Founded in 1935, Bud Delp started the Movie Stars Homes with three limousines and drove star struck tourists around Los Angeles to see celebrity homes. In the mid 60’s, our President and owner Vahid Sapir, who was at the time an exchange student from Iran with an entrepreneurial spirit, became Bud’s protégé. By the end of the decade, he took out a $50,000 loan, bought the company from Bud and built Starline to what it is today – a thriving tour company with a large fleet of open-top vans, closed-top double-decker buses and open air trolleys offering a variety of tours given by our fun, up-to-the-minute informed drivers.

After reading the reviews of the Starline Hollywood tours, we were a little hesitant to book but wanted an easy way to see different parts of LA. We were spending time at the Grove and realized it was very easy to catch the red tour bus outside and pay on the bus. After calling Starline, they told us the exact address to wait for the bus. It wasn't marked super clean but her directions got us there and after only waiting about 2 minutes, the bus was there to start the tour. The tour goes throughout different parts of LA including Beverly Hills, Hollywood and with the other buses, really anywhere you want. The passes come in 24hour increments so I would recommend using the whole day to see the sites. We had wanted to use the yellow bus to visit Santa Monica but realized we did not have time to get back to the Grove. In general, we enjoyed the information and seeing different parts of LA. It was a beautiful day so the top deck was great to sit and see! The bus drivers were nice and we really didn't wait for more than a few minutes per bus. Would recommend if you are looking for a fun and easy way to travel through LA!

I bought two tickets for friends and payed $80 in total, looking at the website I thought they could do the yellow and red line that covers from Santa Monica to the Hollywood area, my friend complained to me that the driver who was driving the yellow line never stopped the bus at any of the bus stop, only to pick up a couple, when they got at the stop number 7 to change to the red bus I found out that the $80 that I payed for them covered only one line. I definitely don't recommend this company.

Wow was this an experience, one I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. It was so bad I'm writing this review as I'm stepping off the bus. The tour guide was awful, pointed out nothing of actual interest and was asking riders about their favorite movies. His mic feedback went off non-stop making it unbearable to listen to. We had 4 buses for our event, 1 of the bus drivers didn't know the route and was arguing with the guide on where to go. Do yourself a favor and do a self guided tour or just google some information about LA. It will be significantly more informative that using this company.

We have used Starlline tours before in London, Miami and Toronto. They are a decent way to get the lay of the land if you don't have much time. I also like siting up top and looking down on the sights. We drove up to Hollywood and parked near the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We paid $20.00 to park for the whole day as we figured we would be there awhile. We took our first bus around 9:00 AM, this was the red route. The red route hit a lot places on Sunset and they have a recorded tour that you can listen to explaining all of the sights and history from the bus. They supply the head phones also. On some of the other StarLiine tours they had a person on a speaker doing the the guide and I missed that interaction. We also went through Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, The La Brea Tar Pits and the Beverly center. The tour was about 2.5 hours. We got back to start point at 1:00 and the next route we wanted to take, the Purple was at 2:00 PM. We killed the hour by grabbing something to eat at the mall on Holllywoood Blvd. The Purple route took us by Parmaount studios and into down town Los Angeles. I was pretty excited about this as I wanted to see historic section, Union Station, The Bradbury Building, The Angel Flight, etc. We didn't realize unlike the Red route, that has another bus every 20-30 minutes, the Purple only comes every 1:40 minutes. So sadly we did not get off the bus to see these sights as that would have put us back in Hollywood past 6:30 PM. We did get some nice views of China Town, the Staples Center, etc. I wish we had more time. The two routes weren't bad and again these tours are a good way to get a quick look at the city and give you an idea what to see and what to come back for. The Red route with its 20 minute next bus time is a good way of getting around also. I heard it is a 2 hour ride to get to the transfer bus to go to Santa Monica so that is something to consider if you want to see Venice beach, etc. LA is a spread out city with a lot of traffic so that also effects the tours. We paid about $39.00 per person for the one day/24 hrs.

We decided to do the Hop on-Hop off tour with Starline and were very disappointed. First, the first bus we were on (yellow line) took a 10 minute detour. No explanation, just an announcement saying that if we were listening to the audio, there wouldn't be any for 10 minutes because we were taking a detour. Finally, the audio came on, but then the lights all went off! Again, no explanation. Then, we stopped at stop 7 with zero instructions and finally were told to get off to transfer to the Red Line and this Yellow line bus was taking a 25 minute break, this stranding all the Yellow line riders. Finally got a Red bus and went to Hollywood. It was uneventful, but not much info on the audio tour. Upon returning to stop 7 to head back to Santa Monica, the worker at the stop was down the street on her phone so we could not ask any questions. New bus pulls up, we all get on...NOPE.. gotta get off and wait on another bus going the same direction! Then, we have to wait for yet another bus before we can leave. Bus never comes. We finally leave. Zero audio all the way back to Santa Monica. Again, no explanation. I found this whole experience unbelievably unprofessional and disorganized. We chose this option in order to learn about the city and the buildings and history and such. I feel like this company preys on tourists and stole my money. The city bus would've been more informative and interesting. Don't waste your money! $98 wasted today. One more thing.. I am a travel agent and was checking this out for clients. I will NOT be sending them to this company.

