Our co-headline ‘Worlds Collide’ European Tour will still happen this year: our arena tour together with Evanescence that was originally due to kick off in March 2020, will now move to November and December 2022.

As the world has finally reopened and tours and festivals have been happening all around the globe again, both us and Evanescence are very optimistic about the tour finally happening. Evanescence and Within Temptation confirm rescheduled Worlds Collide tour dates

Yes! Evanescence and Within Temptation’s long-awaited Worlds Collide co-headline tour will still be happening in 2022.

Having announced last week that they've had to postpone their upcoming co-headline tour, Evanescence and Within Temptation have now confirmed their rescheduled dates – and, happily, they'll still be happening this year!

"As the world is slowly reopening again, we have been feeling optimistic about the tour actually taking place in March and April," reads a joint statement from the band. "However, a lot of countries still have restrictions in place, and we are forced to make a decision right now for logistical reasons. We are aware that many fans are preparing to make their plans to attend the shows, some of which involve travel, and given the uncertainty as to exactly when certain countries will lift their restrictions, we are left with no choice but to reschedule the tour, hopefully for the final time."

After being rescheduled repeatedly due to the effects of the Covid pandemic, the long-awaited co-headline tour from two truly iconic rock bands finally kicks off next month. With almost every show close to selling out, and only limited tickets and VIP packages remaining, the UK & European tour from  Evanescence  and  Within Temptation  is proving to be one of the hottest tickets in rock this year.

Anticipation is mounting for their incredible live shows after a summer of blockbuster performances.

Both bands have sold millions of records worldwide and have been at the forefront of the music scene for more than two decades. Fronted by two of the most celebrated voices in rock music – Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) – both bands have headlined arenas and festivals around the globe in their own right.

Within Temptation released their most recent single ‘Don’t Pray For Me’ in July accompanied by a stunning  video .

They have spent the summer touring Europe and are currently supporting Iron Maiden across the USA. They have also joined forces recently with Maiden, bringing their own character ‘Genesis’ into the band’s world-beating  Legacy of The Beast  computer game. Evanescence meanwhile have been touring the US on a co-headline run with Korn, appearing at some of the major festivals including Louder Than Life where Amy Lee made a surprise guest appearance with Tenacious D, and seeing their breakout single ‘Bring Me To Life’ re-enter the US iTunes charts at No.1. They have also just announced a US tour with Muse for March 2023.

And now, on the  Worlds Collide Tour , Evanescence and Within Temptation finally come together in spectacular fashion to bring their incredible live shows to fans across Europe.

Within Temptation and Evanescence are happy to announce that the anticipated co-headline ‘Worlds Collide’ European tour will still happen this year.  The European arena tour that was originally due to kick off in March 2022 will now move to November and December 2022. The show at The O2 has been rescheduled to Monday 14th November 2022. All existing tickets remain valid for the new date.

It's not the first time that the joint 'Worlds Collide' tour has been postponed

Evanescence and Within Temptation have been forced to reschedule their upcoming UK and European tour once again.

The two bands had initially been due to head out on the ‘Worlds Collide’ tour back in 2020, but the tour has been postponed a number of times since due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The long-awaited gigs were then set to finally kick off next month, but Evanescence and Within Temptation have announced today (February 16) that the shows will now take place in November and December.

“As the world is slowly reopening again, we have been feeling optimistic about the tour actually taking place in March and April. However – a lot of countries still have restrictions in place, and we are forced to make a decision right now for logistical reasons,” the bands said in a joint statement.

Ahead of WITHIN TEMPTATION 's upcoming tour, fans can prepare for the spectacle by reliving the adrenaline-pumping excitement of 2022's "Worlds Collide" run from the comfort of their homes, as the band's remarkable show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on November 29, 2022, will be available on vinyl, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and in a special 64-page hardcover artbook on June 21, 2024.

During the "Worlds Collide" tour, WITHIN TEMPTATION played two sold-out shows in their home country at Ziggo Dome. They were their first-ever headlining shows in Ziggo Dome and a total of 30,000 fans were there to witness the occasion. These shows were captured for posterity and now everyone around the world has the chance to immerse themselves in one of the most iconic performances the band has ever done in their home country.

Few collaborations in WITHIN TEMPTATION 's career have ignited as much anticipation as their co-headlining tour with EVANESCENCE did, especially having being postponed four times due to COVID.

As soon as the world reopened in 2022, the "Worlds Collide" tour finally took place. Over the course of over four weeks, the tour traversed 17 cities across Europe, delivering a total of 19 performances.

