The Weeknd Pushes 2022 Tour, Plots Move From Arenas to Stadiums

  • By Daniel Kreps

Daniel Kreps

UPDATE (10/18) : The Weeknd is shifting around his 2022 tour plans, pushing back the start of the trek to next summer and moving his gigs from arenas to stadiums. In a statement, the Weeknd said, “Due to constraints of arenas and the demand for more shows I want to do something bigger and special for you which requires stadiums.” Ticket holders will be refunded automatically, and they’ll also get priority to buy tickets for the new shows when they’re announced. Dates will be detailed soon.

Ahead of the Weekend’s Super Bowl LV halftime show performance , the singer has announced his newly rescheduled After Hours World Tour dates — now set for 2022 — as well as a new greatest hits compilation.

After originally being set for 2020 and then postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the North American leg of the After Hours World Tour will now embark on January 14th, 2022 — almost two years after the hit album’s release — with two shows in Vancouver, British Columbia, and conclude May 1st in Tacoma, Washington.

In addition to fulfilling all the previously postponed shows, including a three-night stand at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, the Weeknd has also announced nearly a dozen new dates, including an April 7th, 2022 gig at Elmont, New York’s in-construction UBS Arena, which marks the first announced concert at the new home of the New York Islanders.

Emmy russell seeks 'redemption' on first post-'american idol' single, sean combs seen kicking and dragging cassie on surveillance video, marjorie taylor greene has been obsessed with aoc for years.

Other new dates include a stop at Seattle’s soon-to-open Climate Pledge Arena on March 4th, a Los Angeles Forum show on March 11th, and added dates in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Boston.

Previously purchased tickets for the original After Hours trek will be valid at their rescheduled show, while tickets for the new dates go on sale Monday, February 8th at 10 a.m. local time — hours after the Weeknd’s halftime performance — at the Weeknd’s site .

Additionally, the Weeknd has announced his The Highlights collection, an album of 18 tracks that the singer “curated for the Super Bowl.” That compilation, due out February 5th, is available to preorder now.

The Weeknd After Hours Til Dawn Tour 2022

What Songs Is The Weeknd Playing On The ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Tour?

Derrick Rossignol

The pandemic made it so The Weeknd couldn’t tour behind 2020’s After Hours immediately following its release, but he didn’t want that to stop him from putting out another album. He ended up doing just that, dropping Dawn FM earlier this year. That didn’t put an After Hours tour to rest, though. Instead, The Weeknd is supporting both albums on his ongoing After Hours Til Dawn tour .

The trek kicked off in mid-July and so far, The Weeknd has six shows under his belt (as of August 4). At those concerts, what songs has he been performing most?

The answer right now is all of them, according to data from Setlist.fm , the most comprehensive resource for concert setlists available online; For each show, he’s had the exact same 29-song setlist, which makes sense given how early into the tour he is.

Setlist.fm also has an “average setlist” for the After Hours Til Dawn tour , which is based on setlists from previous shows, so it’s an indication of how an upcoming The Weeknd show might be structured. This one was probably pretty easy to figure out.

As for album-by-album representation on the setlist, Dawn FM has the most songs included, followed closely by After Hours . Then, it’s Starboy , Beauty Behind The Madness , House Of Balloons , My Dear Melancholy , and Kiss Land . If all the “covers” (songs The Weeknd performs on but isn’t the primary artist of on the album version) were considered an album, they’d go after Starboy in the rankings and before Beauty .

Find The Weeknd’s most played songs on After Hours Til Dawn tour below, as well as the tour’s average setlist. Check out The Weeknd’s upcoming tour dates here .

The Weeknd Kicks Off “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour in Philly, Flies Out Young Canadian Fan: Video + Setlist

A 6-year-old was heartbroken when the Toronto show was canceled, but The Weeknd made up for it in a big way

The Weeknd Kicks Off “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour in Philly, Flies Out Young Canadian Fan: Video + Setlist

The Weeknd ’s “After Hours Til Dawn” tour finally launched on Thursday (July 14th) at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. The tour is scheduled to take place through early September, and you can get tickets to the rest of the upcoming dates via Ticketmaster .

The show marked the start of a long-planned tour long-plagued by setbacks. Originally, the trek was supposed to take place in summer 2021 before being rescheduled to early ’22 because of the pandemic. Then those plans got pushed due to “to constraints of arenas and the desire to do something bigger and special for fans that will require stadiums.” Even once the stadiums were booked, supporting act Doja Cat was forced to pull out following throat surgery . When it finally came time to kick things off in Toronto last week, the show was postponed at the very last minute due to an outage at Canada’s main telecommunications company — Rogers Telecommunications, which just so happened to have its name on the stadium The Weeknd was set to play.

Finally , after all that, The Weeknd was able to officially bring the much anticipated tour to the stage. It surely looked like a show worth the wait — and that goes double for young Canadian fan Phoenix Prince. The six-year-old was seen in a viral image from the canceled Toronto show, dressed in the “Blinding Lights” outfit, devastated that the concert had been called off. When The Weeknd saw the photo, he asked for help tracking down the young Prince. He was ultimately successful, flying Prince and his father down to Philly with all-access passes, a meet-and-greet, and even signing his little red jacket, as seen in images posted to Blake Prince’s Instagram .

