This is a simple travel trailer. Traveling in it won’t be the most comfortable experience, but it does the job. It is better than a tent.

The indoor kitchen of this RV is quite nice. It has 3 stoves, a refrigerator, and a sink. There are also plenty of overhead cabinets for storage. My only gripe with the cooking space is the fact that it is right next to the toilet!

The toilet in this RV trailer is very cramped. There is a shower in this RV trailer, but there is barely space to move in there.

So, this RV was definitely made with outdoor comfort in mind.

Inside, the trailer has an air conditioning unit for those hot days and a microwave. The cooking space is good, but the stoves are right next to the wall. So, it might be difficult to use long-handled saucepans on there.

There are two bunks in this RV trailer. The bottom bunk is right in front of a window though. So you may want to get a shade for that, otherwise, you won’t have any privacy when sleeping.

You can get a roll-down curtain that sticks to the window with suction cups. Kind of like what they use on car windows where children sit.

The best thing about this RV is the fact it has a wet bath. The bathtub is a good size, and most adults will be able to comfortably use it.

The bathroom of this travel trailer is quite large, and there is a shower unit in there. There is not a bathtub.

The dining space is square-shaped, and the table can be adjusted. This helps to save space and use the dining area as a living area too. At the back of the trailer, there is a queen bed.

The kitchen space of this RV is super clean and nice. However, for some reason, there is a lot of wasted counter space behind the sink. So, you can only use the countertop for storage really, and not cooking. That’s because the faucet and sink are in the way!

This is a great RV travel trailer to consider for your next adventure!

The interior of this travel trailer is not that comfortable, to be honest. Neither is it really practical. The reason why I have included it on this list though is because of the simplicity. Some people really like the bare minimum stuff when it comes to camping.

So, if you want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life and paddle along lakes, this is a good option for you.

There are plenty of options if you want a travel trailer under $10,000. If you want a more premium or larger travel trailer, you may need to shop in the used market to find an affordable model.

If you are going to be going on short trips, alone or as a couple, then a teardrop trailer would be great. These trailers are small, lightweight, and simple. They are very affordable too.

If you are an infrequent traveler, a trailer with a tent would be good. This is because they are small, lightweight, and easy to store. They are more affordable than other models too.

Here are the campers to avoid for live in full-time.

Alpha Wolf Floor plans are not recommended for full-time living but are great for traveling.

Although the Cherokee Alpha Wolf line offers excellent value for the price, they are spacious, well-finished, and often our recommended floor plans. In this case, we believe they are not the Forest River floor plans we would recommend for families with children who choose to live full-time in a travel trailer. 

Certain features are recommended for full-time living in a travel trailer; an entertainment center in the bunkhouse is essential and gives parents significant advantages in separating activities and privacy. Also, we mentioned earlier how important it is for the booth dinette to provide the right size for the number of people in the RV.

For example, the 2023 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 30RDB-L has two bunk beds in a bunk room. However, no entertainment center is located inside the bunk room. The Alpha Wolf 30DBH-L has the same issue. So, you will need to jump to the floor plan of Alpha Wolf 33BH-L, which includes the entertainment center appreciated when living full-time in a travel trailer with kids. However, in this model, the dinette is short-sized for only four people.

Don’t get me wrong. Alpha Wolf travel trailers are great for vacation. They are a good choice in other circumstances but not recommended for full-time living.

According to owners, Winnebago Travel Trailers are not recommended for full-time living.

It is impossible to prepare anything other than a simple meal because the lack of space is appalling. The absence of slides-out worsens the circulation, and we are lucky to be slim. Otherwise, using the shower or even sharing the circulation in a corridor is complicated.

Riverside Retro 509 Travel Trailer

This retro-inspired trailer is for couples who love a 50s vibes.

Size-wise, it’s an upgrade from the TC Teardrop above. As such, it is a little more pricey. But this means you’ll get a few extra features for your money.

The Riverside Retro 509 travel trailer screams retro.

From your first glance at the exterior, you’ll notice the white paint overcoat.

They finished this off with the classic color panels running through the middle and at the bottom.

It features an aluminum diamond plate at the front, LED lights above the door, as well as windows.

Going inside, you’ll find a queen-sized bed at the front. At the rear end of the bed is a sink, fed by the 17-gallon freshwater tank, plus a two-burner cooktop. To the other side, you have a roomy storage area.

This compact trailer from Forest River is perfect for the weekend getaway with your partner or best buddy.

Although small, it comes with all the essentials. But let’s start on the outside first.

From the exterior, you have two doors, one on each side. These have excellent, shaded windows, so you can scan your surroundings before venturing outside.

Inside, toward the rear of the trailer, there is a pop-up countertop. This humble table serves a purpose as the perfect place to put your gas grill and have a snack.

