After Forever: The Inside Story Of Black Sabbath’s Greatest Tour - review

A right sabbath romp.

You can trust Louder Our experienced team has worked for some of the biggest brands in music. From testing headphones to reviewing albums, our experts aim to create reviews you can trust. Find out more about how we review.

This is as personal as it gets. Krusher was the DJ, MC and confidante on the 1999 Ozzfest tour of America. Now, whether this truly was the greatest of all the band’s tours is irrelevant. What matters is that the combination of anecdotes, insights and previously unseen photos make this a delightful celebration of the era.

Without any hindrance from official sources, Krusher tells the story his way, never holding back on revealing the ridiculousness, hilarity and problems faced not just by Sabbath, but other bands on the road, such as Pantera and Slipknot.

Krusher documents the long, strange trip with vividness and vivacity. Some of the characters involved will doubtless be furious with certain revelations, but it’s all done with affection.

Malcolm Dome

Malcolm Dome had an illustrious and celebrated career which stretched back to working for  Record Mirror  magazine in the late 70s and  Metal Fury  in the early 80s before joining  Kerrang!  at its launch in 1981. His first book,  Encyclopedia Metallica , published in 1981, may have been the inspiration for the name of a certain band formed that same year. Dome is also credited with inventing the term "thrash metal" while writing about the  Anthrax  song  Metal Thrashing Mad  in 1984. With the launch of Classic Rock magazine in 1998 he became involved with that title, sister magazine Metal Hammer, and was a contributor to Prog magazine since its inception in 2009. He died in 2021 .

Big Time Rush to Go on National 'Forever Tour' This Year After Near Decade-Long Hiatus

The boy band released their first single in eight years this past December

Big Time Rush , known for their Nickelodeon show that debuted 13 years ago, is back in a big time way!

The boy band, which consists of Kendall Schmidt , 31, James Maslow , 31, Logan Henderson , 32, and Carlos PenaVega , 32, is embarking on a major national tour this summer, the group announced on the group's social media Monday.

Originally a group of hockey players, Big Time Rush got together at the start of their show in 2009, which ran until 2013.

Thanks to the show's success, the group went on to release three albums, which included hits such as "Worldwide" and "Boyfriend" — and performed across the globe.

In 2013, the band decided to go their separate ways but notably remained close friends throughout the years.

In March of last year, all four seasons of the Big Time Rush show were added to Netflix, and the band's fanbase revived once again.

In December, Big Time Rush marked their return to the music scene with the release of their first single in eight years, titled " Call It Like I See It ."

Now back together, their Forever Tour will start off on June 23 in Washington, D.C., and end up in Concord, CA on August 20.

Other major stops on the 40+ show tour include Boston, Toronto, New York, Orlando, El Paso, Phoenix and Los Angeles.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, with VIP packages ranging from $249 to $799 plus additional fees. More information is available on the band's website .

The tour will feature special guest Dixie D'Amelio of TikTok fame.

Talking to PEOPLE in December , the band described their reunion as "serendipitous," considering the fact that they were already plotting to get back together for a year and a half. Over the years, the band hinted at the idea of getting back together but never gave a solid answer as to when.

"A blessing in disguise was that the music was good when it started, but after a year of revising, revisiting, figuring out what we want to do, our music now is so much better. So everything happens for a reason. And we're super pumped for the fans," Maslow told PEOPLE.

"[The] universe was telling us, 'Big Time Rush get back together,' " Henderson added.

Returning to the recording studio together again wasn't easy, but in the band's true fashion, they found a way to make it a blast.

"We definitely had some rough patches, had some issues kind of finding our sound and knowing the vision for the music. But the best part was whenever we all came together, at James's house in Vegas, we just went in with open hearts, open minds about the music and a little bit of tequila," Henderson said. (They all hilariously agreed that the tequila helped.)

After all of these years working together, however, the band says their relationship is less like bandmates/co-stars and more like family.

"We're family a hundred percent," PenaVega shared. "Family that you can go two months without speaking and then you pick right back up or you can go six months or a year."

"You know, it's like brothers, you don't always get along with your siblings. But you always love them," Maslow added.

