One of our party was a vegan, one vegetarian and one traditional, and all of the food - sweet and savoury - was fantastic - from finger sandwiches to scones and mouthwatering desserts. The bus is comfy, if a little bouncy! And the route takes in all the sights.

Our friends booked me and my wife this treat for my birthday and it was excellent, nice food great service one and half hour of travelling around London with good commentary of the sites in between listening to nice xmas carols, really do go into la la land. would recommend this trip to any age group.

The Peppa Pig afternoon Tea bus tour is probably the most excited and happy I have seen my daughter. She absolutely loved it and didn't want the tour to end. We got to take away peppa pig tea cups which now my daughter uses everyday. The customer service was fantastic and the way they kept the kids entertained was brilliant! The food was excellent and the interactive features on the bus was a great way to educate the kids. Pepper Pig Tea Bus put a huge smile on the little ones faces on sight with all the characters pictures all over it. There’s a toilet just for the little ones to use before or after tour which is approximately one & half hours. Little screens at each table keep you updated on the tour with Pepper; sing along to the wheels on the bus ! Bright's Bakery have just launched an Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea so I took my daughter and niece today. They both absolutely loved it! It was interactive, taught them fun facts about London Landmarks, lots of songs to sing-along to and of course the yummy afternoon tea. The drinks came in fun Peppa Pig cups which we got to take home. My daughters eyes sparkled with joy for the entire trip! All in all a fab experience!

I cannot recommend this bus tour enough! With the affects of Covid 19 still apparent in london we happened to be the only booking left on the tour and this fantastic team didn't cancel! It was a surprise 50th birthday present for my brother, who really enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent as was the Prosecco! Ellias and Monika looked after us all and sang Happy Birthday whilst delivering a birthday card and cake, as well as pointing out places of interest along the way. The warm scones with clotted cream and jam went down especially well. This was brilliant customer service which made the day fun, memorable and special. We booked this before the Covid 19 lockdown and found the staff at Brigit's Afternoon Tea Bus to be helpful and informative in the lead-up to the day. We still managed to have our trip on the same day that we had booked, although the pick up time was half an hour earlier, which was fine. Myself and my sisters had a brilliant time on Brigits Afternoon Tea Bus! On arrival at Victoria Coach Station we were greeted by two friendly tour guides who quickly allocated everyone to their seats. The tables and chairs were clean and they’d thought of everything like travel mugs for your drinks and slots to put them in so they wouldn’t spill when driving about. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and then clotted cream, jam and scones followed, warm from the oven?? There was also a selection of teas and coffees - the chai tea was lovely with milk and I don’t normally drink tea! The cappuccino was a little on the weak side...maybe strengthen that up a bit! We were driven around different sites of London...London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Royal Albert Hall and lots more with a good view of most things (it all depends on where you’re sitting!) The tour itself is done by an automated radio rather than the people on the bus which was absolutely fine with us but I would recommend it is a little louder as we couldn’t hear a lot of it due to the noise of the engine. Also the cutlery could maybe do with a little polish up! However, all in all, we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend others to go for such a good price!

Took my grandson on the Brigits Bakery Peppa Pig London Tour Bus today. What a fantastic 90 minutes. People running it were amazing they could not do enough for you. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, any food left over you were allowed to take it home and boxes were provided. Everyone including adults were given their own Peppa Pig cup and the children were also given a Peppa Pig activity book to take home. I am 63 and i thoroughly enjoyed it let alone my 4 year old grandson. I would highly recommend it was good value for money. If your child loves Peppa Pig then this is a must.

Lovely food and staff. Commentary a bonus on the route. Drinks were huge with a travel mug to take away. Only criticism was my daughter's dairy free cream for her scone - it was disgusting!

This is advertise as a tour, however on our trip we drove around london and there was no information given on the sites. There was no tour guide or recording playing. We simply had music, so it wasn’t so much a tour, but an afternoon tea on a bus

Where does the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in London meet?

The Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour departs from Somerset House in London. Somerset House is an art museum, located on the south side of the Strand in central London. It faces the River Thames, east of the Waterloo Bridge. Allow yourself time to meet the bus before your departure time, as the bus will not wait on late arrivals.

When does the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in London occur?

The Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in London happens Thursday to Sunday at both 12:15 pm and 2:45 pm. During peak times, another tour may be added at 5:30 pm. The tour lasts for 90 minutes and the double-decker Routemaster bus takes you around central London while you snack on great food.

What ages can go on the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour?

