welcomed - no request was too small or too large for them. I highly recommend booking with VisitAqsa for an excellent spiritual experience of a lifetime. Can’t wait to go again! "

How To Visit Masjid Al-Aqsa From The UK

Masjid Al-Aqsa, Umrah & More

  • August 28, 2023 3:08 pm

Mubarak On Your Intention!

Alhamdulillah for your heartfelt intention to set foot in the blessed lands of Masjid Al-Aqsa. Embarking on this journey is like stepping into an abode of spirituality and history, where every corner resonates with the echoes of the countless Prophets (AS), Sahabah (RA) and the ritcheous who once graced its sacred ground. The serenity and profound connection one feels within the Masjid is unparalleled, boosting one’s iman and leaving a yearning to return time and again.

In recognising the significance of this journey, we’ve crafted this guide to assist you in making an informed decision about your pilgrimage. Whether travelling solo, with family or friends, understanding the benefits of partnering with a tour operator can make a world of difference in streamlining your experience. With the right preparation and understanding, you can ensure that your trip is not only spiritually fulfilling but also logistically seamless.

Getting A Visa

For those travelling with a UK passport, you’re in luck. The visa process is relatively simple as you will be granted one upon arrival. However, if your passport is from a different nation, it’s essential to verify visa regulations ahead of time. Some countries’ citizens might need to arrange their visas through the Israeli embassy prior to their trip.

Going With A Tour Group

The pilgrimage to Masjid Al-Aqsa is not merely a journey through lands, but a deep dive into the essence of our Islamic heritage and spirituality. Opting for an experienced tour operator not only provides convenience but enriches this spiritual journey to truly make this an experience of a lifetime.

With an experienced tour operator, your path to Masjid Al-Aqsa is illuminated with profound insights. Walking the same grounds where prophets once tread, qualified Islamic scholars and local guides accompany you, their deep understanding creates moments of reflection and a bond with our rich Islamic history.

When travelling beyond Jerusalem, your journey continues in comfort, guided by those who understand both the significance and subtleties of the sites you visit. From the cool shade within the bus to the collective ‘Ameens’ uttered together, every aspect reaffirms the beauty of undertaking this pilgrimage in unity.

In essence, choosing a tour operator is more than seeking convenience. It’s about embracing an educational, spiritual, and communal journey, ensuring that this pilgrimage resonates deeply with the core of our Islamic faith.

Going Solo Through A Tour Operator

Should you seek a more bespoke journey but still want everything planned and managed for you, this is your best option. Tour operators craft a customised ground package tailored to your needs with a well-planned itinerary. Upon arrival, be it at the airport or the Jordanian Allenby border crossing, efficient transfers ensure you have transport ready to take you to your accommodation without delay. Your meals, from breakfast to freshly cooked dinners are pre-arranged.

Moreover, local guides are scheduled to provide a thorough tour of the Masjid Al-Aqsa compound and surrounding sacred sites, ensuring you have a well informative experience. If you wish to venture beyond Jerusalem, to locations like Masjid Al-Khalil to the Maqams of Nabi Ibrahim or Nabi Musa (AS), you’ll need to go through security checkpoints. But with an experienced guide, this becomes an effortless task and everything is arranged for your ease and comfort.

Going Solo Without A Tour Operator

For those who value the allure of independent travel, visiting Masjid Al-Aqsa presents a unique experience full of richness and depth. For a seamless journey, particularly if this is your maiden visit, a certain level of planning is advised. One of the initial considerations should be the logistics, from your point of arrival to settling down at your hotel in Jerusalem.

The region around Masjid Al-Aqsa and the Islamic Sites beyond the city of Jerusalem have a tapestry of history, politics, and spirituality. Consequently, moving between different locations is not just about navigating through roads. It’s about traversing areas overseen by diverse administrative bodies, such as Israeli security or Palestinian Authorities. While these measures are in place to ensure safety and order, it’s beneficial to be aware of the dynamics.

