The terrain of the Upper Canyon is more accessible for most tourists and is, therefore, busier. Exploring the Lower Canyon , in contrast, requires visitors to have some degree of endurance, as travelers must climb and descend several staircases. Canyon X is less popular, but equally beautiful.

How to Get to Antelope Canyon

Upper Canyon: Companies that provide tours of the Upper Canyon are all based in or near Page, Arizona (where Antelope Canyon is located), and provide transportation. Travelers will need to drive to Page, as there is no public transportation. Drivers coming from the north or south can take Route 89, drivers from the west can take Route 89A, and visitors commuting from the east can take Route 98.

Lower Canyon: Companies serving the Lower Canyon are located within walking distance of the canyon's entrance; therefore, they do not provide transportation to or from Page. Travelers on a Lower Canyon tour will need to drive to the tour operator's location. These companies are about 5 miles east of Page.

You cannot visit Antelope Canyon unless you sign up for an official tour. Only authorized tour companies are permitted onto the site. Spots fill up quickly, so be sure to make your reservations ahead of time. There are no self-guided hikes available within the canyon, and visitors must stay with their tour group at all times.

Tour companies' fees vary, but tickets (including entrance to the park) generally start at around $50 for 1.5-hour tours of Upper Antelope Canyon. Tours of Lower Antelope Canyon tend to be shorter (around an hour) and generally start around $40 per adult.

It may be one of the world’s most photographed places, but there’s a LOT to know before tackling Arizona’s famed Antelope Canyon hike. From which canyon to visit (Upper or Lower) to choosing a tour operator, we break down all the important details in this trail guide. 

The dreamy, twisting, light-filtering slot canyons of Antelope Canyon draw visitors to the Arizona-Utah border from all over the world. 

Understandably, just about everyone wants to do the Antelope Canyon hike. However, it’s not exactly straightforward . 

Both canyons are in Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park, part of the Navajo Nation, so access is limited and visitors are required to book a guided tour . Then there’s the important Upper vs. Lower Antelope Canyon decision.

This corner of the Southwest is also filled with other treasures like Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and Grand Staircase-Escalante, so you could easily spend a week exploring!

Antelope Canyon hike overview

Antelope Canyon is well worth the trip, but it’s extremely important to clarify some things and manage your expectations from the outset. 

First, the ONLY way to see Antelope Canyon—whether Upper or Lower—is on a guided tour . There is no such thing as a self-guided Antelope Canyon hike. Tours also book out months in advance, so you can’t simply show up and do the hike on a whim.

Speaking of upper or lower, you have to choose which canyon to visit . Different tour companies go to each of them, but not both, so unfortunately, there are no ‘combo’ tours. 

Upper vs Lower Antelope Canyon

Upper Antelope Canyon is far and away more famous and popular (and crowded!) than Lower. This is largely because those iconic beams of light that filter down through the canyon are a phenomenon only found here.

The upper canyon is also more accessible. Its entrance is at ground level, and the entire path is flat. On the other hand, visitors have to descend down into Lower Antelope Canyon through cracks in the ground, using a series of metal ladders and staircases . 

If anyone in your party has mobility issues, the upper canyon is a much better choice. Again, though, it’s also more crowded and expensive, and tours sell out well in advance. 

The Navajo National Parks & Recreation website maintains a list of approved Antelope Canyon tour companies. They all offer near-identical experiences, so we recommend booking one with the best availability for your dates. 

Keep in mind that booking the Upper Antelope Canyon hike doesn’t automatically guarantee you’ll see the light beams . They typically only occur for a few hours during mid-day in warmer months, so you have to choose the right time of year and day.

Honestly, both canyons are spectacular any time, all year. The shafts of light are especially great for photography, but you’ll get incredible pictures no matter when or where you visit. 

Things to know before you go

While Antelope Canyon is famous and bucket list-worthy for many reasons, there are several things to be aware of before heading out. 

If you go into the experience with these things in mind, you’ll have an amazing time!

Best time of year for the Antelope Canyon hike

If your heart is set on seeing the famed Antelope Canyon light beams in the upper canyon, aim to visit mid-day, spring through fall . 

Because the sun has to be directly overhead to create the right conditions, you want a clear, sunny day. The optimal tour times are 10:30-1:30 . 

For anyone visiting the lower canyon or whose priority isn’t the light shafts, plan your Antelope Canyon hike around the mildest weather and least crowded times. 

There’s honestly no ‘low’ season, but winter is slightly less busy. Also, early morning and evening tours tend to be a bit less popular year-round . These times are typically a few dollars cheaper, also. 

How long does it take to hike Antelope Canyon?

Plan on about two hours total for the Antelope Canyon hike, whether you visit the upper or lower canyon. This includes drive time and 1-1.5 hours at the canyon itself. 

How difficult is the Antelope Canyon hike?

Both Antelope Canyon hikes are easy, but Upper Antelope Canyon is even easier . The entire walk is level, and you walk right into the mouth of the slot canyon at ground level. 

At Lower Antelope Canyon, you’ll descend some stairs to get below ground, and there are some boulders and other uneven terrain to navigate. It’s still solidly on the easy side, but slightly more challenging than the upper canyon. Lower is also not suitable for anyone with mobility concerns. 

