Successful Girls Trip to Jamaica

From start to finish, Fatema has been a gem. She helped with finding the right flights, the right hotel, and the right prices for our group of 13. We were planning this for roughly 6 months and Fatema was there always. The personalized, friendly, and professional service was unmatched. She even helped on a Sunday to ensure we were able to check in when the airlines were unorganized. I will happily recommend using Gala Travels!

We have been doing business with Gala…

We have been doing business with Gala Travels for over 10 years and over the years we have been dealing with Pam Kapilla. On my most recent trip, I had an unplanned cateract surgery, and had to extend my stay in Mumbai by almost a month. Since my surgery was a week before my return flight to Toronto, Pam made sure that I was well taken care of by Etihad Airways who provided me with a wheel chair and excellent service for the entire trip. Pam also made sure that I got an appropriate seat which would not interfere with my eye drop regimen post surgery, which is quite a nuisance in and of itself. I can remember in the past too, Pam was always available on the phone when we needed her and if she was unavailable, she would make sure that there was someone who could help us. Cheers!

Frequently asked questions

What do i need to know before booking a flight.

There are various factors to consider when booking a flight including cost, fare classes, baggage policies, the complications of flying long haul, and complying with airport regulations. To make your booking journey smoother KAYAK has developed a comprehensive flight guide including insights on finding affordable flights, packing efficiently, and utilizing the best travel tools.

Which month of the year are flight prices lowest?

It’s well established that flights in the low season are generally cheaper than ticket prices during the high season. That means that knowing which month to find the lowest priced plane tickets will depend heavily on seasonality and your destination. While avoiding peak travel times can help you keep costs down, our data shows that the month with the lowest priced plane tickets for domestic flights based on all searches made on KAYAK in the last 12 months was January, while the most expensive was March. If you’re booking an international flight, then January is the cheapest month to fly and June the most expensive.

Can flying international flights with a layover save money on airfare?

For many long-haul international flights, flying non-stop is not possible and you will have to fly with a layover. Some routes will offer both and you could consider flying with a layover for a number of reasons. Firstly, breaking up what would otherwise be a long-haul flight, taking a rest and then completing the journey might make the flight more manageable. Secondly, prices can also be lower than non-stop flights, so while it might take longer for you to reach your destination, you could save money. We’ve looked at prices over the last 12 months for the 100 most popular international destinations for KAYAK users and on average, prices for non-stop flights were cheaper than flights with a layover.

How do I find the best flight deals on KAYAK?

A simple flight search at https://www.kayak.com/flights scans for prices on hundreds of travel sites in seconds. We gather flight deals from across the web and put them in one place. Then on the search results page you can use various filters to compare options for the same flight and easily choose the best flight deal from all of the deals coming straight from the travel sites to your screen, with no extra fee from KAYAK.

Does KAYAK query more flight providers than competitors?

Yes, KAYAK has access to more data and information than online travel agencies and consistently outperforms the competition in accuracy, globally.

What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you flights up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. That way, you can see if leaving a day or two earlier will find you a better deal. You can also select the flexible "weekend" or "month" search options to widen your search range and find the cheapest price that works for you.

What is the cheapest day of the week to book a flight?

The best day to book your flight depends on a number of factors, but there are general trends that you can follow to increase your chances of cheaper plane tickets. Based on an analysis of KAYAK data for all flights departing from inside United States over the last 12 months, the cheapest day to fly for domestic flights is Wednesday. For international flights, Tuesday had the cheapest tickets on average.

When is the best time to buy plane tickets - Last minute or in advance?

Last minute flight deals are definitely up for grabs but when exactly to purchase your plane tickets will depend on where you’re traveling to and from. Based on all data for flight searches made on KAYAK over the last 12 months, prices for domestic flights remained below the average price up to 1 weeks before departure. For international flights, deals could still be had up to 1 weeks prior to the departure date, with prices remaining below average. If you’re flexible, KAYAK brings you both advance and last minute one-way and round-trip flight deals.

How does KAYAK find such low flight prices?