The Princes also got a hell of a show, as the “After Hours Til Dawn” stage looks massive, with a full cityscape (occasionally lit by pyro) set up behind The Weeknd. Stretching out from the main stage is a runway reaching almost the full length of the stadium floor, with circular stages in the middle and at the end, “blinding lights” running along either side. Hanging over the final platform is a giant moon that is illuminated in different colors as the mood called for.

While eating up that vast space, The Weeknd delivered a hit-filled 29-song set. The setlist was heavy on tracks from Dawn FM — including the live debuts of “Is There Someone Else?”, “Less Than Zero,” and “Take My Breath” — and After Hours (opener “Alone Again,” the smash “Blinding Lights,” and another live debut in “After Hours”). While mixing in his features on tracks like Kanye West’s “Hurricane,” Drake’s “Crew Love,” and Future’s “Low Life,” Canadian superstar also dropped the first performances of “Kiss Land” since 2013 and “Die for You” since 2017.

Check out the complete setlist below, as well as videos of The Weeknd’s Philadelphia tour kick off.

Taylor Swift's New 2024 Eras Tour Setlist Revealed

T aylor Swift launched her European leg of the Eras Tour with a bang in Paris, introducing a slew of exciting changes during her opening performance on Thursday, May 9.

Fans, eagerly returning after a two-month hiatus, were immediately struck by the alterations — from wardrobe shifts to tweaks in the setlist. Addressing the audience at the onset, Swift teased, "It makes us want to give you all sorts of surprises!"

Of particular interest to fans was whether she'd incorporate tracks from her latest 11th album, The Tortured Poet's Department , released in April. Swift's French tour promoter, Arnaud Meersseman, confirmed additions were on the cards, although specifics remained under wraps.

The tour's evolution kicked off promptly with an altered intro, transitioning from a mashup of her albums to including material from TTPD .

To make room for the new songs, she bid farewell to some fan favorites: "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "Tolerate It," "The Last Great American Dynasty," and "Tis the Damn Season."

Fans voiced their discontent over the cuts. "She really axed some of my favorite songs :(" lamented one user via X (formerly Twitter ). Another expressed frustration, "Why is she cutting the best songs? I'm so upset right now."

However, Swift officially ushered in a TTPD era to the tour, dubbing it "female rage: the musical."

She debuted the tracks "So High School," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "But Daddy I Love Him," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," "Down Bad," and "Fortnight."

As for the costume changes, Swift unveiled a new array of outfits — a new Lover bodysuit, Fearless dress, and Enchanted gown graced the stage, accompanied by a new t-shirt for the Red era saying, "This is Not Taylor's Version."

Transitioning to the Folklore era, she stunned in a new yellow dress, while the 1989 was changed to a blue-and-pink sequined ensemble.

In a surprising twist, the sequence of eras underwent a shake-up. Evermore took the lead after Fearless , followed by Red and then Speak Now . Evermore and Folklore merged into a singular era.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift is back on the road for her record-breaking , economy-altering Eras Tour.

The stadium series kicked off last year in Glendale, Arizona, and quickly became a sensation . After making stops across the US, Mexico, South America , Japan, Australia, and Singapore , Swift will continue to perform throughout 2024 in Europe , plus a second North American leg scheduled for later this year.

On Thursday, Swift resumed The Eras Tour in France after a multi-week hiatus.

During that break, Swift released her 11th studio album, " The Tortured Poets Department " — so she adjusted the original 44-song set list to include brand new tracks, though other fan favorites (including " The Archer ," " The 1 ," and " Tolerate It ") were cut for time.

The updated show stretches for over three hours and includes 46 songs. The complete set list is cataloged below, in order of Swift's performance.

The heart-wrenching piano ballad "Champagne Problems" often inspires a minutes-long standing ovation during The Eras Tour.

"August"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Swift's debut performance of "August" took place at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Later that night, she won album of the year for "Folklore," her record-tying third trophy in that category.

"Illicit Affairs"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Illicit Affairs" is widely interpreted as a song about marital infidelity, though its descriptions of forbidden love and "clandestine meetings" adopt new meanings through a queer lens .

"My Tears Ricochet"

after hours tour setlist 2022

In Swift's own words , "My Tears Ricochet" was inspired by the image of an "embittered tormentor showing up at the funeral of his fallen object of obsession."

"Marjorie"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Marjorie" is named after Swift's late grandmother, Marjorie Finlay , an opera singer who died in 2003. Finlay is credited with background vocals in the song.

"Willow"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Willow" was promoted as the lead single from " Evermore ." Like "Cardigan," it was released simultaneously with its parent album and debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

"Style"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Swift briefly dated Harry Styles before releasing her fifth studio album, "1989."

