- Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) after Stage 3: "Thanks to all my teammates for their work today, they put in a very strong effort to bring back the break and shut the attacks. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to catch Soler when he went off in the last climb, so the stage win got away today. I'm feeling better and I see my form improving, even under such awful conditions as the ones we had today."

- Wilco Kelderman (Bora-Hansgrohe) following Stage 3: "To say it was a horrible day would be an understatement but it is on stages as hard as this that the team's work stands out. Ben, Jordi and Burgi did a great job in controlling the race and catching the break while at the same time I was kept safe under these treacherous conditions and slippery roads. I finished with the select reduced group and will now focus on tomorrow's queen stage."

- Marc Soler (Movistar Team) won Stage 3 and is new overall leader.

- Rolf Aldag (Bahrain Victorious) after Stage 2, won by his rider Sonny Colbrelli: "After yesterday Sonny had the legs to win but was really close, so to build on that was the goal for today. It was really great to see the combination of a fast guy like Sonny and the GC guys (Jack and Damiano). We strategically put Pernsteiner in the breakaway, so we didn’t have to work. The mental strength of Pernsteiner was incredible to come back and work in the final. It was great to see. It shows the team spirit and how everyone is willing to work for each other to succeed. Today we got the reward, and I’m happy for Sonny, who worked so hard, and I’m proud of what the guys have done."

- Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Victorious) won Stage 2. Rohan Dennis retained the overall race lead.

- Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) following his Stage 1 victory: "I'm really happy to win again in the Tour de Romandie. In 2010 I had taken the first road stage and here I am eleven years later with another victory. I have to thank my teammates for their great job today, in the last two laps they were pulling in the front and after the last climb, they held the bunch together. It feels nice after three weeks without any racing to come here and win, probably the only stage suited to me because the following ones will be very hard. Thanks as well to the whole team and its sponsors for their continuous support."

- Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) won Stage 1. Rohan Dennis remains leader on G.C.

- Peter Sagan after the prologue: "Good opening time-trial in the Tour de Romandie that brought back nice memories from my first year as a professional rider. I gave my best to finish in a good position even if this short course wasn't particularly suited to me. I felt quite well, my condition is improving and I'll chase all opportunities in the next stages."

- André Schulze, Bora-Hansgrohe Sports Director: "It was quite a solid performance today. Wilco has put himself into a good position for the upcoming stages, and we're satisfied with the result of the Prologue. Tomorrow we're looking to the sprint, which we hope will be a stage for Peter."

- Wilco Kelderman (Bora-Hansgrohe) following the prologue ITT: "The parcours was very short today, but it was important to measure my effort to come in with a good time and avoid losing anything against the main GC contenders. I'm pleased with my result and am looking forward to the rest of the race this week."

- Rohan Dennis (INEOS Grenadiers) won the prologue individual time trial and is first leader in the general classification.

- Deceuninck-Quickstep lineup for the 2021 Tour de Romandie:

Mattia Cattaneo Rémi Cavagna Josef Cerny Dries Devenyns Ian Garrison Iljo Keisse Fausto Masnada

- Deceuninck-Quick-Step sports director Geert Van Bondt: "The Tour de Romandie is one of the hardest week-long stage races out there, with a lot of climbing and usually bad weather that can play an important role in the outcome, but we want to be prominent and get some strong results next week. We have three national time trial champions on the squad and they have what it takes to be up there in the two stages against the clock, although it should be noted that both time trials are very demanding and contain plenty of hurdles. Fausto is back from altitude training and we are curious to see what he can do in the general classification, while Dries, Mattia and Iljo bring in a lot of experience and will be there to support our ambitions."

- Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) won Stage 1 and took over the lead on G.C.

- Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) following his victory on Stage 1: "I didn’t expect to win here.  After Tirreno-Adriatico, I went on an altitude camp in preparation for my main goal, the Giro. I recently came back from it. Then you have to wait and see how things will go. It was a tough day with a lot of climbing. It’s a nice feeling that I was able to win, especially in a sprint. It surprised me, because normally there is always someone who is faster. Winning in Romandie always is a special feeling. I love to race here. In Steven, we have a pawn who can go for the GC. He rode very well today, just like the rest of the team. We will continue to keep doing our best."

- Results: Tratnik wins prologue .  (Cyclingnews) - Roglic just off the mark in Neuchâtel.