KAYAK processes over 2 billion flight queries annually and displays results from hundreds of airlines and third party sites, allowing it to find a variety of flight prices and options. It also displays results from 2M+ properties along with rental cars, vacation packages, activities and millions of verified reviews so users can see as many available travel options as possible.

How can Hacker Fares save me money?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets on different airlines when it can save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket.

How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a given destination and date is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

Successful Girls Trip to Jamaica

Terminal C is used by low-cost carriers such as Pobeda and Terminal F is used for domestic flights.

When navigating the airport, it is important to pay attention to the signs and announcements as they will guide you to the correct terminal and gate. There are also shuttle buses that connect the terminals, which can be useful if you have a connecting flight in a different terminal.

Use our interactive airport map to locate food, services, and airline departure gates.

Connecting Between Terminals

Moscow Airport has four main terminals: Terminal C, Terminal D, Terminal E, and Terminal F. The terminals are connected by a free shuttle bus service that runs every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day. The shuttle bus stops are located outside each terminal and are clearly marked. The bus ride between terminals takes approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you prefer to walk, there are pedestrian walkways connecting all terminals. The walkways are well-lit and clearly marked, and it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to walk between the terminals. However, if you have a lot of luggage or are in a hurry, taking the shuttle bus is recommended.

However, there are strict restrictions on curbside parking, and vehicles cannot be left unattended. Drivers are advised to use the airport's short-term parking facilities if they need to leave their vehicle for an extended period of time.

These areas allow drivers to wait in their vehicles until their passengers are ready to be picked up, without having to circle the airport or park in a curbside area. It is important to note that vehicles cannot be left unattended in these areas, and drivers must remain in their vehicles at all times.

Overall, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport provides convenient options for picking up and dropping off passengers, while ensuring the safety and efficiency of airport operations.

Flight Status Info

As an air traveler, it's important to stay informed about the status of your flight at all times. At SVO, there are several ways to check your flight status and stay up-to-date on any changes.

One of the easiest ways to check your flight status is by using the in-airport flight displays (FIDS). These displays are located throughout the airport and provide real-time information on flight departures, delays, and gate information. Simply find the display that corresponds to your flight and check the status.

Another convenient way to stay informed is by using your airline's mobile phone app. Many airlines offer apps that allow you to receive alerts about departure delays, cancelations, or gate changes directly to your phone. You can also check your flight status and make changes to your reservation through the app.

In addition to mobile apps, airlines may also send updates via text, email, or push notifications. Make sure to check with your airline to see what options are available to you.

Passengers can check the status of their flight departure at SVO Airport by visiting the flight departures page on ifly.com, which provides real-time updates on flight departures, delays, and gate information.

Helpful Tips

When to arrive.

When traveling through Moscow Airport, it is recommended to arrive at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled departure time. This allows enough time for check-in, security screening, and navigating the airport. The busiest times to avoid are typically during peak travel seasons and holidays, as well as early morning and late evening flights.

Getting to the Airport

SVO is located approximately 29 kilometers northwest of Moscow city center. The best ways to get to the airport include taking a taxi, using public transportation such as the Aeroexpress train or bus, or driving and parking in one of the airport's parking lots. It is important to allow enough time for traffic and potential delays when choosing your mode of transportation.

Getting Oriented

When arriving at SVO Airport, it is recommended to use iFly.com's interactive airport maps to get oriented and navigate the airport. The maps provide detailed information on the airport's terminals, gates, restaurants, shops, and other amenities. Additionally, there are information desks located throughout the airport where you can ask for assistance and directions.

Avoiding Delays

To avoid delays at the airport, it is important to arrive early, have all necessary documents and identification ready, and follow all security protocols. Additionally, it is recommended to check the status of your flight before arriving at the airport and to stay updated on any potential delays or cancellations. You can also download the airport's mobile app for real-time flight information and updates.

Airfare shouldn’t spike again this summer, but don’t expect steep discounts either

Sean Cudahy

After a volatile few years for airfare, prices this summer should be a bit more steady thanks to stabilizing supply and demand, experts say.

In fact, whether you're planning to fly within the U.S. or internationally, you may have better luck finding a good deal than you did a year or two ago.

