  • Mike E 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Expensive We bought two tickets to stay on the bus. It cost 24 euros. We wanted to get our bearings as we are here for a week. It lasted an hour and drove you around endless built up areas. No sight or little of the beautiful scenery to be seen in Paphos. Unless you want to use it as a hop on/off taxi service, 30 euro per couple don’t waste your money. We have been lucky to do these type of trips across continents, this was the worst👎. • TeresaSmith_13 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing experience What a fantastic evening / night time experience. Sunset, Singing, show, fireworks and finally a DJ.. No hesitation in booking this again when we go back to Cyprus. Collected and returned to your hotel / pick up point. Had concerns regarding food and drink but it seems it has been changed recently and you get a waiter who visits your table…very frequently..and for food, tables are called one at a time. May initially seem expensive but personally thought great value for money. Read more Written 28 October 2023

  • vansop 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Worthwhile tour A great tour but wish there were less people in each jeep giving us a bit more room for comfort. Trainers are a must for the hike in the gorge which could be difficult for those less able. Lunch was not as good as on other tours. The boat trip was very good but there was very little space left onboard when we got to the harbour. Read more Written 25 September 2023

  • Tina135 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Avoid at all costs and do not waste your money. Waste of money. We had a 24hr ticket and when we tried to use it the next day within the 24hrs, the driver would not allow it as he said that the 24hrs on the ticket would expire before the harbour stop from stop 10. Anywhere else in the world as long as you board the bus within 24hrs it is allowed. I want my money back for false advertising that you can use the ticket within 24hrs. Clearly what they mean is that you can use the ticket in 24hrs as long as you still have time on your ticket to get off the bus. The tour is very short (less than an hour) and they only come once an hour. Most of the time they run late but will easily blame the customer. Worst hop on hop off ever. The local bus is cheaper and much better. Its not as if there is any proper commentary or any info from the driver. Read more Written 5 August 2023

Staff were superb, food was delicious, entertainment was second to none and the party experience at the end was breathtaking. Thank you to Alina for her amazing voice and ownership of crowd atmosphere. Thank you to George and Chris for taking the time to take some great photos and give us a great memory to take away. Thank you to the bar staff that always had a smile and good service, and to the chefs for some beautiful food. A huge thank you to the Saxophonist. Best I’ve heard in a very long time. We came onto the boat to Jazz theme. I’m from a jazz background having played in a jazz band, and a jazz family who played for many years. The atmosphere and his playing (I’m so sorry I don’t remember the Saxophonist’s name) but please give him a massive thank you. Actually brought a tear to my eye. A massive thank you to the D.J. My god did he rock the dance floor. My 15 year old son was bouncing to get on the dance floor but would only go if his mother went too. So at almost 50 years old I was raving with my son. Thanks to the stag party too, you were great with him. I hadn’t seen him dance club-style before but my god he can dance. Even got recognition from others afterwards as we disembarked. My son asked me to “Thank you DJ. and tell you that you’re Awesome!!!! Only complaint was the disco part wasn’t long enough! But thank you” Last but certainly not least, thank you to the Captain and his staff. You made an already fabulous experience amazing with the onboard party movement and cannot fault you and your staff for safety first. Thank you from a family who are well impressed and will certainly come back again. My husband and I have even talked about coming out alone to party. And the boys can’t wait for their first lads holiday to bring their friends. Thank you so much. You’re all awesome Read more Written 16 February 2024