- Steffen Radochla, Bora-Hansgrohe Sports Director following the prologue: "It was a very technical time trial, with some tricky corners. Maciej put in a good effort, and also our two GC-contenders Felix and Emanuel rode a solid race, avoiding to lose any important time for the overall ranking. I think, it was a good start for us here at the Tour of Romandie with these results. It is a well-casted stage race, therefore we focus on tomorrow’s first demanding road stage."

- UAE Team Emirates roster for the 2019 Tour de Romandie:

– Tom Bohli (Swi) – Simone Consonni (Ita) – Rui Costa (Por) – Manuele Mori (Ita) – Simone Petilli (Ita) – Edward Ravasi (Ita) – Aleksandr Riabushenko (Blr) Directeurs sportifs: Simone Pedrazzini (Swi) and Bruno Vicino (Ita)

- Rui Costa (UAE Team Emirates) before the start of the 2019 Tour de Romandie: "The Tour de Romandie is a race that I always liked, also for its spot on the calendar at the end of the Ardennes Classics.  I climbed on the lowest step of the podium three times, taking advantage of my good form after racing in Belgium and the Netherlands. I hope to take a similar approach again this year, coming out of the Ardennes Classics and Liège-Bastogne-Liège in good shape, despite having suffered the cold weather on Sunday in the Doyenne. Looking at the overall, you have to consider this year the two time trials, suited to specialist. They will impact the results."

- Louis Meintjes (Team Dimension Data) before the start of the 2019 Tour de Romandie: "It is good to finally be lining up for a race again. It's been a slightly frustrating wait, recovering, from the crash at Paris-Nice but I am glad that is behind me now. Romandie will pretty much be like starting my season over again, which can be a good thing because even without knowing what kind of shape I do or don't have currently, we can still only build from here."

- Deceuninck-Quickstep lineup for the 2019 Tour de Romandie:

Eros Capecchi (ITA) Remco Evenepoel (BEL) James Knox (GBR) Davide Martinelli (ITA) Fabio Sabatini (ITA) Florian Sénéchal (FRA) Elia Viviani (ITA) Sports Directors Davide Bramati (ITA) Rik van Slycke (BEL)

- Deceuninck-Quickstep sports director Davide Bramati: "Next week’s race will be a hard one, bookended by time trials and with many hard climbs which will shape the general classification. On paper, one, maybe two stages, will end up in a bunch sprint, and if this will happen, then Elia – who can rely on a strong train – will be our man.  We also have two youngsters on the squad, Remco and James, who have impressed this season, finishing in the top 10 overall at World Tour events. We’re looking forward to having both back in action, without putting any pressure on them, just taking it day by day and see how it goes."

- CCC Team roster for the 2019 Tour de Romandie:

Will Barta (USA) Patrick Bevin (NZ) Jakub Mareczko (ITA) Łukasz Owsian (POL) Joseph Rosskopf (USA) Francisco Ventoso (ITA) Riccardo Zoidl (AUT) Sports Directors: Fabio Baldato (ITA), Gabriele Missaglia (ITA)

- More pre-race comments from Fabio Baldato: "We want to give the opportunity to everyone on the team to go out there and try to get a personal result. Some of the riders usually ride to support their leaders and in this race, they will have a chance to showcase themselves. Łukasz Owsian and Will Barta will look for their chances in the breakaways and hopefully one of them will go all the way. Even though the top ten of the General Classification may be hard to achieve, we are still very motivated to do well. We will take every stage day-by-day and see where that approach will take us. We are hoping that Bevin will have a successful performance in the prologue and then we will take it from there. A good start to a race always raises morale and the team spirit for the next stages."

- CCC Team Sports Director Fabio Baldato: "Our main objective for the Tour de Romandie is the prologue and the final time trial. With Patrick Bevin and Joey Rosskopf in the roster, we believe that we can fight for a top-five result or even a podium on those two stages. We are coming to Switzerland with no pure climber, and since there is a tough mountain top finish stage on day four, we don’t have big expectations in terms of the General Classification. However, we want to race aggressively and battle for stage wins. Riccardo Zoidl can do well in the mountainous terrain and Jakub Mareczko, who is also in good condition, should be up there with the best sprinters on stages two and three if it comes down to a bunch finish."

- Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) following his win on Stage 5: "The guys worked hard to support me the whole day, and in the end Rudi Selig brought me into the perfect position in the last 200m. I am very thankful for all the hard work of my teammates. It was a real goal of ours to win today and we achieved this. The race has not been easy and it was difficult for me to stay within the time limit on the penultimate stage. So it is nice to see that our hard work paid off."