Children ages 2 and above can enjoy this afternoon tea experience. Even our older kids loved the design of the Routemaster bus with its bright colors and Peppa-inspired decor. It is a family treat!

The Brigit Bakery Bus also offers other afternoon tea bus tours including a classic tea, one for gin lovers, and other themed bus tours. How can I book the Peppa Pig tea bus tour?

You can go to the website to book the tour and select your preferred date and time for the super special Peppa Pig tour. When you book, you can also select whether you sit on the upper deck, lower deck, or if you want the VIP tour.

If you want the best views of central London, the upper deck is preferred, but when we went, only the lower deck was available and we still had a great experience.

How is the tour structured?

When you arrive, staff members will meet you and check your name off of their lists. This is not a hop-on, hop-off bus tour so plan on being on the bus for the full 90 minutes.

There is a bathroom on board, but staff will encourage that it is only for children’s use. You may want to pack hand sanitizer for cleansing your hands. Strollers must be folded to be boarded on the bus.

As the tour begins, you will hear the familiar voice of Peppa and their friends from the special built-in tablet at each table. The tour video features all of your favorite Peppa Pig friends narrating your London tour of all of the historical landmarks. The tablet devices and long songs help keep your kids engaged while on the tour and also give some great background on what you are seeing!

While you tour past landmarks, you can also feast on the delicious snacks provided right at your table!

What snacks are provided on the tour?

The official Peppa Pig afternoon tea menu offers such yummy snacks! There is plenty of food for all of your little piggies. The themed afternoon tea menu includes Daddy Pig’s pizza mini Margherita, Peppa Pig’s cookie shortbread (Peppa-shaped biscuits), Freddy Fox’s Egg and Cress finger sandwich, Mandy Mouse’s cheddar cheese finger sandwich, and Granny Pig’s mini scone.

My kids also loved the crudite and breadsticks with hummus. Of course, the indulgent treats are delicious! The Peppa Pig tours have chocolate truffles, Mummy Pig’s strawberry macaron, George’s seasonal fruit tart, and Rebecca Rabbit’s carrot cupcake (my favorite!).

What are the drink offerings on the afternoon tea bus tours?

This delicious afternoon tea has to offer hot drinks, of course! When you board the bus, your host and tour guide will give you a choice of several beverages. Options include water, coffee, hot chocolate, and a wide variety of hot teas. Check the website for the latest menu and updates.

What do you see on the tour?

The guided tour includes passing by Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Kids will love the animation of the London tour and many of the sites of London on the screens and parents will enjoy being able to see the sights while the kids are entertained.

We found the book a great thing to pull out while visiting London and traveling on public transport. Our two-year-old would grab the Peppa book and some crayons and keep herself occupied for a bit!

Road-testing Philly’s Tea Around Town, a British afternoon tea on a glass-topped tourist bus

T he intersection of Sixth and Market is usually teeming with flocks of tourists, gaggles of students on field trips, and folks on their way to work. But a new group has been congregating there lately, and they’re hard to miss: Clad in floral prints and solids that range in hues from pastel to fluorescent, with lace gloves and pinned-on hats and precisely coiffed hairstyles, they assemble, two by two, on Market Street. Like many milling around the sidewalk, they’re waiting for a bus. Unlike the bedraggled commuters, however, they’re in no particular hurry, because their ultimate destination is afternoon tea.

The twist here is that this crowd will take their tea on the bus — which happens to be two stories tall and topped by a flower-studded glass ceiling — during a tour of downtown Philly. If the premise of enjoying Earl Grey and tea sandwiches while navigating Center City streets strikes you as precarious, we’re on the same page.

Under the bus

Tea Around Town, which combines a bus tour with afternoon tea — the formal British custom of serving tea alongside a selection of dainty sandwiches and sweets sometime between lunch and dinner — launched in Philly in late April. Seats start at $85 per person for its “petit” experience (though you must book at least two), which includes two finger-sized sandwiches per person (the classics: cucumber and egg salad), a small serving of crudités , a smattering of half-dollar-sized sweets and scones, and four teas served in a floral-patterned souvenir tumbler. The “luxe” package, at $125 and up, gets you all of the above plus a nonalcoholic rosé, a mocktail, and an enhanced selection of teeny bites (smoked salmon crostini, a lobster-topped puff pastry, a lemon meringue tartlet).

