Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam. Meet and greet by the tour representative and transfer to your hotel. Check-in at the hotel and freshen up. In the evening, visit the Kamakhya Temple, a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. Enjoy a leisurely evening along the Brahmaputra River. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Arrival in Guwahati (Assam)

Your Assam Meghalaya trip with Tour My India will start from the Guwahati Airport/station (whichever of your choice) in Assam which would be your onward destination.
As you will land at the airport, our representative will be waiting there to greet you with a warm welcome.
From the airport, our representative will take you to a pre-booked hotel in Assam to recover from jet lag.
After getting freshened up and some rest, you will be taken on a pilgrimage tour to Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple and Balaji Temple.
For dinner and overnight stay, you will be transferred back to the hotel.

Guwahati to Shillong (Meghalaya) via Umiam Lake

In the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Followed by this, check-out of the hotel and be ready to commence a 99 km drive to the beautiful hill station of Shillong in Meghalaya. The entire drive would take around 3-4 hours to complete.
En route, the gorgeous lake of Umiam, also known as Barapani. Barapani is the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya. Whereas, Umiam is known for its picturesque surrounding which includes Sylvan Hills.
Upon arrival in Shillong, you will be accommodated in a pre-booked hotel in Shillong.
For the rest of the day, you will be free for your leisure activity. You can either choose to explore the nearby region on your own or you can just opt to stay inside your hotel room to relax and unwind.
Dinner and overnight stay will be provided at the hotel.

Shillong to Cherrapunji

In the morning, you will be served with a delectable breakfast.
After having breakfast, be ready to commence an excursion to the second wettest place on earth - Cherrapunji. The drive from Shillong to Cherrapunji takes around 2-3 hours to complete.
En route, visit the gorgeous Seven Sister Falls, Mawsmai Cave and Thangkharang Park.
After done sightseeing tour of Cherrapunji, head back to Shillong.

Shillong to Mawlynnong to Dawki to Shillong

Day 4 of this entire expedition will be a bit busy and productive. The day will start with a nutritious morning meal.
Followed by this, you will be taken to the cleanest village in Asia - Mawlynnong through a 78 km road drive. In the East Khasi Hills, Mawlynnong is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the region and is a popular ecotourism destination in Meghalaya.
The next stopover of the day will be Dawki. In the West Jaintia Hills, Dawki is a hidden treasure of Meghalaya which is known for its sublime beauty; the clean and beautiful Umngot River being a significant part of it.
Once done exploring the town of Dawki, you will be taken back to Shillong.

Arguably one of the most beautiful and fascinating regions of India, Assam shares borders by Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the north; Nagaland and Manipur to the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh to the south; and West Bengal to the west. Assam has two out of India’s five UNESCO environmental World Heritage sites, the Kaziranga National Park on the bank of the Brahmaputra River, and the Manas Wildlife Sanctuary, near the border with Bhutan.

Day 01 Arrival into Guwahati - Drive to Kaziranga National Park (220kms /5hrs)

Arrive into Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, also known as Guwahati Airport (GAU).
Collect your baggage from the designated carousel.
Kaziranga National Park sprawls along the floodplains on both sides of the Brahmaputra River. A UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, Kaziranga is home to two-thirds of the world’s population of endangered one-horned rhinoceros, a tiger reserve with the highest density of tigers in the world and a paradise of bird lovers.
Spread over Golaghat, Nagaon and Sonitpur district of Assam, Kaziranga National Park (KNP) is the largest protected area in the State with an area of 858.98 sq km. The park features four different kinds of vegetation – the tropical moist mixed deciduous forests, tropical semi-evergreen forests of the tall grasses, open jungle, and short grasses.
Arrive and Check-into Resort between 14:00-15:00hrs, a standard check-in time.
Get acclimatized in the free time.
Dinner will be on your own.

Day 02 Kaziranga National Park

Mihimukh in Central Range at Kohora | Bagori in Western Range at Bagori | Agaratoli in Eastern Range at Agaratoli | Ghorakati in Burapahar Range at Ghorakhati
Move through the lowlands of the park, enjoying clear, uninterrupted views of the sprawling landscape. Apart from the world’s endangered One-horned Rhino, other species found in the park are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants and if you are lucky, the elusive tiger.
Kaziranga National Park is also a bird watcher’s paradise and home to some 500 species of birds. The Bengal Florican,Crested Serpent Eagle, Greyheaded Fishing Eagle, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Palla’s Fishing Eagle, Storks, Swamp Partridge, Pelicans and Herons are some of the species found here.
Return to Hotel for breakfast.
Afternoon proceed for a Jeep Safari Tour (02:00 PM to 04:00 PM). The vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests undoubtedly makes the park look beautiful but it is the presence of Brahmaputra river, which makes the Kaziranga National Park look enigmatic.
Return and Stay overnight in Resort.

*Kaziranga National Park remain closed from 01 May till 31 Oct every year for the visitors.