Obtaining a permit for your Antelope Canyon hike

You technically need an $8 entry permit to visit Antelope Canyon, but all approved outfitters include this in their guided tours, so you don’t have to get anything extra. 

Tour prices vary from about $85-120 per person for the upper canyon, while Lower Antelope Canyon tours start at $55. In both cases, guides typically offer a small discount on the earliest and latest tours of the day.

Note that ultra-popular mid-day tours of Upper Antelope Canyon are almost always priced higher, and they book out several months in advance. 

Photographing Antelope Canyon

The Antelope Canyon hike is much more a photo op. Depending on your specific tour, you may barely go into the canyon, wait your turn in line to snap photos, then go back the way you came. Even on longer tours, there are enough stops that it doesn’t feel like hiking.

Only a handful of companies offer tours, but they all run multiple times a day, year-round, so Antelope Canyon gets CROWDED . This is one of the biggest surprises for first-time visitors (especially since all the photos make it look like the canyon is empty!). 

As many as eight groups may be inside at once, but the outfitters do a great job managing the traffic flow. They devised a system where groups walk ahead of one another at timed intervals, so everyone has a chance to get photos without others in the background.

With that said, you’ll have an extremely limited amount of time to snap pictures. Get your camera settings dialed in ahead of time, and abandon the idea that you’ll be able to switch lenses. Also, you cannot bring tripods or selfie sticks inside.

The crowds and waiting can be frustrating, but think about what a zoo the canyon would be if it weren’t managed! 

Plus, the guides know Antelope Canyon better than anyone—they know the most unique rock formations, exactly where to stand, and tips for getting epic photos. They usually even help stage coveted photos, like sand streaming down the canyon walls.

All tour operators have guests meet at their office, either in Page, AZ, or at the entrance to the tribal park. Arrive early and factor in time to go over expectations and sign waivers. 

Regardless of whether you visit the upper or lower canyon, you’ll take private dirt and sand roads to get there . You may even drive directly through a sandy wash. Bring a face mask or gaiter to minimize how much sand gets into your nose and mouth. 

Hiking to Upper Antelope Canyon

Your guide will drive everyone into the Navajo Tribal Park in an off-road vehicle. After the 2-mile drive through a riverbed, you’ll be dropped off at the mouth of the canyon. It’s just an easy, flat 0.3-mile walk from here.

Lower Antelope Canyon hike

Unlike upper canyon tours, guests drive themselves to the Lower Antelope Canyon and walk . There is no driving portion of the tour. 

For the Lower Antelope Canyon hike, there’s a slightly longer 0.5-mile walk involved and the canyon entrance is underground . 

You’ll climb up and down a handful of staircases, and the lower canyon is also much narrower inside. It’s still not difficult or technical, but it isn’t quite as easy as Upper Antelope Canyon. Many people call Lower the “fun” canyon. 

• Manage your expectations. Our number one tip for making the most of your Antelope Canyon visit is to be realistic about what to expect. Go in knowing it will be crowded, and that you may not see the elusive beams of light.
• Double-check the timezone. Arizona doesn’t observe Daylight Savings Time, but the Navajo Nation does. Most Antelope Canyon tours depart from Page, in Arizona time, but it’s a good idea to verify the correct meeting time with your tour operator. 
• Don’t bring a bag or tripod. They’re generally prohibited—even small belt bags—to free up as much room in the canyon as possible. Check your tour company’s FAQs to verify exact restrictions. 
• DO bring your camera, water, and a good hat. Sand is everywhere in Antelope Canyon, and more continuously drifts in from the top. Wear a hat and put your camera around your neck, but bring a case to protect it from tiny granules of sand. 
• Look up! With the canyon being perpetually crowded, you have to get a bit creative to get amazing photos. One way to do that is by pointing your camera up toward the sky. 
• Wear a gaiter or mask for the drive to the canyon. The roads are sandy, and most outfitter vehicles are open-air, like Jeeps. Unless you enjoy the taste of sand, you’ll want some sort of face protection.
• Bring cash to tip your tour guide. This isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly encouraged and certainly appreciated. $10-20 per couple/group is appropriate, assuming you’re happy with your guide.
• Page makes a perfect basecamp. It’s a small city, but caters to tourists, so you’ll find tons of restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, gas stations, and a Wal-Mart. 

Where to camp near Antelope Canyon

One of the best things about the Southwest is the abundance of public land. Lots of public land means lots of epic camping opportunities . 

Antelope Canyon is near the enormous Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and ‘Arizona Strip’ BLM land (well over one million acres!), so there’s a TON of dispersed camping . 

Camp on a ledge overlooking Lake Powell, at a sandy beach along the Colorado River, or in the middle of the desert!

Can I go to Antelope Canyon without a Permit?

No, you cannot go to Antelope Canyon without a permit. 

If you were initially planning on hiking Antelope Canyon on your own, you may have to rethink your plans. Antelope Canyon is located on Navajo land and the canyon is a protected area.

The area is run by The Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation Department which requires visitors to have a permit and take a guided tour to access the canyons. 

The reason for the permits & guided tours is to help protect the canyon for future generations, ensure that the sacred lands are safe from damage as well as protect the safety of visitors doing Antelope Canyon hiking.