When Rolling Stone asked about the inspiration behind the album's third track, "Style," she replied, "We should have just called it 'I'm Not Even Sorry.'"

"Blank Space"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Blank Space" is a widely celebrated satire about Swift's reputation as a "serial dater."

"'She only writes songs to get emotional revenge on guys. She's a man-hater. Don't let her near your boyfriend,'" Swift explained at the time. "It was just kind of excessive and, you know, at first it was hurtful and then I kind of found a little comedy in it."

The song dethroned "Shake It Off" at No. 1 on the Hot 100, making Swift the first and only woman in history to replace herself in the chart's top spot. (She has since done it twice.)

"Shake It Off"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Shake It Off" was released as the lead single from "1989," Swift's official pivot from country to pop music .

The song became her first to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and remained there for four weeks. It also inspired a sketch on "Saturday Night Live"  about adults realizing they love Swift's music.

"Wildest Dreams"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Wildest Dreams" was released as the first rerecorded song from "1989 (Taylor's Version)."

"Bad Blood"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Bad Blood" was famously inspired by Swift's then-feud with Katy Perry , whom Swift accused of trying to "sabotage" her "Red" tour. (The two pop stars have long since buried the hatchet .)

The remix includes a feature from Kendrick Lamar , who returned to rerecord his verse for "1989 (Taylor's Version)."

"But Daddy I Love Him"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Following the release of her massive double album , "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," Swift added seven brand-new songs to The Eras Tour setlist.

The first is "But Daddy I Love Him," a sharp rebuke of Swift's own fans , many of whom criticized her dating life last year.

"So High School"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"So High School" is widely presumed to be about Swift's current boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce . The song's lyrics seem to reference their different professions: "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle."

"Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Swift is the only songwriter credited for "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

The song title is likely inspired by "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" — a celebrated play written by Edward Albee that tackles themes of truth versus illusion, fate versus choice, and feeling trapped.

"Down Bad"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Down Bad" is a heartsick serenade that compares falling in love to being abducted by aliens.

"Fortnight"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Fortnight" was promoted as the lead single from "The Tortured Poets Department," alongside a music video that costars Post Malone and references "Dead Poets Society."

"The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" is a scathing breakup song that may have been inspired by Matty Healy , whom Swift dated while writing "The Tortured Poets Department." According to reports, their relationship lasted about one month .

"I Can Do It With a Broken Heart"

after hours tour setlist 2022

In a meta twist, "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" was apparently inspired by The Eras Tour itself. The lyrics seem to reference a string of concerts last year, when Swift felt "miserable" but continued to perform as usual ("They said, 'Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it,' and I did").

Surprise Song No. 1

after hours tour setlist 2022

During each show on The Eras Tour, Swift performs a two-song acoustic set that changes every night . The first song is always played on acoustic guitar.

The first-ever surprise song Swift played in Arizona was "Mirrorball." For the first stop on the European leg, she chose the "Midnights" bonus cut "Paris."

Surprise Song No. 2

after hours tour setlist 2022

The second surprise song of the evening is always played on the piano.

In Arizona, Swift's first-ever surprise song on piano was "Tim McGraw," the lead single from her 2006 debut album. For night one in France, Swift played the "Tortured Poets" heartbreaker "Loml."

"Lavender Haze"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Lavender Haze" is the opening track on Swift's 10th studio album " Midnights ."

"Anti-Hero"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Anti-Hero" was promoted as the lead single from "Midnights." It debuted at No. 1 and became Swift's biggest hit to date, reigning atop the chart for eight weeks.

The same week that "Anti-Hero" arrived in the top spot, Swift became the first and only artist in history to  occupy the entire top 10 on the Hot 100 .

"Midnight Rain"

after hours tour setlist 2022

"Midnight Rain" doubles as a breakup song and an ode to Swift's own ambitions: "He wanted it comfortable, I wanted that pain / He wanted a bride, I was making my own name," she sings, calling back to the rejection of '50s gender roles in "Lavender Haze."

"Vigilante Shit"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Put simply, "Vigilante Shit" is about getting revenge. Many fans believe the song was inspired by Scooter Braun , who purchased Swift's back catalog in 2019. Less than two years later, he sold Swift's master recordings to a private equity company .

"Bejeweled"

after hours tour setlist 2022

The music video for "Bejeweled"  includes a variety of celebrity cameos, including Laura Dern, the Haim sisters, and Dita Von Teese.

"Mastermind"

after hours tour setlist 2022

In the chorus of "Mastermind," Swift seems to serenade her longtime fans: "What if I told you I'm a mastermind? / And now you're mine."

The song also references Swift's penchant for Easter eggs and her keen business acumen, which has allowed her to build a billion-dollar empire .

"I'm sick of women not being able to say that they have strategic business minds — because male artists are allowed to," Swift told Rolling Stone in 2019. "And so I'm sick and tired of having to pretend like I don't mastermind my own business."

"Karma"

after hours tour setlist 2022

Swift closes the elaborate show with "Karma," a song that mocks her enemies and salutes her own longevity: "Ask me what I learned from all those years / Ask me what I earned from all those tears / Ask me why so many fade, but I'm still here."

Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour Setlist Features A Huge Change-Up

The singer resumed her record-breaking tour in Paris, France.

Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour Setlist: New Songs & Cuts

It’s me, hi, I’m the setlist, it’s me — and welcome to the Eras Tour , again . Taylor Swift resumed her record-breaking Eras Tour in Paris, France, on May 9, and it came with quite the twist. For the first time in the tour’s run, the singer significantly upheaved her setlist , rearranging the order of the show’s ten acts representing her landmark studio albums to squeeze in a new era.

As fans have suspected for months, Swift added a whole new section to the show including songs from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department , all of which are being performed live for the first time. Understandably, Swift had to cut a good number of songs, including “The Archer” and “Long Live,” to add seven Tortured Poets tracks into her show’s usual run time of three-and-a-half hours.

She’s also changed the running order of the eras significantly. While she started with the Lover era and transitioned into Fearless as usual, she then went into the Red era sooner than expected. ( Evermore usually had followed the Fearless act.) She even combined the Folklore and Evermore eras into one act. (They’ve always been called “sister albums” after all).

Swift has made the occasional change on the road, like switching out her Folklore track “invisible string” for “the 1,” adding “Long Live” to the Speak Now act, and performing “Nothing New” and “no body, no crime” at shows where duet partners Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM opened for her. But this is the first time she’s amended the setlist to this extent. Read on for Swift’s revised Eras Tour setlist.

Neil young concert review: rock icon brings raw power to forest hills.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Neil Young rocks out on guitar while singing.

Mother Nature has a sneaky sense of humor.

On Tuesday, May 14, she tested Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse at Forest Hills Stadium when a light rain came down during their raucous ‘Love Earth’ concert. At other outdoor shows, this minor inconvenience might have put a damper on the evening; everyone knows wearing ponchos is never cool. However, on an eco-friendly, earth-loving night such as this, the drizzle was a welcome reminder to not only be present but also appreciate the simple pleasures the planet has to offer.

More than anything though, the sprinkle added a bit of texture to the 78-year-old Young’s inimitable guitar talents and otherworldly, warbly vocals at the tennis stadium turned concert venue.

Over the course of the warm yet wet evening, the Godfather of Grunge ripped through 16 songs — a handful of hits and a slew of deep cuts — in a set shortened by his entertaining, eccentric opening act Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping going a tad long (the preacher sermonized about “the earth coming into us”) and unexpected technical difficulties.

Let’s start at the beginning of Neil’s set, though.

To kick things off, Young humbly ambled onstage with the imposing “crazy horse” large looming large on a backdrop behind him. Never one for grandiosity, the Toronto native wore a baseball cap and jean jacket. If he wasn’t one of the world’s most gifted musicians, one might have mistaken him for a trucker emerging from a rest stop bathroom.

The two-time Rock Hall of Fame inductee — recognized for his solo work and Buffalo Springfield tenure — quickly jumped into his downbeat 1975 classic “Cortez The Killer.” For the next ten or so minutes, Young and Crazy Horse delivered their trademark searing, unassuming sound. 49 years later, the quartet sounded just as fresh and dripping with raw, authentic power as when the track appeared on “Zuma” nearly a half-century ago.

Only one question remained as the guitars soared for the first few minutes of the song: was Young’s unmistakable voice the same at 78-years-old?

In a word, yes.

As soon as Neil sang “He came dancing across the water,” the enthusiastic crowd knew they were in for a treat. Young sounded just like he did in his heyday; nothing had changed. Neil Young is still Neil Young. This is a good thing.

“Cinnamon Girl,” the lead track on 1969’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” came next and fans burst into applause after the first few strings. Bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina — who have been with Crazy Horse since 1968 — along with Willie Nelson’s son Micah on guitar, shredded the feel-good jam as the wall of sound their guitars produced bled throughout the unique venue.

After that, Young dipped into his plaintive ’90s rocker “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’)” with its catchy refrain “I’m a little bit high/I’m a little bit low,” which made for an easy singalong. In between songs, onstage banter was minimal; twice, Neil asked “How’s everyone doing” and “What’s your favorite planet” before slipping back into the music.

It was always all about the music for Neil.

While he is known for timeless hits like “Old Man,” “Ohio,” “After The Goldrush,” “Harvest Moon” and the 1982 oddity “Transformer Man,” Young refused to dip into that well. Instead, he opted for the sludgy, grunge-country rock opera “Like A Hurricane,” sadly sweet “Don’t Cry No Tears” and imposing, soulful “Vampire Blues” next.

Young made it clear — this is a show for real fans (and possibly himself); those who have only heard his Greatest Hits album can check their bags at the door.

That being said, later in the show, Young made sure to pay their respects to fair-weather admirers when the backing band took a break and he came back out all by his lonesome with an acoustic guitar and harmonica.