Day 03 Kaziranga National park - Majuli - Jorhat

Have breakfast at Resort.

Majuli is the world’s largest inhabited mid-river deltaic islands located in the upper reaches of the river Brahmaputra. Majuli was created as a result of periodical natural changes in the course of the river Brahmaputra caused by frequent major earthquakes at different times as well as high floods.
Majuli is the nerve-center of the Neo-Vaishnavite religion, art and culture.
The prime attractions of the island are the Sattras, the colorful tribal cultures, the sunrise, the sunset, ferry rides, and the migratory and indigenous birds.
On arrival at Majuli, visit Sattra, a religious and cultural institution, which is concerned with the dissemination of the principles and devotional practices of Neo-Vaishnavism. The prime focus of the Sattra is to enlighten individuals through spiritual and religious practices. The principles of Neo- Vaishnavism are disseminated to the common man through devotional music, songs, and dance forms. There are 31 Sattras in Majuli recognized by the Majuli Cultural Landscape Region Act, 2006.
Visiting Chamaguri Satra is worth not only to witness the survival of a centuries-old art but also to try your hands in learning the tricks of the art of mask making. Masks are usually made of God’s and Goddesses or of the mythological figures. The masks are made using clay, bamboo, and wood. The masks are used in the raas-leela of Raa Mahotsav and in Assamese Bhaona (traditional religious theatre)
The potters in Salmora area d o not use pottery wheel but are hand-made pottery —they use their fingers and palms to shape the clay into different earthen pots and idols. Close to 300 families of artisans are engaged in this historical art and they earn their livelihood by making the pottery.
Later Cruise down to Nimatighat and drive to Jorhat (13kms / 30min).
Arrive into Jorhat, Check in to Hotel.
Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04 Jorhat – Guwahati (306 kms / 7 hrs.)

Have breakfast at Hotel.
Check out Hotel.
Drive to Jorhat – the last capital of the Ahom Kingdom and home to many historical monuments of Assamese culture. Jorhat is considered “The Cultural Capital of Assam”.
Arrive into Pre-booked hotel. Check-in.
The Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Cultural Complex is set up to serve as a centre of activities in the field of dance, drama, music, fine-arts, literature, etc. with a view to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the people of Assam in respect of all its beauty and splendor.
Named after the great unifier of Assam and one of the greatest integrator of the Indian society of the Fifteenth century, Srimanta Sankaradeva, the Kalakshetra Society attempts to capture and convey the essence of the great seer’s spirit, who preached the message of unity in diversity and the universal brotherhood of man.
Return to Hotel and stay overnight.

Day 05 Guwahati Local Sightseeing

Have Breakfast at Hotel.
The Kamakhya Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya, one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pitha’s, Situated on the Nilachal Hill at 562ft high in the western part of Guwahati city in Assam. The temple encompasses ten Mahavidyas and carries high importance.
The Kamakhya Temple is where Sati’s womb and vagina fell. Kamakhya Devi is well known as the bleeding Goddess as it is said that there is actually not an idol representing Kamakhya here, only a Yoni or the vagina of the Goddess that is worshipped.
During the occasion of Navratri (September-October), a three-day festival attracts thousands of pilgrims. This festival is known as Ambuvaci (Assamese word, ‘ambubachi), which is unique with its own significance. For the duration of this fertility festival, the Goddess is said to undergo her menstrual period. At this point in time, the temple is closed for three days and before closing, white sheets are draped inside the temple. When the temple is opened after three days, the sheets are found red in color. On the fourth day, great festivity is observed. The red sheets are torn into pieces and distributed amongst the devotees.
Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji temple – The temple was built by Sri Jayendra Saraswati, Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Tamil Nadu in 1994.,

Assam State Museum (The Museum is open to the public from 10 A.M to 5 P.M on all days except Monday, Govt. holidays, 2nd and 4th Saturday of a month.),
State Zoo cum Botanical Garden (Natural vista with landscaped gardens, large enclosures and perennial water bodies.),

Sukreswar Temple (The 6th Jyotirlinga of Shiva).

Itinerary (Day Wise)

Guwahati (1 night).

Tour Guests will arrive at Guwahati Airport as per their Scheduled flight. Upon arrival at Guwahati – Capital city of Assam, Veena World Tour Manager will meet all tour guests. Today enjoy a ride in the longest river ropeway over the Brahmaputra. Get a panoramic view of Umananda Temple, Peacock Island, the Brahmaputra River and the surrounding hills. Later we sail over the River Cruise in Brahmaputra.

Guwahati – Kaziranga (2 Nights)

Today we visit the Kamakhya Temple – one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the country. Later we proceed to Kaziranga. En-route we visit Nag Temple – a Temple dedicated to snake god and Agnigarh – the site of a fortress, which as per the Hindu mythology, was built by Banasura to keep his daughter Usha in isolation. On arrival at Kaziranga, we have some free time for relaxing.

