Celebrity Series of Boston Announces Max Raabe & Palast Orchester Performance Added on Tuesday, March 19 at Symphony Hall

(For Immediate Release, Boston—November 1, 2023) Celebrity Series of Boston announces Max Raabe & Palast Orchester, “Dream a Little Dream,” has been added to the 2023-24 performance season on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 8pm at Symphony Hall.

Dream a little dream with Max Raabe & Palast Orchester as they bring the sophistication and glamour of Weimar-era Berlin to Symphony Hall, with a cool, contemporary twist. Swing and cabaret big band classics from Germany’s Roaring Twenties meet Broadway and Tin Pan Alley standards by Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.

Huffington Post raves, “Max Raabe doesn't really take the audience back to the 1930s by recreating what others have done: it's more like he's a time traveler who has come from that time to entertain us in the here and now. And it works.”

Tickets start at $39. Individual ticket sales for this event begin January 3 for members, and January 9 at 12pm for the general public.

About Max Raabe & Palast Orchester The Palast Orchester was founded in 1986 by Max Raabe and a group of fellow music students yearning to play music from the period of Germany´s Golden Twenties. Since then, they have advanced to the number one band for the 20s / 30s style. Next to their regular tours through German speaking countries they often perform in the USA where the list of venues includes Chicago Symphony Hall, Davies Hall in San Francisco and New York´s Carnegie Hall.

In 1992 Max Raabe & Palast Orchester for the first time found themselves in the German charts with their song “Kein Schwein ruft mich an” (meaning “not a pig calls me”), written by Max Raabe. Teaming up with film director Sönke Wortmann two years later for the film “Der bewegte Mann” (The Most Desired Man) made them known to a wider audience.

Max Raabe & Palast Orchester celebrated their 10th anniversary playing to 20,000 fans in the sold out open air arena Waldbühne in Berlin.

Concert tours abroad were soon to follow, the number of which clearly increased after the year 2000. At this time Max Raabe & Palast Orchester received an ECHO award for their CD “Charming Weill” and also scored well in international charts with two albums on which they interpreted modern pop songs like “Sex Bomb”, “Kiss” or “Super Trouper” in the style of the 20s. In Werner Herzog´s film “Invincible” (2000) Max Raabe & Palast Orchester fit perfectly into the setting of 1930s Berlin.

In 2010 a concert tour to Israel attracted much attention. A filmed documentation was shown at Jewish Film Festivals all over the world, such as Berlin, Australia, Jerusalem and New York.

Since 2010 Max Raabe & Palast Orchester have been influencing the German pop scene with “Raabe Pop” - songs written by Max Raabe in collaboration with top German songwriters. For their live concerts, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester weave these together with original numbers from the 20s/30s into an entertaining show that is selling out venues all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The same concept turned their MTV Unplugged production from 2019 into a number one album.

2023 turned into the band´s best year. Max Raabe wrote “Ein Tag wie Gold” (A Day Like Gold), a hit for the TV series Babylon Berlin in which he and the orchestra also feature. This and two new albums - one of “Raabe-Pop”, another with original songs of the 20s/30s - have led Max Raabe & Palast Orchester to selling out concerts back-to-back.

Many songs have found their way into the “Dream A Little Dream” USA tour 2024, ready to capture listeners and let them dream away everyday worries.

Biografie - max raabe & palast orchester.

Dezember 1962 in Lünen.

Max Raabe & Palast Orchester live erleben

2024 March Madness TV schedule: How to watch NCAA Tournament championship, announcers, times, live stream

The complete television and streaming schedule for how to watch march madness 2024.

usatsi-20244677-1.jpg

Two teams are all that's left in the 2024 NCAA Tournament as we have almost reached the game that will decide the national champion in men's college basketball. After starting with 68 teams just 13 days ago on Selection Sunday, only No. 1 seeds Purdue and UConn, the reigning national champion, with three games left until a champion is determined.

Though the top eight teams in the nation entering the Big Dance were all still alive entering the Sweet 16 for just the fifth time since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, only two of them remain. On Saturday, No. 1 seed UConn ran through No. 3 seed Illinois on its way to a 77-52 victory, while No. 1 seed Purdue won a hard-fought battle 72-66 over No. 2 seed Tennessee on Sunday.

Joining them in the Final Four is No. 4 seed Alabama, which won 89-82 over football rivalry No. 6 seed Clemson, and No. 11 seed NC State -- the Cinderella of this affair -- after a 76-64 come-from-behind win over ACC rival No. 4 seed Duke.