Hiking in Antelope Canyon

The canyon is divided into different sections with the most popular areas being Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon. However, there are 7 different canyons you can explore that are all part of the Antelope Canyon system.

1. Hiking Upper Antelope Canyon Trail

The Upper Antelope Canyon hike is the most popular of the canyons for visitors, but both the upper and lower sections of the canyon offer stunning views and photographic opportunities.

When you arrive at the ticket office, you’ll then board a shuttle that will take you to the entrance of the canyon. This is where you’ll meet your Navajo guide who will take you through the canyon.

Along this trail, you’ll see a multitude of red and orange curved sandstone walls, which are illuminated and enhanced on a sunny day.

It’s best to hike Upper Canyon early in the day to avoid the crowds and to get the best lighting for photography.

If you’re interested in seeing the iconic light beams that you can only see in Upper Antelope, you’ll want to visit towards late spring through early fall and around mid-day.

2. Hiking Lower Antelope Canyon Trail 

• Distance: 1.1 Miles
• Elevation Gain: 115 ft
• Difficulty: Moderate

The main difference between the Lower Antelope Canyon hike and Upper is that Lower Antelope Canyon is a much deeper section of the canyon.

The passages along the Antelope Lower canyon hike are narrow. You’ll be able to see the signature reds and oranges of the smooth sandstone walls making this a photographer’s dream. 

Although this is a relatively easy trail to navigate, some sections of the canyon may be more challenging for some people. There are eight ladders and staircases throughout the entire hike, and some are rather steep.

It is important to be aware of your footing and to watch for loose rocks, as the stairs can be slippery, especially if you’re not wearing proper hiking shoes.

Depending on your level of mobility, this may be a deciding factor on whether you’ll be able to do this trial or not.

Because Lower Antelope Canyon is a super deep slot canyon, you won’t see the light beams at any time of the day or year. It’s best to visit early in the day to avoid crowds and for the best lighting.

3. Hiking Canyon X Trail

• Elevation Gain: 2 ft

If the idea of hiking at Antelope Canyon with a bunch of other people doesn’t sound appealing then hiking Canyon X is a fantastic alternative option.

Canyon X is a far less visited canyon than the Upper or Lower Antelope. Even though it’s not as popular, it is still beautiful. It’s the deepest of the 3 canyons and still has stunning curved slot canyon walls with deep oranges and reds swirling around.

You won’t be able to see light beams at Canyon X. It’s better to visit in the early morning or late afternoon, or around golden hour as this will create the most stunning visuals and vibrant colors of the canyon walls.

4. Hiking Secret Antelope Canyon Trail

• Distance: 0.5 Miles
• Elevation Gain: 0

Secret Canyon, also known as Horseshoe Bend Slot Canyon due to its close proximity to the Horseshoe Bend Overlook, is another stunning slot canyon.

Similar to Canyon X, Secret Antelope is another lesser-known and lesser-visited part of Antelope Canyon. It still features the signature curves, narrow pathways, and reddy orange swirls, minus the crowds. 

If you’re looking for a less rushed alternative to Antelope Canyon, then this is it. Because the guides aren’t trying to usher so many visitors through, you’ll get plenty of time to take photos and appreciate the atmosphere. 

Like the others, Secret Canyon can only be visited as part of a guided tour, and the tours are capped at 25 people which gives plenty of opportunity to get photos without others in them. 

The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon to make the most of the subtle lighting. Also, the likelihood of meeting anyone else during the earlier tour of the day is pretty slim, so you’ll be able to capture as many tourist-free photos as you like.

5. Hiking Rattlesnake Canyon Trail

• Distance: 0.25 Mile
• Elevation Gain : 30 ft

Rattlesnake Canyon Trail is another great option with beautiful canyon walls, high cliffs, and great rock formations.

The textured sandstone has beautiful waves of red and orange swirls making this a great choice for photographers or anyone who is interested in the beautiful scenery.

Depending on the time of day you visit or the season, the rocks can appear a golden yellow hue all the way to a deep red color.

If you plan on visiting Rattlesnake Canyon, it’s best to visit in spring or winter to make the most of the more subtle sunlight. If you’re visiting in the summer months, then it is best to start early in the morning to take advantage of the shade.

6. Hiking Owl Canyon Trail

• Distance: 3.3 Miles
• Elevation Gain: 472 ft
• Difficulty: Moderately challenging
• Approximate Tour Time: 1.5 hr

The Owl Canyon trail is also known as White Owl Canyon. The trail gets its name from the white owls that nest on the cliffs, keep your eyes peeled for signs of the white owl’s nests, you’ll spot them on inaccessible ledges.

Despite its small size, the canyon contains several short sections of narrows, some are up to 100 feet deep. Unlike the familiar reds and oranges seen at Antelope Canyon, the majority of the rocks here are made of greyish-brown rock layers.

However, there are a few pretty parts of the canyon where you’ll find colorful walls and patterns in the rocks. There’s also a section where you’ll see some of the signature red sandstone as well as some interesting rock formations like the overhangs that sit alongside the trail. 

Because of the abundance of overhangs along the trail, take note of the trailhead notice at the start where it warns of loose rocks. The best time to hike this trail is in the spring or fall. Even though the deep walls provide shade for most of the day, the summer temperatures can still be unbearable. 

