“When we first started talking about making this record as Boyzlife’s first studio album, we naturally talked about those influences a lot and have loved bringing these familiar sounds into our studio sessions and onto this record.

“Working with our producer Jackson has been an extremely creative process, we went into the studio with lyrics ideas, worked together to find a melodic sound to go with the lyrics and built the songs from there.

“Some things just fit into place and others get chopped and changed until we all agree we are on the right track. We are very excited about this album and can’t wait for people to hear it.”

‘Old School’ is  available to pre-order on standard and deluxe CD .

What a brilliant evening, The evening started with warm up act Cole Page, he got everyone up singing and dancing straight away which set the scene for the rest of the night. When the boys came on the atmosphere was electric, we had purchased the VIP tickets so were sat in the second row and were able to go to a meet and greet after the show.

I can honestly say that this was probably more enjoyable that the actual arena concerts i have been to as it was more intimate, we laughed, cried, danced and sang our hearts out and it was lovely to meet Keith and Brian afterwards too, what a great couple of lads, even though i am probably older than their usual fans there was nothing about the evening that i could say was bad at all it was so good, can't wait for the next one and would recommend it to anyone who loves Boyzone and Westlife, these pair were a mega hit.. oh and Keith was a great singer too he should forget what Louis says because he must have been tone deaf!

What a night. We went as VVIP this year and it was the best night ever. The boys are wonderful and make you feel so welcome and comfortable. The show was once again fantastic, the stories and the laughter, oh my sides were sore from the tales of their journey and adventures, you never know what they are going to do next.

Anyone having any doubt then don't book your night and you won't regret it. Keith and Brian you know how to keep us girls happy. Xx

Was very impressed with the boyzlife show - it was very funny and interesting listening to their experiences.

They sung lots of westife and boyzone songs and did a brilliant job on their own - Brian's voice is brilliant . Brought back lots of good memories from the last concert I went to see in Liverpool . Everyone joined in and the atmosphere was great - I got a little emotional on certain songs which I always do - had a great evening .

A brilliant show full of fun and songs from years gone by.

Unfortunately, parking was bad as the uni had allowed supporters of the football that was playing at the stadium next door to park there. Something the events staff should think about next time.

I’ve seen Boyzlife in Manchester a couple of years ago and looked forward to their chair sitting banter but that didn’t happen this time.... still a great show though

REVIEW: Boyzlife brought 90s and 00s nostalgia to Aberdeen

Boyzlife performing at the Music Hall.

Boyzlife. As a band name, it’s marginally better than McBusted.

Created in 2016 when Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden joined forces, last night’s Boyzlife show at the Music Hall in Aberdeen was what you might expect… and quite a bit more.

It is easy to forget just how dominant boy bands were in the 90s and early 00s. Boyzone and Westlife chalked up a staggering 18 UK number-one singles between them and shifted some 55 million records worldwide.

This was at a time when you had to walk to the record shop (remember those?) and buy them. It’s no surprise then that Duffy and McFadden have a seriously strong pop songbook to lean on.

Boyzlife play biggest hits for Aberdeen fans

The duo are on their ‘Old School’ tour, and it is just that – a run of 27 UK shows, from Truro to the Granite City. It harks back to a time when acts performed in provincial towns as well as cities to promote their records.

boyzlife old school tour

Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden, backed by an impressive six-piece live band, delivered a 90-minute set that was fun, had some touching moments, costume changes and showed the chemistry between the pair of them.

There were stories about their time working together and a nice tribute to Boyzone member Stephen Gately, who passed away in 2009. This saw members of the local Phoenix Theatre group up on stage, providing stirring backing vocals for Different Beat.

Vocally, neither Brian McFadden nor Keith Duffy have truly distinctive voices, but they blend well, which is exactly what is needed in vocal groups.

Then there are those songs. From opener Love Me For A Reason to the huge hook of Boyzone’s No Matter What, it was hit after hit. So much so that the Aberdeen audience, which was almost exclusively middle-aged women, were on their feet from the very start.

Boyzlife gig in Aberdeen

Boyzone and Westlife fans flocked to Music Hall

As well as plundering the Westlife and Boyzone catalogue, Duffy and McFadden (sounds like a law firm) performed a Beach Boys medley that added to the party night feel.

Rather like a drum solo, “Here’s a new one!” is often a cue for audience members to head out for a comfort break. In Boyzlife’s case it also means having to leave out a number one song or two, but to be fair. the emotive Burn For You stood up well in the set.

Talking of modern music, earlier on Nashville’s Keelie Walker opened the night with a short set of backing track-led R&B that was energetic but did seem to pass the Aberdeen audience by.

In contrast, Boyzone closed the show with a rousing version of Uptown Girl that had everyone on their feet again to end the perfect throwback party night. Terrific.

Boyzlife are currently on tour. Tickets for their upcoming dates can be purchased here.

The Strawberry Fountain

Boyzlife Tour at the Liverpool Philharmonic | Review

boyzlife old school tour

Lat night we headed to the Liverpool Philharmonic to watch the Boyzlife Old School Part Two Tour. For those that don’t already know, Boyzlife is made up of Kieth Duffy from Boyzone and Brian McFadden from Westlife, two of the biggest boy bands from the 90’s and 00’s who joined forces six years ago to create a new supergroup.

Boyzlife at the Liverpool Philharmonic

The night kicked off with two supporting acts, the first was Shab who along with her two incredible dancers created a buzz in the philharmonic and got people moving with her mix of dance and pop music including songs such as “Sexual” and “Serenity”. Shab was then followed by Aliens Don’t Ring Doorbells, a rock’n’roll band made up of an incredibly talented trio with lead singer, Adam King, originally from Liverpool, performing for his home city like never before. If you haven’t heard of Aliens don’t ring doorbells then I highly recommend you check them out as they were brilliant.

At 9pm, with everyone suitably warmed up and ready to party, Boyzlife hit the stage with some classics, which immediately saw the whole theatre take to their feet and dance and that’s pretty much how it then remained for the whole night.

The Boyzlife Old School Tour is advertised as a mix of old and new songs, however, I think they only performed one of their new ones which was perfect for me as I’m not familiar with the new Boyzlife material but was a huge Boyzone and Westlife fan back in the day and watching them perform all my old favourites was fantastic. The way Keith and Brain have combined their voices to cover all the tracks is seamless and even left me racking my brains as to which were Westlife originals and which were Boyzone ones, the two really do work well together.

Oh, and if, like me, the 90’s is your music era then you will love the throw back medley they have created in the middle which is like a whistle stop tour of 90’s boybands. The only question is will you be able to correctly guess them all in time?

The Boyzlife Tour is an amazing night. It is pure nostalgia, and allows you to indulge your 12 year old self in a way you never knew you needed to until now. It is guaranteed to have you singing, dancing and reminiscing all night long. Grab your tickets tickets for one of the remaining shows today.