For a moment, the rock portion of the show was over; now, the spotlight shone solely on Young and he delivered three melancholy country gems. First, his simple “Comes A Time” settled the crowd. Following a bit of polite applause, Neil dove into the famous “Heart of Gold” harmonica riff. Nearly everyone sang along in the night’s most unified moment which felt more like a campfire jamboree than a concert. It was raining and we were all right there with Neil “searching for a heart of gold.” Beautiful. This is why you go to live shows. This, this, this.

Unfortunately, as the night came to a close the sound system shorted out a handful of times. First, it was during his final acoustic song “Human Highway.” Then, when Crazy Horse came back to rock out to “Hey, Hey, My My” problems persisted.

“Nothing is under control,” Nelson quipped.

Just when it seemed as if the show was over, Young and co. came back for a two-song encore; first up was the punky “Sedan Delivery” and finally his 1989 anthem “Rockin’ In The Free World.”

The lights came on; the show was over.

Everyone returned to their smartphones, most were checking the Knicks score. For a few hours though, Neil and Mother Nature brought us all together to ‘Love Earth.’ That might have been their sneakiest trick of all.

Final verdict: Whether you love Neil for his unfiltered rockers or sensitive country ballads, the ‘Love Earth Tour’ will satisfy all your Neil Young needs as he makes sure to spend time in both of his equally powerful soundscapes.

Neil Young new music

On April 26, Young released his 46th album, the nine-track “FU##IN’ UP,” which features live versions of classic cuts from Young’s storied catalog.

“In the spirit it’s offered, (we) made this for the Horse lovers,” he shared. “I can’t stop it. The horse is runnin’. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share.”

None of the songs on the record were performed at the show we attended but, in typical Young fashion, they rock. Hard.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can give “FU##IN’ UP” a spin here .

About Forest Hills

For our money, Forest Hills Stadium is one of New York’s premier concert destinations.

Located in the heart of the cozy Queens neighborhood off the E, M, F and R train, the venue is perfect for live music; it’s otherworldly when it gets dark at the open-air space. “Magical” isn’t a word we throw around lightly here but there’s no better way to describe a nighttime show at the 13,000-seat tennis stadium.

In order to get there, you’ll have to walk with throngs of fans — depending on how crowded the show you attend is — for a few blocks through neighborhood streets until you reach the tennis stadium. Make sure you have your tickets pulled up when you arrive, they’ll be checking at the gate.

Once inside, you’ll see food options for days. It’s highly likely they’ll all have lines that stretch 15-30 customers deep. Skip those. Go farther into the venue and you’ll be able to grab your food or drink, hassle-free.

Now that you have your goodies, it’s time to enter the concert area. While walking in, you’ll notice something. It gets eerily quiet out of nowhere. Don’t worry, you aren’t the only person experiencing this phenomenon. Signs read “These walls were specifically designed to minimize the sound that reaches our neighbors across the street.” Groovy.

Climb to your seat and watch tennis being played behind the stage (depending on your view); it’s a sight to behold.

Lizzy McAlpine follows her breakout hit with an ‘Older,’ and wiser, tour

A woman with long hair looks into the camera as purple flowers bloom on a green garden wall behind her.

Thousands of fans sway in sync, phone flashlights raised high, anticipating the crescendo.

“But it’s not real,” Lizzy McAlpine sings as members of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre crowd join in. They belt with the conviction of Broadway stars, some crumpling from the emotional catharsis.

It’s the second show of McAlpine’s “Older” tour and “Ceilings” is far from the last song on the set list. But when the viral hit ends, an exodus ensues. For so many of the fans, the show’s essentially over.

“It’s super disheartening as an artist,” McAlpine says, recounting the episode from her L.A. home two weeks later. “People will come to the shows just to see that one song, to see the one snippet of that song that they know from TikTok, and then they’ll leave.”

From now on, she says, “Ceilings” will be an encore. “They’re gonna have to really wait the whole show if they wanna see that one song.”

That will apply to her concerts Saturday and Sunday at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The dates follow one of the short breaks the singer-songwriter is taking between shows to preserve her energy. On previous tours, she exhausted herself to the point of physical illness: pneumonia, laryngitis, influenza and more.

“Every tour I would go on, my body would literally reject it,” she says.

She’s also visiting fewer cities and forgoing an opening act so she can start her show sooner.

The U.S. might ban TikTok. Record labels are cutting ties. What’s music’s Plan B?

After UMG pulled its catalog from the app and as political pressure - or even a domestic ban - threatens its viability, artists and their creative and business teams are pondering a world without it.

April 10, 2024

McAlpine didn’t expect “Ceilings” to be the breakout track from her 2022 album, “Five Seconds Flat.” It wasn’t even a single.

Nonetheless, a sped-up version of the song she posted on TikTok in January 2023 has spurred nearly 665,000 posts, with many users ( Victoria Justice and Jimmy Fallon among them) lip-dubbing to the song while running, dancing or both.

“Ceilings” peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has amassed more than 523 million streams on Spotify. Following its success, McAlpine signed to RCA Records.