At the rear end, you have an outdoor kitchen. The trailer’s last exterior wall opens up and inside there’s a sink, microwave, refrigerator, and plenty of counter space.

The open door protects from both the sun and the rain, so you can enjoy whipping up some BBQ food, tailgate style.

Walking to the other side and door number two, you have another pop-up counter, where you can prep your fishing tackle, for example.

Opening up the door, you jump straight onto the queen-sized bed. Overhead, there’s a large storage compartment, and at your feet, you’ll find the entertainment center. Toward the other side, you have another storage area.

This trailer will keep you within your budget, while still providing you with some fun times. All in all, this is a pretty good trailer for the price.

This travel trailer from Gulfstream is closer to our maximum budget than the ones above.

But there’s a reason for that. In this 18-foot trailer, you get bunk beds, a bath, convertible dinette, and a kitchen, all under one roof.

The 16BHC Ameri-Lite trailer is the perfect home away from home for a small family.

As you enter through the door, you see the sizeable convertible dinette. Here you can enjoy a family get-together after a day of exploring, before turning it into a double bed for the night.

Turning around and facing the rear, you will find the kitchen. Now, of course, this isn’t the biggest, but it does provide the essentials you’ll need.

This includes a two-burner cooktop and a sink, plus a roomy countertop for prepping.

Over your head, you will find a cabinet for all your kitchen appliances and to your left, a refrigerator.

Across the kitchen, there is a bunk bed, and it is both adult and child-friendly. There is a window by the top bunk, inviting some daylight into the trailer.

Beside the bunk bed, there is a small toilet and a shower/tub.

Forest River Rockwood 1640ESP

This pop-up trailer from Forest River’s Extreme Sports Edition is probably my favorite on this list.

It brings you close to nature while still providing you with the essentials.

This lovely 12-foot beauty is lightweight and easy to tow. Once you reach your destination, pop out the extensions and you have a sleeping cart for four people.

On the outside, above the hitch, you have an extra storage space once the front extension is up.

Here you can place your coolers, extra propane gas bottles, and anything else that can withstand rain.

Walking back around toward the entry, you’ll find a 9-foot awning that protects the carryout range stove. Here, you can cook away outdoors during the warmer evenings.

On the inside, there are two pop-out beds situated on the extensions.

The bed at the front is a little larger, measuring 54 inches by 78 inches. The area at the rear is 42 inches by 78 inches, but there is still plenty of space.

In the center of the trailer, you have a mini kitchen with a two-burner cooktop and a roomy cabinet. In the front corner, there’s another little countertop with a small sink.

To the side, you have an L-shaped seat around the table, with a pull-out gaucho bed.

There are windows all around the trailer, with curtains on the inside, for privacy.

• Because this is a pop-up, you may have to take extra precautions before you leave, especially if you’re headed for bear country. Make sure you read up on how to stay safe and bear-proof your trailer.

Another great trailer that is, however, pushing our budget a bit. The Clipper 14CR from Coachmen is ideal for your annual getaway with a partner.

This trailer is 16 feet 4 inches with a width of 88 inches, and comes fully equipped.

When walking inside, you see a roomy dinette with booth-like seats. This part of the camper has lots of storage potential.

Under each seat, you have ample space for any extra stuff you’re bringing. Overhead is another storage unit perfect for blankets or pillows, maybe even a fishing rod.

On each side of the dinette are two sizeable windows, providing enough daylight to brighten the area. Walking toward the rear, there’s a large sofa, with yet another overhead compartment.

Since this trailer is under $10,000, you won’t get anything too fancy in the kitchen.

But you do have all the essentials, like a two-burner cooktop and a sink with plenty of countertop space. One of the optional extras here is a microwave.

Over your head, there’s another cabinet for all the kitchen extras.

Toward the rear of the trailer, you have a separate bathroom. There you get a bit of luxury, with a shower/tub.

• There are some flaws you’ll quickly notice, for instance, there is no sink in the bathroom.
• You can pay a bit more and get a microwave installed.

Why You Will Love Buying A Travel Trailer Under $10,000

Travel trailers and RVs have become quite expensive.

In the past, most used to resemble the simple teardrop and contained only the bare essentials.

Nowadays, most are a luxury hotel on four wheels, but these are, of course, very pricey.

When buying a travel trailer under $10,000, you must be ready to compromise a bit in terms of space .

As you can see, most of the campers on this list consist mostly of a bed and a tailgate kitchen.

The extras in this affordable Jayco travel trailer are designed for families or those traveling with guests. Still, this lightweight trailer is easy to tow, and you won’t need a massive truck.

Inside stick-and-tin rear living travel trailers like the 210QBW, having the bathroom between the primary sleeping and living spaces gives you a buffer for additional privacy. 10 Amazing 5th Wheels Under 10,000 Pounds

One of the most spacious and luxurious RV Classes on the road today is the 5th-wheel camper , which often feels more like a home than an RV on the inside.