For this tour, WITHIN TEMPTATION and EVANESCENCE saw an amazing amount of over 200,000 tickets sold, 7703 kilometers traveled, eight tour buses serving as mobile homes for the artists and crew, twelve trailers loaded with the gear to fuel the spectacle, and a dedicated team of over 80 experienced individuals whose tireless efforts ensured that every aspect of the tour ran seamlessly.

Last month, WITHIN TEMPTATION released the official music video for their newest single, "A Fool's Parade" , featuring Ukrainian producer and vocalist Alex Yarmak . All royalties from the new single will be donated to Music Saves UA for the duration of the Russia-Ukraine war.

According to a press release from WITHIN TEMPTATION 's publicist, "A Fool's Parade" "showcases the band's commitment to raising awareness of Ukraine's ongoing battle against Russia's invasion. The song itself serves as a condemnation of Russia's deceitful actions and sheds light on the harsh realities faced by Ukraine. WITHIN TEMPTATION remains steadfast in their support for Ukraine, with involvement in initiatives such as the Ukraine Aid OPS foundation, advocating for more much-needed solidarity."

Recorded amidst the streets of Kyiv with renowned Ukrainian video director Indy Hait , the music video for "A Fool's Parade" captures WITHIN TEMPTATION frontwoman Sharon Den Adel at important Ukrainian landmarks.

Released last October, WITHIN TEMPTATION 's latest album, "Bleed Out" , signifies a bold leap forward for the band. It is expected that Evanescence will take to the stage first in Leeds but timings and running order are subject to change.

Within Temptation and Evanescence are happy to announce that the anticipated co-headline ‘Worlds Collide’ European tour will still happen this year.  The European arena tour that was originally due to kick off in March 2022, will now move to November and December 2022. All existing tickets & VIP packages will remain valid for the rescheduled dates and all venues remain the same.

Both bands stated earlier: “ As the world is slowly reopening again, we have been feeling optimistic about the tour actually taking place in March and April. However - a lot of countries still have restrictions in place, and we are forced to make a decision right now for logistical reasons.”

“We are aware that many fans are preparing to make their plans to attend the shows, some of which involve travel, and given the uncertainty as to exactly when certain countries will lift their restrictions, we are left with no choice but to reschedule the tour, hopefully for the final time . ”

All existing tickets & VIP packages will remain valid for the rescheduled dates and all venues remain the same.

Live Review: Evanescence / Within Temptation – 14th November 2022 – O2 Arena, London, UK

It was Battle of the Goth Rock Titans at London’s O2 arena on Monday night as two heavyweights of the genre finally made it to the capital to play a co-headlining tour titled, When Worlds Collide. And long overdue it was as Amy Lee, frontwoman of US band Evanescence drew attention to as she announced “this show has been 3 years in the making” following a meaty co-headlining set from Dutch symphonic metalheads, Within Temptation.

The show started at an exceptionally early 7.45pm with a haunting intro of Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker setting the mood for the night as it blared throughout the venue, allowing fans to find their seats while a futuristic-inspired stage, complete with a giant deconstructing head peering out to a crowd of enthusiastic fans was put in place and welcomed Within Temptation as the first of the two mammoth rock acts of the night.

Dressed in a gorgeously fitted metallic corset that sat atop a flowing black gown, frontwoman Sharon den Adel commanded the stage; driving almost effortlessly through 15 of the bands tracks; a mixture of career notables and newbies from the outfits most recent album, 2019’s Resist . From that record, the band performed some of their slots more memorable numbers including The Reckoning , Supernova and Raise Your Banner which was dedicated to the citizens of Ukraine and saw Den Adel stomping the stage with a massive Ukrainian flag; showing the bands support of the war torn country.

Career highlights including Ice Queen and Stand My Ground provided a nostalgic vein into the bands set and had the die-hard fans of the act saluting the singer with fist pumps as she drove through the hits with vigour and conviction while Shed My Skin offered one of the sets most catchy additions – contrasting to the previous, operatic Angels which saw the band members playing energetically to the overhead screens that showed the music video of the track.

Despite Den Adel confessing to having a cold on the night and asking for forgiveness from the crowd for “not getting every note perfect”, the singer was a force to be reckoned with as she swung between full-throttle headbangers and power ballads; including a stellar performance of All I Need where the star sat within a steel ring in a flowing red ensemble as she was raised several feet in the air. She may have not been in the finest form health-wise, but she powered through like a rock superstar, nonetheless.