  • daveroberts2016 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Cyprus 2023 with friends After reading some of the reviews, and then saying “the boat was rammed” and “screaming kids”. Let me tell you, if you pick the time right, you’ll have the experience we did. As three families, we went as a group for this trip… it was fantastic!! The staff were SO friendly and helpful, we went to the second deck, up front (just in front of the Captain). The kids were allowed to visit this area, and even had a go at controlling the vessel! What a memory for 7&8 year olds!! Mo behind the bar was great, maybe we visited quite often (haha) but he knew what we required, and again the kids were allowed to assist in this too (I’d assume this wouldn’t always be the case if the boat was busy (we had about 80 people total)). Plenty of room. Blue Lagoon - beautiful! We’ve been lucky enough to visit so great wonders of the world, and this one, it’s up there. How often can you say you swam in the sea (at about 23oC) in late October!? We had about an hour or so anchored at this point. Food - more than you could wish for!! You won’t go hungry!! Great service around. Back in for another swim and some jumping/diving off the boat - I wasn’t brave enough to jump off the bow (sadly). Then headed back to port with a quick stop at Aphrodite to see where she was born, loved and died (great if you’re into that kind of thing). The two negatives… 1) we didn’t visit the ship wreck as advertised but that didn’t spoil the experience. 2) not the staffs fault, the coach and driver we had weren’t the best and to feel like we were on a Rally Stage is something to bear in mind; especially if you get travel sick. But DO NOT let that stop you from doing this experience!! Thanks Captain and the rest of the crew!! We will see you again. Read more Written 28 October 2023

The scenery, the food and especially the staff who couldn't do enough especially to those a little over the hill and those only just starting to walk up it. I have trouble walking, especially chairs. Lovely cruise from Latchi which should have gone to Paphos but due to the rough sea we couldn’t end up at Paphos however we spent the day cruising around latchi with two stops for swimming, snorkelling or canoeing . All food and local drinks were included in the price which started with different types of pastries on arrival, and then several options for lunch including bbq meats followed by cakes and fruit. Special mention for Katie the young welsh lady singer and the guy behind the bar ,lovely people, and not forgetting the crew members all of whom were helpful and did their best to make the day totally enjoyable ! • Kevjevan 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Totally shocking! Where do I start! I have done many trips over 23 years with this company some not good and some just fantastic. But this trip was terrible as I will explain. When we booked it was written on the ticket needs special assistance as one person in a wheelchair. But when we arrived we got no help with the wheelchair or help getting the person up the stairs no help from the staff at all! Which was shocking as other trips in other boats with the same company staff have really helped with the wheelchair and getting up the stairs etc. We sat at the front and there was 8 lads on a boys trip getting drunk having a good time causing no problems. After a while they poured a couple of drinks over their friends for a laugh and the crew told them off and they apologised and did not do it again. One crew member just seemed to have it in for them telling them off saying they would be refused drinks. Why are they saying drink all you can have unlimited drinks then stopping them drinking! This one member of staff just moaned about them all the time. The lads were not happy they were refused drinks and I don’t blame them they were not causing any problems. They went and spoke to the captain and apologised if they had upset or offended anyone which they had not as we were sat next to them for the whole trip. Next thing the staff member who had a grudge or whatever told them there banned from getting any more alcoholic drinks until we reached Coral Bay. Once we arrived there it just defies belief what happened. 7 of the lads went in the water which to me was not safe and the captain has a duty of care so should have stopped them going in the water when drunk. When the lads got out the staff member told them they had to leave the boat! Which made no sense they had done no wrong! Next thing there being told the police will be called as they had given a lady a black eye! We know this was not true as we sat next to them the whole trip! Sadly the Captain and the staff member who did not like them would not listen made them get in the small boat and dropped them off at Coral Bay. I have never seen anything like this and when the captain got back on the boat he said something to one lady who was sat near us and shook her hand. Which seems later she complained but no idea why as the lads did nothing to her. Very very disappointing when the lads just having a good time and not hurting anyone. The staff member who had what I can only call a grudge against them came to us after they had put the lads ashore and said it will be better now and a lot more peaceful! I was shocked and told him and the captain the lads were no bother a good laugh and a very sad day they were thrown off the boat for just enjoying themselves. Read more Written 13 October 2023
  • O3339MSlouised 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles ONLY CARE ABOUT TAKING YOUR MONEY I am writing this review as we paid over 200 euro for 4 adults, 2 children and 2 toddlers to go on a boat trip on 28th September 2023. We were guaranteed to see turtles as my 3-year-old is obsessed with them or we would never have booked this trip. We did not see one turtle the whole duration. So straight away we were mis sold the trip. When the boat stopped to allow people to swim, my husband jumped off with the other. Whilst swimming the inflatable iceberg fell on top of him and he had to grab hold of it to move it from him. This can be a safety hazard for smaller children who could get trapped under it. In this moment, he was struggling to get it off him and there is no staff in the water to help. In this moment as he was lifting it off, his wedding ring came flying off his finger into the sea. We had only been married 5 days as we got married in Cyprus. The ring cost £1200 and we immediately felt sick. I advised one of the crew on the boat, what had happened. He had a UK accent. He told me that if we could show him where the ring fell off, he would send the divers in to find it. We told him it was beneath the iceberg but then he said, “you need to see the ring before I can send the divers in”. We spent the whole of that period, for well over an hour looking for the ring. There was a singer on the microphone, but no announcement was made to try to ask other swimmers for their help in looking. (By this I mean, they could have asked swimmers to keep an eye out whilst swimming). But this didn’t happen there was no concern and were literally left to just get on with it. The ring still did not show up, so I asked the crew member if he could log this for me, so that there is a record of it, should we need to claim on our insurance. The man took me to the captain, who did not speak English. He refused to log it as he didn’t witness my husband losing the ring. I told him that I did not want him to say he had witnessed it, but can he log that a passenger claims to have lost his ring in the sea? Again, he refused to help. I think that this is absolutely disgusting. We travelled all the way to Cyprus to get married and the businesses that make money from tourists, refuse to help. If we weren’t promised to see the turtles or if staff were monitoring the inflatable in the sea or if it just wasn’t there in the first place. My husband would still have his ring. Once we returned to land, we spoke to a lady called Andri, she wrote who worked for the company, she took notes and promised us someone would look for the ring the following day and if it could not be found she would call with the next steps. She did not call and now we cannot proceed to claim via our insurance. We wasted over 200 euro on the day and over 1500 euro on the ring. I wrote a complaint and the company replied advising me to refer to the terms and conditions about personal possessions. They also said the Captain spoke perfect English, if this is the case then he must have just been rude as he didn’t speak directly to me, instead he spoke via the crew member in his native language. Now my claim has been rejected I cannot claim because there is no record of this happening with the company. Therefore, I am holding this company responsible for my loss of money, because they refused to assist us trying to look for the ring, calling us back and also not making a record of this. As long as they have your money, that is their only concern. Read more Written 13 October 2023