However, one of the biggest drawbacks of the 5th wheel is its heavy weight, which often requires a ¾-ton or 1-ton truck to tow.

In recent years though RV manufacturers have started producing fifth wheels under 10,000 pounds, and even some that can be towed by heavy-duty ½-ton trucks, such as the Ford F150 or the RAM 1500 .

So to highlight some of the best lightweight 5th wheels currently on the road, we created this list of the 10 best 5th wheels under 10,000 pounds . 

Before we get started though, it’s important that we discuss trailer weight and the different types of 5th wheel weights first, so that everyone is on the same page. 

Understanding 5th Wheel Trailer Weight

When it comes to 5th wheel trailer weight, there are three main weights to be aware of when looking at fifth wheels, including dry weight, hitch weight, and gross vehicle weight rating.

Dry Weight – The dry weight of a 5th wheel is the weight of the camper without any cargo, water, propane, or batteries loaded into the trailer.  Basically, it’s the empty weight of the trailer as it came from the manufacturer.  

Hitch Weight – The hitch weight on a 5th wheel is the amount of weight loaded onto the bed of the truck from the 5th wheel’s hitch.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating – The gross vehicle weight rating for a 5th wheel is the max weight the trailer is rated for by the manufacturer, which includes both the weight of the trailer and the weight of any cargo.

The Weight We Used for this List

When picking RVs for this list, we focused on 5th wheels that had a gross vehicle weight rating of either under or close to 10,000 pounds.  

As the gross vehicle weight rating of a 5th wheel provides a more accurate representation of the true weight of the camper.

Compared to say the dry weight, which only takes into account the weight of the 5th wheel by itself.

As no RVer tows a completely empty fifth wheel behind them when they’re going camping. 

Best 5th Wheels Under 10,000 Pounds (Lightest to Heaviest)

1. palomino puma 253fbs, quick specs.

• Hitch Weight :  1,128 Pounds
• Gross Vehicle Weight Rating :  8,800 Pounds
• Length :  28 Feet 6 Inches

One of the cheapest and lightest 5th wheels you can buy is the Palomino Puma 253FBS, which has an average price of only $36,000 and a dry weight of under 7,000 pounds.

Making this compact 5th wheel considerably cheaper compared to most other lightweight fifth wheels, and more than 500 pounds lighter on average.

And while you do have to sacrifice a bit on interior space and amenities due to the camper’s cheaper price and lighter weight, for those shopping for a lighter 5th wheel on a budget, these sacrifices are usually more than worth it.

Despite this Puma’s cheaper price though, it’s still a well-equipped fifth wheel that offers a lot of convenience features.

Including such features as a fully enclosed underbelly, outdoor speakers, an outdoor shower, stainless steel kitchen appliances, high rise kitchen faucet with a built-in sprayer, and night roller shades.  

Palomino also gave the Puma 253FBS a modern and contemporary interior as well, which helps to provide a high-end feel to the inside, despite its more budget-friendly price tag.

2. Starcraft GSL Light Duty 234RLS

And one of our favorite Starcraft 5th wheel models that’s under 10,000 pounds is the Starcraft GSL Light Duty 234RLS, thanks to its well-laid-out spacious interior.

Featuring a rear living area layout, this camper has a combined living room/kitchen, a large carpetless slide, and the ability to sleep up to four.

The open and spacious floorplan is the first thing you notice though, when you step inside the rear entrance of this 5th wheel.

As there is plenty of room to comfortably move around inside the trailer, which is impressive for a fifth wheel that’s only 27 feet long.

One of our favorite features of this lightweight 5th wheel though is its large well-equipped L-shaped kitchen.

As the 234RLS kitchen offers lots of counter and cabinet space, a 10 cubic foot 12V double-door refrigerator, a pantry, a propane cooktop with an oven, a microwave, and a deep bowl stainless steel sink with a high-rise residential faucet.

Plus, this lightweight 5th wheel also has the lightest hitch weight on this list, at only 1,115 pounds.

Which helps to keep the weight down on the bed of your truck.

Coachmen Chaparral Lite 25RE Floorplan

Despite the camper’s smaller size and lighter weight though, the Chaparral Lite 25RE is a surprisingly well-equipped fifth wheel.

As the 25RE features an open rear living area with a slide-out, theatre seating, a four-person dinette booth, and a built-in entertainment center.

As well as a class-leading oversized L-shaped kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, a large transom window, and an extra deep stainless steel single basin sink with a high-rise faucet.

The features and amenities don’t stop there though on this more affordable 5th wheel from Coachmen.

As the Chaparral Lite 25RE also features a full three-piece dry bath and a spacious private front bedroom with a north-to-south true queen bed and a large wardrobe.