At the same time, those hoping for smaller crowds at airports and tourist hot spots may be waiting awhile, as all signs point to another busy summer travel season — both at U.S. airports and overseas.

Want more airline-specific news? Sign up for TPG's free biweekly Aviation newsletter .

'Roller coaster' may be subsiding

Domestic airfare has been on something of a roller coaster ever since the start of the coronavirus pandemic more than four years ago.

In 2020 and early 2021, fares dropped as airports emptied out, with travelers staying home. Then, prices surged as demand, fuel costs and overall inflation did the same in 2022. At the same time, demand from travelers exceeded the supply — of flights and seats — airlines could offer.

But if you found yourself booking a trip late last year to North America's most popular leisure destinations like Orlando, Las Vegas or Cancun, Mexico, you may have found a bargain.

gala travel international flights

In fact, airlines added so many flights to those cities and some others — too many, in the eyes of some industry analysts — that competition drove fares down , prompting some carriers (like Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines) to pivot in recent months, shifting planes to other parts of the country in search of higher profits.

Will flights be cheaper this summer?

When it comes to the domestic airfare picture this summer, how does a little stability sound?

"We expect summer 2024 to be similar to last year in terms of demand and pricing," Hayley Berg, lead economist at booking app Hopper, told TPG.

Domestic airfare

Average domestic, round-trip airfare for June currently sits at roughly $303, Hopper noted in its most recent consumer travel index published last week. Average round-trip routes are trending lower for July ($282) and August ($267).

In keeping with recent months' trends, you may be able to score an even cheaper deal if you're headed to Walt Disney World or South Beach in Miami Beach, Florida, or if you're planning to take advantage of Marriott Bonvoy's growing presence along the Las Vegas Strip.

"Current airfare as of this week to Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas and most other top domestic destinations remains lower than at this time last year, and in 2022," Berg said.

gala travel international flights

Don't expect summer 2024 fares to drop significantly, either

At the same time, ultra-cheap fares to Orlando or Las Vegas are of little help if you're planning a trip to, say, Chicago or Seattle.

To that end, when taking the whole country into account, experts don't expect overall fares to drop much more, either — at least not significantly. Again, the expectation is that fares will generally stay fairly consistent from last summer, although that can certainly vary from one destination to another.

Part of that stability comes from airline capacity.

Numerous airlines are growing their flight schedules, but at a much slower pace than they did in the first years after the height of the pandemic.

Collectively, airlines this June, July and August will offer a modest 6% more seats on domestic flights versus last summer, according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium.

For perspective, domestic seats grew about 15% from 2021 to 2023.

gala travel international flights

"We shouldn't expect a significant reduction in [fares] this summer as airlines both manage capacity and also have to work their way through issues of aircraft availability in some cases," said John Grant, analyst at travel data firm OAG.

To his point, some airlines would love to add more flights but can't. Aircraft delivery delays, engine problems and air traffic control shortages could limit more significant growth.

That could prevent the overall supply and demand equation from tilting too much further in customers' favor. After all, consumers benefit when supply (flights and seats, in the case of air travel) solidly exceeds demand.

Also a factor in capping stronger growth: Hundreds of regional jets remain parked amid a still-festering pilot shortage that's continued to limit flights at many of the nation's smallest airports.

Broader trends encouraging for consumers

Still, bigger-picture signs do point in an encouraging direction for consumers with respect to airfare.

Adjusted for inflation, the cost of airfare is as low as it's been in recent memory, Scott Keyes, founder and cheap flight expert at Going.com , pointed out in a post last week on the social platform X.

"By historical standards, we are living in the golden age of cheap flights," Keyes wrote, citing March Federal Reserve data, noting that inflation-adjusted airfare is around 33% cheaper than it was a decade ago.

How expensive will summer 2024 international flights be?

There's also promising news for travelers hoping to plan an overseas trip for this summer.

Round-trip airfare to several of the most popular European destinations has dropped since last year , according to data from FCM and Corporate Traveler, the flagship business travel divisions of Flight Centre Travel Group, shared exclusively with TPG.