Port of Baltimore suspends ship traffic after bridge collapse: What it means for travel

Travel is being impacted by Tuesday’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse along Interstate 695 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Drivers were immediately directed to take alternate routes through the city, following the early morning incident. What’s less clear is what the bridge collapse may mean for upcoming cruises in and out of Baltimore.

“Vessel traffic into and out of the Port of Baltimore is suspended until further notice,” the Port of Baltimore posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Live Updates: Baltimore's Key Bridge collapses after ship hits it; construction crew missing

Rep. Kweisi Mfume, D-Md., whose district includes the bridge and the port, called the collapse an “unthinkable horror” and said he had spoken with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and the White House.

“They are responding with all of the assets at their disposal,” he said in a statement. “Our prayers right now are for the missing individuals and victims of this tragedy. We thank God for the effective service of our first responders.”

Here’s what we know.

Which cruises go to Baltimore?

Several major cruise lines serve Baltimore. According to the Cruise Lines International Association, the industry’s leading trade group, published itineraries in the 2024 calendar year include a dozen ships making 115 stops in Baltimore.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy and collapse of the Key Bridge that occurred last night and extend our support and heartfelt prayers to all those impacted,” CLIA spokesperson Anne Madison said in an emailed statement. “We join everyone in extending our thanks and appreciation to the first responders and emergency workers in Baltimore, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other professionals who are working with one goal in mind—to save lives. We are closely following this situation.”

Carnival’s website shows Carnival Pride and Carnival Legend also have sailings into or out of Baltimore set for April.

Carnival Legend will temporarily move operations to Norfolk, Virginia.