- Steffen Radochla, Bora-Hansgrohe Sport Director following Stage 4: "The plan was to attack before the last climb. After the attack that Pawel Poljanski and Emanuel Buchmann put in on the slopes of the penultimate climb, Emanuel was able to successfully bridge to the leading group. At the base of the last climb, the escapees had about a one minute advantage. The first part of the climb was not too steep and didn’t lead to any significant difficulties. However, then Team Sky took over the bulk of the pace making in the main field and the advantage of the leaders dropped to 30 seconds. I think that Emanuel put in an excellent performance today."

- Richie Porte (BMC Racing) following the Stage 3 mountain time trial: "I felt good until about 2km to go and then I exploded but I was happy to finish it off like I did. It was a good ride and I think all of us are extra motivated by the passing of Andy Rihs last week so, it's nice to come to his backyard and have a good ride.  Overall, I'm happy. It was a strong ride but normally I don't think I would have blown up as badly as I did in the final couple of kilometers. However, the team has been great behind me especially my coach, David Bailey, so we're motivated to try and finish this race off well."

- Steffen Radochla (Bora-Hansgrohe directeur sportif): "Today the peloton gave the escapees too much of an advantage, and so the break wasn’t able to be brought back. With 50km remaining, the peloton had to crest a difficult climb, and it was at this point that Bahrain-Merida increased the tempo in order to shed the other sprinters. Pascal Ackermann wasn’t able to keep up with the tempo and was therefore unable to be in the mix in Yverdon-les-Bains today."

Merhawi Kudus Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier Nicholas Dlamini Steve Cummings Nic Dougall Johann van Zyl Jaco Venter

- Gino van Oudenhove (Dimension Data directeur sportif): "Tour de Romandie is the next of a hard and high level WT race for us. Nevertheless, this is a great opportunity for some of our riders to step up and take their chances. With a prologue, a climb time trial and a lot of climbing, it fits riders like Steve and Amanuel very well. Also Merhawi showed good riding in the Alps. The amazing riding of Ben in the Alps should give us some good vibes and to the riders to discover the opportunities to show some good results."

I was sad and frustrated, but this only fueled my motivation to work hard and come back to racing fully recovered. I’ve raced only once before in Switzerland, in my debut season with the pros, but this will be my first time in the Tour de Romandie and I’m excited and eager to join again my teammates and ease back into racing as I start my second half of the season, which I hope to be an injury-free and successful one."

Last year's winner Adam Yates and third-placed Damiano Caruso both return to this six day-stage race in Romandie, the French speaking area of west Switzerland to battle again in the region's beautiful mountain scenery.

Read on and we'll show you how to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams from anywhere with a VPN , and potentially for FREE .

Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams take place between Tuesday, April 23 and Sunday, April 28. Start times vary. • FREE STREAMS —   Watch on SRF (Switzerland) •   U.S. — Watch on FloBikes •   U.K. — Watch on Discovery+ • Watch anywhere — Try NordVPN

Starting with a minuscule 2.3km prologue in the town of Payerne, the 77th Tour de Romandie will cover a total of 657km and pack in over 11,000m of climbing with a time trial on stage three and summit finishes on both stages two and four at Les Marécottes and Leysin.

Favourite to repeat his victory of last year will be Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) who will be backed up by a strong team including Pavel Sivakov, Felix Großschartner and Juan Ayuso. Leading the challenge will be the ever improving Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) winner of the recent Giro d’Abruzzo Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Qazaqstan Team) and young French star Lenny Martinez (Groupama - FDJ).

The course isn’t just for the climbers though as with a prologue and a mid-race time trial many TT specialists are on the start sheet too including Josh Tarling and Ethan Hayter from (INEOS Grenadiers) and Rémi Cavagna (Movistar Team).

Stage four, the Queen stage of the race lived up to all the hype providing a pulsating finale on the finishing climb. The win and race lead were both up for grabs and it was Richard Carapaz (EF Education–EasyPost) who took the stage, but only just from the fast approaching Florian Lipowitz (Bora-Hansgrohe).

Behind the race for the overall was just as exciting as overnight leader Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) cracked opening the door for another young Spaniard Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers) to pull on the yellow jersey.

The final stage, stage five sees the race cover 150km around the town of Vernier so read on to find out where to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 cycling action live, wherever you are in the world.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race.