7. Hiking Mountain Sheep Canyon Trail

• Distance: 1.5 miles
• Elevation Gain: 100 ft

If you’re after another lesser-known slot canyon in Antelope check out Mountain Sheep canyon. The walls also have a more jagged appearance here, so they don’t have that smooth wave-like look that the smoother walls of places like Lower and Upper canyon have. 

As you can imagine, the name ‘Mountain Sheep’ reflects how this canyon looks. It’s certainly got a more rugged feel to it which lends to a more strenuous hike than the other slot canyons we’ve mentioned in this list. 

Along the route, there are some scaling ladders, so this isn’t the best trail for anyone with mobility issues. Also, to get to the entrance of Mountain Sheep Canyon, you’ll need to take the bumpy ride in a suitable vehicle with your Navajo guide to get to the trailhead. 

Because the canyon isn’t as classically pretty as some of the others and it’s more difficult to get to it, this makes the crowds almost down to zero. It’s also a great for anyone looking for more of an adventure!

What To Pack When Hiking Antelope Canyon

When packing for a hike at Antelope Canyon, it’s important to be prepared for the challenging terrain and the harsh desert environment. Here’s a list of essential items to pack for your hiking Antelope Canyon AZ adventure: 

• Water – Because Antelope Canyon is surrounded by desert, the air can be extremely dry, even if it’s not particularly hot. You’ll need plenty of water to stay hydrated even on cold days. We advise bringing at least one liter of water per person.
• Sun protection –  Even though you’re in a canyon and sometimes it’s shaded, it’s a good idea to wear sun protection. Bring a wide-brimmed hat, and wear long sleeves and pants. Also, pack a pair of sunglasses and sunscreen.
• Snacks – If you tend to get hungry easily then bring high-energy snacks such as trail mix or energy bars. If your snack has any packaging, be sure to carry it back out with you. 
• Proper shoes – Make sure you’re wearing shoes with good grip and traction with adequate foot and ankle support. 
• Camera – Don’t forget a camera to capture the stunning views
• Wind and waterproof jacket – Even on warm days, the weather can quickly change, so pack a lightweight jacket for this.

There are several things that you can not take into the slot canyons. This is to protect the canyons. You will have to leave these items either in your car or at the ticket office. 

• Bags of any size – you are not allowed to take any type of back into the canyon with you. This includes backpacks, and purses as well as camel packs, fanny packs, wristlets, clear bags, and large camera bags
• Drones and professional video recording equipment
• Tripods , monopods, or selfie sticks
• Strollers or anything on wheels
• Metal-framed baby carriers

How To Get To Page, AZ

If you’re planning to do an Antelope Canyon hike in Arizonia, you’re probably wondering what’s the best way to get there. A lot of this will depend on where you’re starting.

If you’re looking for the closest airport to Antelope Canyon , we would recommend flying into Las Vegas Airport. LAS often has the best connections and cheapest flights.

A lot of people then make visiting Antelope Canyon part of a road trip from Las Vegas and tie in some other great monuments or National Parks along the way. 

Once you’re in Page, it’s relatively easy to find several tour companies that offer guided tours of the canyon, however, during peak season, we advise booking any tours in advance as they do sell out.

Best Time to Hike Antelope Canyon

Although you can plan your Antelope Canyon hike for any time of year, some months are better than others. 

The best time to hike Antelope Canyon is during the spring and fall months. During these seasons, temperatures are mild and the canyon looks beautiful in the subtle light as opposed to the harsh intensity of summer. It’s also a great time to go camping near Antelope Canyon .

Try to play your hike during the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest point. This is when light beams shine down and illuminate the canyons making them glow in vibrant shades of red and orange. 

Because spring and fall are the best months to visit, it’s also the most popular time, so we suggest booking your tour in advance to ensure you get a ticket. If possible try to visit the canyon on a weekday as these tend to be a little quieter than the weekends.

The tour was a personalized event, where our tour guide took time to explain the Navajo culture and beliefs and how they used the local plants and herbs. Very educational and interesting. The three slot canyons were beautiful with very interesting structures. The hike was with moderate difficulty. I am not very athletic and struggled a little towards the end. But my guide was patient and never let me feel rushed or uncomfortable.

We (4 adults) did the full Wind Pebble Canyon hike with Jean as our guide. Everything was better than we expected! Jean taught us so much about desert plants and their uses as well as about Navajo history, life and culture. The canyons were amazing and we really enjoyed the fact that there were no crowds to contend with and the hike was so peaceful and unhurried. We would definitely recommend this tour company.

We chose the Rams Head tour and loved it! We had 5 kids ranging from 6 to 12 who have all had lots of hiking experience before. The hike was fun and involved cable assists and ladders. The main difference is that this is on their family land and we were the only ones in the entire canyon. No crowds at all. It was so much fun, amazing sights, and great guides (Mel and Jean). Highly recommend to anyone wanting to avoid the crowds and have a good hike too.

Such a great morning exploring a couple of canyons on the land with Natasha. She was so friendly and a wealth of information. I had so much fun chatting with her and learning about the land, the city, and the Navajo culture. Definitely a highlight of my trip. I was happy to have done the early morning hike. It was the perfect temperature too.