The ship's current cruise, which left for a planned round-trip sailing from Baltimore on March 24, will end in Norfolk on Sunday. Passengers will then receive free bus rides to Baltimore. The vessel's next cruise will sail round-trip from Norfolk later that day.

“Our thoughts remain with the impacted families and first responders in Baltimore,” Carnival president Christine Duffy said in a statement. “We appreciate the pledge made by President Biden today to dedicate all available resources to reopen Baltimore Harbor to marine traffic as soon as possible. As those plans are finalized, we will update our future cruise guests on when we will return home to Baltimore, but in the meantime, we appreciate the quick response and support from officials in Norfolk.”

The cruise line has not yet shared plans for Carnival Pride. Carnival's parent company, Carnival Corp., said the temporary change in homeport is estimated to have an impact of up to $10 million on adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income this year, according to a news release .

Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas, which left from Baltimore on March 23 , will return to Norfolk instead on April 4. "Our guests on board will be provided compensation and complimentary shuttle transportation as well as Wi-Fi and phone calls to adjust their travel arrangements," a spokesperson said in an email.

The ship's April 4 and 12 cruises will leave from Norfolk, too. "Our guests booked to sail with us will receive compensation due to the necessary adjustments made to their vacations," the spokesperson added. "After returning from the April 12 cruise, Vision will head to the Bahamas for its previously scheduled maintenance."

Was your cruise itinerary changed?: What to do next

American Cruise Lines has roundtrip sailings from Baltimore scheduled in May, according to its website.

“We will monitor the situation and make adjustments to future cruises if needed, but at the present time our schedules remain unaffected, and our thoughts remain with those affected by the immediate situation and rescue efforts underway,” an American Cruise Lines spokesperson told USA TODAY.

Norwegian Cruise Line doesn’t appear to have any Baltimore sailings until September on Norwegian Sky . The line will stay in contact with the port and share any changes with passengers and travel partners, according to a spokesperson.

"In the meantime, we wish the city of Baltimore strength during this very unfortunate event," they said in an email.

Alternate routes for the Baltimore bridge

Most drivers can take Interstate 95 (Fort McHenry Tunnel) or Interstate 895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel) to avoid the collapsed bridge. However Maryland Transportation Authority notes there are some exceptions .

Vehicles carrying hazardous materials, including more than 10 pounds of propane, are not allowed in the tunnels. Additionally, vehicles more than 13-feet and 6-inches high or 8-feet wide may not use the 1-895 Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. Vehicles more than 14-feet and 6-inches high or 11-feet wide may not use the I-95 Fort McHenry Tunnel.

Those vehicles should use the western portion of I-695 instead.

  • Government House;
  • Expocentre Exhibition Complex;
  • and other famous sights.

You will learn about the different epochs of the city from the foundation in 1147 till Soviet times of 20 th  century.

Moscow River

Moskva river has the form of a snake and is the main waterway of Moscow, consisting of a cascade of reservoirs. Within the city, Moskva river is 80 km long, 120 m - 200 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The narrowest part of the river is the Kremlin area in the city center, and the most extensive is around the Luzhniki Stadium in the south.

Bridges in Moscow

Undoubtedly, bridges and embankments are among the most scenic spots and main attractions of Moscow. Plus, they are so romantic.

  • Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge –  Great Stone Bridge –  is the main bridge of Moscow . The first stone bridge was constructed here in the 17th century.
  • Patriarshy Bridge  is one of the youngest pedestrian bridges, built in 2004. The bridge connects the iconic Christ the Saviour Cathedral with funky Bersenevskaya embankment, extremely popular place among locals for its trendy art galleries, cafes and panoramic views. Patriarshy Bridge used to be a shooting location for ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's New Year speech to the nation.
  • Borodinsky Bridge,  erected in honor of the 100th anniversary of the glorious victory in the Battle of Borodino (which every Russian kid knows about), a fierce legendary battle during the Russo-French war of 1812.
  • Bagration Bridge  one of the  pedestrian bridges with most picturesque views of the Moskva River with its numerous upper-level observation platforms. The bridge was erected to celebrate the 850th anniversary of Moscow city in 1997.
  • Krymsky Bridge  used to be in Top 5 Europe’s longest bridges some 100 years ago. The bridge got its name after the ancient Krymsky ford which Crimean Tartars used to invade Moscow in the 16 th  century.