Ending their set at just after 9.30pm, it was time for an interval of 30 minutes which allowed fans to stretch their legs or take a seat within the packed standing area of the venue, and top up on drinks ahead of the closing headlining set.

Once one of the world’s biggest bands, it’s been a while since Amy Lee-led Evanescence have played on British soil. However, fan eagerness to see the outfit has not withered, and neither has Lee’s absolutely phenomenal vocals that tore through many of the band’s classic as they delivered a mind-blowing, goose-bump inducing set of earth-moving rock gems.

It’s closing in on twenty years since the Fallen debut of the act who have endured a lot of inner band turmoil in the years since the album’s release which saw over 17 million units shift around the globe and several hits being birthed including Going Under and Bring Me To Life .

It was the first time for us seeing Evanescence and to say we were blown away would be quite the understatement. I don’t think we were prepared for the sheer talent of the pint-sized Lee who owned the massive O2 stage; dressed in black – a figure-hugging top and a shredded skirt – the superstars journey as frontwoman of the turbulent male-dominated rock band has not been the easiest, but her performance – as both an entertainer and powerhouse vocalist – was easily one of the best we have witnessed in many, many years.

Heartache flowed in her voice during a touching performance of Far From Heaven . A tribute to her late brother, Lee cast a sentimental spell over the packed venue as she delivered a mesmerising performance of the song sat at a piano that rose from the floor at the front of the stage while her appreciation of her audience and the night shone in comments regularly made by the singer. “We’ve been dreaming of this night for years” she would confess ahead of an offering of Made of Stone from the outfits 2011’s self-titled release.

With new songs from the band’s The Bitter Truth album (released last year and over a decade since the collectives last) taking up the majority of set list real estate, the crowd seemed equally as happy to take in new tracks like Wasted On You , with its 60’s prom night qualities, as they were with the signature hits.

Each tracks clean-cut guitar work and perfectly executed instrumentation from her fellow band members helped transform many of the nights tracks like new number, Take Cover and the politically and socially charged Use My Voice into stadium juggernauts, but it was the bands early hits that really stole the night. Going Under found an early nesting place in the set and reminded us of the lasting power of the act and the phenomenon that was the bands 2003 Fallen release. As bassist Emma Anzai provided the chorus backing vocal, Lee ripped through the track with an energetic power and precision unheard of in the rock world in many years, while gentle numbers My Immortal and Call Me When You’re Sober showed off Lee and her bands ability to swing so effortlessly between grinding rock numbers and sombre balladry while Lee garnished the crowd with appreciation and messages of empowerment and being true to yourself.

Closing the night with the expected Bring Me To Life , the track that made Evanescence a household name for several since following its release almost two decades ago, we exited the capitals super-venue with not just a newfound respect for Evanescence, but a newfound respect and appreciation for the goth rock genre – a genre that these two goliaths have mastered. While the show was a few years in the making and while we may only see a release from Evanescence every decade or so, lets hope we don’t have to wait as long to see these acts visit the UK again to deliver another phenomenal night of the finest in symphonic goth-rock.

Lasers, flames and giant robot heads: Evanescence and Within Temptation team up to deliver one of this year's most spectacular metal shows

When Evanescence and Within Temptation first rose to prominence in the early 2000s, it was an unfortunate inevitability that people would try to play the bands off against each other. Never mind that one arose from the down-tuned realms of nu metal and gothic rock and the other symphonic metal ; the fact both bands shared a female vocalist was enough to drum up a perceived rivalry between the groups.

Thankfully, this nonsense was never enough to hold them back and a rotating headline slot ensures there's no sense of inflated ego as Evanescence and Within Temptation take their grandiose vision across Europe and the UK. And what a vision it is; a bustling arena greets Evanescence for the first of the night's two headline sets and from the opening notes of Broken Pieces Shine it is readily apparent just how stunning a production the Americans have brought along for the ride. 

With a pyramid-like backdrop and more illuminations than a fireworks display in a fairy light showroom, Evanescence are immediately striking. But as ever, even with guitars buzzing and crunching amidst a sea of coloured lights, it's vocalist Amy Lee that remains the band's most potent and captivating force, her titanic pipes towering over just about everything else on-stage. 

Shedding the orchestral format of 2018's Synthesis has clearly given Evanescence a sense of bite and urgency that beefs up the heavier aspects of their music; material from last year's The Bitter Truth in particular feels especially hefty, tree-trunk riffs and deep-set grooves throwing back to the band's earliest days while Use My Voice feels so colossal it is already well on the way to being a classic. 