Expected Distance Paddled and Requirements:

The Antelope Slot Canyon Hike typically takes a 1-hour round trip ( depending on the lake's water level ) and is approximately a total distance of 1 mile (1.6km). The terrain on the hike is a mixture of rock and sand and is very flat. There will be ample opportunities to rest and take photos.

The paddling is typically 5 miles(10km) round-trip ( depending on the water level ).

Wavy conditions are possible on the 2nd half of this tour.

This tour is suitable for those with all levels of physical fitness.

Participants must have enough upper body strength to re-enter a capsized kayak with assistance from our tour guides; this is especially important in the spring and late fall when the water is cold. The route is along steep canyon walls, so getting out of the water on shore is usually very difficult.

All experience levels, from beginner to advanced, will have a great time on our trips:

We will use double kayaks on all trips.

For this tour, we use sit-on-top kayaks.

On this tour, your feet will get wet, sandy, and possibly muddy. There is some muck at the canyon's end, where you get out of the kayaks. Wear shoes or sports sandals. You can get wet.

From June - October, tours include time for a swim.

During July through mid-September, the possibility of flash floods exists. If morning rain is in the forecast, which is generally very uncommon, the guide may shorten hiking the Antelope Canyon portion of the tour for safety reasons.

There are simple bathroom facilities in the parking lot. Dry Bags are available for rent upon availability.

JOIN US FOR ANTELOPE CANYON TOURS

This tour offers you a fully guided walk into the Upper Antelope Canyon. Guided tours are required to visit this gem, so don’t miss this opportunity!

There is plenty of time for everyone to take photos on this tour and also enough time for you to experience the canyon. Check-in time is 30 minutes prior to tour time. From our office, we will then transport you to the canyon in our tour trucks [ Click here for example ] (your vehicle stays at our office location), the drive to the Antelope canyon is 20 minutes, the ride out is mildly bumpy – if the temps deep below freezing we could use our enclosed vans.

Once we arrive at the canyon, you will be guided through the iconic sandstone walls, shaped by years and years of water and wind. Our tour guide will show you places through the canyon to take memorable photos, tell you some history of the canyon, and some local history. The walk through the canyon is a good 1/4 mile, once we’ve reached the end of the canyon we will then proceed to hike around the canyon – this hike does involve soft sand, stairs, and ramps, best to wear closed-toe shoes. With the new hike we’re walking a total of 3/4’s of a mile. We will be in the elements so be prepared for hot summers (temps can reach 100F+) or cold winters, dress for the weather!! We are OPEN YEAR-ROUND . | 7 days a week.

Tours run 100mins from start to finish, 40 mins of which is driving time to and from (20mins each way), roughly an hour on-site – transportation to and from the canyon is provided by us, with our authorized tour vehicle (private vehicles not allowed). With the additional hike the tours have been running a little longer – please devote 135 minutes from check-in to completion of the tour. Due to hike up and over the tour times have been running a tad bit longer, please plan for this.

Advance reservations are required , we can sell out far in advance. Reserve your Antelope Canyon tours online today. Sorry, but we do not maintain a waitlist , keep checking the calendar to see if something opens up.

The colors in the canyon vary throughout the year with a different glow in different parts of the canyon. In winter months the 7:50 am tour time does offer dimmer conditions, due to the shorter days, however, there is still a nice glow inside the canyon, regardless the experience is still Great!

We do offer tours year-round – the colors inside the canyon are still there during the winter months – it’s just a matter of knowing your camera – most are under the impression you “have” to be in the canyon at a particular time – in our opinion – this is not true – the canyon is beautiful at all tour time – they are all unique.

ORIGINAL DEPARTURE TIMES: *7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., & 3:30 p.m. Tours are offered year-round, except for the *7:00 a.m. tour, which is only offered during Spring & Summer seasons.

• Do not bring: Selfie sticks, tripods, strollers, or drones. Sorry, but no pets or service animals (rules about animals placed by the Navajo Nation Government).
• No Bags on tour: No backpacks, no purses, no fanny-packs (waist bags) – UNLESS they are CLEAR, transparent bags with all items visible – You cannot put an opaque bag inside a clear bag… No weapons of any kind, no drugs, and no alcohol – do not bring the ashes of your past loved ones.
• Dusty conditions: We advise you to dress your camera in a rain jacket (not for actual rain) to avoid the falling sand that is thrown in the canyon. Changing your lens in the canyon is at your own risk – we are not responsible for damaged cameras.
• Weather: Please check out the expected weather at least 2 or 3 days before arrival, and be prepared for weather that can be either cold or hot. Come with layers. Bring plenty of water – small hydration packs are best.
• There are No Restrooms: On tour, we do have a restroom in our office, but for nearly 2 hours you will not have access to a bathroom.
• Children: We do not have age restrictions, we have children of all ages go on tour every day. When booking, if you are unable to add a child between 0-7 years old it is because we have reached the carrying capacity for children in car seats. Our truck design limits the number of children requiring car seats, we cannot accommodate all families needing space for car seats. Note: we DO NOT supply car seats, you must bring your own
• Strict Passenger Limits: Please book the exact number of persons joining the tour, including children of all ages, yes, even babies have to have a ticket. If you arrive in our office needing seats for more people, we will not be able to squeeze them on tour. Be sure to book far in advance, as we do sell out. With Daily passenger limits, we cannot add more seats to a tour that does not have enough seats. Remember, babies need a confirmed ticket, we do not allow lap children, everyone counts toward the passenger limit.
• NEW HIKE INVOLVED , we now have a one-way path on tour, if you’ve been on tour before the walk is no longer easy. EVERYONE joining the tour has to be able to complete the hike (there are no exceptions). To get a better idea of the hike involved, scroll down to the bottom of this page and watch our video. If you’ve had recent surgery on your knees, hips, or back you may want to reconsider this tour – the hike up and over has an elevation change of 200 ft with an incline of 20 degrees going uphill – there are stairs involved, which leads us to say this tour is not wheelchair accessible – this hike up and over must be completed in less than 15 minutes . In total, the walk from start to finish is under a mile. Random Fact: Our average elevation is 4000 feet above sea level.
• Photographic Tours for professional photographers are no longer available, by order of the Navajo Nation 2019 was the last of the photographic tours to Upper Antelope Canyon. Nor are we able to accommodate photo shoots inside the canyon, commercial use photography/productions are simply not allowed right now, it’s unknown if we will ever be able to conduct such tours. Plenty of great photos can be taken on the Sightseer’s Tour, keep in mind it’s all hand-held photography now, tripods and monopods are not allowed on tour anymore.