Today we experience a thrilling jeep safari at Kaziranga National Park for wildlife viewing. We will come face to face with one horned rhino’s, elephants, deer’s and rare migratory birds. Later we visit Orchid Park – an orchid house with over 600 species from Northeast India, bamboo and medicinal herb gardens, a cactus house and a handicrafts museum. In the evening we enjoy the spectacular Bihu dance – an indigenous folk dance of Assam.

Bomdila —Tawang (2 Nights)

Today we visit Bomdila Monastery – a beautiful monastery amidst nature. Later we proceed to Tawang, enroute we visit Sela Pass and Sela Lake which gives some delightful views of eastern Himalayan ranges, followed by a visit to Jaswant Garh Indo Chinese War Memorial – a memorial in honour of late Jaswant Singh Rawat and Kiwi garden. Note: Kiwi Garden is operational in Apr, May & Nov. Therefore, guests booking for that period can enjoy the Kiwi Garden. Also note: Tawang is situated at a high altitude, which may pose challenges for guests with certain health conditions. Today early morning we proceed to Bum la Pass – Situated at the Indo-China border, 15,200 ft. above the sea level. (Please Note: We visit Bum la Pass if we get permission from the Indian army. Also only if the roads are operational). Later we proceed to visit Peng Teng Tso Lake and Shungatser or Madhuri Lake – which became popular due to its appearance in the Bollywood movie Koyla. It is also known as Madhuri Lake as it is named after the lead actress in the movie. In the evening we visit we visit Tawang War Memorial - built in memory of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Sino-Indian war and enjoy the Sound and Light Show. Note: Foreigners and NRI's are restricted to visit Bum la Pass, Peng Teng Tso Lake and Shungatser Lake. Also note: Tawang is situated at a high altitude, which may pose challenges for guests with certain health conditions. Today we visit Tawang Monastery – the 2nd largest monastery in Asia. Later we proceed to Bomdila. Enroute we visit Nuranang waterfall at Jang – one of the most spectacular waterfall which offers a pristine and beautiful experience.

Shillong – Mawlynnong – Shillong

Today we explore Mawlynnong village which has been awarded as the ‘Cleanest Village in Asia’. We visit the Balancing Rock and the Living Root Bridge – Centuries old bridges grown from tangled roots. Later we proceed to see the crystal clear waters of Dawki river and enjoy boating on the river. Dawki lies at the border of India and Bangladesh and is famous for a suspension bridge over Umngot River (commonly known as Dawki bridge) constructed by British in 1932. We also visit India - Bangladesh border at Tamabil. In the evening, we have free time for relaxing and exploring the surroundings.

Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong

Today we visit Cathedral of Mary, Elephant Falls and Ram Krishna Mission. Later we proceed to Cherrapunjee – officially known as Sohra. It is the wettest place on earth. We also visit Mawsmai Caves, Seven Sisters Falls, and Nohkalikai fall – the tallest plunge waterfall in India. In the evening, we have free time to enjoy shopping in local market.

Shillong – Guwahati – Departure

It’s time now to say goodbye to our travel companions. Let’s stay in touch with each other through email, phone, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and meet again on yet another memorable tour. See you all!! Tour Guests will proceed to Guwahati airport as per their schedule flight and start their return journey back home. Tour Concludes. Please Note: Given the current dynamic situation some monuments or sightseeing places may be closed temporarily without any prior notice; in such cases every attempt will be made to visit an alternate sightseeing if possible. For transfers and sightseeing we will use small cars / Tempo Travellers / Mini or big coaches depending on the respective tour group size. In case of small cars there will be 5-6 guests in one car. As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.

You will be picked up from Shillong hotel in the morning and then transferred to Mawlynlong. Of special note is that the village is named as the cleanest village in Asia. Here, pay a visit to Jingmaham Living Root Bridge. Walk around the charming Mawlynong Village. Next, proceed for a visit to Dawki. The small border town in the Jaintia Hills is known for the picturesque Umngot River, which is a must visit site in Meghalaya. Enjoy the scenic beauty. Experience a boat ride in the crystal clear waters where you can feel like floating in the air as the water is so clear (Boat charges pay at your own). Return back to the hotel and overnight at hotel in Shillong.

Drive Shilong to Kaziranga (330 Kms)

You will be picked up from Shillong hotel and then transferred to Kaziranga. Check-in at hotel and relax amidst the iconic tea gardens and lush landscape of Assam. Overnight stay hotel in Kaziranga

Drive Kaziranga to Guwahati (275 Kms)

Early morning go for Elephant ride (Subject to allotment from forest department and on direct payment basis). You will be picked up from Kaziranga hotel and then transfer to Guwahati. Overnight stay at hotel in Guwahati.

Guwahati Railway Station / Guwahati Airport Departure

In the morning, time permitting you can visit the famous Kamakhya Devi Temple. Return back to the hotel. Later, you will be picked up from your Hotel and transferred to Airport / Railway Station for your onward / return journey back home.