The beauty of this set is in its dichotomy however, the heavy numbers being off-set by grandiose piano ballads that inject a sense of vulnerability and intimacy into the arena setting that makes the show feel especially powerful. Lee is captivating the entire time; whether on her knees headbanging or belting out a ballad at the grand piano, she brings a gravitas that puts her firmly in the spotlight. 

"If there's one thing I've learned in this difficult time, it's to appreciate the moment we're in," Lee offers to a screaming crowd. It's a lovely sentiment, but a little lost on the sea of phones that continuously appear to film massive hits Going Under, Call Me When You're Sober, My Immortal and career-making closing number Bring Me To Life . Even with Ev's truer vision of the song cutting out rapper Paul McCoy's sections, the echoes of his verses still shine through as the crowd sings along, proving that sometimes nostalgia trumps all. 

Maybe it's the gigantic face in the middle of the stage or maybe it's the Churchill speech that introduces them, but there's something decidedly Iron Maiden -like in Within Temptation 's latest stage production. Not that it matters, of course - the comparison is entirely complimentary considering just how much has gone into the stagecraft for their arena run, a sense of theatricality matched only by the enormity of the band's sound when things kick off. 

Opener Our Solemn Hour showcases WT at their operatic best, Sharon Den Adel 's angelic pipes underpinning the sheer grandiosity of everything on-stage. Interestingly, where Evanescence have picked up more classical elements across their career, WT seem to pass them going the opposite direction in live arrangements. 

By nature, the relegation of classical elements to backing tapes means the band has a more prominent and powerful feel in the mix, the jets of flame underpinning a driving intensity and enthusiasm in the band's performance. That doesn't mean the symphonic elements are dispensed with entirely however; Paradise (What About Us) soars on strings and synths, Tarja Turunen's face beamed onto a big screen above the stage as a firm reminder that Within Temptation are symphonic metal royalty and helped shape the genre as we know it today. 

The set pieces throughout the show help cement a sense of theatricality that really flourishes in an arena setting; Sharon singing Angels from atop the gigantic head feels truly Wagnerian, a heavy metal opera with stunning visuals to match as the screens cast flaming wings against her silhouette. 

When she's not cast as an angelic-voiced Valkyrie, Sharon can be found dashing across the stage, whipping the crowd up. To say she's playing to thousands of people, Sharon treats the crowd like it's an evening in a local bar, frequently chatting and checking in on the audience. Entertain You is aborted partway into the intro when she spots a fan in distress, arranging security to attend to the stricken party and get them to safety. This ends up happening a couple of times during the set, but she takes it in grace, quipping "I don't know what you're drinking, or if you skipped dinner, but you need to look after yourselves!"

It's that easy manner and good humour that makes Within Temptation so eminently likeable, their set balancing incredible spectacle and community spirit. Raise Your Banner is dedicated to Ukraine while Sharon laments on recent developments in Poland, Sharon waving a massive Ukrainian flag to once again drive home those Iron Maiden similarities. 

By the time Sharon is lifted into the heavens on a huge hoop swing, there is no denying the sheer spectacle that Within Temptation have achieved on this latest tour, bringing along a production to match their grandiose vision. Closing numbers Ice Queen and Mother Earth end things on an incredible high, a final blitzkrieg of flames, lasers and kaleidoscopic spotlights highlighting that Within Temptation became symphonic metal royalty for a reason, and are still growing bigger, grander and more spectacular with each passing year, even 25 years on from their debut.

After being rescheduled repeatedly due to the effects of the Covid pandemic, the long-awaited co-headline tour from two truly iconic rock bands finally kicks off next month.

With almost every show close to selling out, and only limited tickets and VIP packages remaining, the UK & European tour from Evanescence and Within Temptation is proving to be one of the hottest tickets in rock this year. Anticipation is mounting for their incredible live shows after a summer of blockbuster performances. Both bands having sold millions of records worldwide and have been at the forefront of the music scene for more than two decades. Fronted by two of the most celebrated voices in rock music – Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) – both bands have headlined arenas and festivals around the globe in their own right.  Within Temptation released their most-recent single ‘ Don’t Pray For Me ’ in July accompanied by a stunning video . They have spent the summer touring Europe and are currently supporting Iron Maiden across the USA.  Then also joined forces recently with Maiden , bringing their own character ‘ Genesis ‘ into the band’s world-beating Legacy of The Beast computer game.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
