During my 3 years living in Riga in my early 20’s. Where weekend meant parties. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting a bar or club once or twice.

On top of that, I’ve hosted party weekends for my friends more than once as well.

From everything between 3 to +10 persons at a time. All different times of the year, on different occasions.

I’ve put a fair amount of hours and money (and health) into researching this particular field.

So feel free to take a shortcut and take advantage of my experience.

Before we start keep in mind:

• The places are presented in random order
• Compared to Western prices, all these places are in the lower-end price category. So the price is set relative to each other 
• Also, none of these places have strict dress codes. As long as you leave your sweatpants at home, you’ll probably be fine.

Here you can enjoy some liquid beverages with an awesome view of the whole city. 

Located on the 26th floor in the Radisson Blu hotel on Elizabetes iela 55. This makes it the highest bar in Latvia (the building is 312 feet/95 m tall).

But expect more like a lounge. A place you go for a brief amount of time to enjoy the view and a few decent beers, cocktails, or some food in the meantime. Before hitting one of the other bars or clubs.

It does have more of an airport vibe. Like you’re in transit. Or shooting stock photos. It’s not a place boiling with personality.

Also, it’s one of the more expensive places, on top of the small entrance fee.

But it’s still a good experience.

If you would like to play, but don’t have a steady partner or 4-some for regular matches, you can join one of our single player activities.

Wednesday Americano – every Wednesday 19:00 intermediate level players gather to battle it out. 

Friday Night Padel Night – casual play for all levels, 8 eur flat rate per person. We start at 18 or 18:30, and play until the last person leaves. 

Open matches in Playtomic – the Playtomic app has a function where you can leave the match open for other players to join.  The match will be visible only for players within your playing level interval. 

Example. You are a 2.8 level player. When you create an open match, the level interval will be set to -0.5 to +0.75 from your level =  2.3 – 3.55. Players within this intervall, will be able to join the match. 

And it also works in reverse. If someone else has created an open match for your level, you can safely joing that match. 

The level is preset by playtomic, but the admin can set it to anything you want if needed.

World Padel Tour

World Padel tour runs about 20 tournaments over the season, April to December. In addition to that, there are also about 4-5 challenger events. This leads to a hectic schedule, and some months there are tournaments every week. The tournaments are streamed live on WPT’s Youtube channel for free, starting from the Quarterfinals. And it is indeed a spectacular show. Both the Men’s and Womans events are highly entertaining and very watchable.

Conveniently, there are also highlights of the matches published every day, called “Resumen”. The material is available both with Spanish and English commentary.

Chris Crawford makes first ace in PGA TOUR Americas history

With one swing, Chris Crawford earned a piece of professional golf history.

Crawford, 30, recorded the first ace on PGA TOUR Americas during Thursday's opening round of the Diners Club Peru Open, holing a 5-iron at the par-3 fourth hole (from 207 yards), his 13th hole of the day. It wasn’t just the first hole-in-one on PGA TOUR Americas; it was Crawford’s first competitive ace.

At first glance, he also didn’t realize its final destination.

“It was probably the most boring hole-in-one you’ll ever see,” Crawford said afterward. “I hit a really good shot; I hit 5-iron, it was kind of close to right at it, maybe landed just right of it. But I picked up the tee; I wasn’t really watching … I thought the ball was on the green, but I looked up and I didn’t see anything. I thought maybe, ‘OK, I did this in the practice round; maybe it rolled in the back bunker.' And then my two playing partners and their caddies, nobody said anything either. So we walked up, and I started walking toward the back bunker, and then I didn’t see anything. And then (playing partner) Gunn (Yang), he walked over to the hole, and he was like, ‘It’s in the hole.’ And that was it.”

Crawford proceeded to shoot 5-under 67, one back of a four-way co-lead after the opening round in Peru.

Crawford is perhaps best known as a maestro of Golf’s Longest Day, having successfully navigated 36-hole Final Qualifying for three U.S. Opens (2016, 2017 and 2021). The Drexel alum also Monday qualified into the PGA TOUR’s Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches earlier this year, marking his first non-major TOUR start.

Crawford entered the week at No. 34 on the PGA TOUR Americas season-long Fortinet Cup, 3-for-3 in made cuts this season with two top-25s. The top 60 on the standings after the Latin America Swing will earn full status on the North America Swing this summer. The top 10 on the season-ending Fortinet Cup (including both swings) will earn exempt 2025 Korn Ferry Tour membership.

Club América will be spending plenty of time in the United States this summer.

Las Águilas  are set to take in two different competitions on U.S. soil, as well as two friendlies against Premier League sides amid a busy fixture list.

The Liga MX power will start with a Campeón de Campeones match, in which the winner of the Apertura season faces the winner of the Clausura season.

Next will be a pair of friendlies, with Chelsea and then Aston Villa on the agenda. After that, América will enter the 2024 Leagues Cup along with every other team in Liga MX and every MLS team.

As the defending Liga MX champion, América will not participate in the group stage and has been given a bye into the round of 32. Should the club have success, it could play up to five matches in the Leagues Cup.

