Plan your visit to the Accademia Gallery

The Accademia Gallery is one of the top museums in the world and in Florence . Every year, millions of visitors to Florence and Tuscany enter the Accademia to see with their own eyes Michelangelo’s David and some of the most famous works of art and masterpieces that have marked mankind’s artistic innovation through the centuries.

Below are the basics to start planning your visit to the Accademia Gallery.

Via Ricasoli 58/60 – located between the Duomo and Piazza San Marco, on block closest to San Marco.

Museum Hours

The museum is open: from Tuesday to Sunday: 8:15am – 6:50pm (last entrance allowed at 6:20pm) The museum is always closed on Mondays.

The museum is also closed : January 1, May 1, December 25 (and every Monday).

Note: the museum is open on all holidays that fall during a week day aside from those mentioned above. If a holiday falls on a Monday, when the museum is generally closed, the Museum’s board of directors along with unions decide whether to do a special opening of the Accademia on that Monday given the long holiday weekend. These special openings will be on our “ News ” section so check there if a holiday on a Monday is coming up.

Special Summer Hours 2023

From June 13 through October 31, 2023, the museum will be open until 10pm every TUESDAY and until 9pm every THURSDAY. Last entrance is 30 minutes prior to closing time.

Admissions Tickets

There are three types of admissions tickets: read this page to get all of the details.

Services & Amenities

At the entrance, all visitors must go through security inspection. Items like scissors, blades or other metal objects that could pose danger to people or works on display will be confiscated by security and can be collected at exit.

The museum does NOT have a cloakroom, so visitors with large bags or backpacks, helmets, etc will not be allowed entry. Water bottles of up to half a liter are allowed in bags.

Umbrella-holder can be found before entering the Sala del Colosso (remember to pick it up on exiting the museum).

Restrooms are in lower level (near the exit) which can only be accessed at the end of your visit.

The museum is equipped to accommodate persons with motor disabilities. Entrance and ticket office are accessible from Via Ricasoli 60. All of the halls and galleries are completely wheelchair accessible. An accessible bathroom is available on the ground floor, near the elevator.

LOST & FOUND: Any objects left at the metal detector and not collected on the same day or lost in the museum will remain at the museum until the first Tuesday of the following month, then the museum send all these objects to the Lost and Found office of the City of Florence. The museum WILL NOT SHIP these forgotten items, you need to return to the museum in person to request assistance.

Rolling Stones kick off 48th tour with ‘Hackney Diamonds’ cuts and classics in Houston

The Rolling Stones opened their Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds on Sunday to a sold-out crowd of more than 70,000 fans at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Stones played just three new tracks from the album, choosing to focus instead on classic hits including “Start Me Up,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Satisfaction,” according to a press release. The decision to focus on older material was not unsurprising for a group with more than six decades of songs to choose from.

It was the rockers’ first performance of material from their 2023 effort “Hackney Diamonds” since the album’s surprise release at the 600-seat club Racket in New York last October. (Fans and celebrities packed that tiny venue expecting merely a Stones show and instead were treated to a breadth of new songs — and a Lady Gaga cameo.)

As the tour rolls on, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and company plan to make stadium stops in Glendale, Ariz.; Las Vegas; Seattle; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Orlando; Atlanta; Philadelphia; Cleveland; Denver; Chicago; Vancouver; Inglewood; and Santa Clara.

When the Stones hit SoFi Stadium this summer, they’ll be accompanied by the War and Treaty on July 10 and the Linda Lindas on July 13.

“Hackney Diamonds” is the rockers’ first studio album of original material in nearly two decades, following 2005’s “A Bigger Bang.” It’s also the Stones’ first LP since the death of founding drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. It’s the first time the band has been on the road since its 60th anniversary tour in 2022, and the tour will also feature a stop at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 2.

“Charlie was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever known,” Richards told Times music critic Mikael Wood in 2021, “and the most unlikely man to be famous. He hated that side of the job and used to savagely take the piss out of it.”

When “Hackney Diamonds” game out, Wood wrote in his album review, “The songs blend the same ingredients the Stones have been using since the beginning — blues, rock, soul, country, gospel — but they’re tighter and punchier than on any of the band’s previous late-era LPs.”

Meanwhile, according to Rolling Stone , back at the Houston concert one fan said, “People say Joe Biden is too old to be president. They need to look at Mick!”

That said, the Rolling Stones’ 48th tour is sponsored by AARP.

English teenager Kris Kim became the youngest player to make the cut on the PGA Tour in 11 years after a birdie at the last saw him get through to the weekend of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas with a shot to spare.