ALBUM REVIEW: After Forever (reissue) – After Forever

With their self-titled swansong, AFTER FOREVER ended the band on a high with an appropriately epic send-off. While never quite reaching the lofty heights of some of their countrymates ( WITHIN TEMPTATION perhaps being the closest analogue), AFTER FOREVER carved out their own take on the symphonic metal genre, weaving in progressive elements and extreme vocals to help keep things fresh. With the charge led by the inimitable voice of Floor Jansen (who of course is nowadays better known for fronting NIGHTWISH , the biggest name in the genre), AFTER FOREVER ’s final release incorporates the best elements of a band lost to time. Fifteen years since its original debut, After Forever still holds up.

In many ways, this album is a crash-course in symphonic metal. It’s a time capsule for a genre that, in the early 2000s, was certainly one of the most visible across the metal spectrum. On the record, AFTER FOREVER are almost chameleon-like as they move between the beautifully melodic and densely orchestrated ( Withering Time ), to more modern metal and gruff riffs ( Transitory ). Muffled drum samples, squelchy synth leads and aspects of electronica seep in here and there, whereas De-Energized borders on melodic death metal through its extreme vocals (courtesy of guitarist Sander Gommans ) and discordant guitars. On paper, it sounds like a cacophony of disparate sounds, but AFTER FOREVER excelled in making all these elements work as a cohesive whole. That ability to flex their creative muscles, while bringing it all together consistently was certainly their most distinctive. This is perhaps most true on the album’s centrepiece Dreamflight , an 11-minute voyage that showcases the band’s ability to create sprawling epics teeming with movements, lush orchestration, sonic textures and tonal shifts.

Of course, this variety is one that is only made possible by the sheer versatility of Jansen ’s voice. Withering Time is a masterclass in classical-tinged aggression. Jansen ’s piercing soprano vocals lead choirs of metallic intensity, while trading off with the guttural barks of Gommans – all cutting through heavy orchestration. On the other hand, Energize Me has the energy and delivery of stadium rock thanks to its belted choruses and less classical vocal tones. Cry With A Smile , the album’s closest thing to a power ballad, sees Jansen channel Sharon den Adel and Ann Wilson in one fell swoop, providing perhaps the best example of her vocal prowess. There’s a clear reason NIGHTWISH snapped the singer up when the opportunity arose, and After Forever remains a testament to Jansen being one of the genre’s best singers.

The original material aside, After Forever is not a hugely different album in its remastered and reissued guise. The new sonic coat of paint has added to the relative heft of the record, with denser and meatier guitars giving everything more of an aural weight. In doing so, some of the more atmospheric touches like light-touch synths feel slightly drowned out, but not significantly so. Overall, the album certainly feels less brittle than the original mastering job – although, some of that could be down to the obligatory increase in volume that comes with any modern remaster. In addition, the reissue boasts a couple of extra B-sides from the era; Lonely , a piano and voice ballad led by Jansen ’s captivating voice, and Sweet Enclosure , a fairly straight forward song in line with the band’s more accessible material. Both tracks are sure to entertain fans itching for a fix of more AFTER FOREVER . But then, those fans are likely to have already heard them all before, as they were spread across digipak and international editions at the time. Still, while not essential, it’s nice to have all the material in one place.

That in many ways sums up this reissue of After Forever ; not essential. While still a great album in its own right, there’s not a huge amount for long-time fans of the band to get stuck in to. They may appreciate the nuances and reinterpretations that come with a remastering, but the bonus content is relatively minimal at best. In the event that this was the gap in their AFTER FOREVER collection, then this release is probably the definitive version. Otherwise, there’s little incentive to pull them back in. However, for those who missed out on AFTER FOREVER while they were active, you could do a lot worse than this reissue as an entry point.

I would have given this reissued and remastered album a 10 out of 10 the absolutely beautiful creativity here and how they treated the vocals the guitars drums the keyboard the piano strings whoever did this review didn’t think that alot of people would enjoy a spectacular sound such as this and i wouldn’t be at all surprised if it gets so much attention that it gets put in rotation

After The Eras Tour Movie, Is Disney Boss Teasing More Taylor Swift Concerts Coming To Disney+?

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) may not be causing actual seismic activity from the home viewing parties that have been happening since the iconic concert special became available to stream with a Disney+ subscription , but it’s definitely making waves over at the House of Mouse. Disney CEO Bob Iger indicated as much during the shareholders meeting held April 3 , so is it possible that Taylor Swift will be teaming up with the streamer for future concert specials?

That question was asked directly to the CEO at the end of Wednesday’s call, and — as reported by our own Dirk Libbey — he didn’t have anything to announce at that time. However, Bob Iger did say that Disney wants to continue their great relationship with Taylor Swift.