Tea Around Town comes to Philly by way of TopView Sightseeing, which runs bus tours and cruises in and around Manhattan. TopView expanded to London last year, where the team encountered the tea bus experience, itself a merger of two quintessentially British things: double-decker buses and afternoon tea. The idea to combine the two seems to have originated in London in 2014, when the owners of Brigit’s Bakery purchased a vintage red Routemaster and converted it into a mobile tea room. A decade in , the bakery has added tea boat tours, holiday-themed tea bus tours, gin lovers’ tea bus tours, Peppa Pig tea bus tours, and Paddington Bear tea bus tours. Copycats followed, and there are now numerous services in London offering afternoon tea on a bus.

Charmed, TopView decided to import this experience to the States. Tea Around Town NYC debuted last summer, with a single bus circulating through Midtown; today, TopView operates 10 tea buses total, running 90-minute tours daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Senior director of sales Tom Weiner declined to provide any sales figures, but said that the tea bus concept’s success in New York encouraged it to expand, and Philly’s proximity, history, and culture made it the obvious next stop. Currently, TopView sends two tea buses down from New York each day, but the plan is to have buses stationed here in the near-future. (Philly’s prices are just a hair cheaper than New York’s.)

On an 80-degree day in late April, I decide to take Tea Around Town for a spin. There’s no chance of mistaking the bus for any of the other double-deckers driving down Market Street. Besides the cluster of women dressed to impress, the bus’ exterior is wrapped in an advertisement for itself, complete with a QR code and illustrations of a tea party. An attendant in a blush tuxedo vest, matching tie, and khakis draws back a velvet curtain when it’s time to board, directing us upstairs.

Rhinestone fabric and brass accents trim the skylights, and the windows are framed with creeping vines of fake roses in every shade of purple and pink. Instrumental pop music (à la Bridgerton ) plays over the air conditioning, which is blasting at full bore. Another pink-garbed attendant shows us to our table, set with pastel pink plates and bubblegum-colored napkins next to a three-tiered stand — the universal symbol of teatime. Don’t look for any porcelain teacups, though: At every pink-and-white leather seat, insulated tumblers sit snug in built-in cupholders.

Peering around the bus, nearly sold out on a Thursday afternoon, most people clearly opt for the luxe experience. The petit setup indeed looks petite in contrast — there’s more plate than there is stuff on the top tier. Still, the half-dollar-sized pairs of berry tarts, chocolate mouse cups, and macarons from Rittenhouse’s Hart of Catering are tasty enough.

While TopView specializes in tourism, Weiner said that the tea bus has resonated among locals, too — which was certainly true of my tour. When our guide, Destiny, polls the audience, all but one guest is local.

It quickly becomes obvious why everyone is there: for the ’gram. People snap selfies start to finish. As the bus rolls through Chinatown, a woman in a hot pink hat struts down the aisle in heels, livestreaming as she narrates her own experience, interviewing other guests, and putting tour guide Destiny slightly on edge. “Just be careful when the bus comes to a stop,” Destiny cautions.

The streets seem unfamiliar from the second-story vantage point as we lurch along our route — Fifth to Race to Second to Arch to 12th to Market to the Parkway. Destiny, also a Philadelphian, gives an impassioned reading of a script that details various landmarks, but nary a conversation quiets to listen to facts about the Betsy Ross House, the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Reading Terminal, and the Wanamaker Building.

Still, I snap to attention when Destiny suddenly breaks into song: “A-tisket, a-tasket, a brown and yellow basket …” As if tea on a moving bus wasn’t stimulating enough, Tea Around Town also folds in live music (that is still playing in my head days later). It arrives just as our “tea specialist,” Tom, delivers the first of four pours of tea. He fills the tumbler about a third full of a raspberry-pomegranate blend that is scalding. (The following teas — cherry blossom, citron green, and peppermint — are more temperate.) I leave the lid off the tumbler to let it cool; thankfully, the early parts of the tour route are mostly pothole-free.

It’s maybe a little strange that Tea Around Town Philly — a British tradition-turned-tourist experience seemingly reverse-engineered to be Instagrammable — is set in the birthplace of the American Revolution. But the dissonance of the whole thing smooths out by the time you hit the Parkway, about 45 minutes into the 75-minute drive.

By this time, Destiny and Tom have switched places, revealing that all Tea Around Town staffers can sing. (Tom also pulls from a jazz-leaning songbook, starting with “L-O-V-E.”) The selfies and streaming taper off and everyone seems to just enjoy having tea on a bus in midafternoon on a sunny day, with Philly’s most picturesque diagonal on full display.

Would I take Tea Around Town over any of Philly’s stationary tea shops or afternoon tea establishments ? Not for that price. But it is the only time I’ve ever wished for more traffic on the Parkway.
