Don Henley makes unusual dedication at Eagles 'Hotel California' show in Newark: review

Three-minute read.

the eagles tour 2023 baltimore

America, how about a song dedication from the Eagles?

Don Henley delivered Friday, April 7 to close the band's “Hotel California 2023 Tour” show at the Prudential Center in Newark when he dedicated “Best of My Love” to the U.S.

“This is a song from 1974 that I had the privilege of writing with Deacon's dad (Glenn Frey) and our buddy J.D. Souther,” Henley said. “It's a song about a breakup of a couple, originally, but tonight I want to dedicate this song to America and all of its insanity and all its glory. Sing it with me, OK? Let's do something with unity.”

The packed crowd swayed and sang along to the mid-tempo country rock classic. Yes, the lyrics do seem to fit the current state of the country.

“You see it your way, I see it mine, but we both see it slippin' away,” Henley, 75, sang.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Henley had said no politics earlier in the show, but there is an underlying disquietness in the Eagles songs that often suggests a frustration with the societal status quo. Nowhere is this more apparent than on the song “Hotel California,” a musical treatise on 1970s America dissipation as viewed from the hazy West Coast. The band performed the album, leading off with “Hotel California,” in its entirety in the first part of the show.

A mysterious Captain (programmed to receive?) began things by putting the 1976 classic album on a record player and dropping the needle. The band struck up “Hotel California's” rich harmonies and sunset sparkle guitar leads. Vince Gill, a noted musician in his own right, took the late Frey's vocal leads on “New Kid in Town.” He evoked the original, but found his own space, too.

Concert review: Legendary original Misfits returning to the Prudential Center for rare concert

Music at the Shore: 'Baby It's You' screening takes place in Asbury Park. Here's the Springsteen connection

The band — including guitarist Joe Walsh and bassist Timothy B. Schmit — was complemented by touring musicians, an orchestra — which Henley called the Northeast Corridor Orchestra — and the Rutgers University Kirkpatrick Choir. Touring guitarist Steuart Smith was a focal point on multiple leads and solos.

An extensive greatest hits set followed the “Hotel California” performance. Deacon Frey come on sing two of his dad's classics, “Take It Easy” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” He looks and sounds like his father Glenn, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 67. An image of the late Frey was shown on the concert screens after Deacon's performance.

Walsh received audience call outs during the night and it's no wonder. He's a graduate of Montclair High School Class of 1965. He performed “Rocky Mountain Way,” solo hits “Life's Been Good” and “In the City,” as well as his James Gang classic “Funk #49.”

“I'm glad to be back here,” Walsh said. “You know what I miss? I miss when people say, 'Get out of here!'“

No one in the baby boomer crowd told him to get out. Henley, who alternated between drums and guitar, also performed a solo hit, 1984's “Boys of Summer.”

The Eagles “Hotel California” concerts began in 2019 in Las Vegas. The tour has one more scheduled stop, Saturday, April 8 at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.

“It's good to be here,” Henley said. “At this stage in the game it's good to be anywhere. … Fifty-one years is a long time in this business, and just in case we don’t pass this way again I want to thank you all on behalf of the band, on behalf of the crew and everyone up here for sticking with us through thick and thin. We appreciate you very much.”

Baltimore tripleheader: Orioles home opener; Bruce Springsteen, Eagles band at CFG Bank Arena

If you’re a local baseball fan — or just a fan of classic rock — it’s a great weekend to visit Baltimore, Maryland.

Not only does Friday mark the home opener at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, it also marks the launch of the newly renovated CFG Bank Arena with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performing on Friday and the Eagles band on Saturday.

  • More Maryland News
  • More Baltimore News

“Baseball has doubleheaders; I’m offering you a tripleheader: You have the Orioles, Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles all in one weekend,” CFG Bank Arena General Manager Frank Remesch told WTOP. “If you’re going to do it, go big or go home. Between Bruce and the Eagles, can you get any better of a weekend? Are you kidding me?”