“That moment allowed me to get here, and I’m obviously super grateful for it,” McAlpine says. “But it’s also hard to see people only care, seemingly, about one song, especially after I’ve just released this new album that feels the most like me I’ve ever felt.”

A highly confessional record built on wandering folk melodies and soft layered vocals, McAlpine’s third studio album, “Older,” was released April 5 after three years of work. She calls it a “second- or third-listen album,” one that grows on you the more time and attention you give it.

Lizzy McAlpine poses for a garden portrait.

Writing the songs was easy, like it usually is, McAlpine says. “Making them sound good,” though, “that was the part that took forever.” She recorded with a slew of producers in a trial-and-error manner, never quite realizing the vision she had in her head.

By fall 2023, she had a version of an album that she couldn’t bear to release and a mission to find a producer who could fix it.

Instead, she found a six-man band.

Assembled by Pasadena-based guitarist Mason Stoops for a Marcus Mumford tour in 2022, the band took its final form, Stoops says, after he and a few other members were recruited to record a live version of L.A. singer Ryan Beatty’s 2023 album, “Calico.” They subsequently supported Beatty on his “California in Every Color” and “Calico” tours.

When McAlpine saw the band performing with Beatty at the Ford in Hollywood last September, she was mesmerized.

“I can’t really explain it,” she says. “I was just so blown away by the band and their playing, and it really was such a focal point of that show.

“It felt so human to me, and that’s what I felt like I’d been missing.” As luck would have it, McAlpine knew the brother of a band member, steel guitarist Tyler Nuffer. She reached out the next week.

“Lizzy called me and she was just like, ‘I have this record that I hate, basically, and I think I can produce it myself with the right band, and I heard you guys play and I just felt like, this is exactly the sound that I want,’” Stoops says.

The band didn’t take much convincing. In two weeks, they re-recorded nearly half of McAlpine’s album in Nuffer’s home studio in Pasadena, Nuffer Ranch .

Stoops didn’t think McAlpine actually needed their help, but seeing how disheartened she was after years of working on her album, he hoped to restore her confidence.

AUSTIN, TX - MARCH 15: Cumbia Pop Star Estevie at Waterloo Park on Friday, March 15, 2024 in Austin, TX, ahead of her performance at the South By Southwest music festival.

Meet Estevie, the Gen Z cumbia pop star in the making

Estevie spent her early teenage years as a singing show contestant. Now, she’s ready to take over the world with her brand of cumbia pop.

May 15, 2024

“I think she felt the pressure that a lot of artists feel where, after they have a hit or they have a following — they’re known for something — it’s like, ‘Well, I have to live up to that’ or ‘I have to give people more of that,’” he says. “This record became the mission of helping Lizzy find truly only herself in these songs and giving her some kind of platform so that she could go forward as her own artist.”

Sometimes, that meant leaving the songs untouched. Track 10, “You Forced Me to,” is the original demo McAlpine made alone in her apartment. It became the “North Star” for the record, pianist Taylor Mackall says.

Up until Stoops heard that demo, he says, “I didn’t know that Lizzy was this, like, savant-level arranger and composer.”

“That’s kind of what’s wrong with production,” he says. “It hides or covers up so much of the musicality of the artists that we’re working with.”

The stage design for the “Older” tour, essentially a replica of Nuffer Ranch, does the opposite. There’s no track, no clicker, no spectacle — nothing to detract from the raw performance.

Stoops believes the intimacy of it is registering with McAlpine’s audience.

“I think it’s helped encourage people to just, like, take a moment and listen and be there with her instead of seeing her as an external object on the stage that you can just scream at,” he says.

In the footage from the tour’s opening show in San Diego, Stoops says, the crowd is so quiet, you can hear the crickets outside the venue.

From left: Bebe Rexha, Drake and Kelsea Ballerini perform.

What’s behind the epidemic of concertgoers throwing stuff at artists?

On Wednesday, Drake became the latest artist to get hit by an object hurled by a fan at a concert. Should we blame the pandemic? Social media? Lazy bouncers?

July 11, 2023

So far the “Older” tour has been a healing experience for McAlpine, who spent her past tours overextending herself, putting on a persona she thought people wanted to see.

“I never knew I could like to do this, but yeah, it’s been like night and day, honestly,” she says.

Still, after the tour concludes in October, McAlpine plans to take a long break from music. She’s eyeing film and theater work, but nothing is concrete — and that’s a comfort to her.

“Just to get to this point took so much out of me,” she says. “Now that I finally know who I am and how I can do this job in a way that will make me feel good, I am doing it, but I still need to take a step back and just, like, live.”

2024 NFL schedule release set for May 15: How to watch, stream plus top games and things we already know

The release of the 2024 nfl schedule is barely 48 hours away.

nfl-logo-g.jpg

If you've been waiting patiently for the NFL schedule to be released, you're not going to have to wait much longer, and that's because the release date is now set. The NFL has announced that the 2024 schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 15, which makes it the latest schedule release since at least 1990.