READ ALL DETAILS ABOUT THE CANCELLATION POLICY:

A full refund is available if the cancellation occurs 48+ hours PRIOR to the DAY that you booked for, not within 48hrs of the time you booked (example you book the day before and want to cancel – you will Not get a full refund). Contact us by email or phone to cancel your booking. However, customers will receive a full refund* in the event of “the operator” cancelling tours due to extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Health and well being of everyone: If you or someone in your group has flu like symptoms, or signs of C-19 [ Click Here ] symptoms, let us know, the sooner we know the better chance you might get a partial refund (restocking fee will apply). By not telling us in advance we will consider it as a no-show with no Refund; best to notify us by email. Finally, those showing symptoms of C-19 and attempting to join the tour will have their temperature taken, if their temp is 100.4 degree F or greater the entire group will not be allowed on tour and there will be no refund.

If you miss your tour there are NO Refunds . In addition, showing up at our office, at time of check-in and notifying us someone in your party did not make it, with no prior acknowledgement, will result in no refund. Payments cannot be transferred to another date. Be sure to arrive early or even extra early – our address works on all GPS devices. A reduction of passengers in your booking will not be a full refund: we will refund the tour cost but the booking fees are non-refundable (varies 2.20-8.33%) . Only a complete cancellation yields a full refund*. To avoid confusion with your credit card transactions we recommend you do not modify and or cancel your booking within 48hrs of time of booking.

We are not liable for mistakes made with online bookings (e.g. wrong date, not knowing our tours are into the Upper Antelope Canyon ). There is no need to type your credit card details to us if you cancel, if anything you could provide the last 4 numbers if you wish but Not all the numbers.

*full refunds are only available if we are refunding the same card used for booking (if your card is compromised and you’ve been given a new card – the refund will still get to you). If you used a prepaid card that you no longer have or if you want to be refunded to a different card card e.g. from Visa to Amex – the conditions for refund are different – we would only be able to refund 80% of the charge. all refunds take up to 45 days. if you have a receipt from another Lake Powell Navajo Tribal park showing you already paid the park fee, a refund could be available – if a receipt with matching dates is given to us – not an email confirmation – these refunds will not be granted in advance, only on the day of – No refunds if you forget or do not have a copy of the receipt for us.

Please understand and prepare yourself for any sudden cancellations, If cases of C-19 spike on or off the Navajo Reservation there’s a very good chance the Navajo Nation Government might shut down the canyon for an unknown period of time. If this happens we will notify you as soon as possible and apologies in advance for altering your vacation.

The tour exceeded our expectations. It was better than seeing the pictures on the internet. Antonio, the guide, was knowledgeable and supportive. My wife and I were at the upper end of the age and weight scale, AND with a bum knee, and we did it just fine (we huffed and puffed a bit on the steps...but we did it...and had plenty of opportunities to stop, look about, take pictures, and catch our breath).

we loved the tour, we had the best guide " BEN" in the whole world, Ben gave us lot of interesting information, he was very patient and i think he was better than all the tour guides. Bocaue one group was behind us and one was front of us, but he was the only one i saw was very friendly and he took our pictures, he set up all of our phone, we were group of 12 ppl, he took every one of our pictures, greeted us in our language. Tour was good but he made it the BEST.

A must see in Page! Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. I would recommend not using the shuttle service, the waiting area is easy to drive to and you won’t have to sit around for long periods of time waiting for your driver.