His personal favorite Springsteen song is “Glory Days,” but he says it’s impossible to pick a favorite Eagles tune.

“I have friends that I hang out with, we’re very eclectic from country to rock ‘n roll, from Megadeath to John Denver, and the one group that everyone agrees upon is the Eagles,” Remesch said. “You forget how many No. 1 songs that they’ve had until you just sit back and listen, so this one-two punch is a bucket list for me.”

It should be a bucket list for everybody. The Boss ranks No. 12 all-time on the RIAA’s list of artists with the most albums sold , while the Eagles rank as high as No. 4, behind only The Beatles, Garth Brooks and Elvis Presley. All of those legends have played the venue since it first opened as the Baltimore Civic Center back in 1962.

“Elvis has played here, Led Zeppelin has played here, The Beatles have played here and Garth Brooks has played here,” Remesch said. “That’s what’s great about doing what they did and keeping the history of this building. I can still go back and say, ‘The Beatles walked right where that stage was, Martin Luther King gave a speech on that stage,’ and then I have a new building on top of it, so somewhere in these hallowed halls are those souls.”

The venue has had numerous names from Baltimore Arena to 1st Mariner Arena to Royal Farms Arena before sitting empty during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a Guns N’ Roses concert in fall 2021, it hosted the CIAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments before being bought by the Oak View Group for 11 months of renovations.

“This isn’t lipstick on a pig, this was a 100% evisceration of the inside of the building, nothing was left but the pillars,” Remesch said. “It’s absolutely beautiful, the amenities are first-rate, it looks like a brand-new building on the inside, the bars, bathrooms, hallways, suites — we only had two suites before, now we have 38 — and the acoustics were totally overhauled. … The worst seat in my house is pretty much the suite level in other buildings.”

The exterior of the building also got a makeover with two outdoor terraces on the third and fourth floors holding 160 and 140 people each. These aren’t some exclusive VIP experience; they’re open to anyone with a general admission ticket, featuring a bar window to order your favorite beverage as you sip outside with city views.

CIAA Basketball

“The outside is going to be gorgeous,” Remesch said. “We’re doing a brand new marquee and lighting system that basically covers two sides of the building that’s all electronic, you’ve got to see it at night, nothing like it, totally modern. Then we did a total green space outside, as much as you can in the city surrounded by four streets.”

The spring and summer lineup also features:

  • Adam Sandler on April 21
  • New Edition on April 22
  • Lizzo on May 9
  • Janet Jackson on May 13
  • Anita Baker on May 14
  • Blink-182 on May 26
  • Bryan Adams on June 6
  • Chris Stapleton on July 15
  • Thomas Rhett on July 21
  • Lionel Richie with Earth, Wind & Fire on Aug. 19
  • Queen with Adam Lambert on Oct. 4
  • John Mayer on Oct. 20
  • KISS farewell tour on Nov. 29

“Pre-COVID, I was probably doing about 105 shows a year, 20 to 25 concerts and maybe one or two A-listers; now I’ll do 130 a year, 60 concerts and 40 A-listers — that shows you the difference,” Remesch said. “We (previously) drew about 560,000 (people per year); we’ll be over a million now. You can extrapolate those numbers out about what it does for the local economy. … Just like the MCI Center did for Chinatown, you’ll see that here too.”

The Eagles Announce “The Long Goodbye” The Band’s Final Tour

Tickets On Sale Friday, July 14 at 10:00 Local Time

High-res photos HERE

LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye”  will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan,  will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.  In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.  Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum.  After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe, keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals, and setbacks of many kinds,” said the band in a statement. “Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long-run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

Still in its planning stages, according to the band, with more dates possibly added on at a later date, the 12-date tour will feature Steely Dan .

The final tour, featuring the Eagles’ Don Henley , Joe Walsh , and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, is currently scheduled to start on Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and go through several major cities within the U.S. before wrapping up on Nov. 14 in Lexington, Kentucky.