Embankments of Moscow

Moscow river boats 37 embankments, the most popular being Kremlevskaya, Sofiyskaya, Pushkinskaya, Vorobyovskaya and Kolomenskaya.

You can get the most spectacular views of the Kremlin from  Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.

  • Pushkinkaya embankment  is the most romantic in Moscow. It meanders along Gorky Park and Neskuchnyi garden and is rich for all kinds of entertainment as well as cozy nooks, including Olivkovy beach, the famous Zeleny theater as well as a pier for river cruisers.
  • Vorobyevskaya embankment  is part of Sparrow Hills nature reserve. This place opens a beautiful panorama of the river and city from the observation deck and is considered to be the place for taking serious decisions in life.
  • Embankment in Kolomenskoye  Museum-Reserve has a special charm due to its peculiar geographical relief. The boat trip around Kolomenskoye would be the most peaceful in your life.
  • Taras Shevchenko embankment  is popular among photographers for its modern Moscow City skyscrapers. Highly recommended for your night boat trip.
  • Embankments of Moscow are the pride of the capital. A distinctive feature of each of the promenades is its architecture and beautiful views. In addition, almost all the embankments of Moscow have a rich history and a lot of notable buildings.

Different epochs

Taking a walk along the Moskva River by boat, you will witness the architecture of Moscow from different eras and styles. Archaeological studies indicate that already in the XI century there stood a fortified settlement on Borovitsky hill, which is now called the Kremlin. Little fortress could not accommodate all the residents of the rapidly growing city, and the Grand Duke ordered the construction of a new Kremlin, larger than the former.

Boat trip around Kolomenskoe Park

Moscow river boat trip starts from the pier Klenovy (Maple) Boulevard and provides reat views of Nicholas Perervinsky monastery.

Nicholas Perervinsky monastery was founded at the time of the Battle of Kulikov (1380). The monastery, got its name from the surrounding area – “Pererva”, which can be translated like “tear off” and because of the location –  here it abruptly changed its course, turning to Kolomna, standing on the opposite bank.

Nowadays Kolomenskoye is State Art, Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve, which doors are open to everyone who wants to get in touch with the ancient history of Russia.

Take a break from the big city hustle in the shady parks and gardens of the Kolomenskoe Museum-Reserve. Don’t miss a wonderful Church of the Ascension and Tsar Alexey’s Palace in Kolomenskoye!

Monasteries and temples

  • Novospassky Monastery
  • Founded in the 13th century on the site where now is located the Danilovsky monastery. After a few decades, in 1330, Ivan Kalita moved the monastery onto the Borovitskii hill of the Kremlin. However, in the 15th century, Spassky Monastery again moved, this time to a more spacious place on Krasnoholmskaya waterfront.
  • Church of St. Nicholas in Zayaitskom
  • Erected in the middle of the XVIII century in baroque style. The building survived after the 1812 fire, but the utensils were destoyed. Parishioners collected donations and restored the temple on their own. In Soviet times, it was closed and re-opened only in 1992.
  • Cathedral of Christ the Savior
  • The church was originally erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon and was being under construction for long 44 years. Notoriously demolished in 1937 to be a giant swimming pool under open sky. The current building was constructed in 1990s. It is the tallest and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
  • The temple was built in 1679-82, during the reign of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, in late Muscovite Baroque style and can be characterized as bonfire temple. Each gable is a symbol of a heavenly fire.
  • Novodevichy Convent
  • The most famous concent and monastery in Moscow, presumably founded in 1524. Novodevichy’s status has always been high among other monasteries, it was in this monastery where the women of the royal blood, the wives of Tsars and local rulers of Moscow were kept in prison as nuns.
  • St. Andrew’s church  (male acts as Compound Patriarch of Moscow)
  • St. Andrew’s church stands right on the slopes of the Sparrow Hills, on the way down to the Moskva River, on the territory of the Nature Reserve “Sparrow Hills”. The monastery is small in size but is very cozy. It’s situated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by temples, fruit trees and flowers.