The lower canyon tour is amazing! If you are able to hike it, I would suggest that one. Our tour guide Keanu was absolutely the best. Malcom also provided so much information. Keanu took the time to take photos for everyone in our group. As a photographer I can tell you, trust him with your phone. You will not be disappointed. The entire staff is polite and seems to be very proud of their natural wonder. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Great tour and friendly guides, quick 1h15 min tour right from the parking lot. Small Groups of 15 people but be prepared to wait. Canyon is narrow so single file is required. Marvin and Leslie were top notch guides and I had an amazing time at the lower antelope Grand Canyon. I thought the hike was going to be longer and there was more time left but for some reason it was relatively short. The amount of stops and breaks was sufficient and vegetarian food was alright. I enjoyed the movies they played throughout the ride as well as the stories Marvin shared. My group was really great and we made it back to Vegas on time.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Dena was our guide and she helped us take great photos and to experience the beauty and history of the canyon.

Lower Antelope Canyon was an amazing experience. Our guide Jacob was awesome and not only told us all the stories of the canyon, but also pointed out the best photo shots and items of interest. He even played the music flute for us in the canyon. Our personal photos look like those on your website, which to capture the same image ourselves was not only fantastic but incredible. This was an experience we have been wanting to do for five years and so glad we finally did. Our driver/guide Rib was amazing. Incredibly informative and patient. Chris at Monument Valley and Muskogee at the canyon were also excellent. Only downside was we were taken unawares at how strenuous the climbing in the lower antelope canyon was. It was worth it, but at times was somewhat frightening. Myako couldn’t have been more helpful and patient.

Stop thinking and BOOK THIS TOUR!! Kyle was our guide and he was AMAZING! He showed us on his phone when the canyon had flooded, provided us with insight about the area and the Navajo, and played the Navajo flute for us. He also gave the best tips about photo taking and showed us the best place to take photos. He’s a genius! There was also a hoop dancer sharing his craft while we waited for the tour to begin. There was also a gift shop/snack bar! Be advised: they have a strict no bag policy; I saw some people arguing this point. It’s really no big deal, just plan ahead.

We had absolutely fabulous time at animal Canyon. Our guide, Eder, was amazing, and showed us how to get the best photos in the canyon. We almost didn’t go here on our two-week road trip, but some friends of ours suggested it and we are so glad we went out of our way to come here. One of the highlights of our trips.

Our guide, Tony, was amazing. He was very informative and gave us lots of information. He took time to help us set our camera settings for the best pictures and he even took pictures of us. All of our pictures turned out amazing. It is definitely worth the trip to see the lower canyon and I just can't say enough good things about our experience it was wonderful.

This is a long day but I have to give credit to the staff for making it all happen successfully and safely. From the early start to the late finish the staff politely kept us on time so we wouldn't miss our canyon walks while providing complimentary water, energy bars and later a turkey (or veg) sandwich. That said, what really kept me going was the humor and motivational steers from our host so a big thank you to the crew!

We have been in the lower antelope 7:45 tour and it was beautiful. Huge credit to our guide Nate who knows every corner of the Canyon, is really friendly and funny and knows how to take the perfect picture in every single step. Luckily we booked the tour a couple of days before and managed to get a couple of spots for canyon X. The driver Wayne was great, very entertaining and did his best to ensure we had maximum time at Horseshoe and the Canyon. He gave a lot of interesting facts about vegas, places on the way and the canyons. He was very honest, friendly and funny. We also had an amazing guide at canyon X (Marco). He was patient with us, never rushed us and most importantly, he helped us get amazing pics that looked like a professional photographer took them. He recommended the best spots to take pics and even changed the settings on our phones for the best effects and took them for us at times. I wholeheartedly recommend the tour, it was a fantastic experience and I’m so glad I got to experience and see it in my lifetime. My only comment would be, for the high price and taking into account we only have two very short stop times/rest breaks, food or a lunch should have been included. We left at 5.30am and arrived back at 8pm. In the approx 5hrs on the way there, we only had 1x 20/25mins rest stop to use the bathroom and get food with only one very slow, understaffed, average food option available. There were much better places with more food options we could have stopped at for the break. The 20/25mins stop on the way back was MUCH better, great selection of food choices and a lot more staff around to help.

The trip was great, had a lot of fun. Leo and Marvin were great as well. Would recommend. Make sure you are on time though, they can be strict about it.

We are sorry! Due to the wide range of people that go into the canyon we don’t allow any Service animals or Pets to go on tour. We also do not have any leashing area you can leave your pet. Please make arrangements before booking your tour.

“Bad Indian” profiles the Tadytin Family and its history with the federal boarding schools. The documentary uncovers the countless atrocities against Indigenous populations that have remained buried by the passage of time.

Hastiin Tadidinii (known as the Corn Pollen Man), the great-grandfather of the current owner of Taadidiin Tours was an early victim of the boarding school system, but his story is not yet part of the federal investigation on Native American boarding schools. The documentary traces back to the 1800s and explores Tadidinii’s struggles with the federal government, including his murder as the federal government forcibly transported his children to a federally funded boarding school.

“Bad Indian” was directed by Joe Raffa, a frequent collaborator of production company Point in Time Studios. He is best known for his projects “Downeast” starring Greg Finley and Kirk Fox, and “Dark Harbor” starring Joel McHale. Through the compelling lens of the Tadytin Family, Bad Indian courageously exposes the harrowing legacy of federal boarding schools, shedding light on the unspoken horrors endured by Indigenous communities,” said Raffa. “I’m honored to have been a part of this poignant documentary that unveils a powerful narrative of resilience and unearths the painful truths hidden beneath the weight of history.