“We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round,” said the Eagles. “So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.” The band continued, “We hope to see as many of you as we can before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

Who is Currently Performing with The Eagles? An In-Depth Guide to the Legendary Band’s Current Lineup

Who is Currently Performing with The Eagles

The Eagles are undeniably one of the most iconic and best-selling bands in rock n‘ roll history. Since forming in Los Angeles in 1971, the band has crafted an extensive catalogue of timeless hits and created a legacy that cemented their status as musical legends. While the Eagles disbanded in 1980, they reunited in 1994 for the wildly successful Hell Freezes Over tour and have been actively touring and recording ever since.

However, in recent years the band suffered the tragic loss of two integral founding members – guitarist Glenn Frey passed away in 2016 and guitarist Bernie Leadon passed in 2021. Despite this, the surviving original members and talented new additions are determined to keep the Eagles‘ spirit alive by continuing to perform their catalog of classics to appreciative audiences around the world.

Let‘s take an in-depth look at the stellar cast of musicians currently flying the Eagles banner and keeping their musical legacy soaring.

Founding Members Still Anchor the Band

Founding Members Still Anchor the Band

The two remaining original continuous members providing a strong foundation in the current Eagles lineup are drummer and vocalist Don Henley and guitarist and vocalist Joe Walsh .

Henley, along with Glenn Frey, founded the band back in 1971 and for many fans is the distinctive voice that defines the Eagles sound. In addition to his immaculate drumming, Henley sang lead on hits like “One of These Nights”, “The Long Run” and “The Boys of Summer”. Walsh first joined the band in 1975 in time for their career-defining Hotel California album. His fierce guitar playing is all over Eagles classics like “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Pretty Maids All in a Row”.

Both Henley and Walsh also cultivated massively successful solo careers over the years in addition to their contributions as Eagles. However, they remain dedicated to the band that made them global superstars. According to Ultimate Classic Rock critic Dave Lifton, Henley and Walsh provide “both the musical foundation and institutional knowledge that helps the rest of this lineup excel.”

Vince Gill Adds New Dimensions to the Band

Vince Gill Adds New Dimensions to the Band

After Glenn Frey‘s tragic and unexpected passing in 2016, the band recruited acclaimed country musician Vince Gill to come in and try to fill the large void left by one of their primary vocalists and songwriters. While certainly a daunting task, Gill has excelled beyond expectations by bringing his own flair and style to the band‘s catalogue of hits.

In addition to being a highly skilled guitarist with his own distinctive tone, Gill is known for his pure, smooth tenor voice that melds perfectly with harmonic-rich Eagles songs. His country music pedigree combined with rock sensibilities have added exciting new facets to the band.

According to Don Henley, Gill has been “a perfect fit musically and personally” and his addition to the band has reinvigorated their live performances. Fans who were initially skeptical have fully embraced Gill‘s energy and vocal talents.

Deacon Frey Joins to Honor His Father

Deacon Frey Joins to Honor His Father

In 2017, Glenn Frey‘s son Deacon Frey also officially joined the Eagles lineup for live shows. Deacon had previously toured with the band alongside his father and was determined to help continue his dad‘s musical legacy. Still in his 20s, Deacon contributes his talents on vocals, guitar, piano, and mandolin during concerts and has been enthusiastically welcomed into the Eagles family.

According to Don Henley, “Deacon‘s energy and passion for this music is inspiring. The band loves him, and so do the fans.” Having Deacon join to take over his father‘s vocals adds even more emotion and heart to the band‘s performances. Deacon has more than lived up to his father‘s legacy, helping the Eagles soar to new heights.

Timothy B. Schmit Anchors Them on Bass since the 70s

Timothy B. Schmit Anchors

While not an original founding member, bassist and vocalist Timothy B. Schmit has been with the band since 1979 after replacing original bassist Randy Meisner. Schmit‘s crystal clear tenor voice and high harmonies have become a staple of the Eagles‘ trademark sound.