For the first time in the club’s history, RB Leipzig will play two preseason friendly matches in the United States this summer. Leipzig will train at the New York Red Bulls Academy in Whippany, New Jersey, the home of its Major League Soccer sister club, the New York Red Bulls.

“This will be our first preseason outside of Europe, and in the United States, we decided to go to a key target market for our club,” RB Leipzig CBO Johann Plenge said in a club statement. RB Leipzig excites soccer fans both domestically and internationally with its unique story, which has taken us from the fifth division to the Champions League.”

The club will also play a friendly against Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, on Jul. 31. On Aug. 4, the club plans to play a second friendly against a yet-to-be-determined opponent somewhere on the East Coast.

“We will be at their training facilities and have a very close exchange with them,” Plenge said when asked why Leipzig opted not to play against their sister club. “We wanted to play Aston Villa because we think it is exciting to bring together European teams and have them compete in the US. Aston Villa has been playing an impressive season not only in the Premier League but also the Conference League.”

What does the tour mean from a commercial standpoint? According to RB Leipzig , the club is currently among the top three Bundesliga teams in terms of US television ratings. The club also has seven million followers on various social media platforms, 10% coming from the United States.

“Soccer fans in the United States are following the RB Leipzig story,” Plenge said. “We are convinced that it is a great story, and we want to spread the word about our story and reach more fans. But it is also important for our partners. First and foremost, Red Bull in the US market is very relevant for the brand, and we will try to activate together.”

That activation will also include presenting new kit sponsor Puma and working together closely with sister club New York Red Bulls. “We will go to the match on July 30 [against Pachuca] and do commercial activations,” Plenge said. “We will also do commercial activations with our new equipment partner and launch our jersey during the US tour.”

One of the key aspects of the tour will be to work closely with the New York Red Bulls. “For me, that’s more important than connecting our soccer team with other kinds of sports,” Plenge said. “I want our coaches to exchange, the sporting directors to exchange, and most importantly our players.”

Focusing on player engagement makes sense from an RB Leipzig point of view. After all, in the likes of Tyler Adams and Caden Clark, RB Leipzig has recruited from the Red Bulls in the past. Finding more talent in North America through their sister club has been, in fact, something Leipzig has wanted to deepen for some time, and the US Tour will, therefore, be a two-way street of exchanging ideas.

Player transfers, however, haven’t been just one way. In February, Leipzig legend Emil Forsberg headed stateside to join the New York Red Bulls. The Swedish playmaker has voiced his excitement about seeing his former teammates. “Not only are the conditions at our training complex great, but New York is also the perfect city for RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga to become better known in the USA,” Forsberg said before concluding. “I’m sure that we’ll have a great time together.”

Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department is here, but it could be a logistical nightmare for the Eras Tour

Get ready for another Taylor Swift era.

The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) is the superstar's 11th studio album and is being released around the world today.

It'll be dropping the second the clock hits midnight on the east coast of America, which will be this afternoon in Australia.

• 2pm AEST : ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria
• 1:30pm ACST : Northern Territory and South Australia
• 12pm AWST : Western Australia

So far, we know the album is a whopping 16 songs (not including bonus vinyl tracks) and features multiple collaborations, including with Florence + The Machine.

We also know the first single will be Fortnight featuring Post Malone, with a music video dropping tomorrow morning as well.

Despite no singles being released in its lead up, clues point to TTPD seemingly being inspired by the five stages of grief : denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Plus, many fans have speculated that the album title is a reference to the name of a group chat Swift's ex was part of – The Tortured Man Club.

And while The Tortured Poets Department could very well set new streaming records, it also poses a logistical nightmare for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: how do you include yet another album into a show that is over three hours long?

Below, two ABC reporters and Swifties weigh up the likelihood of how the megastar might adapt her sell-out tour when it recommences in Europe next month.

We could lose some songs from every era to make room

Jessica : This seems like the most likely course of action. To put things into perspective, the Eras Tour includes songs from nine albums, but their airtime varies wildly. Lover, Folklore and Midnights have at least six songs, while Speak Now gets just two. So this might be a chance to balance things out?

Georgie : It would make the most sense to me. I can't imagine a tour that doesn't spend at least some time on the freshest music. But, this is a unique scenario. You have an artist who is essentially doing a greatest hits tour at the age of 34 while she is still churning out new music.

If she does cut music to make room for Tortured Poets, it will be very divisive. Every fan has their favourite era. But, I think if she was to I would hope she cuts songs she has already toured. You have to remember she put out four (now five) albums since her last tour and I imagine it would make the most sense for her to give more air time to Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and TTPD.

Jessica : If you were in charge of Taylor Swift's setlist, which songs would you cull? I'd ditch The Archer from the Lover era so it ends with, well, Lover. I'd be ruthless and cut most of the songs from the Red era as nothing compares to All Too Well (10 Minute Version). But keep the Reputation portion as is! It's perfect.

What if smaller eras, like Fearless and Speak Now, got cut altogether?

Jessica : I love chaos so I would not bat an eye if Taylor Swift dropped the entire Speak Now era from her tour. (But Enchanted is such a core memory for a lot of fans.) I know this might be a wild concept but there's not one song from her self-titled debut album in the Eras Tour (justice for Our Song!), so make of that what you will.

