All about the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas
The Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas was built in 2015. It's considered a large size ship. Coming in at 1,141 ft long and 136 ft wide, it's roughly the length of 3.2 football fields, as wide as 2.6 tractor trailers, and the same height as a 14-story building.

Anthem of the Seas Size and Passengers
The Anthem of the Seas can hold 4,180 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Anthem of the Seas has a space ratio of 40. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship's space-to-person ratio is about average.
The Anthem of the Seas is one of three Quantum-class ships currently sailing with Royal Caribbean. Quantum-class ships feature several notable features like the North Star viewing platform, the Seaplex with bumper cars, and iFly skydiving on board. They're also known for their beautiful fully-enclosed glass solariums at the front of the ship. The Anthem of the Seas is very similar to its sister-ships; Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, although each ship may have some differences.
Anthem of the Seas Food and Restaurants
Food is a big part of any cruise, and there will plenty on the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas. You have 16 different dining options to choose from. Of those options, 7 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 9 options have an additional fee. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. Only 44% of the dining options are included meaning you might spend more while on the ship due to the additional fees.
Anthem of the Seas Bars and Drinks
Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas has 10 different bars and lounges where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail.
Alcohol is not included in the base price of this cruise ship. To see if you would save money with a drink package, try our Drink Package Calculator.
Royal Caribbean also serves the Coca-cola family of products. That means Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Barqs Root Beer, although the selection can vary by ship. Most Royal Caribbean ships also have Coke Freestyle machines where you can make 100 different flavor combinations.
Pools and Hot Tubs on Anthem of the Seas
Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.
The Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas has a total of 3 pools and 6 hot tubs.
Tired of loud kids and splashing? 1 of the pools and 2 of the hot tubs are adults only.

Anthem of the Seas Features and Activities
There are quite a few things to do on the Anthem of the Seas. These are the main amenities that are available. Some are included in the cost of the cruise, while others have an additional charge.
Royal Caribbean is a mainstream cruise line. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.
Cruise pricing is dynamic and varies for each specific sailing based on factors such as departure point, ports of call, and time of year.
Anthem of the Seas Onboard Costs
Another way to gauge the cost of a cruise is to consider how much you'll spend on board. Even though a lot is included in the base cruise fare, you may still spend money on things like spa treatments, specialty dining, drinks, and excursions. In addition, guests can also have to pay for things like gratuities and tips.
Typically guests can expect to spend about 25 - 40% of the cost of the cruise on onboard expenses. In other words, if the cruise fare is $1,000 per person, you might spend between $250 and $400 on extra expenses.
The table below will help you understand what you might spend onboard a Royal Caribbean ship.
Royal Caribbean uses dynamic pricing, which means the pricing for many things will vary per sailing. The daily gratuities and tip are consistent across the fleet, but the pricing for the drink package, internet, and excursions will change. The only way to know your price is to consult the Royal Caribbean cruise planner once you're booked.

Anthem of the Seas Cruise Ship Profile
Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean launched the Anthem of the Seas, the second ship in its popular Quantum class, in March 2015. The new ship spent her first summer in Europe before crossing the Atlantic to her new year-round homeport of Bayonne, New Jersey, just across the river from New York City. The Anthem of the Seas sails to the Bahamas and the Caribbean in the winter, spring, and late fall; Bermuda in the summer; and New England and Atlantic Canada in the early fall.
The Anthem of the Seas is much like her older sister the Quantum of the Seas . The cruise ship makes effective use of digital technology. Royal Caribbean has upgraded its Internet speed, and now the company claims to have the fastest Internet at sea--even fast enough to watch movies or videos. Guests use a RFID wristband to open their cabin doors and make onboard purchases. They also can download RoyaliQ , an app that allows them to use their phone or tablet to book dining or entertainment reservations and cruise activities.