If you want full coverage of the schedule release, here's everything you need to know:

Date:  Wednesday, May 15 |  Time:  8 p.m. ET TV:  NFL Network, ESPN2 CBS Sports HQ:  We'll have full coverage on  CBS Sports HQ  starting at 8 p.m. ET on May 15.

The 2024 release will mark the fifth straight year that the schedule has come out in May, so you can probably just plan on that happening for the rest of time. Before 2020, the NFL schedule was generally released in April, but the date got moved to May during the pandemic. The NFL liked the May release date so much that the league has decided to stick with it.

The later release date means the league doesn't have to finalize the schedule until after the draft, which allows the NFL to potentially put some of the league's newest stars in prime time. For instance, the Bears likely became a much more attractive team for the schedule-makers now that they have Caleb Williams .

It's not clear why the NFL pushed the schedule release so far back this year, but at least one report has suggested that it had to do with the fact that the league is trying to finish the bidding process for the Christmas doubleheader. Right now, Netflix seems to be the frontrunner to land those two games .

Although we won't know the exact schedule until May 15, we do know the home-and-away opponents for all 32 teams. The 2024 schedule will include a rematch of both conference title games from last season, plus a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII.

Here's a look at some of the top games on the schedule:

  • Chiefs at 49ers (Super Bowl LVIII rematch)
  • Lions at 49ers (NFC title game rematch)
  • Ravens at Chargers (Harbaugh bowl)
  • Falcons at Vikings (Kirk Cousins revenge game)
  • Raiders at Saints (Derek Carr revenge game)
  • Steelers at Broncos (Russell Wilson revenge game)
  • Broncos at Saints (Sean Payton back in New Orleans)
  • Rams at Lions (Matthew Stafford returns to Detroit after losing playoff game to Lions)
  • Eagles at Giants (Saquon Barkley returns to New York)
  • Bills at Texans (Stefon Diggs faces Bills)
  • Bears at Commanders (Caleb Williams vs. Jayden Daniels if both are starting)

It won't be surprising at all if any of the games listed above get a prime spot on the schedule. If you want to check out the home-and-away opponents for every team, you can do that here .

We also know several other key facts about the 2024 schedule, and you can check those out below:

  • Chiefs will face Ravens in Thursday night opener.  The defending Super Bowl champion gets to host the first game of the year, and for the second straight year that game will be played in Kansas City. The 2024 opener will feature  the Chiefs facing the Baltimore Ravens. It will be a rematch of January's AFC Championship, which the Chiefs won 17-10.
  • NFL set to play in Brazil for the first time.  Not only are their four European games on the schedule this year, but the NFL has scheduled a game in Brazil for the first time. The Eagles will be the home team for a Week 1 game against the Packers that will stream exclusively on Peacock on Friday, Sept. 6
  • International series will also feature games in London and Munich. The NFL will be playing four games in Europe this year with three games in London and one game in Germany. For the slate of games in England, the Bears, Vikings and Jaguars will each serve as the home team in one game. As for the game in Germany, the Panthers will serve as the home team for the NFL's second regular-season game ever in Munich.
  • Christmas doubleheader that will make history.  For just the third time in 75 years, the NFL will be playing on a Wednesday this year and that will be happening because Christmas falls on a Wednesday in 2024. The NFL will be giving us a doubleheader on Dec. 25.

If you want a few more nuggets about the upcoming season, you can see  our full list of everything we know about the 2024 schedule here .

Taylor Swift’s expected Eras Tour setlist for UK as Paris gig reveals huge changes

Taylor Swift performs new setlist with TTPD at The Eras Tour in Paris

The Lover house is burned down, Speak Now is fighting for her life, and we’re all afraid of little old Taylor Swift as she overhauls her Eras Tour setlist.

As the 34-year-old superstar kicked off the European leg of her tour in Paris, fans gathered around livestreams and X to discover what she had in store.

Paris night one didn’t disappoint and ticket chaos was forgiven as the Tortured Poets Department took centre stage and the entire Eras Tour was changed, from bodysuits to choreography.

Fans had already speculated there might be a switch up after she released the Eras Tour film before her tour had finished but this was more than our wildest dreams.

It’s no surprise that Taylor has added in the new album but at already three and a half hours long , some songs were left on the cutting room floor.

The Archer, tis the damn season, and even the last great American dynasty were all brutally ripped from the setlist.

New glittering bodysuits and dresses were rolled out for every era except Reputation, which is the last in the album in the show to get it’s Taylor’s Version.

So far no vault track appears on her main setlist, only core album songs have a permanent place on the Eras Tour.

Swifties have been left in utter disbelief as Folklore and Evermore were combined into one era, known as the sisters era, to keep time down.

Speak Now was reduced back down to one song — RIP Long Live — and debut remains reserved for surprise songs in the acoustic set.

Let’s be honest Taylor could perform for six hours and fans would still want more but even she would probably find that exhausting.

It’s been a whirlwind 24hours for Swifties so lets see what the setlist has been left looking like and what that means for the UK.