The first three months of 2024 featured round-trip price drops of roughly 12% to the United Kingdom and France versus last year. Fares to Spain were also down 9%, while those to Italy were down nearly 4%. Not to mention, there was a 6.5% drop for transpacific flights to Japan.

gala travel international flights

As usual, prices over the summer will surely be more expensive than the lower-demand winter months. However, the overall trends this year point in a positive direction for consumers, Berg said — particularly after a couple of expensive summers for international flying.

"For travelers priced out of Europe in 2023, you may be in luck for a 2024 trip," Berg said. "Prices to Europe are down [roughly] 10% compared to this time last year already."

Collectively, seats to Europe on the "Big Three" U.S. carriers — American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines — this June, July and August will be up roughly 13% from 2019, Cirium data shows — though the vast majority of that growth is aboard two airlines: Delta and, most significantly, United.

Another busy summer expected

Wherever you're flying, all signs point to another busy summer at U.S. airports.

So far in 2024, Transportation Security Administration checkpoints have seen passenger traffic up about 6% from this time last year, according to data analyzed by TPG.

On March 28, the Thursday leading into Easter weekend, the TSA recorded its 10th busiest day of all time. That follows all-time single-day passenger traffic records broken on two occasions last year.

Meanwhile, U.S. Customs and Border Protection received an unprecedented crush of Global Entry applications in February, a top program official told TPG this month — far exceeding the record rate of applications witnessed in 2023.

Airlines have similarly noted the intense desire to travel witnessed since 2022 hasn't waned in 2024.

"Everything we see from a bookings perspective is solid now," American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said at an industry conference in March. "I do think that this is a trend that we will continue to see long into the future."

"Consumer demand is robust and premium trends remain strong," Delta president Glen Hauenstein echoed on the carrier's first-quarter earnings call last week.

Finding the cheapest summer 2024 airfare

gala travel international flights

Here are some things to consider if you're planning to book a flight this summer.

Search using Google Flights, but book directly with the airline

Unless you're in hot pursuit of elite status on a particular airline, using Google Flights to search fares across a broad list of airlines will help you find the cheapest fares. And don't limit yourself: search as many airlines, airports and dates as your schedule and travel preferences allow.

Then, your best bet is typically to go and book the trip directly with your airline of choice.

Tip: Don't forget to check Southwest.

Southwest Airlines itineraries don't populate in Google Flights, so you'll need to check that carrier's website separately.

Though our guide to finding the cheapest airfare gets more specific on how early you should book domestic and international flights, your best bet is, generally, to book as early as possible.

That's especially true if you're booking an international trip.

Tip: Cancel and rebook if you find a better deal.

Remember, the larger carriers' main cabin fares typically allow you to cancel a flight and, at a minimum, retain the difference in airline credit. That means that if you book early and later realize the price dropped, you can often cancel your trip and rebook at the lower price point.

This is also true (even more so, in fact) for award flights booked using airline miles . Most loyalty programs will redeposit your miles and refund taxes and fees if you need to cancel, which can help you get a better redemption if the points price drops after you book.

Travel in shoulder season

If your schedule allows you to travel close to, but not in, the peak summer months, do it.

"For the best deals, plan to travel in May or September when prices will be lowest for bucket list trips," Berg said.

gala travel international flights

Tip: Be ready to plan a fall trip, too.

Last year, we saw numerous airfare deals pop up toward the end of summer, and those prices lasted through the autumn months.

Enroll in Global Entry now (but wait for the kids)

Global Entry application fees are set to jump from $100 to $120 for a five-year membership in October.

gala travel international flights

So, if you're an adult applicant, now is the time to apply before the price increases. Keep in mind that several travel credit cards have historically come with perks that include reimbursing the cardholder's $100 application fee. Citi just announced two of its cards will fully reimburse the higher $120 fee as of October.

One bit of good news is that kids of Global Entry members or applicants can join for free as of Oct. 1. Because of this, it may be best to hold off on enrolling your kids who are younger than 18 until fall.

Tip: Use Mobile Passport Control for non-members.

If you're not a frequent international traveler or are holding off on enrolling kids for Global Entry, CBP has a free time-saving option for non-Global Entry members you'll want to consider.