Moreover, should your spiritual journey take you beyond Jerusalem to sacred places like the Maqams of Nabi Ibrahim, Nabi Yunus, and Nabi Musa (AS), you’ll encounter security checkpoints, if prompted by officials you will generally be asked to show your passport and visa along with confirming your purposes of crossing the checkpoint. In these situations, a knowledgeable guide can greatly enhance the experience, ensuring it remains both spiritually rewarding and logistically smooth. Choosing to explore independently has its charms, but the insights provided by an experienced guide in this distinctive setting are truly invaluable.

While the journey to Masjid Al-Aqsa and its surrounding sacred sites can be navigated independently, being well-informed and prepared enhances the experience immeasurably. The blend of history, spirituality, and cultural intricacies in this region is unmatched, and every step taken here is a step closer to deep spiritual enlightenment.

Importance of Your Visa Slip

Ensure you keep the paper visa safe with you and carry it  at all times  until you depart, this is important as security personnel may request to see this whilst travelling. This document acts as a record for your proof of entry. As with all vital travel documents, it’s essential to have it readily available if needed.

Your pilgrimage to Masjid Al-Aqsa is a spiritually significant journey, and understanding the logistics of your visit is key to ensuring a smooth experience. With this knowledge about the immigration process, we hope you can embark on your journey with peace of mind.

Remember Your Purpose

As visitors to Masjid Al-Aqsa, it’s paramount to keep in mind the core intent of your journey which is to immerse yourself in prayer and worship at Masjid Al-Aqsa. While each individual may hold their own political views, this pilgrimage is an opportunity for spiritual reflection, not political engagement. Always remain conscious of this and prioritize your spiritual growth whilst visiting the sacred Masjid.

Enjoy Your Visit!

The immigration process, even if it takes a few hours, is but a brief moment in your journey. What truly matters is the invaluable time you will spend in the sacred grounds of Masjid Al-Aqsa.

In addition to the blessed Masjid, you will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the warmth and hospitality of the locals, indulge in the delightful local sweets, eat at traditional restaurants, and lose yourself in the bustling souqs overfilled with life and colour. As you navigate this unique blend of spirituality and cultural richness, treasure every moment in this amazing land.

The 3 Holy Mosques Tour – Masjid Al Haram, Masjid Al-Nabawi, Masjid Al Aqsa

3-holy-mosques-tour

The 3 holy mosques tour is a tour to the three holiest mosques of the world, which are – Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah and Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem . As per Islamic teachings, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explained that the journey to these three mosques is the only one that Muslims must prepare for. Considered as the most sacred sites on Earth, the three mosques hold immeasurable significance in the history and culture of Islam. One can make plans for this tour while deciding to perform Umrah.

3 Holy Mosques Tour Significance

There are numerous holy sites that Muslims can visit and see. Especially the ones written in the holy Qur’an are of massive significance to devout Muslims. The 3 holy mosques tour covers the three most important of these places. Islamic traditions and verses in the holy book of the Qur’an reflect the significance of these mosques.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Do not prepare yourself for a journey except to three Mosques i.e. The Great Mosque of Makkah, the Mosque of Aqsa and My Mosque.” – (Bukhari 20:2)

The 3 Holiest Mosques

1. masjid al-ḥarām – the first site of the 3 mosques holy tour.

great-mosque-makkah-haram

Masjid al-Ḥarām is also known as the Great Mosque of Makkah. The name literally means ‘The Sacred Mosque’. For Muslims, it is one of the holiest places to visit and is credited as the world’s largest mosque. During the pilgrimage of Umrah and Hajj , millions of pilgrims gather in this mosque to pray at the holy Kaaba and attain salvation.

As per Islamic belief, the Great Mosque of Makkah was the creation of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) along with his son Ismail or Ishmael. Under the orders of Allah, they built both the Kabba and the Mosque. The revered Black Stone is located on the holy Kaaba’s eastern corner. Muslims believe that is the only remaining part of the actual structure built by Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH). Islamic teachings mention that the holy well of Zamzam is a miraculous well. It is believed to have never dried since it was discovered.