This business ruined my visit to Hollywood. They stranded me for over an hour near the farmers market in LA. They said they had a bus that broke down and we would have somebody to help us in 20 minutes. 90 minutes later we were getting an Uber to rescue us from an absolute disaster. I can't imagine a company that is worse run than this one. "Big Bus" is their competitor, and we could have found 4 of their buses before Starline came by. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A PENNY of your business.

Can't rate Starline highly enough, the private tour of the Hollywood sign was awesome and the hop on hop off buses are a really handy way to see the city, choose places to go back to and get from one place to another

Was told pick up would be in 40 minutes.. over an hour later still not here. We are sitting in the sun on street. Called Stephanie the pissed off supervisor tells us.. driver is on break! WTH.. also says we have an attitude. Pretty much..paid money for a tour, went to meeting place on time.. no tour bus. Howeverp no attitude was given to Stephanie until she was very flippant about our situation. Attitude is getting worse by the minute. Worst customer service

We did a combo web special: Hollywood Fun Tour and Movie Star Homes Tour. The tour buses were both open and it was cold. However, we saw plenty. Really, all those studios so close together. And decades upon decades of rich film history: Gower, Columbia, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros, radio and much more.... Twenty-six (26) years of Three Stooges. They're more memorable than Abbott & Costello. Amazement. The Hollywood sign is glorious on the horizon with God. Then, we go into the mountains and the view of Los Angeles is just intoxicatingly gorgeous. Michael Jackson's mansion was saddening. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have mega security. Charlie Sheen ex-neighbors to Lindsay Lohan, however, still neighbors to Gwen Stefani and Paris Hilton. I know why Pharrell Williams is do 'HAPPY'. Bob Barker and Charlize Theron were home, in separate houses, but not peeking out the windows today. So many name to toss around.... Laurence Fishburne, Katy Perry, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Richard Gere, Bruno Mars, Spelling Home, Hilton Homes, Melanie Griffin, Jennifer Lawrence... How to say etc?!!! The Fresh Prince of Bel Air House is exactly what they've shown on television. I'd imagined touring the inside and enjoying some bbq in the backyard. It's like I belong in Bel Air. Regal home. Whitney Houston really died in a hotel bathtub. That's sooo tragic. Why would Obama love that hotel.... Maybe, he loves Houston's legendary status. I've been on Rodeo Drive.... department stores and designer name boutiques. Seeing it from a tour bus brings a whole new perspective though: Coco to Versace and jewels dripping in-between. We're loving it all. The tour guides were friendly, funny and knowledgeable. I recommend others to take advantage of the bus tours, but dress warm or go on hotter days.

I have never given a one star review to any business, but I have to say that Starline Tours provided the worst customer service and response to a situation that I have ever received. I have waited a while to write this review, but I do feel it is warranted. In the middle of our tour, the bus engine caught on fire. The driver and tour guide were ill prepared for it and there was literally no emergency protocol enacted. We were stuck in the bus for several minutes with smoke quickly billowing into the seating area as we tried to pry open the door. People outside were clearly yelling in panic which heightened the chaos even further. It was a truly scary situation. I was on the tour with my husband and young daughter who were both extremely frazzled by the situation. If not for a Good Samaritan outside the bus who pried open the sealed door, the situation could have been even worse. I understand that things happen, but where Starline really failed was in the follow up. After getting out of the bus, we were immediately ushered by the tour guide (who had just gotten of the phone with management) to a bar restaurant that was quite a ways down the street, completely away from the incident. We were never officially asked if we were OK or questioned by paramedics or fire officials. That seemed odd as it was a traumatic few minutes and we all had breathed in some heavy smoke and chemicals. Then again, Starline has walked us far away from the scene. After waiting there for a while, we were driven back to the Starline offices where we were asked to fill out a report of the incident for "legal" reasons. Considering that we all probably still had our adrenaline coming down, it seemed like an odd, on the spot ask of us. After all three parties on the tour completed the document, there were a few confused minutes where we were all just standing there, not sure of what to do next. An employee then came over and we had to ask "what next?". They said simply that we could leave at that point. Since our tour was not completed, I thought it was strange that we were given no options. I was told that we could come back the next day and attend another tour. That was it. Throughout the situation, I personally didn't feel that there was any real concern or consideration for what had happened. I also thought it was odd that their first action was to immediately walk us far away from where the fire department or police couldn't question us. Their overall response was strangely impersonal throughout. This was a scary situation that could have been disastrous. The way that they conducted the follow up to passengers who were stuck for a while in a burning bus with an engine that could have blown up was just not good at all. They offered refunds on the tour, but to add more insult to the situation, I had to call them several times over the next few weeks to actually get the refund. They kept saying it was completed when it wasn't. I know that they are providing a service and I am sure that many of the tours are great. Customer service is key though. Particularly in difficult circumstances and this organization failed in a major way in my opinion. All along they acted like they were in immediate protection mode rather than wanting to provide any real concern, consideration or true customer service to us.