The Mobile Passport Control app makes it possible to handle a good portion of your customs requirements on your smartphone before deplaning so you can head to a shorter line at passport control.

gala travel international flights

Google reveals top destinations for summer vacation 2024

Paris, Puerto Rico and more made the top 20!

For anyone feeling a sudden urge for summer wanderlust, Google unveiled its top 20 destinations that travelers have already taken an interest in for any upcoming warm weather getaways.

From domestic to international locations, Google shared insights based on past flight booking data and search trends with "Good Morning America" to help people start planning summer vacation spots or shape an ideal itinerary.

Much like snubs and surprises during awards season, there are a couple of places that fell out of favor since last year as well as some new additions that made this year's list.

The search engine technology company said the list reflects people in the U.S. searching on Google Flights for travel anytime between June 1 through August 31, 2024.

Cancun, which previously came in at number one during summer, dropped to number six, while Tokyo is on the rise, with Madrid and San Juan new to the summer location lineup.

1. London 2. Paris 3. Tokyo 4. Rome 5. New York 6. Cancun 7. Orlando 8. Las Vegas 9. Seattle 10. Athens 11. Los Angeles 12. Miami 13. Barcelona 14. Dublin 15. Fort Lauderdale 16. Honolulu 17. Denver 18. Madrid 19. Boston 20. San Juan

The biggest change from 2023, according to Google, is that Cancun moved down from the number two spot to number six, while Tokyo rose from number eight to number three.

Newcomers to the top destinations list include San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Madrid, Spain. Chicago and San Francisco didn't make the top 20 this year.

Travel trends on Google search

Google gathers insights from mid-January to mid-March from U.S. users to find out what travel-related queries are top of mind ahead of summer.

Searches for "travel itinerary" and "solo travel" reached an all-time high in January.

Two of the top trending "weekend getaway" destinations are Palm Springs and Florida Keys.

The top trending "romantic getaway" destinations were Napa, the famed California wine country, and Key West, home to the southernmost point in the Continental U.S. with historic landmarks.

Finally, La Romana and Saint John were the top trending destinations searched with all-inclusive resorts.

Travel could be a good deal this summer. Here's when plane ticket prices will peak.

gala travel international flights

Spring is springing, and according to Hopper, it’s time to start thinking about your summer vacation plans.

New data from the online booking site shows some favorable trends for travelers in the next few months, including slightly lower airfares compared with 2023 and hotel and car rental prices that are more or less flat year-over-year.

Here’s what you need to know as you prepare to book, whether you’re looking for a domestic getaway or go on an overseas adventure. It’s also not too late to take advantage of deals on some last-minute trips.

How much are spring and summer plane tickets?

According to Hopper, the best deals right now are on domestic airline tickets. Round-trip flights within the U.S. are averaging $290 in April, but prices are expected to rise in the months ahead.

Hopper’s data shows prices for domestic flights will peak between May and June at $315 on average, then will gradually fall through the summer, reaching a low of $264 on average in September.

On a call with investors discussing first-quarter earnings Wednesday, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said summer travel demand has been pushed forward in recent years in part because schools, especially in the South, are finishing their summer breaks earlier in the year.

Is airport Wi-Fi safe to use? How to keep your information safe while traveling.

Short vs. long cruises: Which one is right for you? Here's how they compare.

This summer also will be a good time to travel internationally; Hopper data shows fares to most destinations abroad are down compared with last year.

“Airfare to international destinations continues to improve following two years of bloated prices due to quickly recovering demand, high fuel prices and supply constraints. Airfare to most major regions of the world has dropped compared to last year with the exception of trips to Canada,” Hayley Berg, Hopper’s chief economist, said in the report. “International fares remain higher than pre-pandemic levels to most regions, as higher fuel prices persist and airlines continue to rebuild capacity to many regions.”

How much will a hotel room for the spring and summer cost?

Hotel prices remain mostly flat compared with the same time last year. Rooms in the U.S. are averaging $206 a night; better deals are available in some trending international destinations like Osaka, Japan, and Istanbul, Turkey.

