This half-day walking tour takes you from ship to beach to Santa Barbara's popular Funk Zone. It combines mini photo lessons with food, wine, beer and spirits providing fabulous photos, a full belly and a smile on your face. Great for all fitness levels and photo skills, it lets you explore a storied part of downtown with its fascinating sub-culture of artisan shops, hip restaurants, nook wine tasting rooms and award-winning microbreweries housed in aged warehouses and forgotten scuba shops, transforming the zone into an understated array of hidden hot spots along California's Central Coast. Walking back to the tour shop, say farewell to your guide and either set out on your own for a few relaxing hours of independent exploring and shopping or catch the shuttle for the convenient transfer back to the ship. For some of the best whale watching opportunities in the world, look no further than the waters off your port city of Santa Barbara. Step aboard a state-of-the-art, high speed catamaran for a full-day, guided whale-watching expedition. Watch from within the luxurious, teak-paneled cabin equipped with large tinted windows perfect for optimal wildlife viewing. Or take your place on a viewing platform on the bow or top deck, basking in the sun and brisk sea breeze. The Waterfront Department schedules cruise ship visits during the Fall, Winter, and Spring and typically does not schedule cruise ship visits during the busier summer months of June, July, and August.

Indulge your inner wine connoisseur during this lovely, full-day, guided tour of Santa Barbara County's remarkable wineries. A comfortable motorcoach awaits you at your pier where, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you will be transported out of your port city up to the Santa Ynez valley with its winding roads dotted with quaint farmhouses and surrounded by lush hills and golden valleys that beckon you. Tucked away in the mountains outside Santa Barbara, the fertile Santa Ynez Valley provides the ideal Mediterranean-style climate for growing grapes. It's no wonder that the area has been producing award-winning wines since the 1970's. Located within this valley are some of the most accomplished winemakers in California. The east of the valley where the inland climate is warmer is dominated by full bodied Rhone style wines such as syrah, grenache, and viognier. In the west, the cooler sea breezes create a climate perfect for the Burgundy styles such as pinot noir and chardonnay. Located throughout the Santa Ynez Valley in lovely locales these charming wineries are all small, boutique producers - many of whom are still family owned! A beautiful backdrop for an experience that invites you to learn about the process of winemaking in a fun and informative environment. Your guided, not available to the general public, behind the scenes production tour will walk you through the process from grape to bottle. Whether you are a budding wine connoisseur or an aspiring sommelier, your expert guide will be happy to answer any questions you may have. With your souvenir tasting glass in hand, you will sample fine wines at each winery (you must be 21 of course!) and personally discover why wine experts toast the quality of vintages which emerge from Santa Barbara's soil. A freshly prepared wine country picnic will be provided at one of the wineries visited. So, relax amidst a backdrop of verdant hillsides and acres of sun-soaked vineyards as you indulge in a delicious meal. At the end of the tour, reboard your motorcoach for the scenic drive back to your ship. Princess Cruises to Launch Voyages Out of This Caribbean Destination for the First Time in 10 Years

Starting October 2025, the cruise line will sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico on seven-day voyages on board the Grand Princess.

Princess Cruises will return to San Juan, Puerto Rico, next year for the first time in more than 10 years, sailing week-long voyages from the U.S. territory.

Starting October 2025, the cruise line will sail from the capital of Puerto Rico on seven-day voyages on board the Grand Princess . Princess will plan to sail these southern Caribbean voyages through March 2026, the company shared with Travel + Leisure.

The Grand Princess will sail two alternating itineraries, both roundtrip from San Juan. The first will include stops in Tortola, St. Kitts, Dominica, Grenada, and Barbados, while the second will include stops in St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Vincent, and Barbados. Each will include a day at sea.

“Our return to San Juan after more than a decade not only reconnects our guests with a port rich in history and charm, but further expands the variety of departure points across North America that our guests can sail from,” Terry Thornton, the chief commercial officer for Princess Cruises, said in a statement shared with T+L. “Puerto Rico remains one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Caribbean and continues to attract new airlift from source markets across the U.S. as well as markets in Europe and South America, which makes it a great fit for Princess. Plus, there are many outstanding options to choose from for a great pre- or post-cruise stay.”

While on board the 2,600-guest Grand Princess ship, passengers can enjoy a mini golf putting course, indulge in afternoon tea, relax in the adults-only The Sanctuary, and more. The Grand Princess is the oldest in the company’s fleet , but underwent a major renovation in 2019.

Cruises from San Juan will go on sale on May 16, according to the company.

While Princess is making plans to return to San Juan next year, the company was forced to delay another 2025 debut when it pushed back the delivery of its newest ship , the Star Princess , by about two months. That ship is now expected to sail in the fall of 2025.