The 13-time Grammy winner always has upcoming projects for Swifties to be excited about, so there’s undoubtedly plenty of potential for concert specials and more on Disney+ in the future. In addition to the Eras Tour concert film that was released in March, the streaming service was already home to Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions , a documentary where she spoke about and performed all 17 songs from her eighth studio album.

After Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour special left Netflix at the end of 2023, is it possible Disney+ could pick that up for itself — possibly to coincide with the as-yet-unannounced release date of Reputation (Taylor’s Version ) ? Could there possibly be accompanying material with the upcoming release of The Tortured Poets Department , Taylor Swift’s 11th album, out April 19?

With Bob Iger saying there was nothing immediate to announce, those possibilities don’t seem especially promising, but you can never tell with Swift, who is known to be very intentional about when and how she reveals these sorts of projects.

With the Midnights artist being the biggest celebrity in music right now — if not the world — Disney definitely should be looking for ways to grow their relationship with her. One of those avenues may be to bring more Taylor Swift into the Disney parks . Can you imagine a “Getaway Car”-themed roller coaster or a fireworks show where the kingdom lights can shine just for me and you?

Between Taylor Swift and Disney, there are more than enough creative juices to keep the projects coming. But as Swifties wait for those things to come to fruition, they appear to be more than happy to continue replaying their favorite moments of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie . The artist added all three acoustic sets from the shows that were filmed in Los Angeles, allowing fans to experience even more of the Eras Tour surprise songs than they got in theaters or by renting the concert special afterward.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) is available to watch online from anywhere and be sure to check out everything else that is new and upcoming to Disney+ .

Jennifer Lopez now touting tour as greatest hits show after canceling dates, struggling to sell tickets

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Jennifer Lopez is now touting her tour as a greatest hits show after canceling seven dates and struggling to sell tickets.

The name of the trek has changed from “This Is Me…Now” to “This Is Me…Live | The Greatest Hits,” according to Variety .

“The latest rebrand suggests a pivot from a tour focusing on the new album’s songs to one spanning her discography, a move that may entice listeners who didn’t connect with her latest material,” the outlet reported Tuesday.

A source told Page Six that the tour will “convey the Jennifer Lopez live experience” and was not created solely for the music from her latest album. It is, however, a “celebration which includes the new album.”

The “Jenny From the Block” singer, 54, originally announced the tour in February to concur with her “This Is Me…Now” album and accompanying films.

However, Lopez quietly canceled scheduled shows in Nashville, Raleigh, NC, Atlanta, Tampa, Fla., and New Orleans last month.

Additionally, concerts previously up for sale in Cleveland and Houston were removed from Ticketmaster’s website completely.

Ticketmaster blamed the cancellations on “the event organizer” and gave ticketholders information on how to obtain refunds.

Page Six was told at the time that the concerts could not be rescheduled because of a logistical issue through the promoter.

Not only is Lopez having tour trouble, but she also had issues selling her latest album.

After its February release, the project, which is her first studio album in over a decade, flopped on the Billboard 200 chart  by debuting at No. 38.

The “Selena” star’s record is about her love for her husband, Ben Affleck, whom she first  dated in the early aughts  before they wed in Las Vegas  in July 2022.

In a review, Page Six opined that the “watery” album recycled “uninspired sounds and stories from a quarter-century ago.”

Sabbath After Forever Tickets

Sabbath after forever concert tickets.

Get Sabbath After Forever tickets and tap into the artistic aggression of hard rock/metal. The genre began when Hard Rock crashed through the music scene in the mid-1960s with an edgy infusion that infiltrated the standard rock sound. It introduced a type of psychedelic distortion primarily driven by electric and bass guitar. The emerging genre was impossible to ignore and moving into the 1970s, bands like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith took Hard Rock to its pinnacle. True to music’s inevitable evolution, the sound got heavier and moodier, resulting in what has become known as metal. The hard rock/metal sound came to the forefront and appealed to a wide variety of listeners.

It represented the rebellion and artistic freedom of youth during the 70s and established itself as a channel of creative expression throughout the 1980s. Revered as one of the most enduring genres of music, it broke barriers and established itself as the signature sound of timeless bands like Black Sabbath and Metallica . It continues to influence artists and listeners alike, living on in the music of contemporary collectives like Mastodon, Korn and Disturbed. Witness the dynamic genre performed live when you buy Sabbath After Forever tickets from TicketSmarter.