Schmit sang lead vocals on hit singles like “I Can‘t Tell You Why” and has been providing the steady rhythmic foundation on bass throughout the band‘s live concerts and studio recordings for over 40 years now. His musical chemistry with Henley, Walsh, Gill, and Deacon Frey is seamless and helps recreate that classic Eagles magic fans have loved for decades.

Key Stats on the Legendary Eagles:

  • 6 Grammy Awards Won
  • 150+ million albums sold worldwide
  • 5 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart
  • 240+ weeks total on the Billboard 200 album charts
  • $250+ million in concert grosses since reuniting in 1994
  • Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998

Hotel California 2022 Tour Electrifies Audiences

The current incarnation of the Eagles has been thrilling audiences on their Hotel California 2022 tour across North America. Their concerts see the band perform their entire iconic 1976 album Hotel California from start to finish before treating fans to a long set filled with other classics from their unparalleled catalog.

Reviews of the new lineup have been glowing, with critics and fans raving about the fresh energy and outstanding musicianship Gill and Deacon Frey have brought to the legendary band.

Here‘s a look at what each member brings to the table musically when the Eagles take the stage in 2022:

  • Don Henley – Lead vocals, drums, percussion
  • Joe Walsh – Lead guitar, rhythm guitar, keyboards, vocals
  • Vince Gill – Guitar, mandolin, vocals
  • Deacon Frey – Guitar, piano, vocals
  • Timothy B. Schmit – Bass guitar, vocals

It‘s evident that – even with the passing of key original members Glenn Frey and Bernie Leadon – the Eagles‘ spirit and top-notch musicianship continues to thrive thanks to this stellar current lineup. The band sounds as tight as ever and their shows consistently garner rave reviews.

Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill all possess tremendous individual talent while also demonstrating an ensemble cohesion that allows them to soar through the Eagles catalog with ease. Their passion and commitment to honoring the Eagles‘ musical legacy is apparent through ever note they play.

For long-time fans or newcomers just discovering their music, the current Eagles lineup delivers a live concert experience that reminds the world why they are one of the most beloved and enduring American rock bands of all time.

Philadelphia Eagles 2024 schedule: Debut in Brazil, then lenient spread of playoff opponents

Who were the biggest winners and losers of the NFL schedule release ? Jeff Howe has you covered.

The Philadelphia Eagles will begin their attempt to renew their status as a Super Bowl contender with the NFL ’s first-ever game in South America in Week 1, and they will close the regular season against a familiar NFC East rival for the third straight season. In between, there are six other teams that made the playoffs in 2023. Let’s break this down.

Week 1 keys to victory

Questions. So many questions. What does a Nick Sirianni-Kellen Moore offensive blend look like? And how smoothly is it operating at this point? There’s a lot of film on Vic Fangio as a seven-time NFL defensive coordinator and former head coach of the Denver Broncos , but there could be new starters for at least five different positions on an Eagles defense whose depth chart underwent a major offseason makeover. Even Michael Clay, the only coordinator retained from the 2023 staff, must figure out the NFL’s new kickoff rules. If that’s not enough logistical chaos, the Eagles must organize their schedule around traveling to Sao Paulo, Brazil, as part of the league’s debut in South America. Sirianni, in his CEO-type role, must play air traffic controller and ensure smooth takeoffs in all phases.

Must-watch game: Packers (Week 1)

All of the newness mentioned above helps make this matchup so compelling. The setting for this game makes it a must-watch altogether. The football portion also presents an intriguing crossroads. The Eagles are attempting to stabilize themselves as a perennial playoff contender, and the Packers are attempting to continue their climb into the upper echelon of NFC powerhouses. Jordan Love looked like the NFL’s next star quarterback in Green Bay’s stunning beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys in last season’s NFC wild-card round, and the Packers subsequently almost prevented the San Francisco 49ers from reaching Super Bowl LVIII. This game’s a toss-up that could create important momentum for either team.