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.

Tour de Romandie Féminin: Demi Vollering pips teammate Kopecky to victory on stage 2 summit finish

D emi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) won stage 2 of the Tour de Romandie Féminin, outsprinting her teammate Lotte Kopecky after a hard ten-kilometre climb to Vercorin. Gaia Realini (Lidl-Trek) finished third, 34 seconds behind.

After a mostly flat start, the stage came down to the final climb overlooking the Rhône valley. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal) set the pace on the lower slopes before Mavi García (Liv-AlUla-Jayco) took over, steadily reducing the group until only 12 riders were left.

An acceleration by Niamh Fisher-Black (SD Worx-Protime) blew this group apart, and only Realini, García, and the three SD Worx-Protime riders were left at the three-kilometre mark.

Another acceleration by Realini dropped García, but when Fisher-Black also lost contact, Vollering eased off, allowing her teammate to return and launch her own attack.

Realini countered immediately, and only Vollering and Kopecky could follow the Italian climber. When Vollering made her move at the flamme rouge, Realini had to let go, but Kopecky inched her way back to her teammate's wheel, setting up a close-fought sprint for the line that Vollering won by a few centimetres.

“It was super hot today, and it was a hard final climb. It was stop-and-go the whole time, and I knew she [Kopecky, ed.] could do that really well. She was really strong today, and I wanted to outsprint her, of course. I actually thought I had dropped her, then I looked towards the line, and suddenly she was next to me. Luckily I won, but she was very strong today,” said Vollering describing the finish.

Due to the bonus seconds for her second place on stage 1, Kopecky takes the GC lead, two seconds ahead of Vollering.

“I don’t know. It’s a strange situation because I will leave the team, so I hope my team will be neutral on this. We will see tomorrow. Lotte is ahead of me, so probably they will go for her."

How it unfolded

The 101.9km stage consisted of two short laps and one longer lap in the Rhône valley, the longer lap including the third-category climb to Varen, before heading to the finishing climb to Vercorin.

Sofia Bertizzolo (UAE Team ADQ), Giada Borghesi (Human Powered Health), Noelle Ingold, and Jasmin Liechti (both Switzerland) formed the break of the day, but their advantage never rose to much more than one minute, and they were caught before the start of the Varen climb.

After an unsuccessful attempt by Rosita Reijnhout (Visma-Lease a Bike), Caroline Andersson (Liv-AlUla-Jayco) attacked from the peloton. She crested the climb with an eight-second gap but was caught in the descent.

Stage 1 winner Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) won the intermediate sprint with 13.6km to go followed by a high-speed run-in to the climb. Starting with 10km to go, it had an average gradient of 8.2% with ramps of up to 15%.

Moolman-Pasio set the pace early on, and 8.5km from the line, the South African made an acceleration that only Vollering and Chloé Dygert (Canyon-SRAM) followed, leaving a gap behind the trio. García closed the gap, and a kilometre later, she took over the pacing from Moolman-Pasio.

Several strong climbers like Élise Chabbey, Neve Bradbury, Antonia Niedermaier (all Canyon-SRAM), Évita Muzic (FDJ-Suez), Francesca Barale (DSM-Firmenich PostNL), and Riejanne Markus (Visma-Lease a Bike) were dropped on the first half of the climb.

At the 5km mark, only Vollering, Fisher-Black, Kopecky, Realini, Juliette Labous, Nienke Vinke (both DSM-Firmenich PostNL), García, Cédrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit-WNT), Barbara Malcotti (Human Powered Health), and the AG Insurance-Soudal trio of Moolman-Pasio, Sarah Gigante, and Lore De Schepper remained.

Vinke’s attack with 4.2km to go was shut down by García who then sneaked away herself, prompting Vollering to close the gap. This acceleration caused gaps to appear further down the group, and only five riders were left at the front going into the last three kilometres.

Realini’s attack 2.6km from the line dropped García, but Fisher-Black managed to get back on and launch her own move with 1.6km to go. Realini countered, and the New Zealander had nothing left to respond, leaving only Realini, Vollering, and Kopecky to fight for the stage.

Vollering attacked hard at the flamme rouge, dropping Realini, and Kopecky went around the Italian to try to bridge to her teammate, making the jump around 800 metres from the line. Vollering launched her sprint at the 200-metre mark, but Kopecky drew alongside her on the last metres, and both riders threw their bikes on the line, with Vollering timing her throw better to win the stage.
