In 1974 – 50+ years ago,  Niko Hazdovac, after a career as a merchant marine officer, started Adriatic Travel in hopes of fulfilling his dream of owning his own travel agency. With his wife, Luci, taking a major role in the agency, together they built, what is now a family-run, world-renowned travel company.

My mother and grandmother started our travel agency in 1985 and even when I was in high school I would come in and work.  The travel bug bit me when my mom won a trip to Hong Kong and our family went there in 1991. From that point, I knew I really wanted to not only travel but help others experience travel adventures that will transform their lives!  I have enjoyed travels to most of most to Europe, Turkey, Greece, Mexico, Caribbean, much of the US including Alaska & Hawaii, and Canada ... I have 4 daughters who are now great travel companions and have experienced so much by traveling this wonderful World of ours.  I am constantly updating my training and am a certified expert for many cruises, such as Viking, AMA, Princess, Crystal, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and more .  I specialize in customized luxury and exotic travel.  While traveling to the airport - I received a notice from the airline saying my flight was delayed. I was going to miss my connection, so I called Travel Masters and they switched my flight to connect through a different city.   I got to my final destination with no problems . Reviewer Nickname: Jeff Set up an all day trip of a lifetime. My nephew flew in from Chicago and had never seen the Grand Canyon. Sally set up a trip where we flew from Deer Valley Airport to the South Rim of the Canyon. From there we were flown down through the Canyon and to a helipad at the Colorado River. We when took a pontoon boat done the River and floated back to the pier. A helicopter picked us up flew back through the Canyon and back up to the ridge. Grabbed a short bus ride to the Sky Walk and had a great photo session.. Grab another short bus ride to our lunch location, checked out old mine whose’s cable ran across the Canyon and explored old Native American housing while watching Native American dance. Back to the bus for a short ride to the set of an old Western Town. Finally back to the Grand Canyon Airport where we reboarded our airplane and were flown back to Deer Valley Airport and given photos of our original departure. We were treated like royalty never standing in massive lines. We’ll remember this for our life’s. Kudos to Travel Masters ( Sally ) for an unbelievable day. Jeff & nephew Paul

A famous quote once said "The world is a book, and those that do not travel only read one page."  We all have places that we would like to visit.  I'm lucky to have visited over 20 countries, yet there are many places I'd still love to visit.  Are there places you've thought of visiting, but put it off or thought it would be too much trouble to work out the details? Although I am a newer travel advisor, I've been in the travel industry since the early 2000's.  As a former flight attendant for a major airline, I was able to travel to three different continents.  My international travels for work took me mostly to Europe and South America, with many places in between.  On my days off, I planned many trips.  One of those was a train trip from Munich to Vienna, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of that trip.  The alps and river valley scenery was fantastic, and I'd love to return.

 If you need help planning a vacation, need some recommendations, or know what you want and just need to book it- please contact me.  I'm friendly, caring and have good ideas!  My specialties are: cruises, all-inclusive resorts, and guided travel. Although those three are my specialties, I have a broad knowledge of world travel and am knowledgeable about the Americas (from Canada to South America, including the Caribbean,) and most of Europe.  I've been on many cruises with different cruise lines, have been to several all-inclusive resorts and have done research on most of the resorts that I haven't been to.  Recently I've completed all of the training for guided tours in Europe with three major suppliers.  I also stayed in Ireland for six weeks for training with another airline for a special project.  Hawaii and Alaska are two states that I've become a specialist in, as well.

You know you're in a family business when the family dog wants to play fetch with you. Such is the case with Adria Travel , which was founded in 1959 and moved to its current location in Bloor West Village in 1971.

As she pets Riley, the resident Yorkshire terrier, owner Gloria Cavlovic recalls how her mother catered to her fellow Croatian immigrants. "We brought families over to Canada, and then their relatives came over, and then the next generation went back to Croatia to see family or go on vacation. That's how the business has thrived."

Adria 's Croatian connections also account for its name, which riffs off the Adriatic Sea that laps up against the country's idyllic Mediterranean shoreline. Toronto's Croatian community, which is centred on the surrounding neighbourhood, still makes up much of its business. "We speak the language and know the country extremely well, so when people come here, they feel at home," Gloria says.