Veteran Ian Eagle steps in as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Final Four, replacing the legendary Jim Nantz, who stepped away in 2023. Eagle will lead mainstays Bill Raftery, Grant Hill and reporter Tracy Wolfson on the top announcing team.

For the entire 2024 NCAA Tournament, CBS and TBS are leading the way primarily televising 21 games apiece, while truTV and TNT carried 13 and 12, respectively. The Final Four will simulcast across TBS and TNT. You can also watch the final three games of the NCAA Tournament on the  March Madness Live app  and on Max's B/R Sports Add-On.

From the Selection Show all the way until the playing of "One Shining Moment" after a champion is crowned, CBS Sports and TNT Sports will be bringing you the magic.

Let's take a look at the 2024 March Madness announcing teams as well as the remaining schedule for the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

max rabe tour 2023

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

2024 Texas Open fantasy golf rankings, picks, strategy: Back Billy Horschel, fade Max Homa

W ith Augusta looming, nine of the top 20 players in the world will be in the field for the 2024 Valero Texas Open this week as they look to fine-tune their games beginning on Thursday. However, just as compelling are the players who haven't earned a Masters invitation that need a win to earn a trip to Augusta. Corey Conners was a Monday qualifier before earning a win that got him into the Masters in 2019 and he earned a second Texas Open victory last season.

Conners is comfortably into the field at Augusta this year but he'll still be eager to defend his title at TPC San Antonio this week and will be an undoubtedly popular option for Fantasy golf lineups of all kinds. Conners is listed at 22-1 in the 2024 Texas Open odds while Rory McIlroy is the 9-1 favorite as he looks to get his game into form before making his 10th attempt at a career grand slam next week. Before making any 2024 Valero Texas Open fantasy golf picks, you have to see the Valero Texas Open fantasy golf rankings from SportsLine handicapper Eric Cohen .

Cohen is an avid golf bettor who correctly predicted the pre-tournament outright winner of the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic (Rickie Fowler +1400), 2023 PGA Championship (Brooks Koepka +2000), 2023 Honda Classic (Chris Kirk +3500), 2022 Open Championship (Cameron Smith +2200), 2022 U.S. Open (Matt Fitzpatrick +2500) and 2022 Phoenix Open (Scottie Scheffler's first career victory at +2800).

Cohen is a contributor to SportsLine's YouTube shows including "Early Edge" and is the host of "The Early Wedge" golf show. Anyone who has followed Cohen's predictions has made positive gains on their golf picks.

Now, Cohen has ranked his top golfers for the 2024 Valero Texas Open.  Cohen's picks are only available at SportsLine .

2024 Texas Open expert picks

One player Cohen is getting behind for his fantasy picks is Billy Horschel. The seven-time PGA Tour winner and former FedEx Cup champion is coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, missing the playoffs entirely and managing only three top-20 finishes for the year. However, he's already registered four this season in just eight events, including top-12 finishes in three of his last four starts.

Horschel ranks 71st in the FedEx Cup standings but his play has been worthy of better results, as he ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained (1.351). He's 14th in strokes gained: putting (0.631) and he's been sensational on the green historically at TPC San Antonio, gaining 24 strokes against the field on the putting surface in four career top-11 finishes in the Valero Texas Open. He isn't exempt into the 2024 Masters field and one of the sport's most feisty players is a clear threat to win this weekend given the stakes.

On the other hand, the golf expert is fading Max Homa, despite his status as one of the favorites entering the week. After peaking at No. 5 in the world last year, Homa has slipped to 10th in the OWGR and he's a disappointing 39th in the 2024 FedEx Cup standings. The six-time PGA Tour winner has historically struggled in major championships, missing the cut in nine of his 17 starts at those events. Expect him to be more focused on prepping for Augusta than pulling out a result here.

"Homa may still be ranked 10th in the World Rankings, but he sure hasn't played like it in 2024. In seven events, he has registered only one top-10 finish (T8 at the API) and has struggled with his driver and irons," Cohen said. "Homa hasn't played this event since 2019, so I'll ignore the course history. There are certainly better options this week."  See all of Cohen's Valero Texas Open picks at SportsLine .

How to set 2024 Valero Texas Open Fantasy golf lineups

For this week, Cohen is backing several underdogs in his 2024 Valero Texas Open fantasy golf picks, including a triple-digit longshot who has "has turned the putter around lately to be better than the field average" that can help spice up your Fantasy golf lineups.  See who it is, and get all of Cohen's fantasy golf picks, at SportsLine .

Who wins Valero Texas Open 2024, and who are the top players to target for your PGA fantasy golf picks?  Visit SportsLine now to get Eric Cohen's fantasy golf rankings , all from the fantasy expert who has called six outright winners since 2022, and find out.