According to Hopper, Las Vegas, New York and Chicago remain popular destinations in the U.S.

Will car rental prices rise this summer?

Car rental prices also haven’t increased much since last year and average $42 a day, according to Hopper.

The report shows most travelers rent a car for about four days, and warm-weather destinations like Orlando and Los Angeles remain popular pickup points.

5 terminals & 3 runways: the history of moscow's sheremetyevo airport.

Sheremetyevo International Airport is the largest of Moscow's four airports and is located in Khimki, 29 km northwest of the city center. It has five terminals, four of which were constructed on this side of the 21st century. The main hub for Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, it also serves as a point of connectivity between Europe and Asia. In 2019, 49.4 million passengers boarded through the airport's gates.

Today, Sheremetyevo is a sprawling structure with several distinct terminals, one dating back to the days of the Soviet Union. Terminal F, the oldest terminal still standing, opened for the Summer Olympics in 1980. Meanwhile, the airport serving the megapolis of Moscow began operations as the main airdrome for the Soviet Air Force before being converted to a civilian airport in 1959.

The airport received competition in the early 2000s from the newer Domodedovo International Airport, prompting a flurry of expansion. Today, Sheremetyevo has five terminals and three runways, reigning supreme as the largest and busiest airport in the country.

First commercial flight was with a jet

The first commercial passenger flight arrived at Sheremetyevo with a Tupolev Tu-104 from what was then known as Leningrad on August 11th, 1959. The aircraft carried 100 passengers, 2.5 tons of cargo, 200 kg of mail, and 600 kg of baggage. Sheremetyevo's first international flight took off nearly a year later, operated by an Ilyushin Il-18 to Berlin Schonefeld.

The early expansion

In 1963, Aeroflot began flying from Moscow to Havana non-stop, operating a Tu-114. Sheremetyevo 1, with its distinct 'flying saucer' construction, opened in September 1964 with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. By the end of the 1960s, the airport was serving 1.5 million passengers per year. A new runway was inaugurated in 1977 to increase capacity. The same year foundations were laid for the new terminal complex, Sheremetyevo 2, to be ready by the Moscow Summer Olympics in 1980.

Competition motivation

In the early 2000s, many foreign airlines began moving their operations to Domodedovo International Airport , located to the south of Moscow, at the time offering more modern facilities. Aeroflot pushed for a third terminal at the airport in order to increase capacity. The airport also renovated its second runway to be able to accommodate all types of widebody aircraft, including the Airbus A380.

Today's terminals

Today, Sheremetyevo has five terminals. The oldest is Terminal F, still standing from 1980. Anyone who has traveled through it can attest that it feels a little like stepping back in time. It was the only terminal serving international flights up until Terminal C opened in 2008. Terminal C has since received a makeover. Its first section, C1, reopened in January 2020 and has a panned capacity for 20 million passengers. The second area, C2, is scheduled to open in 2026, adding 10 million in capacity.

Terminal D opened in 2009 and serves as a hub for Aeroflot along with its SkyTeam alliance partner carriers. Terminal B, which in its latest iteration opened in 2018, is the focus for domestic operations. Meanwhile, Terminal A serves business and private aviation. Terminal E, with only eight jet gates. It was opened in 2010 and serves as a connection facility between D and F, as well as houses the railway station connecting the airport to the city center.

Meanwhile, Sheremetyevo opened its third runway only in September 2019. It was inaugurated with an Aeroflot flight from St Petersburg, bringing the story of the airport up until that point to a symbolic full circle.

The customers of the Emirates and flydubai in the UAE have been advised that they may experience road delays.

They have been encouraged by the two companies to plan extra travel time to reach the airport and complete their check"‘in formalities ahead of arrival for added convenience.

“Adverse weather conditions are expected starting today. Be sure to check your latest flight status with your airline, factor in extra time to travel to DXB and use the Dubai Metro where possible,” the airport said in an advisory to passengers.

Dubai carrier flydubai has also issued a weather advisory from The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). A flydubai spokesperson said, “The adverse weather conditions that have been forecasted in the UAE over the next few days may impact our flight schedule at Dubai International (DXB). We are working hard to minimise any disruption to our passengers’ travel schedules and coordinating with all airport parties.”