We will have 2 full days to sightsee in Moscow in June prior to a cruise and would welcome recommendations. We are traveling independently and will have a guide for 2 days. We will also have a car and driver on 1 of those days.

We plan to see the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's mausoleum, GUM Department Store, the Metro and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. What else should we try to include?

The Kremlin is enormous; what should we be sure to visit?

Unfortunately, it looks as though the Bolshoi will not be performing during our dates, but the circus will be in town. Has anyone seen the Moscow circus? Tickets online are about $100. Worthwhile?

Our hotel is the Moscow Marriott Tverskaya. Has anyone stayed there?

Any recommendations for restaurants or Russian foods to sample?

Hi, Colleen! THANKS for posting this Moscow thread! We did a one-day, fly to Moscow and back, one-day tour from our 2008 cruise ship docking in St. Petersburg. It was a long day and there was lots of time taken in the logistics in and out of this large city of twelve million people, but it all worked well. It was worth visiting there.

As you can see by the pictures below we were focused more around the Kremlin, Red Square, etc. We also did the subway, which was very interesting and beautiful, plus seeing some other well-known structures, including the KGB Headquarters, Bolshoi Theatre, the Stalin-era government towers, etc.

The Kremlin includes many different buildings , but there are a few that are very important. At the top of the list, but not easy to just walk in without special arrangements, is the spectacular Kremlin Palace. Its rooms are large and historically significant. This is where the Czars were crowned and the place where current Russian Presidents are sworn in, hold their receptions, sign treaties, etc. Kremlin’s State Armoury, with the famed eggs & jewels, is a must see. Cathedral Square has three cathedrals within the 68 acres of the Kremlin with its walls and twenty historic towers. The Cathedral of the Annunciation was completed in 1489. Ivan the Great Bell Tower is on this Cathedral Square and is said to mark the exact centre of Moscow. It resemble a burning candle and was completed in 1600. It is 266 ft. high and was, until the 20th Century, the tallest structure in Moscow.

Your hotel is at a little distance for the historic heart of Moscow. Do you want to see some of their art museums and other collections within this town? Will you have a guide for part of your visit to Moscow? That might be helpful to navigate and understand a city where the signs and language are not all user friendly. Let us know your added question and reactions. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Thank you for the wonderful pictures of Moscow!!!! We will also be taking a one day tour of Moscow thru Celebrity. We are so looking forward to it. I did not know that we might stop at Gum Department Store, that would be awesome. Anything else we should be on the look out for??

Thank you for taking the time to post your beautiful photos.

We booked through Mir Travel & have arranged for a driver and guide. We'll arrive in Moscow on a Monday and leave on Thursday for Istanbul. We applied for our independent Russian visas this week, a somewhat time consuming but required process.

I'll check with Mir to see that arrangements have been made for us to see the areas of the Kremlin that you mentioned, particularly the Faberge eggs.

I know that the location of the Marriott Tverskaya isn't as close to Red Square as we might like, but the hotel prices in Moscow are shockingly expensive, among the highest anywhere.

Keep posting your marvelous photos.

THANKS to Laura and Colleen for the nice comments! Much appreciated. On GUM Department Store, it sets right on Red Square and is easy to enter and check out it interior. It looks more and more westernized with its shops, dining options, etc., on the inside. The outside of it is a large, massive late 1800's structure. A new Coach shop was getting ready to open there in the fall of 2008. The State Armoury is great and it is fairly easy to go into there. The Kremlin Palace is the superstar that is much harder to tour. Push for that one, if possible. Read up on the history of Faberge and their production techniques, etc. We had a ship presentation on that background that was very helpful.

I would encourage Colleen to read up ahead on Moscow and push your tour folks to consider carefully your many options. I really like the Eyewitness books that have an excellent mix of text, history, photos, maps, building cut-aways, etc. YES, Moscow is very costly for its hotels. Below are a few more visual previews. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