We’re still going strong opening with Lover but even her seventh studio album and big opener couldn’t survive Taylor’s great setlist war. We’ll miss you, The Archer.

  • Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
  • Cruel Summer
  • You Need To Calm Down

Fearless Era

The album that made her a superstar remains unscathed but since there were only three songs for this era it’s hardly surprising.

However, a new tasseled bodysuit was revealed and it looks incredibly similar to one worn on the Our Song hitmaker’s original Fearless tour in 2009.

  • You Belong With Me

In a position switch up, the setlist now moved from Fearless into Red instead of evermore but the songs remain unchanged and All Too Well remains firmly in pride of place.

  • We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
  • I Knew You Were Trouble
  • All Too Well (10 Minute Version)

Speak Now Era

Justice for Speak Now, already balding but now scalped as Long Live has been once more removed.

We’re begging Taylor, I will sacrifice I Knew You Were Trouble for just one more purple painted dream.

Reputation Era

Yet to have it’s Taylor’s Version released, Reputation remains unchanged on the mammoth set but has been moved to after Red and Speak Now rather than before.

It’s also the only section that has not had an outfit change, the day that red and black bodysuit goes we’re all going to lose our minds.

  • …Ready For It?
  • Don’t Blame Me
  • Look What You Made Me Do

Folklore/Evermore Era

Once separate totalling 12 songs, Taylor’s lockdown albums have been combined into one – with a lot of casualties.

‘We have reunited the sister albums,’ the singer told the Paris crowd, joking it could be called ‘everlore’ or ‘folkmore’.

Removed from the setlist are: Tis the damn season, the last great american dynasty, invisible string, and tolerate it.

  • Cardigan (folklore)
  • Betty (folklore)
  • Champagne Problems (evermore)
  • August (folklore)
  • Illicit Affairs (folklore)
  • My Tears Ricochet (folklore)
  • Marjorie (evermore)
  • Willow (evermore)

Mother’s favourite child remains safe and sound with no changes and still following the Folklore set. Honestly, we would have loved to see some of this swapped out for the vault tracks which stormed the charts last year.

Bad Blood remains on the setlist, we wonder if Kendrick Lamar is free to come do a surprise live feature…

  • Blank Space
  • Shake It Off
  • Wildest Dreams

The Tortured Poets Department

Initially Swifties weren’t sure if this would be added and if so how could the 31 tracks possibly be whittled down into just a handful.

A new era brings blessings of brand new outfits, a floating stage set piece, gun shot choreography, and of course some insane vocal moments.

Taylor has spoken and these are (probably) her favourites off TTPD.

  • But Daddy I Love Him
  • So High School
  • Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
  • The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  • I Can Do It with a Broken Heart

The stage she’s gliding around on during Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? IS A MIRROR!!!!! The audience can see themself in the mirror as she’s singing “You caged me and then you called me crazy. Surprise songs

Each night Taylor plays two surprise songs from her vast discography, these have included This Love and Clean from 1989 and Dear John and Last Kiss from Speak Now.

She’s taken to doing mashups of the tracks, sometimes leading to fan speculation that the lyrics are somehow intertwined in inspiration.

Also known as the acoustic set, Paris night one fans were (obviously) treated to Paris from her album Midnights played on piano and loml on guitar from TTPD.

Midnights Era

Closing out the show is the iconic era which gave us ‘Karma is the guy on the chiefs ’ and that chair choreography — Midnights.

Her 2022 album gets sparkling new outfits, although the Lavender Haze fluffy lilac jacket has not been swapped out.

  • Lavender Haze
  • Midnight Rain
  • Vigilante Shit

What is the old Eras Tour setlist?

With so many changes, here’s what Taylor’s Eras Tour used to look like for a setlist run

  • tis the damn season
  • champagne problems
  • tolerate it
  • invisible string
  • the last great american dynasty
  • illicit affairs
  • my tears ricochet

When is the Eras Tour in the UK?

The Eras Tour will come to the UK next month , beginning in Edinburgh for three nights before heading to Liverpool, Cardiff, and London .

Who knows what Taylor will have in store for fans given her penchant for keeping everyone on their toes.

Given the huge overhaul, this is likely to be the setlist for the UK gigs and all her European dates but might have minor tweaks thrown in.

Of course, if you’re sad your favourite track is not on there is always a chance it could be one of the surprise songs as she has no rules around what she can and can’t sing here.

We’re hoping for Electric Touch, Now That We Don’t Talk, The Black Dog , or Hits Different but that tells you far too much about us.

What is Paramore's Eras Tour setlist?

The iconic pop punk band Paramore will be opening for Taylor Swift at the UK gigs and they revealed their setlist in Paris.

Of course, it is much shorter but still packed with hits from the chart-topping band, fronted by Taylor’s long time friend Hayley Williams.

  • Hard Times (+ Heart Of Glass)
  • Burning Down The House
  • Still Into You
  • Caught In The Middle
  • Brick By Boring Brick
  • The Only Exception
  • That’s What You Get
  • Ain’t It Fun
  • This Is Why