Georgie : I think this will cause a major generational divide. The beautiful part about the Eras Tour is you have fans new and old coming together. Taylor has been making music since 2009 and the Eras Tour has been a chance for people in their twenties and thirties to dress up in glitter and be teenagers again while sharing the new music with teenagers today. I'm a folklore girl through and through so I am hoping if any eras get sacrificed it's the older ones. But I can't lie, it's pretty special to belt out Love Story with thousands of other people.

Could we lose the two surprise songs for a few Tortured Poets hits?

Georgie : Controversial opinion but I would be ok with this. Although, take this as you want because I have experienced the Eras Tour. But the section is a gamble anyway. You never know what she's going to play and someone is always disappointed or their top pick is played another night. If you cut this section, no-one gets hurt. Maybe she subs it out for three best songs from TTPD?

Jessica : I missed out on tickets for the Eras Tour altogether so I was taken aback seeing fans who did score tickets complaining about which night got "better" surprise songs. You can't please everyone! I agree, this would level the playing field and take the comparison factor out of the tour… but I wonder if that uniqueness is a marketing factor as some super fans attend multiple concerts in the same city.

Imagine if she just… didn't play her new album

Georgie : Don't say it or it might come true!

Jessica : I think this would be the riskiest option. Imagine the disappointment on the first night when the tour recommences in Paris on May 9. But some fans, especially in America, who witnessed the Eras Tour last year before this album was announced feel it's unfair if other countries get a different experience. But that's what happens with the passage of time!

Georgie : I see your point but you have to remember we're in an age where many people have watched the Eras Tour happen through TikTok and the cinema release. So is it really missing out when it's been inescapable for over a year? This could be a chance for the people who have waited so long for the Europe leg – who have basically watched the tour on streaming and all over TikTok – to have something unique and worth the cash.

Or she could just include the new album and make the show nearly *four hours* long?

Jessica : I think this option would please the most fans, but I genuinely don't know how she performs for hours on end each night and then travels through different time zones. Oh,  to be a billionaire with a whole team taking care of everything all the time.

Georgie : I don't see this happening. Costs would skyrocket and many stadiums have a noise curfew. That's new costumes, sets and dance routines.

Jessica : But I would eat up new costumes, sets and dance routines! A four-hour concert is outrageous, which makes me think she might very well pick this option. Time will tell.

Georgie : I'm obviously a Swiftie but when I found out about the new album and what that might mean for the tour I just felt… overwhelmed. I'm still processing the release of four albums and two Taylor's Versions in four years. And now she's putting out new music? It's simply too much! The concert is a marathon but if I did have to go to a four-hour show, I'd do it for Ms Swift.

The worst option: Swapping All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for the radio edit to save time

Jessica : Sacrilegious.

Georgie : The people would riot. Jake Gyllenhaal would be thrilled though.

Final thoughts

Jessica : With everything going on in the world, I think this is a fun problem to ponder, and an interesting one for Taylor to tackle. I wish her well in whatever form the Eras Tour takes, because fans are going to have strong opinions either way.

Georgie: I worry that Taylor needs a holiday but, as you said, she's a billionaire now so I think she'll be fine. I hope she tours future albums but I also support her having a rest. Go chill with the cats and Travis. You've danced in high heeled boots for two years.

Frankie Capan III shoots 13-under 58 in Korn Ferry Tour event at Texas Rangers Golf Club

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Frankie Capan III shot a 13-under 58 on Thursday in the Veritex Bank Championship at Texas Rangers Golf Club to tie the Korn Ferry Tour record for relation to par and match the second-lowest score in tour history.

Capan played an eight-hole stretch in 9 under, making an eagle on the par-5 ninth and following with seven straight birdies. He two-putted for par on the par-4 17th, then hit into a fairway bunker on the par-5 18th and ended up saving par with a 7-foot putt.

“Whenever you’re out there playing well and going low, I really just wanted to keep going as much as I could,” Capan said. “I know this course might be gettable the next few days, so just tried to get as many as I could.”

Cristobal Del Solar shot the lowest round in Korn Ferry Tour history with a 13-under 57 in February in the Astara Golf Championship in Colombia. There have been 13 sub-60 rounds on the Korn Ferry Tour, six in the last 370 days

The 58 broke the course record of 59 set by Masters champion Scottie Scheffler in a casual round with friends on May 3, 2020.

“When someone said it was for 58, I was excited because I know Scottie Scheffler shot 59, so whenever you can beat that guy, especially nowadays, I mean, you’ve got to take advantage,” Capan said.

The 24-year-old Capan, making his 31st Korn Ferry Tour star, played at the University of Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast He previously shot 59 in the final round of a high school state championship

“I shot 59 before, so I thought, you know, may as well break that,” Capan said. “It was a lot of fun out there. After the first four, five holes, I just felt really comfortable with my game and where I was at.”

Trent Phillips was second after a 61. Tim Widing, the winner of the LECOM Suncoast Classic last week, had a 62.

The wind gusted to 30 mph on the mostly cloudy day, with a high temperature of 78.