Find the best deals on tickets to see your favorite teams.

Toughest stretch: Weeks 8-10

This year’s schedule is far more favorable for the Eagles than last year’s. Last season, they played seven straight teams that made the playoffs in 2022. This year, they’ll only play two straight teams that made the 2023 playoffs. They’ll technically do this twice, but Philadelphia’s Week 4 away game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be followed by a scheduled bye week before the Eagles host the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. Their consecutive games against the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens in Weeks 12 and 13, respectively, will be played on the road. That makes a midseason stretch against three playoff contenders ( Cincinnati Bengals , Jacksonville Jaguars and Cowboys) the toughest.

A game that has gotten tougher: vs. Commanders (Week 11)

The NFL treated the Eagles favorably early on in the season for traveling to Brazil. Playing the Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football” in Week 2 should give Philadelphia’s players and coaches plenty of time to overcome their jet lag. But the Eagles will only have three days between their Week 10 game against the Cowboys and their Week 11 game against the Washington Commanders . The Commanders have a little more allure now that they’ve selected Jayden Daniels , which makes the “Thursday Night Football” selection sensible. That doesn’t make it any less of a logistical nightmare.

One game the Eagles can’t afford to lose: Panthers (Week 14)

The Eagles would’ve had the NFC’s No. 1 overall seed if they hadn’t lost to the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants in consecutive collapses to close the regular season in 2023. In what should be another tight divisional title race in the NFC East, the Eagles know they can’t miss the layups. The Panthers remain a poorly run organization whose recent accomplishments include teaching its fan base all of the English language’s synonyms for “misery.” Philadelphians are armed with far worse words if the Eagles somehow mishandle the bottom feeders of their schedule once again.

Best offense the Eagles will face: Cowboys (Weeks 10 and 17)

This one’s close with the Ravens adding Derrick Henry in free agency and Joe Burrow returning to the Bengals after season-ending wrist surgery. But Sirianni overhauled his defensive coaching staff with six new hires and two reassignments to rectify dysfunctions the Cowboys twice laid bare in 2023. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb still headline a Mike McCarthy-led system that ranked second in the NFL in terms of expected points added per snap last season and averaged the league’s most points per game (29.9). Dallas must identify a true RB1 after losing Tony Pollard in free agency, but there’s still plenty of depth to demand the attention of Fangio.

Best defense the Eagles will face: Browns (Week 6)

Just how good is the Eagles’ offensive line without Jason Kelce ? The Browns and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett represent their toughest test. Cleveland’s defense carried into the 2023 playoffs a franchise whose offense was often lifeless in the wake of Deshaun Watson ’s season-ending shoulder surgery. An offense that led the league in turnovers (37) inflated a scoring defense that ranked 13th in the NFL (21.3). Other metrics told the real story: The Browns’ defense surrendered the league’s fewest yards per play (4.6) and ranked first in the NFL in terms of EPA per snap. Denzel Ward , Martin Emerson Jr. and Greg Newsome II may be the league’s best cornerback trio, which sets the table for a compelling battle against Jalen Hurts , A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith .

Predicted record: 12-5

The Eagles should make the playoffs for the fourth straight season considering the wealth of talent on their roster. But schematic changes on both sides of the ball project uncertainty. This is a team with a high ceiling. It’s also one that can collapse, as it did last year if its systems aren’t sound. There’s pressure in such a precarious season. The Eagles are a younger team that will rely on new faces and new leadership. But a high-caliber core remains. After going 1-6 to end the 2023 season, the Eagles added to a roster that should supply more consistency, especially on defense. Stabilization as a legitimate Super Bowl contender will be the bar of this team’s success.