Amateur Kim, the son of former LPGA player Ji-Hyun Suh, made a second-round four-under-par 67, which included a run of five birdies and one bogey over his front nine.

At 16 years and seven months he became the youngest player to make the cut on tour since 14-year-old Guan Tianlang at the 2013 Masters, and, according to the PGA Tour, the fifth youngest in history.

“I’m happy. I can’t wait to get started again tomorrow,” said Kim, a junior member at Walton Heath in Surrey, whose seven-under total left him tied for 36th. “I’ve enjoyed it so much the last couple days and being here two more days makes it so much sweeter.”

Of his final-hole birdie, he said: “To be honest it being a par five it’s pretty helpful but yeah, there is always going to be nerves when you’re on the cut line.”

Kim’s compatriot Matt Wallace lost his overnight lead despite a second-round 66 – the highlight being an eagle after driving the 324-yard par-four 14th – moving him to 13 under.

Former nightclub bouncer Jake Knapp assumed top spot a stroke ahead after eight birdies in a round of 64. Texas native Jordan Spieth, the highest-ranked player in the field as world No 20, missed his fourth cut in six tournaments after a one-over 70 left him at four under.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Grace Kim stumbled to a 5-over 76 on Saturday in the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship — and still held onto a share of the lead.

It was that kind of a day at Wilshire Country Club, the tree-lined layout made difficult by bumpy poa annua greens and tricky wind conditions.

“It’s tough for everyone today,” Kim said. “It was just one of those days. It’s just golf.”

Four strokes ahead entering the day after rounds of 64 and 66, Kim was tied with fellow Australian Hannah Green, the defending champion who saved par with a 12-footer on the par-3 18th for a 70. They were at 7-under 206.

“The putt that I made on 18 almost felt like I birdie,” Green said.

Maja Stark, playing alongside Kim in the final group, bogeyed the 18th for a 73.

“You know that you can’t take every missed putt too personally because that’s going to happen for everyone,” Stark said.

The Swede was a stroke back with Jin Hee Im, the South Korean player who had a back-nine 30 in a 63 for the best round of the day, and Germany’s Esther Henseleit (71). Nasa Hataoka of Japan was 5 under after a 64.

Kim bogeyed the par-5 second hole and had a double bogey on the par-3 fourth. She also dropped shots on the par-4 10th and 16th holes.

“I tried to stay in the present of just the next shot, giving myself good chances,” said the 23-year-old Kim, The LOTTE Championship last year in Hawaii for her first LPGA Tour title. “I know I had a few three-putts in there, but just keeping my head in the game and not losing that shot focus.”

The 27-year-old Green rebounded from a 2-foot par miss on the par-4 17th with the par save on 18. After bogeying three of the last six holes on the front nine, she played a four-hole stretch on the back nine in 4 under. She eagled the par-5 13th and birdied 14 and 16, then missed the short putt on 17.

“I didn’t really have many full swings. Had a lot of half-shots in,” said Green, the winner in Singapore early last month for her fourth LPGA Tour title. “With the greens firming up and getting bouncy it kind of made it hard to completely trust that shot.”

Stark finished second last week outside Houston in The Chevron Championship, two strokes behind top-ranked Nelly Korda in the first major of the year. Korda withdrew Monday, a day after her record-tying fifth straight victory.

Giro 2024: Le classement de la 2ème étape du Tour d’Italie remportée par Tadej Pogacar

Seulement troisième samedi lors de l'ouverture du Giro, le coureur UAE Team Emirates a mis tout le monde d'accord dès la 2e étape en s'adjugeant un premier succès en solitaire sur le Tour d'Italie. Tombé après avoir crevé avant la montée vers le sanctuaire d'Oropa, Tadej Pogacar a finalement réintégré le peloton à moins de dix kilomètres de l'arrivée, avant de faire rouler son équipe pour faire un gros écrémage (Alaphilippe, Quintana, Schachmann).

Lancé par Majka à 4,5 km de l'arrivée, le Slovène est parti tout seul, laissant ses principaux concurrents dans le rétroviseur (Thomas, Bardet, O'Connor). Le Slovène vise un exploit rare, le doublé Tour d'Italie/Tour de France la même année qui n'a plus été réalisé depuis 1998 et l'Italien Marco Pantani.

Vainqueur la veille de la première étape à Turin , Jhonatan Narvaez a été lâché dès l'attaque de "Pogi" et lui cède la tunique rose de leader, qu'il étrennera pour la première fois lundi lors de la troisième étape entre Novara et Fossano (166 km).