The airline said it would continue monitoring the weather conditions closely and advised passengers to allow extra time to travel to the airport. Passengers are also advised to check the status of their flight on flydubai.com.

A similar advisory has been published by Emirates.

The U.S. issues new travel guidelines, warning that Iran will avenge the killings of senior commanders.

Several countries including the United States have issued new travel guidelines for Israel and the surrounding region, as the Israeli military said its forces were “highly alert” for a possible Iranian strike in retaliation for the killings of several commanders.

Iran has repeatedly vowed to strike back at Israel over the bombing of an Iranian Embassy complex in Damascus, Syria, this month that killed three generals and four other military officers. An American official said on Friday that Washington expects an attack by Iran against Israel that would be bigger than recent attacks in the long shadow war between the two countries, but not so big that it would draw the United States into war. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The U.S. State Department on Thursday barred its employees from traveling to large parts of Israel, the first time the U.S. government had restricted the movement of its employees in this way since the war in Gaza began more than six months ago.

On Thursday, Britain told its citizens that they “should consider leaving” Israel and the Palestinian territories “if it is safe to do so.” On Friday, India told its citizens “not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice,” while France advised people not to travel to Israel, Iran or Lebanon and evacuated the families of French diplomats from Iran.

Asked about the U.S. travel warning , Matthew Miller, the State Department spokesman, said at a news briefing Thursday: “We have seen Iran making public threats against Israel in the past few days.” He declined to provide details about any specific information that prompted the warning.

The new guidelines bar U.S. government employees and their families from traveling to locations outside the Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beersheba metropolitan areas “out of an abundance of caution” until further notice. The State Department said U.S. personnel could move among those areas for personal travel.

The top American military commander for the Middle East, Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, traveled to Israel to coordinate a response to possible Iranian retaliation, U.S. officials said.

“Our enemies think that they will divide Israel and the United States,” the Israeli defense minister, Yoav Gallant, said in a statement on Friday after meeting with General Kurilla. “They are connecting us and are strengthening the relationship between us.”

If Iran attacks, he added, “we will know how to respond.”

On Thursday, the Israeli military’s chief spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said that the armed forces were “highly alert and prepared” for any action Iran might take, even as the timing and scale of any response remained unclear. Analysts say that Tehran, which has long used a network of proxy forces to project power across the Middle East, wants to avoid igniting a full-fledged war that could drag in the United States and threaten the survival of Iran’s regime.

“For years, and even more so during the war, Iran has been financing, directing and arming its proxies — in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Iraq and Yemen — to attack the state of Israel,” he said. “An attack from Iranian territory would be clear evidence of Iran’s intentions to escalate the Middle East and stop hiding behind the proxies.”

News and Analysis

Within moments of Israel and its allies shooting down a fusillade of Iranian missiles and drones, many began wondering what the exchange would mean for the war in Gaza. Military analysts were divided .

The disappearance and death of an Israeli teenager, whose body was found in the West Bank , spurred deadly rioting by Israeli settlers in Palestinian villages, ratcheting up tensions  even further in the occupied territory.

For months, Western governments have sent weapons to Israel while fending off accusations of abetting war crimes in Gaza. But as an outcry over the civilian death toll mounts, maintaining that balance is becoming increasingly difficult .

Mobilizing the American Left: As the death toll in Gaza climbed, the pro-Palestinian movement grew into a powerful, if disjointed, political force in the United States . Democrats are feeling the pressure.

Riding Rage Over Israel: Jackson Hinkle’s incendiary commentary  has generated over two million new followers on X since October — a surge that some researchers say is aided by inauthentic accounts by the online celebrity.

Psychedelics and Trauma: Thousands of festival-goers were using mind-altering substances when Hamas-led fighters attacked on Oct 7. Now, scientists are studying the effects of such drugs at a moment of trauma .

Turmoil at J Street: The war in Gaza has raised serious concerns within the Jewish political advocacy group about its ability to hold a middle position  without being pulled apart by forces on the right and the left.