- Staterooms -- 2,090 (Balcony: 1,571, Outside: 148, Family-Connected:16, Wheelchair Accessible:34, Interior with Virtual Balcony: 375)
- The Anthem of the Seas is more than three times the size of the International Space Station and eleven times bigger than a blue whale.
The 2,090 cabins and suites on the Anthem of the Seas range in size, price, and amenities. There are dozens of categories. As noted on the page above, all of the accommodations have either a balcony, ocean view, or interior with a virtual view of the outdoors. The 375 interior cabins have a large video screen that looks like a balcony on one of the walls. This screen picks up the feed from an outdoor camera so that guests are seeing the same thing those in a balcony cabin would. Nice way to check the weather or the scenery! The screen can be turned off, so guests don't have to worry about the sun waking them.
Those looking for more space or luxury will enjoy one of the many different types of suites on the Anthem of the Seas. The Royal Loft Suite is the largest, but even some of the smaller suites like the Grand Suite are quite nice.
Many cruisers like a balcony and the cabin seen in the photo above is a Superior Ocean View, which is spacious, has plenty of storage, and a large bathroom.
Royal Caribbean introduced Dynamic Dining on the Quantum of the Seas and has continued this program on the Anthem of the Seas with a few important differences.
Guests choose either Dynamic Dining Choice or Dynamic Dining Classic for their dinner when they plan their cruise. No matter where they dine , they can enjoy menus that change every few days and very diverse cuisines.
Dynamic Dining Choice
With Dynamic Dining Choice, guests can dine whenever and wherever they wish each evening. They can book a reservation at one of the four complimentary Dynamic Dining restaurants, each of which seats 430-434 guests; book a reservation at one of the five specialty restaurants (surcharge), or dine at one of the eight casual restaurants without a reservation. Guests staying in suites can also dine at the Casual Kitchen.
Reservations are made either before the cruise, on their tablet or mobile phone by using the Royal Caribbean app or using one of the tablets onboard. A large percentage of guests book their dining reservations online before they cruise.
Dynamic Dining Classic
Dynamic Dining Classic is more like the traditional dining room option. Guests who choose this option will have dinner at the same time each evening and dine with the same guests. They also will have the same wait staff. However, they will rotate amongst the four Dynamic Dining restaurants—Chic, The Grande, Silk and American Icon. The wait staff and their dining companions move with them. If they wish, they can still book a reservation at one of the specialty restaurants. Dynamic Dining Classic is available on a first come, first serve basis.
Interior Common Areas
The interiors of the Anthem of the Seas are laid out much like her sister ship the Quantum of the Seas. The design is contemporary and elegant. This is one gorgeous ship, and many guests may never go ashore since it offers many of the same activities you might find in a resort.
The amount of interior space under cover is impressive. Near the top of the cruise ship is the massive SeaPlex sports complex that features bumper cars, roller skating, basketball, circus training, and huge dance parties with a DJ. The Solarium offers great views from the forward section of the ship, and the indoor pool can be used in all sorts of weather.
Moving down into the common space lower in the ship is the Royal Espanade which serves as a hub for many of the bars, retail shops, and dining venues. The Royal Theater and Two70 cabaret are both large entertainment venues with shows like Spectra's Cabaret or Broadway musicals like "We Will Rock You", and the Casino and Music Hall occupy much of the public space on deck 3.
Of course, the Anthem of the Seas has many indoor bars and lounges, some with names familiar to Royal Caribbean loyalists. The Bionic Bar is fun and unique, with its robo-bartenders.
Outdoor Decks and Exteriors
The indoor public areas are impressive, and the outdoor decks of the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship are filled with things to do. Some of these activities like the iconic North Star or the RipCord by iFly skydiving experience are unique to the Quantum class ships. Other activities like the Flowrider surfing experience or rock climbing, are popular on other Royal Caribbean ships. Of course, there's an outdoor pool and plenty of room to sunbathe.
Although the Anthem of the Seas has many traditional aspects that past cruisers will love, this cruise ship also has many aimed at a younger adult cruise traveler—like the use of digital technology, Dynamic Dining, excellent WiFi, and some of the shows, activities, and entertainment. However, the ship is also geared towards family fun, so travelers of all ages should find something to love about the Anthem of the Seas.