Presently, the Great Mosque of Makkah stands covering 356,800 square meters. It includes both indoor and outdoor praying areas. It is one of the most important sites in the 3 holy mosques tour.

2. Al-Masjid an-Nabawi – The second mosque of the 3 mosques holy tour

al-nabawi-aerial-view

Situated in Madina, the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi is also known as the Mosque of the Prophet. It is the second-largest and the second holiest mosque in the world. It is the third mosque built in the history of Islam and now serves as the final resting place of Allah’s peaceful messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The foundation of the original mosque was laid down by the Prophet (PBUH) himself. It was adjacent to the house where he lived after his migration to the holy city of Madinah in 622 AD. At that time, it was an open air structure that had an elevated dais for the Quran reading sessions. The mosque acted as a religious educational institution, court, and community center.

Apart from the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Mosque also houses the final resting place for the Rashidun caliphs, Umar and Abu Bakr. The southeast corner of the mosque has special importance. The Green Dome, which was actually the house of Bibi Aisha, now serves as the tomb area of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

3. Al-Aqsa – The final site of the 3 mosques holy tour

al-aqsa-mosque-jerusalem

Situated in the Old City of Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is also known as the Temple Mount. The place is not only sacred for Muslims but for Jews and Christians too. As per Islamic teachings, Al-Aqsa is the second mosque built right after the Masjid al-Ḥarām located in Makkah. Al-Haram Al-Sharif, also referred to as the Noble Sanctuary, is a 3-acre compound area that houses the Al-Aqsa. Here, pilgrims also pay homage at the Dome of the Rock. As per Islamic traditions, this is the structure where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to have stepped into Heaven. It is also a source of major conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Far-right Israeli settlers storm Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, perform Talmudic rituals

Far-right Israeli settlers storm Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, perform Talmudic rituals

Far-right Israeli settlers forced their way into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday and performed Talmudic rituals there.

Video clips shared on social media platforms showed the settlers performing their ritual in full view of Israeli police.

Nir Hasson, a journalist for Israeli daily Haaretz, posted a video on X showing right-wing settlers performing what is known as the “epic prostration” on the eastern side of the mosque, lying their bodies on the ground towards the Dome of the Rock, and praying loudly.

Last August, far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that Jews would be allowed to perform prayers in the mosque.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has repeatedly denied any change in the status quo at the mosque.

The status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque is the situation that existed before Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967, under which the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, is responsible for managing the mosque's affairs.

However, in 2003, Israeli authorities changed this status by allowing settlers to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque without the approval of the Islamic Waqf, which demands an end to these incursions.

Al Aqsa Mosque is the world's third-holiest site for Muslims. Jews call the area the Temple Mount, saying it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.

Israeli government to fund jewish settlers' storming of al-aqsa mosque for the first time.

tour to masjid al aqsa

The Israeli government plans to fund the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish settlers in the  occupied East Jerusalem  for the first time, Israeli media reported late on Monday.

Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu  ordered the allocation of two million NIS (around $522,000) for the project, set to be implemented in later weeks, according to broadcaster Kan.

Eliyahu has been coordinating with the National Security Ministry, led by extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir , to secure Israeli police approval for the settlers' funded tours to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Eliyahu’s move comes amid ongoing incursions into the Al-Aqsa complex by illegal Israeli settlers, often under the protection of Israeli police, with Ben-Gvir involved in some of these raids.

This announcement follows repeated assurances by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to maintain the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

This refers to the arrangement that existed prior to Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, where the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, under the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, managed the mosque's affairs.

However, in 2003, Israeli authorities altered this arrangement by permitting settlers to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque without the consent of the Islamic Waqf, which has consistently called for an end to these incursions.

Al-Aqsa Mosque holds significant religious importance as the third holiest site in Islam, while some Jewish people, who refer to it as the Temple Mount, believe it to be the site of two ancient Jewish temples with questions from archaelogists about these claims.