Predicted NFC East finish: First

1. Philadelphia 2. Dallas 3. Washington 4. New York

The NFC East won’t be as top-heavy as it was in 2023. The Commanders, who twice challenged the Eagles in close calls last season, shouldn’t get swept in divisional play again after drafting Daniels No. 2 overall. Washington may play a spoiler in what should once again be a tight title race between Philadelphia and Dallas. Two reasons to pick the Eagles: they addressed their needs on defense, and there hasn’t been a repeat division champion since the 2003-2004 Eagles.

After wrapping up their current U.S. tour with a pair of November shows at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, the Eagles will take a seven-month break before revving up again and flying overseas for a 2022 summer stadium tour. The five-show swing is slated to kick off on June 17 at the Gelredome in Arnhem, Netherlands, before moving on to Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England.

The trek will continue with a gig a Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, followed by a show at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland and a June 26 gig at Hyde Park in London as part of the BST Hyde Park series, where they will share the bill with former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and bluegrass legend Alison Krauss. Other acts slated to play this year’s massive BST event include Elton John, Adele, Pearl Jam and Duran Duran.

Ranking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 5 Best Games on Their 2024 Schedule

River wells | 20 hours ago.

Jan 15, 2024; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) throws

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a first-place schedule, and as a result, plenty of great games for football fans to watch. It will likely be a tough road for the Bucs, but coach Todd Bowles and his squad are likely jumping at the chance to prove that they can play with the league's best.

It was tough to choose, but here are our five games to watch for Bucs fans in 2024, ranked:

5. Atlanta Falcons, Week 5 (Thursday Night Football)

Dec 10, 2023; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Atlanta Falcons cornerback Clark Phillips III (34) breaks up a

The Falcons are set to be Tampa Bay's biggest rivals in 2024 for the NFC South, and their first matchup with each other is under the lights in Atlanta. This will be a big matchup for the NFC South, and it should be a good way to get a look at how the battle between the two teams will go going forward. Tampa Bay plays Atlanta at home again in Week 8, so the NFC South could have a frontrunner sooner than later.

4. New Orleans Saints, Week 18 (TBA)

Dec 31, 2023; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) throws the

The Bucs and the Saints have developed quite the rivalry over the years (despite what some Saints fans may tell you). Just like that Week 5 game in primetime will be an indicator, this game could decide the NFC South much like Tampa Bay's last two games in 2023. This one will be played at home just like last year's Week 17 game, but the Bucs will hope to win this time around.

3. Philadelphia Eagles, Week 4

Jan 15, 2024; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Chase Edmonds (22) is tackled

The Bucs and the Eagles also go way back, although you don't have to go too far for the last meeting when Tampa Bay obliterated them in the first round of the playoffs in 2023. The Eagles are trying to get back on track after a massive collapse at the end of the year, and Tampa Bay will look to prove that they can still hang with top teams. The Bucs lost their regular season matchup against Philadelphia last year, but they'll hope to establish themselves early with a win over them this year.

2. Baltimore Ravens, Week 7 (Monday Night Football)

Aug 26, 2023; Tampa, Florida, USA; Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill (43) tackles Tampa Bay

Lamar Jackson is one of the NFL's best quarterbacks, coming off an MVP bid in 2023. The Ravens have a dynamic offense and a tough defense, making them a perfect test for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the game is also on primetime in Monday Night Football, so it will be another opportunity to show the NFL world what they're made of. This game will be a tough win, but if the Bucs do it, they'll be a true NFL contender.

1. Kansas City Chiefs, Week 9 (Monday Night Football)

To be the best, you gotta beat the best, and the Chiefs are definitively the best team in the NFL. This is one of Tampa Bay's two Monday night games, but unlike the Ravens game, they'll have to go into the heart of Chiefs Kingdom in Arrowhead Stadium to try and eke out a win. Tampa Bay hasn't beaten the Chiefs in the regular season since 2016, though fans of both teams will remember when Tom Brady led the Bucs to a Super Bowl in 2021 over Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City.
