We can't offer all treatments during a home visit, but we can offer essential care to ensure you aren't in pain or uncomfortable while you are unable to visit the practice. We can offer routine checkups, dental cleaning, extractions, temporary fillings, denture repairs and new dentures. If you're in pain, we can issue antibiotics to treat the source of the pain, and pain relief to help keep you comfortable until you are able to undergo treatment. A common reason for home visits is to replace or repair dentures for elderly and housebound patients. We also support patients who are recovering from surgery, or those with additional needs who are unable to attend an appointment in our practice.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer home visits for patients with a dental phobia or anxiety. In this instance, we will work with you to make a trip to our practice as stress-free and relaxed as possible.

Are home dental visits safe?

Home dental visits are generally safe when conducted by licensed and trained dental professionals who adhere to strict infection control protocols. We have strict protocols for sterilising equipment and take all necessary precautions to ensure safety. We only carry out treatments that will be safe and hygienic to do so in a home setting. For more extensive and specialised treatment, we will work with you to arrange treatment in our practice, or refer you for hospital treatment if required.

Can I request a home dental visit for my family members or loved ones?

Yes, you can request home dental visits for family members or loved ones who require dental care but have difficulty going to a dental clinic. We will need to ask some questions about the patient and the space they are in to ensure we will be able to carry out an examination and any dental work required.

What Don’t We Offer?

Due to practical limitations, there are some procedures we are unable to carry out. These include bridges, crowns , implants and fillings. These treatments rely on the special dental equipment we use in our practice and, for health and safety reasons, we are not able to transport equipment to patients’ homes.

Mobile dentures near me

False teeth are removable dentures made of acrylic (plastic), nylon or metal. They fit over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps.

Sometimes all the teeth need to be removed and replaced and there is 2 types of denture:

• Full denture -Replace all upper and lower teeth/ just upper / just lower 
• Partial denture-Replace just one tooth or the missing teeth

It’s also possible that denture won’t give you the outcome you expect. Examine designs transparently with your dental specialist before you consent to go on.

Examples of when you would need a denture:

• Lost denture
• Hospital lost/damaged your dentures
• Broken denture
• Loose denture

They are 4 appointments in total for dentures, but we do provide an express service, where we will be able to give you the  denture in 2 weeks from the time we start the treatment.

It is very important to inform us if you are on blood thinners. We have experience with patients who have been on this medication and the facilities, for example we can use collagen pads that help clot blood, and after the tooth comes out stitches often make a massive difference to help to reduce any bleeding, and this is something that we can and do do in a home visit setting.

How Much Do Home Visits in the West Midlands Cost?

The Dentist Walsall’s home dentistry service strives to offer fair pricing that is competitive when compared to market rates. The rates for our home dentistry service are calculated according to the distance of a patient’s home from our practice.

Home Visits over Ten Miles Away

Due to logistical reasons, we regret that we are not able to offer home visits to patients whose home is more than ten miles away from our practice. We advise that, where possible, patients arrange transport to and from The Dentist Walsall practice in order to receive the care they require.

Care home dentist

The Dentist Walsall is able to offer discounts for multi-patient visits. This tends to be in the care homes. It maybe an NHS care home, or a private one, but either way, our treatment and prices are the same, as we are private treatment only.

Discounts can also apply to visits to nursing homes and other properties with multiple residents. Please contact us for more details on discounted rates for our home dentistry service.

Treatment fees are separate from the home dentistry service fee. Prices for the home dentistry visit including treatment costs are quoted per visit.

The number of visits needed will depend on the level of treatment you need. For example, fitting dentures could take up to two appointments, while extractions can typically be done in one visit. Please contact us to learn more about the expected timelines and treatment costs for procedures.

What to expect on a house call visit

The initial house call visit will take about one hour; however, our dentist will spend as much time as needed to make certain that the patient, care giver, or decision maker is comfortable and that any concerns are thoroughly addressed.