New audio of tense exchange between Netanyahu, hostage families

The development coincides with Ben-Gvir's highly publicised comments, earlier on Monday, where he openly suggested that he would build a synagogue at the Al-Aqsa compound if he could.

His comments led to widespread condemnation in the Middle East, as leaders in Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia denounced the continued targeting of the holy sites.

Ben-Gvir heads the extremist Jewish Power party, which has been described as fascist and anti-Arab, of which Heritage Minister Eliyahu is also a member.

Ben-Gvir has advocated for the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, the construction of illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory, and the shooting of Palestinian women and children.

Similarly, Heritage Minister Eliyahu, who has held his position since 2022, has made equally extreme remarks during Israel's military operations in Gaza.

Last November, Eliyahu controversially suggested that "using a nuclear weapon was an option" for the Israeli army and argued that Gaza "has no right to exist".

Pledging Not to Worship – Logic behind Israel’s Bizarre Restrictions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

tour to masjid al aqsa

By Fayha Shalash – Ramallah

Israel’s long history of occupation of Palestine does not only target Palestinians but also includes desecrating and destroying their holy sites.

Total control over the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem has always been a declared Israeli goal.

More specifically, Israeli government efforts to seize total control over the holy Muslim shrines began in earnest following Israel’s occupation of the remainder of historic Palestine in 1967.

Despite being under the custodianship of Jordan and the management of the Islamic Endowments Department in occupied Jerusalem, Israel is the entity that controls all important matters pertaining to the holy place.

Throughout the years Israel has taken escalatory measures to affirm its control over the Mosque. However, since the start of the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza in October of last year, the Israeli occupation authorities accelerated these measures in an attempt to change the ‘status quo’ of the holy shrine and to grant even more freedom for its illegal Jewish settlers.

Since last October, Israel has launched an undeclared campaign against the worshippers and visitors of Al-Aqsa Mosque. A large number of Palestinians have been prevented from praying at or visiting the holy mosque.

Palestinian journalist Bayan al-Jubeh, from occupied Jerusalem, told the Palestine Chronicle that the current situation at the mosque is unbearable and that access to prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque has become increasingly difficult.

One of the measures aimed at lowering the number of worshippers is through deportation campaigns.

Restricting Worship

Between October and April, over a thousand Palestinians from occupied Jerusalem and Palestine 1948 were deported and thus were prevented from even reaching the doors of the Mosque. If they attempt to do so they are instantly arrested.

“Access to dawn prayer has become very difficult and is only available to a small group of elderly people. While the restrictions ease slightly during the daytime hours, they (Israeli authorities – PC) reinforce them in the evening,” al-Jubeh said.

‘They Burned My Head with Their Cigarettes’ – The Story of the Israeli Arrest and Torture of a Palestinian Journalist

Even those allowed access to Al-Aqsa, whether the elderly or women, are subject to invasive searches, hours of detention at the Mosque’s doors, and confiscation of their ID cards.

It does not stop there, as some, at times, are arrested from inside the Al-Aqsa mosque for the most trivial reasons.

“Among the oppressive (Israeli – PC) measures to hinder the entry of worshippers are things like beatings, dragging and insults at the gates of Al-Aqsa. If any journalist happens to be there and films the attack, he would also be arrested, beaten, and his equipment confiscated,” al-Jubeh continued.

Arrest campaigns in occupied Jerusalem have spiked in an unprecedented manner since last October, as hundreds of activists, journalists and former prisoners, including women, were arrested.

This came in parallel with raids by the Israeli occupation police on villages in occupied Jerusalem to force residents to sign ‘personal pledges’ not to enter the Mosque.

‘State of Terror’ – A Day in the Life of a Palestinian Family from the Balata Refugee Camp

Ben-Gvir’s Racism

These measures aimed on the one hand at limiting the presence of Muslim worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and on the other at facilitating the illegal Jewish settlers’ incursions to the holy place to perform their prayers.