Antelope X Canyon is a different part of Antelope Canyon that is less touristy and has only been open for a few years. We recently went on a canyon tour of Deer Canyon with Antelope Canyon Tours , and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From start to finish, the tour exceeded all of our expectations. Our guide, Ron, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the beauty and culture of the canyon with us. Throughout the tour, Ron provided fascinating insights into the Navajo culture, enriching our understanding of the area's history and significance. His expertise truly enhanced the experience and made it so much more meaningful. Exploring the canyon itself was a breathtaking adventure. The natural beauty surrounding us was simply awe-inspiring, and being able to witness it firsthand was a privilege. So grateful to have found this gem. The tour was very private as if you had the canyons all to yourself. This was quite the opposite experience I had with Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon tour 3 years ago. While Dixie's is a solid tour company and Lower Antelope Canyon is beautiful, you're on a strict schedule, there's way more people, and you have to match the pace of the tour guide and your group. This company is much more laid back and our awesome guide, Wallace, let us take our time and explore at our own pace. Couldn't recommend this place enough for those looking to visit Antelope Canyon in a more private setting.

My family and I were so elated after going on this tour with Ron. Morning of our tour we were sure that it would get canceled due to high winds and the sand blowing so violently in Page. However, Ron did not want to dishearten us, our have our trip be uneventful so he had a backup plan of Deer Canyon. Let me say things work in mysterious ways as I had been reading that Antelope Canyon tours are congested, and the high tourist traffic makes it hard to enjoy the beauty of the surroundin gs. On this tour it was two families, so it was very peaceful and private. Ron drove us out to Deer Canyon, the hike itself was one hour. There were stairscases leading down 200ft into the canyon. The hike was gorgeous, and Ron gave us such informative insight about the Navajo land, plants and animals. The ladders leading out of the canyon were quite an adventure for the kids. They ladders and staircases were constructed by a retired Navajo iron worker, such amazing work! We are so greatful that we got to do such a private tour of a private canyon with such an amazing tour guide!

My wife, two teenage sons (17 yrs, 15 yrs), and I came here in early April 2023 and booked a tour after reading the Yelp reviews. It was a super experience! As first-time visitors, we chose the standard 2 hour Ligai Si'Anii canyon tour. It's a great introduction to the landscape - but you may want to consider a longer tour if you are an avid hiker or want to see more than 2 slot canyons. First, I liked that this is local Navajo family-run business on their private land. Email communication was easy and professional. Second, the tour gives each small to medium-sized group plenty of time to take pictures, relax, or ask questions. Third, the main slot canyon ("tree stump") has a spectacular spot where the acoustics are superb. The experience of looking up from a slot canyon is peaceful. By the way, Ligai Si'Anii is translates as "white cone" which refers to the many rock formations in the local area. Overall, visiting the slot canyons is a "must-do" experience in Page, AZ. You'll also be helping to give a boost to the local economy and enjoy some the natural splendor in this remarkable pocket of northern Arizona!

One of the highlights of our recent trip to Sedona. Went to Deer canyon, and it was worth every penny. Small groups, great guides, plenty of time to take pics, never felt rushed. And the canyon is incredibly beautiful.

This was a unique, must do experience if you're coming to Arizona! The tour team was so helpful from the moment I booked the trip. Our tour guide, Mike, was passionate about the information he shared. He also made sure we got the perfect pictures. The canyons were amazing. The views were iconic!

The tour of Deer Canyon was awesome and more than we expected! Absolutely stunning views! Tristian, our tour guide was great! We would totally recommend this tour!

Our family felt very fortunate to be able to explore the canyons on Navajo lands. We went on the afternoon trip, which allowed for some fantastic lighting. Wally was a great storyteller and also helped us with our photography - we were not rushed at all. We would recommend to anyone.

If you want an authentic experience, with awe-inspiring sights and a little adventure, then we highly recommend this tour. My family visited Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Hoover Dam, and this was everyone's favorite experience. That says a lot, because we enjoyed every one of these outings! There are no enormous queues and overcrowded tours. This is personal, meaningful and touching. The truck ride to the site is a bumpy blast; the staircase is thrilling, but doable (there was a 7-year old and a set of grandparents on our tour and they all did it no problem); and a couple passage ways are very tight, so don't bring an oversized backpack). The people running the tour are so kind and friendly. Even the dog, Cheesy, at the check in was memorable. This off-the beaten path was absolutely the right choice!

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

On every station there is cashier and machines (you can switch it to English). Cards and cash are accepted. 1 trip - 55 RUB 2 trips - 110 RUB

Tickets for 60 trips and day passes are available only at the cashier's.

The cheapest way to travel is buying Troyka card . It is a plastic card you can top up for any amount at the machine or at the ticket office. With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB. You can get it back returning the card to the cashier.

One turnstile at every station accept PayPass and payments with phones. It has a sticker with the logos and located next to the security's cabin.

GETTING ORIENTED

At the platfrom you will see one of these signs.

It indicates the line you are at now (line 6), shows the direction train run and the final stations. Numbers below there are of those lines you can change from this line.

In trains, stations are announced in Russian and English. In newer trains there are also visual indication of there you are on the line.

To change lines look for these signs. This one shows the way to line 2.