The House Call dentist will conduct a visual examination and take diagnostic photographs of the patient’s mouth.

DIGITAL X-RAYS

We will take the necessary x-rays using our state-of-the-art portable x-ray machine and x-ray shield that minimizes radiation exposure. The images can be immediately reviewed on our laptop.

CONSULTATION

Our dentist will consult with the decision maker regarding the findings, review treatment options, and create a plan.

EMERGENCY CARE

If needed, we will provide emergency care to quickly eliminate any discomfort.

In-home treatment can include cleanings, dentures, fillings, crowns, and extractions or palliative care.

At the conclusion of the visit, our team will provide education for the patient and family/caregivers as needed.

If further treatment is required, the designated Care Coordinator will contact the caregiver to schedule the patient’s next appointment.

He then went on to complete a two-year General Practice Residency where he served as chief resident of the department in his second year, overseeing the first-year residents and treating a wide variety of complex cases under general anesthesia and IV sedation. Dr. Nord then furthered his training in the specialty of Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at New York Hospital Queens, where he learned to provide complex care to patients needing implants, cosmetic dentistry, and full mouth rehabilitation.

Dr. Nord’s interest in house call dentistry and the treatment of special needs patients began back in Dental School, where he travelled to patient’s homes to fabricate dentures for them. David Blende

Dr. David Blende brings you over 30 years of dental expertise. After graduating from the University of Southern California, he practiced in Switzerland, then went on to build a successful aesthetic dentistry practice in Beverly Hills. He became one of a pioneering group of dentists to do full-mouth rehabilitation using general anesthesia in a hospital setting. He later went on to establish the Blende Dental Group, where patients have traveled from more than 30 states and 20 countries for extensive treatment, complex aesthetic dentistry, or to have all their treatment completed while they sleep.

To complete these cases, Dr. Blende joined the medical staff at eight San Francisco Bay Area hospitals. He also serves as Chief of the Dental Division at two of the major hospitals. In these positions, he interacts with the entire healthcare team from physicians of all specialties to case managers to assisted living community nursing directors. Through these relationships, he realized that many people do not have access to dental care because they cannot travel to or cooperate with a dentist. He founded House Call Dentists in 2008 with a vision to remove such barriers to receiving dental care.

As word spread that dental care was available outside the dental office, Dr. Blende began receiving requests from concierge physicians and some of his private clients for services at home. The Concierge side of the practice was established to provide the highest level of service: real relationships with clients combined with elegant results. In 2013, House Call Dentists opened a second location in Manhattan.

Dr. Chau earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco after completing her undergraduate training at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Upon graduating from dental school, she moved to Minneapolis to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Minnesota. In residency, she managed the care of medically compromised patients both in the clinic and under general anesthesia in the hospital. Some dentists may be able to treat people with special needs in their surgery. However, some people may not be able to get to their dental practice because of a disability or medical condition.

In this case, the dentist should refer the patient to a more specialised dental service. Ask your dentist what is needed for a referral and if it is suitable in your case.

Specialised dental services are commonly provided by community dental services.

Community dental services are available in a variety of places to ensure everyone can have access to dental health. These include hospitals, specialist health centres and mobile clinics, as well as home visits or visits in nursing and care homes .

Some hospitals or health centres also help people who need specialist care and may be able to offer treatment under sedation or general anaesthetic .

People who may need community dental services include:

• children with extensive untreated tooth decay who are particularly anxious
• children with physical or learning disabilities or certain medical conditions
• children referred for specific treatment
• children who are in foster homes or in residential care, or on the "at risk" register
• adults with complex needs who have difficulty accessing general dental services, including adults with moderate and severe learning and physical disabilities or mental health problems
• adults with medical conditions who need additional dental care
• housebound and homeless people

Tips for your appointment

If you are referred to a specialist dental service, check your dentist is forwarding all necessary documents.