This systematic and growing policy of the Israeli occupation authorities has paved the way for the illegal settlers to comfortably storm the Mosque on a daily basis, always under heavy protection from the Israeli occupation forces.

This pattern of violent behavior was also encouraged by the racist statements made by the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir.

On June 5, Ben-Gvir called on the illegal Jewish settlers to perform prayers publicly at the Mosque, which was received by Palestinians as a stark provocation.

This didn’t stop there as the far-right minister announced, a few days ago, his wish to build a Jewish synagogue inside Al-Aqsa.

Judaization of the Ibrahimi Mosque – What is Israel’s Endgame in Al-Khalil

Abdullah Marouf, a researcher in the studies of Al-Aqsa Mosque, told the Palestine Chronicle that Ben-Gvir’s statements aim to establish a new status quo in the Mosque, in order to pave the way for all Jewish religious rituals to take place at the holy mosque.

Ben-Gvir’s racist statements come only one day after Knesset member Moshe Feiglin performed, along with others, the ‘ritual of prostration’, the first in his life, at the so-called ‘Temple Mount School.’

According to the researcher, even more serious than Ben-Gvir’s comments was the announcement made by the office of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, which indicated that it would maintain the status quo in the Mosque based on Israel’s vision.

This ‘vision’ includes performing all Jewish rituals openly in the Mosque without any obstacles.

Hours after Ben Gvir’s provocative statements, the Israeli government approved funding the raids of the Mosque by illegal Jewish settlers.

‘Decisive Plan’ – What You Should Know about the Israeli Strategy Aimed at Fragmenting the West Bank

The Israeli newspaper ‘Israel Hayom’ revealed on Tuesday that the government, in an unprecedented move, will start financing these incursions through the so-called Ministry of Heritage, for which it will allocate two million shekels (about 545 thousand dollars).

The plan includes conducting guided ‘tours’ for illegal Jewish settlers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque in the coming weeks.

“The second future goal – that neither Ben Gvir nor anyone else hides – is the need to designate a special place for Jewish worshippers, either by building a synagogue or allocating part of the buildings to them. This is the goal they have been striving to achieve for decades,” Marouf concluded.

Indeed, Israel’s long history of occupation of Palestine does not only target Palestinians but also includes desecrating and destroying their holy sites.

Israel's funding of settler tours to Al-Aqsa risks 'religious war': Hamas

Palestinian resistance group calls decision ‘dangerous escalation that could lead to a religious war in the region’

al aqsa photo anadolu agency

The Israeli government's decision to fund tours for illegal settlers of Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a “dangerous escalation” that could provoke a “religious war,” the Palestinian resistance group Hamas warned Tuesday.

The government’s decision to fund the “Zionist tours” is a dangerous escalation that risks igniting a religious war, “for which the occupation and its supporters bear responsibility,” Hamas said in a statement.

“This extremist fascist government is playing with fire, as it does not care about the repercussions of its Zionist behavior in violating the sanctity, status and identity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in our Arab and Islamic nation,” the statement added.

On Monday, the Israeli public broadcaster KAN said the office of Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu -- an extremist minister known for being anti-Palestinian -- will allocate 2 million shekels ($543,256) for guided tours, which is expected to be implemented in the coming weeks.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir told Israel’s Army Radio on Monday that his policy is to “allow Jews to perform prayers inside the Temple Mount (in reference to Al-Aqsa Mosque),” noting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knew his policy before forming the coalition government.

The announcement comes despite repeated claims by Netanyahu to preserve the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Ben-Gvir claimed Monday that Jews have the right to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque, saying that he would build a synagogue at the flashpoint site.

It was the first time for the Israeli minister to openly speak about building a synagogue inside Al-Aqsa Mosque. However, he has repeatedly called in recent months for allowing Jewish prayers at the site.

His call came amid repeated incursions into the complex by illegal Israeli settlers under police protection.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest site in Islam. Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, believing it to be the location of two ancient Jewish temples.
